TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND WAS DETECTED AND HE BECAME AWARE THAT THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED WITHOUT AN IMPACT. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUPERIOR COLLISION SHOP FOR THE REPAIR OF THE SUNROOF. THE CONTACT CALLED SERRA HONDA BRIGHTON (8294 GRAND RIVER AVE, BRIGHTON, MI 48114) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
WHILE DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE, DRIVING SLOW AS I WAS IN MY SUBDIVISION MY VEHICLE STARTED JERKING, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING REPEATEDLY. I NOTICED A BAD ODOR. I WAS ONLY A MINUTE OR SO FROM HOME AND DRIVING SLOWLY, MAYBE 10 OR 15 MPH. THE SPUTTERING, JERKING AND FLASHING ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. I GOT HALF WAY UP MY DRIVEWAY AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING SO I STOPPED AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. A STRONG BURNING SMELL CONTINUED AND I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST PIPE.
ON THREE OCCASIONS I HAVE RETURNED TO MY PARKED CAR WHICH WAS LOCKED AND HAD ALL THE WINDOWS AND POWER SUNROOF CLOSED WHEN I LEFT IT, TO FIND ALL FOUR WINDOWS HALF WAY DOWN AND THE POWER SUNROOF THREE INCHES OPEN. ON TWO OF THESE OCCASIONS IT HAD RAINED BEFORE OR WAS BEGINNING TO RAIN UPON MY RETURN TO THE CAR AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE OCCURRED IF THE RAIN STORM HAD BEEN WORSE. THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED, MY CAR WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT AND THIS MALFUNCTION CREATED A SAFETY AND SECURITY RISK FOR MY FAMILY AND PROPERTY. THE HONDA CR-V MANUAL INDICATES THAT THERE IS A "FEATURE" WHERE IF A PERSON PRESSES THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB ONCE AND THEN PRESSES IT AGAIN AND HOLDS IT FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 SECONDS, ALL THE WINDOWS WILL BE LOWERED HALF WAY AND PARTIALLY OPENS THE SUNROOF. MY KEY FOB HOWEVER WAS NOT IN A PLACE WHERE THE UNLOCK BUTTON COULD BE PUSHED TWICE IN THIS PATTERN AND THESE INSTANCES WERE NOT DUE TO OPERATOR ERRORS. HONDA CURRENTLY DENIES KNOWLEDGE OF ANY SUCH ISSUE IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT MY WEB SEARCH FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHER CR-V AND CERTAIN ACURA OWNERS ABOUT EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SAYS UNLESS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM THEY ARE ADVISED BY AMERICAN HONDA THE PROBLEM DOES NOT EXIST AND THEY CANNOT FILE ANYTHING WITH HONDA AMERICA REGARDING THE ISSUE. SINCE THIS IS A LOW OCCURRENCE RATE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, CUSTOMERS WILL FRUITLESSLY PAY HONDA TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION OF IT UNLESS HONDA IS FORCED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND ADDRESS IT BY THE NHTSA. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST YOU DO WHATEVER IS IN YOUR POWER TO MAKE HONDA RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS AT A MINIMUM, AN UNLOCKED VEHICLE ALLOWS FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRIMINAL GAINING ACCESS AND BEING PRESENT INSIDE THE CAR WHEN THE OWNER RETURNS.
AFTER LEAVING OUT OF CAR WASH I PARKED THE CAR TO VACUUM. LEFT THE CAR RUNNING IN PARK AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. CAR STILL DRIVES NORMALLY.
