I was driving slowly down a side street and nosing into a parking spot (not parallel parking) when the car surged forward. I hit the car I was parking in back of and propelled that car into the one in front of it. My car has damage to the hood and front bumper
Purchased car on March 4, 2025. Noticed TMPS dashboard light was on, returned 3/5/2025, Ford replaced tire senor, light was still on, they replaced 4 tire senors. But did not replace all untill 4/19/2024, that is when I noticed a bubble and crack on tire and a BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK. ALSO THEY DID NOT INSPECT MY CAR WITHIN 7 DAYS, THEY INSPECTED IT ON 3/14/2025. NO REJECTION STICKER PUT ON, SO I was DRIVING THE CAR HONDA WITHOUT ANY STICKER UNTIL THEY REPLACED ANOTHER SENOR. TOLD ME THE TMPS light would go off after I drove the car around. 24 Ford of South Easton of Easton, MA sold me a 2010 Honda Fit that has a DriveShaft recall for corrosion. Also, faulty tire senors, replaced but Dashboard TMPS light is still on, lied about giving me a new tire, tire has bubbles on it and they put tire on rim facing in toward car wheel hub so it won't be visible, I noticed this and a broken Sway Bar Link. Ford let me drive an unsafe car off the lot. They didn't Offer to fix it, I went to AXP Auto , paid $183.00 to fix the Sway Bar Link, then to a tire Shop to get a new tire . I went to Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT AND GAVE ME A $2000.00 ESTIMATE OF SAFETY REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED. Six weeks after I brought car, Transmission Engine light is constantly on...many other thing wrong. Axle Shaft R&R, front pads and rotor, 4 tires, Dirty Air Filter, old oil filter black oil. Now Transmission Pressure Senor needs replacement. List is long. AXP Auto also gave me a $2,000.00 quote on repairs, transmission fluid pressure switch gasket, etc. steering TIE RODS, REPLACE BRAKES. THIS HONDA FIT IS A DEATHTRAP AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. 24 FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED DRIVESHAFT BEFORE I PURCHASED CAR. THEY SWINDLED ME on THE SALES CONTACT AS I DIDN'T KNOW THEY CHARGED ME $6200.00 IN WARRANTY, I WAS ABLE TO CANCEL ONE WARRANTY TOTAL OF $2000.00, AS T DIDN'T COVER BRAKES AND OTHER REPAIRS, SUCH AS POWERTRAIN. OFFERED NO GAP TO ME. 24 FORD is BAD.
On [XXX], I Down payment for the purchase of a 2010 Honda Fit, for $6,258.00 with 24 Ford of Easton, 703 Washington St., South Easton, MA 02375. License Motor Dealer , On [XXX], the TMPS dashboard light was on...Ford replaced them, but as presently ([XXX]) light is still on, they told me TMPS would go off after I drove car around. April 19, 2025, Last TMPS sensor was put on a 4th tire, I was in the car repair area and noticed a broken Sway Bar Link and a Bubble & Cracks on tire, Ford noticed it but did not offer to fix it and let me drive off dealership lot with broken Sway Bar and bad tire. It was negligent, and UNSAFE TO DRIVE. 30 day Lemon Law Ended on [XXX]. Also, there was a RECALL FOR A DRIVESHAFT, WHICH I FOUND OUT VIA THE INTERNET. On May 13, 2025 I went to a Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT. I went to AXP Repair Shop to get SWAY BAR LINK fixed, and a new tire, which cost me $250.00. 24 Ford did not inspect my car until March 14, 2025 after they replaced the last Tire Sensor. Since the TMPS light was on they didn't even put a REJECT INSPECTION on my car window and let me drive it without any Sticker. They put my life and others at risk of a fatal accident, negligent in letting me drive off their FORD DEALERSHIP LOT WITH A BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK AND BUBBLE/CRACKS ON TIRE. Everything is very RUSTY under the car carriage. I do not feel safe driving car. I call it a deathtrap. Also per Carfax it was parked someplace for a year 01/01/2024 - 01/01/2025. 24 FORD OUT IT UP FOR SALE 01/2025. THEY DIDN'T DO ANY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, DIRTY AIR FILTERS. AXP and Honda told me I need $2,000.00 - $4,000.00 worth of repairs to make car safe. FORD BROUGHT IT AT AN AUCTION. I was really scammed by the DECEPTIVE PRACTICES and LIES. I need to get this information out to the Public and I am trying to get my money back and return the Savage car back to Jon yes Easton Motor Cars, 703 Washington St. South Easton, MA. I called the Honda dealership in Concord California on 12/2/2024 for the 20V-770 recall as well as the airbag shrapnel issue. They checked with the service manager and refused to inspect the drive train unless there “Was a problem with the car”. They refused to repair the air bags unless “something happens, hopefully nothing happens then we can look at it.” They offered to have the airbags repaired at our expense. What is the point of having a recall if the dealers refuse to even look at the car until it crashes or hits you with shrapnel?
