THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM BRAKING FEATURE ACTIVATED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PLANET HONDA LOCATED AT (2285 US HIGHWAY 22, UNION NJ) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY DIRTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LUTHER BROOKDALE HONDA (LOCATED AT 6800 BROOKLYN BLVD, BROOKLYN CENTER, MN 55429, (612) 424-7830) WHERE FUEL WAS FOUND ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUEL AND OIL DILUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 09533542. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,495. *BF *TR
HAPPENS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND COMMONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. IF YOU USE A USB STICK TO PLAY AUDIO THROUGH THE CAR STEREO WILL TEMPORARILY FREEZE AND REQUIRES YOU TO PRESS THE SCREEN AGAIN TO RESUME THE MUSIC PLAYING. THIS ISN'T MUCH OF A SAFETY CONCERN EXCEPT IF THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE USING THE REAR CAMERA TO BACK UP. THE SCREEN WILL STOP SHOWING A LIVE FEED AND JUST SHOW WHAT IS SHOWING WHEN IT FROZE. PEOPLE MAY NOT NOTICE THAT THE PICTURE ISN'T LIVE AND CONTINUE THINKING THAT EVERYTHING IS CLEAR BEHIND THEM. THANKS TO GOV'T REAR CAMERAS ARE BEING REQUIRED. THIS ISSUE I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING SADLY LESSENS THE SAFETY OF A CAR RATED AS A TOP SAFETY PICK BY YOUR ORGANIZATION (NOT BLAMING YOU FOR NOT NOTICING IT) 7/26/19 I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH HONDA OF PRINCETON WHO WASN'T ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE NOR DID THEY INSTILL CONFIDENCE THAT THEY'D BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS EXPLAINS THE DELAY IN REPORTING TO YOU. I SPOKE WITH HONDA 12/26/19 (CASE 10111741) AND THEY SAID THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND DIDN'T HAVE A FIX AT THE TIME. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVER SINCE WE GOT THE CAR. WE HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT USB DRIVES WITHOUT SUCCESS. I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN APPLYING PRESSURE FOR A FIX TO BE ISSUED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!
TAKATA RECALL. I HAD SAT THROUGH A RED LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE LIGHT GAVE ME A GREEN ARROW. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND THE AT FAULT DRIVER RAN THE RED LIGHT AND HIT ME IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. MY HEAD HIT THE WINDOW AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AS I WAS COMING OFF THE WINDOW. I WAS PINNED BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND THE AIRBAG. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEFLATE UNTIL SOMEONE FOUND A POCKET KNIFE TO CUT IT SO I COULD SIT UP. RESULTING INJURIES WERE TO MY HEAD, NECK, AND RIBS.
I HAVE THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM WITH MY 2018 CR-V. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, BRAND NEW. I CURRENTLY HAVE 9000 MILES AND HAD TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED FOUR TIMES DUE TO GAS MIXING WITH THE OIL, STRONG GAS ODOR AND OIL OVER FULL. I HAVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON AT ONCE AND CYCLING OVER AND OVER, THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. I CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE AND NO HARM WILL COME TO MY ENGINE. I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.
NEW 2018 CR-V WAS PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY. WITH SOME REPORTED ISSUES WITH OIL DILUTION REPORTED ON 2017 CR-V MODELS I KEPT A CLOSE WATCH ON THE OIL LEVEL. NO ISSUE BEFORE OR AFTER THE 1ST OIL CHANGE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. (6000MILES) THIS WEEK AFTER A RANDOM CHECK ON THE OIL LEVEL I DISCOVERED IT WAS WAY ABOVE THE NORMAL LEVEL OIL LEVEL WITH DEFINITE GASOLINE SMELL. I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE OVER (10000 MILES) AFTER COMPREHENSIVE TESTING INCLUDING EACH INDIVIDUAL CYLINDER THEY COULD FIND NO ISSUES. (HONDA TECH LINE WAS INVOLVED)THE DEALER SERVICE REP COMMENTED THAT THEY HAD NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I WAS GIVEN A FREE OIL/FILTER CHANGE AND SENT ON MY WAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO WORK AFTER THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN HOME (40 MILES TOTAL APPROX.) AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT I CHECKED THE DIPSTICK TODAY AND THE LEVEL IS RIGHT WHERE THE ORANGE PLASTIC INDICATOR PIECE MEETS THE METAL DIPSTICK. ALREADY ABOVE NORMAL AGAIN. OIL WAS VERY SOUPY DRIPPING FROM DIPSTICK (NORMAL 0-20W OIL DOES NOT DO THIS) SO JUST OVERNIGHT THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED, NOT IN A COLD CLIMATE. NO EXCESSIVE IDLING SINCE YESTERDAY AFTER THE OIL CHANGE. I THINK THE REASON MORE PEOPLE HAVE NOT REPORTED THIS IS MANY HAVE NOT CHECKED THEIR DIPSTICK/ OIL LEVEL. AND WHY WOULD YOU IF YOU ARE DRIVING A NEW CAR. OIL IS BREAKING DOWN THE LUBRICATION OF THE OIL. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY FOR A CAR WITH A TURBO WHICH DEPENDS ON THAT OIL. TICKING TIME BOMB FOR HONDA AND SADLY FOR ME AS WELL.