I WAS ON HIGHWAY I35 HEADING TO DALLAS DRIVING 70MPH. SUDDENLY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF 18 WHEELERS AND OTHER TRAFFIC ZOOMING BY ME HONKING DUE TO MY SPEED DRASTICALLY DROPPING. I HAD TO COAST ACROSS 3 LANES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS TERRIFIED I WAS GOING TO GET SLAM INTO BY ONE OF THE MANY SEMI-TRUCKS. IT WAS TERRIFYING. CALLED AND HAD MY CAR TOWED. CLEO BAY HONDA (KILEEN, TX) SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE OF ONE OF THE FUEL INJECTORS. WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I GOT BACK ON THE FREEWAY TO HEAD BACK TO GEORGETOWN AND THE SAMETHING HAPPENED AGAIN. I AGAIN WAS FORCED TO CROSS 2-3 LANES BY COASTING TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THEY NOW ARE GOING TO REPLACE ALL 4 FUEL INJECTORS, BUT I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR'S SAFETY. I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE IT ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN, FEARING THE 3RD TIME I WILL BE KILLED. I DODGED TWO BULLETS WITH THIS CAR, WHY SHOULD I BE FORCED TO DODGE ANYMORE? VERY SCARY! THIS CAR WAS PROGRAMED TO SHUT DOWN WHEN A MISFIRE OCCURS BUT THEY FAIL TO CONSIDER WHERE THE DRIVER MIGHT BE WHEN IT HAPPENS. TWICE IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ON A BUSY FREEWAY AND I LOST ALL SPEED WITH CARS/SEMI-TRUCKS GOING 70-75MPH PAST ME AND I AM FORCED TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE FEAR THAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME WAS STILL FRIGHTENING AND TO HAVE IT HAPPEN A SECOND TIME WAS TERRIFYING AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE ANYMORE DRIVING IT. IF NOT ME SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECT!
OUR 2018 HONDA CRV HAS A DEAD BATTERY AT 21,000 MILES. ON THE INTERNET, I SEE MANY OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS BATTERY LOSING CHARGE. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM? WE WERE LUCKY, AS THE CRV BATTERY DIED IN OUR GARAGE. BUT, IT COULD HAVE DIED IN A LESS FRIENDLY LOCATION. FROM WHAT I READ, THIS BATTERY IS PRONE TO PARASITIC CURRENT LOSS AT ANY TIME. THANK YOU. Three years into owning the vehicle the spark plugs were misfiring. When replacing them finding the ceramic part of the plugs were cracking. I replaced all plugs and coils and was good for only about six months. Same thing happened and progressively got worse and in shorter time between all the mis firing codes and engine stumbling and not driving over twenty mile per hour. Now I am at a point where it has become a monthly issue and have been through approximately thirty replaced spark plugs and on the third set of ignition coils. Apparently there is an extended warranty for this issue and for the past visits the dealership says they fixed the recalls and don’t see any other issues. I am taking it to the dealership again and getting it in writing this time. I want the company to fix the resin for the spark plugs consistently misfiring and address why is it progressively getting worse. I find it funny Honda recognizes something is coursing this by extending the warranty and making it unlimited miles to cover the coast of the repairs stated in the letter of these problems but haven’t stated or fixed what’s causing it. I will follow up with the next visit to the dealership with any results. I do believe this is a dated issue for the fact that is been a number of time where the all the dates features on the vehicle shut down and engine stops accelerating at times I was traveling on highways at highway speeds as well as in traffic. When adjusting steering, the vehicle acts as if thw steering wheel is stuck. After applying increased force, the steering wheel will break free, cause the vehicle to swerve at high speeds. This problem has been reproduced by a shop and a professional service technician. When Honda dealership was questioned about it, they revealed a recall for very specific group of 2018-19 CRVs that had an issue with the torque sensor magnets becoming dislodged or unaligned. I believe this issue has inpacted this vehicle in addition to the others, because the technicians could not find any other faults within the vehicle steering system. No warnings or lights illuminated on dash either.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 9 MPH before the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved DTC: P0087 (High-Pressure Fuel Pump failure). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was called, but there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT LOW SPEEED < 20 MPH.
