PAINT PEELING ALONG UPPER EDGE OF ROOF ADJACENT TO REAR WINDOW. CONSOLE DISPLAY FOR BACKUP/RIGHT TURN CAMERA ONLY DISPLAYS COLORED LINES WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING. MILEAGE 33,340, OCT. 2020
WHILE DOING NORMAL CITY DRIVING IN EARLY MORNING, I DROVE OVER METAL PLATES ON THE STREET WHICH HAD OCCASIONALLY IN THE PAST CAUSED MY AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS) TO WARN ME TO BRAKE AS IF IT SENSED A HAZARD, BUT NEVER APPLIED THE BRAKES FOR ME. TODAY WHEN GOING OVER THESE PLATES, THE CMBS APPLIED FULL BRAKES TO THE CAR WITHOUT MY TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL MYSELF, BRINGING MY CAR TO AN ABRUPT STOP. THE CAR BEHIND ME UNDERSTANDABLY REAR-ENDED ME. LUCKILY JUST VERY MINOR DAMAGE SINCE THE CAR BEHIND ME MOSTLY STOPPED, BUT THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. WILL TAKE TO DEALERSHIP IN A COUPLE DAYS FOR INSPECTION. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THIS SYSTEM COULD NOT BE DISABLED, BUT AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND IT COULD BE, SO I DISABLED IT TODAY. WILL LIKELY NOT USE IT IN THE FUTURE AS I SEE THE HARM FROM IT TO GREATLY OUTWEIGH THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS. HERE ARE THE WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT: IT WAS ABOUT 6:00 AM, BEFORE SUNRISE. THERE WAS SLIGHT SLEET/SNOW, BUT IT WAS VERY MINIMAL. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NORMAL ASIDE FROM THE METAL PLATES FROM CONSTRUCTION ON THE STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THROUGH THE LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT, LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND BECAME AWARE OF FLUID LEAK. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO HENDRICK HONDA BRADENTON (5515 14TH ST W, BRADENTON, FL 34207) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A TOW TRUCK WAS SENT TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION RESERVOIR TOP DETACHED UNDER PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 197,001.
FREQUENT AC PROBLEMS. AC BLOWS WARM, HONDA HAS REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR TWICE UNDER WARRANTY WITHIN 1 YEAR, BOTH TIMES ISSUES HAVE ONLY BEEN SOLVED TEMPORARY AND EVENTUALLY AC THE WILL BLOW WARM AIR AGAIN. NOW THE AC IS BLOWING WARM AIR AGAIN. THE AC SYSTEM TAKES AROUND 15-20MINS TO START BLOWING COLD AIR, SPECIALLY DURING SUMMER HOT DAYS, WHICH IS NOT NORMAL FOR ANY CAR AC SYSTEM. THIS TIME THE HONDA DEALER SAID THE EVAPORATOR IS LEAKING AND CAR IS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE EVAPORATOR SINCE IT IS BACK ORDERED. FROM WHAT OTHER OWNERS ARE REPORTING ONLINE, THESE CARS APPEAR TO HAVE DEFECTIVE AC PARTS INCLUDING CONDENSERS, COMPRESSORS AND EVAPORATORS IN HONDA CIVICS RANGING FROM 2016-2019.
THE AC SYSTEM ON THESE MODELS HAVE A FACTORY DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE SURFACE STREETS THE WINDSHIELD BECAME FOGGY, I COULD NOT SEE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME AND SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND CLEANED THE WINDSHIELD WITH THE PIECE OF TOWEL. BECAUSE THE CAR'S AC WAS NOT WORKING IT COULD NOT DEFOGG THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA, BUT HONDA DOESN'T REPAIR IT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
AC compressor is leaking causing damage to the rest of the system and in the winter frost to build up on the inside of the car and during the summer the humidity in the car become so much your windows fog up to dangerous conditions.
