TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, SHE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND A NECK INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE TO 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND AS THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE MORNING OF 4/16/2013 I SMELLED A STRANGE ODOR LIKE AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT WAS GETTING HOT OR MELTING. I SAW NO SMOKE OR FIRE & OTHER THAN THE SMELL, COULD NOT DETECT ANYTHING DELETERIOUS TO THE OPERATION/HANDLING OF MY VEHICLE. WHEN I LEFT WORK THAT DAY, I LOWERED THE WINDOWS USING THE WINDOW MASTER SWITCH CLUSTER ON THE LEFT FRONT DOOR ARMREST TO GET FRESH AIR WHILE DRIVING. ALL THE WINDOWS LOWERED BUT THE RIGHT REAR WOULD NOT. A CO-WORKER RECALLED READING ABOUT A RECALL FROM AMERICAN HONDA REGARDING A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S MASTER WINDOW SWITCH CLUSTER. WHEN I CALLED HONDA & GAVE THEM THE VIN NUMBER FOR MY VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAD MY MECHANIC TROUBLESHOOT THE ISSUE & HE DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH CLUSTER. HE REPLACED THE SWITCH CLUSTER & DISASSEMBLED THE OLD ONE. THE OLD SWITCH CLUSTER PLAINLY SHOWS EVIDENCE OF & SMELLS LIKE THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT OVERHEATED AS DESCRIBED BY INFORMATION PROVIDED BY AMERICAN HONDA. I BELIEVE HONDA IS NOT ADEQUATELY TAKING CARE OF THIS ISSUE WHICH COULD LEAD TO FIRES OR OTHER SERIOUS SAFETY/PROPERTY ISSUES. *TR
2003 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH RECALL NOTICE AND UNSATISFACTORY SERVICE FROM DEALERSHIP. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE DEALERS RESPONSE CONCERNING HIS COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PROBLEM HE EXPERIENCED WITH RECALL # 12V486000. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, HE WAS ASKED SEVERAL UNNECESSARY QUESTIONS, REGARDING HIS PATRONAGE OF THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE CONSUMER CONFIRMED, HE DID PURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM THEM, HE WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, TRAVELING UP A SLIGHT HILL AT 65 MPH. I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO INCREASE POWER, AND THE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED FROM 3K TO ABOUT 5.5K. THE CRV ACCELERATED RAPIDLY, APPROACHING 80 MPH, AND I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL. THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE, AND THE CRV CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO 85 MPH. AT THIS POINT, I MADE SURE THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS TURNED OFF. I QUICKLY REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG, SO I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES, GENTLY AT FIRST, BUT THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND ACCELERATING THE CRV, SO I HAD TO SMASH ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CRV DOWN TO ABOUT 45 MPH AND EXIT THE INTERSTATE AT A REST AREA. ONCE ON THE OFF-RAMP, I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE UNDER A LOT OF STRESS. THE ENGINE RPMS SHOT EVEN HIGHER, SO I CUT THE IGNITION AND COASTED INTO THE REST AREA. WE HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. A MECHANIC CONFIRMED (AS I SUSPECTED) THAT THE BUTTERFLY VALVE IN THE ENGINE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. A FEW DAYS LATER, A HONDA PARTS INSPECTOR REVIEWED THE CRV AND DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, AND THAT WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY. A SERIES OF CALLS WITH CORPORATE HONDA ENSUED, WHEREIN THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING ON MY PART, HONDA AGREED TO PAY FOR A NEW THROTTLE AS LONG AS I WOULD SIGN A WAIVER ABSOLVING THEM OF ALL FUTURE LEGAL LIABILITY. I REFUSED TO DO SO. ULTIMATELY, I WORKED WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO TRADE-IN THE CRV FOR A NEWER MODEL. I DO NOT KNOW THE FATE OF THE 2003 CRV. THE INCIDENT ON THE ROAD WAS HORRIFYING, AND THEN TO BE TREATED POORLY BY CORPORATE HONDA WAS INFURIATING. THE NATIONAL SAFETY DATABASE SHOWS THAT THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM. *TR
