WHILE DRIVING ON A LEVEL STREET AROUND 40 MPH WITH NO CARS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME FOR 6+ CAR LENGTHS, A CAR BEHIND ME, AND CARS NEXT TO ME, THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM TAPPED MY BREAKS AND ISSUED WARNINGS ON THE DRIVER'S DISPLAY.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2018. ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO, THE BATTERY WAS BAD AND REPLACED BY THE CAR DEALER. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE RETURN HOSE. THE CAR STAY AT DEALER FOR 7 DAYS IN ORDER TO GET THE NEW PART IN. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR AS IT WAS TOO HOT TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE I BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE CAR.
ON MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2020, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM TARGET IN COLLEGE POINT. I WAS DRIVING ON 20TH AVENUE, A TWO-WAY LOCAL STREET, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR BRAKED. THE WHITE VAN BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME TO AVOID REAR-ENDING ME. STEPPED ON THE GAS, AND THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE, THE ENGINE JUST REVVED A LITTLE. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED FORWARD A LITTLE, AND THEN BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN. I MADE A LEFT-HAND TURN AND PULLED OVER TO MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING WAS STUCK IN THE WHEELS, OR UNDER THE CAR. THERE WAS NOTHING. I TOOK IT TO MY REGULAR SERVICE STATION, TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE BRAKES, AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, THAT THEY WERE FINE. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER, AND HAVE THEM CHECK THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKE SYSTEM. THE FIRST TIME I HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS WAS IN AN ACCIDENT I WAS IN 9 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED 8 MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I AM CONCERNED THAT WE WILL BE HAVING BRAKING PROBLEMS EVERY 8-9 MONTHS WITH THE VEHICLE.
WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION MY CR-V WAS T-BONED ON THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR BY A SUPER DUTY LARGE TRUCK TRAVELING APPROX 55-60MPH. THE FRONT SIDE CURTAIN DEPLOYED SAVING MY DAUGHTER. THE IMPACT PUSHED OUR CR-V ACROSS THE INTERSECTION INTO A METAL POWER POLE SUSTAINING A MORE SIGNIFICANT, SECONDARY IMPACT. NEITHER FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED LEAVING MYSELF WITH MULTIPLE SEVERE INJURIES REQUIRING SURGERY AND A WEEK HOSPITALIZATION THERAFTER.
MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE THE KEY FOB WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE VEHICLE, THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF WOULD ROLL DOWN BY THEMSELVES. ONE TIME I HAD TO CRAWL OUT THE BACK OF THE CAR WITH HONDA SERVICE ON THE PHONE AS PROOF BECAUSE EVERY TIME I OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF WOULD GO DOWN. THE PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE WITNESS DENIED IT. EVENTUALLY THE BCM WAS REPLACED. EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS. TODAY WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON, IT APPEARED THAT THE SOFTWARE RESET ITSELF. THE ODOMETER SCREEN SAID IT WAS 1 AM WHEN IT WAS 8:52 AM. IT TOOK SEVERAL RESTARTS FOR THAT SCREEN TO RESET. HOWEVER, THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WOULD NOT RESET. IT STATES "ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM - THIS SYSTEM HAS LOST POWER. PUSH AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON FOR MORE THAN TWO SECONDS TO ENABLE TO SYSTEM." THEN IT KEPT GOING DARK. I TRIED WITH THE CAR POWER BUTTON AND THE RADIO POWER BUTTON. NEITHER RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I RESTARTED THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I FINALLY GOT IT TO RESTART HOURS LATER BY HOLDING DOWN THE RADIO POWER BUTTON. I AM LIMITED TO A SPECIFIC DATE ON THIS FORM, BUT THE WINDOWS/SUNROOF PROBLEMS BEGAN AROUND APRIL/MAY 2020 AND THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN ISSUE IN JUNE 2020. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN MAY/JUNE OF 2019. *TR
A BUNCH OF SENSORS INCLUDING THE RADAR, LANE DEPARTURE, COLLISION DETECTION WAS STOLEN FROM MY 2018 HONDA CRV WITHOUT THE CENTRAL ALARM GETTING TRIGGERED. THE BLACK BOX BELOW THE HONDA LOGO WAS BROKEN, AND THE SENSOR/CONNECTORS WERE PULLED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKING IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE SAFETY SYSTEM (HONDA SENSING) THAT DETECTS A CAR OR PEDESTRIAN IN YOUR PATH AND ENGAGES THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND AUTOMATIC BRAKING MECHANISM WILL SOMETIMES ENGAGE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THERE IS NO OBJECT ANY WHERE NEAR THE CAR. IF THIS ENGAGES THAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING A COLLISION. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN 6 TIMES AND 2 OF THOSE 6 TIMES THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND AND BRAKING OCCURRED. THE OTHER 4 TIMES THE WARNING LIGHT WITH THE BRAKE INDICATOR CAME ON WHICH WAS DISTRACTING.