Just purchased the car and it suffers from "Memory Steer". After a turn, the steering does not return to neutral, but the steering wheel requires input to straighten out. Alignment, Strut Bearings and Ball Joints checked OK, suggesting the binding is in the steering column, Steering Rack or perhaps the Electric Power Steering. The problem occurs at all speeds.
While driving on the highway, my 2010 Honda Fit Sport automatic with 134,000 miles going around 60 mph lost power and started making sputtering noise. Fortunately, there was still some power left, and I was able to navigate to the shoulder of the highway. I turned off the car and turned It back on again and the Check Engine Light came on. I plugged in my BlueDriver diagnostic tool and it says Cylinder 2 Misfire. When I placed it in Drive, the car was making sputtering noise from the Engine Bay Area and would not accelerate, leaving me stranded on the side of the highway. I was lucky enough to maneuver the limping car in the middle of rush hours to the side of the highway. It's a miracle I didn't get into an accident, as the car lost power and was not accelerating properly. The mechanic did a diagnostic and said that Cylinder 2 spark plug blew, commonly due to the plugs coming loose, damaging the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder 2. I searched the internet and found that other 2nd generation Honda Fit ('09-'13) owners also had spark plugs that came from the factory/ tightened to factory specification to only come loose again. I could have died or have gotten into a serious accident. Because of this horror story and being stuck on the highway for 4 hours, I will unfortunately never buy a Honda again, a brand that was supposed to be reliable.
While driving, the steering wheel intermittently locks up or loses power making control of the vehicle extremely difficult while driving straight and near impossible when it happens while turning.
On 1/29/22 in Dayton OH, I was stopped and turning left out onto the road. I accelerated lightly and the left axel broke in the middle of the turn. The car was stopped in the middle of two lanes. I was able to get help and push the car back in the business driveway by keeping it in neutral. The car would make repetitive clicking sounds if I left it in park. I had it towed. Repair shop fixed issue. It was the left front axel shaft that broke. My car has about 130,000 miles on it and is a 2010 Honda Fit. It is available for inspection. I am so thankful that I wasn't on a high speed road as a car could have collided into me when I was turning left because the axle broke before I could get fully into one lane. If I had been moving at higher speeds, I definitely would have gotten in an accident. There were no warning indicators before the incident. I regularly serviced the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Fit. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The vehicle regained power steering assist and was coasted to the side of the roadway. While accelerating, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train failed and needed to be replaced. The technician replaced the engine coil spring and disconnected the battery however, the failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer four times. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V770000 (Power Train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.

THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
FRONT AXLE SNAPPED
I HAD COME TO A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET IN XENIA, OHIO AND WHEN I APPLIED THE GAS TO PULL OUT I HEARD A CLUNK AND THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE FORWARD BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN NORMALLY. I SURMISED SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH THE POWER TRAIN. I CALLED AAA AND THEY THOUGHT THE SAME, THE TOW DRIVER HAVING BEEN A MECHANIC FOR MANY YEARS SAID BROKEN DRIVE SHAFTS ON HONDAS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. IT WAS TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BEAVERCREEK, OH AND IT WAS FOUND THE LEFT SIDE DRIVE SHAFT HAD BROKEN AND NEEDED REPLACED. ARE BROKEN DRIVE SHAFTS COMMON ON HONDAS? I HAVE ATTACHED THE REPAIR BILL.
