SUNROOF EXPLODED. WE WERE DRIVING ALONG ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT IN LATE NOVEMBER AND HEARD A LOUD THUD ABOVE US. THE SUNROOF SHADE WAS CLOSED THANKFULLY BECAUSE WHEN I OPENED IT TO CHECK, WE REALIZED THAT THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED.
NOT SURE IF IT'S THE BATTERY OR THE BATTERY SENSOR BUT MY CAR WHEN I WANT TO TURN IT ON IT'LL NOT TURN ON AND IT WOULD JUST FLASH ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE BOARD AND WON'T FULLY TURN ON.
I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC 2016 AND MY AC WAS NOT WORKING SINCE LAST YEAR 2018. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER SHIP AND BEING TOLD THAT I NEED TO PAY $295 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS WHICH I REFUSED TO DO IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND YESS THEY DO AND A LOT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER SHIP TODAY AFTER I GOT RECALLED LETTER FOR THE CONDENSER. AFTER 6 HRS, THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT MY CONDENSER IS GOOD, BUT MY COMPRESSOR IS NOT AND THE REPAIR FEE WILL BE UP TO $1200. IF I REFUSE TO FIX IT, I STILL NEED TO PAY $395 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS FEE WHICH IS STUPID. I LOOKED IT UP AGAIN AND HAD READ A LOT OF COMPLAINT ABOUT THE COMPRESSOR. I AM PAYING OFF MY CAR WHICH I OWN FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS AND NOW EVERYTHING IS ALREADY BROKEN. THIS IS MY FIRST HONDA CAR AND I REGRET THAT I CHOSE HONDA. I HOPE HONDA DO SOME RESEARCH AND READ ABOUT PEOPLE COMPLAINT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. NEVER BUY HONDA AGAIN.
WITH ONLY 18,461 MILES ON MY TIRES, AND STILL 6/32 AS OF VERY RECENT HONDA SERVICE VISIT MY REAR DRIVERS TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 72MPH. I VERY LOUD POP, NO TIRE INDICATOR DISPLAYED AND THE TIRE HAD DISCENEGRATED. VERY SCARY! THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, EVEN ACCORDING TO MY LAST TIRE INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND HESITATED. OCCASIONALLY, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, MULTIPLE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, INDICATING FAILURES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, STEERING, AND STABILITY CONTROL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (APPLE HONDA 1, 801 WHITEFORD RD, YORK, PA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WENT OUT. BLOWS WARM AIR AND MAKES HISSING NOISES. IT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD REDUCING VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING IT UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED. IT TAKES OVER 10 MINUTES TO DEFOG THE VEHICLE.
THE REAR BRAKES ARE SHOWING GROOVED ROTORS. ALSO THE BACK BRAKES ARE WEARING QUICKER THAT THE FRONTS . 7MMF . 5MMR. THE MILEAGE IS 32000. I HAVE A SECOND CAR EXACTLY THE SAME EXCEPT COLOR. IT HAS 16000 MILES AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS STARTING ON IT ALSO. I BELIEVE HONDA IS COVERING THIS UP. THEY WOULDN'T INVESTIGATE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE AN RO NUMBER. I BROUGHT IT BACK IN TO BE CHECKED AND THEY WOULDN'T PUT "CHECK REAR BRAKES" ON THE RO. THEY SAID THEY ALWAYS CHECK THE REAR BRAKES AND IF THERE IS NO NOISE THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I WAS A LICENSED INSPECTOR YEARS AGO. I WOULD NEVER HAVE PASSED A CAR WITH THESE ROTORS. SEE PICS. PERHAPS IT IS FROM THE PARKING BRAKE RECALL? THE ROTORS MUST HAVE LOST THEIR TEMPER FROM THE BRAKES BEING APPLIED BY THE PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT IN A WEEK. I HAD PARKED AT A LOCATION 30 MINUTES FROM HOME FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE BRAKE SEEMED LIKE IT WAS ALREADY PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR. A WARNING CAME ACROSS THE SCREEN THAT READ BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD SO I HAD IT JUMPED AND IT STARTED RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR THAT'S 2 YEARS OLD. I THINK I'LL BE GETTING RID OF THIS CAR.