THE SRS LIGHT (AIRBAG SENSOR) CONTINUED TO STAY LIT ON MY DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO MY HONDA DEALER (WEST HILLS HONDA IN BREMERTON, WA) WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THEY "FOUND" A "CODE 7-2 IN THE SYSTEM", INDICATING THERE WAS AN "SRS CONTROL UNIT FAILURE". ESSENTIALLY, THE ELECTRICAL UNIT THAT WOULD DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS HAD FAILED, WHICH MEANT I NO LONGER HAD THE POTENTIAL USE OF MY VEHICLES AIRBAGS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE COST FOR A NEW PART WAS $659.95, LABOR AN ADDITIONAL $100.00, WHICH MEANT A BILL CLOSE TO $800.00 WITH TAX. FAR BEYOND MY RETIREMENT INCOME TO HANDLE. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE, SIMILAR TO A SEAT BELT PROBLEM (WHICH HONDA WOULD TAKE CARE OF FOR FREE). THIS SRS CONTROL UNIT RARELY FAILS, THEY TOLD ME. IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT DUE TO MY NEGLIGENCE OR LACK OF ATTENTION TO PROPER MAINTENANCE. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT SINCE THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE, AND WAS NOT CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE BY THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY HONDA. OTHERWISE, MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE AT RISK DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I COULD CERTAINLY USE YOUR HELP IN CONVINCING HONDA TO REPLACE THIS FAULTY UNIT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THEY ALL WENT OUT SUDDENLY AND I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD. THE HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND WENT OUT AGAIN 3 TIMES IN A 5 MILE DRIVE HOME. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V349000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK DOES NOT WORK AND CAUSES THE LOCKS NOT TO WORK. I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR WITH A KEY OR AUTOMATIC KEY. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WHICH WAS REPAIRED BY WAY OF A TEMPORARY REPAIRS BY MY MECHANIC IN 2013. I WAS AT LEAST ABLE TO GET INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WITH MY AUTOMATIC KEY BUT COULD NOT OPEN IT WITH THE KEY. NOW THE DRIVER;S SIDE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I CAN ONLY CLIMB IN THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE USING THE KEY ONLY. BACK IN 2013 BEFORE THE TEMP REPAIRS WERE MADE I CONTACTED HONDA TO SEE IF THEY HAD A RECALL AND BASED ON MY VIN # THERE WAS NO RECALL THE THE LOCKS.
2003 HONDA CR-V CONSUMER SAYS SRS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON PROMPTING MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALER. *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS COULD NOT BE OPENED OR CLOSED. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW COULD BE OPENED HOWEVER, THE WINDOW EITHER COULD NOT BE CLOSED ONCE IT WAS OPENED OR WOULD CLOSE EXTREMELY SLOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V486000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS). AFTER THE REPAIR HAD BEGUN, THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE IN THE WINDOWS WAS CAUSED BY THE TRACKS, WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK FAILED, CAUSING THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE KEYLESS REMOTE FAILED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS STOP TO WORK SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE THE HIGH BEAM AND PARKING LIGHTS ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL. *TR
ON MY 2003 HONDA AT AROUND 66,000 MILES THE AIR CONDITIONING QUIT WORKING. ALTHOUGH I HARDLY USE A/C SINCE I ONLY HAVE A SHORT DRIVE TO WORK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A HONDA DEALER. IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE A/C BLEW UP AND WAS CONTAMINATED THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. I HAD TO REPLACE EVERYTHING INCLUDING LINES. ALTHOUGH THEY CLAIM THIS HAPPENS, IM CONCERNED SINCE THE A/C WAS RARELY USED. CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE A/C. IVE OWNED OTHER VEHICLES WITH ONLY HAVING TO DO REGULAR MAINTENACE ON THE A/C WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS REPAIR COSTED 2,611.70. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRENTY WHICH DID NOT HELP MUCH EITHER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD OR READ OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C IN HONDAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR AUTOMATIC POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,112.

THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN STRUCK ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. MY WIFE RECEIVED BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO HER CHEST FROM THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYMENT. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEATBELT THE AIR BAG RECALL WAS PERFORMED ABOUT ONE MONTH BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. THE HEADLIGHT RECALL WAS PERFORMED ONE WEEK BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE ACCIDENT AFTER THE CRASH. *TR
WE WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN CAR ACCIDENT WHICH PERHAPS LEAD TO THE PRESENT PROBLEMS. I'M NOT AN EXPERT ON CARS. HOWEVER I DO FEEL A SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD WITH CHILDREN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SENT 4 TIMES; FIX MOSTLY A LOOSE NOISE WITH STEERING ISSUES (THERE CONNECTED?). THESE ISSUES OCCUR CONSTANT DURING TURNS AND ON THE ROAD. ONCE THE MECHANIC WORKS ON THE VEHICLE THE PROBLEMS ALWAYS RETURN. ARE THERE ANY DEFECTS OR SAFETY ISSUES REGARDING LOOSE NOISE, OR STEERING PROBLEMS? AND PRIOR TO ANY ACCIDENT? SECOND, THE DEALER DID SEND THE VEHICLE TO HONDA TO CHECK THE AIR BAG BUT THAT SEAMS TO BE A CONCERN AS WELL. ANY IDEAS FOR ME? THIRD, NOT ONLY DO I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN BUT THE DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY DOCUMENTATION OF FIXING ANY PARTS. SO WE REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE IN REGARDS TO; WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED OR A DEFECT PRIOR TO A ACCIDENT?
ALL POWER LOCKS ARE FAILING. ONLY DRIVERS SIDE POWER LOCK NOW WORKS, BUT THAT IS BEGINNING TO FAIL ALSO. REAR GATE CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED WITH A KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE EMITTED A LOUD NOISE AND HE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER AND SAW THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO WEAR AND TEAR. IN ORDER TO REPAIR VEHICLE, THE DRIVE SHAFT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 250,000.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERATIVE. BURNING/MELTING AND OXIDATION AT TURN/HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND CABLE HARNESS CONNECTOR. *TR
2003 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL CONCERNING LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON HONDA VEHICLE. RECALL# 12V136000. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WANTED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE HANDLING AND PROCESSING OF THE REIMBURSEMENT PROCESS OF THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SUBMITTED ALL OF THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK FOR REIMBURSEMENT, ONLY TO BE DENIED. HONDA NOTED, THAT THE CONSUMER PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD, BUT HE DID NOT SHOW THE NAME ON THE CARD USED TO MAKE THE PAYMENT. HONDA STATED THEY NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PERSON BEING REIMBURSED ACTUALLY MADE THE PAYMENT. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER SEVEN ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V364000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION) THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
2003 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THROTTLE BODY ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. *JB
SUDDEN ACCELERATION DUE TO GAS PEDAL GETTING "STUCK". ONCE A RED LIGHT TURNED GREEN VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO MOTION FROM COMPLETELY STOPPED POSITION. AFTER A FEW YARDS DRIVER HAD TO BRAKE NOT TO HIT THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF IT, WHICH WAS GOING SLOWER THAN VEHICLE IN QUESTION. INSTEAD OF REDUCING SPEED, DRIVER FACED A SUDDEN ACCELERATION THAT MADE THE VEHICLE CRASH INTO THE TRUCK. EVEN WITH THE IMPACT, THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED AND VEHICLE CRASHED AGAIN INTO THE SAME TRUCK. DRIVER REALIZED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REDUCING ITS SPEED BY APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THEREFORE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO PARKING AND TURNED OFF. IN AN ATTEMPT TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AGAIN THE VEHICLE MADE A VERY LOUD ACCELERATED NOISE BUT DRIVER COULD NOT TAKE VEHICLE FROM PARKING POSITION AND NOTICED BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS WERE STIFF. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. HONDA WAS CONTACTED AND REQUESTED TO GO SEE THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT IS TAKEN APART (IN ORDER TO FIND EVIDENCE), BUT ITS REPRESENTATIVE SAID THE ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE TO TRY TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM ONCE THE VEHICLE IS REPAIRED AND SAFE TO BE DRIVEN AGAIN. BASICALLY, HONDA DOESN'T SHOW INTEREST IN INVESTIGATING FURTHER AND WILL WASH ITS HANDS IF PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPRODUCED, WHICH WILL LIKELY BE THE CASE, OR ELSE THE VEHICLE WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO LEAVE THE REPAIR CENTER WHERE IT CURRENTLY IS AND TAKEN FOR SUCH "TEST DRIVE". SADLY, HONDA JUST LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER. *TR
THREE DOOR ACTUATORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING DS REAR, PS FRONT, AND READ DOOR. IN ADDITION, THE REMAINING DOORS THAT WILL LOCK WITH KEYLESS ENTRY WILL LOCK INTERMITTENTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED FOR FAILURES PERTAINING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V260000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE) THE SRS WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILST DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OUT OF NOWHERE THE HOOD FLIPPED UP OVER THE WINDSHIELD AND BLOCKED ALL VIEW. I ALMOST GOT INTO A HUGE ACCIDENT AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN THE LEFT LANE. THE HOOD IS UNFIXABLE, THE ROOF IS DAMAGED WHERE THE HOOD IMPACTED AND THE ELECTRIC ON THE INSIDE SECTION OF THE ROOF NO LONGER WORK. THE HOOD HAD NOT BEEN OPENED FOR A WHILE AND WAS CLOSED CORRECTLY. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER DRIVERS OF THE SAME MODEL. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JANUARY 30, 2012, AND CONSEQUENTLY, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED A WIRE HAD OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE HARNESS INSIDE THE STEERING WHEEL.
THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE COMPRESSOR. THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR, FLUSH THE SYSTEM, REPALCE THE DRYER AND THEN CHARGE THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 62500 MILES ON IT AND THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST ALOT LONGER THAN THAT. IT WILL COST $756.24 TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM AND THAT IS IF THESE ARE THE ONLY PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AM ASKING FOR THE REIMBURSMENT TO REAPAIR THE AIR CONDITIONER. *TT

ON WED. SEPT. 7, 2011, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE GAS PEDAL ON MY 2003 HONDA CRV GOT STUCK. I TRIED TO BRAKE AT THE STOPLIGHT, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT BRAKE. I HAD TO GO INTO SURVIVAL MODE, TRIED SHIFTING THE GEARS, AND SOMEHOW GOT THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. IT SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH. I WAS ALSO STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SO I HAD THE FEAR THAT SOMEONE MIGHT HIT MY VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AAA AND HAD THEM SEND A POLICE OFFICER FOR SAFETY REASONS. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BESIDES BEING A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS REPAIR COST ME APROX. $1,196.53. I HAVE TO SAY THAT EVEN THOUGH IT''S BEEN REPLACED, I AM VERY LEERY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR ORIGINALLY, SAY THAT THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION SHOULD NOT OCCUR. ABOUT TWO YEARS OR SO AGO, THE DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT ON THIS CAR AS WELL. IT HAD TO BE REPAIRED AND HONDA PAID FOR HALF OF THAT REPAIR, AFTER I CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. THIS WAS ALSO A PART THAT SHOULDN''T HAVE HAD TO BE REPAIRED. I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATION AND I WAS TOLD THAT, "HONDA WOULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS PROBLEM."
