WHEN STARTING THE CAR IN THE MORNING THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE. IT IS NOW GETTING WORSE. FROM THE DESCRIPTION SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON IN THE 2014 HONDA CR-V. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR. I BELIEVE THE PART HONDA HAS USED IS DEFECTIVE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN EARLIER VERSIONS OF THE CR-V AND ACCORD.
WHEN HEATER IS ON, COLD AIR COMES OUT OF DRIVERS SIDE VENTS AND HOT AIR OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEATER CORE.
IN AUGUST 2018 I BROUGHT VEHICLE TO PRIVATELY OWNED SHOP THAT I TRUST TO RESEARCH A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BAY WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. MECHANIC FOUND THROUGH INSPECTION/RESEARCH THAT TIMING CHAIN LIKELY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($1000 JOB) ON 2014 CR-V'S. AT THAT TIME MY VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES, SO IT WAS WITHIN THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTEE PERIOD (5YRS/60KMI). THE MECHANIC ALSO FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING QUITE A BIT OF OIL FOR SUCH A NEW CAR AND HE SAID IT HAD A CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I CALLED HONDA IN AUGUST 2018, AND STARTED A CASE REGARDING OIL CONSUMPTION AND NOISE RELATED TO TIMING CHAIN. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALERSHIP TO BEGIN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND TO HAVE NOISE LOOKED AT. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO LIA HONDA WHO TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED TO START CONSUMPTION TEST B/C THE OIL WAS RECENTLY CHANGED AND IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF NEW OIL. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO KEELER HONDA IN NOVEMBER OF 2018 TO COMPLETE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHEN THE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED AND TO HAVE THE NOISE CHECKED OUT. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE NOISE, STATING THE CAR WAS FINE. AS I DROVE THE CAR OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THE NOISE GOT WORSE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY STATED I SHOULD BRING THE CAR BACK TO HONDA BECAUSE IT SHOULD'VE BEEN UNDER WARRANTEE AND SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY WRONG. I CALLED HONDA MANUFACTURER AND REFERENCED MY CASE FROM AUG OF 2018- THEY AGREED TO DOCUMENT THAT MY CAR WAS COVERED B/C THESE ISSUES STEM FROM WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTEE (NOW HAS 62KMI). KEELER HONDA FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE VTC ACTUATOR RELATED TO NOISE. THIS WAS REPLACED AND COVERED BY HONDA. THE CAR STILL HAS OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE! 2015 CR-V'S WERE RECALLED DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, BUT NOT 2014'S? SAME ISSUE!!!!!
CAR HESITATES AND THEN MAY SURGE ON ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY FROM FULL STOP, ROLLING STOP, OR LOW SPEED, AS IN HIGHWAY MERGING. I SUSPECT THE TRANSMISSION. IT IS INTERMITTENT, AT LEAST SEVERAL TIMES/WEEK FROM 2017-2018.
DRVERS SIDE FLOOR VENTS AND FRT VENTS AND DEFOGER BLOWES COOL AIR PASSENGERSIDE VENTS ALL BLOW HOT AIR. AC OPERATES OK HEAT IN WINTER IS PROBLEM. THERE IS A TECH BUL. OUT FOR REPAIR DUE TO HEATER CORE CLOGING UP. HONDA WILL NOT HONOR WARRENTY AND IS FOR 2012 -2014 HONDA CRV'S TECH BUL 14-063. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE FLUSH $400. CAR HAS 30,000MILES AND IS 4YRS OLD. THEY SAY IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, I CANNOT BELIVE DEFROSTING DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE!!!! I EVEN HAVE 100,000MILE EXT HONDA CARE WARRENTY WHICH I PAYED $2000 FOR.