WE WERE AT A COMPLETE STOP AT THE OUTER CITY STREET SIGNALING TO MAKE A LEFT AND A CAR HIT US FROM BEHIND WITHOUT BREAKING AT 60 -70 SPEED AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE IS SMASHED IN AND NOT ONE AIRBAG WENT OFF. THERE WERE TWO ADULTS (DRIVER & PASSENGER) AND TWO CHILDREN (BACKSEAT).
AIR CONDITIONING A/C HAS BEEN NOT WORKING FOR THE LAST MONTH OR TWO. IT STARTED OFF BLOWING WARM AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND COOL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER A FEW DAYS IT'S WARM ON BOTH SIDES NOW. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH OTHER CIVIC OWNERS I KNOW. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY HONDA. I'VE HAD HONDA VEHICLES FOR PLENTY OF YEARS. ACCORDS, CRV AND OTHER YEAR CIVICS. I'M READY TO GIVE IT UP, SO MUCH FOR RELIABILITY.
When a phone is placed in the designated spot on the center console under the radio, it will fly backward upon acceleration. It has caused my phone to fly backward and unstrap my seatbelt while pulling onto a busy highway. I am not the only person this has happened to. This is a design flaw. The area beneath the radio where you are supposed to place your phone is not secure enough to hold an average size phone and poses a serious risk as the center console is taller than the driver's seat. It has undone my seatbelt on more than one occasion. I would likely have been ejected from the car if someone would havce hit me while this this occurred. Please recall these vehicles to fix this design flaw. It is extremely dangerous.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO APPLY AS EXPECTED. THIS RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION THAT FORTUNATELY DIDN'T HAVE ANY FATALITIES. THE AIRBAGS ALSO DIDN'T DEPLOY DURING THE COLLISION. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, BUT INSTEAD OF A RESPONSE BACK AND PRESSURE COMING BACK FROM THE BRAKING SYSTEM, THE BRAKING PEDAL FELT LOOSE AND THE CAR INSTEAD OF COMING TO A STOP, CONTINUED TO SLOWLY DECELERATE. I'VE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND MY EXPECTATION WAS THAT THE CAR SHOULD HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP INSTEAD OF JUST SLOWING DOWN WITHIN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR IN FRONT. THERE WERE ALSO NO SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT. I SUSPECT THE BRAKES FAILED AND HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY IN TRYING TO GET THIS LOOKED INTO BY SOMEONE THAT CAN COME UP WITH A REPORT ON THE STATUS OF THE BRAKES. UNFORTUNATELY NOBODY CARED SO FAR, SO AS A LAST RESOURCE I'M REACHING OUT TO NHTSA FOR POSSIBLE GUIDANCE OR EVEN A BRAKING SYSTEM CAR INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, A "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE" WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION HONDA THORNTON ROAD (LOCATED AT 1979 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122, (770) 674-6078) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL PICKS UP SPEED WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS A BASE MODEL AND DOES NOT HAVE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, THEREFORE, ACCORDING TO THEM, IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE "DESIGN" HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY FLAW AS THE DRIVER MUST CONSTANTLY BE AWARE OF THE TERRAIN AND SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SEEMS TO NEGATE THE USE OF A CRUISE CONTROL. I EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FRIGHTENING SITUATIONS WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP FROM YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK TO SEATTLE THIS SUMMER. THE CAR WAS GAINING AS MUCH AS 20-30 MPH ON STEEP, MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN RESULTING IN DANGEROUS SPEEDS. I DISCONTINUED USE THINKING THAT THIS "FEATURE" WAS MALFUNCTIONING. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE DEALER'S RESPONSE THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED IS IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY OR THE TRUTH. I WAS LEFT WITH NO OTHER RECOURSE BUT TO FILE THIS REPORT.
MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND ON THE DASHBOARD UNDER THE MPH IT SAID ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM. AFTER PLAYING AROUND WITH THE PARKING BRAKE A BIT, THE CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED. UPON LOOKING UP MY VIN IT SHOWS I DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THE KC6 RECALL, BUT MY CAR SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED. PLEASE HELP.
ISSUE WITH THE 1.5 TURBO CALLED OIL DILUTION. CHINA HAD A RECALL ON THE TURBO DUE TO THE FUEL DILUTION PROBLEM (FUEL GETTING INTO OIL). BACK IN SEPTEMBER ON THE WAY TO OHIO FROM INDIANA CIVIC BROKE DOWN AND STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 70, DURING A RAIN STORM. NOT A SAFE SITUATION AT ALL. CIVIC WAS TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER IN DAYTON. WAS TOLD OIL WAS OVERFULL AND THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO DRAIN AND FILL WITH PROPER AMOUNT. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THEY HAD SEEN THAT BEFORE. IT IS COMING TOGETHER FOR ME NOW WHEN I SAW A CONSUMER REPORT YOUTUBE DISCUSSING THIS ENGINE ISSUE AND THIS YOUTUBE: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=J80BFJS-16U. 1.5 TURBO IS BUILDING UP FLUID IN THE CRANKCASE LIKE ON THE 1.5 TURBOS IN THE CIVIC. HAD THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN RIGHT AT TWO MONTHS LATER, HERE IN INDIANA, WITH LIKELY LESS THAN 2000 MORE MILES AND THERE IS AGAIN BUILDUP OF FLUID IN THE CRANKCASE. THE OIL WAS OVERFULL AS CONFIRMED BY THE TECHS AT THE LOCAL INDIANA HONDA DEALER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE .
MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC ROLLED OUT OF MY GARAGE WHILE IT WAS IN PARK. MY DAUGHTER HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME. SHE INITIALLY TURNED THE CAR OFF IN DRIVE. SHE REALIZED THAT IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND SHIFTED TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE WHILE STILL IN PARK. MY DAUGHTER ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE CAR, WAS KNOCKED DOWN AND RAN OVER BY THE RUNAWAY VEHICLE. SHE WAS INJURED BY THIS ACCIDENT. THE CAR HIT A TREE ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE. I FOUND A SPRING IN THE GARAGE FLOOR THAT I THOUGHT BELONG TO THE CAR. I CONTACTED AMERICA HONDA AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS INCIDENT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE 2016 TO 2018 HONDA CIVIC. I MADE HONDA AWARE THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. THE ROLLING BACK IN PARK ISSUE HAD HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE TO ME.
Unknown, rear ended another vehicle no damage occurred
BACKUP CAMERA WILL RANDOMLY GO BLACK DURING OPERATION IF SHIFTED INTO REVERSE DURING HEADUNIT BOOT (IMMEDIATELY AFTER VEHICLE COLD START) AND HEADUNIT RESUMES BOOT SHOWING HONDA LOGO AND DRIVER WARNING SCREEN INSTEAD OF BACKUP CAMERA. HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. HONDA DEALER WAS INITIALLY NOTIFIED ON 4/27/2018 BUT NO RESOLUTION HAS BEEN PROVIDED AS OF 11/30/2018. IMAGES UPLOADED DOCUMENT FIVE (5) OCCURRENCES BETWEEN 8/29/2018 AND 10/10/2018, BUT HAS HAPPENED PRIOR TO AND SINCE. NOTE IN IMAGES THAT SHIFT LEVER IS IN REVERSE BUT NO BACKUP CAMERA VIEW IS SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY.