RIGHT REAR AXLE BROKEN. LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO THE LEFT REAR ANKLE BROKE. THIS TIME VEHICLE WAS PARKED. PREVIOUS TIME CAR STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, THEN WOULDN'T MOVE.
Driveshaft snapped. Replaced by dealer at considerable expense. Honda opened a case number #11878648, but refuses to pay or return calls.

THE CONTACT CALLED FIRST TEXAS HONDA LOCATED AT (3400 STECK AVE, AUSTIN, TX 78757 (512) 220-1121) WHERE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,397. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
WE KEEP GETTING NOTIFICATIONS THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE OUR AIR BAGS. BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT BAGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY GUSTMAN IN APPLETON, WI. THEY SAID THAT THEY NOTIFIED YOU AND I PERSONALLY HAVE SENT PAPERWORK. I REFUSE TO SEND MORE AND WOULD LIKE TO BE TAKEN OFF THE LIST. I WILL NOW BE DESTROYING THIS MAILING AND WILL NOT OPEN ANY MORE. I WILL SEND THEM BACK TO YOU
THE AXLE ON MY CAR HAS BROKE THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST 8 MONTHS, NOT THE RESULT FROM AN ACCIDENT. I TURNED OUT OF A GAS STATION AT AND HEARD A POP AND THEN A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS.
MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CV AXEL FAILED A YEAR AGO. MIRACULOUSLY IT HAPPENED IN THE PARKING LOT OF A SERVICE STATION WHO THEN DID THE REPAIR SO I DIDN’T NEED A TOW. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I GOT TOWED I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE TOWING HONDA FITS REGULARLY SO IT IS LIKELY DUE TO A DESIGN PROBLEM. LUCKILY I HAD JUST MADE A LEFT TURN INTO A BUSINESS PARKING LOT FROM A BUSY BUSINESS STREET (VT STATE HIGHWAY 302) WHEN THE CAR STOPPED MOVING AND I COULD NOT GET IT INTO GEAR. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY DANGEROUS IF IT FAILED AT HIGHER SPEED AND/OR IN THE MIDDLE OF A ON BUSY ROAD.
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2010 HONDA FIT FROM DAVID MCDAVID HONDA IN IRVING, TEXAS. WE HAVE THE CAR SERVICED AT DAVID MCDAVID HONDA IN IRVING ALSO. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE KEY LOCKS ON THIS CAR. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED AT 37746 MILES. THE KEY WOULD GO ABOUT HALF WAY INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK AND THEN WOULD JAM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK CYLINDER. (SEE ATTACHMENT ONE TO THIS LETTER FOR THE DEALER INVOICE). AT APPROXIMATELY 54000 MILES THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK. THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE SIMILAR TO EARLIER FAILURE. I CALLED MY DAVID MCDAVID ADVISOR TO SEE WHETHER THE LOCK CYLINDER WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. HE TOLD ME THAT SINCE 12 MONTHS AND 12,000 MILES HAD PASSED THAT I HAD NO WARRANTY ON THE PART. I THEN WENT TO CAR TOYS LOCATED IN IRVING TO SEE WHETHER THEY COULD PUT A KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM IN THE HONDA FIT. AFTER THEIR POSITIVE ASSURANCE, I HAD THEIR SYSTEM PUT IN THE CAR. (SEE ATTACHMENT TWO TO THIS LETTER FOR CAR TOYS INVOICE DATED SEPTEMBER 10, 2018). ON JUNE 27, 2019, MY WIFE WENT TO STORE AND WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE CAR, THE KEY WOULD ONLY GO HALF WAY INTO THE IGNITION AND THEN JAM. I WENT TO WHERE THE CAR WAS LOCATED AND TRIED TO GET THE KEY TO WORK. I HAD NO LUCK AND AFTER DISCUSSING WITH ADVISOR AT DAVID MCDAVID HONDA IN IRVING, I HIRED A WRECKER TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS 59439. (SEE ATTACHMENT THREE TO THIS LETTER FOR THE DEALER INVOICE). STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN SUDDENLY, AND INTERMITTENTLY, TURNING IMMEDIATELY 90 DEGREES WHERE I HAVE TO CORRECT THE WHEEL IN ORDER TO AVOID A CRASH. TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON SLIGHT TURNS, LIKE GETTING ON OR OFF A HWY RAMP OR TURNING ON A RED LIGHT. GOODYEAR TIRE SAID THEY ARE SEEING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING AND INFORMED ME THIS ISN'T A DRIVABLE CAR UNLESS $2400 REPAIR. THE SUDDENNESS OF THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH, ESPECIALLY AT THE SPEED.
