SEVERE DILUTION OF ENGINE OIL WITH GASOLINE
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 60 MPH, the automatic braking system engaged inadvertently. The brake warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who informed the contact that the automatic braking system applied due to an unknown object on the roadway; however, the contact stated that there was no vehicle or object around. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
OCTOBER 2018 WE TOOK OUR NEW C RV ON A TRIP TO NASHVILLE, TN FROM TRAVERSE CITY, MI. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE OIL CAN ICON LIT UP. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE C RV FROM AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. I GOT OUT AND CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND IT HIGH. I BROUGHT THE HONDA TO A QUICK LUBE TO CHECK IT. THEY CHANGED THE OIL THEN SENT ME ON MY WAY. AFTER ARRIVING BACK HOME TC A FEW WEEKS LATER WE GOT A RECALL LETTER FROM HONDA. ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 26TH, WILLIAMS HONDA IN TC DID THE RECALL WORK. ON THURSDAY MY WIFE GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO GO SHOPPING AND THE HEATER WOULD NOT WORK. SHE CALLED THE HONDA DEALER AND BROUGHT THE HONDA TO THEM. THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT CAUSE THE HEATER TO NOT WORK WITH THE RECALL REPAIR. AFTER DOING SOMETHING, THE HEATER BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. THIS IS VERY WORRISOME, WE ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. ON AN EARLIER OCCASION OUR NEW CR-V WOULD NOT START AS AFTER ONLY 30 MINUTES OF SITTING THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THE HONDA DEALER TOLD US YOU CAN'T LEAVE ANY LIGHTS ON AS THE BATTERY WONT LAST VERY LONG.
HAVE A 2018 HONDA CRV WITH THE 2.4L ENGINE, I KEEP GETTING A GAS/ EXHUAST SMELL INSIDE THE PASSENGER CAB WHILE IT IS IDLING (STATIOARY) AND FUEL SMELL IN ENGINE OIL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CUSTOMERS CONCERN AND THOS MOTOR DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT. MYBE IT SHOULD. THE PROMBLEM JUST HAPPENED AGAIN, I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN. THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE. IF MY COUNTY L LIVE IN, HAD EMISSION TESTING, IT PROBABLY WOULDN'T PASS, THE TAIL PIPE HAS BLACK CARBON ON IT.
PURCHASED HONDA 2018 CRV TOURING IN OCTOBER OF 2018. IN DECEMBER RECEIVED LETTER FROM HONDA REGARDING A FIX FOR THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE. OIL CHANGE 12/27/18 AND AGAIN 5/30/19 AT 3544 MILES AS OIL ABOVE FULL ON DIPSTICK. OIL CHANGE AGAIN 8/21/19 AT 7,386 MILES FOR SAME ISSUE. NOW AT 10,971 NEEDING OIL CHANGE AGAIN BECAUSE OF EXCESS OIL/FUEL MIXTURE. ALSO, STILL GETTING GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. ## VIN PASSED ## ##
The driver's side sun visor will not stay up in the correct position it keeps falling down causing visibility issues. when I'm going down the interstate at 70 miles an hour and The driver side sun visor decides to just go from the correct position and fall down into my line of view especially at night there's a couple of seconds there where my eyes get taken off the road to deal with it and that shouldn't happen. I consider this to say the issue it's no different than your phone ringing and looking down to see who's calling because when it just falls down in front of your face those couple of seconds something could happen. I get my Honda CRV serviced regularly at the dealership and I've mentioned it to them and they've offered to let me order one and pay for it and they would put it home but I'm still paying the car off. So I guess my only option is just to take it off completely not replace it and then just hope that the sun isn't really bright one day and calls me to get an accident because I'm blinded because I don't have a sun visor anymore

ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE IDLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOBBY RAHAL HONDA OF STATE COLLEGE (LOCATED AT 2796 W COLLEGE AVE, STATE COLLEGE, PA 16801, (814) 552-1352) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,989.
