GAS SMELL!!!!! GAS IN THE OIL!!!!! NO RECALL? ARE YOU SERIOUS?
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, WITH NO VEHICLES IN THE VICINITY, MY CAR ABRUPTLY APPLIED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I DIDN'T THINK TO MAKE NOTE OF THE SPEED OR DATE WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, BUT I DID MAKE NOTE OF THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. DURING BOTH OCCURRENCES, ECON MODE WAS TURNED OFF. SPEED WAS 58 MPH AS I HAD MERGED OVER TO THE RIGHT TO AN EXIT LANE. I DID CHECK ONLINE FOR ANY RECALLS FOR MY VIN AND/OR THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. NO RECALLS WERE ON RECORD. I ALSO CHECKED DIFFERENT FORUMS AND FOUND A COUPLE COMPLAINTS WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP 3 MONTHS AGO.
OIL LEVEL RISING DUE TO FUEL DILUTION
2018 HONDA CR-V GAS IN THE OIL BEWARE CONSUMERS .... I BOUGHT MY 2018 HONDA CR-V IN JULY.... AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH ON WHAT THE BEST SMALL SUV WOULD BE FOR ME TO HAVE IN MY RETIREMENT. MEDIA ARTICLES RAVED ABOUT THIS AUTOMOBILE.... CONSUMER REPORTS CHOSE IT AS THEIR SUV OF THE YEAR .... IT HAD THIS GREAT 1.5 TURBO ENGINE THAT WOULD GET UPWARDS OF 27-33 MPG .... IT WAS A COMPLETE PACKAGE .... MY DREAM RETIREMENT VEHICLE ....... THE DEALER TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I THAT OIL NEEDS TO BE CHANGED EVERY 7000 MILES OR SO .... MY HUSBAND IS A METICULOUS MECHANIC ... HE CHECKED THE OIL AT 3000 MILES AND FOUND IT A QUART HIGH .... ( HUUMMM... OIL DIES NOT INCREASE .... AND IT REEKED OF GAS..... GAS IN THE OIL? HE STARTED RESEARCHING POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH THE CR-V .... AND THINGS STARTED TO REALLY SOUR.... USA HONDA HAS APPARENTLY KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THE CR-V FOR QUITE SOME TIME .... THEY HAVE KEPT IT UNDER THE RADAR.... IN CHINA THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON 350,000 CR-V'S AND THEY HAVE STOPPED SALES.... CANADA HAS ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE... USA HONDA IS CLAIMING IT IS A COLD WEATHER ISSUE .... ( FIRST OFF I BOUGHT IT IN JULY AND SECONDLY.... A CAR THAT DOESN'T WORK IN COLD WEATHER???? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.... AN AWD VEHICLE AT THAT!!!) HONDA IS SEARCHING FOR A SOLUTION.... THERE IS NO SOLUTION.... GAS IS SEEPING INTO MY OIL WRECKING THE ENGINE AS I WRITE .... HONDA NEEDS TO STOP SALES.... I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE,APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND WAS ONLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER.
STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN OIL. OIL BEING DILUTED BY GASOLINE. STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN CABIN OCCASIONALLY DURING SHORT DRIVES
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT LOW SPEEDS ON INCLINED ROADS THE ENGINE IS IN A STATE WHERE IT IS STALLING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I HAVE TO ACCELERATE HARDER TO PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM COMPLETELY STALLING OUT. THIS IS ALSO FOLLOWED BY A SMELL OF GAS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR.
