FOUND MY A/C NOT WORKING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A ROCK MUST HAVE HIT THE CONDENSER AND CAUSED A PIN HOLE. WAS ALSO ADVISED BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND WAS DUE TO THE CONDENSER BEING MOUNTED VERY LOW TO THE GROUND BEHIND THE BUMPER. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A SHIELD OR OTHER SOLUTION TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE; I WAS TOLD NO. I THEN RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF FOLKS WITH THE SAME EXPERIENCE. THE REPAIR COST IS $700.00 WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN THEN MOMENT YOU LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF. IN ADDITION, THEY ARE REFERRING FOLKS TO CLAIM THE DAMAGE ON THEIR INSURANCE TO COVER THE REPAIR COSTS. HONDA HAS RESPONDED BY ADDING A "SHIELD" TO THEIR 2008 MODELS.....BUT HAS DONE NOTHING FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR OWNERS. *TR
MY HONDA ODYSSEY HAD BRAKING PROBLEM SINCE WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2006. IT IS HARD TO BRAKE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT RUNS TO DOWNHILL ROAD. IT ALSO GIVES A NOISE WHEN I BRAKES. I TOOK MY MINIVAN TO HONDA DEALERS A FEW TIMES AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY BRAKE PROBLEMS. BUT IT IS STILL THERE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, THE CONTACT'S SON ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE REAR SLIDING DOOR. THE DOOR SLAMMED ON HIS HAND AS IF THERE WERE NO SENSORS PRESENT. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
DURING DRIVING IN HIGHWAY, OIL CAP DETACHED FROM ITS PLACE, ENTERED RADIATOR FAN BOX AND BROOK THE RADIATOR. AS A RESULT THE CRUISE CONTROL RELEASED ITSELF, CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR AND VSA INDICATOR WAS LIT. THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER. *TR
I HAVE A NEWER 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN WITH ONLY 6000 MILES. THE AIR CONDITIONER NO LONGER WORKS (BLOWS WARM AIR). WAS TOLD THAT A ROCK HIT THE CONDENSER UNIT - AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEARCHING AROUND THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2005-2007 HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS HAVE COME ACROSS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE AC CONDENSER COILS ARE EXPOSED UNDER THE FRONT GRILL. ANY LITTLE ROCK OR DEBRIS CAN/WILL PUNCTURE THE AC LINES - CAUSING THE REFRIGERANT TO LEAK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT'S COSTING US $700+ DOLLARS TO FIX. HONDA MUST REALIZE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2005-2007 ODYSSEYS SINCE THEY NOW INCLUDE A GRILL GUARD ON THE 2008 MODEL. HONDA SHOULD RETRO FIT THE 2005-2007 ODYSSEY WILL SOME GRILL PROTECTION SCREEN TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE, AS OWNERS OF A NEW MINIVAN, SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $700+ TO HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONER FIXED WHEN WE'VE ONLY DRIVEN THE VAN FOR AS SHORT AS 4000 MILES. HONDA CAN REMEDY THIS WITH A VERY SIMPLE FIX. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 EX-L HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 11000 MILES ON IT. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT MUCH YET. I'VE NOTICED THAT MY A/C HAS STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT A ROCK HAS HIT A A/C CONDENSER AND FREON HAS LEAKED OUT AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST ME $960. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 TO COMPLAIN BUT THEY REJECTED MY CLAIM. I'M SEEING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH SAME ISSUE. I DON'T THINK IT'S A COINCIDENCE, BUT RATHER A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY LX MINIVAN. THE AC STOPPED WORKING. TWICE. WITHIN WARRANTY TIME/MILEAGE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE AC CONDENSER WAS DAMAGED BY STONE, CAUSING LEAKAGE OF CFC. I CALLED HONDA, THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. EVEN THE FRONT GRILLE THEY INSTALLED IN THEIR NEWER MODELS ARE "FOR ANY NUMBER OF REASONS, NOT NECESSARILY TO FIX THIS DESIGN FLAW". CFC KILLS OZONE LAYER. I FEEL BAD MY VAN DUMPED TWO TANKS OF CFC INTO THE (ALREADY BADLY POLLUTED) ATMOSPHERE . HONDA'S BAD DESIGN CAUSES BIG TIME POLLUTION, AND IT IS A PROBLEM THAT CAN BE FIXED WITH A TINY COST ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. HONDA CUTS CORNERS, AND THIS IS A BAD ONE. IT CAUSES CONSUMERS SO MUCH, BECAUSE HONDA WANTS TO SAVE A COUPLE OF BUCKS. OTHER CAR MAKERS MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE - THEY DO NOT COVER FRAGILE PART IN THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. *TR