ENGINE OIL CONTAMINATED BY GASOLINE. STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN OIL AND CABIN. OIL HAS THE VISCOSITY OF WATER. NHTSA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO ITS JOB AND FORCE HONDA TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE. CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED IF THE TESTED CRV ENGINE AND ALL I RECEIVED WAS SILENCE OVER THE PHONE. MY ENGINE HAS BEEN COMPROMISED AS I DROVE 12,000 MILES SO FAR. IF NHTSA DOES NOT DO ITS JOB IN RECALLING THIS VEHICLE EVERYONE THERE SHOULD BE FIRED. I HOPE SOMEONE THERE OF ANY AUTHORITY READS THIS COMPLAINT. AGAIN NHTSA DO YOUR JOB.
I CAN SMELL GAS IN THE CAR, BUT I DON'T SEE A LEAK. HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER FAILED TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRIVEN BEFORE THE VEHICLE WARMED UP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCLARTY HONDA (10 COLONEL GLENN CT, LITTLE ROCK, AR, (501) 482-5326) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED; HOWEVER, THE OIL WAS CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 09213798. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ON 12/21/18, I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED FLASHING ALL KINDS OF ALERTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR WOULD NOT START. DOOR LOCKS, TAILGATE WOULD NOT CLOSE VIA REMOTE OR OR BY PRESSING THE BUTTONS FOR THESE FUNCTIONS. NO INDICATION THAT THE LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON. 2 HOURS PRIOR THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE. TOW WAS REQUESTED. TOW TRUCK DRIVER GAVE THE BATTERY A JUMPSTART AND TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING FOR 30 MINUTES WHILE THE SYSTEM RESET. THE SYSTEM DID NOT RESET. DASHBOARD ALERTS FOR TPMS PROBLEM, BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, BRAKE HOLD PROBLEM AND VEHICLE STABILITY ASSISTANCE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO FLASH. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT HOME IN DRIVEWAY FROM THE PREVIOUS EVENING. WE MOVED IT FORWARD TWO HOURS PRIOR TO ALLOW SPACE TO ROLL OUT OR TRASH CANS FOR GARBAGE COLLECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE ON JULY 30TH 2018 AND HAS 8322 MILES ON IT. NEVER EXPECTED TO HAVE AN ISSUE OF THIS SORT WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. GRATEFUL THAT IT SHUTDOWN AT HOME RATHER THAN ON THE HIGHWAY.
GASOLINE MIXING WITH ENGINE OIL,OIL LEVEL RISING ABOVE FULL MARK DILUTING ENGINE OIL.WILL POSSIBLY CAUSE PRE MATURE ENGINE DAMAGE.SMELL OF GASOLINE IN OIL.HONDA IS CLAIMING THIS IS NORMAL..THIS IS NOT NORMAL!
2018 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE TIRES ON VEHICLE. *LD CONSUMER STATES THAT SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE, THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF PRINCETON (PRINCETON, NJ) FOR REPAIRS. ON 2/9/2020 CONSUMER REPLACED THE TIRES. MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. *DL
OIL DILUTION CAUSING ELEVATED ENGINE OIL LEVELS AND CAMSHAFT PINGING NOISE. ALSO SMELL OF GAS IN OIL AND ENGINE TAKES EXTENDED TIME TO WARM UP. INITIALLY, SLIGHT PINGING NOISE (~5K MILES) WHICH BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.
THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED MINOR PINGING NOISE FROM ENGINE AND GAS SMELL IN CABIN STARTING ABOUT SEPTEMBER 2018. I CALLED TO HAVE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DONE AS AT ABOUT 5K MILES. HONDA MOTORWERKS OF LA CROSSE SERVICE REP SAID WAIT UNTIL NOTIFIED. NOTIFICATION OCCURRED AND AT SAME TIME I NOTICED LOUDER PING. I SCHEDULE APPT. AT THAT APPT ON 12/19/2018 CAMPAIGN RECALL: 18-114:6DU00 WAS PERFORMED. I WAS ASSURED THE RECALL FIX WOULD ADDRESS ISSUE. IT DID NOT AS PINGING REMAINS. ANOTHER APPT TODAY 12/20/2018 TO LOOK AT NOISE AGAIN AND LOWER OIL LEVEL AS WAS OVERFILLED YESTERDAY BY HONDA DEALERSHIP. I REQUEST THAT NHTSA DIRECT HONDA TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESOLUTION FOR THESE ISSUE DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE(GAS SMELL IN CAB, EXTENSIVE GAS IN OIL RESERVOIR) AND ADDRESS DAMAGE DONE TO VEHICLE DUE TO COMPROMISED OIL LUBRICATION (CAM PINGING PER RECALL DOCUMENTATION). I REALLY STARTED THINKING ABOUT AN INCIDENT FROM TWO DAYS AGO, WHEN I RECEIVED A "VAGUE" 2018 HONDA CRV RECALL NOTICE ON MY CAR FOR AN A/C CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT, ETC. TODAY. THAT NOTICE PROMPTED ME TO BEGIN SEARCHING ONLINE FOR ANYONE DOCUMENTING "SPONTANEOUS BRAKING." I DID FIND SEVERAL THAT WOULD SAY EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID IN THEIR PLACE. IN OTHER WORDS, BRAKING HARD ENOUGH TO AN ABRUPT STOP THAT IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. THINGS WERE THROWN FROM THE SEATS TO THE FLOOR WHEN I WAS GOING QUITE SLOWLY (ON THIS NEIGHBORHOOD SIDE STREET).COMING UP ON AN AREA WHERE A LARGE STEEL SHEET HAD BEEN PLACED BY SEWER WORKERS OVER AN OPENING IN THE LANE I WAS IN. I WAS SO SHOCKED THAT I LOWERED MY PASSENGER WINDOW TO CALL OUT TO TWO OF THE WORKERS THAT, "I DIDN'T DO IT, THE CAR DID." YESTERDAY I WENT BACK TO THAT SAME LOCATION TO EXAMINE EXACTLY HOW THE SPOT APPEARED. IT DEFINITELY LOOKED LIKE THE TYPE OF ROAD CONDITION THAT A KID'S TRICYCLE IS BUILT TO EASILY PASS OVER. I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 9/28/2018. IN THE RECALL NOTICE, THEY REFERRED TO: WHAT IS THE PRODUCT UPDATE ISSUE--FOLLOWING THAT IT SAYS--. . .THERE ARE REPORTS OF VEHICLES EXPERIENCING DRIVABILITY CONCERNS. THESE CONCERNS CAN RESULT IN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) TURNING ON. OH! REALLY! JUST A "CONCERN"? I'M HOPING TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS, AND HAVE IT FIXED, BEFORE I, OR SOMEONE LIKE ME, BECOME A STATISTIC. I DON'T THINK OF AN A/C ISSUE AS HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH 'DRIVABILITY.'
OUR 2018 HONDA CRV TOURING HAS THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM. OUR OIL LEVEL INCREASED ABOUT 3/4 INCH ON THE OIL STICK FROM MAY, 2018 TO DECEMBER, 2018 AND IT SMELLS LIKE GAS. WE HAVE ALSO SMELLED GAS INSIDE OUR CAR. HONDA IS FIXING SOME CARS, BUT WE LIVE IN ARKANSAS AND OUR STATE IS NOT ON THE LIST TO BE REPAIRED. WE COULD HAVE AN ENGINE FIRE SO FEEL IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO, THE ENGINE WILL WEAR OUT A LOT FASTER WITH THE DILUTION....EVEN THOUGH THE HONDA DEALER SAID IT WON'T!!