AT APPROX 36K MILES, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXHIBITING A BEHAVIOR WHERE, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING STICKS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. TO MAKE A MINOR STEERING ADJUSTMENT, THE AMOUNT OF FORCE REQUIRED TO INITIATE A STEERING CHANGE WOULD CAUSE STEERING TO BECOME UNSTUCK AND THEN OVER STEER. MINOR STEERING ADJUSTMENTS ARE NOT POSSIBLE AND THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND MAINTAIN WITHIN THE DRIVING LANE. THIS ISSUE INITIALLY WOULD OCCUR RANDOMLY BUT HAS PROGRESSED AND IS OCCURRING MORE OFTEN.
UPON STARTING VEHICLE, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. LIGHTS INDICATED BRAKE SYSTEM ISSUE, POWER STEERING ISSUE, HILL START ASSIST ISSUE, ABS SYSTEM ISSUE. POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
2016 HONDA CIVIC FUEL DOOR ACTUATOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE WHEN LOCKING. I AM TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALER THAT THE PROBLEM IS COMMON ON CIVICS 2016 THRU 2019 AND ON ACCORDS OF THE SAME YEARS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE FORWARD AND HITS 10 MPH AND WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE KEYFOB IS PUSHED.
2016 HONDA CIVIC; A/C JUST STOPPED WORKING IN AUG OF 2019 (CAR 3 YRS OLD) WITH LESS THAN 25K MILES. PAID $240 TO GET REPAIRED. NOW 6 MONTHS LATER A/C HAS QUIT WORKING AGAIN. HONDA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPRESSOR. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL AND WHY IS HONDA NOT FIXING A CAR THAT IS 4 YEARS OLD?
MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC EXL A/C SYSTEM NO LONGER WORKING. FOR THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE I WOULD THINK THE A/C SYSTEM WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS YET. I GOT A NOTICE IN THE MAIL THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CONDENSER SYSTEM DUE TO LEAKS, SO I TOOK IT IN THINKING THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE ISSUE. I FIND OUT I'M OUT $100 FOR THE INSPECTION EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T THE CONDENSER AND THAT THE ISSUE IS INSTEAD THE COMPRESSOR THAT IS LEAKING! THESE PARTS ARE SO CLOSELY RELATED THAT HONDA SHOULD BE DOING A COMPLETE RECALL ON THE WHOLE AC SYSTEM! I LOOKED ONLINE FOR OTHERS TO SEE IF THEY WERE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND OF COURSE THEY ARE! WHAT A SURPRISE, IT SEEMS AS IF HONDA IS ALSO AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT ARE DOING NOTHING TO RESOLVE OR FIX THEIR FAULTY AC SYSTEMS. THERE COMPRESSORS ARE ON BACK ORDER 3-4 WEEKS OUT. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD RECALL THEIR COMPLETE HONDA CIVIC'S 16-18 FOR FAULTY AC SYSTEMS!
WENT TO START MY CAR AFTER 8 HOURS OF WORK AND THE BATTERY IS DEAD. CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS CHALKY CORROSION. I DON'T LIVE NEAR A BEACH FOR IT TO HAVE THIS MUCH CORROSION NOR DO I KNOW IF THAT'S WHY THE BATTERY IS ACTUALLY DYING. CAR HAS DONE THIS TO ME 4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT BRAND NEW.
