TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO OVER STEER. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOLLER HONDA DEALER LOCATED AT 2211 N SEMORAN BLVD, ORLANDO, FL 32807, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WOULD BE CONTACTED WITH THE RESULT OF THE TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V663000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,239.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WINDSHIELD DEFROST SYSTEM FAILED, AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO BE UNABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO IDE HONDA 875 PANORAMA TRL S, ROCHESTER, NY 14625 PHONE NUMBER (585) 586-2820 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CONDENSER THAT WAS ALLOWING THE FREON TO ESCAPE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.*DT *DT*JB
A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE IM STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT MY CAR STALLS, I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER BUT THEY DIDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I'M WORRIED THAT I GET IN TO A CAR ACCIDENT IF MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPS WHILE IM DRIVING.
THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR AT IDLE AND OCCASIONALLY EVEN WHEN DRIVING. THIS MAY POSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN HOTTER CLIMATES IF THERE ARE CHILDREN, ELDERLY PEOPLE, SPECIAL NEEDS PERSONS, OR PETS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED. READING THROUGH THE INTERNET, THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO A FAULTY AC CONDENSER FROM THE FACTORY. HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE CONDENSER ALONE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A FULL RECALL OR WARRANTY ON THE OTHER PARTS/LABOR INVOLVED. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 53K MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME BEING SERVICED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED (60 - 70 MPH) MY STEERING BEGAN TO "STICK". IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MAKE THE NORMAL SMALL STEERING ADJUSTMENTS TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT THAT ARE NEEDED ON THE HIGHWAY TO GO STRAIGHT AND STAY IN YOUR LANE. THE STICKING REQUIRED ME TO USE MORE FORCE, WHICH MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO STAY IN THE LANE AND MORE LIKELY TO ACCIDENTALLY HIT SOMEONE. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON 4 OCCASIONS. IT HAPPENS ON HOT DAYS (85 - 90 F DEGREES) AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. ONCE IT STARTS, IT CONTINUES AS LONG AS THE DRIVING CONTINUES.
THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHEN INITIALLY MAKING MINOR TURNS OR ADJUSTMENTS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING JERKING MOVEMENTS WHICH MAGNIFIES AT HIGHER SPEEDS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE. THIS CAN BE FELT AT ALL SPEEDS INCLUDING WHILE STILL.

I BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGINS TO DRIFT EVER SO SLIGHTLY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WHEN I GO TO CORRECT, THE STEERING WHEEL RESISTS. IT DOESN'T FREEZE BUT IT SORT OF "STICKS" UNTIL I APPLY A BIT MORE PRESSURE, AFTER WHICH IT SUDDENLY RELEASES, CORRECTS, AND ACTS COMPLETELY NORMAL. MOMENTS LATER HOWEVER, IT DRIFTS THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, AND I AM FORCED TO REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. END RESULT IS I BEGIN DRIFTING SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH DOWN THE HIGHWAY REPEATEDLY, ALL THE WHILE FIGHTING WITH A STEERING WHEEL THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO LET GO. I HAVE BEEN READING MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS BEING A RECALL ON THE CAR IN THE 2017 / 2018 MODEL YEAR. WHY NOT IN 2016?
A/C BLOWING WARM AIR ON DRIVER SIDE AND GETTING GRADUALLY COOLER TOWARDS PASSENGER SIDE. REPLACED CONDENSER 13 MONTHS AGO AND PAID OUT OF POCKET AS THIS WAS BEFORE EXTENDED WARRANTY. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP THIS TIME AND THEY CHARGED $80 FOR DIAGNOSIS TO SAY IT NEEDS A NEW HOSE WHICH WOULD COST $875. TOOK IT FOR SECOND OPINION, WAS TOLD THAT HOSE WAS FINE BUT NEEDED NEW VALVE BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FREON EQUIPMENT. WENT TO NEW PLACE THAT HAD RIGHT EQUIPMENT AND THEY ARE SAYING IT'S THE EVAPORATOR AND GOING TO BE $1300. NOW I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG ALL I KNOW IS THE CAR IS 3.5 YEARS OLD AND THE AC SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN.