I HAVE A 2018 HONDA CRV EX. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING AT TIMES, AND AT OTHER TIMES, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. AT TIMES IT DRIVES FINE WHILE ONE OR ALL THESE LIGHTS ARE ON, BUT TWICE WHEN I WAS DRIVING 30-40 MPH, I HAVE LOST POWER, HAVING TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
2018 HONDA CRV TOURING PURCHASE SEPTEMBER 8, 2018. CURRENTLY HAS 16,400 MILES. ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, I WENT OUT TO START MY HONDA CRV TOURING IN THE GARAGE. IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED THE HELPLINE TO HAVE A TOWING COMPANY COME TO TAKE THE CAR TO BOB BRADY HONDA DEALERSHIP IN DECATUR ILLINOIS. I CALLED BOB BRADY HONDA SERVICE CENTER THEY TOLD ME TO JUST HAVE THE TOWING COMPANY JUMPSTART MY CAR AND DRIVE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NOTE, THE TOWING COMPANY DRIVER INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS ABOUT THE 13TH HONDA 2018 2020 THAT HE HAS HAD TO JUMPSTART. SOME OF THE VEHICLES HE'S HAD TO REVISIT TO JUMPSTART. I DIDN'T DRIVE THE CAR AFTER COMING HOME THE REST OF THE DAY ON THURSDAY. THE CAR STARTED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, AT 11:30 AM. THE HONDA STARTED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18 AT 3:30 PM. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, THE CAR STARTED AT 10:00 AM. THAT SAME DAY THE CAR STARTED AT 1:00 PM. ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13, I WENT OUT TO TRY TO START MY CAR AT 7:00 AM. MY CAR WOULD NOT START! IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY WILL NOT JUST FLIP OUT THE BATTERY UNTIL THEY FIRST TRY TO CHARGE IT AGAIN TO SEE IF THAT HELPS THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 14, 2020 AND I AM GOING TO CALL THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED IN TODAY FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OF THE BATTERY BEING DEAD! BOTH TIMES THAT THE CAR BATTERY DIED AS WELL IT WAS SITTING IN MY HEATED GARAGE. I'M NOT ABLE TO TAKE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS ON A DEAD BATTERY. BUT, I HAVE MADE A VIDEO OF EXACTLY HOW THE PROCEDURE TAKES PLACE WHEN I HAVE TRIED TO START MY CAR IN THE GARAGE.
WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. A FEW DAYS AFTER RESETTING THE COMPUTER, THIS RECURRED. IN ONE OCCASION, ENGINE POWER WENT TO A MINIMUM (10 MPH ON A LEVEL ROAD) WHILE DRIVING. PARKING BRAKES ENGAGED LIGHTS FLASHING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND WAS REPORTED BY OTHERS (HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T76546_DS1113654). HONDA DEALER ADMITTED THEY SAW THIS WITH OTHERS BUT NEITHER THEY NOR CORPORATE HONDA WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT PULLING TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY ROAD THINKING THERE WERE ENGINE PROBLEMS. MY CAR BATTERY IS QUITE NEW AND HAS BEEN CHECKED BEFORE THIS ISSUE HAPPENED SO THIS IS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE. THE REPORTED DATE IS THE LATEST - THIS HAS RECURRED ABOUT 4 TIMES NOW.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT STARTED TO LIGHTLY RAIN AND I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING ERROR ON MY DASHBOARD "SOME DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEMS CANNOT OPERATE : RADAR OBSTRUCTED" AND MY TRUCK STARTED TO BRAKE BY ITSELF. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING OBSTRUCTING THE SENSORS. THE ERROR STAYED ON UNTIL I GOT HOME AND PARKED MY TRUCK.
ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO DRIVE. THE PROBLEM LIGHTS ALL APPEARED AS DRIVING: STEERING, TIRE PRESSURE, EMERGENCY BRAKE, ENGINE. THE CAR STALLED AS DRIVING AND STEERING WAS MADE DIFFICULT, DID THE DER DER DER NOISES. I FELT ENDANGERED WITH MY CHILDREN AND PUPPY IN THE VEHICLE.