THE AUDIO CONTROL PANEL (RADIO, HEAT, LIGHT BRIGHTNESS, ETC) HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN AND AT TIMES WILL GET INTO A MODE WHERE IT CYCLES ALL THE CONTROLS ON-OFF-CHANGING VOLUME-BRIGHTNESS-SWITCHING RADIO STATIONS AND OTHER THINGS. IT HAD BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO FAULTS FOUND. I FINALL MANAGED TO CAPTURE THIS ON MY CAMERA AND SENT IT TO THE DEALER. THEY THEN REPLACED THE PANEL. NO ISSUES FOR A COUPLE MONTHS AND THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME HONDA WOULD NOT TRY TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE SUBCONTRACTOR WHO MADE THESE PANELS WAS AWARE IT HAD PROBLEMS AND "WERE WORKING ON A FIX". IN THE MEAN TIME I HAVE TO TRY TO DRIVE WITH IT MAKING ALL THESE CHANGES WHILE IT BLINKS, CHANGES INTENSITY AND VOLUME. THIS IS A VERY SUBSTANDARD SITUATION.I HAVE MOVIES OF THE PANEL DOING THIS BUT NO PICTURES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHEN THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL, HE FOUND FUEL MIXED WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERITAGE HONDA BEL AIR (1800 BEL AIR ROAD, FALLSTON, MD 21047, 410-343-5644) AND THE ENGINE OIL WAS REPLACED, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY FUEL WAS MIXED WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
NOISE HEARD AS CAR ACCELERATES AND DECELERATES. CHATTERING AND WHINING SOUND COMING FROM TRANSMISSION AS IT MOVES THROUGH VARIABLE GEARS. NOT RELATED TO ENGINE OR BRAKING. DEALER GETS NO CODES FROM CAR AND TESTING WAS NEGATIVE EVEN AS THEY DROVE CAR AND TOOK DATA IN REAL TIME.
I HAVE THE 2018 TOURING 1.5L TURBO CHARGED MODEL. I AM EXPERIENCING THE FUEL IN OIL ISSUE AND HONDA SAYS NEVADA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE UPDATE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND WANT IT FIXED. I DRIVE IN A VERY COLD CLIMATE ON SHORT TRIPS, WHICH IS WHEN THEY SAY THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING IN THIS MODELS.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FROM STOP. WITH THE ENGINE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE RPM INSTANTLY AND ABRUPTLY INCREASES FROM 700 RPM TO APPROXIMATELY 1000 RPM. THE VEHICLE MOVES AHEAD SUDDENLY WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND CAN REACH A SPEED OF 7 MPH ON LEVEL PAVEMENT. THE SAME ACCELERATION OCCURS WHEN I AM MOVING VERY SLOWLY INTO A PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE AND MY FOOT IS PRESSING LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL -- THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES SUDDENLY AND THE VEHICLE "JUMPS" AHEAD, REQUIRING INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT ACCELERATION. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION CONSTITUTES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE DRIVER DOES NOT EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AHEAD WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THEREFORE THE VEHICLE COULD IMPACT THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF IT, A WALL OR PARKING BARRIER AHEAD OF IT, OR A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING IN FRONT OF IT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO HONDA DEALERS FOR THIS CONDITION (SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 AND MARCH 12, 2021). THE FIRST SERVICE REPORT STATED "SYSTEM SCAN FOUND NO DTCS, ROAD TESTED AND FOUND ALL NORMAL." THE REPORT FROM THE SECOND DEALER STATED "CHECK AND FOUND NORMAL/PROPER OPERATION." THIS CONDITION HAS EXISTED SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE (NEW) ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2018. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION IS NOT NORMAL AND HAS THE DEFINITE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, OTHER VEHICLES, PROPERTY, OR PEDESTRIANS. HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE SMELLS OF UN BURNT GASOLINE IN THE CABIN AND UNDER THE HOOD. I WENT TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL AND IT APPEARED HIGHER THAN NORMAL AND IT SMELLED OF GASOLINE. ADDITIONALLY, THE DIPSTICK HAD A ODD SOLID RESIDUE ON IT. YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE ATTACHED PICTURE. WE HAD BROUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA THEY HAD KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, AND STATED THEY HAD NO "FIX" FOR IT. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN CONSIDERING THIS IS A PRETTY MUCH BRAND NEW VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT HONDA HAS NOTED CONCERN FOR THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLING.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE "COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM" ACTIVATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HONDA OWNERS MANUAL STATES THIS HAS 3 STAGES OF WARNINGS. THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT WAS DEFINITELY A STAGE 3 WARNING. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 40-45 MPH ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD WITH THE CLOSETS VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME PROBABLY A 1/4 MILE AHEAD. THE CAR ALL OF SUDDEN BRAKED VERY HARD FOR NO REASON TO THE POINT IT ACTUALLY THREW ME FORWARD IN THE SEAT, ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND HAD A CAR BEHIND ME BEEN CLOSER, THEY LIKELY WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED ME. THIS IS THE SECOND SUCH INCIDENT I'VE HAD WITH THE VEHICLE AND FEEL IT CAUSES A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION.