WENT TO START THE CAR, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION BUT THE KEY DID NOT TURN, I THOUGHT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED ON ME BUT THAT WAS MOT THE CASE, THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE AFTER 5 DAYS STILL REMAINS. THEY EXPLAIN THAT THE KEY CYLINDER COMPONENT IS BAD AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. WAITING FOR THE PART AND ALL LOCKS IN THE CAR HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
PURCHASED CAR NEW IN JANUARY 2018. NOTICED HEAT DIDN'T GET VERY WARM, AND WOULD COOL OFF AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, OR ON A DOWNHILL. WINTER IN DELAWARE WAS NOT SEVERE IN JANUARY. AROUND 2200 MILES, I CHECKED MY OIL, FOUND IT ABOUT A HALF QUART HIGH, AND SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. OIL IS ALSO VERY DARK, NEARLY BLACK. 1/2 QUART EXTRA GASOLINE IN OIL SUMP OF 3.7 QUARTS, MEANS ABOUT 12% OF THE OIL WAS GASOLINE. THIS PRESENTS 2 MAJOR DANGERS: FIRE HAZARD FROM EXCESS GASOLINE IN OIL, AND ENGINE FAILURE, DUE TO LACK OF PROPER LUBRICATION. I'VE BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO HONDA TWICE, AND 2400 & 4000 MILES, BOTH TIMES, THEY CONTACTED HONDA TECHLINE, AND PROVIDED AN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE FREE OF CHARGE. I AM MINIMIZING MY USE OF THIS VEHICLE, HOPING HONDA WILL PORT "THE CHINA SOLUTION" TO THE US SOON. AS HONDA DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM IN THE US OR CANADA, IT WILL LIKELY BE UP TO THE REGULATORS OR LAWYERS TO FORCE THEM TO TAKE THE PROBLEM SERIOUSLY. NHTSA - PLEASE STEP UP, REQUIRE A SOLUTION, BEFORE WE START FINDING BURNING HONDAS ON THE ROADSIDE.
ENGINE SOUNDS - CAR IS UNDER 3,000 MILES AS OF NOV. 2018. PURCHASED JUNE 2018. AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT WORK RIGHT AFTER JUNE 2018 PURCHASE. RETURNED 3 TIMES TO GET REPAIRED AND EVER SINCE THIS "REPAIR) TO FIX THE A/C, THE ENGINE HAS BEEN VERY LOUD ON ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP OR TO INCREASE SPEED WHEN AT A LOW SPEED. DO NOT RECALL THIS LOUD ENGINE AT PURCHASE. LOUD ENGINE SOUNDS DISAPPEAR AT CRUISE. HAD IT TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS PURPOSE AND THE DEALER (SALMON, REPAIR DEPARTMENT HAVE STATED, "NOTHING WRONG, THIS IS THE WAY THE NEW CRV TURBO ENGINES SOUND).