HAVE ISSUES SOMETIMES THE ON BOARD RADIO, DIMMING LIGHT ON DISPLAY ETC WILL GO CRAZY FLIPPING FROM BRIGHT TO DARK. CANT USE ANY CONTROLS LIKE NAVIGATION, GPS, USE RADIO AND IT'S HAPPENED MAYBE 6 TIMES. HAVE TO SHUT OFF ENGINE THEN RESTART THEN IT SEEMS TO TAKE CARE OF ISSUE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET UNDER REPAIRING WITH STEEL PLATES PUTTING ON STREET. WHILE MY CAR JUST ABOUT 15 FEET FROM A BIG STEEL A PLATE (1 INCH ABOVE GROUND) , SPEEDING 30 MILES. SUDDENLY, IT BRAKED SO HARD, LEFT SKIDS ON STREET AND STOP RIGHT ON THE STREET AND THEN IT RELEASED BRAKE. LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND WAS FAR AWAY; THEREFORE NO COLLISION FROM THE BACK
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED REPEATEDLY. THEY RESET WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.THIS HAPPENED ALREADY FOUR TIMES, AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT COULD BECOME WORSE, AND CAUSE A MORE SERIOUS OUTCOME.
THE CLOSED SUNROOF OF MY 2018 CR-V HONDA, EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH ON A CLOUDY 57 DEGREE EVENING ABOUT 5:00PM 10/26/2020. LOUD AND SCARY SOUND, THOUGHT MAYBE GUNSHOT, BUT NO! I WAS NOWHERE NEAR OVERPASSES OR OTHER VEHICLES! NOTHING HIT MY SUNROOF! GLASS DEFECT?
APPARENTLY DEFECTIVE TIRE WITH TREAD/BELT SEPARATION WHICH RESULTED IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON US23 NORTHBOUND AT POSTED SPEED. SHE FELT WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS MINOR TIRE UNBALANCE, BUT SUDDENLY THE TIRE LOST AIR PRESSURE AND SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD THE SPARE TIRE MOUNTED. THE NEXT DAY, I HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED FOR SAFETY SINCE THEY HAD MODERATE TREAD WEAR AT 50,000 MILES AND WE ARE GOING INTO WINTER. I KEPT THE DEFECTIVE BRIDGESTONE TIRE.
THE CAR BRAKED AND STOPPED SUDDENLY AND COMPLETELY IN FRONT OF A A SPEEDBUMP ON A A BRIDGE. THE LAST ONE WAS ON OCTOBER 2, 2020. IN ALL THREE CASES IT WAS EITHER EARLY EVENING (6:30 PM, NO RAIN OR FOUL WEATHER) OR AT LATER AT NIGHT ( AROUND 10:00 PM, ONE TIME WAS RAINING, THE OTHER CASE IT WAS CLEAR). I ALL E THREE CASES I WAS DRIVING WITH SPEEDS OF 10-15 MILES/HR AND THERE WAS NOT A CAR CLOSE IN FRONT OF ME NEAR ME. AFTER THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS THIS IS AN ASSISTING SYSTEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY F MY FAMILY.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I WAS PARKING MY CRV AND ALL OF MY DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. MY CRUISE. LANE KEEP ASSIST OTHER FEATURES ARE COMPLETELY DISABLED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. MY DEALERSHIP STATES I NEED FUEL INJECTORS. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM, AND HONDA IS VERY AWARE OF THIS FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. THEY ACTUALLY PUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN PLACE ON THE POWERTRAIN TO REMEDY THIS . UNFORTUNATELY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER FUEL INJECTORS.ON ONE OCCASION. NOV. 3 2020, MY CAR STALLED WHILE GOING 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTERWARDS I SMELLED A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY CAR. I HAVE SMELLED THIS ODOR SEVERAL TIMES, HOWEVER HONDA SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I BOUGHT THE CAR JAN. 2020. IT HAD 89K MILES ON IT. I DID NOT THINK THIS NEW CAR WOULD NEED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. SO HONDA WANTS OVER $1100 TO PUT FUEL INJECTORS IN. I HAVE READ ONLINE ABOUT THE MANY ISSUES WITH THE 2017 AND 2018 CRVS. THE DREAM MOTOR IS A PROBLEM AND HONDA KNOWS IT. I GUESS IT WILL TAKE SOMEONE DYING BEFORE ANYONE WILL PAY ME ANY