STEERING ISSUE- ONCE WARMED UP AND AT HIGHER SPEEDS (NOTICED ON HIGHWAY) CAR PULL LEFT AND RIGHT. MUST USE FORCE TO CORRECT MERGING OF THE CAR. RESPONSE TIME IS LOW WHEN YOU TRY TO CORRECT THE CAR BACK INTO YOUR LANE. ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE WHEEL IS STICKING
OUR CIVIC RAN OUT OF FREON LITERALLY AT 36,100 MILES ON OUR WAY TO LAS VEGAS FOR A WEDDING WHERE IT WAS 110 DEGREES ALL WEEKEND.AC STOPPED WORKING!! TOOK TO DEALER THEY DID A DIYE TEST THEY TOLD US COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS I HAD TO PAY FOR THE FREON TO BE FILLED BACK UP AGAIN THEY GAVE ME A FORM FROM AMERICAN HONDA TO REQUEST MY REFUND THEY DENIED IT WHICH I COULDN'T BELIEVE SO ALL THE FREON WENT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE THAT'S AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD- 9 MONTHS LATER NOW TODAY APRIL 2020 THE CAR AC WENT HOT AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THERE WAS NO FREON NOW THEY SAID IT LEAKED OUT AGAIN IT EVEN THOUGH THEY CHECK FOR THE LEAKS AND THEY WANT TO $3000 TO FIX IT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
A/C system.- compressor &/or shaft seal leak- As we were driving our BRAND NEW Honda civic to Las Vegas for our daughter’s wedding on July 12, 2019 in the heat of 115 degrees, the AC stopped working & started blowing hot air, we were forced to continue our 5 hour journey in this unsafe driving condition since it was our daughter’s wedding. This was at 36,100 miles, just 100 miles out of warranty. The recall had not happened yet & we were unaware other people were experiencing the same issues with this same AC system Honda used. I Took it to my local Honda dealer upon return of the torturous unsafe trip and they wanted $3000 to fix the problem they took no blame for it. I immediately filed a complaint with safecar.gov #11322455. 4 years later, PARTS of the Ac system were recalled & I was sent a letter from American Honda stating show us the invoices you had to pay before the recall happened. I did exactly what they said and they denied all of my expenses. I am in shock. This was not my problem their defected AC system leaked Freon. That was their system that they put into that brand new car that was worthless. They cut corners used a cheaper outside contractor it’s obvious. I have $552.93, in repairs that American Honda has refused to reimburse me for and I went through the whole process they requested it’s not right. I should be paid for what I had to pay on that AC system before the recall. It was not my fault it was their fault.
TAKATA RECALL. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 YRS. THE PROBLEM WITH IT IS THAT, WHEN I COME TO A STOP WHILE DRIVING IT DOESN'T WANNA TAKE OFF. IT HESITATES FOR ABOUT 30 SEC. THE PROBLEM IS THAT ITS DANGEROUS WHEN I TURN LEFT IT STAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ST AND I CAN GET HIT. AT ONE POINT I HAD TO PUT IT IN EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND TURN IT OFF AND ON. THEN IT WORKED. ITS BEEN DOING IT FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS AT LEAST TWICE A DAY. IT STARTED IN ABOUT APRIL. AT FIRST IT WASN'T THAT OFTEN THEN IT STARTED EVERYDAY. IT HAPPENS ANYWHERE, ST HIGHWAY, FWY, CITY EVEN WHEN I WANNA REVERSE. IM NOT SURE WHY ITS DOING IT I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE MECHANIC ABOUT 4 TIMES. I DO ALL OIL CHANGES EVERYTHING , TIRE CHANGES, ROTATIONS, THE MECHANIC CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. HE EVEN CHANGED A SENSOR AND IT STILL DOES IT.
THE STEERING IS VERY JERKY AND SOMETIMES STICK. IT STICKS AND YOU HAVE TO SNATCH IT IN ORDER FOR IT TO TURN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK WHILE DRIVING OVER 55.
