THE DESIGN OF THE HEADLIGHTS INCORPORATES SEPARATE (FROM LENS) CHROME TRIM PIECES THAT ARE SPEAR-LIKE IN SHAPE. THE POINTED ENDS OF THE SPEARS DO NOT SIT FLUSH IN THE HEADLIGHT LENS AND ARE PROTRUDING. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE CONDITION EVERY TIME THE CAR IS WASHED & DRIED, AND WHEN USING A 'DUSTER' ON THE VEHICLE. WASH MITTS GET STUCK BEHIND THE SPEARS WHICH PULL THE SPEARS OUT MORE, INCREASING THE HAZARD TO ONE'S HAND. WHILE I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY ACTUAL LACERATIONS FROM THESE SPEARS TO DATE, ON MAY 13, 2018 MY HAND RECEIVED A 'WELT' FROM THE SPEAR. PICTURE ATTACHED FOR REFERENCE.
THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2018 HONDA CRV, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE KEEPING ASSISTANCE AND LANE DEPARTURE MITIGATION THE VEHICLE STARTED BRAKING AND THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK AND THEN ALL THE WARNINGS WENT ACROSS THE DASHBOARD FOR EXAMPLE: BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PROBLEM, PARK WARNING, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WARNING, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST WARNING TO NAME A FEW. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW. THE TECHNICIANS HAVE TRIED SEVERAL RESETS BUT EVERY TIME WE GET THE CAR BACK IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE ON A CITY STREET, I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN. I HAVE SINCE READ ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITES WHERE OTHER CR-V OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND THERE IS AN OIL DILUTION PROBLEM. EVERY TIME I CHECK THE OIL LEVEL, I CAN SMELL GAS ON THE DIPSTICK. I AM AWARE HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL IN CHINA FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THEY NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN THE U.S. AS WELL AND DO IT IMMEDIATELY.
VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CAR AND STANDING BESIDE THE CAR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AFTER REFUELING AT GAS STATION. I DID NOT SEE ANY SPILLED GAS OR ANY LEAKS. SMELL GOT WORSE INSIDE THE CAR ON THE 3 MILE DRIVE HOME AND WAS VERY STRONG WHEN I PULLED INTO THE GARAGE. I CHECKED AGAIN ABOUT AN HOUR LATER AND THE SMELL HAD DECREASED ABOUT 50%.
AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE ON A CITY STREET, I NOTICED A GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN. UPON ADDITIONAL RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT OTHER CR-V OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION WITH OIL DILUTION (GAS GETTING MIXED IN WITH OIL). WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL, THE LEVEL WAS OVER WHAT IS SHOULD BE AND THE DIPSTICK SMELLED OF GAS.
LEFT HOUSE TO FIND ALL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THE SUN ROOF PARTIALLY OPENED. THE KEY FOB WAS ON THE DRESSER IN THE HOUSE. CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE.
OIL DILUTION IN THE ENGINE! GAS FUMES SMELL IN THE CABIN DUE TO IT!
DOOR ACTUATOR IN RIGHT REAR DOOR KEEPS DOOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. REPORTED TO HONDA, PURCHASED VEHICLE USED
OIL IS BEING DILUTED BY BLOW-BY GAS FROM COMBUSTION CHAMBERS.
OIL ON DIPSTICK SMELLS LIKE GAS. THE CAR CABIN SMELLS LIKE GAS AND IT BASICALLY STINKY UNLESS THE CAR WINDOWS ARE OPEN. GARAGE ALSO SMELLS LIKE GAS WHEN CAR IS PARKED.
2018 HONDA CRV HAS OIL DILUTED BY GAS AND CAUSES THE CRANKCASE OIL TO BE OVERFILLED. ALSO SMELL OF RAW GAS IN CABIN. DEALER HAS NO FIX. I GOT THEM TO DO THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE BUT NO CHANGE. PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN APRIL 2018 AND IMMEDIATELY HAD THE ABOVE MENTION PROBLEMS. HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND NO IMPROVEMENT. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE AND SAFETY TO CAR WITH THAT MUCH GAS IN THE OIL
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL DASH WARNING LIGHTS CONCERNING THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM CAME ON WITH MALFUNCTION WARNINGS, PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED THE MOTOR OFF, THEN RESTARTED THE MOTOR AND THE WARNINGS WENT OFF. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER FOR CODES, THERE WERE NONE. MY QUESTION, IS THIS CAR SAFE TO DRIVE AND IS HONDA MOTOR COMPANY WORKING ON THIS ISSUE. WHEN LOOKING AT THE HONDA FORUMS ONLINE IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF THE 2017 AND 2018 CRV'S. I DON'T LIKE PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TRYING TO GET THE COMPUTER TO REBOOT. MY HONDA SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT WE WOULD MONITOR THE PROBLEM BEFORE MY NEXT OIL CHANGE THAT I'D DUE IN OCTOBER 2018. AGAIN, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HONDA MOTOR IS AWARE OF AN ISSUE THAT IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR A FAMILY TO BE PUT IN.