THE STEERING FEELS "STICKY". MOST NOTABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT I SUSPECT IT IS OCCURRING OTHERWISE, JUST NOT AS NOTICEABLE WHEN YOU HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL COMPLETELY VS JUST STAYING IN LANE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT IS A CONSTANT WRESTLING MATCH TO KEEP THE CAR GOING IN THE DIRECTION YOU'D LIKE. WHAT WOULD TYPICALLY BE A GRADUAL AND EASY CONSTANT COURSE CORRECTION IS TRANSFORMED INTO A STRUGGLE TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF THE STUCK (MIGHT BE THE WRONG WORD, BUT IT'S EASY MOVEMENT IS GREATLY HINDERED) POSITION. THIS RESULTS IN AN OVER-CORRECTION BECAUSE ONCE YOU OVERCOME THE "STUCK" THE WHEEL IS JERKED FURTHER THAN INTENDED. THE STEERING WHEEL STICKING CAUSES THE CAR TO CAREEN ALL OVER THE LANE AND ROAD.
THE STABILITY BRAKING SYSTEM SUDDENLY FAIL. PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT WORK. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH ARE ON. THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY HAD ALREADY FIXED THE RECALL BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.

END RESULT IS I BEGIN DRIFTING SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH DOWN THE HIGHWAY REPEATEDLY, ALL THE WHILE FIGHTING WITH A STEERING WHEEL THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO LET GO THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE HIGHER AROUND 80+ DEGREES F. *TR
2016 HONDA CIVIC. PROBLEM WITH AIR CONDITIONING BLOWING HOT AIR BOTH WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. I TOOK TO THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD BOTH CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR HAD LEAKS. CONDENSER IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THE COMPRESSOR WAS NOT COSTING IN EXCESS OF $1100 TO REPAIR. WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THEY ARE RECEIVING 3-4 VEHICLES PER WEEK WITH THIS ISSUE. IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD START BEING STICKY OR KNOTCHY. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING WORKED FINE BUT FOR SUBTLE MOVEMENTS YOU FEEL RESISTANCE. THE RESISTANCE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO CHANGE LANES, AS IT FEELS LIKE A FORCE IS ACTING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND IT TAKES MORE STRENGTH THEN NECESSARY TO MAKE SUBTLE MOVEMENTS. THE ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. DOES NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY OPINION I HAVE READ FORUMS WHERE DEALERS HAVE COVERED THIS ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY, SO IT SHOULD BE A KNOWN ISSUE .
I TOOK MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC TO THE DEALER AFTER THE AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING IN JUNE OF 2020 TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR A LEAKING A/C CONDENSER, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PER A LETTER I RECEIVED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE CONDENSER IS LEAKING AND WOULD BE COVERED, BUT ALSO STATED THE COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1583.00. WHEN I ASKED IF A LEAKING CONDENSER COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPRESSOR THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T SURE. I THEN ASKED IF THEY WERE SEEING A NUMBER OF CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR FAILURES AT THE SAME TIME AND THEY SAID YES. THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS WITH SIMULTANEOUS LEAKS IN THEIR CONDENSERS AND COMPRESSORS. I BELIEVE THESE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AND HONDA SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON BOTH
THE AIR CONDITION IS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. EVEN IF YOU PUT ON HIGH IT TAKES 30-35 MINUTES TO COOL THE CAR....AND IT IS NOT THAT COLD.
HONDA CIVIC, MODEL YEAR 2016 HAS DEFECTIVE A/C SYSTEM. IN SHOP 3X SINCE 2017 TO REPAIR A/C, ON 3X THE COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SYSTEM DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR. HONDA REPLACED THE CONDENSER AT NO CHARGE, BUT CHARGED $599.00 FOR NEW COMPRESSOR. I BELIEVE HONDA IS AWARE OF THEIR DEFECTIVE A/C SYSTEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRAMAN HONDA OF PALM BEACH LOCATED AT 6200 LAKE WORTH RD, GREEN ACRES, FL 33463, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,217.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITH THE IGNITION OFF AND KEYS REMOVED, WHEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARKED AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ENDED UP HITTING AND RUNNING OVER A TREE STUMP AND GUARDRAIL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE THE UNDERNEATH OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V725000 (PARKING BRAKE) AS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,173.
MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC EX-T A/C RECENTLY STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT NEARLY $500 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. THEN THEY SAID THE COMPRESSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AND IT'LL COST OVER 2 GRAND. MY CAR NEARLY HAS 60K MILES AND THERE'S NO WAY THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD HAVE LEAKAGE. I TOOK GOOD CARE OF MY CAR. THE STEERING IS STICKING. WHEN DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE MINISCULE ROAD ADJUSTMENTS, THE STEERING STICKS AND TO CORRECT, THE WHEEL MAKES A JERK WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE. AGAIN, I AM VERY FRIGHTENED FOR MY SAFETY. WHEN DRIVING ON A WARM DAY ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING BECOMES VERY NOTCHY WHEN GOING STRAIGHT. WHEN DRIVING, THERE IS CONSTANT MINOR ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED TO BE MADE TO GO STRAIGHT, HOWEVER, EACH TIME I TRY TO MAKE THESE ADJUSTMENTS, THE STEERING WHEEL IS STUCK SO I AM SLIGHTLY DRIFTING LEFT OR RIGHT. OVER THE LAST YEAR MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I DIDN'T KNOW IF SOMETHING WAS WRONG UNTIL IT DID IT WHEN MY HUSBAND DROVE IT. A FEW WEEKS AGO I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND 2 DAYS LATER I WENT GROCERY SHOPPING AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START IT FINALLY DID AND I MADE IT HOME. LATER THAT AFTERNOON I STARTED MY CAR AND MY CABIN FILLED WITH THE WORSE SMELL OF GAS AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER GAGGED. MY DIPSTICK FOR OIL SMELT I F GAS TOO. I GOOGLED THIS AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS AN OIL DILUTION PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY CHECKED IT AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG BASICALLY BECAUSE IT DID NOT THROW A CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON. HONDA HAS NOT RECALLED THUS BUT THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE OFFERING A UPDATE BUT ONLY TO OWNERS BACK EAST IN COKD WEATHER STATES. WELL I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG AND MY DEALER SAID I CANT GET UPDATE UNLESS THEY SEE THAT CODE. I CAN'T CONTACT HONDA DIRECTLY BECAUSE THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE I MAY LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BUT I LIVE IN T HE MOUNTAINS AND ITS COLD AND SNOWY HERE 6 TO 8 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR SO I SHOULD BE ENTITLED TO THIS UPGRADE ALSO. BUT LOCAL DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING SO NOW I DRIVE IT AND CAUSE MORE HARM TO MY ENGINE I AM AWARE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON HONDA FIR THUS OIL DILUTION ISSUE AND B THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL. AIR CONDITIONER IN 2016 CIVIC FAILED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. HONDA COVERED THE CONDENSER BUT CHARGE FULL RACK TO REPLACE A CONNECTING HOSE, $450. NOW JUNE OF 2020 SAME ISSUE WHERE A/C IS BLOWING HOT AIR. HONDA DEALER TELLS ME THAT THE CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR NEED TO REPLACED. CONDENSER IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $1600. THESE PARTS ARE ALL FAULTY NEED TO BE COVERED. CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2018 AS A CPO FROM HONDA DEALER. CAR HAS UNDER 63K MILES. *TR

Air conditioning unit slowly quit blowing out cold air. Actually it happened in 2020. I read there was a problem with the unit holding Freon.
