There is a KNOWN issue with Honda's Body Control Module (BCM) in 2017 Accord, Pilot, Insight, but except the CVR. Upon researching online, it looks like many 2017 CRV owners are experiencing the same issue with the BCM; CRV is not being recalled, but all other Honda models are. Bought it to our car technician, he indicated many CVRs are experiencing the same issue and recommended us to bring it to the Honda dealer. The Honda dealer wanted to charge us $1,700 to repair it, which is unacceptable when the BCM should be added into the recall as many parts are supplied by the same vender. Why did CRV is not part of the recall?
I was idling and all the warning lights came on. Car seemed driveable, but we replaced the battery as it was still the OEM battery. This did not fix the issue and all safety features are disengaged.
There is an aluminum cover that is bolted under the engine (lower engine cover, Honda part 74112-TLA-A01). This cover must be removed in order to change the oil. Twice now the cover has fallen off the engine while driving at highway speeds, causing the driver to have to stop suddenly. The car is then not drivable until the cover is bolted back. This could very easy cause an accident and steering problems. It seems to be a poor design and there are many similar reports on the internet.
Have owned the vehicle for 6 months. In that time the vehicle has applied braking by itself more than 10 times when there has been no reason (no car in front, no debris in road, no adverse weather, nothing but clear pavement), . Happens on low speed roads (35 mph) and also on highway speeds. Have been lucky not to be rear ended or cause another type of accident due to drivers avoiding the my car that is emergency braking for no reason. The times the vehicle flashes the "BRAKE" warning is 30 or more times (not applying the brakes - just audible alarm and message). Out of all those times, there were 2 instances that made sense for the vehicle to flash a warning. All others were false positives that frighten the driver and cause significant distraction from the driving task. This system should be shut off. The vehicle is less safe to drive with the system active. HELP!! Honda service has been no help on this issue.
28198 miles on the car. Very dangerous braking event. Going 20-25 mph on access road to the town hall and out of nowhere the CRV jammed on the brakes once with enough force to throw me against the steering wheel then a few seconds later a second hard braking episode. I parked the car and when I returned and started it back up...I "turned off" or supposedly "disengaged the system" figuring I could drive it home with no incident. A few miles down the road, going 40 mph the vehicle attempted to brake again just not quite as hard even with the ACC/lane departure/mitigation system turned off via the control on the steering wheel. Could lose control of vehicle if going fast enough. Getting hit from behind due to violent sudden stop. I intend to have car towed by Honda to the dealership when I am available to meet the tow truck after filing report with NHTSB and Honda. No warning lamps or issue of any kind which is to be expected with only 29K on the car. I did notice that morning the bars which show distance till system is supposed to sense items in front of the car were not being displayed. Normally they are displayed full time and didn't think anything of it till after the braking event. Very dangerous unexpected, no warning braking events.
All warning lights come on until reset. Eventually leads to the car stalling, three times in the middle of busy high speed intersections. Have brought to the Honda dealer multiple times and been given several very expensive fixes that all did not solve the issue. (Spark plugs, fuel injectors(x2), alternator). All safety features are suspended when this happens. I have an open case with American Honda cooperation but they have not responded in 3 weeks.
I was driving on the highway with cruise control on when I felt a slight stutter and loss of speed, followed by all my dashboard warning lights turn on. When I tried to press the acceleration, I could only maintain approximately 20mph, with high RPM. The car actually felt like it was maintaining 20mph without any acceleration input. I pulled over and shut the car down. After waiting a while, I restarted the car. All the warning lights remained on, but it seemed I was able to drive the car normally. I decided to drive it 30 minutes to the dealership along back roads not going over 35mph. The dealership "reset" the warning lights and completed several test drives, but they were not able to diagnose the issue. It has been a couple months since the issue and it has not reoccurred, however I have noticed an occasional stutter when trying to accelerate. It is unsettling to know it could happen again, and it seems there is no way to diagnose the problem.
At approximately 10:15am on 1/7/2023, I was driving down Westport Road at approximately 45mph. As I approached the intersection at Town Center Drive the collision warning system alert started to go off. There was no car in front of me and the cars on Town Center Drive were at a stop. As I went through the light, without warning, the automatic breaking system engaged, bringing my car to a complete stop. Fortunately, there was no car behind me or there would have been a serious accident.