TOOK VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER LATE NOVEMBER 2018. PARTS TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS. COMPLETED 12/17/18 HONDA UPDATE 18-114. HEAT NEVER WORKED OVER WINTER, CAR NEVER WARMED UP UNLESS DRIVEN IN "L" FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, SMELLED OF GAS & ENGINE OIL LEVEL EXCEEDED FULL MARK. TOOK INTO DEALER & DEALER MEASURE ENGINE OIL OVER 1 INCH ABOVE FULL ON DIPSTICK. HONDA SERVICE ADVISOR CONSULTED WITH HONDA WHO STATED THIS IS A "NORMAL" CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS MOTOR. NOTHING WAS DONE TO FIX ISSUE & DEEMED EXCESSIVE GASOLINE IN THE OIL AS BEING NORMAL. ENGINE CONTINUES NOT TO PROVIDE HEAT & OCCASSIONALLY SMELLS OF GASOLINE. DEALER STATES IF CAR IS PRIMARILY USED FOR SHORT DISTANCES THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO WARM UP & BURN OFF EXCESS GASOLINE IN THE INJECTORS. I HAVE LIVED IN THE SAME HOUSE FOR 15 YEARS & IN THAT TIME HAD 7 CARS. MY COMMUTES & OVERALL USE OF VEHICLES HAS NOT CHANGED BUT THIS IS THE ONLY CAR TO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE.
GASOLINE SMELL IN OIL,ALSO OCCASIONALLY GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN TURN ON THE HEAT.
LOTS OF GASOLINE IN MY OIL. OIL LEVEL STARTING CLIMBING AT ONSET OF COLD WEATHER HERE IN LOUISIANA ( IT HAD BEEN STABLE AT FULL LINE BEFORE WEATHER GOT COLD). MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE 15 MILES TO WORK ONE WAY 5 DAYS PER WEEK. SMELL OF GASOLINE KEPT GETTING STRONGER AND OIL LEVEL RISING SLIGHTLY EACH SATURDAY MORNING WHEN I CHECKED MY OIL (AFTER WEATHER GOT COLD). I SHOWED DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR (AT 50% OIL LIFE) WHO AGREED THAT THE OIL SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE & LEVEL WAS TOO HIGH AND THEN HE IGNORED MY REQUEST TO DOCUMENT THE ISSUE. I CHECK OIL LEVEL EACH SATURDAY MORNING (AS WELL AS TIRE PRESSURE ON ALL MY VEHICLES). ONCE I GOT HOME FROM DEALERSHIP OIL CHANGE AND REALIZED THAT THERE WAS NO COMPLAINT OF GASOLINE IN OIL IN MY PAPERWORK I CALLED HONDA USA AND COMPLAINED THEY THEN GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER.
3-MONTH-OLD 2018 CR-V EX-L - NOTICED OIL DILUTION PROBLEMS WITHIN FIRST 2 MONTHS. DEALER HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. GAS HAS BEEN GETTING INTO OIL IN APPARENTLY SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS. PERSISTENT SMELLS OF GAS AND 'ROTTEN EGGS/MEAT' WHILE OPERATING. OIL LEVEL GETS HIGHER ABOVE MEASURING SECTION OF DIPSTICK EVERY TIME I CHECK, SMELLS OF GAS. CAR BEGINS TO STALL A BIT OCCASIONALLY. HAD OIL CHANGED AT 5K MILES - TECH CONFIRMED OIL WAS VERY THIN, HIGHER VOLUME THAN SHOULD BE, AND SMELLED OF GAS. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY NOW (WHAT IF IT STALLS WHILE IN HEAVY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC?) AND ALSO LONG-TERM ENGINE DAMAGE SINCE DILUTED OIL WILL NOT LUBRICATE AS WELL. RESEARCHED ONLINE ONLY AFTER DISCOVERING PROBLEM - APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, AND WIDESPREAD - BUT BARELY ACKNOWLEDGED BY HONDA.