ENGINE OIL IS BEING DELETED WITH GASOLINE IN LESS THAN 2000 MIES, WHICH WILL CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE OVER TIME. HAD OIL CHANGE, IT HAD ALMOST 1/2 INCH EXTRA FLUID ON THE OIL DIP STICK LEVEL AND THE OIL SMELLS LIKE OLD GASOLINE
This vehicle was purchased new and I am the sole owner. Immediately upon purchasing the vehicle, I experienced what has been described as 'sticky' steering. I believed at the time it was related to the adaptive cruise control, the lane keeping assistance system, or the road departure mitigation system. However, the sticky steering continued and was always present. In 2024 I took my vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer, Planet Honda in Lakewood, Colorado. They could not recreate the problem, but now I realize that this is because they did not get the vehicle and its parts warm enough to cause the problem to reveal itself. Upon becoming aware of two recalls of Honda CR-Vs with similar issues (NHTSA Campaign numbers 24V744000 and 18V663000), I took my vehicle back to Planet Honda last week and more fully described the problem. I was shocked to hear from the service advisor that he was not even aware of these recalls. However, I explained that EVERY SYMPTOM I was experiencing was and always had been exactly as described in the 2024 recall. I requested that they get the vehicle warm and then they would experience the problem. They did in fact confirm the problem, but stated that because the vehicle was not included in the recall they would charge me over $5,000 for repairs, despite the fact that it had been present since the inception of my ownership, and had been reported to them earlier. I do not dispute that my vehicle was not included in the recall, but would submit that given the situation, it SHOULD HAVE BEEN included, and even if not, the evidence is clear (and not disputed) that the problem is and always has been related to this manufacturing. design or assembly defect. I also recognize that my vehicle has over 136,000 miles. However, Honda readily advertise that its vehicle should last hundreds of thousands of miles, and I agree, IF a manufacturers' defect is repaired under warranty or SHOULD BE, as the subject of a recall. Please assist
OUR NEW 2018 HONDA CR-EX-L HAS THE 1.5L TURBO ENGINE. AFTER 1,012 TOTAL MILES, THE OIL WAS MORE THAN A QUART HIGH AND SMELLED OF GASOLINE. I HAD CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL WHEN WE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAD BEEN NORMAL - BETWEEN THE UPPER AND LOWER MARKS WHILE COLD. I COULD SMELL GASOLINE BOTH ON THE RAG AND COMING FROM THE CRANKCASE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND COMMUNICATED THE ABOVE PLUS I EXPRESSED SAFETY CONCERNS FROM THE GASOLINE. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED THE REGIONAL HONDA SERVICE REP AND THEY DECIDED TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER AS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. HONDA USA PAID FOR THE OIL CHANGE AND TOLD THE DEALER THAT 'WE KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION BUT WE DO NOT HAVE ONE YET.' HONDA WAS UNABLE TO ANSWER ANY OF OUR SAFETY RELATED CONCERNS. WE ASKED ABOUT: ENGINE FIRE, FUEL VAPORS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN, ENGINE STALLING, HEATER/DEFROST NOT WORKING IN WINTER, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE FROM FUEL CONTAMINATED OIL. ALL QUESTIONS HAD NO ANSWER FROM EITHER HONDA USA NOR FROM THE DEALER. AFTER ~ 600 MILES OF ADDITIONAL DRIVING, THE PROBLEM IS BACK AS THE OIL IS OVER-FULL AGAIN. IT IS LOOKING LIKE THE OIL WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED EVERY 800 MILES OF DRIVING. WE REMAIN CONCERNED ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY RISKS OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FUEL ACCUMULATING IN OIL PROBLEM. WE ASSUME THAT THE GASOLINE IS ACCUMULATING IN THE OIL DURING ENGINE RUNNING USEAGE OF THE VEHICLE; SO INJECTOR SPRAY IS WRONG RATHER THAN A FUEL-LINE LEAK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO FULLY ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR, A WALL, AND INTO THE STEPS NEAR THE MUD ROOM OF THE HOUSE. THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BODY, INCLUDING THE ARMS, HIPS, BACK, AND MINOR BRUISING. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
JUST BOUGHT A NEW 2018 CRV EXL I'VE HAD IT LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND PUT 600 MILES ON IT, THERE WAS A SMELL OF GAS IN THE CABIN WHEN MY WIFE AND CHILD WERE DRIVING IN TOWN. WHEN THEY GOT HOME I REALIZED IT WAS FROM GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL. WHEN THE OIL DIPSTICK WAS CHECKED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS WAS NOTICEABLE AND THE OIL LEVEL READ HIGH ON THE DIPSTICK. TOOK IT TO HONDA THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY AND THEY CONFIRMED WHAT WAS HAPPENING. HONDA DEALER CONTACTED HONDA TECH SUPPORT FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THE ISSUE, 5 DAYS LATER DEALER CALLED AND SAID CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP. ONCE THERE DEALER SAID THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX FOR THE CAR AND HONDA WAS WORKING ON A TSB TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY DID CHANGE THE OIL, BUT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A FEW DAYS I ALREADY SMELL GAS IN THE OIL AGAIN. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE DEALERS HANDS ARE TIED WITH NO FIX AVAILABLE, I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER CARE AND OPENED A CASE WITH THEM. CASE MANAGER HAS YET TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY NEWS. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY FROM SMELLING GAS IN THE CABIN, BUT ALSO FROM GAS IN THE OIL AND POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD IF THE GAS OIL LEVEL BECOMES TO DILUTED.
NOTICED FUEL ODOR IN CAR AND WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS OVERFILLED, I THOUGHT, THEN NOTICED IT RAN OFF THE DIPSTICK LIKE WATER. IT SMELLED LIKE PURE GASOLINE AND WAS RED BROWN IN COLOR. CAR HAS 2054 MILES ON IT. REPORTED TO MY HONDA DEALER AND HAD THE OIL AND FILTER CHANGED. THEY, ROSEBURG HONDA, TOOK MY PROBLEM SERIOUSLY AND BEGAN RESEARCHING ONLINE FOR OTHER INFORMATION IN REFERENCE TO THIS SITUATION.
GAS MIXING IN MY OIL AND MY HEATER QUITS IN THE MORNING AS THE CAR WARMS UP.