WE HAD A HORRIBLE SITUATION LAST NIGHT WHEN WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. OUR HONDA CRV 2018 EXL WHICH IS NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS OLD,BRAND NEW,STARTED SHAKING AND WOBBLING AND STOPPED IN THE MID ROAD.ALL THE SAFETY SYSTEMS FAILED AND THERE WERE WARNINGS ON THE DASHBOARD, BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PROBLEM, ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM,ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM,COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, LANE KEEPING ASSIST PROBLEM,ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM,HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM,ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM,POWER STEERING SYSTEM PROBLEM, YOU NAME IT.EVERYTHING WENT WRONG.WE HAD A BABY IN THE CAR SEAT BEHIND AND COULD HAVE ENDED UP IN AN ACCIDENT.ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES FAILED.HONDA DOESNT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR IT. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR IN THE HIGHWAY IF IT SUDDENLY STOPS AND WHAT IF WE GET HIT BY CAR OR TRUCK BEHIND US.HONDA HAS NO SOLUTION.
I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL THE OIL DAY AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS WELL ABOVE THE "FULL" MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. I ALSO NOTICED THAT IT WAS NOT AS VISCOUS AS IT SHOULD BE AND THAT IT SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 1123 MILES ON IT.
GAS IS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE OIL CAUSING OIL VISCOSITY LOSS. IT IS ALSO CAUSING TO MUCH FLUID IN THE OIL PAN AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING ENGINE INTERNALS WITH TO MUCH FLUID AND LOSS OF LUBRICATION. ENGINE DOES NOT REACH OPERATING TEMPERATURE IN COLD WEATHER, CAUSING POOR PERFORMANCE AND NOT HEAT FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM.
ENGINE OIL CONTAMINATION BY INCOMPLETE COMBUSTION OF GASOLINE IN CYLINDER. VOLUME OF OIL BECOMES OVER FULL. PRODUCES "GASOLINE SMELL" AND DIMINISHES THE EFFICIACY OF ENGINE OIL LUBRICATION.
GASOLINE ODOR IN VEHICLE, GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 16 MILES ON IT; I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. IT LEAKED OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID ALL OVER MY GARAGE AND WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. I HAD A SIGNIFICANT OIL AND TRANSMISSION LEAK. HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO BE REPAIRED. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN WHERE IT DUMPED ALL THE OIL OUT OF THE ENGINE, AND THEY HAD TO FIX IT FOR A SECOND TIME. THEY INFORMED ME THERE WASN'T ANY OIL LEFT IN MY ENGINE AND THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER AN OIL CHANGE.THEY SAID THIS NEVER HAPPENS, BUT IT DID TWICE. MY 36,000-MILE WARRANTY IS ALMOST UP, AND I HAVE A FEELING THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. LAST TIME IT LEAKED, IT TOOK THEM THREE MONTHS TO FIX IT. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST NEW CAR EVER. IT'S A SHAME I BOUGHT A LEMON, AND I'M PAYING MONTHLY FOR IT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE MY CAR START LIGHT ALWAYS BLINKS ON AND OFF ALSO, AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. ALSO, MY TOUCHSCREEN HAS FROZEN AND LET THE RADIO ON FULL BLAST WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WOULDN'T SHUT OFF ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. *TR
OIL LEVEL RISES AND SMELLS OF GASOLINE. THE PICTURE PROVIDED SHOWS OIL ABOVE FULL LINE AND ONLY HAS 400 MILES SINCE OIL CHANGE. AS MORE MILES ARE DRIVEN, I WILL TAKE ADDITIONAL PICTURES.