ATTENTION. HONDA SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM THEREFORE I AM ASSUMING IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE, AS I HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR. I AM A NURSE AND TRAVEL ON MY JOB. I HAVE NO CRUISE, LANE KEEP ASSIST, LANE STABILITY OR ANY OF THOSE FEATURES. I DONT KNOW HOW THIS CAR WILL PASS INSPECTION LIKE THIS. PLEASE HELP ME. 2 PROBLEMS, WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING, AUDIO DISPLAY PANEL GLICTHES IN/OUT, BRIGHTNESS GOES FROM BRIGHT TO DIM TO COMPLETELY BLACKED OUT DISPLAY WITHOUT BEING TOUCHED. GLITCHES OUT LIKE THAT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE AND CANNOT USE YOUR AUDIO DISPLAY/RADIO NOTHING. WHILE STATIONARY CAR WOULD NOT START. WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO START CAR DISPLAY SAYS BRAKE PROBLEM, AND THEN PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM, NO AUDIO DISPLAY LIGHTS UP NOTHING, ENGINE START BUTTON BLINKS RED AND CAR GOES OFF COMPLETELY, SMELLED GAS DURING THIS ATTEMPT TO START CAR. JUMPED STARTED THE CAR TOOK IT TO LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO CHECK CAR BATTERY, BATTERY HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH CHARGE. ATTACHED PICS AND VIDEO.
My vehicle randomly slams on the brakes without the driver touching the brake pedal. My vehicle automatically applies the brakes without any vehicle stopping in front of it or a pedestrian in the vehicle’s path. It happened a couple of times, fortunately, it did not culminate into a crash so far. I took my vehicle to the dealership after these incidents, they explained to me that the sensor was loose. But I am not convinced that they fixed the problem. I am afraid that this may happen in the future unless Honda comes up with a permanent fix. I can deactivate this feature, but once I turn the vehicle off and turn it back on it gets activated again. Please look into this matter seriously before it turns catastrophic. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND AND I WAS DRIVING 75MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE GAS PEDAL. NOTHING WAS AROUND TO TRIGGER THE SENSOR, YET THE AEB WENT INTO FULL EFFECT. THE CAR BEEPED, FLASHED THE BRAKE SIGN ON THE DASHBOARD AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVIATED ITSELF AS I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH. THIS OCCURED 2XS AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS/MONTHS. YES IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? CAR ABRUBTLY STOPPED CAUSING SEATBELT TO PULL ON ME WHEN DRIVING. I WAS THE ONLY PASSENGER WHEN THIS HAPPENED HOWEVER IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME AT THE TIME, I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND IN A BUILDING, A BYSTANDER NOTICED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLLBACK IN REVERS INDEPENDENTLY AND THE BYSTANDER NOTICED THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TROY HONDA, 1835 MAPLELAWN DR, TROY, MI 48084, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE IT NORMALLY WOULD ROLLBACK IF IT WAS INCLINE. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN A INCLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the collision mitigation sensor was malfunctioning. The Forward Collision-Avoidance Automatic Braking would inadvertently activate without a vehicle in proximity and the vehicle would stop. The contact would depress the brake pedal and then the accelerator pedal and the vehicle would operate as designed. The failure occurred at various speeds. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the failure might be due to dirt covering the sensor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 27,183.