STATIONARY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, WOULD NOT START, BATTERY CHECK OK, COULD NOT TAKE OUT OF PARK, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO SHOP AND HAVE TCM REPLACED AND SOFTWARE UPDATED- IN MOTION -STEERING WHEEL SLIPS AND SHAKES AS WELL - VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS THAT MY CAR DOESN'T START DUE TO AN ELECTRIC BRAKE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS AT HOME, AND PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO START THE CAR, IT IMMEDIATELY SHOWED THERE WAS AN ELECTRIC BRAKE PROBLEM ON THE DASHBOARD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT UNFORTUNATELY WHEN WE ARRIVED THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. THEY DISMISSED IT AND SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM. TODAY I STARTED THE CAR, DROVE TO A STORE AND WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THIS TIME EVERYTHING FLICKERED, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY STIFF MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO PRESS DOWN ON IT, AND THE SAME MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD "ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM." I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED ONCE AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN THEY WERE INSPECTING IT THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING ONCE AGAIN. NO ERROR MESSAGE AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO START IT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. NOW MY CONCERN IS OBVIOUSLY SAFETY SINCE THE ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWS IT IS A BRAKE PROBLEM. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE.
THE STEERING STICKS WHEN DRIVING. WHEN DRIVING, EVEN JUST ON A STRAIGHT PATH, YOU HAVE MAKE STEERING ADJUSTMENTS TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE. THE STEERING WILL STICK AND WHEN IT "BREAKS LOOSE,", THE CAR OVERCOMPENSATES AND JERKS. THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE AND ON THE ROAD. ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE REQUIRING HIGHER RATES OF SPEED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. HOWEVER, TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO "REPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. I MADE THEM AWARE OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE STEERING AND WAS TOLD HONDA WILL NOT ALLOW REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK WITHOUT REPLICATION OF THE ISSUE FIRST. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!
THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS STICKING OR NOTCHING CAN BE FELT WHEN THE CAR IS IDLING AND IN PARK. THIS PROBLEM IS CONTINUOUS.
AN ERROR MESSAGE KEEPS COMING UP ON MY CENTER CONSOLE, WARNING OF AN "ELECTRIC BRAKING PROBLEM." THE RED BRAKE LIGHT TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT ALSO FLASHES. THIS ALWAYS HAS HAPPENED WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON. WHILE THIS MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED, I AM UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. I HAVE ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE, AND THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE OR FOUR TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I PURCHASED IT IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AS A NEW VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP IN ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA. IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL ANNOUNCED THE MONTH AFTER, BUT I BELIEVE THAT RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION CIVIC LX BASE MODEL. WHILE I WAS SITTING IN DRIVER SEAT WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND THE AC ON. CAR SHIFT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND CAR WAS IDLING NORMALLY WITH ENGINE SOUNDING NORMAL. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN THAT MORNING AND IT WAS THE THIRD TIME I HAD TURNED THE ENGINE ON AND OFF FOR THE DAY.. CAR WAS IDLING NORMALLY FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES. THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY SLIPPED FROM NEUTRAL INTO FIRST GEAR WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE GEAR SHIFT NOR ENGAGING THE CLUTCH. SINCE I WAS SITTING BEHIND THE WHEEL WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND SITTING ON A LEVEL PARKING LOT AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED.....I INSTINCTIVELY PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE FORWARD MOTION STOPPED. CAR ACTED LIKE I HAD POPPED THE CLUTCH WHILE IT WAS IN FIRST GEAR. I ASSUMED IT HAD STALLED OUT SO I TURNED THE KEY TO RE-START THE CAR. BUT THE CAR ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AND IDLING NORMALLY. THIS INCIDENT ONLY OCCURRED ONCE ON THE DATE OF 8-10-18 WITH 24,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. .NO ONE EXCEPT ME WITNESSED WHAT HAPPENING. I HAVE NOT YET INQUIRED ABOUT IT WITH THE DEALER. CAR IS 2 YEARS, 2 MONTHS OLD AND I PURCHASED IT NEW FROM A HONDA DEALER IN SOUTH FLORIDA. INCIDENT OCCURRED IN SOUTH FLORIDA. NO DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE VEHICLE AND I'VE DRIVEN IT FOR 50 MILES SINCE AND STARTED AND STOPPED THE ENGINE 3XS SINCE WITH NOTHING UNUSUAL HAPPENING. I DID NOTICE THE SHIFT STICK WAS UNCHARACTERISTICALLY MORE DIFFICULT TO PUT INTO FIRST GEAR FOR 2 OR 3 TIMES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT. BUT THE EASE OF SHIFTING INTO FIRST GEAR HAS RETURNED TO NORMAL. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WHEN IT OCCURRED. UNKNOWN FAILURE IN TRANSMISSION AND I FIND IT REALLY ODD CONSIDERING THIS CAR HAS MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE IN MOTION ON A PUBLIC STREET/ HIGHWAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COMPRESS THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE FAILS TO ACCELERATE INCREASING SPEED!! ALSO, AT TIME VEHICLE WILL SAY EMERGENCY BREAK IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ALSO ALERTS. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THIS CAR IS GOING FULL SPEED AND LOOSES POWER. HAVING TO PULL ASIDE AND RESTART THE VEHICLE ONCE OR MULTIPLE TIMES TO BRING IT BACK TO SAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS.
I HAD AN ENGINE LIGHT ON ON 8/5/2918 CALL DEALER SHIP TO SET AN APPOINTMENT ON 8/6/2018. ADVICE FOUND FTC P2422 EVAP CVS STUCK CLOSED INDICATING FTP SENSOR AND CANISTER MALFUNCTION, CANISTER TO MALFUNCTIONING DUE TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL ARE WHERE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AND PARK. DUST AND DIRT WILL COLLECT AND CLOG THE SYSTEM. . THIS HAPPENS ON SEP/2017 . 1ST TIME WAS COVER BY MANUFACTURE NOT THIS TIME I GOT EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 6 YEARS THEY SAID NO, CAUSE WAS SAME PROBLEM WITHIN A YEAR AND WAS NOT A MANAFUCTURE DEFECT. I CALLED AMERICA HONDA THEY AGREE TO PAY ONE MORE TIME ONLY OUT OF WARRANTY. BUT THIS IS GOING BE AT NO ENDING PROBLEM FOR ME, I HAVE A CAP LESS ON GAS TANK WHICH IS NOT SEALING RIGHT AND MAIN PROBLEM CAUSING ALL DUST AND DIRT GETTING IN. THEY SAID THE DUST WASN'T GETTING THEY GAS TANK, BUT THEY'RE NOT ABLE TO TELL ME HOWDUST AND DIRT GETTING INTO THE CANISTER. I WANT THIS TO GET IVASTIGATED BECAUSE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, I NEVER GOT A DISCLAIMER SAYING IF I DRIVE CAR ON DUST OR DIRT WILL BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, YEAR AFTER YEAR, THE COST OF $700.00 PLUS $100.00 FOR DIAGNOSING, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. PLEASE HELP ME.
I GOT INTO THE TRUNK OF MY CIVIC (KEYLESS) AND WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE CAR, EVERYTHING HAD SHUT DOWN AND IT IS LOCKED AND WON'T RESPOND TO THE EMERGENCY KEY OR THE FOB. THIS BEGAN 2 DAYS AGO AND I SEE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS O THE INTERNET OF THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THEN RELEASED, IT SOMETIMES TAKE UP TO TWO OR THREE SECONDS TO BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE AFTERWARD, EVEN THOUGH I AM STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS IS UNNERVING WHEN ENTERING AN INTERSECTION (YIELDING) AND YOU FEEL YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO PROCEED, UNTIL THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE. HONDA STATES IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE IN THE EVENT SOMETHING WERE TO ACCIDENTALLY DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR WHILE BRAKING. I FEEL OTHERWISE.