SAFETY BREAKING FEATURE HAS STOPPED MY CAR 3 TIMES WHEN THERE WAS NO HAZARD IN FRONT OF THE CAR. RESULTED IN NEAR COLLISIONS WITH CARS BEHIND ME DUE TO UNEXPECTED AND ABRUPT STOP OF THE CAR. HAD HAPPENED ON LOCAL ROADS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON CITY STREETS
DRIVING CAR ON SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE A A MISFIRE OCCURRED CAUSING A FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THROTTLE CONTROL WAS DEFEATED BY DESIGN AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN A LANE WITH NO SHOULDER AND SEMI TRUCKS BEHIND ME. WAS ABLE TO CYCLE KEY A FEW TIMES AND THROTTLE CONTROL WAS RESTORED UNTIL CAR MISFIRED AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. TALKED TO LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT WHAT HAPPENED IS BY DESIGN, TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE EVENT OF A MISFIRE..THIS IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND STILL LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING WITH AT LEAST PARTIAL POWER. MANY MANUFACTURERS SIMPLY CUT FUEL DELIVERY TO THE CYLINDER THAT IS MISFIRING, LEAVING YOU LESS POWER BUT STILL SAFE TO DRIVE.. THIS PROBLEM IS A SIMPLE FIX FOR HONDA WITH A REFLASH. THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION WAS CREATED BY A SIMPLE SPARK PLUG ISSUE ON ONE CYLINDER.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY BOULEVARD AT ABOUT 35 MPH, THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLANK. SECONDS LATER, THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED: "ANTI THEFT SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM HAS LOST POWER. PUSH AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON FOR MORE THAN TWO SECONDS TO ENABLE THE SYSTEM." I ASSUMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIRECTING ME TO HOLD THE RADIO POWER BUTTON, SO I DID AND HELD IT FOR TWO SECONDS, BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I THEN PULLED OVER WHEN SAFE, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED FOR 1 MINUTE AND THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON. THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WAS BACK ON TO NORMAL. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JUNE 10, 2020 AND THIS IS A 2018 MODEL. THE BATTERY THAT INITIALLY CAME WITH THE VEHICLE DIED ON FEBRUARY, 2020 AFTER REQUIRING A JUMP START. *TR
I WAS RIDING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, GOING STRAIGHT, NOT ANOTHER CAR, ANIMAL OR STOPLIGHT IN SIGHT AND THE AUTOMATED BRAKING SYSTEM SLAMMED ON BRAKES SO HARD IT BROUGHT ME TO A STOP - IF I HAD NOT HAD A SEATBELT ON IT WOULD HAVE THROWN ME INTO THE WINDSHIELD AND IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN KILLED. NOTHING WAS IN SIGHT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH BUT WHEN I GOOGLE IT I FIND THERE'S A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A DEADLY PROBLEM, WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON A BUSY INTERSTATE HWY? *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 PM ON JUNE 2, 2020 WHILE TRAVELING ON ROUTE 30 WESTBOUND NEAR COATESVILLE, PA AFTER THE ROUTE 82 EXIT THE HONDA CR-V LOST POWER. THE CR-V SLOWED TO UNDER 15 MILES PER HOUR WHILE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC PASSED. I ESTIMATE THAT SOME PASSING VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH. THE CR-V FINALLY MADE IT TO THE AIRPORT ROAD EXIT - A DISTANCE OF NEARLY THREE MILES. NOTE: IN TWO PLACES RT. 30'S NARROW SHOULDER WAS NOT USABLE AND I WAS BRIEFLY FORCED BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY CONTINUING IN THE SLOW LANE. ONCE ON AIRPORT ROAD I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, TURNED OFF THE CR-V AND INSPECTED THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND DROVE TO REEDMAN TOLL HONDA. THE CR-V HAS 35,762 MILES AND HAS BEEN SERVICED AT ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVALS. MY WIFE WAS THE SOLE PASSENGER. I WAS THE DRIVER. THE UNSAFE CONDITION PRESENTED BY THE HONDA CR-V ENDED WITH FRAYED NERVES, BUT NO OTHER INJURY. HOWEVER, THIS IS UNSAFE CONDITION COULD HAVE EASILY HAD A TRAGIC ENDING. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND APPROACHED A GREEN LIGHT. THE LIGHT WAS GREEN AND THERE WERE NO CARS TRAVELING IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS A CAR SITTING IN THE TURNING LANE FACING ME WAITING TO TURN. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. ALL OF A SUDDEN AN ALARM WENT OFF IN THE CRV AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED HARD FOR NO REASON. THE CRV ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THROWING ME FORWARD. I QUICKLY EVALUATED THE SITUATION. THE LIGHT WAS GREEN, NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME EXCEPT THE CAR FACING ME IN THE TURNING LANE. I AM AFRAID THE CAR WILL DO IT AGAIN FOR NO REASON TO ME OR MY PARTNER. NO DAMAGE OCCURED.05 *TR