I LIVE IN A TEMPERATE CLIMATE AND USE THIS VEHICLE PREDOMINANTLY FOR SHORT, SIDE STREET TRIPS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN ECONOMY MODE (ECON BUTTON). WHEN USED SOLELY IN THIS MANOR FOR A PERIOD OF MONTHS, THE OIL AND EXHAUST HAVE A STRONG STENCH OF UNBURNED GASOLINE. THE FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN THAT BUILD UP IN BETWEEN VEHICLE USES CAN GET VERY STRONG. SO MUCH SO THAT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AFTER GETTING INTO THE CAR I FELT DIZZY, DISORIENTED AND SICK TO MY STOMACH. A VEHICLE THAT CAN BUILD UP NOXIOUS FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN THAT MAKE YOU DISORIENTED AND SICK IS NOT SAFE OR HEALTHY. IF A DRIVER IS UNAWARE THAT THEIR STATE OF MIND HAS BEEN ALTERED BY THE FUMES (DUI?), IT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE. NOT ONLY SHOULD NHTSA OPEN AN SAFETY INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER, BUT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND HEALTH STUDIES SHOULD BE CONDUCTED BY THE EPA TO ASCERTAIN WHAT OTHER HAZARDS ARE AT PLAY HERE. DATE OF INCIDENT AND MILEAGE LISTED IS ARBITRARY, AS THIS IS AN ONGOING SAFETY HAZARD.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WEST BOUND IN THE MORNING, NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT, IT WAS AN OVERCAST DAY. I HAD THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON. FOR NO REASON AT ALL MY CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, DID A MODERATE NOSE DIVE AND LOCKED MY SEAT BELT. NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER. THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR FOR AT LEAST A 1/4 TO 1/2 MILE IN FRONT OF ME. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME. I QUICKLY DISENGAGED THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND FLOORED THE GAS, AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT FROM THE REAR. I HAD THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH A 2016 HONDA CIVIC TOURING, AND EVERY TIME I REPORTED IT, THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BLAME SUNLIGHT, EVEN IF THERE WAS NONE WHEN IT HAPPENED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
OVERFILLED OIL LEVEL WITH GAS.
MY 2018 HONDA CRV TOURING WITH 1.5L TURBO ENGINE HAD HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SMELL OF FUEL FUMES IN THE INTERIOR CABIN SINCE THE TIME OF PURCHASE. WHEN YOU TURN THE AIR ON WITH THE AIR COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE VENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, THE SMELL OF GASOLINE FUMES IS APPARENT, WHICH IS ALSO A SERIOUS HEALTH SAFETY CONCERN AS INHALATION OF FUMES IS DEFINITELY BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH. EVERY TIME I CHECK MY OIL LEVEL, THE DIPSTICK SHOWS THE OIL IS OVERFILLED BEYOND WHAT THE DIPSTICK MEASURES AND THE OIL SMELLS HEAVILY OF GAS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY 5TH GENERATION CRV OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE 1.5L TURBO ENGINE WITH TOO MUCH GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL AND THE SMELL OF FUMES IN THE CABIN. THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING MY OIL LEVEL TO RISE TO UNSAFE LEVELS THAT WILL ACCELERATE THE DETERIORATION OF EXPENSIVE INTERNAL ENGINE COMPONENTS. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY PERFORMED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLITEN RELATED TO THIS ISSUE ON DECEMBER 4TH 2018, WHERE A MODULE RELATED TO THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE ENGINE OIL AND SOME SOFTWARE UPGRADE WAS INSTALLED. THIS CHANGED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I STILL AM EXPERIENCING THE SICKENING SMELL OF GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN AS WELL AS THE DIPSTICK SHOWING MORE OIL THAN IT CAN MEASURE ALONG WITH THE SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE OIL.
I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD CRV. SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN FEB 2018, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE BLUETOOTH HANDS-FREE CALLING FUNCTION. I CAN HEAR CALLS FINE, BUT THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END CANNOT HEAR ME DUE TO BACKGROUND/AMBIENT NOISE. THE ISSUE IS SPECIFICALLY EXACERBATED BY SPEED - 40 MPH AND ABOVE, GETTING WORSE AS I DRIVE FASTER. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO FIDDLE WITH MY PHONE TO TAKE THE CALL OFF BLUETOOTH. OBVIOUSLY NOT IDEAL FOR SAFETY. FURTHERMORE, I MADE A 911 CALL ON JULY 4, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE 911 OPERATOR COULD NOT HEAR ME!! I HAD TO ONCE AGAIN TAKE THE PHONE OFF BLUETOOTH IN ORDER TO BE HEARD. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO HONDA DIRECTLY AND TO MY DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. THE SERVICE CENTER ALSO CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING THE ISSUE, AND WERE ADVISED BY HONDA ENGINEERS TO REPLACE THE MICROPHONE, WHICH THEY HAVE DONE. NEVERTHELESS, THE ISSUE PERSISTS.