CAR IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIR CONDITIONER SUDDENLY ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR. HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO A CAR BUT APPARENTLY FAULTY COMPRESSORS ARE AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE (SO MUCH SO THAT THERE IS A LONG WAIT JUST TO GET THE PART TO FIX IT) WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT HONDA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO - CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD MANUFACTURING FLAW THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. HONDA OWNERS ARE BEING CHEATED.
CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW. STEERING HAS STARTED STICKING. WHEN I AM DRIVING ON INTERSTATE IT FEELS LIKE THERE'S A CATCH IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN YOU TRY TO MAINTAIN LANE AND HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THROUGH THE "CATCH" FEEL WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK. IT HASN'T GOTTEN TO WHERE IT IS CONTINUOUSLY HAPPENING. ON MORE CURVING ROADS THE STEERING SEEMS TO CATCH, AND STICK, WHICH CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO DO THE SAME THING AND GET THE WHEEL THROUGH THE "CATCH" IN ORDER TO STAY ON THE ROAD WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK EVERY TIME. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE OF THE SMOOTH STEERING AND FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING AT THE EXTENT IT IS NOW WHICH IS CAUSING A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IS VERY DISTURBING. AFTER REVIEWING OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE I AM NOT SURE WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS.
THE AC COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE BOTH LEAKING. ONE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO TELL ME THEY WERE LEAKING BECAUSE A ROCK HIT IT AND CAUSED THE DAMAGE, AND IT COSTS $600 TO FIX. BUT UPON PROPER DIAGNOSIS FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, THEY DID TELL ME BOTH THE COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE LEAKING, AND IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE. THESE PRODUCTS HAVE KNOWN ISSUES THAT PEOPLE HAVE LISTED ONLINE. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO FILE A CLAIM THROUGH GOOD WILL. THEY SAID THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY 50/50, WHICH LEAVES ME TO PAY $842 BEFORE TAXES TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A BETTER SOLUTION. THIS IS UNSAFE THAT ALL OF THESE CARS HAVING LEAKING CONDENSERS AND COMPRESSORS AND IT IS A SCAM TO HAVE THE CUSTOMER PAY ANYTHING TO FIX AN ISSUE LIKE THIS. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE BECAUSE WHEN IT IS HOT WEATHER OR RAINING AND THEN IT GETS COLD THE WINDSHIELD FOGS UP AND DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO SEE WITHOUT HAVING THE AIR ON. THE AC HELPS TO ELIMINATE ANY VISIBILITY ISSUES WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES. CURRENTLY MY WINDSHIELD KEEPS FOGGING UP DUE TO NOT HAVING THE AC, ESPECIALLY WHEN ANOTHER CAR IS COMING TOWARDS ME WITH THEIR HEADLIGHTS, MY WINDSHIELD BLINDS ME. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE HELP ME BY LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE AND POSSIBLE POSTING A SAFETY RECALL ON THESE PRODUCTS, I WOULD TRULY APPRECIATE IT. I ALREADY SPOKE TO CORPORATE HONDA AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE AND THEY SAY THAT THEY DON'T PUT OUT THEIR OWN RECALLS. BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT IS NOT OKAY, AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO HAVE A FAULTY SYSTEM FIXED, WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THIS WAY. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE AFTER THE CAR WAS ALREADY OUT OF WARRANTY, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON ONE SPECIFIC DAY, IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.
As others have stated, steering becomes very sticky at highway speeds, especially on sweeping curves. When trying to straighten car back out, the steering sticks and requires extra pressure to get the steering wheel to turn. Once it comes free it causes the car to veer in the other direction. It is at times very difficult to put minor corrections into the steering to maintain the car in my lane. Honda dealer says it is the “torque sensor magnet” sticking and would require a steering rack replacement in the neighborhood of $4000. I have been back and forth with Honda corporate and they have denied any extended warranty or customer good will on this issue.