WHILE IN MOTION IN A CITY STREET WITH FOOT ON ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY BRAKED FOR NO REASON. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND TO WARRANT BRAKE SYSTEM TO INITIATE. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD CAUSE ME AN ACCIDENT. *TR
DRIVING RURAL CITY ROAD AT APPROX 25MPH WHEN CAR CMBS ENGAGED. NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OR OBJECTS. THERE WAS A VEHICLE FOLLOWING ME. CMBS APPLIED THE BRAKES AND VEHICLE IN BACK OF ME CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING MY CAR. *TR
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACK DEVELOPED ON ITS OWN. DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT AND REFERRED TO NEARBY GLASS COMPANY FOR REPAIR. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR-USED (5-4-20) WITH 18250 MILES ON IT 3 DAYS LATER (5-7-20) TOOK A SHORT ROAD TRIP. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, ALL OF A SUDDEN LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON AND ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER THE SIDEWALL WENT OUT... THANKFULLY I WAS ALREADY SLOWING DOWN. IT WAS THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE. A NICE PERSON STOPPED TO HELP ME CHANGE THE TIRE. WHEN HE REMOVED IT THE ENTIRE INSIDE SIDE WALL LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE TOOK A KNIFE TO IT ALL THE WAY AROUND. *TR
When driving on the freeway for a longer distance the steering wheel will stick when attempting to stay in my lane. It will come loose after a little harder pull, but an over correction could cause an accident. Also, the inability to properly stay in my own lane could endanger others. My husband drove the car on a recent trip and experienced it for the first time himself. We have had the vehicle to the dealer 3 times. They still have the car right now, but say they have been unable to reproduce the event and that nothing is showing up on their testing. This issue may not be enough to trigger the computer as an issue, but I can assure you my inability to stay in my lane is scary. This problem (at this time) is not a lock up of the steering wheel, but rather a stiffing and a temporal slight stick of the steering wheel. At one point in slow traffic after the car had been drive. For about 5 hours on a trip, you could hear a click when I had to pull a little harder to get it to unstick. The problem initially started a few years ago, but the dealership was able to calibrate the car and possibly oiled something and it was fine from that time forward; until recently. I took it to the dealer. They said they could not duplicate the issue, but recalculated the car. Told me to drive it and see if the problem was fixed. I had left my car overnight. It seemed to be okay, so we went out of town. The problem came back and was more prevalent than before and my husband experienced it. We took the car in and left it overnight again. This brings us to today. They still have my car and can’t (according to them) duplicate the problem.
HONDA CRV-2018 SUDDENLY STOPS WHILE DRIVING; ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHT IS FLASHING; NO CAR IS IN FRONT. *TR
DRIVING ON CITY STREET AND INTERSTATE THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST BUT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM HOUSES THE GPS AND CLIMATE CONTROL (DEFROST) SYSTEM ALONG WITH THE CAR SETTINGS (ADAS) AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. WHEN YOU ARE DEPENDENT ON THE GPS FOR NAVIGATION AND YOU LOOSE THE DIRECTIONS YOU GO INTO A PANIC SITUATION TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT. WHEN THE WINDSHIELD FOGS AND YOU CAN'T USE THE DEFROST SYSTEM IT BECOMES A VISIBILITY ISSUE. DEALERSHIP HAS UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
"HANDS FREE" TAILGATE OPENER DOES NOT WORK WHEN FOOT IS KICKED UNDER REAR OF CAR
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CASES A 6INCH+ CRACK IN THE PASSENGER'S FIELD OF VIEW.