CAR HAS ONLY 33K MILES AND NEEDS A NEW COMPRESSOR AT A COST OF $1700. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF COMPRESSOR ISSUES WITH THE 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THEY NEED TO RECALL IT. *TR

A/C QUIT WORKING AT 30,000 MILES ONE YEAR OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER DIAGNOSED COMPRESSOR BEARING FAILURE - NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR DEFECTIVE CONDENSERS. COST TO REPAIR: $2,000 + THIS IS BOTH DANGEROUS DUE TO INOPERATIVE DEFROST/DEFOGGING AS WELL AS RISKING PASSENGER OVERHEATING IN EXTREME WEATHER - ESPECIALLY THOSE OF US WHO ARE SENIORS. *TR
OUR CIVIC'S STEERING BECAME VERY 'STICKY' AROUND 6 MONTHS AGO AND THE PROBLEM DEVELOPS AT SPEED. THE STEERING GETS JERKY AND MOMENTARILY GETS LOCKED IN A POSITION THAT WE NEED TO FIGHT AGAINST. WE HAD A SERVICE SCHEDULED AT HONDA AND ASKED THEM TO INSPECT THE ISSUE AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. THEY ARE DEFLECTING AND ARE SUGGESTING IT COULD BE CAUSED BY US RUNNING OVER SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE DAMAGED THE STEERING SETUP. THERE IS NO ALIGNMENT ISSUE AND THE CAR HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 16K MILES IN 4.5 YEARS (IT'S OUR SECOND CAR).
THIS CAR HAS THE INFAMOUS 1.5 LITER TURBOCHARGED EARTH DREAMS ENGINE FROM HONDA. EVEN AFTER THE PRODUCT UPDATE APPLIED TO THE CAR ON JAN 2019 WHILE IT WAS OWNED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER, IT STILL HAS A HIGH AMOUNT OF OIL DILUTION ISSUE WHICH WILL SEVERELY IMPACT THE CAR IN THE LONG RUN. PARKING THIS CAR IN A GARAGE AFTER A DRIVE MAKES THE WHOLE GARAGE SMELL LIKE GAS. AND A POINT TO NOTE IS THAT IT'S SUMMER HERE IN OHIO NOW. AFTER A FRESH OIL CHANGE RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND DRIVING A MERE DISTANCE OF 50 MILES ALREADY HAD DUMPED SO MUCH OF GAS INTO THE ENGINE THAT THE DIPSTICK HAD HIGH OIL LEVEL. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP RESULTED NO RESOLUTION AS THEY INSISTED THAT IT'S NORMAL. IT'S NOT NORMAL TO HAVE THAT AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE ENGINE SO I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT HONDA SHOULD MAKE A RECALL ON THIS CAR.
A/C UNIT AND ALL COMPONENTS OF AC HAS STOPPED WORKING, PREVIOUS OWNER REPLACED COMPONENTS AT DEALERSHIP, I HAD THE COMPONENTS REPLACED AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP! PARTS ARE FAULTY AND DON'T LAST!
I BOUGHT MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC NEW AND EVERY YEAR DURING THE SUMMER I EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE A/C NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS SUMMER SINCE IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC TO SEE IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT WHA THE HONDA DEALERS NEVER COULD WHILE MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S BLOWING HOT AIR. HE QUICKLY UNCOVERED I HAVE A LEAK AND THAT IT'S AN ISSUE WITH THE CONDENSER. HE DID A QUICK CHECK AND INFORMED ME THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THE DEALER WHO EXPLAINED THAT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED IN SAID RECALL. EVEN THOUGH IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR I OWN, HONDA IS REFUSING TO COVER IT. AGAIN, MY A/C HAS BEEN ON ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND I'VE ALWAYS STRUGGLED TO HAVE HONDA FIX IT. THEY DID CHANGE OUT THE COMPRESSOR LAST YEAR WHICH STOPPED MY VENTS FROM SMOKING BUT SURE AS CAN BE, AS IT DOES EVERY YEAR, IT'S BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN.