I purchased a Honda CRV in 2018, and from the first day of driving it home, my dashboard displayed numerous warning signs. I immediately returned to the dealer, where they diagnosed and claimed to fix the issue. The vehicle ran fine for a couple of months, but the same problem reoccurred at least twice within the next six months. Each time, I scheduled an appointment with the dealership, and they assured me that all issues were resolved. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to use my vehicle for two years. Over the past 12 months, the same issue has resurfaced. When I approached the dealer, they refused to repair it, citing that the vehicle is now out of warranty. This issue has persisted since day one and was never truly resolved, occurring intermittently. I have opened multiple cases with Honda America and worked with them for nearly six months. Despite this, I have not received any clear communication or resolution. They claim to have discussed the issue with the dealership and local Honda representatives, but always return with the same response: the case is denied. The Honda America agent insists there is nothing wrong despite the warning signs. The major concern is that when these warnings appear, I am unable to use advanced features like cruise control and lane change assistance. My teenage daughter, who also drives this vehicle, becomes panicked and frightened whenever these warnings appear. I urgently need help from your team to resolve this issue, as both the Honda dealers and local representatives have been unresponsive to my claims. Thank you for your assistance. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKE, TPMS, PARK, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, AND SEVERAL OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH MILLS HONDA (8465 MN HWY 210, BAXTER, MN 56425, (218) 825-7525) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE ENGINE OIL HAS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AND GETS DIRTY SOON AFTER AN OIL CHANGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY CAME TO A STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA HONDA IN MEDFORD (4095 CRATER LAKE HWY, MEDFORD, OR 97504, (541) 930-3021) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 700.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE HONDA HARD BRAKED BY ITSELF, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IF I DIDN'T HAVE MY SEAT BELT ON, I WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND, OR I COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS MOVING, WHEN IT SUDDENLY STOPPED BY ITSELF VERY ABRUPTLY AND VERY HARD. THIS HAPPENED ON A SMALL STREET WITH NO OTHER CARS PRESENT.
ISSUES WITH CHARGER UNDER RADIO. I'VE BROUGHT IT IN. THE FUZE BLEW. ISSUES WITH PANDORA NOT SYNCING AND BROUGHT IT IN MORE THAN ONCE. MAJOR ISSUES WITH MY SCREEN BUGGING OUT WITH LEVELS OF THE SCREEN BRIGHTENS BUT IT MAKES A NOISE LIKE THE SCREEN IS BEING TAPPED AND IT'S NOT. ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TURN CAR ON AND OFF. SIDE MIRROR REAR VISIBILITY, PARTICULARLY THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE, IS DANGEROUSLY LOW. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN PREPARING TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE, ONE CAN NOT SEE THE WHITE LINES TO GUIDE YOU IN. OUR PREVIOUS 3RD GENERATION (2007-2011) CRV HAD SUPERB SIDE MIRROR VISIBILITY. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT HONDA'S DANGEROUS AND INCONVENIENT DESIGN FLAW IS TO OFFER "REVERSE TILT DOOR MIRRORS", WHICH AUTOMATICALLY TILT DOWNWARD WHEN REVERSING. IRONICALLY, HONDA, OFFERS THIS FEATURE IN OTHER COUNTRY MARKETS, BUT NOT ON ANY US MARKET CRV TRIM LEVELS. THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR APPEARS TO BE EXCESSIVELY ANGLED BACK, NOT STANDING OUT ADEQUATELY TO ALLOW A CLEAR VIEW ALONG THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. AS A RESULT, I CAN ONLY SEE THE CAR'S BULBOUS (OUTWARDLY CURVED) RIGHT SIDE. THE LEFT SIDE MIRROR CAN/MUST BE MANUALLY LOWERED TO SEE WHERE ONE IS BACKING, WHICH MOST PEOPLE WON'T DO, AMOUNTING TO A SAFETY HAZARD. AS FOR THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR, ATTACHED AT A SEVERE BACKSWEPT ANGLE, IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TILT IT DOWNWARD AND SEE THE REARWARD PATH. I'M EXTREMELY TROUBLED OVER THIS GLARING SAFETY ISSUE. VISIBILITY IS A KEY ELEMENT TO SAFE DRIVING, AND AM SHOCKED THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED.