PURCHASED THE 2018 HONDA CR-V EX-L NEW FROM PEARSON HONDA, MIDLOTHIAN VA. 23112. SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE I NOTICED THE ODOR OF GAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. DURING DECEMBER 2018, I CALLED THE DEALER COMPLAINING THAT THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF GAS IN THE ENGINE OIL. I WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY OFFERED TO CHANGE THE OIL FREE OF CHARGE. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT HONDA KNEW ABOUT THIS ENGINE DEFECT DURING 2017 AND STILL INSTALLED THE DEFECTED ENGINES IN THE 2018 CR-V. HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN VA. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO KEEP BRINGING IN THE VEHICLE AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME FOR ADDITIONAL FREE OIL CHANGES. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND ANY ASSISTANCE FROM YOU WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. SECOND ISSUE: WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT SPEEDS OVER 50MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE WOULD BRAKE VERY HARD, USUALLY AS A SECOND VEHICLE IS BEING OVER TAKEN IN THE RIGHT LANE. I REPORTED THIS SITUATION TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THE SENSORS ARE JUST VERY SENSITIVE. THIS IS A SPORADIC PROBLEM.
AT SEVERAL POINTS IN TIME DURING NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER, I SMELLED A FOUL ODOR IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND THERE WAS A RECALL IN WHICH THEY APPLIED THE FIX. EVEN NOW, THERE APPEARS TO BE A FOUL SMELL ONCE IN A WHILE. THE HEATING SYSTEM TAKES A LONG TIME TO HEAT UP IN THE WINTER. IF IN PARK/IDLE MODE, THE HEAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE LESS HOT FOR SOME REASON.
I HAVE BEEN GETTING A STRONG GAS ODOR INSIDE THE CAR AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE THE FULL MARK,SMELLED STRONG OF GAS AND WAS A DARK COLOR FOR BEING BRAND NEW WITH 3,000 MILES. I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED CAMPAIGN RECALL #18-114 THAT INCLUDED SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A A/C CONTROL. I DROVE CAR 5 DAYS AND WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD THE CAR FILLED WITH GAS FUMES THAT WAS OVERWHELMING I HAD TO PUT ALL WINDOWS DOWN AND PULL OVER TO AIR THE VEHICLE OUT AND MAKE SURE IT WASNT GOING TO BE A FIRE HAZZARD.I HAVE REPORTED ISSUE TO HONDA FACTORY AND WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALER 12/19/18 TO ADRESS THE ISSUE AGAIN
HAD OIL CHANGED BY DEALER. NOTICED SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING HOME. CHECKED OIL HAD SMELL OF GASOLINE. OIL LEVEL HAS INCREASED SINCE CHECKED AFTER SERVICE. ACCORDING TO HONDA INFORMATION, CAR WILL SHUT ITSELF DOWN IF OIL LEVEL GETS TOO HIGH. IF CAR DIES ON INTERSTATE, COULD VERY WELL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WIFE NOTICES FUEL SMELL WHILE DRIVING. OIL WAS CHECKED AND I COULD VISIBLY SEE THE OIL IS CUT WITH GASOLINE ALONG WITH STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE ON OIL DIPSTICK. OIL IS INDEFINITELY CONTAMINATED WITH GASOLINE. FIRST NOTICED ON 12/10/18 AND RESEARCHED ONLINE FINDING THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V WITH THE 1.5L TURBO
I WAS FIRST IN LINE IN THE LEFT LANE ON A CROSS OVER TO A ONE WAY STREET THAT GOES FROM RIGHT TO LEFT. I WAS AT A STOP WAITING FOR A TIME I COULD TURN AND TRY TO GET OVER 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC. THERE ARE 4 LANES ON THE ONE WAY STREET WHICH IS M-59 ALSO KNOW AS HALL ROAD AND I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GO FAST AS I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO FIRST GET IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND THEN CROSS OVER THE OTHER 3 LANES TO THE RIGHT AND EXIT AT A DRIVE TO WHERE I WAS TRYING TO GET TO. I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO TAKE MAXIMUM ACCELERATION AND A DEFT TOUCH TO GET OVER THERE SAFELY. AS I TRIED TO DO THIS AND AS I MADE MY FIRST MOVE INTO THE LEFT LANE, MY CAR HESITATED AND DID NOT GIVE ME THE FULL ACCELERATION I WAS EXPECTING. THIS CAUSED ALL THE TIMING I NEEDED TO MAKE THIS MANEUVER SAFELY GO OUT THE WINDOW AND PUT ME IN A PRECARIOUS SITUATION. I HAD TO MAKE IN MY OPINION A VERY DANGEROUS MOVEMENT TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID A CAR THAT WAS CLOSING IN FAST FROM BEHIND BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET THE SPEED UP. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THIS CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET WHERE I WANTED TO GO BUT NOW HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE RELIABILITY OF TRYING TO MAKE THIS MANEUVER AGAIN.