THE PAINT IS WEARING OFF OF THE TOP OF THE CAR CLEARLY THIS IS DEFECTIVE
DRIVER STOPPED CAR AT A RED LIGHT ON A MAIN STREET. WHEN LIGHT TURBED GREEN, DRIVER PRESSED THE ACCELLERATOR AND THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELLERATE. CAR WAS TOWED BY POLICE, THEN TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR REPAIR. MECHANICS DETERMINED THE AXEL SHAFT HAD SNAPPED AS A RESULT OF PROLIBGED EXPOSURE TO MOISTURE, AND MICROFRACTURES. THE PART WAS REPLACED.
FROM A ROLLING STOP, TOOK A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A PAVED PARKING LOT ONTO A SLIGHT INCLINED WELL PAVED COUNTRY ROAD. DURING MODERATE ACCELERATION IN DRIVE MODE (NOT USING THE EQUIPPED CVT PADDLE SHIFTERS) APPROXIMATELY 1 CAR LENGTH FROM STARTING POINT A LOUD SOUND OCCURED, CAR LOST FORWARD MOMENTUM 2 APPROXIMATELY IN 2 CAR LENGTHS AND PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT INTO A PARKING SPACE WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. CAR NOW CAN ROLL IN ANY GEAR INCLUDING PARK. NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON PRIOR OR AFTER THIS EVENT. THERE WAS NO WARNING THIS WOULD OCCURE. THIS EVENT WAS OVER AS QUICKLY AS IT OCCURED. NO CARS WERE APPROACHING IN EITHER DIRECTION DURING THE EVENT. NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS AFTER. ENGEN TURNS OVER WITHOUT ISSUES. CAR IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED WITH LOTS OF NEW PARTS AND SERVICE. MOSTLY HIGHWAY AND PAVED OPEN COUNTRY ROAD DRIVING. AFTER STARTING ENGEN, PUTTING IN DRIVE OR REVERSE CAR DOES NOT MOVE, NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS WHILE PUSHING ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ANY GEAR. CAR TOWED TO HOME ON A LORRY WHERE IT NOW SITS AS OF 02/2019. MILAGE APPROX 194000 MILES.
ON FEBRUARY 1, 2019, OUR 2010 HONDA FIT'S LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE SUDDENLY UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION IN A STRAIGHT LINE FROM A STOP, ON LEVEL GROUND. UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THAT THE AXLE HAD CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT WELL UNDER HALF OF THE ORIGINAL CROSS SECTION WAS STILL INTACT. THIS CORROSION OCCURRED UNDER THE VIBRATION DAMPENING COLLAR. SUSPECTED CAUSE OF CORROSION IS ROAD SALT BRINE ENTERING BETWEEN THE COLLAR AND AXLE. VEHICLE MILEAGE AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS 76,183.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED TO LOCK MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. THERE WAS ALSO AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE EMERGING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED TROY HONDA (1835 MAPLELAWN DR, TROY, MI 48084, (248) 649-0202) AND WAS PROVIDED A REPAIR QUOTE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING POWER ELECTRICAL SURGES WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND SECONDARY ROADS. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY RAMPS ONTO FREEWAY, ALSO EXITING FREEWAY ON EXIT RAMPS.GOGGLED HONDA FIT POWER STEERING PROBLEMS A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAME PROBLEMS VERY.DANGEROUS FOR MY 20 YR DAUGHTER FIRST VEHICLE THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
WHILE STEERING ON THE ROAD (IN MOTION), OUR 2010 HONDA FIT SUDDENLY JERKS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE TURN, LEADING TO A NUMBER OF NEAR-MISS ACCIDENTS. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED IN FALL OF 2018. DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAYS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK AND BOX ARE "BAD" AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2400. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT OR CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT, AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS (LIKE TIE ROD ENDS) -- IT'S JUST THE STEERING THAT IS SUDDENLY UNRELIABLE.