CHRONIC ENGINE LIGHT FROM DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN. NOISE (RATTLING) FROM TIMING CHAIN AREA.THE TIMING CHAIN STARTED MAKING NOISE @ 80K. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO ILLUMINATE IN EARLY OCTOBER WITH CODE P0341. CEL ILLUMINATE ON START UP. AFTER CLEARING CODE VEHICLE DRIVING THE REST OF DAY WITHOUT CEL RE ILLUMINATING TO NEXT MORNING. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP (SEE ATTACHED) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REMOVED THE TIMING COVER EXPOSING FAILED PARTS. AFTER BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME NATURE REQUIRING TIMING CHAIN AND RELATED PARTS HAVING TO BE REPLACED ON 2013 AND 2014 HONDA CR-V MILEAGE AS 58,000 (SEE ATTACHED). ATTACHED IS A STATEMENT FROM THE MASTER CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN HOW PREFORMED THE REPAIRS. I ALSO HAVE RETAINED ALL PARTS REPLACED. WHEN THE CEL LIGHT ILLUMINATE THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT,STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT,AND ELECTRIC STEERING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED(SEE ATTACHED)
ENGINE RATTLES FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS ON STARTING THE CAR AFTER A LONG PERIOD (AROUND 8 HOURS). CONTACTED HONDA, AND THEY WANT THE CUSTOMER TO COVER MAJORITY OF THE COST. HONDA SAYS THE ISSUE IS ONLY A NUISANCE AND WILL NOT CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE, BUT WILL NOT GIVE THIS IN WRITING.
THE CRV STARTS TO SHAKE WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR GOES AWAY ONCE IT REACHES ABOVE 30 MILE/HOUR. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE LAST 8 MONTHS.
Known Honda issue- tsb a15-086 Software update and trans fluid change in 2018 due to car juddering with light acceleration, did not fix problem. 10/20/23 car was road tested and concern was present. Needs new torque converter to fix original concern
VTC ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT 86,000 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER COST WILL BE $1000.00 NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS ALTHOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND REPAIRS FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL
LOUD GRINDING NOISE AT STARTUP. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE IN THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL THAT CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING.
THE SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON THE TOLLWAY. THIS WAS PRECEDED BY A LOUD SOUND ABOVE MY HEAD. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF OBJECT IMPACT FROM THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE A DASH CAMERA AND SHOWED NO ABNORMAL ACTIVITY OR OBJECTS FLYING TOWARDS THE CAR. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE ANYWHERE ELSE BUT THE SUNROOF. LUCKILY THE SHADE WAS CLOSED OR I WOULD'VE BEEN SHOWERED WITH BROKEN GLASS.
PASSENGER IN FRONT SEAT WHEN REAR ENDED AT ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH. SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK WHICH ALLOWED ME TO FLY FORWARD AND HIT DASH BOARD OR FRONT PILLAR
BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP IN AUGUST OF 2018. SECOND I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE A VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. I BROUGHT IT BACK 4 DAYS LATER BECAUSE OF THE VIBRATION AND BURNING SMELL WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES. I HAD TO GET A NEW AXEL REPLACED ON THE CAR. AFTER I HAD TO RETURN CAR AGAIN A WEEK LATER FOR THE EXACT SAME VIBRATIONS. YET SINCE THEN THE CAR STILL SHAKES, AFTER BRINGING IT TO NUMEROUS MECHANICS THE CAR STILL SHAKES. I JUST BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE AGAIN WHY EXACTLY IT IS STILL SHAKING. I HAD TO GET A NEW DIFFERENTIA FOR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. I RETURNED IT AGAIN A WEEK LATER FOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SEE IF THAT WILL WORK AND STILL PERSISTS TO SHAKE.
VTC failed July 2018. Honda stated I must pay for the repair costing $662. According to Honda receipt the R5A new VTC was installed. Now it's January 2024 and car VTC failing again. Note: When I changed the valve cover gasket I looked at the VTC and noticed that it says R44. Basically they lied about the repair and put another of the defective VTC. Obviously a much more expensive repair this time due to Honda negligence and dishonesty.
AT ABOUT 40K MILES I STARTED GETTING A GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE ON SOME COLD STARTS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE IT. A YEAR LATER I RESEARCH THE ISSUE MYSELF AND FIND OUT ITS THE EXTREMELY COMMON VTC ACTUATOR NOISE. I CONTACT HONDA OF AMERICA WHO TELLS ME TO HAVE THE DEALER TAKE A LOOK AT IT. AGAIN THEY CANT REPLICATE IT. IM NOW AT 65K MILES AND OUT OF MY WARRANTY RANGE, SOUND IS ON EVERY START AFTER CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR AT LEAST HALF HOUR. ITS LOUD ENOUGH TO SCARE PEDESTRIANS WALKING PAST WHEN I START IT IN PUBLIC PLACES (VERY EMBARRASSING). HONDA BULLETIN SAYS "ALL" 2014 HAVE A "DEFECTIVE" VTC ACTUATOR POSTED IN A 2016 BULLETIN. WHY DID THEY NOT REPLACE MINE WHEN I MADE THE COMPLAINT. SEEN REPORTS OF THIS CAUSING WEAR TO THE TIMING CHAIN AND A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF REPAIRS. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL.
ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AT A LOCAL CVS THE CAR SELF ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH SPEED. THE CAR CHARGED FORWARD . THE BRAKES COULD NOT STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT SLAMMED INTO 2 PARKED CARS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORE ENTRANCE.ALSO, THE SAFETY BAGS DID NOT OPEN. THE CAR WAS LIKE A RAGING BULL. THE CAR WENT OVER 1 PARKING BLOCK CROSSING OVER THE FRONT OF THE STORE ,OVER ANOTHER BLOCK BEFORE STOPPING.. THE ACCELERATOR WENT BERSERK WITHOUT ANY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. I AM UNABLE TO SCAN ANY REPORTS ELECTRONIALLY
DRIVING SLOWLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON I-95 IN PHILA CAR STALLED AND WAS RESTARTED, BUT BATTERY LIGHT STAYED ON. ENGINE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR WAS NORMAL. AFTER 15 MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL SLOW DRIVING CAR STARTED SMOKING UNDER THE HOOD. SOON AFTER PULLING OVER TO SHOULDER, FLAMES STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A SHORT TIME LATER THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. 911 WAS CALLED, POLICE AND FIRE TRUCK CAME. CAR WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. MILEAGE WAS APPROX 32,000 AND VEHICLE WAS WELL-MAINTAINED. PHILADELPHIA POLICE (OR POSSIBLY PA STATE POLICE) REPORT WAS FILED: PA2018.545044. I UPLOADED TWO VERY GRAPHIC PICTURES - ONE SHOWING ENTIRE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FLAMES. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE, PLEASE CONTACT ME.
ENGINE SPUTTERS WHEN GOING INTO 2ND GEAR.
VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL (VTC) ACTUATOR FAILED AS DESCRIBED IN HONDA TSB 16-012. INFORMED BY HONDA DEALER THAT FAILURE WOULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE IF NOT REPAIRED. HONDA REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR.
APRIL 26, 2018 I BOUGHT MY WIFE'S HONDA 2014 CR-V NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2014. WE ARE BOTH QUITE HAPPY WITH THE CAR, WITH ONE SIGNIFICANT EXCEPTION. THE TPMS DOES NOT WORK. IN 2014 HONDA CHANGED THEIR TPMS FROM THE CONVENTIONAL SYSTEM WHICH USES PRESSURE SENSORS IN THE WHEELS. INSTEAD, IT COMPARES THE REVOLUTIONS OF THE TIRES ON THE THEORY THAT A LOW TIRE WILL ROTATE FASTER THAN A NORMALLY INFLATED TIRE. THIS IS A GOOD IDEA IN THEORY. HOWEVER, IN PRACTICE IT DOES NOT WORK. THE SOFTWARE MUST ACCOUNT FOR THE FACT THAT THE TIRES DO NOT ROTATE EQUALLY ON TURNS. ALSO, SLIGHT (AND ACCCEPTABLE) DIFFERENCES IN PRESSURE OR TIRE WEAR WILL RESULT IN ERRORS THAT THE SOFTWARE MUST DEAL WITH. HONDA ISSUED TSB 14-006 IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, BUT IF IT HAS BEEN APPLIED TO OUR CAR IT HAS NOT WORKED. THE TPMS LIGHT ON OUR CR-V IS UNRELIABLE. IT OCCASIONALLY LIGHTS WHEN THE TIRES ARE OK, BUT HAS FAILED TO INDICATE LOW OR FLAT TIRES FOR US SEVERAL TIMES. MY WIFE WENT TO THE DEALER IN PRESCOTT, AZ, THIS MORNING TO ASK WHETHER TSB 14'006 HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE CAR. THE REPLY WAS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AND IF THE TPMS LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON, THERE IS NO NEED TO DO IT. WE CAN LIVE WITH A NON-FUNCTIONAL TPMS SYSTEM. OUR PREVIOUS CARS WORKED WELL WITHOUT IT. OUR NORMAL MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES REQUIRE CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES PERIODICALLY. FOR SOME REASON THIS CAR DOES NOT PULL TO THE SIDE WHEN A TIRE GOES FLAT. A TPMS SHOULD FLAG A TIRE FAILURE WHEN ON THE ROAD. THREE TIMES WE HAVE HAD A TIRE FAIL WHILE DRIVING, WITH NO TPMS INDICATION. OUR LOSS HAS BEEN ONLY THREE TIRES; NO ACCIDENT RESULTED. IN MY OPINION THIS IS POTENTIALLY A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.
