I was driving in town so, each block has either a stop sign or a traffic light. I realized that my brake pad seemed to get spongy. At the red light as I was nervous that there was something wrong I looked down and seen a light blinking but, it was my oil light. After heading to the next block my brakes were suddenly not doing anything and the pedal went down to the floor. I was not going fast so I decided that if I had to I would pull the emergency brake. I did that as well to no avail. I went to the closest parking lot and checked all my fluid. My oil was fine, my brake fluid was low. I added brake fluid and went on my way. The following day I left my home as usual and another light came on. The oxygen sensor. I'm not sure why the vehicle is doing this as I do keep up with maintenance. I have spoken with a mechanic , his assessment was it could be anything yet seems to be electrical. I did some research do to the fact that my car has been with me since 2009 (used). I would love to keep my car for as many more years as possible but, I also have to be safe. At this point it has to be something wrong with the products I'm using on my vehicle.
THIS VEHICLE ON HAS 66,580 MILE AND THE ABS MODULATOR WENT BAS ON REAR PASSENGER SIDE. NOTICE BRAKE WAS NOT WORKING AND TOOK TO SHOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE AT 5 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT CRASHED INTO THE WOODS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
LEFT FIRESTONE AUTO TO GET AN IL CHANGE ON UNIVERISTY BLVD AFTER OIL CHANGE, PROCEEDED ONTO UNIVERSITY BLVD, MADE A LEFT ONTO BROADHEAD ROAD(?), MADE A RIGHT INTO DOLLAR BANK PARKING LOT. PULLED UP TO ATM AND ATM WAS OUT OF SERVICE. DROVE AROUND THE BUILDING TO GO INTO THE BANK TO GET MONEY OUT INSTEAD. TURNED INTO PARKING SPOT FOUR, PUMPED GAS THEN BRAKE....CAR ACCELERATED AND I PUMPED ON BRAKES AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I HIT A POLE IN FRONT OF THE BANK, THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CAR WAS SMOKING AND SMELLED OF BURNING OIL AND SMOKE. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND APPEARED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. *TR
ABS PROBLEM - SACRED TO DRIVE WHEN IT SNOWS I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CRV AND HONDA ACCORD. THE PROBLEM IS MORE PROMINENT ON THE CRV. WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE ROAD, ABS KICKS IN AND THE CAR DOES NOT STOP WHEN BRAKING, EVEN WHEN THE SPEED IS ONLY 10MPH. THIS HAPPENS MORE IF COMING DOWN A GRADIENT. THE GRADIENT CAN BE VERY LITTLE. THIS REALLY SCARES ME AS I CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO PREVENT IT. I NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH MY 16 YEAR OLD HONDA CIVIC, WHICH DIDN'T HAVE AN ABS SYSTEM.. I DO AGREE, THAT THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS ABOUT THIS. BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND, WHY THE ABS HAS TO COME ONLINE EVEN AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. ABS IN EFFECT ONLY INCREASES ACCIDENTS. WE WERE VERY LUCKY SO FAR, THAT WE NEVER HAD A CRASH, BUT WERE VERY CLOSE TO MAKE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE BRAKE ROTOR ON MY HONDA CRV 2005 IS DEFECTIVE. IT LOOKS LIKE STEEL IS NOT CARBONATED EVENLY AND THERE A SOME PIECES THAT DO NOT WEAR OFF. THOSE PEACES ARE BEATING ON THE BREAK PADS AND ARE THE REASON FOR A SAFETY CONCERN. I TOOK CAR TO HONDA, BUT WAS GIVEN SOME ABSURD DIAGNOSES, I.E. REAR DISKS HAVE RUST MARKS ON THEM, DUE TO LOW MILEAGE. FYI: MY CAR HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT. I SPOKE WITH THE MANAGEMENT, BUT THEY REFUSED TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT IT. I PURCHASED NEW A HONDA CRV IN JUNE, 2005. ON AUGUST 15, 2007 WITH 24,064 MILES THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $275.54 WHICH BEING UNDER WARRANTY HONDA PAID FOR. ON FEBRUARY 16, 2009 WITH 39,477 MILES AGAIN THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $342.12 WHICH THE DEALERSHIP PAID FOR AS THEY KNEW I WAS VERY UPSET. I HAVE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS EACH TIME AND ALL THEY DO IS NOTE IT ON MY RECORD. I FEEL THAT THERE HAS TO BE A PROBLEM SOMEWHERE THAT THEY AREN'T ACKNOWLEDGING OR DON'T CARE TO. GRANTED I HAVE HAD NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES BUT DON'T FEEL THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING. I FEEL HONDA'S ENGINEERS NEED TO LOOK AT THIS AND IF NECESSARY CHANGE THE WHOLE SYSTEM SO I'M NOT CHANGING REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS EVERY 15,000 TO 20,000 MILES. I KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
VSA DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE. VSA LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL. SOMETIMES THE VSA LIGHT IS PRECEDED BY A LOUD BANGING NOISE WHEN BRAKING AND TURNING. CAR JERKS AND SCREECHES. VSA LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN RESTARTING CAR. DEALERSHIP WILL ONLY DIAGNOSE AND WORK ON UNDER WARRANTY IF VSA LIGHT IS ON. AFTER PERSISTENT VISITS TO DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND ORDER A PART EVEN THOUGH VSA LIGHT WAS OFF. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MY ABS AND VSA LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND YOU WOULD HEAR THE BRAKE MAKING RATTLING NOISE. THEN THE LIGHT WOULD SHUT OFF AND IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS OR A FEW HOURS. THE LIGHTS CAME ON FOR THE LAST TIME AND STAYED ON. ALSO THE BRAKE WENT ALL THOUGH WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT FELT LIKE THE STEERING WASN'T CONTROLLABLE. THE CAR WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP CT AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT IT NEEDED A NEW YAW SENSOR. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT BACK FIXED IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I SUGGEST THAT ANYONE WHO HAS THESE ISSUES CALL YOUR DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM RUN THE COMPUTER DIAG. TEST ON THE CAR. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE CT DEALERSHIP SAID THAT SOME OF THE EARLIER '05'S NEEDED NEW MODULARS, TO FIX THIS PROBLEM... *NM
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE TWICE-- PEDAL TO FLOOR. PROBLEM NOT IDENTIFIED BECAUSE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE FAILURE. CAR NOT REPAIRED AND STILL DANGEROUS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE STOPPED APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 2 CAR LENGTHS AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL BRAKING POINT. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER THREE TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. AS OF JULY 24, 2007, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,332 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE REAR BRAKE WOULD LOCK, CAUSING THE CALIPERS AND ROTORS TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE EXACT CAUSE FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE REAR BRAKE CONTINUED TO LOCK WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