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH PAX TIRES SYSTEM HAD 3 SETS TIRES PUT ON SO FAR WITH THE COST OF 700.00 A PAIR THE VAN IS 2 YEAR OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD, ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS WARMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO OFFERED TO PAY FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
BOUGHT A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH DVD/NAV IN MARCH OF 2006. IN OCTOBER '06, HAD ALIGNMENT REPAIRED DUE TO VAN PULLING TO RIGHT. IN MAY '07, REQUESTED ALIGNMENT BE CHECKED AGAIN FOR PULLING TO THE RIGHT, THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE $85 BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRED. WAS INFORMED BY HONDA SERVICE TECH IN MARCH 2008, WE NEEDED 4 BRAND NEW TIRES, NOT ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. VAN HAD 30, 413 MILES AND ALMOST DIDN'T PASS INSPECTION. TIRES ARE 235-710R460A AND WERE WORN TO 3/32 WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND ROTATION. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECH THAT YOU HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 AT A TIME AND COST WOULD BE $1211.73. WAS TOLD YOU CANNOT REPLACE PAX TIRE SYSTEM WITH REGULAR TIRES. DID MY OWN RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT YOU CAN, BUT UP-FRONT COST INCLUDING WHEELS, TIRES, AND LABOR WOULD BE ABOUT $2000. WAS NOT TOLD UPON PURCHASING THE VAN THAT THE TIRES WOULD NEED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT BETWEEN 25K-30K MILES! WE WERE TOLD PAX SYSTEM TIRES HAD EXCELLENT WEAR RATING AND WOULD LAST LONGER THAN REGULAR TIRES! HAD ALL TIRES REPLACED AND VAN STILL PULLS TO RIGHT. NOW WE'RE BEING TOLD OUR BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE'RE STUCK WITH THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE VALUE OF VAN HAD DECREASED WITH PAX TIRE SYSTEM COMPLAINTS. *TR
I AM UNAWARE OF SPECIFIC EVENTS WHICH LED TO THIS OCCURRENCE. AT THE FIRST SIGN OF WARM WEATHER, I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONER; IT WOULD ONLY BLOW WARM. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 3/17/08, AND WERE TOLD SOMETHING HAD HIT THE CONDENSER AND RENDERED IT INOPERABLE. THIS DEALER QUOTED $773 TO REPAIR, AND WE DECLINED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALER ON 4/4/08, AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS $829. AN ONLINE SEARCH REVEALED MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM; THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED BY HONDA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. AFTER DRIVING 15 MPH IN COLD WEATHER FOR AN HOUR OR LONGER, THE CONTACT HEARS A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE NOISE INTENSIFIES AS THE RPM'S INCREASE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE MAY BE THE POWER STEERING; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE NOISE IS HEARD ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 60 MINUTES. THE CONTACT HAS FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS FAILURE AND BELIEVES THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
AT AROUND 25,000 MILES, MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY DEVELOPED A NOISE IN THE ENGINE BAY, WHILE AND AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE POWER STEERING AT TIMES SEEMED WITHOUT ASSIST. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THE PROBLEM WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLICATE, AND THE PROBLEM IS INCREASING IN SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, AND NO REMEDY HAS BEEN OFFERED BY HONDA MOTORS, DESPITE MANY CLAIMS OF IDENTICAL SAFETY ISSUES FOUND UPON A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH. IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE COMPLETE POWER ASSIST FAILURE WILL CAUSE A COLLISION, PROPERTY DAMAGE AND INJURY. *TR
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH A BROKEN AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER, WHICH WAS BLOWING COLD AIR AT ALL SETTINGS. CONSUMER STATES THAT DEALER STATED THAT THIS REPLACEMENT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A ROAD HAZARD FAILURE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE CONDENSER WAS DAMAGED BY A ROCK. *JB