AC COMPRESSOR LEAKING. DEALERSHIP ADMITS ONGOING ISSUE. ESTIMATE REPAIR AT $2300. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN CALIFORNIA ALREADY IN MOTION FOR THIS ISSUE. HONDA ONLY OFFERING PARTIAL ASSISTANCE WITH THIS REPAIR. ADMITTED IT'S DEIGN/MANUFACTURING FLAW. HONDA NEEDS TO BE COMPELLED TO RECALL 2016-2018 CIVICS TO FIX THIS FLAW. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY BEEN DYING AND HAVING ALL OF THE ERROR CODES POP UP WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BY TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS. HOWEVER EVEN WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR STARTS FREAKING OUT AND LOSING POWER. WE HAVE VERIFIED THAT NOTHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND HAVE HAD THE BATTERY TESTED TWICE. THE BATTERY MUST NOT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS MESSING UP SO MUCH THAT WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I'M HOPING BY VISITING THE DEALERSHIPS SO MANY TIMES THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO FILE A LEMON LAW VEHICLE AND RETURN THE VEHICLE THAT WAS ONLY PURCHASED A FEW MONTHS AGO.
STARTED TO NOTICE SLIGHT STIFFNESS WITH NO VEERING IN STEERING ON SHORT COMMUTES TO WORK GOING HWY SPEED. ONCE I STARTED TO DRIVE LONGER TRIPS AND HIGHER SPEEDS, I KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH STEERING SIGNIFICANTLY! THE STEERING IS NO LONGER HAVE THE GLIDING CONTROL LIKE NORMAL. NOW IT SEEMS MORE STIFF LIKE STICKING WHILE CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL. WENT FROM A GLIDE STEER TO FORCEFULLY HAVING TO JERK STEERING BACK TO CONTROL IT (SIMILAR TO A STICKY BUTTON) BUT IT'S THE DARN STEERING WHEEL. SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO START HAPPENING OUT OF THE BLUE WITH NO ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND ALL MAINTENANCE KEPT UP TO DATE IS A BIG ISSUE! THIS REALLY SUCKS AND I HAVE SEEN HOW MUCH THIS TYPE OF ISSUE COST. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN 'ELECTRICAL ISSUE' ON A BROAD SCALE (FEWER MILES AND HIGHER MILES HONDA) THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. NOT A CONSUMER OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE!
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT DOES NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK WITH KEYLESS ENTRY. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE IS TO MANUALLY PULL OUT THE KEY FROM THE KEY FOP AND INSERT IT INTO THE DOOR OR OPEN IT UP FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CURRENT KEY FOPS BECAUSE THIS WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS GIVEN 2 NEW KEY FOPS, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS CAN BE A HUGE ISSUE WHEN I'M TRYING TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY AND CAN'T EVEN GET INTO THE VEHICLE PROMPTLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2016 CIVIC LX 2 DOOR. RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY STEERING FEELS VERY STRANGE. IT FEELS ALMOST NOTCHY OR STICKY LIKE THERE IS SOME SORT OF BIND OR SOMETHING. I'LL BE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND GO TO ADJUST FOR A CURVE IN THE ROAD AND FEEL RESISTANCE AT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAVE TO USE SLIGHT FORCE TO OVERCOME IT RESULTING IN THE CAR TO OVERCORRECT AND JERK SIDEWAYS. TRIED TO START CAR (IN WALMART PARKING LOT) AFTER SHOPPING. WOULDN'T START. INSTEAD, ALL SYSTEMS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON: POWER STEERING, PARKING BRAKE, BRAKE FAILURE, TPMS, TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, HILL ASSIST SYSTEM, ABS SYSTEM, ETC. ALL THESE WARNINGS KEPT CYCLING THROUGH ON THE DASHBOARD WHEN I TRIED TO START CAR. TOW COMPANY CAME AND JUMP STARTED BATTERY JUST TO SEE IF THAT WOULD START CAR. IT DID! BUT WARNINGS CONTINUED TO CYCLE THROUGH ALL PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED ITEMS WHILE I DROVE CAR TO MECHANIC. DID NOT TURN CAR OFF TILL I GOT THERE FOR FEAR IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. *TR
AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN OCT 2016 AND HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED PAYING IT AND THE AC IS ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER WAS INOPERABLE DUE TO THE AIR CONDITIONER BEING INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS FOGGED UP WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PENSKE HONDA (4140 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240 317-399-9890, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