PROBLEM WITH GASOLINE MIXING IN WITH THE ENGINE OIL. TOOK TO DEALER FOR RECALL AND PROBLEM IS WORSE. DEALER ADVISED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA CORP AND THE NHTSA.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 25 THE HEATER DOES NOT HEAT UNLESS YOU DRIVE ABOVE 50 MPH YOU CAN LET THE CAR IDLE FOR 30 MIN AND NO HEAT. I THINK THE THERMOSTAT IS STUCK OPEN. HAVE TAKEN IT TO HONDA 104 AND FEDERAL IN WESTMINSTER WHERE THE CAR WAS BOUGHT AND THEY SAID TOO BAD.
PURCHASED NEW HONDA CR-V 2018. OIL HAS GASOLINE ENTERING CRANKCASE AND AN ODOR OF GASOLINE IS EVIDENT. HONDA SENT RECALL AND I HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED AND IT HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM.
THE REAR SEAT BELT ANCHOR IS REVERSED ON THE CENTER BUCKLE. THE ANCHOR IS ON THE CENTER PASSENGER'S LEFT SIDE AND THE LATCH ON THEIR RIGHT. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER'S LATCH IS ON THEIR RIGHT, BUT ON THE FAR RIGHT SIDE OF THE ANCHOR. WHEN A PASSENGER OR CAR SEAT IS BELTED INTO THE CENTER SEAT, THE SEAT BELTS OBSTRUCT EACH OTHER, AND WHEN FORCED TO LATCH, APPEAR QUITE DANGEROUS.
LIKE MANY OTHER 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V OWNERS, I DISCOVERED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GASOLINE IN THE OIL RESERVOIR OF MY VEHICLE AFTER NORMAL USAGE. IN LESS THAN A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP AND LESS THAN 1,000 MILES DRIVEN, MY CR-V'S OIL RESERVOIR WAS 0.5 QUARTS OVER FULL DUE TO DILUTION FROM UNCOMBUSTED GASOLINE. THIS PROBLEM AND ITS CAUSE HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED BY CR-V OWNERS ON MULTIPLE OTHER WEBSITES AND FORUMS. WHEN I PULLED THE OIL DIPSTICK FROM MY CR-V'S ENGINE, I IMMEDIATELY SMELLED GASOLINE AND RECOGNIZED THAT EXCESSIVE DILUTION HAD OCCURRED. I AM GREATLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE, SAFETY, AND LONGEVITY OF MY CR-V'S ENGINE DUE TO THIS DEFICIENCY. FURTHERMORE, I AM QUESTIONING THE SAFETY OF THE 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V GIVEN THAT MULTIPLE CR-V OWNERS HAVE DOCUMENTED STALLED ENGINES AND ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I AM THANKFUL I CAUGHT THIS PROBLEM IN MY CR-V BEFORE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON OR BEFORE MY ENGINE STALLED; HOWEVER, OIL DILUTION WILL CONTINUE TO PLAGUE THESE VEHICLES UNTIL HONDA PROVIDES A LONG-TERM SOLUTION OR RECALL.
PURCHASED 2018 HONDA NEW FROM BOARDWALK HONDA, NJ. IMMEDIATELY GAS WAS ENTERING OIL AND GAS ODOR WAS PRESENT. THE DEALER COULD NOT CORRECT PROBLEM AND STATED HONDA WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM AND WORKING ON A REPAIR. CONTACTED BY BOARDWALK HONDA AND TOLD THEY RECEIVED REPAIR INFO FROM HONDA. I TOOK CAR IN AND THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE. THE REPAIR HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DARLING'S HONDA NISSAN VOLVO (114 SYLVAN RD, BANGOR, ME 04401, (207) 941-1460) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,485.
THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND THE SERVICE COMPLETED BY THE DEALER FOR THE ISSUE OF FUEL GETTING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. I DROVE THE VEHICLE 1500 MILES OF WHICH 1000 MILES WAS HIGWAY TRAVEL OVER 2 DAYS. NOW THE OIL DIP STICK LEVEL IS ONE INCH ABOVE THE 'MAX FILL DOT'. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES 'DO NOT FILL THE ENGINE OIL ABOVE THE UPPER MARK.' 'OVER FLLING THE ENGINE OIL CAN RESULT IN LEAKS AND ENGINE DAMAGE.'