PURCHASED THE CAR IN DECEMBER 2014. TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. SHORTLY AFTER, PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY LIT. A FEW DAYS AGO, SIDE AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR CAME ON AND STAYED ON.
MY 2014 HONDA CRV WITH 75,000 MILES IS IN NEED OF A DRIVE SHAFT. I CANNOT FIND A RECALL ON THIS. HONDA IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. MY MECHANIC WAS INFORMED THAT THERE HAS BEEN TROUBLE WITH THIS PART ON OTHER 2014 MODELS.AS A MATTER OF FACT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED! IT SEEMS ABSURD TO ME THAT THIS SHOULD HAPPEN IN 75,000 MILES. CAN YOU HELP ME? AS YOU KNOW THIS WILL COST ME BETWEEN $2500.00-$3000.00!!! OF COURSE I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA VEHICLE SINCE THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER TO THAT COMPANY]!
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE NOTICED SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT MY CRV THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD SPORADICALLY GOES ON AND OFF, AND I WONDERED IF IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE INSTABILITY OF THE AIRBAGS.
I WANT TO ASK YOU TO INVESTIGATE A PROBLEM THAT HAS HONDA WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR (VARIABLE TEMPORAL CONTROL) WHICH LEAD TO A RATTLE NOISE WHEN START IN COOL WEATHER AND MOST OF THE MECHANICS KNOW ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PRESENT THE FAIL WHEN STARTED IN COLD CONDITIONS. ON THEIR DEALER OWN WORDS: THE VTC IS WORN OUT CAUSING THE RATTLE SOUND AND CHAIN IS STRETCHED. THE TENSIONER CRACK SEAL NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. ALL OF THEIR ANSWERS MAKE ME THINK IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY KNEW ABOUT IT AND THAT HONDA SHOULD MAKE A RECALL. THE COST WAS THOUSAND AND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS (1,600). THEY NEEDED TO OPEN THE ENGINE AND THE NOISE DIDN'T GO AWAY EVEN AFTER THE REPAIRS AND THE CAR IS NOW ACCELERATED A LITTLE TOO MUCH. THE TIRE GAUGE LIGHT WILL NOT RESET. I MADE SURE THE TIRES WERE INFLATED CORRECTLY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR A NORMAL BRAKE REPAIR. I ASKED HIM TO REST THE TIRE GAUGE. HE ADVISED ME THE GAUGE SENSORS ARE NOT WORKING ON ANY OF THE TIRES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE POWER STEERING, STABILITY, TIRE PRESSURE, AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER (HUGGINS HONDA, 7551 NE LOOP 820, NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX 76180) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
VTC ACTUATOR IS FAULTY. JUST OVER 65000 MILES.
HAVE DRIVEN A SMOOTH 2002 CRV SINCE NEW. IN 2018 BOUGHT 2014 CRV - FRONT END SHIMMIES OFTEN. SOME TIME VERY VIOLENT - CAN FEEL SHAKE ONTO GAS PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL.SEEMS TOO SENSITIVE TO ANY SMALL (HARD TO SEE) BUMPS ON ROAD. TOOK TO PEARSON PREOWNED (RICHMOND, VA) A MAJOR AUTO SELLER. THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. HAVE SEARCHED YOUTUBE AND FOUND SOME CLAIMS THAT THE SUPPORTS FOR THE RADIATOR CAN CAUSE THIS WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT. MY SHAKING DOES NOT OCCUR AT ANY STOP LIGHTS. I DESCRIBE THE SHAKING - LIKE A KID DRIBBLING A BASKETBALL. AND NOT 1-3 BOUNCES, BUT A LOT MORE (PROBABLY CLOSER TO 18). HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE DOWN A STREET, OR WHEN ACCELERATING. SCARY - ESPECIALLY WHEN IN MULTIPLE LANE TRAFFIC AND SURROUNDED BY OTHER AUTOS. HAPPENS EVERY TIME I HAVE DRIVEN IT SINCE PURCHASE IN MARCH, 2018. HAS PASSED INSPECTION WITHOUT ANY ISSUES..