I KEEP SMELLING GASOLINE AND HAVING TO GET OIL CHANGES WELL BEFORE 5,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THAT GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE. I FEAR THAT THE ENGINE IS GOING TO GIVE OUT SOON.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS (FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, ETC.) BEGIN FLASHING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND ENGINE TURNED OFF FOR A BRIEF PERIOD AND THEN RESTARTED THE DASH DISPLAY RETURNS TO NORMAL WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS CORRECTLY WORKING AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES.
The brake warning system beeped and forcefully applied the brakes when I was driving approximately 30mph. The only "obstacle" was a flat steel plate on the road. Thankfully no one was behind me. Everything in my car slide forward and off the seats due to the force of the braking. I also regularly get the beep warning when I am driving up a steep hill near where I live. Thankfully the brakes do not engage. I never had anything inspected. I also get beeping when backing up with nothing in the way. And recently backed into a truck bumper and there was no beeping. I just assume that the systems are irritating and don't work properly.
I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE I PULLED UP AND PARKED REACHED OVER TO GET A MASK OUT AND THE CHIME WENT OFF. SO I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND FOUND THAT THE DISPLAY WAS SAYING POWER STEERING WAS DISABLE THEN THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL THEN THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR THEN THE ENGINE THEN THE BRAKES AND IT JUST KEEPS CHIMING IN DISPLAYING EACH MESSAGE FOR ALL LISTED ABOVE. I RESTARTED THE CAR HOPING IT WOULD CLEAR THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT. HOPE THE WARRANTY COVERS IT AND TOWING.
ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON FOR MY VEHICLE INDICATING THAT I HAVE PROBLEM IN ALL AREAS OF THE CAR. THIS IS A 2018 HONDA CRV. THIS CAR IS 2 YEARS OLD AND THE RELAY MODULE IS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS CAR IS TOO YOUNG TO BE MALFUNCTIONING AT THIS POINT. BECAUSE I AM AT 37,000 MILES, HONDA IS TELLING ME THAT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY OF THE CAR AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE RELAY MODULE WHICH IS A MAJOR EXPENSE. AGAIN THIS CAR IS TOO YOUNG TO BE MALFUNCTIONING. HONDA NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS CAR OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS IN FORWARD MOTION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. SYMPTOMS ARE INDICATIVE OF AN ABNORMAL OIL DILUTION PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN TOWN ON A CLEAR DAY APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH WHEN THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED AND STOPPED THE CAR. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR BEHIND ME (LUCKILY ESCAPING BEING REAR ENDED). THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME THAT WARRANTED THIS SYSTEM ENGAGING.
DRIVING 35MPH ON MAIN ROAD BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY FUNCTIONED. NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME. PASSENGERS LURCHED FORWARD.
ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2020 I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED HONDA CRV FROM HONDA OF JOLIET. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS, I NOTICED THIS SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE. TO BE SURE, I HAD MY BROTHER IN LAW DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HE MENTIONED THAT THERE MAY BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WHEEL BEARING OR THE BRAKES. ON MONDAY, AUGUST 31, I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR SERVICE. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I HAD NEW BRIDGESTONE TIRES. I WAS CONFUSED AND STEVE COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE SERVICE DEPT. RECOMMENDED NEW TIRES. I GO TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE TIRES WERE DIFFERENT. THE BRAND WAS ADVANTA TIRES. LOOKING ONLINE CONSUMER REPORTS FOUND THE ADVANTA HAD AN AVERAGE TREAD LIFE OF 44,500 MILES COMPARED WITH AN AVERAGE OF 71,000 MILES FOR ALL THE TIRES. IN ADDITION, THESE TIRES HAVE POOR PERFORMANCE IN WINTER CONDITIONS. AFTER SURVEYING THE DEALER LOT, I AM VERY CONFUSED AS TO WHY THESE TIRES WERE CHOSEN AS THE OTHER VEHICLES ALL HAVE BETTER TIRES (E.G. CONTINENTAL, BRIDGESTONE, AND MICHELIN). PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS. EVEN MORE FRUSTRATING, MY VEHICLE NOW DRIVES WORSE THAN BEFORE..ON FRIDAY, I EMAILED THE OWNERS OF THE DEALERSHIP, MIKE, HORST, AND RICK KORALLUS. OF THE THREE, MIKE KORALLUS RESPONDED AND GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. TODAY, THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP BY SERVICE. AFTER WORK I DROVE BACK TO JOLIET TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, HOPING THE TIRES HAD BEEN ORDERED AND REPLACED AND THE NOISE FIXED. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AND JAVIER ONCE AGAIN GAVE ME AN INADEQUATE EXPLANATION. THERE IS NO WAY THESE TIRES ARE MAKING IT THROUGH THE WINTER. NOW, I MUST MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH A DIFFERENT DEALER TO MAKE SURE THAT MY INITIAL ISSUE IS RESOLVED. IN FURTHER RESEARCH, NO OTHER TIRE RETAILER INCLUDING WALMART CARRIES THESE TIRES.