HAD BACKUP SENSORS INSTALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP, JENKINS &WYNN; CLARKSVILLE, TN. THE BACK UP SENSOR BEEP VOLUME IS SO LOW THAT THEY ARE INAUDIBLE TO MYSELF. MY WIFE CAN BARELY HEAR THE BEEPS. THE SENSORS CANNOT BE HEARD AT ALL IF THE VEHICLE AUDIO IS TURNED UP AT ALL. THE BACKUP SENSORS USER'S INFORMATION MANUAL DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY WARNING STATING THE BEEP VOLUME IS EXTREMELY LOW/INAUDIBLE TO HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE. ALSO, THE MANUAL ALSO DOES NOT STATE THAT WHEN THE BACKUP SENSORS ARE ACTIVATED, THAT THE AUDIO IS NEITHER MUTED OR LOWERED SO THE DRIVER CAN HEAR THE BEEPS. DRIVERS MAY BE ACCUSTOMED TO OTHER VEHICLES BACK UP SENSORS SYSTEMS THAT LOWER RADIO VOLUME AND HAVE BEEPS LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD BY ALL DRIVERS, INCLUDING HEARING IMPAIRED. I BELIEVE THAT ON TOP OF THE FACT THAT HONDA IS DECEIVING CUSTOMERS WHO ARE EXPECTING STANDARD BACKUP SENSOR ACTIVITY; SUCH AS LOUD/AUDIBLE BEEPS OR THE LOWERING OF THE VEHICLES AUDIO VOLUME WHEN THE SENSORS ARE ACTIVATED; THERE ARE NO WARNINGS IN THE MANUAL ALERTING DRIVERS TO THESE NON-INDUSTRY STANDARDS. I BELIEVE THESE FAILURES TO NOTIFY DRIVERS/OWNERS MAY CAUSE TO UNSAFE CONDITIONS DURING BACKING THAT CAN SERIOUSLY INJURE OR CAUSE THE DEATH OF SOMEONE DURING BACKING.
GASOLINE LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE LUBRICATION OIL REDUCING THE ENGINE LUBRICATION ABILITY.
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN AND ON FREEWAY, NOTICED VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL IN CABIN OF CAR, ENOUGH TO MAKE KIDS COMPLAIN IN THE BACK SEAT. HAD TO TURN OFF HEAT/FAN. BROUGHT CAR IN TO DEALER ON 2/19, AND OIL WAS OVERFULL BY 3/4 QUART DUE TO FUEL DILUTION. CHANGED OIL AND FILTER. ADVISED HONDA HAS NO CLUE, WATCH OIL. MILEAGE: 3953. OPENED CASE WITH HONDA. 2/25 - DROVE 50 MILES ONE WAY ON FREEWAY TO GO SHOPPING. WHILE GOING FROM STORE TO STORE, STRONG FUEL SMELL AGAIN IN CABIN. PARKED IN GARAGE AT HOME, LATER HAD TO MOVE IT OUT DUE TO GARAGE FILLING WITH FUEL SMELL. 2/28 - OIL OVERFULL AND SMELLS LIKE FUEL, DEALER CHANGED OIL AND FILTER. NO OTHER SOLUTION. 3/2 - HONDA CASE MGR CALLED, ADVISED THEY ARE WORKING ON SOLUTION. UNTIL THEN, CHECK OIL EVERY COUPLE DAYS AND ALL OIL CHANGES WILL BE WARRANTIED. 3/3-3/15 - SMELLING FUMES INSIDE CABIN AGAIN. NOTHING STRONG. JUST BECOMING THE "USUAL". 3/15 - OIL CHANGE NUMBER THREE, SAME REASON. MILEAGE 5475. IRONICALLY, I THE BEGINNING OF FEB, BEFORE KNOWING THIS ISSUE, I HAD A DR APPT. I ADVISED MY DOCTOR THAT MY ASTHMA HAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT WAS EXERCISE INDUCED PREVIOUSLY, BUT NOW IT'S FLARING AT RANDOM TIMES AND MY CHEST HURTS. I GOT A NEW ASTHMA PLAN. COME TO FIND OUT, FUEL FUMES AGGREVATES ASTHMA!!