EPS SUB HARNESS IS MADE FROM A SOY BASED PRODUCT THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS AND A COMMON CAUSE FOR WIRES BEING CHEWED AND DESTROYED. AS SOON AS WE PRESENTED THE PROBLEMS WITH HONDA MECHANIC HE IMMEDIATELY AND SUSPICIOUSLY ASKED IF WE PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE. UPON HIS INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE HE ONLY LOOKED AT WIRES WITH PREDETERMINATION THAT THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUES WAS WIRING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLIANT AMONG THE HONDA COMMUNITY AND LAW SUITS HAVE BEEN FILED, ONLY TO BE DISMISSED DUE TO TECHNICALITIES OF PROBABLE CAUSE. THE DAMAGE ENDANGERS THE CONSUMER DRIVING BECAUSE THE CAR STALLS AND THE DRIVER LOSES THE ABILITY TO STEER BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND FUNCTION. BECAUSE THESE ARE SHORTS OCCURRING IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THEY TEND TO CLEAR UP IN BETWEEN DRIVES MAKING THE DRIVER BELIEVE THE CAR IS FUNCTIONAL, BUT THIS ONLY RISES THE RISK TO INJURY BY ACCIDENT AND OR EVEN DEATH.
AFTER DRIVING MY 2016 CIVIC (WITH LESS THAN 18K MILES) ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MORE THAN ~15 MINUTES, THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AWAY FROM CENTER. THIS STICKY STEERING REQUIRES ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO TURN THE WHEEL FROM STRAIGHT. THIS WAS VERY NOTICEABLE EVEN WHEN TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR IN MY LANE. AND AFTER THE STEERING BECOMES STICKY, IT PERSISTS EVEN AT LOWER SPEEDS OFF THE HIGHWAY. MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED (AND REPLACED) A FAILED ELECTRICAL POWER-STEERING RACK. I SAW MANY OTHER PEOPLE DESCRIBING THIS SAME PROBLEM IN VARIOUS ONLINE CAR AND CIVIC FORUMS.
AC EXPANSION VALVE FAILED PREMATURELY (BEFORE 50,000 MI) BUT OUTSIDE OF FACTORY WARRANTY. CAUSES AC TO BE INOPERATIVE AND WINDOWS TO FOG UP AND IMPAIR VISIBILITY, ESPECIALLY IN VERY HUMID WEATHER. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE AMBIENT TEMPERATURES IN TX AND THE SOUTH CAN EASILY REACH 100+ BEFORE ANY EFFECTS OF THE SUN OR HUMIDITY.
NO COLD AIR COMING OUT WITH AC ON. NEEDED TO REPLACE A LEAKING AC COMPRESSOR AT 45,000 MILES.
STEERING BECOMES VERY RESISTANT TO INPUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60MPH +) REQUIRING CONSIDERABLE FORCE TO OVERCOME OFTEN RESULTING IN OVER CORRECTION. HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITANTLY SINCE PASSING THE 50000 MILE MARKER.

MANY SITES HAVE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT WERE FOUND BY A SEARCH
THE AC COMPRESSOR IS NOT WORKING, AND LEAKING FLUIDS WHICH IS BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. PURCHASED VEHICLE AND DEALERSHIP "CHARGED UP" THE COMPRESSOR, 3 DAYS LATER IT WAS NOT WORKING. TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY FILLED IT UP AGAIN, 3 DAYS LATER IT STOPPED WORKING. THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE, BUT THERE IS AN AC COMPRESSOR FAILURE IN THIS MODEL, WHICH I UNFORTUNATELY HAVE.
A/C SYSTEM BECAME NON FUNCTIONAL AT 41,000 MILES. OBVIOUSLY JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. BEEN READING ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE A/C SYSTEM IN THE 2016 HONDA CIVIC. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT HONDA HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL OR THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS REGARDING THIS SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF. SINCE I OWE LESS ON THIS CAR THAN WHAT THE REPAIRS WILL COST, I'M PLANNING ON TRADING IT IN FOR A 2020 HATCHBACK VERSION AND HOPE THAT THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN CORRECTED WITH THE NEWER MODELS.
The day i bought this car the ac went out. I had to go back to dealer the next morning. I later on learned They just fiddled with it to make it work temporarily. By the next summer ac went out again, this time defrosters didn't work, heater didn't work, ac obviously didn't work. And ive Been dealing with it like this for over 2 years. Honda is not helping at all.