I PURCHASED MY CR-V IN FEBRUARY 2018. I COMPLETED MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 6804 MILES IN DECEMBER. THE OIL WAS VERY DARK(BLACK), WATERY, AND SMELLED STRONGLY OF FUEL. ISSUES WITH VEHICLE ARE CAUSING AN OIL DILUTION PROBLEM. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BUT AT AN ELEVATION OF 6800 FEET. MY COMMUTE IS SHORT AND IT GETS COLD AT NIGHT. THE CR-V IS STORED IN A HEATED GARAGE DURING THE NIGHT. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED UNNECESSARY WEAR TO MY ENGINE AND AT THIS TIME HONDA IS ONLY GOING TO DIAGNOSE MY PROBLEM BUT NOT FIX IT ON FIRST VISIT. NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF GAS ON THE OIL DIPSTICK ALONG WITH A STRONG ODOR OF GAS IN THE CABIN AREA. THE SMELL IS SO STRONG THAT IT CAUSES THE OCCUPANTS TO BECOME SICK. THE SMELL IS NORMALLY WHEN ITS SITTING, IDLING OR WHEN YOU FIRST START IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD.
STARTED SMELLING AN ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE THEN NOTICED THE OIL LEVEL WAS OVER THE FULL MARK. THE DIPSTICK SMELLED LIKE FUEL MIXED WITH THE OIL. I HAD TAKEN THE SAME VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. DURING THE COLD MONTHS THE VEHICLE NEVER REALLY WARMED UP THE HEAT GUAGE WOULD HARDLY WARM UP WITH ONE BAR AND SOMETIMES THE BARS WOULD GO DOWN AS I DROVE WITH THE HEAT ON FULL BLAST. I TOOK IT BACK ON APRIL 19. 2019 AND FOUND GASOLINE WAS IN FACT MIXING IN WITH THE OIL. THE DIPSTICK WAS A QUART OVER FULL. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX OUT FROM HONDA.

THE OIL LEVEL IS WAY ABOVE THE FULL LINE ON DIP STICK. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE NEXT WEEK. I HOPE THEY HAVE A REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM.
ENGINE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED FOR FIRST TIME SINCE INFORMATION WAS PROMPTED ON DASH BOARD. AFTER CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL IT WAS DETECTED THAT OIL LEVEL IS HIGHER THAN NORMAL REQUIRED LEVEL. OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE ORANGE MEASURING SCALE AND IS 1/8 OF AN INCH ON METAL DIPSTICK. OIL SMELL ON GASOLINE AND THERE IS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL. ALSO, OIL SEEMS TO BE DELUTED. OIL LEVEL WAS CKECKED WHEN ENGINE WAS COLD AND HOT. THE RESULT WAS ALWAYS THE SAME. OIL LEVEL IS TOO HIGH.