KENDALL HONDA (846 GOODPASTURE ISLAND RD, EUGENE, OR 97401, (855) 981-5504) REPAIRED THE VEHICLE MONTHS AFTER THE PART WAS RECEIVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
BROKEN AXLE
THE STEERING WHEEL INTERMITTENTLY FREEZES UP, FOR ABOUT A SECOND, AT LEAST ONCE EVERY DAY THAT I DRIVE THE CAR. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURN ON DURING OR AFTER THESE EVENTS. SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS BEEN NOTICED WHILE MAKING TURNS, WHICH IS VERY UNSETTLING. I NO LONGER TRUST THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY, AND NOW FEEL THE NEED TO LEAVE A VERY LARGE DISTANCE WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF ANY ONCOMING CAR. I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR AN EPS FAILURE FOR HONDA FITS OF PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS, AND WANT TO KNOW WHEN THE RECALL FOR THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT WILL BE EXTENDED TO THE 2010 MODEL YEAR.
IGNITION AND KEY HAS PROBLEMS WITH KEY STICKING AND LOCK AND UNLOCKING DOORS WITH KEY NOT INSERTING AND NOT UNLOCKING DOORS, POOR DESIGN AND HONDA KNOWS IT JUT JUST IGNORES THE PROBLEMS
PARKED AT A MALL. DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. AFTER MANY EFFORTS I MANAGED TO GET FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPEN. KEY WOULD NOT UNLOCK DOOR FROM OUTSIDE. FOR 2 DAYS WHILE WAITING FOR APPOINTMENT AT DEALERSHIP HAD TO LEAVE UNLOCKED AND USE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. DEALERSHIP "FOUND DOOR LATCH FAULTY." TOTAL COST OVER $800.00. HAS BEEN REPLACED.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE ENGINE STALLS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (65 MPG) OR DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS (40 MPH) AND THE ENGINE STALLS. TWO MECHANICS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM DUE TO NO ENGINE CODES FOUND. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND THE WORD NEEDS TO GET OUT.
A SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF CYLINDER HEAD WHILE DRIVING. THIS DAMAGED THE CYLINDER HEAD AND IGNITION SYSTEM. FUEL ECONOMY SUFFERED. IT ALLOWED EXHAUSET FUMES TO BE DRAWN INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING NAUSEA AND DIZZINESS.
AFTER A STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN TRYING TO GO FROM IT ON A GREEN SIGNAL, SUDDENLY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AND VEHICLE NOT ENGAGING ANY GEAR. HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED CAR TO SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR SAFETY CONCERN. TRANMISSION PLACE MENTIONED IT AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSING AXLES TO BROKE AND PARTS IN TRANSMISSION DAMAGED/SPRINKLED OR IN PIECES.