ONE DAY AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR 2 REASONS; IT WAS MAKING A LOUD SCREECHING SOUND AND IT WAS BLOWING HOT AIR FROM THE AC. THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME AC BLOWING COLD. EXACTLY 1 YEAR LATER SAME PROBLEM. AC BLOWING HOT AIR. ITS DISRUPTIVE WHILE DRIVING AND EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. TO THE POINT THAT I CAN NOT STAND IT. I WONT DRIVE IT UNLESS IT I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO AND THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM.
AC IS FAULTY FROM THE FACTORY. FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2016, THE AC HAS BEEN MAKING HISSING NOISES THAT WERE RPM DEPENDENT. WHEN I TOOK IT IN UNDER WARRANTY, THEY CHARGED THE FREON AND IT WAS BACK TO HOW IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING. BECAUSE IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR, I THOUGHT THE HISSING NOISE WAS NORMAL. BUT IT STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR ANOTHER YEAR AFTER IT WAS FIXED. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS A FAULTY CONDENSOR WAS THE CULPRIT, AND THE REPAIR BILL WOULD BE $1160. IT TURNS OUT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE, WHERE DEALERS CHARGED THE FREON WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM BEFORE WARRANTY, BUT QUICKLY FIND THE CONDENSOR OR COMPRESSOR BROKEN AFTER THE WARRANTY FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS.
TOUCH SCREEN PANEL THAT CONTROLS THE ENTIRE SETTINGS OF THE CAR OVER HEATS AND BLOCKS OUT MAKING IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND UPSETTING NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR /C SETTINGS OR YOUR RADIO AND YOUR PHONE. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC TOURING THAT SAME YEAR BACK MULTIPLE TIMES IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER EVERY TIME WE TOOK IT THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. SINCE THEN THE TOUCH SCREEN PANEL HAS SOME WHAT WORKED PROPERLY TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS JUST SLOW IN FUNCTIONING BUT WORKABLE. THIS TIME ON JUNE 27, 2019 IT HAS COMPLETLY DONE THE SAME THING WE WERE FACING IN THE BEGINNING AND THIS IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION, I HAVE TRIED RESETTING IT BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND JOINING CABLES TOGETHER AND IT JUST DIDNT WORK IT CONTINUES TO NOT WORK PROPERLY SINCE DAY OF PURCHASE.I WOULD LIKE FOR SOME ONE TO HELP US RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND TO REPLACE OUR PANEL FOR A GOOD WORKING ONE.
MY AC IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY ONE VENT IS MORE COOLER THAN THE VENT THAT IS ON THE DRIVER SIDE.
A/C STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR AROUND 40,000 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO REFUSED TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE IN THE SUMMER TO DRIVE A 7 YEAR OLD AND INFANT WITHOUT A/C. I'M CONSIDERING TRADING IT IN FOR SOMETHING OLDER AND WITHOUT THIS NEW A/C SYSTEM.
STICKING STERING WHEEL. MY STEERING "STICKS" AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20-30 MINS AT AROUND 40/45+ MPH WHEN TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 70F. TAKE YOUR HAND OFF THE WHEEL ON A SLIGHT CURVE AND IT STAYS WITH THE CURVE. TRYING TO DO A SLIGHT CORRECTION WHEN IT'S LIKE THIS AND IT LITERALLY STICKING IN PLACE FOR A SEC THEN ALLOWS THE WHEEL TO TURN MORE FREELY.
SO I JUST BOUGHT A 2016 HONDA CIVIC LX 2.0 USED TODAY WITH 26,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP WAS A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR AWAY AND ABOUT 30 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE HOME I NOTICED THE STEERING FELT LIKE IT WAS STICKING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65MPH. IT FELT NOTCHY AND STICKY LIKE I HAD TO USE A LITTLE FORCE TO START BEING ABLE TO STEER AGAIN. WHICH CAUSES YOU TO OVERCORRECT A BIT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ON THE HIGHWAY. I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE'S LIKE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.. THE SOLUTION SEEMS TO BE A NEW STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY...

2016 HONDA CIVIC, AIR CONDITIONING QUIT WORKING CAUSING THE DEFROSTER NOT TO WORK CREATING A DANGEROUS VISIBILITY BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD REMAINED FOGGY.
STEERING WHEEL STICKS (RESISTANCE TO TURNING) WHEN CAR IS WARMED UP. MOST NOTABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO GET A STICKING FEELING WHEN TRYING TO MAKE SMALL MOVEMENTS. THIS CAUSES YOU TO OVERCORRECT YOUR STEERING AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU CAN POTENTIALLY RUN INTO ANOTHER PERSON OR OBJECT. YOU FEEL A CLICKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT IS MOST NOTABLE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO WORSEN THE MORE YOU DRIVE. MY CAR ONLY HAVE 32000 MILES ON IT.