THE COMPASS INDICATOR LIGHT WILL CONTINUOUSLY FLASH THE WRONG DIRECTION. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN STARTING THE CAR AS WELL AS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING EITHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. FOLLOWING THE RECALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL (DRIVING SLOWLY IN TIGHT CIRCLES) WILL USUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. THIS FIX MAY LAST A DAY OR AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES.

I PURCHASED MY USED CERTIFIED 2014 HONDA CR-V EX-L 11/2016 AND THE CAR SEEMED TO RUNNING SMOOTH AND VERY QUITE. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE FIRST SERVICE CALL THE CAR DIDN'T RUN THE SAME, I EVEN WHEN BACK A FEW DAYS AFTER THE CAR WAS SERVICED. SINCE THE IF I MAKE A SUDDEN STOP THE CAR STOPS AND I FINALLY HEAR THE TRANSMISSION CATCHING UP AND THIS CAUSE THE CAR TO JERK BACK IN THE SITTING POSITION. IF I AM GOING ABOUT TO GO THROUGH MY DRIVE THRU MINI MARKET AND I HAVE TO WAIT ON ANOTHER CAR AND THEN PROCEED THE TRANSMISSION ACTS AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO MOVE AND IT FINALLY JUMPS INTO GEAR WHICH ALLOWS THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS MY 5TH PURCHASE WITH HONDA, 1988 HATCH BACK CIVIC, 1990 HONDA ACCORD, HONDA CIVIC, 2003 HONDA ELEMENT AND NOW 2014 HONDA CR-V EX-L. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE FOUND IF I AM SITTING AND HIT THE GAS THE CAR EXCELS REALLY FAST AND IT SCARES ME. I HAVE READ A FEW REVIEWS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES WITH HOW THE CAR EXCELS REALLY FAST.
A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, ON FEBRUARY 16TH OR 17TH I STRUGGLED TO PUT MY SEATBELT ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST I HAD SEEN OF ANY ISSUES WITH MY SEATBELT. AS I INVESTIGATED FOR THAT I COULD SEE THAT BOTH THE SEATBELTS IN THE BACK HAD BEEN AFFECTED AND SO HAD THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH HONDA DEALERSHIP SCOTT ROBINSON IN TORRANCE AND WAS MET BY A VERY HOSTILE MEMBER OF STUFF WHO TOOK A LOOK AROUND MY CAR (NO TESTING OR INVESTIGATIONS) AND THEN QUOTED $1387 FOR PARTS AND $800 FOR LABOR. THE EMPLOYEE PROCEEDED, WITHOUT HAVING DONE ANY INVESTIGATIONS, THAT EITHER MY SON (REFERRING TO AUTISTIC BEHAVIORS) OR THE DOG DAMAGED MY SEATBELTS. I TOLD HIM NOT TO EQUATE AUTISM WITH VANDALISM, MY SON IS AUTISTIC BUT HE IS NOT A SAVAGE ALSO I CHALLENGE ANY HUMAN TO CHEW THROUGH SEATBELTS. THE EMPLOYEE THEN PROCEEDED TO CLAIM HE KNEW ALL ABOUT AUTISM AND COULD CRITICIZE AS HE PLEASED. I UNDERSTAND SCOTT ROBINSON ARE A PRIVATE DEALERSHIP BUT I WILL SAY THE BEHAVIOR OF THEIR STAFF IS APPALLING. I DECIDED IT WOULD BE BEST I TAKE MY CAR AND LEAVE AS I FELT THAT THE LACK OF INVESTIGATION AND IGNORING THE FACT THAT THERE IS A WARRANTY ON THE SEATBELTS TOPPED WITH INSULTING MY DISABLED SON WAS ENOUGH FOR ME TO BE THERE ANYMORE. I HOPE HONDA WILL HELP ME WITH THIS AND INVESTIGATE THE BELT FEED AS IT SEEMS THAT THE ISSUE IS INTERNAL RATHER THAN EXTERNAL. SOMETHING INSIDE THE BELT FEED IS CATCHING OR GRAZING THAT IS HAS WORN THE BELT DOWN INTO FRAYING.
THE DRIVER SIDE VENTS BLOW COLD AIR WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS BLOW HOT AIR. THE HEATER CORE WAS CLOGGED BY MINERAL BUILD UP.