1 year ago, 1/26/22, my 2017 Honda CR-V experienced a sudden loss of power/acceleration and every error message that could possibly turn on flashed on my dash display. The error messages displayed were very alarming as I remember some of them indicated braking and safety features failing. I was driving on an interstate at a speed of at least 60 mph and had to merge across two lanes of traffic to the nearest exit. I was unable to drive my vehicle any faster than 20-25mph but I was able to drive to a local Honda dealership (Buerkle Honda in Vandais Heights, MN) for diagnostics. I was told that the turbo charger needed to be replaced. I did not ask for any diagnostic details at this time and no root cause for the turbo charger failure was given. It was implied that it was not something completely out of the ordinary for a turbo charger to fail on a vehicle after 90k miles. January 5th 2023, less than a year after the turbo charger had been replaced, I found myself on an interstate again and experiencing DejaVu. The exact same symptoms that I had experienced with the vehicle before (warning messages, loss of engine power) happened again. This time the same dealership (Buerkle Honda) told me that they suspected oil sludge had clogged the oil system and caused the turbocharger to be starved of oil. They also told me that the engine would need to be replaced. This time the vehicle had 108k miles and was no longer in warranty. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic and was given a very different explanation. They changed the oil and found a significant amount of fuel mixed with the oil. They also noticed the engine air filter was saturated with oil (picture included). The saw that a vacuum hose had split and become "gummy" likely due to gas fumes infiltrating the vacuum system (picture included). The oil dilution problem is a well known issue with Honda MY 2017-2019 CR-Vs and this is just another result of Honda failing to find a solution for it.
Car goes into limp mode because of misfiring in cylinders - fuel in oil and In cylinders. Paid to flush injection system and clean oil of fuel and in two weeks it went back to the same issue. There is a known fuel/oil mixture issue and this is that problem.
I was going ~60-65MPH on the Ronald Reagan freeway east bound on a rainy day at ~ 3:40pm on 27th December 2022. I was going on the second from left lane between the Rinaldi and Porter Ranch exits. Unbeknownst to me this part of the freeway is notorious for flooding in the left lanes. I applied the brakes gently to slow down my car. Suddenly, I felt I lost steering, the car skidded the steering wheel turned left into the median barrier. The car then made a complete U-turn in the direction of traffic and flipped over one complete revolution. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the crash and other cars were not involved. There were no warnings and indication that the car was hydroplaning. The skidding safety feature was turned on. I released the car to the insurance company to recover monetary loss and I don't have any information on if it was inspected. CHP has an accident report with number 9580. The reason I am reporting this incident is because, I believe me gently braking to slow down from 60-65 to 50-55MPH should not have caused the car to U-turn and flip. I believe the 2017 Honda CRV safety system malfunctioned because unbeknownst to the Honda Sensing system the car was already hydroplaning. It braked and made some automatic steering and braking decisions that caused the car to turn and flip. I believe the control algorithm of the 2017 Honda CRV failed to detect the car was hydroplaning and subsequently executed steering and braking decisions that caused the total loss of my car.
I bought my Honda CRV in 2017 brand new, I have replaced the battery 3 times since then. This last time after replacing the battery all warning lights displayed. All warning lights cycle through. When these warning lights cycle through I am not able to engage any of my safety features. I was able to resolve the warning lights from displaying by driving 5 mph and then hitting the brake, but upon driving my car again later that day all warning lights reappear. As I am not able to use safety features on my car due to these warning lights being active, my car is deemed unsafe. It also appears on research that many owners of this vehicle are experiencing the same unsafe issue with no confirmed resolution.