2016 CIVIC WITH 23500 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE A/C COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED AND BLEW SMOKE INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. THERE IS AN EXTENDED REPLACEMENT WARRANTY FOR THE CONDENSER DUE TO KNOWN DEFECTS IN THE PART, BUT THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT COVERED THOUGH IT TOO IS FAILING AT AN ABNORMAL RATE FOR MANY OWNERS. HONDA DEALER IS CHARGING ME $1800 FOR THE REPAIR AND NOT REPLACING THE CONDENSER. MANY OWNERS ARE REPORTING RECURRING FAILURES OF THE CONDENSER, COMPRESSOR, AND/OR EVAPORATOR UNITS. THE A/C SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES HAS A DESIGN DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
Steering wheel becomes stiff when driving at highway speeds, especially after the car has been operating for at least 20 minutes. The experience is similar to turning your steering wheel with the ignition off and no power assist. I thought I was going to lose control of the vehicle as I fought the steering wheel to stay centered in my lane and had to immediately pull over to the shoulder on the highway. First time it happened was September of 2020. When it continued, I no longer drove on the highway. I also experienced the issue when driving through a roundabout at 5 mph. It felt like the steering wheel locked up and I nearly crashed into the median before regaining control. Almost three years later, it continues to happen at highway speeds so I took it to the dealership for diagnosis because I only have 24,000 miles on the vehicle and cannot take it on road trips. Dealer confirmed the electronic power steering rack needs to be replaced at a cost of $4,000.00. This is a 2016 Honda Civic purchased new with only 24,000 miles to date and is undriveable at highway speeds due to safety issues and the dealer actually diagnosed a defective electronic power steering rack. Service tech said "too bad you don't own the 2017 Civic because a recall was issued for the power steering and you'd be covered 100%." This is an extremely expensive repair for a known defect. Please issue a recall for the 2016 Honda Civic electronic power steering system. Customers should not have to pay for the repair out of pocket for a defective part.
PRIMARY DISPLAY FAILED, REMOVING ABILITY TO SEE BACKUP CAMERA AND RIGHT TURN OR RIGHT SIDE BLINDSPOT CAMERA. SECONDARY IMPACT TO CLIMATE CONTROL AND OTHER VEHICLE FUNCTIONS BUT SAFETY ISSUE WITH AN INABILITY TO SEE THE BACKUP CAMERA ON THE DISPLAY IS PRIMARY CONCERN. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED, BUT IT AFFECTS SAFE OPERATION WHEN BACKING OR MAKING RIGHT TURNS OR LANE CHANGES TO THE RIGHT.
TRANSMISSION FILL PLUG CAME OUT AND LEAKED FLUID ALL OVER MY TRANSMISSION. THE FLUID WAS CHANGED AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. ONLY NOTICED WHILE I WAS CHANGING MY OIL ON 9/6/2020. I HAVE NO IDEA TO WHEN THE PLUG CAME OUT AND STARTED LEAKING. I LOOKED IT UP IN ONLINE FORUMS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID IT WILL GET DIRT OR OTHER MATERIALS IN MY TRANSMISSION AND MESS IT UP. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO IT BY TAKING THE AIR-INTAKE OFF AND PUTTING THE PLUG BACK IN PLACE. WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO MY DEALERSHIP AS WELL.
AC STOP COOLING ABOUT ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASE , CHECK FOR LEAKS ( NO LEAKS FOUND).
AC SLOWLY STOPPED PUTTING OUT SO MUCH COLD AIR. AND SUDDENLY ONE DAY JSUT STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR ALL TOGETHER. NOTHING IS COMING OUT BUT ALITTLE AIR.
THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2016 HONDA. THEY ARE KNOWN TO LEAK AND CAUSE THE OWNER $2,500+ IN THE FIRST 5 YEARS, REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR.
HAD AC CONDENSER REPLACED IN VEHICLE. ONE YEAR LATER AND THE AC IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR. QUOTED $1500 TO FIX. I DECLINED AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. DEALER CALLED AND ASKED ME TO COME BACK IN BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO CHECK IT FURTHER. INSERTED DYE IN AC SYSTEM. TOLD ME THERE WAS NO LEAK, BUT WHEN I ASKED THEM TO CHECK AGAIN THEY STATED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE EVAPORATOR. SUBMITTED CLAIM TO HONDA AND THEY DENIED MY CLAIM BASED ON THE FACT I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE HONDA, I DON'T GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR SERVICE, AND BECAUSE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CONFIRMED THAT NOTHING WAS EVER WRONG WITH COMPRESSOR AND THEY ADMITTED THIS MISTAKE. WANT $2000 TO REPLACE EVAPORATOR.