THE TURN SIGNALS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE TURN SIGNALS FLASHING LIGHTS WORK, BUT THERE IS NO CLICKING SOUND. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN CHANGING LANES ON A HIGHWAY. I AM OFTEN UNAWARE THAT THE TURN SIGNALS ARE STILL ENGAGED.
THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SELECTOR HAS NO INDICATOR ON IT. ADDITIONALLY, DEPENDING ON ANGLE DRIVER IS SITTING, IT APPEARS TO BE IN A DIFFERENT GEAR OR POSITION THAN ACTUAL SELECTION. I HAVE HAD THREE NEAR MISSES DUE TO THIS DESIGN. FROM BEING IN NEUTRAL AND ROLLING DOWN HILL BACKWARDS WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD IT IN DRIVE, TO BEING IN NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF PARK. AFTER 30 YEARS OF DRIVING, THIS IS THE FIRST CAR I'VE DRIVEN THAT HAD NO INFICTATOR TO SHOW WHAT GEAR I WAS IN.
GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL AND THE ENGINE DOES NOT HEAT UP UNTIL MANY MILES OF DRIVING IN 40 DEGREE TEMPERATURES, DIP STICK IS SHOWING OVER FULL ALL THE TIME AND STILL NO FIX
RISING OIL LEVEL DUE TO CONTAMINATION OF OIL WITH FUEL AND WATER, 2018 HONDA CRV EX. ON JUNE 18, 2018, WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL, EVERY COMPUTER ASSISTED WARNING UNEXPECTEDLY EVENTED ON THE DASH (HILL ASSIST, ACC, COLLISION MITIGATION, BRAKE SYSTEM, CEL, TPMS, ROAD DEPARTURE, TRACTION, POWER STEERING, VSA), THE CRV IMMEDIATELY AND HARSHLY SELF-BRAKED (OUT OF THE CONTROL OF THE DRIVER). THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT THIS OCCURRED DUE TO THE OIL LEVEL IN THE DIRECT-INJECTED EARTH DREAMS 1.5L REACHING A LEVEL OF 21MM ABOVE THE CURRENT LIMIT (THE RESOLUTION GIVEN BY HONDA TECH-LINE WAS TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER EVERY 500 MILES). HAD MY WIFE BEEN FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE SHE CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED, INJURED AND POSSIBLY KILLED. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE DIRECT-INJECTED 1.5L EARTH DREAMS TURBO ENGINE. HONDA HAS NO FIX FOR IT, AND CAN ONLY RECOMMEND THAT WE CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 500 MILES. TO DATE, SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE ON 6/18/2018, WE'VE HAD THE CRV BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER AN AVERAGE OF EVERY 2 WEEKS (7/5/2018, 7/19/2018, AND 8/3/2018). WE'LL BE RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP BY 8/17/2018 FOR YET ANOTHER OIL AND FILTER CHANGE, THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, WHEN UNDER CRUISE CONTROL, DUE TO THE OIL CONTAMINATION, THE RISING OIL LEVEL, CAUSING THE UNEXPECTED FIRING OF COMPUTER ASSISTED FEATURES.
I WAS PULLING MY HONDA CRV INTO A SHORT DRIVEWAY TO PARK IN FRONT OF A CLOSED GARAGE DOOR. MY SPEED WAS LESS THAN 5 MPH. AS I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY WITHIN 5-6 FEET OF THE CLOSED GARAGE DOOR, THE ENGINE REVVED AND CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I COULD NO LONGER FEEL THE ACCELERATOR DIRECTLY UNDER MY FOOT AND APPLYING THE BRAKE DID NOTHING TO STOP THE CAR. ACCELERATION CONTINUED, CAR WENT THROUGH GARAGE DOOR AND CRASHED INTO CONCRETE WALL AT THE BACK OF THE GARAGE. NOT SURE WHAT SPEED THE CAR WAS TRAVELING WHEN CRASH OCCURRED. GIVEN THE SHORT DISTANCE, MAYBE 20-30 MPH. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. NO ISSUE WITH FLOOR MATS OR OTHER OBJECTS NEAR THE ACCELERATOR.