WHILE IN MOTION, FRONT END MAKES A NOISE WHEN HE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. STEERING WHEEL AND CAR JERK WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN OR CURVE. HONDA SERVICE FOUND THAT THE RACK/STEERING BOX IS DEFECTIVE. OTHER 18 MODELS HAVE RECALLS. MY WARRANTY IS OUT AND HONDA WANTS ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. *TR
I HAVE A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE FRONT END AND STEERING IS NOISY, CLICKS, KNOCKS BANGS WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL. WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET, HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE, AROUND CURVES THE STEERING AND FRONT END JERKS. IT IS HARD TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES. I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED WHEN IT FIRST STARTED DOING THIS AND THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD STEERING BOX/RACK. BUT BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS OUT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. I WAS QUOTED A PRICE FOR ME TO PAY AROUND $3000. THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER 2018 MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
The contact’s wife owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) engaged inadvertently while there were no vehicles or objects around the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle resumed speed independently. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving at nighttime also. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
2018 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE SHUTTING OFF, DEFECTIVE HEATER, GAS IN THE OIL. *LD *JS
THERE IS A VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE ENGINE OIL. THE OIL LEVEL IS MUCH HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK THAN AT THE LAST OIL CHANGE, INDICATING GASOLINE IS SOMEHOW MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE OIL. THERE IS A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN ON EVERY TRIP. CAR IS OWNED AND OPERATED IN ATLANTA, GA.
I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 80 IN NEW JERSEY AT 70 MPH. NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME OR IN FRONT OF ME THE CAR APPLIED AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM. CAR CAME ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP CAUSING ME NECK AND BACK PAIN. THERE WAS NO WARNING THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO REASONI WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL. DEALER FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. VERY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. IT WAS A CLEAR SUNNY DAY.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN PAST THREE WEEKS. CAR STARTS AND AND ALL LIGHTS COME ON BLINKING ON DASHBOARD INCLUDING BRAKE, BRAKE SYSTEM, AND CONTINUE BLINKING. BLINKING LIGHTS CONTINUE WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY OR MOVING AND ON GRAVEL ROAD AND PAVED ROADS. THE FIRST TRIP TO LOCAL HONDA AND REPORT WAS BAD BATTERY. SECOND TRIP AND I WAS TOLD CONNECTOR BOX. THIS IS THIRD TIME AND ITS WEEKEND AND LOCAL HONDA CLOSED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THE DATE BELOW IS THIRD TIME DATE.
THE ENGINE OR SOMETHING THAT CONTROLS THE FUEL TO THE ENGINE CAUSES FUEL DILUTION OF THE ENGINE OIL. THIS WAS EASILY IDENTIFIED WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL. THE CAR WAS AT HOME ON A LEVEL CONCRETE FLOOR AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE THE NORMAL FULL LEVEL AND THE OIL STRONGLY SMELLED OF GASOLINE. THIS RESULTS IN DECREASED OIL VISCOSITY CAUSING PREMATURE WEAR OF ENGINE PARTS AND ENGINE FAILURE LEADING TO INCREASED MAINTENANCE COSTS.
STALLING WHILE DRIVING WHEN STOPPED THE FUEL LEVEL IS HIGH, KNOWN HONDA OIL DILUTION PROBLEM CHECKED BY EAST COAST HONDA MYRTLE BEACH S C THEY REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS PIPES AND OIL AGAIN FOR 3RD TIME. CONTINUALLY OVERFULL CRANKCAS. HONDA HAS AN OPEN CASE ALSO #10008784 AND DEALERSHIP IS WORKING ON THE SOLUTION BUT IT STILL EXISTS! I ALREADY HAVE A NHTSA CASE # 11277446 BUT I CAN NOT LOCATE IT AND TELEPHONE CLERK WAS SNOTTY ABOUT ME GIVING HER THE INFO AND ME ASKING FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.
TWICE AT THE SAME 4 STOP INTERSECTION, I HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN CLEAR ATTEMPTED PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS) HAS ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY. BOTH TIMES I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION AND WHEN A THIRD OF THE WAY THROUGH DASH BOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE BRAKES ENGAGED, HALTING ME IN THE INTERSECTION.