WITH MY SMARTPHONE CONNECTED TO THE AUDIO/INFORMATION SCREEN (INFOTAINMENT PANEL) VIA USB PORT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE FOR THE USE OF IOS MAPS FOR NAVIGATION, I RECEIVED AN INCOMING PHONE CALL. THE VOLUME OF THE RING THROUGH THE VEHICLE SPEAKERS WAS SO LOUD THAT MY BODY INSTINCTIVELY AND INVOLUNTARILY REMOVED MY HANDS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO PROTECT MY EARS BY COVERING THEM. AT THAT POINT, I HAD COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE MOVING VEHICLE! IT CREATED AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM LATER, I FOUND THAT THE VOLUME OF INCOMING CALLS IS A FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE; NOT THE SMART PHONE WHEN USED IN THIS FASHION. THE VOLUME MUST BE ADJUSTED BY USE OF THE INFOTAINMENT PANEL VOLUME KNOB (OR MAYBE STEERING WHEEL VOLUME ADJUST?) WHILE THE CALL IS INCOMING. TO HAVE THE DEFAULT INCOMING CALL SETTING AT A VOLUME LEVEL THAT WOULD CAUSE A DRIVER'S HANDS TO INVOLUNTARILY COVER THEIR EARS WHILE IN MOTION SEEMS TO BE RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT. I WAS NOT ADVISED VERBALLY OR IN WRITING THAT THIS VOLUME WOULD NEED TO BE ADJUSTED OR THAT IT COULD CAUSE A HAZARDOUS CONDITION. MY HEARING HAS NEVER SEEMED OVERLY SENSITIVE TO LOUD NOISE.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FUEL FUMES CREPT INTO THE VEHICLE, CREATING AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOLMAN HONDA (12 E SUNRISE BLVD, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33304, (954) 764-1100) WHERE THE SOFTWARE WAS REFRESHED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,200.

RAISED 2 TICKETS WITH HONDA THEY ARE IRRESPONSIBLE AND STOPPED CONTACTING ME FOR SOLUTION. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE FACING THIS ISSUE.
RAISED ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND SMELL OF GAS INSIDE THE CAR WHEN DRIVEN ON COLD MORNING FOR A SHORT TRIP AND SOMETIMES ON LONGER TRIPS TOO.
TODAY MY WIFE WENT TO CHURCH SHE USED A PURSE THAT IS SMALL AND HAD THE KEY FOB IN A TIGHT OUTER POCKET. SHE NOTICED WHEN SHE CAME OUT THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN AND THE SUNROOF WAS OPEN ! LUCKY IT WAS JUST STARTING TO VERY LIGHTLY RAIN ! I KNOW YOU PRESS UNLOCK AND THEN PRESS AGAIN AND HOLD DOWN TO DO THIS FUNCTION BUT I GUESS THE TIGHT PURSE DID THAT ON ITS OWN. WOULD LIKE TO DISABLE IT IF POSSIBLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE.
FUEL IS GETTING INTO THE OIL CAUSING DILUTION. MY OIL LEVEL HAS INCREASED AS A RESULT OF THAT AND IT CAN CAUSE THE OIL TO LOOSE VISCOSITY WHICH WON'T MAKE THE OIL AS EFFECTIVE ON THE ENGINE AND CAN CAUSE LONG TERM ENGINE DAMAGE. THIS IS HAPPENING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. I HAD TO GET MY OIL CHANGE EARLY AT LESS THAN 3500 MILES BECAUSE THE SMELL OF OIL AND OIL LEVEL INCREASE WAS BAD.
WHILE ON VACATION, I HAD MY 2018 HONDA, CRV-EXL PARKED FOR NEARLY 2 WEEKS. ON OUR RETURN, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD NOT START AS THE NEW BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED AND DEAD. LUCKILY I HAD A CHARGER AND CHARGED THE VEHICLE FOR 2 HOURS. I WAS THEN ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND IDLE IT. DURING IDLE THE DISPLAY INDICATED PROBLEMS IN ALL OPERABLE FUNCTIONS. DURING A 45 MIN DRIVE THE SYSTEM MUST HAVE RESET ITSELF AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY, THIS CONDITION REPEATED ITSELF ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I AM SCHEDULE TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECK OF THE CRV SOON AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. I HOPE THEY DISCIVER THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM.