Hello team, There is an ongoing issue with HONDA CRV's where all dashboard warning lamps turn on themselves and keep beeping and flashing, affecting all electronic features on the car. So many people are complaining about this issue, check google or You tube but Honda is not recalling these cars and if you are past your manufacturer warranty, the dealership charges a heck of money and when they fix the issue, that's a temporary solution as the issue comes back just a few days after. I would like to raise this issue and I hope my voice will be heard. I am a Canadian customer in Mississauga, I could not find the right form for Canadian customers Thank you
The battery in what used to be my 2017 Honda CR-V had a constant draw. The electronic emergency brake always drew from the vehicles battery when it was off, and would even drain the battery when there was a severe change in the temperature of the weather. This is a premature drain. Honda previously had tried to resolve my issues by replacing the battery. The diagnosis on their first attempt was less than stellar, all the Honda dealership did was replace what was a perfectly good battery and claim the vehicle was fixed. This suggests they never properly tested the battery, but instead made an assumption and took an advantage to make a profit off of their customer. Within three months, the battery was drained again, and needed to be jumped. This suggests the original battery they replaced, had no issues. After the battery had been jumped, there were three months of the battery operating. Then this past December, the battery once again suffered a premature drain. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership. This time the dealership claimed to have "updated the software" of the vehicle, thereby resolving the issue. The dealership gave us credit for the diagnosis, but not the previous battery they replaced. After taking the vehicle home and testing the battery after this so called "software update", the battery was still low and suffering from a constant draw. Upon further investigation, there is an entire law suit filed against Honda over this exact issue. This issue was listed as a recall by Honda, except there is no solution to it. This a premature battery failure issue. The law firm FeganScott has lawyers that mentioned Honda even knew about this in regard to the CR-V models from the years 2017-19. This is completely unacceptable for a manufacturer to sell vehicles that were not engineered properly with such an issue. Honda needs to be held accountable and needs to fix these vehicles. Additionally, this is absolutely a safety issue for their customers.
Part number 38809-TMM-A21 diagnosed by dealer as failed. Symptoms include the car will not shutoff, alarms on all safety features. Car horn (alarm) goes off unpredictably. Car has 46K miles. Parts are not generally available on back order for months, dealer says that they have a high number of these cases waiting for parts.
The Emissions Systems light came on my dashboard. I took the car in to the dealer and they informed me the code "P219E" came up and the CYL 1-3 failed rich, meaning the fuel injector is not metering fuel correctly.
The Body Control Module failed and needs to be replaced this has been verified by our local Honda dealership service center. After driving home the car would not turn off it took multiple attempts and then the alarm would start going off consistently and the lights and all dashboard would come on by itself. This then drained the battery and made the car unusable. The dash showed numerous error messages such as keyless start system problem, braking problem etc. I had no signs of anything being wrong with my car prior to this happening and I service my car regularly. This part #38809-TMM-A21 is on backorder and apparently has been since last year. I could be without my vehicle for months as some other customers have been due to this same problem and no part to replace the BCM.
Recurring parasitic battery draw down to below normal level to start vehicle. Have replaced car battery 4 times in ~2.5 years (8/20/20, 5/2/21, 12/1/22, all by AAA, & 12/13/22 by Honda. Honda performed battery test & updated VSA module & initialized sensors 5/4/21 (TSB A17-032, 6/14/17). Battery died again and replaced 12/1/22. Honda dealer said battery dead on 12/13 and AAA installed a bad battery on 12/1/22 (less than 2 weeks since replaced). Honda dealership unwilling to acknowledge what is a systemic electrical problem, diagnose repair &/or replacement options, and fix it for free. Have spent almost $500 on car batteries in -2.5 years. I believe this is an unreasonable out-of-pocket expenses. Noticed same problem reported in Internet forums. Google “2017 CRV battery problem” for more examples reported by other CRV vehicle owners. I believe that this problem is an extensive one that affects many owners and should be determined to be a safety recall issue. Now I have no confidence in the safety of the vehicle and won’t be driving it at night so as to avoid the possibility of being left stranded away from home. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
On six occasions, two of which were within the last month, my car has breached automatically for no apparent reason. It has stopped quickly from high speeds, and I am concerned that I could be rear ended if the car stops without warning. This has occurred on the freeway, and on the regular streets, with and without shadows, present, with and without rain. It has only happened during the day.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle experienced unintended braking. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after several minutes the vehicle started to operate normally. On another occasion while driving 70 MPH, the brake message illuminated; however, the vehicle remained operating as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 93,000. The VIN was not available.
Brake sensor warning light randomly came on. Emergency brake would't disengage. ABS module defective and had to be completely replaced and reprogrammed. Vehicle has less than 75000 miles; one owner.
The radio/head unit screen suddenly dimmed to the lowest level while driving making the screen unreadable. The screen shows radio details, Google Maps, Phone and many climate control functions. Access to the screen is needed while driving in order to change climate control settings, etc. Pressing the brightness buttons did nothing and so I had to pull over. The only way to address the issue was the restart the car. This is a known safety issue with this model year CRV and Honda won't repair (update the software) without payment. As a safety defect this should be covered under warranty or recall.