THE ORIGINAL BATTERY OF MY HONDA CRV KEEPS DYING. LOCAL HONDA DEALER DID NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT AND I HAVE TO PAY $200 OUT OF MY POCKET TO REPLACE. ITS BEEN ONLY 3 YEARS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THE BATTERY IS ALREADY DRAINING OUT. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN UNSAFE PLACES AS A RESULT, WAITING FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO COME JUMPSTART THE CAR. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER (DUBLIN HONDA), THEY SAID THE BATTERY IS FAULTY AND ITS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE IT. I ENDED UP PAYING $200 FOR REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY AND ALL THE INCONVENIENCE OF GETTING STRANDED AT UNSAFE, UNSECURE PLACES WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR.
ENGINE METAL RATTLING NOISE ON COLD START UP. VERY DISTURBING. ENGINE HAS A ROUGH START AS RESULT.
RATTLING NOISE FOR 1 TO 3 SECONDS WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AT TEMPERATURES AROUND 35 DEGREES F. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY SINCE PURCHASE. HAVE TALKED WITH DEALER WITH NO RESOLUTION.
ON COLD START, THE ENGINE GRINDS FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AND THIS HAS HAPPENED PERIODICALLY SINCE. DEALER SERVICE SHOP USUALLY CANNOT REPLICATE IT BECAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENS ON COLD START AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. FINALLY GOT THEM TO REPLICATE THE NOISE IN JANUARY 2016 AND DIAGNOSED AS A VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM. APPARENTLY A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM AND "THEY FIX THESE ALL THE TIME, KNOWN ISSUE". A WEEK LATER THE NOISE STARTED AGAIN AND NOW THE DEALER CAN'T REPLICATE AGAIN. I ONLY HAVE 10 MONTHS LEFT ON MY WARRANTY AND THEY SAY THEY WON'T REPLACE IT AGAIN BECAUSE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE IT. IF IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE, THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED AGAIN ASAP. WORRIED ABOUT THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE, GIVEN THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE DAY ONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED DRASTICALLY. SCHOMP HONDA (1003 PLUM VALLEY LN, HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO, 1-(303) 798-1500) DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT/PROPELLER AND REAR AXLE MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING A SNOW STORM THE HEATER WAS BLOWING COLD AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE WINDSHIELD ICED OVER AND I COULD NOT SEE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO PROVIDE THE PROPER LIGHT COVERAGE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LOW AND HIGH BEAM BULBS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE HIGH AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE ADJUSTED TO THE LOWER POSITION, BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE LIGHTING FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DID NOT PROVIDE WIDE RANGE LIGHTING AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM SEEING A PEDESTRIAN IN THE DISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO SEE PEDESTRIANS AT A CLOSE DISTANCE WITH THE LOW BEAMS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
AS THE TEMPERATURES DROP, MY CAR MAKES A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AS THOUGH SOMETHING IS SEIZING IN THE ENGINE WHENEVER I START THE CAR WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. THE NOISE ONLY LASTS A FEW SECONDS, AFTER WHICH THE CAR RUNS PERFECTLY FINE. THE PROBLEM TENDS TO OCCUR WHENEVER I START THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING UNUSED FOR HOURS IN COLD WEATHER. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH HONDAS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
RATTLING NOISE FOR 1 OR 2 SECONDS WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AT TEMPERATURES AROUND 35 DEGREES F.
2014 HONDA CR-V, LX DO NOT HAVE FLOOR VENT WORKING ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS WAS JUST NOTICED IN A VERY COLD WEATHER AND HAD TO HAVE ELDERLY PASSENGER TO TRANSPORT. SO FAR THERE WAS NO OTHER RIDER IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE WE HAD THE OTHER VEHICLE FOR SUCH USE. THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR VENT WAS BLOWING BURNING HOT AIR, WHILE IT IS FREEZING COLD ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AREA.
GRINDING SOUND FOR 1-2 SECONDS AFTER THE ENGINE STARTS ESPECIALLY DURING COLD START. WHEN I GOOGLED IT, SAME SOUND THAT AFFECTING VTC ACTUATOR.
ENGINE MAKES A GRINDING SOUND UPON START UP ON COLD MORNINGS FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE PARKED. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED CAR. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS ABOUT THE VTC ACTUATOR, BUT THIS WAS NEVER MENTIONED TO ME. CONCERNED THIS WILL LEAD TO PROBLEMS IF NOT ADDRESSED.