WHEN I STEER ON THE HIGHWAY GOING OVER 40 MPH THE CARS STEERING WHEEL WOULD FEEL STUCK AND WHEN I APPLIED MORE PRESSURE IT JERKS THE WHOLE CAR.
THE STEERING IS STICKY. WHEN I TRY TO MAKE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO DIRECTION, IT STICKS. WHEN IT FINALLY LET'S GO, THE CAR OVERCORRECTS CAUSING DANGEROUS CONDITIONS.
FIRST, THE NEW "NO FUEL CAP" FUEL PUMP SUCKS.. IT ALWAYS GET STUCKED WHEN I'M PUMPING GAS AT ANY GAS STATION. OIL WILL SPILL OUT. BTW (THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM) SECOND, AC PARTS! YES, I KNOW THAT HONDA HAD A LAWSUIT FOR THEIR AC AND DID A RECALL ON THEIR AC CONDENSER. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PARTS THAT HAVE DESIGN ERRORS BUT HONDA REFUSED TO ACKNOWLDEGGED THEIR MISTAKES. FOR EXAMPLE, AC EVAPORTATOR? AC COMPRESSOR? PLEASE HELP ALL THE HONDA CIVIC BUYERS! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
STEARING WHEEL IS STICKING AFTER IT IS HELD IN ONE POSITION. THE STICKING CAN BE NOTICED AT ALL SPEEDS EVEN WHEN STOPPED. WHEN THESTEARING STICKS IT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO OVER COMPENSATE WHEN TRYING TO MAKE SMALL ADJUSTMENTS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
One year after buying my car I noticed the steering would stick in place when trying to turn it causing overcorrections in driving. At first this was occurring just occasionally. It got to the point where the sticking of the wheel was everytime I drove the car, making it dangerous to drive, especially on the highway. There were no warnings the car gave off in this situation. I had brought it in twice to a Honda dealership regarding this issue. They drove it around independently and did not find the wheel to stick. They did give me a few ideas of what it could possibly be but with no definitive diagnosis. I also had an independent mechanic assess the car and they did not know what the problem was. I have contacted the Honda manufacturer twice regarding this issue, especially since finding multiple forums regarding the same complaint for their Honda civics. They just tell me there’s nothing they can do and tell me to go back to the same dealership to get another possible diagnosis of the issue. My car is available for inspection if requested.
THE CAR'S AIR COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. I HAVE TO PAY $1400 TO FIX. I HAVE SEEN THE PART BE ON BACK ORDER FOR MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR IS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC, (ONLY 4 YEARS OLD). I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED PART SINCE THE CONDENSER IS ALREADY RECALLED AND MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS 40MPH+ THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS STUCK. MAKING MINOR ADJUSTMENTS WHEN THE WHEEL IS CENTERED WILL HAVE A RESISTANCE TO THEM AND SOMETIMES MAKES A CLICKING SOUND LIKE THE STEERING IS CATCHING ON SOMETHING.
THE AIR CONDITIONING NO LONGER WORKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOW COOL AIR, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR LIKE THE A/C ISN'T ON. THIS CAUSES THE WINDSHIELD TO STEAM WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE TEMPERATURE VARIANCE, ALONG WITH CREATING AN EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE THAT IS HAZARDOUS IN HOT WEATHER.
THE AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING ON OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC IN EARLY SUMMER OF 2020. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR AND WOULD COST IN EXCESS OF $2000.00 TO FIX. WE OPTED OUT OF THE REPAIR AT THAT TIME. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT HONDA HAS NOW EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS.
AIR COMPRESSOR WENT BAD.