FROM THE DATE I PURCHASED (SO HONDA ALREADY KNEW OF PROBLEM) MY VEHICLE OIL IS BEING OVER FILLED (AND DILUTED) WITH GASOLINE. IT DILUTES AND OVERFILLS TO THE POINT OF PCV VALVE BURN OFF. NOW 33000 MILES ON AUTO, HONDA WANTS TO CHANGE INJECTORS TO "SEE" IF THIS SOLVES PROBLEM. ONE: IT'S HAPPENED SINCE NEW. INJECTORS OR DOUBTFULLY THE PROBLEM. TWO: 33000 MILES OF GAS/OIL DILUTION HAS UNDOUBTEDLY CAUSED WEAR TO CRANK AND CYLINDERS. HOW IS INJECTORS BEING REPLACED GOING TO "SOLVE" THE WEAR THAT THEY HAVE ALLOWED, SINCE MY CONTINUED CONCERNS AT EVERY SINGLE OIL CHANGE FOR 33000 MILES WERE IGNORED? I HAVE READ THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM, BUT VERY COMMON WITH THIS ENGINE. ONE: WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADDRESSED MY CONCERNS FOR 33000 MILES? TWO: WITH A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINING FROM THE START OF DILUTION, WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADDRESSED THE WEAR TO MY ENGINE? AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT STOP THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY HONDA IGNORING MY COMPLAINTS FOR 33000 MILES TO START A REPAIR. NOTE, I HAVE ADDRESSED OVERFILLING WITH GASOLINE AT EVERY OIL CHANGE (GARAGE VISIT) TO THE POINT OF ARGUMENT JUST TO GET IT DOCUMENTED THAT I RAISED THE ISSUE! IT DILUTES TO PCV VALVE BURNOFF BEFORE 1000 MILES (AS TESTED AND VERIFIED BY HONDA DEALERSHIP!) AND GOES FOR AT LEAST 5000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. EVERY DAY MORE GAS AND OIL ARE BURNT THROUGH EXHAUST AS MORE GAS IS ADDED. I WILL COMPLY WITH THE INJECTOR "FIX" BY THE GARAGE, BUT WANT MY WEAR TO THE ENGINE ADDRESSED. THIS IS GROSS OVERFILLING AND DILUTION, KNOWN BY HONDA, AND SOLD TO ME ANYWAYS, WITH NO REPAIR AS OF YET TO WEAR. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WARRANTY RUNS OUT AND THEY HAVE ALLOWED SUCH GROSS DILUTION AND WEAR? THEY ARE CLAIMING A "COLD CLIMATE" PROBLEM, BUT MY DOES IT IN THE HEAT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SUMMER! HONDA IS COVERING UP.

GARAGE ALSO MADE IT HARD TO JUMP AS WAS PULLED IN FORWARD! THIS IS ALL SCARY AND MUST BE FIXED BUT DEALER SAYS NORMAL. HE SAID SOME DIE IN A COUPLE / FEW DAYS AND IT'S NORMAL. THIS IS NORMAL? AFTER JUMPING IT I HAD TO RESET SO MUCH / DASH WAS LIT UP - RADIO DIDN'T WORK. 17 DAYS IS NOTHING FOR A CAR TO SIT AND DEALER SAID IT MAY HAVE DIED THE FIRST WEEK. THEN WHAT - NO ALARM - NOTHING. I LOOKED ONLINE AND MANY HAVE THIS ISSUE. FOR ALL I KNOW MY HONDA BATTERY DIED DAY 2 OR 3 AS MANY ONLINE SAY THEIRS DIES AFTER SITTING JUST A FEW DAYS.

ON SATURDAY 2/29/2020 I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON HIGHWAY 183 HERE IN AUSTIN TEXAS AT 68 MPH WHEN MY DRIVER DOOR OPENED. IT DIDN'T FLY ALL THE WAY OPEN BUT IT WAS AJAR ABOUT 4 TO 5 INCHES. I HELD THE DOOR AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS I COULD WHILE DRIVING WITH THE OTHER HAND TO REACH A SAVE STOP IN ORDER TO CLOSE MY DOOR. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR AND 8 MONTHS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT IT IS SCARY NONETHELESS. I WAS ABOUT 19 MILES INTO MY TRIP TO WORK THAT DAY. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND THAT WAS NO ALERT THAT MY DOOR WAS OPENED PRIOR TO IT OPENING. THERE WASN'T EVEN A ALERT ONCE IT BECAME OPEN AND I NOTICED BECAUSE I COULD HEAR THE AIR AND THE DOOR WAS MOVING. THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM STILL SHOWED THE DOOR LOCKED BEFORE I UNLOCKED IT AND CLOSED THE DOOR. WHILE IT HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN. I WOULD STILL APPRECIATE THIS TO BE LOOKED INTO.