CAR DID NOT START, AND FLASHED WARNING SIGNS FOR ELECTRONIC BREAK MALFUNCTION. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT AFTER BEING DORMANT FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 HOURS. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE IN 3 WEEKS, THE FIRST OF WHICH HONDA FAILED TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM AFTER BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PULLING INTO HIS DRIVEWAY, THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HALL HONDA VIRGINIA BEACH (LOCATED AT 3516 VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452, (877) 475-0724), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CASE WOULD BE OPENED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,256.
AS I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT THEY TRIED TO SAY IT ''TWAS BAD TIRES THEY REPLACED IT WHEN IT WAS REALLY THE WHEEL BEARINGS. AND I'M IN FINANCE WITH NO BACKGROUND IN CAR MECHANICS AND I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG AS SOON AS I DROVE OF THE LOT. AND THEN THEY TRIED TO SAY WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN BUT SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS AND MECHANICS SAID IT WASN'T OBVIOUS SO THEY FIXED IT. I THEN TOLD THEM BEFOREHAND I GOT THE VEHICLE PURCHASED THAT I REQUIRED A STATE INSPECTION TO MAKE SURE IT FELL UNDER THE INSPECTION RULES OF TEXAS AND THEY SWORE AND SIGNED OFF ON PAPERWORK THAT THIS WAS DONE ON TWO SEPARATE WORK FORMS. WELL WHILE I WAS DRIVING I WAS RAN OFF THE ROAD AS MY HORN DIDN'T FUNCTION AT ALL AFTER THEY HAD SWORN THEY HAD DONE TWO INSPECTIONS AT THIS POINT AND I HAVE THE PAPERWORK TO PROVE IT. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE IN AN ACCIDENT IF I HAD NO DROVE OFF IN THE SHOULDER AND THE. I COME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TRY TO SAY IT WASN'T THEM AND THAT IT COULD HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON ITS OWN WHICH I FIND VERY SUSPICIOUS. THEY THEN THREATENED TO NOT FIX MY CAR WHEN I SAID THREE NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AS THEY ARE NOT LIVING UP TO THE STANDARDS SET DORTRH. I ALSO HAD THE CAR STEREO AND ELECTRONICS GO WILD AND THEY WOULDN'T STOP URNINF ON MUSIC AND TURNING IT TO MAX VOLUME AND IT WOULDN'T STOP TIL I SHUT THE CAR OF WHIC IS SUPER DISTRACTING WHEN I'M TRYING TO DRIVE.
2016 HONDA CIVIC LX, APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES HAS A "STICKY" OR "NOTCHY" FEEL TO THE STEERING DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE DRIFTS SLOWLY TO ONE SIDE OF THE LANE, THEN WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT BACK TO THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE, THE STEERING FEELS STICKY AND WITH SLIGHTLY MORE EFFORT TO NUDGE IT TO THE MIDDLE, IT OVERCORRECTS SLIGHTLY AND IS THEN DRIFTING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LANE. THIS CONTINUES BACK AND FORTH FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP. NOTE THAT THIS IS SUBTLE AND IT TAKES 5-10 SECONDS FOR EACH DRIFT SIDE TO SIDE. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED ON LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR AT LEAST 30 OR 45 MINUTES. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ELECTRONIC STEERING PROBLEM WILL CAUSE SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN WHERE I DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I NOTICED ALSO A POSSIBLE RELATED PROBLEM WHEN AT PARKING SPEED, IF I INCH THE CAR WHILE TURNING AND PRESSING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY I CAN FEEL THE STEERING "TWITCH" A LITTLE.