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TRIM PIECES ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE ARE DESIGNED SUCH THAT THERE IS A TROUGH OR CHANNEL THAT RUNS UP THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDSHIELD ON BOTH SIDES. THE DEPTH OF THE CHANNEL VARIES; BEING DEEPER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD AND TAPERING DOWN TO LESS DEEP AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, WATER IS DEPOSITED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE CHANNEL BY THE WIPER WHEN THE WIPER COMPLETES ITS UPWARD STROKE. THERE IS NO WHERE FOR THE WATER TO GO. AS THE WIPER BEGINS ITS DOWNWARD STROKE, THE POOLED WATER IS PULLED OUT FROM THE CHANNEL AND TRAVELS HORIZONTALLY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE RESULT IS THAT 2-3 INCHES OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BECOMES UNUSABLE WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THIS ACTUALLY MAKES QUITE A BIT OF DIFFERENCE IN VISIBILITY ON RAINY DAYS AND SEEMS UNNECESSARY AND UNSAFE. I ATTACHED A PICTURE BECAUSE THIS WAS HARD TO DESCRIBE. THE PICTURE SHOWS A STANDARD MECHANICAL PENCIL STUFFED INTO THE CHANNEL. I ANGLED THE PENCIL SLIGHTLY FOR THE PICTURE SO THAT IT IS VISIBLE, AS THE ENTIRE PENCIL FITS INTO THE CHANNEL.
2018 HONDA CR-V EX. SINCE I PURCHASED NEW EXCESS IN JAN 2018 FUEL IS GETTING INTO THE CRANKCASE AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL. HAVE TO CHANGE MY OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES. SENT SEVERAL OIL SAMPLES FROM MY CR-V TO A LAB AND IT COMES BACK HIGHLY DILUTED WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE PREMATURE ENGINE DAMAGE. ALSO, DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN TEMPS ARE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND BELOW MY CR-V CANNOT HOLD A NORMAL ENGINE TEMPERATURE WHEN GOING DOWNHILL OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS TURN CAUSES MY WINDSHIELD TO ICE OVER CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROADS. I HAVE CONTACTED AND VISITED MY HONDA DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. HOW CAN MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS HAVE THESE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS AND NOTHING BE WRONG? I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA MOTOR CORPORATION AND MY DEALER. ACCORDING TO BLACKSTONE LABS.OIL ANALYSIS USING OIL FROM THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5K MILES ON 1/2019 OIL CONTAMINATED WITH GAS FROM DIRECT FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM PROBLEM. DRIVEABILITY PROBLEM DUE TO STICKING ACCELERATION PEDAL. THIS HESITATION HAS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS. MY WIFE IS RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS FUEL CONTAMINATION OF CRANKCASE OIL CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS.THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM REGARDING CITY & HIGHWAY DRIVING THAT ACCELERATION IS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN TRAFFIC FLOW. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE PURCHASE, JUST ASSUMED IT WAS BURNING OFF SOMETHING, BUT WHEN IT CONTINUED, IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR A NEW CAR. GOING TO DEALER WITH COMPLAINT. CAUSES HEALTH CONCERNS DUE TO EXPOSURE OF FUMES ON CONSTANT BASIS
I PURCHASED MY 2018 HONDA CR-V EX-L IN DECEMBER OF 2017. I NOTICED WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS THAT THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS EXTREMELY SLOW TO CLIMB, AND OFTENTIMES WOULD "LOSE" TEMPERATURE ON COLDER DAYS. I SPENT TIME TESTING THE CONDITIONS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE SO I WOULD HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO PROVIDE THE DEALERSHIP. I WOULD DRIVE BOTH STOP-AND-GO, AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 15-30 MINUTES AT A TIME TO GET THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE NORMAL, AND THEN PULL INTO A PARKING LOT WITH THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING. AFTER ABOUT 2-5 MINUTES, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WOULD START TO DROP, EVENTUALLY DROPPING TO 1-2 INDICATOR MARKS ON THE GAUGE. I WOULD ALSO NO LONGER HAVE ANY HEAT AT THAT POINT (THE HVAC SYSTEM WOULD BLOW COLD). I WENT THROUGH 2 SEPARATE DEALERS TROUBLESHOOTING THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM HAD IT IN SERVICE THE LONGEST. AFTER MULTIPLE DAYS IN THE SHOP WITH NO UPDATE, I FELT THEY WERE NOT MAKING ANY PROGRESS ON THE ISSUE SO I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA OF AMERICA. THEY ASSIGNED THE ISSUE TO ONE OF THEIR CUSTOMER ADVOCATES TO OVERSEE THIS SERVICE ISSUE WITH THE CAR. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA OF AMERICA THAT THE ISSUE WAS REFERRED TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER OF SUPPORT FOR HONDA IN MY AREA. AFTER SOME ADDITIONAL TIME IN SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS REVIEWED W/ HONDA'S TECHNICAL / ENGINEERING TEAM WHO DEEMED THIS AS "NORMAL". LAST MONTH I CAME ACROSS MULTIPLE ARTICLES RELATED TO A GASOLINE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM IN 2017/2018 CR-V'S, AND A "SIDE EFFECT" OF THAT PROBLEM BEING LOW ENGINE TEMPERATURE / LOSS OF ENGINE TEMPERATURE. I CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK ON THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UMANSKY HONDA (960 HILTON HEIGHTS RD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22901, (888) 686-9143) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, THE OIL PAN WAS REPLACED AND RESEALED, AND THE BELL HOUSING WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR WAS THE MANUFACTURER MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.