WHILE USING THE DRIVER SIDE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH I SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. EARLIER ON THE SAME DAY THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW FAILED TO MOVE WHEN I USED THE MASTER SWITCH TO CONTROL IT. THE BURNING SMELL CONTINUED TO WORSEN EVERY TIME I USED THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH. MY MECHANIC TRACKED THE PROBLEM TO THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH AND REMOVED IT. THE MASTER SWITCH HAD MELTED AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAD I CONTINUED TO USE IT. HONDA HAS SINCE ISSUED RECALLS ON THE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH FOR 2002-2006 HONDA CRVS, HOWEVER MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED; HONDA STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN-SPECIFIC AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECALL ANNOUNCED ON OCT. 6, 2012 STATED "OVER TIME, EXPOSURE TO WATER AND OTHER FLUIDS CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE IN THE SWITCH, WHICH ULTIMATELY CAN CAUSE THE SWITCH TO OVERHEAT AND MELT, DAMAGING THE SWITCH AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING AN ASSOCIATED WIRE HARNESS. ADDITIONALLY IF A SWITCH MELTS, IT COULD PRODUCE SMOKE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE, CREATING A RISK TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY." THIS DESCRIBES EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN MY 2003 CRV, YET HONDA HAS REFUSED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE STATING THAT IT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. ON JUNE 28, 2013 HONDA ANNOUNCED AN IDENTICAL RECALL---THIS TIME FOR THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH IN THE 2007-08 HONDA FIT. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE REASON FOR THIS RECALL IS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE ISSUED FOR THE 2002-2006 CRVS, AND IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED IN MY 2003 CRV. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THESE DANGEROUS, RECURRING INCIDENTS IN HONDA VEHICLES AND EXPAND THE RECALL OF THE CRVS. MY REPAIR COST TOTALED $476 AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED THAT AMOUNT BY HONDA. MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOWEVER, IS THIS RECURRING SAFETY HAZARD TO HONDA DRIVERS. I HAVE THE MASTER SWITCH THAT WAS REMOVED FROM MY VEHICLE AND AM WILLING TO PROVIDE IT FOR INSPECTION. *TR
ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON AUGUST 28TH, MY 2003 HONDA CRV HAD AN ENGINE FIRE. THE ONLY WARNING, WAS A RUBBING SOUND WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED BUT NO DASH LAMPS PRIOR TO SEEING THE SMOKE AND SUBSEQUENT FIRE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET MY FAMILY OUT OF THE CRV AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. UPON REPAIRING THE CAR AT THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER, THEY IDENTIFIED THE AC COMPRESSOR AS THE LIKELY ROOT CAUSE OF THE FIRE BASED ON MELTED CLUTCH DRIVE WIRES WHICH APPEAR TO BE THE IGNITION SOURCE FOR THE OVERHEATED DRIVE BELT. SINCE THE 2 YR OLD AC COMPRESSOR WAS A FOUR SEASONS - EVERCO 58881 REPLACEMENT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM AUTO ZONE, HONDA WAS NOT INTERESTED IN ANY FURTHER INVESTIGATION BUT THEY DID ALLOW ME TO KEEP THE DAMAGED AC COMPRESSOR AND DRIVE BELT. I SPOKE WITH EVERCO CUSTOMER SERVICE HOWEVER THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT DEAL WITH THE PUBLIC DIRECTLY SO I DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE AUTO ZONE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER WHO MADE AN INTERNAL INQUIRY AND THEN SAID THEY COULD NOT INITIATE A CLAIM BECAUSE THE COMPONENT IS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT NEITHER HONDA, AUTOZONE NOR EVERCO ARE INTERESTED IN A ROOT CAUSE INVESTIGATION OR PROVIDING ANY COMPENSATION. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THIS INCIDENT BUT OTHER CRV OWNERS MAY BE LESS FORTUNATE. I HAVE THE DAMAGED HARDWARE AND PHOTOS WHICH CAN SUPPORT AN INVESTIGATION. *TR

PRIOR TO THIS, I HAD OCCASIONALLY NOTICED A BURNING SMELL WHILE DRIVING AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SMELL.