MAY 2016, I PURCHASED THE RE-DESIGNED 2016 HONDA CIVIC COUPE LX. ON JULY 13, 2018, MY AC WAS NO LONGER BLOWING COLD AIR. IT WAS LUKE WARM IF THAT. THE DEALER PUT DYE IN MY AC TO DETERMINE ANY LEAKS. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS BUT RATHER - MY 2 YEAR OLD CIVIC - HAD A LOW CHARGE IN THE SYSTEM AND I WAS CHARGED $312 FOR THEM TO RECHARGE MY AC. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I PAID THE $312. THEY CHECKED MY CAR AGAIN ON JULY 27, 2018 AND ASSURED ME THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS IN MY AC. WELL, 1 YEAR LATER MY CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE - AC IS NOT BLOWING COLD. I TOOK MY CAR IN ON JUNE 14, 2019. ON JUNE 18 2019 I RECEIVED A CALL SAYING THAT MY AC WAS LEAKING IN 2 PARTS - THE EVAPORATOR (WHICH THEY TOLD ME WAS A DEFECTIVE PART AND WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER MY WARRANTY) AND THE CONDENSER HAD A HOLE IN IN. THE CONDENSER IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY BECAUSE OF OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. SO NOW A $700 BILL I MUST PAY. AS I HAVE COME TO FIND ONLINE - THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF 2016 CIVIC OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR AC. THE LOCATION OF THE CONDENSER APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AND I NOW THE RUN THE RISK OF ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM EVERY YEAR BECAUSE SOMETHING CAN HIT THE CONDENSER AS I DRIVE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF SOMETHING WILL KICK UP AND HIT THE CONDENSER. ON JUNE 26, 2019 AS THEY WERE PERFORMING THE REPAIR, I WAS TOLD MY ENTIRE AC UNIT IS CONTAMINATED??? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WITH A CLOSED SYSTEM THAT I HAVE NOT TOUCHED. LAST YEAR THERE WERE NO ISSUES/NO LEAKS - PER THE DEALER. AND, NOW, I NEED A WHOLE NEW AC AND MY CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR ARE LEAKING!! OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS AN ISSUE HERE. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE DEALER TO MAKE SURE THIS NEW UNIT IS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALL OF THIS ON A 3 YEAR OLD NEW CAR!
IN 2018, I PURCHASED A USED 2016 HONDA CIVIC AND SEVERAL MONTHS LATER WHEN THE HOT WEATHER SET IN, WE DISCOVERED THE AC IS NOT WORKING. TOOK INTO HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THE AC COMPRESSOR WAS LEAKING AND IT WOULD COST $2000. I HAD IT FIXED WHEN I WAS ABLE TO SAVE ENOUGH MONEY. NOW A YEAR AFTER I FIXED IT, MY AC COMPRESSOR AND MY AC CONDENSOR ARE BOTH LEAKING. I PURCHASED A HONDA FOR RELIABILITY BUT ITS BEEN A HORRIBLE AND EXPENSIVE EXPERIENCE. HONDA WILL ONLY REPLACE THE CONDENSOR DUE TO RECALL BUT I CAN'T FIX IT WITHOUT FIXING THE COMPRESSOR AS WELL. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
2016 Civic air conditioner continues to blow hot air. Problem started in spring of 2018. Honda claimed they fixed in in summer of 2020 but it hasn’t worked at all in 2021. Seems to repeat pattern every spring.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT IMPACT COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED MINOR PAIN, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
THIS IS MY SECOND TIME. PARKED CAR IN GARAGE ,AFTER FEW HOURS TRIED TO TURN ON.WHEN WE TRY TO START IT WONTS, BUT THE SIGN POPS UP SAYING ELECTRICAL PARKING BRAKE ERROR..CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE.LUCKY CAR WAS IN GARAGE WHEN BOTH INCIDENT HAPPENED.TOOK IT TO DEALER TWICE .TODAY WE PICKED IT UP FOUND DFTC U3OOO-49,ECU INTERNAL CIRCUIT FAILURE.THEY PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATE.THEY SAID IT IS OK THIS TIME.CAN HAPPEN AGAIN.HOW CAN THIS PROBLEM BE DEALT? MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND SHE IS MOVING TO COLLEGE IN AUGUST AND WILL NEED A CAR.HOPE THIS PROBLEM IS DEALT QUICKLY.IF NOT WILL NEED TO REPLACE ANOTHER CAR.I FEEL THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR HER TO USE.