UPON RETURN TO CAR AFTER LEAVING CAR LOCKED, FOUR WINDOWS ARE FOUND OPEN ALL THE WAY WHILE SHOPPING, PARKED IN PARKING LOT OR PARKED AT HOME OR ELSEWHERE, WHEN OPENING WINDOWS FROM INSIDE, GLASS GOES UP/DOWN REPEATEDLY, TRUNK OPENS BY ITSELF WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. CAR IS UNSAFE, SUBJECT TO THEFT, OR INTERIOR DAMAGE BY THE ELEMENTS-RAIN, SNOW, ETC. SERIOUS ELECTRICAL/CONTROL PROBLEMS. TRUNK PROBLEM WAS REPORTED EARLIER TO NHTSA SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE DATE OF 3/05/2019 FROM DEALER. DEALER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED, THEY QUICKLY CHECKED & FOUND NOTHING WRONG. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN INTERSTATE, COUNTY ROADS, LOCAL STREETS, AT DIFFERENT DATES, ETC. *JS
A/C STOPPED WORKING AFTER 55,000 MILES AND OWNING FOR 3 YEARS. WHEN DISCUSSED WITH THE DEALER, THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE AIR CONDENSER THAT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. STANDARD LIFETIME FOR AN AIR CONDENSER IS WELL BEYOND THE 3 YEAR TIMEFRAME. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS 2016 HONDA CIVIC'S IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WAS OVER $1,000 WITH MY DEALER AND SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING AT THIS POINT IN THE CAR'S LIFE.

THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT OF MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN FAILED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER HAVING WORKED PROFITABLY AT THE START OF THIS SUMMER SEASON. REPLACING THE FUSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER'S FUNCTION DID NOT YIELD IN A CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. AFTER HAVING TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CONDENSER OF THE CIVIC WAS FAULTY. NEITHER TRAUMA NOR DAMAGE WAS FOUND BY THE SERVICE PERSONNEL. FURTHERMORE, THEY HAD INDICATED THAT THIS IS QUITE A COMMON COMPLAINT OF THIS YEAR'S MODEL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF THIS MANUFACTURING ISSUE.
HAD BRAKES DONE CAR RAN PERFECTLY FINE UNTIL I DROVE ABOUT 71 MILES OUT PARKED CAR AND GOT BACK INTO CAR TURNED IT ON AGAIN TO HEAD BACK HOME WHEN ANTI BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THIS IS ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM, BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT STAYS ON AND WHEN ACCELERATING THE RED BRAKE LIGHT FLASHES UNTIL THE CAR IS EITHER PLACED ON CRUISE CONTROL OR COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP ON ON DRIVE REVERSE IT DOES NOT FLASH.
A/C DOES NOT WORK WELL. CAR BLOWS WARM AIR. VEHICLE HAS 32,900 MILES.
PARKING DOES NOT START ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM
UPON CLOSING THE CAR TRUNK THE PARKING LIGHTS FLASHED & STAYED ON AND THE CAR "LOCKED-UP". THE CAR COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED USING EITHER THE KEY-BOB OR THE KEY. THIS ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO HONDA (CASE #9624986) WHO BASICALLY IGNORED THE ISSUE STATING THAT THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES 'FOOLING' WITH THE KEY AND KEY-BOB THE PARKING LIGHTS WENT OFF AND WE WERE ABLE TO UNLOCK & DRIVE THE CAR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS ISSUE FOUND ON THE INTERNET BY "GOOGLING" "2016 HONDA CIVIC DOORS WON'T UNLOCK"
AC COMPRESSOR LEAKING
THE AC KEEPS GOING OUT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE COMPRESSOR REPLACE TWICE AND 2 OTHER PARTS REPLACED TWICE. THE FREON STARTS TO BLOW OUT OF THE VENTS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS I ALWAYS HAVE MY KIDS WITH ME. WE ALWAYS HAVE INFECTIONS THAT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO BREATHINNG IN THIS FREON. EVERY YEAR IT GETS FIXED IN THE SUMMER. IT WORKS FINE FOR OYR 2 SUMMER MONTHS THEN I DONT HAVE TO USE IT THAT OFTEN BUT AS SOON AS THE HEAT ROLLS UP AGAIN I TAKE IT IN FOR A CHECK AND IT HAS NO FREON LEFT.
AC IS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR. MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR SYSTEM IS LEAKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR IS AT AROUND 38000 MILES AND IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN 3 YEARS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND ABSOLUTELY UNBEARABLE DURING THE SUMMER.