I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC SEDAN 2016 EX-L. MY VEHICLE HAS 36,943 MILES ON IT. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE 11/29/19. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE AIR CONDITIONING SINCE IT WAS NOT FEELING AS COOL AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. AGAIN I HAD MY CAR SERVICED ON 2/14/20 AS I WOULD BE DRIVING A DISTANCE. I LEFT AND WHILE ON THE ROAD THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. BECAUSE OF COVID I TOOK THE CAR IN ON 08/18/20. THAT IS WHEN I WAS CHARGED A $150. 00 DIAGNOSIS FEE. ADAM CAME BACK 2 HOURS LATER AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY A/C COMPRESSOR, CLUTCH AND COIL. IT WOULD COST $1794.97 TO FIX IT. ONLY THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD. I CALLED A LOCAL HONDA MECHANIC TO GET HIS OPINION. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THE COMPRESSOR WAS ON RECALL BECAUSE THEY FIX SEVERAL OF THEM. ' IF IT'S NOT IT SHOULD BE.' THE HONDA MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY COULD ORDER THE PART THAT DAY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE PRIOR OWNERS STATED HONDA WAS RELIABLE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN ANYTHING BUT RELIABLE. THE PROTECTIVE PLATE DROPPED DOWN AND GOT TWISTED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. HAD THE CAR IN AT LEAST 7-8 FOR THE PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIO AS IT IS THE BRAIN OF CAR. REPLACED THE BATTERY EARLY ON IN MY OWNERSHIP. THIS CAR IS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. EVERY THING THAT HAS GONE WRONG WITH MY CAR I HAD MET SOMEONE AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AS WELL AS READING MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. ESPECIALLY WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE 32,000- 36,000 MILE RANGE!
AT SPEEDS OVER ABOUT 45MPH THE STEERING STICKS BRIEFLY AND CORRECTION CAUSES A SUDDEN JERK IN THE NEEDED DIRECTION. THIS IS CONSTANT AND ALWAYS OCCURS. IT SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME WORSE WITH TIME AND IS ANNOYING AND DISCONCERTING, ESPECIALLY TO PASSENGERS AND ANYONE WHO DRIVES THE CAR RARELY OR HAS NOT DRIVEN THE CAR BEFORE.
IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, THE PAINT ON THE DIVER SIDE IN THE CREVICE BETWEEN THE REAR WINDOW AND THE BODY OF OUR 2016 CIVIC STARTED PEELING IN CHUNKS OF GREATER THAN 1". BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE 3/36000 WARRANTY, WE WERE OFFERED TO HAVE THE AREA REPAINTED AND WE CONSUMED HALF THE COST. LESS THAN 8 MONTHS LATER, AND STILL LESS THAN 5 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, THE PAINT IS NOW PEELING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE SAME EXACT FASHION. THEY HAVE HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS ON MANY CARS IN THIS YEAR AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THOSE CARS AS WELL. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO HERE.
AIR CONDITIONING BLOWING WARM AIR - NOT COOLING WHEN IT IS TURNED ON
LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, MY 2016 CIVIC HAS THE STICKY STEERING PROBLEM. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL "STICKS" AND DOES NOT ALLOW SMALL STEERING ADJUSTMENTS. TRYING TO MOVE THE CAR A LITTLE LEFT OR RIGHT, TO CHANGE LANES FOR EXAMPLE, IS DANGEROUS -- APPLYING ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET THE WHEEL TO MOVE MAKES THE CAR JERK. I SEE STORIES IN FORUMS ABOUT THIS GETTING COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEEMS UNFAIR I HAVE TO PAY $3K TO FIX A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT.