I SMELL GASOLINE INSIDE THE CAR AFTER I START THE ENGINE. THE GASOLINE SMELL IS NOT PRESENT ON INITIAL START UP BUT HAPPENS WHEN I RUN ERRANDS WHICH REQUIRES MANY STOPS. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 40 DEGREES. IT IS NECESSARY TO OPEN WINDOWS TO VENTILATE THE CABIN. I HAVE ALSO LOST THE SENSORS THREE TIMES AND MY SCREEN HAS GONE BLACK REQUIRING ME TO REBOOT. I HAVE TALKED TO TECHNICIAN THREE TIMES SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. 12:00 NOON 02/19/2020. WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON HILLTOP ROAD IN GREENSBORO, NC WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO SLOW FOR A ROUGH RAILROAD CROSSING. THE BRAKES WERE ABRUPTLY APPLIED WITHOUT ANY WARNING SLIDING THE TIRES. IF ANYONE HAD BEEN CLOSE BEHIND ME I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN REAR-ENDED. WHILE DRIVING ON 45 MPH ROAD ON 2020 FEB 18 MORNING, THE VEHICLE CAME TO SUDDEN STOP AFTER I CROSSED A SIGNAL INTERSECTION. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN THE FRONT OR BACK LUCKILY AND I DID NOT GET DAMAGED. I TOOK THE CR-V TO PERFECTION HONDA IN RIO RANCHO, AFTER HOLDING THE VEHICLE FOR CHECK UP FOR 24 HRS, THEY DID NOT GIVE A MEANINGFUL REASON AND ONLY GIVEN IRRELEVANT ANSWER. COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM FAILED TO DEPLOY RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A PARKED VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH. ACCIDENT RESULTED IN MINOR INJURIES TO THE DRIVER- BROKEN FINGER.
THE IGNITION IS KEYLESS. I PRESSED TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND IT SHUT OFF. BUT I FORGOT TO SHIFT INTO PARK. I EXITED THE CAR. THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD. I RAN BACK TO IT, JUMPED IN AND SHIFTED TO PARK, STOPPING THE CAR. IF I HADN'T NOTICED AND STOPPED THE CAR, SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE BEEN HURT. WHEN YOU STOP THE ENGINE, THERE SHOULD BE AN AUTOMATIC SHIFT TO PARK OR AN AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE.
APPROXIMATELY 2,200 MILES. DRIVING NORMALLY AT ABOUT 35MPH. CAR STARTED SEVERELY MISFIRING. AND QUICKLY STARTED LOSING POWER. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 9 MPH..WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. VISUALLY CHECKED MOTOR INCLUDING OIL DIPSTICK. STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE NORMAL. GAS IN THE OIL. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED BY THE HONDA SERVICE TECH THERE WAS GAS IN THE OIL AND PLUGS WERE FOULED. OIL DILLUTION PROBLEM.

INTERMITTENTLY THE "SAFETY SYSTEM" ITEMS STOP WORKING- ADAPTIVE CRUISE, LANE ASSIST, ETC. THIS HAPPENS EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO RAIN/ FOG/ PHYSICAL OBSTRUCTION, ETC. AFTER FEW HOURS IT STARTS WORKING. HAPPENS EVERY FEW WEEKS.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSANGER SIDE ON 02/02/2020 WHEN IT WAS PARKED. NO SIGNS OF ANY CHIPS.
YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING AT 68MPH, WITH NO VEHICLES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME OR BESIDE ME, AND NO OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE ROADWAY AT ALL, THE VEHICLE SELF-APPLIED THE BRAKES FIRMLY. THIS WASN'T A GRADUAL SLOW DOWN, IT WAS IMMEDIATE AND THANKFULLY THE LARGE BOBTAIL TRUCK BEHIND HAD AN ATTENTIVE DRIVER, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED AND THE RESULTS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSITIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 OTHER TIMES, BUT AT SLOWER SPEEDS. AGAIN, THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE CR-V...EXCEPT AIR AND CONCRETE. THIS EVENT GOT MY ATTENTION AND THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. I CALLED HONDA OF TOMBALL AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. THEY HADN'T HEARD OF THIS ISSUE, BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, HONDA MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE. THE CR-V IS THERE FOR DIAGNOSIS AND NOTHING AGAINST HONDA OF TOMBALL, AS THEY ARE GREAT, BUT THERE IS NO SOLUTION. APPARENTLY, HONDA HASN'T EVEN SENT THIS DOWN TO THE DEALERS? WE PURCHASED 2 HONDA VEHICLES A MONTH APART, DUE TO THEIR ADVERTISED RELIABILITY AND SAFETY RATINGS. WE ABSOLUTELY WANT THE ADDED ELECTRONIC SAFETY FEATURES, AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO MINIMIZE ACCIDENTS AND INJURY. THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE HONDA SENSING IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF ADMISSION TO THE ISSUE ISN'T STATED AND A REAL RESOLUTION ISN'T PRESENTED BY HONDA. IT WAS ALMOST ME YESTERDAY. TOOK TO NEARBY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO NARROWED MALFUNCTION TO ECM. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO REPLACED VSA MODULATOR. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START; ENGINE STARTS BUT SHUTS BACK OFF IMMEDIATELY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER; BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED.
FROM 3,500 TO NOW 9,500MI 5 SEPERATE OCCASIONS SENSOR SUITE HAS QUIT FUNCTIONING FOR FROM 10MI TO A 100MI TILL COME BACK ON. IN ALL BUT 1 TIME (WHICH RECURRED GOING TO DEALER) BY COMING TO STOP OR RESTARTING ENGINE HAS RETURNED TO NORMAL. STILL HAVE THROTTLE, BRAKE, GAS GUAGE, LIGHTS ETC BUT NO FUNCTIONS THAT REQUIRE PUSHBUTTON OR SENSING FUNCTIONS. ALL HAPPENED WHILE AT HYW SPEEDS. 1 TIME CAR TOTALLY QUIT (LIKE SHUT OFF WITH SWITCH) FOR A SEC FREE ROLLING AT 65MPH THEN CAME ON WHERE LEFT OFF.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN UNOBSTRUCTED CITY STREET, AT NIGHT, I DROVE UNDER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE THAT WAS CASTING A SHADOW ON THE ROAD. THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM BEEPED AND ALERTED TO BRAKE. THE CAR THEN BEGAN BRAKING VERY HARD TO A NEAR FULL STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID OBSTRUCTING TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT VEHICLE MISFIRED AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BECAME NONFUNCTIONAL. LOST SOME CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. PARKED CAR IMMEDIATELY AND CAR STARTED TO REV ITSELF WHILE IN PARK WITHOUT PUSHING THE PEDAL. ALL SYSTEM ALERT INDICATORS CAME ON INDICATING ISSUES WITH MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL & ENGINE COMPONENTS. TURNED CAR OFF FOR A MINUTE. TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS REMAINED. CALLED LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. HONDA DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY NOTICED MISFIRES AS WELL WHEN TESTING AND CAR WAS NOT PERFORMING WELL. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE FOLLOWING IN DIAGNOSTIC REPORT: "FOUND ENGINE OIL TO BE OVER FILLED. CODE P0300 RANDAM MISFIRE. THERE WAS GAS IN THE FUEL - PERFORMED OIL CHANGE AND UPDATED THE PGM - FI SYSTEM" AFTER CONDUCTING RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CRV 2018 MODELS, BUT THERE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RECALL. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA THAT GAS GETS IN TO THE OIL PANEL AND DILUTES THE OIL WITH GAS. THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY AND MECHANICAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS HAD OUR CAR MISFIRED AT HIGHER SPEED THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH THE AMOUNT OF LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL ALSO ASSUREDLY EFFECT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLES ENGINE AS OIL IS DILUTED BY GAS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT FORTHCOMING WITH INFORMATION REGARDING THIS KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA OF GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL TANK AND CAUSING STALLING AND MISFIRES ISSUES JUST AS WHAT HAPPENED TO US. IT WAS NOT UNTIL WE TOLD THEM WE FOUND INFORMATION ON IT OURSELVES DID THEY RECOGNIZE IT. WE WERE INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT OUR PARTICULAR VIN HAD ALREADY HAD THE UPDATE AND FIX THAT WAS SUGGESTED BY HONDA FOR THIS ISSUE. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN IT DID NOT REMEDY OUR VEHICLE, AND THIS IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE HONDA NEEDS TO RECTIFY WITH ITS CUSTOMERS.
