AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. MY VEHICLE IS ON SAFERCAR WEBSITE CITING THE PROBLEM. HONDA HAS YET TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE. A LETTER WAS SENT TO HONDA ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *JS
INFORMED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES THAT VEHICLE WAS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AS SALVAGE IN 2014. WITH LAST CONVERSATION, HONDA REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED THAT THE DATABASE THAT HONDA UTILIZES FOR TRACKING TAKATA AIRBAGS IS OUT OF DATE ... AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE SOME TIME FOR HONDA TO CEASE SENDING RECALL NOTICES. THIS FAILURE TO MAINTAIN UP TO DATE RECORDS IS COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEP BLOWING AFTER A FEW MONTHS HAVE ALMOST WRECKED FROM LOW LIGHT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT HAVE ALSO HAD BOTH LOW BEAMS BLOW WHEN DRIVING.CREATING A MAJOR PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,793.
AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS START TO PULSE OR FLICKER (2 TO 3 TIMES A SECOND) CONTINUOUSLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. HAVE TO REPLACE LOW BEAM BULBS EVERY 3 TO 5 MONTHS. BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHTS INADVERTENTLY TURN OFF AND ON FOR A FEW SECONDS BUY THEMSELVES. HIGH BEAM LIGHTS SEAM TO WORK FINE. THE ABOVE ISSUES I LISTED ARE THE SAME OR SIMILAR TO THOSE IN THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 12-023 THAT COVERS A RECALL FOR THE 2002-04 CRV. I BELIEVE THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE AMENDED TO COVER THE 2005 HONDA CRV BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS ONGOING SAFETY FAILURE. HONDA AMERICA TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAID TO TAKE THE CRV TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO EVALUATE THE DEFECT BUT WOULD NOT ADDRESS MY ISSUES UNDER THE RECALL UNLESS THE NHTSA MANDATES AN AMENDMENT TO THE RECALL TO INCLUDE THE 2005 HONDA CRV. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT YOU ADDRESS THIS CONCERN IMMEDIATELY SO THAT I AND OTHER 2005 HONDA CRV OWNERS CAN RESOLVE THESE SAFETY FLAWS. *JS
3 TIMES IN THE LAST 8 MONTHS I HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT. IT WILL WORK THEN GO TO A LOW LIGHT. NOW, REPLACEMENTS JUST LEAVES THE DIM VERSION OF A HEADLIGHT BEAM ON. THE RECALL SKIPS THE 2005 HONDA CRV AND IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS THEY HAVE INCLUDED LATER YEAR MODELS OF OTHER HONDA VEHICLES. I CAN NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO NO VISIBILITY ON MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FAILS TO STAY IN THE UP POSITION, THUS BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE TRAFFIC AHEAD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO STAND BEHIND THE PROBLEM. 2005 CRV HAS FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL MAP LIGHTS, ETC... IT HAS ALSO BEEN PROBLEMATIC SINCE NEW WITH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURE HAVE REPLACED HEADLIGHTS AT AN AVERAGE OF 6 MONTH INTERVALS.THIS SHOULD BE PLACED ON A RECALL TO EXTEND THROUGH 2006 MODELS.THIS IS A PROBLEM REPEATEDLY MENTIONED ON OTHER BLOG / FORUM AUTOMOTIVE SITES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED INDEPENDENTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKING TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND THE TORQUE STEER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ALSO, WHILE BRAKING, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCKS: THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLESS THE KEY IS USED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. TRYING TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE DOORS WITH THE REMOTE WILL WORK FOR ALL THE DOORS EXCEPT THE DRIVERS. TRYING TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE DOORS WITH THE KEY WILL WORK FOR ALL THE DOORS EXCEPT THE DRIVERS UNLESS YOU ARE USING THE KEY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT STOPPED ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BOTH MY SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO COLLISION OR IMPACT TO THE CAR. I ALMOST DROVE OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS SO STARTLED BY THIS OCCURRING. I CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I THEN CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING BUT GIVE ME AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. THEY WANT ME TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY CAME TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THEY FOUND NO REASON WHY THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND TOLD ME IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA WITH THIS FINDING AND THEY STILL REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMING THEY WEREN'T LIABLE FOR THE DEFECT. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE THERE MAY BE PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT AIRBAGS, I AM SIX MONTHS PREGNANT AND AM NOT GOING TO RISK MY LIFE OR MY CHILD'S LIFE BECAUSE OF HONDAS INABILITY TO FIX A PROBLEM WITH AN AIRBAG. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THESE AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. HOW CAN AIRBAGS DEPLOY WITH NO WARNING OR REASON. *TR
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS DID NOT RESTRAINT OCCUPANTS IN A THREE CAR ACCIDENT. CRV HIT FROM BEHIND. CRV HIT CAR AHEAD. DRIVER CHEST HIT STEERING WHEEL. PASSENGER HIT WINDOW AND DASH. RELATIVELY LOW SPEED ACCIDENT. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEATS BELTS ENDED UP EXTENDED AND STUCK IN THIS POSITION. SEAT BELTS WILL NOW NOT RETRACT. *TR
UNDER ACCELERATION,... AND ONLY UNDER ACCELERATION,... THE 2005 CR-V... "TORQUE-STEERS"... TO THE RIGHT! THE HARDER THE ACCELERATION,... THE HARDER IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT!... IF THIS CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN BY A PERSON THAT WAS NOT PAYING PROPER ATTENTION TO THEIR DRIVING... THEY WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE AN ACCIDENT!... THE CAR WOULD GO TO THE RIGHT AND GO OFF THE ROAD,.. OR HIT ANYTHING THAT WAS TO THEIR RIGHT!.. I.E. ANOTHER CAR, PEDESTRIAN,... TREE,... ETC. THIS PROBLEM MAY VERY WELL HAVE EXISTED FROM DAY ONE,... HOWEVER IT HAS VIRTUALLY ALWAYS BEEN DRIVEN... "GENTLY"... FOR BEST FUEL MILEAGE.. IT WAS ONLY AFTER A MECHANIC REPLACED A FAULTY "ANTI-LOCK BRAKING-SYSTEM MODULE" THAT THIS WAS DISCOVERED. AFTER THE ABS MODULE WAS REPLACED, IT WAS TEST-DRIVEN. (I.E.) ACCELERATE, THEN BRAKE,... REPEAT. UNDER THIS HARDER THAN NORMAL ACCELERATION, THE TORQUE-STEER WAS DISCOVERED. NOTE: (1.) VEHICLE WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS GOOD... (2.) TIRES ARE ALL PROPERLY INFLATED... (3.) AT A CONSTANT/ STEADY SPEED,... AND DURING BRAKING... THE CAR ALWAYS GOES STRAIGHT! (4.) IT ONLY PULLS HARD TO THE RIGHT DURING ACCELERATION... THE GREATER THE ACCELERATION... THE HARDER IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT! (5.) THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT.. ATTACKED ANY CURBS,... HIT ANY SERIOUS POTHOLES... ETC.