ON 8-24-2020, THE 4 WINDOWS AND SUNROOF OPENED SPONTANEOUSLY. NO ON IN CAR OR NEAR CAR WITH KEY FOB (WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WINDOWS AND SUNROOF).
I WAS DRIVING 40MPH ON A CITY STREET IT WAS A SUNNY 83 DEGREE DAY WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME WHEN MY CRV SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BY ITSELF. THE SPEEDOMETER TURNED ORANGE AND SAID "BRAKE". THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM FALSELY DETECTED SOMETHING IN FRONT OF ME WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING. WE JERKED TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE BEHIND ALMOST HITTING US. MY SON, DOG, AND I WERE EXTREMELY SCARED. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE SENSOR WAS A LITTLE OFF BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY OTHER REASON THAT THE CMBS WOULD MALFUNCTION? I'VE READ ONLINE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE ISSUE WITH 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CRV'S EQUIPPED WITH THIS FEATURE AND HONDA HAS NOT DONE A RECALL BUT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OUT OF CALIFORNIA.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. Triple A was contacted and replaced the battery. Additionally, the contact stated that the infotainment system screen had turned off intermittently while driving. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the infotainment system became operable. The contact stated that upon inspecting the battery, Triple A informed the contact that the battery was significantly corroded, and the battery was replaced. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH to the dealer, the infotainment system screen turned off. The contact pulled into the dealer's parking lot. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to shift into gears and was undrivable. The dealer diagnosed that the battery terminals were faulty, causing a system communication failure and battery drainage. The dealer replaced the battery. The vehicle was temporarily repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,419.
2018 PARKED HONDA CRV - BACK WINDOW SHATTER WHILE CAR STATIONARY
WAS PACKING MY CR V AND NOTICED VERY TINY RUST SPOTS ALL OVER THE TAILGATE. THEN WHEN OPENING THE TAILGATE NOTICED 3 BIGGER RUST SPOTS. I CALLED HONDA 104 WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME TOO BAD.
THIS THE THIRD INCIDENT, WHERE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR LOST POWER, STALLED, SHUT DOWN, AND ALL THE SENSORS ON THE VEHICLE WENT OFF. THE VACAVILLE HONDA DEALERSHIP ON THE SECOND TIME REFUSE TO DOCUMENT MY ISSUE OR LOOK AT THE BATTERY WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR A SERVICE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I FEEL REALLY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND VACAVILLE HONDA HAS A HISTORY OF NOT DOCUMENTING MY CONCERNS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND I CAME TO A STOP SIGN WHERE I TURNED RIGHT AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS. THE CAR TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED ON AND ALL THE SENSORS CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR ROLLING BY GOING DOWN HILL GOING ABOUT 2 MPH, EVEN THOUGH THE SPEEDOMETER SAID 16 MPH. THERE WAS NOT WAY I WAS GOING AT THAT SPEED. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED LOCALLY TO ANOTHER HONDA WHERE I LIVED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME WHY ALL THE SENSORS WENT OFF.