MY 2018 HONDA CRV HAS THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE AT MY FIRST OIL CHANGE I ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISER WHY MY OIL LEVEL WAS OVER THE TOP OF THE DIP STICK BY ABOUT 3/4 AN INCH AND THE OIL SMELLED LIKE GAS AND I ALSO ASKED HIM WHY I SMELLED IT IN THE CABIN. HE SAID ANYTHING WAS WRONG IT WAS NORMAL. I CHECKED THE OIL EVERY 1000 MILES AND IT WOULD GO UP 1/8 INCH EVERY 1000 MILES. I TOOK THE CRV BACK THE DEALER BECAUSE THE HEATER WOULD NOT GET WARM AT ALL AT IDLE AND THE SMELL OF GAS WAS TERRIBLE MY GARAGE EVEN HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GAS.THE DEALER TOLD ME I DEFINITELY HAD GAS IN THE OIL AND THE HEATER PROBLEM WAS PART OF THE GAS IN THE OIL ISSUE AND AT THIS TIME HONDA HAD NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE. THEY DID A OIL CHANGE AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD CONTACT ME IF HONDA CAME UP WITH A FIX. IT'S NOW 4 DAYS AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AND THE OIL IS ALREADY OVER THE DIP STICK. I OPENED A CASE WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AFTER TALKING TO THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE I FINALLY TALK TO A CASE MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME GAS IN THE OIL WAS NORMAL AND TO TAKE THE CRV BACK TO THE DEALER IF THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING. HE IS PROTECTING HONDA BECAUSE THEY HAVE A HUGH ISSUE. I DID NOT GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR MANY PEOPLE LIKE ME. PLEASE HELP HONDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS IN THE USA LOOK AT WHAT THEY DID IN CANADA AND CHINA FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THANK YOU!

2018 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A SOFTWARE ISSUE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SOFTWARE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ACCELERATION FUNCTION WOULD MISFIRE. THE SIGNAL FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE ACCELERATION WAS DELAYED OR NON-EXISTENT. *JS

THERE IS GASOLINE LEAKING INTO MY OIL. THERE IS OVER 1 QUART OF OIL IN MY 4 QUART OIL PAN. THE OIL LEVEL ON THE DIP STICK IS 1/2" HIGHER THAN THE MAXIMUM LEVEL ON THE DIPSTICK AND THE OIL REEKS OF GASOLINE. HONDA HAS TRIED, BUT FAILED TO FIX THIS. I CAN SMELL THE GAS IN THE CABIN AND WHEN IT IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I CONTACTED A MAJOR OIL COMPANY IF THE RATIO OF GAS TO OIL WOULD CAUSE A PROBLEM AND HE SAID IT WAS "ALARMING" I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE ODOR OF GAS, SPECIFICALLY THE BENZENE WHICH IS PRESENT IN GASOLINE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE FIRE TOO. WE HAVE HAD THE DEALER CHANGE THE OIL TWO TIMES NOW EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS ALMOST BRAND NEW AND WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE IT'S FIRST OIL CHANGE UNTIL 10K MILES ON IT.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT WANT TO TALK TO THE CONTACT ONCE HE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

WE PURCHASED OUR 2018 HONDA CRV IN AUGUST OF 2018 AND SOON AFTER FOUND OUT SHORTLY AFTER THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL IN THE 1.5 L MODELS IN THE YEARS 2017 AND 2018. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL SOON AFTER THE PURCHASE I NOTICED IT APPEARED TO BE A BIT HIGH ON THE DIPSTICK. I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE OIL MYSELF AT ABOUT 1500 MILES AND FOUND THERE WAS 7.5 QUARTS WHEN THE ACTUAL AMOUNT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 3.7 QUARTS. WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF CHANGING THE OIL I NOTICED THE OIL WAS UP HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK AGAIN SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT WILDE HONDA FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD SOON BE A FIX FOR THE ISSUE AND THEY CHANGED THE OIL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK A COUPLE WEEKS LATER TO HAVE THE FIX DONE TO THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND SOON AFTER FOUND THE OIL HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA SERVICE AGAIN AND THEY CHANGED THE OIL BUT DID NOT CHECK HOW MUCH OIL WAS ACTUALLY IN THE ENGINE. I PULLED OUT OF HONDA SERVICE AND IT IMMEDIATELY APPEARED HIGH ON THE DIPSTICK BUT I WENT HOME WITH THE VEHICLE. I WAITED A WEEK OR SO AND CHANGED THE OIL MYSELF AND CHECKED THE AMOUNT OF OIL WHICH WAS 4.7 QUARTS SO 1 QUART OVER. I CALLED HONDA SERVICE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID THEY CAN DO NO MORE TO HELP AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT HONDA OR GO THROUGH MEDIATION. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH AN ISSUE LIKE THIS AND I SEE IT IS PRETTY WIDESPREAD AND NOT JUST IN THE USA. I GUESS I WILL WORK THROUGH MEDIATION AND SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. WE'D REALLY LIKE TO JUST TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW MODEL THAT DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE TOYOTA RAV4 INSTEAD.

APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY VIOLATION BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH OF OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. RECOMMEND PRIORITY ASSIGNMENT WITH HONDA.
ENGINE OIL SMELLS OF GASOLINE AND BEEN CHANGE TWICE SINCE PURCHASED NEW. CURRENT MILEAGE 4,891 MILES. FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 2,819 MILES, SECOND AT 4,620 MILES. WITHIN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ENGINE OIL STARTS TO SMELL OF GASOLINE. VEHICLE USED LOCALLY AND ON HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING MONDAY, 08/27/18, MY CAR ABRUPTLY APPLIED THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH IN TOWN DRIVING, NOT THE FREEWAY. THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME ABOUT 4 OR SO CAR LENGTHS. THERE WERE CARS TO MY RIGHT AND THE REAR BUT NONE WERE SO CLOSE THAT I WAS IN DANGER OF HITTING THEM NOR THEY HITTING ME. THERE WAS NO AUDIBLE OR VISUAL WARNING ON THE DASH. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOME RESISTANCE WITH THE STEERING BUT UNSURE AT THIS TIME. I'VE LOOKED ON-LINE AND NOTICED THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER DRIVERS AND THERE IS NO FIX. I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM HONDA CARS OF MCKINNEY AND WENT TO SPEAK TO SERVICE DEPT ON 8/30/18, TO SEE WHAT REMEDY THEY CAN SUGGEST. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.
THIS CAR HAS SUFFERED FROM OIL DILUTION WITH GASOLINE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2018. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHO CHANGED THE OIL AT MY EXPENSE AND CLAIMED THAT INCREASING OIL IN THE CRANKCASE IS NORMAL AND SHOULD BE EXPECTED. THE OIL LEVEL INCREASES ABOUT 1 QUART FOR EVERY 2000 MILES DRIVEN AND THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AT ALL AMBIENT TEMPERATURES, AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING IN SHORT TRIPS OR EXTENDED HIGHWAY DRIVES.
THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN IN REVERSE. THE REVERSE SENSORS DO NOT DETECT MOVEMENT, THE CAR DOES AT INTERSECTIONS. A BLUE VERTICAL LINE APPEARS WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE. THE PANEL FREEZES...ALL THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
AT ABOUT 810 MILES ON ODOMETER, I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL AND IT SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER 2 TIMES AND LEFT CAR THERE FOR 3 DAYS THE SECOND TIME. DEALER DROVE IT ABOUT 200 MILES AND WHEN I GOT CAR HOME, THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IN OIL WAS WORSE AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE THE FULL MARK (DUE TO GASOLINE ENTERING INTO ENGINE OIL. THIS POSES A VERY DANGEROUS THREAT OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE ENGINE COULD SEIZE OR THE GASOLINE IN OIL COULD START A FIRE. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT THIS IS NORMAL.

ON 08-10-2018 AFTER JUST GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY ON THE WAY TO A MEETING, THE AUDIO/INFORMATION SCREEN (INFOTAINMENT SCREEN) WENT INTO MALFUNCTION. IT WAS TURNING ITSELF ON AND OFF, AND BEEPING. THERE WAS NO WAY TO TURN THE SCREEN OFF AND NO WAY TO SILENCE THE BEEPING. THE MALFUNCTION CONTINUED NON-STOP UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THIS CAUSED AN EXTREME STATE OF DISTRACTED-DRIVER WHILE ON THE FREEWAY WITH MANY OTHER AUTOMOBILES AROUND.