ON 5 OCCASIONS IN THE PAST 3 YEARS THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT. FUSE WAS GOOD. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS CONTINUE TO FAIL, NEED TO KEEP REPLACING BULBS NOW ONLY ONE WORKS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE W HONDAS FOR WHICH A MASSIVE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN 2012 FOR OVER 800,000 CARS. I CALLED HONDA WHO LOOKED UP MY VIN AND EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY VIN DID NOT APPEAR ON THEIR LIST. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START ON THE FIRST COLD DAY OF THE SEASON. WHEN CHECKING THE VOLTAGE ON THE BATTERY, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON THE POSITIVE CONNECTION. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ORIGINAL CLAMP HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH AN AFTER-MARKET CLAMP. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED CORROSION BACK THROUGH THE CABLE ITSELF WHICH WOULD NOT ALLOW CUTTING THE AFFECTED CABLE BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO SHORT TO REACH THE BATTERY. *TR
LIGHT BULBS FAIL FREQUENTLY (ANYWHERE FROM APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MONTHS) FOR NO APPARENT REASON. USUALLY ONE LIGHT AT A TIME. CONSTANTLY REPLACING BULBS BOTH INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR. RECEIVE A TICKET IN NY STATE LAST WEEK FOR A BLOWN LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT THAT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED LAST MONTH. LAST WINTER I REPLACED ALL FUSES JUST IN CASE, HOWEVER, THAT HAS NOT STOPPED THE PROBLEM. AS STATED BY ANOTHER OWNER - "THIS IS A VERY WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM. AND [OBVIOUSLY] A POOR DESIGN ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY AN OUTSTANDING RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR MODEL YEARS 2002-2004 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V136000). FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE AT LEAST AS PREVALENT (IF NOT MORE SO) IN THE 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS. PLEASE EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE THOSE MODEL YEARS AND FORCE HONDA TO OWN UP TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A POOR DESIGN ISSUE. THIS IS A [MAJOR] SAFETY ISSUE." CRV IS IN THE SHOP NOW GETTING A NEW AIR COMPRESSOR ($2,500) - ENGINE OVER HEATED DUE TO THE A/C UNIT IN THE PASSING LANE ON I-95 IN WASHINGTON, DC ON MONDAY. NOT VERY HAPPY WITH HONDA RIGHT NOW. *TR
THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO LOCK UNLESS A KEY WAS USED WHICH WOULD ONLY WORK ON THE FRONT DOORS. THE KEY WOULD NO LONGER UNLOCK THE DOORS UNLESS IT WAS MANUALLY. THE REAR BACK DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS JEOPARDIZED THE SAFETY OF MY CAR, AND MYSELF. I WENT TO APPLE TREE HONDA WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY DID NOT LET ME KNOW THAT THIS HAD BEEN A RECURRENT PROBLEM ON OTHER CARS. THEY CHARGED ME $587.50 TO REPLACE ALL THE LOCKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT BOTH OF THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, BURNING FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE WINDOW BUT IT FAILED TO OPEN. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE DOOR SIDE PANEL, AND NOTICED THAT THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH AND WIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 270,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED BY THE CONTACT AND THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 12V136000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) AND 12V136000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE REAR DOOR FALLS OFF THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR. THERE IS ONLY ONE HINGE HOLDING THE DOOR ONTO THE BODY. IT IS MOUNTED HALFWAY DOWN THE DOOR AND IS EXTERNAL AND EXPOSED TO THE WEATHER. WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR THE METAL PIN THAT HOLDS THE HINGE TOGETHER HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED INSIDE THE HINGE AND IS COMPLETELY BROKEN HALF WAY DOWN INSIDE THE HINGE, SO THAT WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR THE HINGE PULLS APART AND THE DOOR FALLS OFF THE BODY. THIS REAR DOOR IS THE REAR HATCH OPENING ACCESS TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT COVERS THE ENTIRE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROOF TO THE FLOOR AND FROM THE LEFT SIDE TO THE RIGHT SIDE. IT OPENS FROM THE LEFT TO THE RIGHT. I CAN'T GET THE RUSTED PIN OUT BECAUSE IT HAS TURNED INTO A SOLID PIECE OF RUSTED METAL INSIDE THE HINGE. THE NEWER VERSIONS OF THE CRV HAVE A HATCH THAT IS DOUBLE-HINGED FROM THE ROOF AND OPENS FROM BOTTOM TO TOP. *TR

AFTER THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING, THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V486000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , VISIBILITY). THE CONTACT STATED THE RECALL MAY BE RELATED TO THE ENGINE FAILURE SHE EXPERIENCED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000. *TR
SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I HAVE REPLACED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIVE TIMES. RECENTLY, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BURNT OUT, BUT SIMPLY REPLACING THE BULB DID NOT WORK. *TR
MAY 14, 2013 LOW BEAM DRIVER'S SIDE FAILED. REPLACED BULB. JUNE 5, 2013 DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM BULB FAILED. REPLACED BULB. JUNE 15, DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM BULB FAILED. HAVING HOME DEALER CHECK WIRING. FOUND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THE 2005 CR-V. IT'S GETTING EXPENSIVE - THE AIR CONDITIONER ALSO FAILED WHILE ON VACATION, A $3900 FIX. HONDA NEEDS TO MAN UP ON THIS. *TR
2005 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE WHEEL SUSPENSION SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS WIFE BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, SHE FELT A CRUNCH AND A DROP COME FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE A FRAME OF THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SUSPENSION FAILED AT THE WELDED ATTACH POINT ON THE SWAY BAR. THE WELD HAD BEEN FAILING FOR SOME TIME AS THERE WAS RUST AND DIRT ON SOME OF THE BROKEN EDGES. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE FRONT CONTROL ARM BROKE, CAUSING THE AXLE TO FAIL AND THE SWAY BAR LINK TO FAIL.