I PARKED MY CAR IN MY GARAGE WITH HALF A TANK OF GAS ON SUNDAY. ON WEDNESDAY I WENT TO START MY CAR TO NO AVAIL. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMP START MY VEHICLE. THIS WORKED, HOWEVER MY GAS WAS NOW ON EMPTY. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN LOCKED, NO LIGHTS ON IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE FOR 3 DAYS. I HAVE ONLY USED IT FOR SHORT DRIVES SINCE MARCH DUE TO COVID-19.
2018 CR-V (~38,200 MILES) UNEXPECTEDLY HALTED (LOSS OF POWER - ENGINE KEPT RUNNING) GOING ~35 MPH ON LAKEVILLE HWY/116 IN BUSY TRAFFIC AND SHOWED ENGINE/EMISSIONS CHECK LIGHT AND OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. TOWED TO DEALER WHERE DIAGNOSTIC CODES P061B ECM/PCM INTERNAL MALFUNCTION (TORGUE CALCULATION), C1870-00, U0401-68, U3003-S6 WERE SEEN. PER AMERICAN HONDA MOTORS (AHM), DEALER WAS TO CLEAR CODES AND TRY AND REPLICATE MALFUNCTION WHICH THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO HAVING DRIVEN IT 60 MILES. AHM WOULD NOT REPLACE ECM/PCM AS DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE. I HAD SAFETY CONCERN SO AFTER SPEAKING WITH LEAD SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT DEALER PAID $~441 TO HAVE ECM/PCM REPLACED. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH NOTHING BEING DONE. I BELIEVE THAT SUCH CODES SHOULD MANDATE CAR COMPANY TO ENSURE SAFETY OF OWNER WITH PAID REPLACEMENT OF FAULTY PART. I HOPE OTHERS HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS, NOT REPLACED THE PART AND SUBSEQUENTLY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM FAILURE AND THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU, THE VEHICLE STARTED BUZZING AND THE DISPLAY SCREEN BLACKED OUT AND STARTED BUFFERING. AFTER LEAVING THE DRIVE THRU, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE DEFECTS RELATED TO THE MESSAGES DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE MECHANIC TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM COLEMAN HONDA (12441 AUTO DR, CLARKSVILLE, MD 21029) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT EXPLANATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,760. *LN CONSUMER SAYS THAT ON 08/22/2020 VEHICLE BRAKED ON ITS ON WHILE EXITING AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH. AFTER THE CAR BRAKED ON ITS OWN, THE CAR STARTED TO WOBBLE AS THOUGH THE WHEELS ARE ABOUT TO UNBUCKLE, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. CONSUMER EXPERIENCED WHIPLASH FROM THE SUDDEN BRAKING. CONSUMER SAYS THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. ON 08/25/2020 CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO JIM COLEMAN HONDA TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. *DL*LN *TR
TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY GOING 65 MPH. NO VEHICLES WERE CLOSE TO ME. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A BOOM. I COULD TELL MY SUNROOF JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WENT ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY. LUCKY THE INSIDE ROOF WAS CLOSED.
Lane departure warning activated when I was trying to change lanes. I believe I forgot to activate directional signal. Car suddenly braked hard and steering wheel jerked severely causing me to lose grip on the wheel. Vehicle was forced back into lane I was leaving. This hasn’t been duplicated because I turned off the lane departure warning system and I haven’t used it since this incident.
THE INFOTAINMENT CENTER GOES BLANK OR STARTS TO CHANGE SCREENS ON ITS OWN. ALSO, IT STARTS TO BEEP AS IT IS DOING THIS AND WON'T STOP. IN ADDITION, THE SYSTEM HAS MADE PHONE CALLS ON ITS OWN. HONDA SAID THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT AS OF JULY 6, 2020, THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX. I HAVE TO STOP THE CAR AND THEN RESTART THE CAR TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM. AS OF THIS WRITING, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND WILL NOT STOP EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN MOTION. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM IN 2019 AND 2020 TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.