ROAD CREWS PLOW WITH BLADE SLIGHTLY ABOVE PAVEMENT POSSIBLY AVOIDING DAMAGE TO RUMBLE STRIP SO WE CAN'T SEE LANE DIVIDER LINES OR EDGE OF ROAD SOLID LINE WHEN ACCIDENTLY TOUCH THE RUMBLE STRIP BRAKES ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY WHEN BEEPS ALONE SHOULD SUFFICE. OTHER TIMES IT APPEARED THE SYSTEM THOUGHT WE WERE ABOUT TO HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION AND AGAIN BRAKED SUDDENLY AND OFTEN. WE THINK THE HEADLIGHTS OF CARS WAY OFF IN THE DISTANCE WHERE TREES NEAR THEM CREATED A KIND OF STROBE EFFECT FOOLED THE SENSORS WHERE EVER THEY ARE. I HAD TO CANCEL ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS TO AVOID MORE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. SOLUTION RECOMMENDED: REQUIRE HONDA TO ALLOW US TO TURN OFF AUTO BRAKING IN BAD WEATHER SO SENSORS DON'T CAUSE PANIC TO DRIVERS NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT'S HAPPENING. WHEN ROADS ARE SLICK AS OURS WERE YOU REALLY DON'T WANT VEHICLES SLIDING OUT OF CONTROL BECAUSE OF A SYSTEM INTENDED TO KEEP US SAFE. I CAN TELL YOU DRIVERS AROUND US THOUGHT WE WERE INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO CAUSE MISCHIEF AND I'M CERTAIN THE ONLY REASON WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENTAL IS BECAUSE I PUT BLIZZAC SNOW TIRES ON MY 2018 CRV TOURING AND KEPT MY THUMB OVER THE CANCEL BUTTON SO I COULD RECOVER QUICKLY BUT EVENTUALLY HAD TO DISABLE ALL THAT BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TOO OFTEN. I GET CRAMPS IN MY LEG WHEN I CAN'T USE CRUISE CONTROL AND I PAID A LOT OF MONEY SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE AND OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT SIMPLY MADE THIS CAR MORE DANGEROUS. I'M ANGRY, FRUSTRATED AND WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS!!! YES ROADS WERE SLOPPY, SLICK AND TRAVELING BELOW SPEED LIMIT OF 70 BECAUSE OF CONDITIONS. ONLY WHEN WE GOT TO MARYLAND DID CONDITIONS IMPROVE. HAD TO DRIVE 1/3 OF OUR 550 MILE TRIP WITH THESE PROBLEMS HAPPENING DISENGAGING ENTIRELY AFTER HAGAARSTOWN MD. CAN'T TRUST IT.