STEERING STIFFENS UP VEERS, FEELS LOCKED, AND REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO CORRECT CAUSING A SWAY INTO AN ADJACENT LANE. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER VEHICLE IS DRIVEN 20-30 MINS AND SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWN THIS IS A COMMON EPS FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE. THE EPS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK IS A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN, AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE, AND SHOULD NOT FAIL SO EARLY IN ITS LIFE. REQUEST NHTSA REQUIRE HONDA TO RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY. *TR

MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR FAILED AND NO LONGER BLOWS COLD AIR. I REVIEWED SEVERAL HONDA MESSAGE BOARDS AND FORUMS AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE THAT HOMDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE.
WHEN THE WARMER WEATHER STARTED, I NOTICED MY AIR CONDITIONING WAS ONLY GIVING OUT COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT ASSESS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE CAR FOR THAT YEAR. I BROUGHT IT TO THE HONDA DEALER FOR REPAIRS ON MAY 20, 2019 WHERE THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW CONDENSER DUE TO A LEAK. THEY COULD NOT SAY WHAT CAUSED THE LEAK, BUT THE HONDA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STAYED THAT DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE THAT YEAR, SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A ROCK COULD HAVE EASILY PUNCTURED THE CONDENSER. THE TOTAL AMOUNT IN REPAIRS WAS $907 ON A THREE YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IT WAS ALSO STATED THAT SINCE THIS IS SUCH A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE, I COULD NOT FILE A CLAIM THROUGH MY COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONAL (DISCOVERED MAY 2019). BLOWS ONLY HOT AIR. 31-32K MILEAGE ON CAR (ON MAY 2019). PURCHASED CAR NEW IN FEB 2016. HAD NOTICED A DECREASE IN COOLING EFFICIENCY IN SUMMER OF 2018, BUT DIDN'T TAKE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION, SINCE I DON'T USE A/C MUCH. DIDN'T NEED TO USE A/C AGAIN UNTIL MAY 2019. CAR WAS <4 MONTHS OVER 3 YEAR WARRANTY (BUT UNDER 36K MILES), SO DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR COST UNDER WARRANTY. WAS GIVEN REPAIR ESTIMATE OF $1,150, WHICH WAS TO COVER COST OF REPLACING A/C CONDENSER, O-RING IN DISCHARGE LINE, AND NEW REFRIGERANT RE-CHARGE. WHEN DRIVING IN RAINY, HIGH HUMIDITY WEATHER, WINDOWS MORE PRONE TO FOGGING UP BECAUSE THERE'S NO COOL AIR TO BLOW ON INSIDE OF WINDOW TO CLEAR CONDENSATION - BECAUSE A/C SYSTEM IS NON-FUNCTIONING.
THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE AC CONDENSER CAUSING THE NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT, AS WELL AS THE SENSOR. THE CORPORATE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE EVEN ADMITTED ON THE PHONE THAT THEIR DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE CONDENSERS ON THE CIVIC MODELS, INCLUDING UNITS DELIVERED FROM THE FACTOR THAT HAD ALREADY FAILED. A SIMPLE SEARCH OF CREDITED AUTOMOTIVE REVIEW SITES SHOWN MANY EXAMPLES FOR THIS MODEL YEAR, WHERE THE AC UNITS HAVE FAILED. AS THE CORPORATE OFFICE HAS FAILED TO ISSUES A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, I ASK THAT YOU LOOK INTO THIS AND PROTECT THE CONSUMER. THANK YOU.

DEALER WANTS $2,382.15 TO REPLACE A/C COMPRESSOR W/ CLUTCH AND COIL ($1500.26), CONDENSER ($599.04), EVACUATE AND RECHARGE COMPLETE($159.95) FILTERS AND AIR CLEANERS ($122.90) , AIR VENTALATION SYSTEM CLEANING ($89.95). 2016 HONDA CIVIC EX 70,491 MILES. LAST YEAR I BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER AND THEY VACUUMED AND REFILLED THE SYSTEM ($159.95). THIS YEAR SAME PROBLEM, NO COLD AIR AND NOW BEING TOLD ENTIRE SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. I CAN NOT PROPERLY CLEAR MY FRONT WINDSHIELD BECAUSE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A/C .
THE PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATES RANDOMLY WITHOUT MY MANUALLY ACTIVATING IT. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY BUT WHEN IT DOES ITS ANNOYING.
A/C EVAPORATOR COIL HAD BAD WELD. $1600 REPAIR AFTER EVAPORATOR COIL REPLACEMENT, EVAC, AND REFILL OF FREON.