I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD START BEING STICKY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. . THE POWER STEERING WORKED FINE BUT FOR SUBTLE MOVEMENTS, IT WOULD CAUSE RESISTANCE. THIS WAS MOST FREQUENT WHEN DRIVING OVER AN HOUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOTICE THAT THE WHEEL TENDS TO STICK AFTER IT'S BEEN STRAIGHT FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND I NEED TO APPLY MORE FORCE TO MAKE A SMALL ADJUSTMENT ON THE HIGHWAY. I DO NOT HAVE THE LKAS. IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING.
MY CAR WAS PARKED AND I TRIED TO TURN MY CAR ON AND I STEPPED ON MY FOOT BRAKE IT FELT REAL STIFF THAN I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE START BUTTON BUT MY CAR FAILED TO START. (BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM PROBLEM, POWER STEARING SYSTEM (EPS) PROBLEM VEHICLE STABILITY ASSISST (VSA) PEONLEM, HILL START ASSISST PROBLEM, ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM, EMISSIONS PROBLEM.
Steering is sticking when driven for while, making it very unsafe for myself and others and sometimes it sticks and the wheel has to be jerked back which could cause over correction.
ENGINE OIL LEVEL ABOVE MAXIMUM LEVEL, AND THE ENGINE OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE.
After approximately 20k miles, the steering began to "stick". When the issue occurs, it takes more force than usual to turn the wheel slightly, causing me to have to over-correct to center the car. The issue usual occurs during highway driving and after the outside temperature rises. For example, the problem appears to go away during the winter, but re-appear during spring and summer. I have brought the vehicle in for inspection to the original dealer who failed to reproduce the issue.
My 2016 Honda Civic Touring is equipped with automatic emergency braking. In more than one instance, my Civic has applied the brakes unnecessarily when there was no apparent danger. Traveling on the highway at 65 mph, I have been 'cut-off' by a driver and the brakes were applied hard. There was no way to override the braking and the car commanded itself to a complete stop. The drivers immediately behind me had to brake hard and if they hadn't maintained control there would have been a pile-up. This took place in Cobb County, GA during rush hour on 75S in the 'Northwest Corridor' area. This is a high traffic density area.
After driving for over :30 minutes steering wheel sticks and is jerky to turn. It has a dead spot that requires a higher breakout force to get the wheel to turn , once wheel is turning there are normal steering forces required to continue the turn.

THE GLASS ON THE 2016 HONDA CIVIC SEEMS TO BE QUITE WEAK. THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD RESULTS IN A TOTAL LOSS AND REPLACEMENT.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PROBLEM. AFTER REPLACING (2) FLAT TIRES OVER A 3 MONTH PERIOD WITH THE SAME BRAND, MODEL, SIZE AND STYLE OF TIRE AS THE OEM, I NOW GET A TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WARNING CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED, EVEN AFTER CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES AND RECALIBRATING THE TPMS. ACCORDING TO HONDA DEALERSHIP THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA TPMS SYSTEMS SINCE THE SYSTEM USES WHEEL SPEED NOT SENSORS TO DETECT DIFFERENCES IN TIRE PRESSURES. AS A RESULT THERE IS NO KNOWN SOLUTION OTHER THAN TO REPLACE MULTIPLE TIRES AT ONCE. WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE / CONVENIENCE IS NOW A NUISANCE