SMALL ROCK HIT LOWER DRIVER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD AND MADE A VERY SMALL NICK ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. I DROVE HOME FROM WORK FRIDAY AND UPON GETTING MY CAR READY SUNDAY EVENING FOR WORK THE NEXT DAY WE NOTICED A CRACK. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS INITIATED WHERE THAT ROCK HIT AND AFTER GOOGLING THE ISSUE I REALIZE I'M NOT ALONE IN THIS. THE WINDSHIELD OF THE HONDA 2016 AND NEWER IS GARBAGE. IT IS WEAK AND UNSAFE. THAT SMALL CRACK FROM SUNDAY HAS NOW REACHED HALFWAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR UNTIL IT IS FIXED ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FOR FEAR OF IT CAVING IN. WHY HASN'T HONDA ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE? IT'S BEEN FOUR YEARS OF NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS! THE CRACK IS GROWING AT AN INCREDIBLY AND TERRIFYING RATE THAT IT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. THE FIRST PICTURE WAS AT 7AM, THE SECOND AT 5PM, AND THE THIRD AT 9:30PM
AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL JAN. 2019. AC STOPPED WORKING BY JUNE, 2020. CONDENSER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, BUT WAS ON BACK-ORDER. OVER 5 WEEKS LATER, CONDENSER WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2020, BUT DEALER REPORTED COMPRESSOR WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FOR ABOUT $1,200. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER MORE THAN 30% OF THAT COST, ACCORDING TO BOTH A REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND A HONDA OF AMERICA REPRESENTATIVE. THE COMPRESSOR IS ON BACK-ORDER, INDICATING THAT A HIGH NUMBER OF COMPRESSORS ARE FAILING. ALL THE ABOVE WORK AND DIAGNOSIS WERE PERFORMED BY HONDA DEALER THE AUTOMASTER, SHELBURNE, VT. THE CAR HAS UNDER 33,000 MILES AND IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THERE APPEARS TO BE A CLASS ACTION FOR THIS ISSUE, INITIATED IN CALIFORNIA, CASE 2:19-CV-10537, FILED DEC. 2019, US DISTRICT COURT FOR CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA. HAVING NO AC IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN AT LEAST TWO WAYS: IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN A HOT CAR, AND A FOGGED WINDSHIELD OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VISION CAN'T BE CLEARED WITHOUT AC. HONDA SHOULD COVER THE FULL COST OF CORRECTING THESE SAFETY ISSUES.
THERE'S A "CATCH" IN THE STEERING. WHILE DRIVING, IF SLIGHT TURN, CAN FEEL A CATCH AND SLIGHT "TICK" NOT VERY LOUD.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the steering wheel failed to respond immediately however, abruptly the steering wheel responded causing the vehicle to veer into the other lane. The contact stated that the failure was ongoing. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after slowing down, the vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON, THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COOL AIR, AND THE DRIVER SIDE BLOWS ROOM TEMPERATURE/WARM AIR. DEALER STATED THIS IS BECAUSE OF A LEAK FROM THE COMPRESSOR DUE TO THE FRONT SEAL FAILING. HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE A/C CONDENSER FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE, BUT THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER IT AND COSTS $1,800 TO REPAIR.
WHEN DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING BECOMES STICKY AND FEELS AS IF THERE ARE NOTCHES OR CLICKS THAT THE STEERING GETS TO STUCK IN. WHEN MOVING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT TO "UNSTICK" THE STEERING, THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT'S OVER CORRECTING. THE STEERING IS NOT SMOOTH AND IT IS HARD TO KEEP THE CAR MOVING IN A STEADY STRAIGHT LINE. THIS HAPPENS MORE NOTICEABLY IN WARMER WEATHER, LATER IN THE DAY AND ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OVER 5 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION IS MANUAL AND HAPPENS IN ANY GEAR OVER 45-50 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS, THE CAR'S STEERING FEELS STIFF WHEN ADJUSTING TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. IT DOESN'T PULL AS IF THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF. THE STEERING FEELS STUCK WHEN I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT AND I HAVE TO OVER COMPENSATE WHICH MAKES THE CAR JERK. I HAVE CHECKED ON CIVIC FORUMS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM MY MODEL CIVIC. MANY OTHERS HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE POWER STEERING RACK.. HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR 2017 AND ABOVE MAKE CIVICS BUT MY 2016 IS NOT COVERED.