THE DEALER SERVICED THE MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN, WHICH WAS NOT A MANUFACTURER RECALL, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT ISSUED ANY FUEL SYSTEM OR ENGINE RECALLS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I CHECKED THE OIL THE DAY IT WAS CHANGED BY HONDA GARAGE. IT WAS "MIDDLE-HIGH" ON THE DIPSTICK. AFTER 5000 MILES (STILL 50% OIL LIFE) I HAVE CHECKED THE DIPSTICK AGAIN AND IT IS WAY OVER THE MEASURING AREA OF THE DIPSTICK (AT LEAST AN INCH OR MORE OVER THE "FULL" MARK). THE CAR IS STUMBLING ON IDLE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS FROM TOO MUCH COMPRESSION. HONDA GARAGE STATES IT'S THE FIRST ONE THEY HEARD ABOUT. I SAY THAT'S BECAUSE HONDA HAS NOT TOLD CR-V 1.8L OWNERS TO CHECK! IF MORE CHECKED THEY WOULD SEE HOW BAD THE PROBLEM IS. GAS IN OIL NO GOOD. THIS MUCH GAS IN OIL MEANS NEW ENGINE! WHAT IS HONDA DOING ABOUT IT? FREE OIL CHANGE. I HAVE 12000 MILES ON CAR, AND PROBABLY AT LEAST HALF OR MORE WITH HIGH LEVELS OF GAS IN OIL. FREE OIL CHANGE IS NOT HELPING MY ENGINE. HONDA SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SELL ME THIS CAR IF THEY KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING. THEY'RE HIDING IT BY NOT INFORMING THE OWNERS WHO ARE NOT CHECKING BEFORE OIL CHANGES.

GAS IS LEAKING INTO THE OIL SYSTEM THUS OVERFILLING IT. I HAVE CHECKED MY VEHICLES OIL (LESS THAN 500 MILES ON MY CAR) AND THE OIL LINE WAS WAY PASSED FULL. THIS OVERFILLING CAN CAUSE PREMATURE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, WHICH ACCORDING TO EXPERTS CAN CAUSE STALLING AT RANDOM TIMES WHICH POSES AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE DRIVER AND OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE DID NOT INFORM ME OF THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A PRESSING ISSUE. HENCE THE REASON THE 2019 CR-V'S HAVE NOT YET BEEN RELEASED.

THE CRUISE CONTROL IS HYPERVARIABLE - WHEN COMBINED WITH A LANE WARNING SYSTEM, IT DROPPED US OUT OF CRUISE (AT 70MPH) WHEN PASSING A LARGE TRUCK IN THE RIGHT LANE. VERY UNSAFE TO BE ALL OF A SUDDEN IN THE LEFT LANE SLOWING DOWN WHEN WE WE TRYING TO SPEED PAST THE 18-WHEELER. DEALER SAID THE 'SENSITIVITY' OF THE LANE WARNING SYSTEM 'CAUGHT THE TRUCK CREEPING CLOSE' TO THE LINE -- WE DIDN'T SEE THAT AT ALL. ALSO, THE LANE WARNING SYSTEM IS QUITE INTERMITTENT - ONLY ABOUT 2 OUT OF 5 TIMES DOES THE RIGHT HAND WARNING SIGNAL SOMETHING (LIKE DRIFTING NEAR A SHOULDER) AS DESIGNED.

IN COLD WEATHER - BELOW ~15 DEGREES, THE ENGINE FULLY WARMS UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT TEMP DROPS TO BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE GAUGE IF YOU EXIT THE HIGHWAY OR GET INTO TRAFFIC JAM . AT LESS THAN HIGHWAY SPEED/BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC, HEAT/DEFROSTER NOT WARM ENOUGH TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR. GLASS/WIPERS ICE UP.
THE SEATS ARE EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CAUSE BOTTOM AND BACK PAIN. AFTER DRIVING FOR 30-40 MINUTES THE DRIVER'S BOTTOM BECOMES NUMB. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DRIVER CANNOT ATTEND TO THE ROAD AS EFFECTIVELY WHILE BEING IN EXTREME DISCOMFORT. THE SEATS ARE NOT WELL-DESIGNED IF THEY ARE CAUSING THE DRIVER THIS MUCH PAIN. ADJUSTING THE SEAT IN MANY POSSIBLE POSITIONS DOES NOT ELIMINATE THIS DISCOMFORT.