FOR THE SECOND TIME, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET.
GASOLINE WAS CONTAMINATING THE OIL AND CAUSING AN OVERFILLED CRANKCASE CONDITION. ON OCCASION GASOLINE FUMES ENTERED THE CABIN IN JANUARY A HONDA "FIX" WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER AS PART OF A HONDA NOTIFICATION. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND A NEW FILTER INSTALLED AT THE SAME TIME. SINCE THEN, THE OIL LEVEL HAS BEEN CONTINUOUSLY MONITORED WITH THE SAME OVER FULL CONTAMINATION AND GASOLINE FUME PROBLEMS IN EXISTENCE. THE HONDA "FIX" DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BOTH THE DEALER AND HONDA HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CONTINUING PROBLEM HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED, BUT NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN OFFERED OR DISCUSSED, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE TOOK DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE IN JUNE 2018.
WHILE EITHER DRIVING VEHICLE OR THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WHILE USING NAVIGATION, MUSIC, ETCETERA FROM INFOTAINMENT SCREEN, WILL EITHER REBOOT OR GO BLANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE WE HAVE TAKEN POSSESSION OF THE CAR IN APRIL 2018.

HONDA 1.5 TURBO ENGINE IS GETTING ABNORMAL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE AND WATER IN THE OIL. MY LAST OIL CHANGE WITH MOBIL 1 WAS JET BLACK AFTER 4,300 MILES OF USE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 5,000 MILES, THE OWNER'S MANUAL SAYS 10,000 MILES. THE MOBIL 1 ENGINE OIL HAS BROKEN DOWN BEFORE 5,000 MILES.
ON A CITY STREET, AFTER SLOW ACCELERATION AFTER LEAVING A STOP SIGN,WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM SUDDENLY ENGAGED AND HARD BRAKED THE CAR. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR I FEAR I MIGHT HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED! ALSO I AM CONCERNED THAT HONDA HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THE EARTHDREAM TURBO 1.5 ENGINE CAUSING GASOLINE TO ENTER THE OIL. I LIVE IN MARYLAND, USA AND HONDA HAS DONE RECALLS IN CHINA AND NOW CANADA TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS POOR HEATING, BUT NOT IN THE USA. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE IN THE FUTURE LONG AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND HONDA WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY! AFTER MUCH LOBBYING/BEGGING(TO THE DEALER AND HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE) FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE ADDRESSED/FIXED, HONDA SENT OUT A FIELD ENGINEER TO EVALUATE, WHO TEST DROVE MY CAR AND 2 OTHER NEW LOT 2018 CR-V CARS, FOUND MIRROR VIBRATION AND BLURRINESS IN ALL CARS WITH SOME VARIABILITY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF VIBRATION/BLURRINESS, OR "TOLERANCE" EXPECTED, UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED WITHIN A TOLERABLE RANGE. OFFERED TO REPLACE MY MIRROR ASSEMBLY WITH ANOTHER NEW CAR MIRROR ON THE LOT WHICH APPEARED TO VIBRATE LESS(BUT STILL WITH SOME BLURRINESS AT TIMES) WHICH I DID--SOME IMPROVEMENT BUT STILL SEE SOME MIRROR VIBRATION/BLURRINESS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER AND THEY TEST DROVE CAR.REPORT SAYS "VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE TILL REACHES7PH THEN DROP TO IDLE SPEED.THIS IS VEHICLE NORMAL OPERATION CONDITION.NO REPAIR NEEDED."THEY SAID ALL SYSTEMS ARE AT FACTORY SETTINGS.I'VE OWNED CARS FOR 55 YRS. TODAY, I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY AND SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED. VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD AND THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR IMPACT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS BREAKAGE. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY INFANT SON WHEN THIS OCCURRED. LUCKILY, I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED.
THIS VEHICLE HAS "PUSH TO START". IF THE BUTTON IS NOT PRESSED BEFORE LEAVING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN. I FORGOT TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AFTER PULLING INTO THE GARAGE, AND I HAD TO GO BACK INTO THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. THE AUTOMAKER NEEDS TO ADD AN OPTION TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE WHEN THE FOB MOVES AT LEAST 5 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. THEY ALREADY OFFER A FEATURE TO LOCK THE CAR WHEN THE FOB MOVES AT LEAST 5 FEET AWAY, SO MUCH OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND TESTED.