11/21/22: I was driving on a city street at the posted speed limit ( speed limit 25mph) and I noticed there was some road construction ahead that included steel plates on the street. There was no car ahead of me, but there was traffic behind me. I slowed and then braked slightly so I wouldn't hit the plates at full speed. Right then my car literally "slammed on the brakes" and I came to a complete stop before crossing the plates. Everything on the passenger seat flew to the floor and the car engine died. I did see an orange warning but it happened so quickly I don't recall what it was but I'm guessing it was the BRAKE warning. Thank goodness the driver behind me was paying attention or this would have caused a rear end accident! I did not go to the Honda dealer at the time but I read about this same type of issue which I think was caused by the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). I also read that this system cannot be turned off. It's just a matter of time before a serious accident occurs as a result of this defect in the CMBS system!
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 65 -70 MPH and attempting to pass another vehicle, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle gradually decelerated from 65 MPH to 40 MPH. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the message 'Emission Failure" and other unknown messages were displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the vehicle would not exceed 45 MPH. The warning lights remained illuminated while driving. The contact stated that when the warning lights turned off, the vehicle responded as needed while driving. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred intermittently. The contact stated that the failure then became more frequently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
I have 2017 Honda CRV, approximately 65,000 miles, the issue is warning lights keep showing all the messages possible in the dashboard. Tried to reset or reboot, it temporarily disappear then come back again. Brought to the authorized Honda dealership, on their diagnostic, Honda said it is Fuel Injector issue, which is hard to believed for that amount millage, the other issue is the cost to replace 4 fuel injectors of at least $1400. Search in internet that this is common problem to CRV, and also other model. The issue should be recall by Honda since this is happening to most CRV models, I'm just disappointed that when you heard that Honda is a reliable car manufacturer, and cannot fixed multiple warning lights problem, and Honda said it is fuel injector problem, which you think is a software problem is just concerning to other new buyers, I wish new buyers would see this complaints, so they don't have the same problem we are dealing now.
The car is suddenly braking at random times and has come close to causing me to be rear ended a few times.
The push button knob on the gear shift broke when putting the car into reverse, during normal use. This resulted in being unable to use the gear shift to shift gears. This put passengers and pedestrians in danger in a parking lot, as the car was then unable to be shifted into park. When the CRV is unable to be put into park, the engine will not fully turn off. A 29 May 2019 Honda Service Bulletin exists for this problem and is found on NHTSA.gov. There were no warnings or symptoms before the incident occurred.
I was driving about 25mph, nothing in front of me, when the automatic breaking suddenly beeped and engaged — slamming on the breaks. Luckily there was no one behind me or there could have been an accident. I've lost all trust in the system and am now terrified of it, but I cannot disable it permanently.
Was driving down hwy about 60 miles per hour when the car abruptly almost came to a complete stop on its own and the brake light warning flashed up on dashboard display. There were no vehicles on the road ahead of me or, thankfully, behind me. Would have probably went thru windshield if I didn’t have seatbelt on and would have been rear ended if someone had been following me closely. Was extremely shaken up by the incident. Called dealer (Jeff Wyler Honda in Florence, KY)and left a message as got no answer when I called regarding incident. No one from dealership has gotten back with me yet
Fuel Injector Failure in traffic resulting in complete loss of power
While driving at approximately 35 mph with my foot on the gas pedal, the brakes abruptly and forcefully engaged causing my vehicle to come to a complete and abrupt halt. Upon looking at the dash board, the word “brake” was present. There was no oncoming traffic, no intersection present , and a vehicle some distance behind me. Upon contacting Honda online, they shared that there was no open campaign regarding my issue and suggested that I contact the local service department.
Driving along going 30mph, all of a sudden my automatic braking came on and put on my brakes for no reason. I had no one in front of me and it is a good thing nobody was behind me or I would have been in an accident.
My vehicle received a new battery, which resulted in all dash lights coming on and staying on. Dealer advised that fuel injectors need to be replaced. Contacted Honda Corp. after reading that Honda had extended the warranty to cover some CRVs up to 200,000, in which my would had been covered. I do t know why getting new battery would results in lights coming on but no problems until then.
My car brakes itself on my road and it took about 20 minutes of turning it off and back on to get 15 feet to my driveway. My car also started shaking and steering to the right on its own, I had a very difficult time not crashing. while I was on the highway with my 4 year old son in the back seat
VEHICLE'S AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS BY BRAKING WHEN THERE IS NO VEHICLE, PEDESTRIAN, OTHER OBJECT, ETC IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES.