AS DESCRIBED BY MANY OTHER LISTED COMPLAINTS, MY CAR'S STEERING STICKS OCCASIONALLY WHILE OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN IT IS STUCK IT REQUIRES EXTRA EFFORT TO DO MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT HEADING. THE EXTRA EFFORTS CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK LEFT AND RIGHT WHEN MAKING MINOR STEERING CORRECTIONS. THIS ISSUE STARTS AFTER THE CAR IS WARMED UP AND DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 10-20 MINUTES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2016 AND I'VE COMPLAINED A FEW TIMES DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS BUT ALWAYS RECEIVE THE RESPONSE THAT THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE. BY THE AMOUNT OF FILED COMPLAINTS AND LISTED COMMENTS ONLINE IT OBVIOUSLY IS AN ISSUE. WE LOVE OUR HONDA CIVIC BUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE AMOUNT OF OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE ALONE HAS CONVINCED ME TO NEVER BUY A CIVIC AGAIN. WE JUST RETURNED FROM A ROAD TRIP OF OVER 3100 MILES AND IT NEARLY DROVE ME NUTS SINCE IT CAUSED JERKY RECOVERIES DURING PROBABLY WELL MORE THAN 2500 MILES OF THE TRIP. When I’m driving the steering wheel gets stuck and the only way to get it unstuck is to pull hard enough to break the jam. It always gets stuck pulling to the left because every time I have to get it unstuck I have to pull to the right to break the jam.It happens every day and it’s really frustrating. Every time this happens is after 15-20 minutes driving. This is a serious safety hazard specially in a long drive because you are literally fighting the car to keep it in the center of the lane! 2016 Honda civic touring 62,000 miles It started doing this after 3 years with the car and approximately 37,000 miles. I remember because I took the car to the dealership and they told me that my basic warranty had expired at 36,000 miles or 3 years and the diagnosis and fixtures were going to be out of my pocket.
AFTER DRIVING FOR AROUND 30 MINUTES THE STEERING STARTS "STICKING". AIR CONDITIONER ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOT COOLING/BLOWING WARM AIR. HONDA DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SYSTEM SLIGHTLY LOW, AND FOUND AC COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING. COST TO REPAIR IS $1900.00. OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC HAD 33K MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR LEAKING IS A COMMON PROBLEM! THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR WITH 33K MILES ON IT!!! I HAVE BEEN A HONDA OWNER FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND EXPECT HONDA TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR/COOLING SYSTEM FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THE REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF RELIABILITY OF HONDA CARS, AND THAT AN AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST MORE THAN JUST A FEW YEARS WITH LOW MILEAGE. A/C is not working I own a 2016 Civic now for a little over 3 years and over the years I've noticed that the A/C just doesn't work I have R1234yf refrigerant which isn't cheap or easily accessible. Finally after hearing about somebody who almost bought a 2019 civic that did in fact have a recall on some A/C component I tried reaching out to a Honda dealership nearest to my home. When I was told there are in fact recalls for some vehicles but that mine was not defected. I would need to pay $220$ to run the diagnostic on it as well as recharge the system. I just told them to forget about fixing the A/C and went home and after looking everywhere for my specific refrigerant I found it finally and recharged the system with the help of YouTube obviously I follow somebody who is a ASE certified mechanic and knows what there doing so to my knowledge there where no way of messing anything up. I personally found that the system was literally empty as empty can be, some may say dry even. And after recharging my system the A/C had never worked better. The reason I feel the need to finally reach out for sources on fixing things in my civic is because I have a friend who owns a 2020 civic and just last week they received a letter in the mail informing them that there is in fact a recall for there car effecting leaking A/C fluid and that the effected vehicle years are 2016 - 2020. Please if NHTSA can help me please do.