THE MECHANICAL DESIGN OF THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER (JOYSTICK, AS I CALL IT) IS SUCH THAT IT REQUIRES TOO LITTLE PRESSURE IN ORDER TO BE PUSHED FORWARD WHICH ACTIVATES THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. IN SIMPLE TERMS, USING THE TURN SIGNALS TURNS ON THE HIGH BEAMS ACCIDENTALLY ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAUSES A COUPLE SAFETY ISSUES. FIRSTLY, OTHER DRIVERS AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC COULD BE UNNECESSARILY BLINDED BY HIGH BEAMS IF I HAVE NOT NOTICED THAT MY HIGH BEAMS HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTALLY TURNED ON. SECONDLY, IT CREATES A SITUATION WHERE I (DRIVER) HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME LOOKING AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAN IS NECESSARY. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, I EITHER HAVE TO ADDITIONALLY GLANCE AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR TAKE A LONGER GLANCE WHILE CHECKING MY SPEED IN ORDER TO KNOW IF THE HIGH BEAMS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED ACCIDENTALLY. TURN SIGNAL JOYSTICKS HAVE BEEN AROUND LONGER THAN I HAVE, AND WE ALL KNOW HOW TO USE THEM. THEY ARE SIMPLE, BASIC SAFETY FEATURES AND THERE SEEMS NO REASON WHY A MANUFACTURER SHOULD BOTCH THESE AT THIS POINT. DATE OF INCIDENT LISTED DATE THAT I TOOK POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, AS THIS IS ONGOING ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 OVER AN OPEN ROAD WITH NO OVERPASSES IN GEORGIA WITH NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 20 CAR LENGTHS, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED. THE CAR HAD 2400 MILES ON IT AND THE SUN ROOF HAD NEVER BEEN OPERATED. THE SKY WAS CLEAR AND THE MORNING TEMP WAS IN THE UPPER 30S. THE ROOF COVER WAS CLOSED. THE GLASS BLEW OUTWARD FROM THE CENTER WITH A TREMENDOUS BANG CAUSING ME TO COME CLOSE TO LOOKING CONTROL. I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS I COULD. MOST OF THE GLASS HAD BLOWN OVER THE CAR ON TO THE ROADWAY. SOME OF THE FRACTURED EDGES BLEW BACK ON TO THE COVER. THIS WOULD HAVE STUCK THE DRIVER, A FRONT SEAT AND REAR SEAT PASSENGER WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE HAD THE INTERNAL COVER NOT BEEN CLOSED. THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL HAD HE BEEN INJURED BY THE GLASS. FORTUNATELY HE WAS DRIVING AT JUST UNDER THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. THE DRIVER IS A RETIRED ENGINEER. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IS AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE IS CLEARLY A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING ISSUE. IT IS A NEW VEHICLE LESS THAN A MONTH OLD. THE OUTWARD NATURE OF THE EXPLOSION AND LACK OF ANY INDICATION OF FOD SUPPORT THIS. UNLIKE ANY OTHER CAR GLASS FAILURE I HAVE SEEN THIS SMALL PIECE OF GLASS BLEW UP INTO THOUSANDS OF LOOSE PIECES ENDANGERING BOTH OCCUPANTS AND VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. A PHOTO IS ATTACHED.
HAD ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL SUCH AS WARNING LIGHTS IN THE PAST, 38,000 MILES HAD FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. MENTION WHEN I GOT THE CAR THAT IT DID NOT HEAT PROPERLY, THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. DOES NOT HEAT WHEN IDLING . SO I STARTED CHECKING IT OUT AND EVERYBODY ELSE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IDLING.
ON DECEMBER 12, 2017 AT ABOUT 4:30 PM, THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AND PUT MY CAR INTO A PANIC STOP WHEN I WAS NOT ABOUT TO HAVE A COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DRIVING EAST ALONG A 4 LANE UNDIVIDED HIGHWAY IN THE RIGHT LANE (SLOW LANE) AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THAT WAS GREEN. THERE WAS A CAR AHEAD OF ME IN THE SLOW LANE AT THE SIGNAL, SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. I WAS 5 OR 6 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THIS CAR AND IN NO DANGER OF COLLIDING WITH HIM. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY CAR APPLIED THE BRAKES IN A FULL PANIC STOP. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THERE WAS NO COLLISION WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES, BUT MY RIGHT HIP AND LOWER RIGHT BACK WERE SORE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND TO THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE CAR. ON THE DEALER'S SUGGESTION, I SET THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING DISTANCE TO "SHORT"; IT HAD BEEN SET AT "NORMAL", THE FACTORY SETTING. MOST DAYS I MANUALLY TURN THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM OFF BEFORE I DRIVE, BUT ON THE DAYS I HAVE FORGOTTEN, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RE-OCCURRED WITH THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING DISTANCE SET TO "SHORT". I BELIEVE THAT IF THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, HE MAY HAVE COLLIDED WITH THE BACK OF MY CAR AND CAUSED ME FURTHER INJURY.