DURING A RECENT ROAD TRIP WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY FOR EXTENDED PERIODS. DURING THIS TIME, THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THIS CAR HAS LANE KEEP ASSIST AND OTHER SAFETY MECHANISMS, BUT THOSE WERE TURNED OFF. HOWEVER, IT IS AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO STEER FOR ME, BUT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. FOR EXAMPLE DURING A TURN, IT WOULD BECOME DIFFICULT TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEEL - IT WOULDN'T CLICK, BUT IT WOULD OFFER STRONG RESISTANCE. I DON'T KNOW IF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS JUST STOPPING WORKING IN ONE DIRECTION? IN GENERAL IT BECOMES OVERLY DIFFICULT TO STEER AS IF IT IS "FIGHTING" AGAINST THE DRIVER. THE STEERING BECOMES "STICKY" PARTICULARLY ON TURNS. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS IN DIFFERENT CAR FORUMS AND IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. IT IS GENERALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT IS INTERMITTENT, AND IT IS USUALLY AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WHILE. BECAUSE IT IS MAKING THE CAR DIFFICULT TO STAY IN THE PROPER LANE THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 44K MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. DURING A RECENT INSPECTION FOR THIS PROBLEM AT THE DEALER THEY FOUND NOTHING OBVIOUS BUT WE COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED REPLACING THE POWER STEERING RACK HAS RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS IT IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEN IT OCCURS.
AFTER ABOUT 30-40MIN OF DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, USUALLY HIGHER SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STICKY AND STIFF AT TIMES. FEEL REALLY DANGEROUS WHEN CHANGING LANES AND OR MAKING SLIGHT CORRECTIONS IN MOVEMENT. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE HAS 16K MILES ON IT.
SINCE PURCHASING MY 2016 CIVIC NEW, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE FRONT LOWER UNDER-END OF THE CAR BEING TOO LOW. IT CONSTANTLY SCRAPES WHEN I GO OVER SPEED BUMPS OR SMALL CURBS. ON 7/27/20, I WAS PARKING AT A RESTAURANT AND SLIGHT DROVE UP ON A SMALL CURB, I STOPPED AND BACKED UP AND PARKED. ABOUT 15 SECONDS LATER AS I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT MY CAR, SUDDENTLY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED HITTING ME IN THE FACE, SHOULDER AND CHEST. I WAS DAZED, FORTUNATELY, TWO CO-WORKERS WHO WERE FOLLOWING ME TO THE RESTAURANT, SAW THAT I NEEDED HELP AND OPENED THE DOOR TO HELP ME GET OUT. I HAVE HAD A HEADACHE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS - MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT IS PROBABLY A SLIGHT CONCUSSION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HONDA HAS HAD ANY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY REPAIRS PAID. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR ME TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE UNDER MY INSURANCE BECAUSE I HAVE A $1,000 DEDUCTIBLE AND THEY ARE LIKELY TO RAISE MY PREMIUMS. THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT. LET ME KNOW
THE A/C was not functioning. It failed for the second time. It was not blowing cold air. The A/C condenser failed. The condenser was replaced under the Honda warranty.
PAINT IS CHIPPING NEAR REAR WINDOW ON DRIVERS SIDE. AFTER SOME QUICK RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. BOUGHT IT CERTIFIED ONLY 3 MONTHS AGO.

The contact jerked the steering wheel side to side and the steering wheel started operating normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. No further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY HONDA DEALER. TOOK CAR TO MY AUTO SHOP AND THE AUTO SHOP CANNOT ORDER PART FROM THE HONDA. HE ALSO MENTIONED THERE ARE QUITE FEW FAILURE OF AC COMPRESSOR ON THIS MODEL. IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH COMPRESSOR AND IF HONDA HAVE A RECALL?
STEERING STARTS TO STICK ABOVE SPEEDS OF 45 MPH. WHEN TRYING TO CORRECT FROM CENTER WITHIN THE LANE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO STICK AND THEN JUMPS AND OVER-CORRECTS. I THEN HAVE TO COMPENSATE AND SHIFT THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE AND IT STICKS AND JUMPS AGAIN. IT MAKES THE CAR HARDER TO CONTROL/UNSTABLE AND YOU FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS BOPPING WITHIN THE LANE FROM THE MANY ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED TO CENTER THE CAR WITHIN THE LANE. I DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN IT'S SAFETY ANY LONGER.