HEADLIGHT FAILED. I HAVE REPLACED DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULBS 5 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. EVERY COUPLE MONTHS ONE OR THE OTHER GOES OUT. THE MOST RECENT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO. *TR
IT WAS REPORTED LAST SUMMER (2014) THAT MANY HONDA VEHICLES WERE BEING RECALLED DUE TO FAULTY AIR BAGS. I CALLED MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF THE NEWS REPORT AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY 2005 HONDA CR-V WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL. HOWEVER, EARLIER THIS YEAR I ENTERED MY CAR'S VIN IN AN ONLINE SEARCH AND WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT IT WAS UNDER RECALL DUE TO FAULTY AIRBAGS. HONDA NEVER TO THIS DATE SENT ME A LETTER TO INFORM ME. I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE OFFICES AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY VEHICLE IS UNDER THE RECALL. THEY DID NOT SENT ME A LETTER BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING SENT IN PHASES. I WAS TOLD THAT AN AIRBAG FOR MY CAR WOULD BE SENT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP BY EARLY APRIL. UNFORTUNATELY, MY DEALERSHIP NEVER RECEIVED IT AND TOLD ME THAT THE AIRBAG IS ON ORDER. HONDA CORPORATE OFFERED ME A FREE LOANER CAR SO THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE MY CURRENT CAR. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE A LOANER CAR FOR MONTHS. I WAS TOLD THAT HONDA WOULD GET TO THE PEOPLE DRIVING LOANER CARS BEFORE OTHER DRIVERS. THEY DO NOT EXPECT TO SERVICE MY CAR BEFORE THE SUMMER. I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS PROCESS: NEVER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER & THE TIME IT IS TAKING TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED.
THE TRANSMISSION BLEW WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER, DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE FORWARD MOTION SUDDENLY CUT OUT. LUCKILY WE HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY OR 4 PEOPLE WOULD BE DEAD. THE CAR HAD JUST HAD A TRIP INSPECTION WITHIN 10 DAYS, ALL SYSTEMS GO, AND WE TOOK THE CAR SHOPPING IN THE MORNING WITH NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER BY PERFORMANCE, NOISE, ETC THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG AT ALL. THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS TOTAL AND SUDDEN. HONDA DENIES ANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR, WHICH, IF I LIVED IN A DIFFERENT STATE, WOULD BE A LEMON. ITS HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY GO OUT, AND IT AND ITS TWIN, A 2006 CRV, BOTH HAD BROKEN AC AROUND 90000 MILES. THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR IS $4300. THIS PIECE OF JUNK METAL IS NOW THE MOST EXPENSIVE CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED IN TERMS OF OWNER COST. *TR
ON A 2013 CAR ACCIDENT. I ALONG WITH 2 OTHER PASSENGERS EXPERIENCED A FRONTAL COLLISION ,WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE ,WHO RAN A RED LIGHT. UPON IMPACT ,THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED.THE FORCE FROM THE AIRBAG WAS SO SEVERE,IT FORCED MY HEAD BACK ,HITTING(BRUISING) THE PASSENGER SEATED BEHIND ME. I MOMENTARILY BLACKED OUT,TO BE AWOKEN BY THE BURNING SENSATION OF MY ARM.SOME KIND OF SOLVENT OR KIND OF FUEL CELL TO DEPLOY THE BAG,CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS BURNING MY RIGHT ARM.THOUGH THE FIRE WAS ONLY CONTAINED ON MY ARM,AND THANKFUL IT HAD NOT SPREAD WE WERE TREATED FOR TRAUMA,MYSELF FOR TRAUMA AND 2ND DEGREE BURNS AT THE ER.WE ALSO SHOW REPORTS FROM THE ATTENDING PHYSICIAN AND POLICE REPORTS,DECRIBING THE ACCIDENT.WE HAD TRIED TO CONTACT HONDA AT THE TIME,AND CHECKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL WAS ISSUED. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM LAMPS AND ONE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LAMP IN 45 DAYS. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED FOR 2002-2004 CR-VS, BUT NOTHING WAS DONE FOR 2005-2006 VEHICLES EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING DURING NIGHT HOURS, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE BULBS WERE NOT A PROBLEM AND THAT THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 65,200. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED MY 2005 HONDA CRV USED FROM AN OWNER IN MAY 2011. IN THE 2+ YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT I HAVE CHANGED THE REGULAR HEADLIGHT BULBS 3-4 TIMES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHTS SO OFTEN IN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED. AND, TO TOP IT OFF, JUST RECENTLY I'VE NOTICED THE REVERSE LIGHTS ARE OUT NOW TOO! I URGE HONDA TO EXTEND THEIR HEADLIGHT RECALL TO THE 2005 CRVS AS WELL, AS IT SEEMS THAT THIS RECALLED ELECTRICAL ISSUE CONTINUES TO LATER VERSIONS. HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THEM FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE BURNING OUT TOO. I HAD TO REPLACE THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT, THE TEMPERATUE CONTROL, AIR CONDITIONING, RECIRCULATE, ODOMETER LIGHTS. NOW THE RPM LIGHT IS STARTING TO GO. IT IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE TO BE REPLACING ALL THESE LIGHTS. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE $8.99 EACH AND I PAID $230 TO REPLACE THE DASH LIGHTS. AFTER REPLACEING THE DASH LIGHTS, WHEN I USE THE REMOTE TO UNCLOCK MY CAR, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS BLINK THREE TIMES (THEY NEVER DID THAT BEFORE). I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I TURN ON MY TURN SIGNAL I HEAR A HIGH PITCH NOISE. I AM WORRIED THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHEN THE STORE IS CLOSED AND I CAN'T GET IT FIXED. I MAY GET A TICKET OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK IN THE DARK. ALSO WHAT IF BOTH HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME, THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS FAILURE ON REPAIR FORUMS FOR 2005 YEAR CR-VS, AND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ALREADY IN THE NHSTB DATABASE AS WELL. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE COMPRESSOR BEARINGS FAILING INTERNALLY AND CAUSING A HOLE IN THE CASING. THE ESTIMATE IS $1350.00 TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR, CONDENSER, EXPANSION VALVE AND FLUSH THE SYSTEM OF FRAGMENTS THAT MAY HAVE ENTERED THE SYSTEM. AFTER A PHONE CALL TO AMERICAN HONDA I AM TOLD THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE IT'S WARRANTY PERIOD. SINCE THE REPAIRS HAVE ALREADY BEEN STARTED, I AM UNABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. HONDA'S POSITION IS THEY DO NOT HAVE CONTRACTS WITH INDEPENDENT SERVICE PROVIDERS SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME.THIS 2005 HONDA CRV HAS 90,000 MILES AND JOINS THE RANKS OF OTHER HONDAS WITH SIMILAR UNCOMPENSATED REPAIRS FOR AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE. *TR

NO SIGN OF WATER IN HOUSINGS. OTHER BULBS ALSO HAVE SHORTER LIFE THAN EXPECTED. ALSO HAD TO REPLACE DOME LIGHT, RUNNING LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS DURING THE SAME PERIOD. OBVIOUSLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. ANNOYING AND EXPENSIVE. HEADLIGHTS ARE EASY TO CHANGE BUT TAIL LIGHTS AND RUNNING LIGHTS ARE NOT EASY TO CHANGE. YOU CAN FIND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET BUT THERE ARE NO HONDA RECALLS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD OTHER HONDA, TOYOTA, FORD AND GM VEHICLES WHERE THE HEADLIGHTS LAST INDEFINITELY. EIGHT BLOWN BULBS IN TWO YEARS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. *TR