AFTER DRIVING MY CRV LESS THAN 500 MILES THE OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE THE FULL INDICATOR LINE AND HAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I'VE CHANGED THE OIL THREE TIMES IN JUST UNDER 2000 MILES AND EACH TIME THE OIL LEVEL RISES AGAIN. I'VE ELIMINATED SHORT TRIPS ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO RUN AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AT FULL TEMPERATURE AND THAT HAS DONE NO GOOD. I'VE FOLLOWED HONDA'S SUGGESTION TO DRIVE IT IN SPORT MODE WHICH ALSO HAS DONE NO GOOD. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE AND HAS CONTINUED. I'VE CALLED SEVERAL HONDA DEALERS AND THEY OFFER NO ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN OFFERING AN OIL CHANGE AT $69.99.

THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS SINCE LAST USE. JUMPSTARTED THE VEHICLE WITH A JUMPER CABLE AND WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. AFTER DRIVING THE BATTERY HAD ABOUT ~14 VOLTS READING. THE VEHICLE IS ~10500 MILES UNDER NORMAL USAGE. PURCHASED SEPT 2017. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME WAS ~7-8K MILES.
2018 HONDA CRV-EX - STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN OIL - TOTAL MILEAGE 1600. TOOK CRV TO DEALER TODAY TO CHECK GAS SMELL IN OIL. TECH CONFIRMED STRONG GAS SMELL IN OIL AND VERY BLACK AND RUNNY (THIN WATERY LIKE). THE TECH INDICATED THAT THIS WAS NOT HIS FIRST LIKE EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW CRV - HE SAID HE'D EXPERIENCED OTHER ONES. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER WITH FULL SYNTHETIC OIL. I REQUESTED AND RECEIVED A SAMPLE OF MY OLD OIL ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION. THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT HE HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. ANYWAY, WE WILL CHANGE OUR OIL VERY OFTEN UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS HOPEFULLY, SAFELY RESOLVED. WE'RE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE "FUEL IN OIL" ISSUE.

THE DEALER ALSO NOTICED THAT THE OIL COLOR HAD DARKENED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO REPAIR WAS PRESENTLY AVAILABLE. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND THE FUEL ODOR WAS NO LONGER PRESENT; HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE FUEL ODOR RETURNED AND THE OIL DIP STICK INDICATED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERY HIGH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,100.

THE SEAT BELT LATCHES FOR THE REAR MIDDLE AND REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HAVE A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. THE STRAP FOR THE REAR CENTER SEAT COMES DOWN FROM THE ROOF AND ATTACHES BESIDE THE REAR DRIVERS SEAT LATCH. WHEN YOU PULL THE BELT OVER TO SECURE THE CENTER SEAT BELT IT COVERS THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT LATCH. I UNDERSTAND THE 2017 CRV HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.
WE PURCHASED THE 2018 CR-V AND JULY OF LAST YEAR. AT THAT TIME WE HAD TWO CHILDREN AND EXPECTING A THIRD. WE KNEW ALL THREE KIDDOS WOULD FIT IN THE CRV'S BACKSEAT. WHAT WE CAME TO FIND OUT AFTER NEEDING ALL THREE SEAT BELTS, WE REALIZED THAT THERE CANNOT BE THREE PEOPLE SAFELY BUCKLED AT THE SAME TIME. MAKING OUR 5 PASSENGER CAR REALLY ONLY A FOUR PASSENGER CAR. THE BUCKLES ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THE MIDDLE SIDE ARE CRISS-CROSSED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY TRANSPORT ALL THREE OF OUR CHILDREN AT THE SAME TIME. I'VE CONTACTED HONDA AND OUR DEALERSHIP WITH NO HELP WHATSOEVER. THEY EXPECT ME TO KEEP DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR.