When pressing with my thumb the button to shift to reverse, the button popped out. Upon examining the button, the end was broken off. With much effort, my husband was able to press it in enough to get it in reverse and then forward. He had to leave the car running when he bought the parts at Honda to fix it. He then brought the parts to a local mechanic and he was able to fix it. The mechanic told him that many tiny pieces had to be cleaned out of the section where the button belongs.
for the 3rd time the vehicle's brakes have failed. First time was April of 2021 when the brakes failed and the car went backwards and did not stop and knocked over my mailbox and went into the road. I then put the car in drive and went forward and had to put the gear in Park quickly. I had the Honda dealership examine the car and found no problem. The same problem occurred earlier this year when I backed up and the brakes failed the same way. This time I went into the street. I had the car towed to Honda dealership and they found nothing wrong. Last Wednesday I was slowly pulling into a car space when at a low speed the brakes failed and slammed into a client's building. Damage occurred to their building. I am waiting for the dealership to examine the car Wednesday Nov 2. I am afraid to drive the car.
While driving approximately 40mhp on a city road, without anything in close proximity in front of me, the Automatic Emergency Braking engaged for no reason, causing the car to slow down dramatically. No accident occurred, but this put me at high risk of being rear-ended. On at least 3 previous occasions, while driving on the highway (approx 65mph) the system has flashed the "Brake Now" warning when there was no need to actually brake, though in those circumstances the actual breaks were not engaged, it did startle me to start to break without reason, again causing increased risk for causing an accident.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15-18 MPH, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The failure caused another vehicle to rear-end his vehicle. No injuries were sustained and no medical attention was received. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. No police report was filed. The contact was able to drive away from the scene of the collision. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to the automatic emergency braking feature; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The automatic gear shift button completely broke off cant shift into any gear we bought it used and you can tell whoever had it before us or the dealership glued the button back so it worked for awhile
The issue was reported on 08OCT2022 to a Phil Hughes Honda. The vehicle was brought into the Phil Hughes on 13OCT2022 due to all the lights on the dash were lit up but was drivable to the dealer. Prior to completing the Service Bulletin 19-032, Phil Hughes Honda diagnosed with P0301 (Cylinder 1) misfiring and P0172 (fuel system too rich). The lead service tech has already mentioned the root cause is the fuel injectors causing the misfire and fuel system too rich. I had the vehicle for less than one day after the completion of the service bulleting 09-032. There was lost of power on the road on three (3) different occasions. Loss of power means the vehicle went into "limp" mode during normal road driving and dropped acceleration from normal speed 60mph to ~20mph and continued to decelerate to about ~10mph. The vehicle was pulled over, turned off for about 5 minutes, and turned back on with all the warning lights remaining lit. All the warning lights remain on and was diagnosed again by Phil Hughes Honda and, this time, they got more codes. But, this time there were misfires with Cylinder 1, 2, 3 AND 4 which would be codes P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, and P0172 fuel system too rich. Again, the root cause has been diagnosed to be the fuel injectors. Case # [XXX] is open Honda of America has been contacted and Case # [XXX]. Honda of America classifies fuel injectors as an emissions part which is hard to believe as fuel in delivered to the engine which the engine is part of the power train. Honda Service Bulletin 19-032 says the POSSIBLE CAUSE is "Based on certain driving patterns and environmental factors, the DTC's state above may set or whirling noise may occur). This is not true and the true root cause is fuel injectors. This is a HIGH RISK that is waiting to occur and there could have been a FATALITY as the vehicle dropped in deceleration in the middle of the street and someone could have gotten rear-ended and killed. In late summer of 2022 I had a visual warning "BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE" while I was driving on a highway. There were no cars in front of me for at least several hundred yards. This was distracting to me as the driver, but fortunately there was nothing that required my attention at the time. Over the ensuing weeks this happened several more times, always on a highway at highway speed. At first I thought it might be reacting to a sharp shadow from an over pass, but it happened on overcast days as well as sunny days. It did not happen at night. The frequency of these visual alerts gradually increased until October 8, 2022, when the visual warning flashed and the brakes were applied by the automatic braking system. Again, there were no cars ahead of mine. If a car had been tailgating me, it would probably have caused an accident. I took it to the dealer the next day, and after interrogating the computer, they determined that no fault was recorded. Privately, I was told that this was a known issue, but it could take up to a year for the software patch to be released, and in the meantime there was no recourse. I sold the car back to the dealer that day, purchasing another car that they had on the lot, because I felt that the vehicle was unsafe and I was unwilling to drive it any longer.