ENGINE OIL CONTAMINATION WHEN THE OIL DIP STICK WAS PULLED, THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMING OUT OF THE DIP STICK HOLE, AND IT SHOWED THE OIL WAS OVERFILLED WITH FACTORY OIL IN THE ENGINE. IT WAS OVERFILLED BY AT LEAST 1/4 INCH. WHEN THE ENGINE OIL WAS DRAINED DURING THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5827 MILES, THE OIL HAD A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. THE OIL SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS ALMOST NO VISCOSITY LEFT, AND DRAINED LIKE WATER OUT OF THE CRANKCASE. THE ENGINE OIL WAS DILUTED WITH GASOLINE.
ENGINE OIL IS BEING CONTAMINATED WITH GASOLINE. NOTICEABLE SYMPTOMS ARE STRONG SMELL OF GAS OUTSIDE AND INSIDE VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE IS WARM, INCREASING OIL LEVEL AND OIL VISCOSITY LOSS. PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AFTER 1000 MI OF VEHICLE USE.

Issues started in 2018 when it was bought. Before the first oil change dipstick oil level keep going 1 inch over the max level. Exhaust smells gas. Dealership said it’s nothing. Keeps happening over and over. Dealership made a recall fix but fix didn’t help. One day while on a trip, suddenly all lights warning display come on the dash, engine lost power, had to make emergency roadside stop. After a while of sputtering, car run ok until I got into a gas station and bought chevron Techron. Engine running good enough to travel. Warning lights still going off all the time. Went to dealership, they said it was bad fuel and told me to use premium. The warning light came off. Fuel level still go 1 over dipstick max line and exhaust smell gas. Dealership it’s not a fuel dilution issue. warning light ssues linger on and off and too much oil in the dipstick and gas smelling issues never got. resolved. Last year I was told I need the fuel injectors changed but was told self pay as not covered by warranty. I argued that it should be covered as issues started on my first oil change. Dealership said they’ll order new injectors but it’s not changed up to now. Yesterday car lost power again, all dash warning light are on . I wrote Honda USA a year ago but didn’t get a reply.

I WAS SHOCKED THAT IT ACTUALLY DID SMELL, BUT IT DIDN'T JUST SMELL A LITTLE. IT SMELLED LIKE WHEN YOU GET GASOLINE ON YOUR HANDS. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE PAPER TOWEL IN HAND. EVERY SALESPERSON AND TECHNICIAN I HANDED THE PAPER TOWEL TO CONFIRMED THE OIL FROM THE DIPSTICK THAT WAS WIPED ON THE TOWEL SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE. THEY ARE REVIEWING THE PROBLEM,AND HAVE DECIDED TO SPEND MORE TIME LOOKING AT IT DUE TO MY CONCERNS. SOUNDS MORE SERIOUS, BUT I DON'T WANT TO ASSUME. I AM CONCERNED THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS KNOWN IN CHINA AND JAPAN WILL GROW TO BE LIKE THE OTHER COMPLAINTS REGISTERED WITH THE NHSTA. CHINA HAS HALTED SALES OF THE CR-V UNTIL THEY CAN DETERMINE A REASONABLE FIX. APPARENTLY A RECALL TO ADJUST SOFTWARE TIMINGS WAS NOT ENOUGH. ALSO SHOULD MENTION HONDA CANADA IS MONITORING THIS AND SENT A BULLETIN TO THEIR DEALERS.
SUDDEN ACCELERATION. HAD FOOT ON THE BRAKE IN A PARKING SPOT, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE ENGINE RACED AND THE CAR PROPELLED FORWARD, JUMPED THE CURB AND STOPPED WHEN HITTING A TREE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT TOUCHED, AND THE BRAKED DID NOT HOLD IT. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. HONDA HAS DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS, AND 1800 MILES. OBVIOUSLY, THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. NOW WE ARE AFRAID TO GET THE CAR, SINCE SOMEONE MAY BE KILLED THE NEXT TIME THE CAR DECIDES TO ACT UP. The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle accelerated even though consumer was not depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact also stated that the touch screen display would not engage and allow the contact to use the screen. The contact also stated that the high beam headlights would independently flicker on and off. Additionally, the automatic cruise control warning light was illuminated on the control panel. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,466.