I CONTACTED THE DEALER HONDA COGIN LOCATED IN ORLANDO - FL TWICE AND I CAN NOT MAKE THE EXCHANGE,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A BRIDGE CEMENT POST. WHILE SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS VEERING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECALL ANY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS 84 YEARS OLD AND POSSIBLY UNAWARE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS AND SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS WERE ENGAGED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN STERNUM AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BUMPS AND BRUISES TO BOTH KNEES AND ARMS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,323. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

ASKED HONDA SERVICE CENTER ABOUT IT AND AFTER SENDING ME TO A PAINT SPECIALIST TO GET IT LOOKED AT/PAINT JOB ESTIMATE AND BEING TOLD IT LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE THE PAINT ISSUES HONDA CIVICS ARE EXPERIENCING, HONDA SERVICE CENTER MANAGER TOLD ME IT WAS 'NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR' AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY SPUN TO THE RIGHT 180 DEGREES AND SLIDE SIDEWAYS AND OVER AN EMBANKMENT AND ONTO ITS SIDE. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY 31 NORTH IN WHITEHALL MICHIGAN. VEHICLE WAS UNDER LIGHT POWER (PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL) ON A SNOWY/ICY ROAD. TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE LOW 20 DEGREES. CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. VIDEO CAMERA IN THE CAR RECORDED A POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL FAILURE, WHICH MAY HAVE EFFECTED VEHICLE'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE POSITIVE CONTROL. VEHICLE HAS A HISTORY OF HEADLIGHTS BURNING OUT AND BEING REPLACED ON A YEARLY BASES, BOTH MAIN HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS. CAR ALSO HAS A HISTORY OF ELECTRICAL FLICKERING. DRIVER IS 6O YEAR OLD MALE WITH 44 YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE IN WINTER CONDITIONS WITH NO ACCIDENTS.

AS OF FEBRUARY 26, 2017, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED INFORMATION BY MAIL OF ANY REMEDY. FURTHERMORE, I WAS NOT MADE AWARE BY HONDA THAT A RECALL WAS IMPLEMENTED FOR DRIVER AIR BAGS.

HONDA HAS REPLACED THE DRIVER AIRBAG BUT NOT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. BOTH THE DEALER HERE IN IL AND HONDA ON THE WEST COAST INITIALLY INDICATED THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL - HOWEVER, THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT BRAND OR MAKE OF PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS INSTALLED. IT SEEMED VERY STRANGE TO ME THAT A CAR MANUFACTURER WHO UTILIZES JUST-IN-TIME PARTS INSTALLATION WOULD HAVE A TAKATA AIRBAG FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AND A NON-TAKATA (OR DIFFERENT MODEL TAKATA AIRBAG) ON THE PASSENGER SIDE - THUS I REQUESTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE MGR ON THE WEST COAST CONTACT HONDA JAPAN TO DETERMINE THE EXACT MAKE/MODEL OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. IN EARLY DECEMBER 2016 HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS INDEED A TAKATA AIRBAG OF THE TYPE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. I WAS TOLD AN ADDITIONAL RECALL WOULD BE FORTHCOMING AND THAT I SHOULD SECURE REPLACEMENT IN 2017. I HAVE CHECKED YOUR SAFER.GOV WEBSITE WITH MY VIN AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS NOT BEEN ADDED. HAS HONDA APPRISED YOU THAT ADDITIONAL AIRBAGS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, AND IF SO, WHEN WILL YOU UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO REFLECT SAME. THE NEW INFLATOR SERIAL NUMBER IS 25202210033709. NHTSA WEBSITE HAS THIS RECALL LISTED AS "INCOMPLETE" ON MY VEHICLE. PLEASE CONFIRM THAT THE REPAIR HAS BEEN ADEQUATELY PERFORMED AND UPDATE MY VEHICLE'S RECORD TO SHOW THAT IT IS "COMPLETE."

I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WOULD BE IN WITHIN A MONTH, BUT HAVE FOLLOWED UP MULTIPLE TIMES REGARDING THIS BECAUSE THE PART HAS BEEN BACKLOGGED. IT HAS BEEN OVER 60 DAYS SINCE MY INITIAL PHONE CALL RELAYING MY CONCERN WITH THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR. HONDA HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION WITHIN A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME. ALL THEY TELL ME EACH TIME I CALL IS TO WAIT UNTIL THE PART COMES IN. THIS IS THE ONLY CAR THAT OUR FAMILY USES TO COMMUTE TO/FROM WORK, AND SEEING AS HOW WE HAVE A FULL FAMILY, SOMEONE HAS TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. BEING PREGNANT, I AM CONCERNED FOR MY AND MY BABY'S SAFETY. I DO NOT APPRECIATE EXPRESSING MY CONCERNS FOR MY SAFETY AND HONDA'S RESPONSE BEING TO JUST SIT AND WAIT UNTIL THE PART COMES IN.