In August 2022, I started my car and all indicators on the dash were lit. I took the car to the Honda dealership and they explained it was an oil dilution issue which was covered by Honda's extended warranty. Three weeks later after the repair, I started my car and all indicators on the dash were lit again. I took it back to the dealership and they diagnosed a problem with the fuel injectors. The service person that it was not covered under the warranty or a recall, but that they had noticed other CR-V owners experiencing the same issue. I had to have my fuel injectors replaced which cost me $1,491.76. It appears that the fuel injector issue is present on the Pilot, Ridgeline, and Odyssey vehicles manufactured around the same time as my CR-V, but a recall has not been issued. I filed a complaint with Honda to which they replied there was nothing they could do unless the problem was reported and investigated (by whom was unclear). The complaint has been archived by Honda but can be reopened should a recall be issued.
Fuel injectors failed at 45k miles, resulting in PO304 and PO172. Engine dies at speed causing the vehicle to stop and requires a restart to resume acceleration. Problem is intermittent and happens without notice. Dealer confirmed failed fuel injectors. Vehicle stops enters limp mode (0% power, does not respond to accelerator input) at random speeds. vehicle needs full stop and restart to resume driving. Yes, Dealer confirmed fuel injectors are faulty and suggests this is fairly common with this model CRV Yes, Honda will replace the injectors. Suggest the failure is common but not covered under warranty or goodwill repair All dashboard warning lights (Brake System Failure, Parking Brake Failure, Traction Control, Power Steering, Lane Keeping, Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Etc.)
My CRV turns on the emergency braking warning visible on my dash. There is no reason why it should be doing this. It is random. So far the car has not slammed on my brakes it's just giving me the warnings. I have never been in a situation that required emergency braking. Although I have had multiple events I just found this website and used today's date.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the collision avoidance system suddenly activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact indicated that no other vehicles or objects were nearby to cause the collision avoidance system to activate. During the incident, the contact sustained injuries to both shoulders and head and neck injuries. No medical treatment was required. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 64,000.
Driving in my neighborhood there is construction work being done, where metal plates have been placed in the road. When driving over these metal plates, I begin to lightly apply brakes as to slow down driving over these metal plates. The Automatic Braking System alerts me to BRAKE in the Notification Center of my dashboard & automatically applies the brakes to a complete stop. This has happened twice now, in the same place of my neighborhood resulting in my seatbelt tightening & the car to jolt myself forward. Eventually this will result in an accident if there is a car traveling behind me the next time I go over these metal plates. This problem has been reported my numerous other drivers of 2016-2020 Honda Vehicles and is currently under investigation. After my research, it has become clear to me that when vehicles are taken to dealerships after these incidents they are returned without any indication of problems with the vehicles. I have a small child and often travel with my dog, unrestrained in my vehicle as most pet owners do and am concerned that if they are in the vehicle the next time this happens & there just so happens to be a car behind me, one or all of us would be hurt. Because Honda is taking its time to address this problem, and issue a recall the dealerships will do nothing about it until that point.
My vehicle braked hard on its own as I approached a metal pot hole cover in the street. It also flashes a BRAKE warning when I cross over shadows, such as from an overpass.
On Monday, September 12, 2022, while driving approximately 40 mph on a city street, my 2017 Honda CR V suddenly, and on its own, began breaking violently. My vehicle went from 40 mph to 15 mph in a noticeably brief period. A very frightful experience. My wife, who was sitting in the right front passenger seat, and myself were jolted forward. Luckily, there were no vehicles behind me, nor were any vehicles in front of me during this time. I immediately pulled off the street. I shut off the ignition and sat for a few minutes before continuing to my home, approximately two miles away. There was no advanced warning from the vehicle's information system. I called the local Honda dealer and made an appointment to have the vehicle checked. I explained the problem to the Honda service personnel. I was informed that this was a problem known to Honda and I would be notified when a recall notice was issued. In the interim. I was told to disengage the collision mitigation system every time I start the vehicle.
I was driving at approximately 10 to 15 mph down a one-way street and without warning my automatic brake system engaged while simultaneously sounding the beep. It brought the car to a jerking halt however, there was nothing in the way, no vehicle no pedestrian and no objects.