FAILURE OF DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. CAR HIT ON DRIVERS SIDE BY OTHER CAR. DRIVER'S DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED. CAR WAS TOTAL LOSS. *TR
PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH THE MICHELIN PAX TIRE SYSTEM. WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS TO DATE, BUT THE COST TO REPLACE TIRES ARE (3) TIMES THE COST OF REGULAR TIRES. 90% OF PEOPLE ARE CHANGING OUT WHEELS AND TIRES WITH REGULAR TIRES THAT COST MUCH LESS TO REPLACE. HONDA NEVER TOLD US THAT THE TIRE REPLACEMENT AND LABOR WOULD BE TWICE THAT FOR THE TIRES AND (5) TIMES THAT FOR THE LABOR TO REPLACE TIRES. WOULD LIKE TIRES REPLACED FOR THE COST OF NORMAL TIRES. *TR
AFTER A 45 MIN DRIVE WE BEGAN TO HEAR A JINGLING WHINING SOUND. TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND THE NOISE WAS GONE. I WAS TOLD THAT WITH NO NOISE THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. AFTER A WEEK I TOOK IT IN AND SAID THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY VAN AND THEY NEEDED TO KEEP IT UNTIL THEY LOCATED THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE. I WAS INFORMED AFTER A FEW HOURS THAT MY POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $600.00. AFTER SOME DISCUSSION THEY AGREED THAT THEY HAD BEEN HAVING COMPLAINTS/PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMPS AND THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE PARTS IF I WOULD PAY FOR THE LABOR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS HUGE DANGER BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING COULD COMPLETELY FAIL AT HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL. *TR
VAN STEERING JERKS WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEED
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, TWICE WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. HE HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000. UPDATED 03/04/09. *LJ THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 03/04/09. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING AND SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE HEATER PIPES CONTAINED MICE DROPPINGS. THE DEALER CLEANED THE HEATER PIPES AND AIR WAY FOUR TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT CORRECT THE DEFECT. SHE FOUND THAT THE PIPES WERE MADE WITH A CHEMICAL THAT ATTRACTS MICE, WHICH CONTRACTED AN AIRBORNE BACTERIA. HER TWO CHILDREN WERE TREATED FOR THE BACTERIA. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS DUE TO AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,000.
POWER STEERING PUMP NOISE. LED TO HARDER STEERING DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. TWO INSTANCES: 1) OUTSIDE TEMP 20F DEGREES TRYING TO MAKE A U-TURN IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, HAD TO USE MORE FORCE AND EFFORT THAN NORMAL TO STAY IN THE U-TURN. WOULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THERE WERE CARS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE STREET. 2) OUTSIDE TEMP BELOW 30F DEGREES. DROVE TO THE MALL 20 MINUTES AWAY ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN ENTERING THE PARKING LOT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NOISE WAS LOUD. AS I TRIED TO PARK IN BETWEEN TWO CARS, ENCOUNTERED A SLIGHT INCREASE IN EFFORT TO DIRECT THE VAN PROPERLY AND WITHOUT HITTING THE CARS ON EITHER SIDE INTO THE PARKING SPACE. WOULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THERE WAS SOMEONE STANDING TO GET INTO THE CAR ON EITHER SIDE. THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED SOMETIME IN DEC AND JAN NOT SURE OF DATES, BUT WHEN IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE. *TR
THE COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE BRAKES (FRONT) ON A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE CHIEF COMPLAINT IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND A SPONGY FEELING IN THE BRAKE PEDAL. STOPPING DISTANCE IS ALSO GREATER. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO HONDA DEALER AND FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED WITH DIFFERENT PADS (AROUND 15K - 18K MILES). PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED AGAIN AROUND 25K OR SO. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO HONDA. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT I OVER HEATED BRAKE ROTORS AND "WARPED" THEM. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA BY TELEPHONE. THEY STOOD BY THEIR DEALER AND NOTHING WAS DONE. PROBLEM OCCURS ON A REGULAR BASIS DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. BRAKING DISTANCE UNDER EMERGENCY CONDITIONS (YIELDING FOR AN AMBULANCE) IS POOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. UPON LOCKING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS WITHIN THE WIRING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED DURING COLD WEATHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY'S REAR SPOILER FLEW OFF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ALONG AN INTERSTATE NARROWLY MISSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THE SPOILER APPARENTLY BROKE DUE TO NORMAL USE WHILE THE VEHICLE HAD SOME ICE ON THE ROOF. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE I PURCHASED DENIED COVERAGE. I PAID TO REPLACE THE SPOILER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING IN TEMPERATURES BELOW 45 DEGREES OR MAKING TURNS THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. SINCE THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHEN THE STEERING PUMP BECAME HOT THE WHEEL MADE A LOUD WINDING NOISE SIMILAR TO A SIREN, CAUSING THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
HI, OUR 2006 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS SINCE NEW. IT ALSO MAKES A LOUD WHINE WHEN WHEEL TURNED TO SIDE AT LOW SPEEDS. WE HEARD THAT A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN WAS DONE FOR KNOWN POWER STEERING ISSUES, BUT WHEN TOOK TO DEALER WERE TOLD THAT OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED, AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT WOULD COST HUNDREDS $$ JUST TO DIAGNOSE, AND POSSIBLY THOUSANDS TO REPAIR... I OWN A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 22K, BOUGHT NEW IN 14 MONTHS AGO. THE AIR CONDITIONER WORKED THIS PAST SUMMER, BUT DUE TO WARM WEATHER ATTEMPTED TO RUN IT THIS WEEKEND AND ONLY WARM AIR CAME OUT. MY WIFE TOOK IT TO WOLFCHASE HONDA IN BARTLETT, TN. AND THE DEALER CHARGED HER $95 TO TELL US THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO A STONE HITTING THE COMPRESSOR. I DO SEE THAT THE 2008 HAS A NEW MODIFIED GRILLE THAT SHOULD PREVENT THIS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 . THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE VAN WAS STRUCK IN THE BACK BY A LARGE (SEMI) TRUCK. THE VAN REBOUNDED FORWARD FROM BEING HIT BY THE TRUCK. AT THIS TIME THE FRONT SEATS IN THE VAN COLLAPSED TO THE FULL BACK POSITION 180 DEGREES. THIS HAD US LYING FLAT, BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE WINDOWS. AS THE VAN CAME TO A STOP THE TRUCK CAME UP ALONG SIDE THE VAN AND STOPPED WITH THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEING LODGED IN THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VAN. THE VAN WAS HALF WAY IN THE THIRD LANE OF TRAFFIC AND HALF WAY ON THE SHOULDER. THE TRUCK WAS TIGHT AGAINST THE CENTER CONCRETE MEDIAN ON THE SHOULDER AND TIGHT INTO THE SIDE OF THE VAN. THE FLATTENING OUT OF THE FRONT SEATS PREVENTED US FROM CONTROLLING THE DIRECTION OF THE VAN AND WOULD HAVE BEEN A LIVING HELL FOR ANYBODY SITTING IN THE BACK SEATS. THIS COULD HAVE MADE THIS A MUCH WORSE ACCIDENT. IS THIS AN EXPECTED RESULT WHEN AN ODYSSEY IS HIT FROM BEHIND?
PURCHASED A 2006 ODYSSEY TOURING MODEL AND THE DEALER MISREPRESENTED THE VEHICLE'S "TOP OF THE LINE TIRES" BY CLAIMING SUPERIOR WEAR OF TIRES, THEIR VALUE, BENEFITS, OVERALL COST AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS... WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A SUPERIOR TIRE THAT WOULD LAST JUST AS LONG AS STANDARD TIRES IF NOT LONGER AND THEY WERE MUCH SAFER - TOLD 50,000 MILES BEFORE HAVING TO CONSIDER REPLACING THEM; WOULD PROVIDE SUPERIOR ROAD HANDLING; QUIETER RIDES; BETTER GAS MILEAGE; AND BECAUSE OF THE EXPECTED LIFE OF THE TIRE AND IMPROVED GAS MILEAGE, IT WOULD BENEFIT THE ENVIRONMENT (LESS WASTE CREATED). WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THEY ARE JUST A BIT MORE TO REPLACE THAN CONVENTIONAL TIRES BECAUSE OF THE GEL INSIDE BUT WELL WORTH THE ADDITIONAL 10% IT WOULD COST OVER TRADITIONAL TIRES BECAUSE OF THEIR SAFETY. ALSO INFORMED THAT I SHOULD NOT WORRY THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME WITH A SPARE OR JACK BECAUSE THE TIRES CAN RUN FLAT FOR 150 MILES AND THAT THE MAJORITY OF MICHELIN AND HONDA DEALERS IN THE US ARE ABLE TO REPAIR / REPLACE THE TIRE AND THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. TOLD THAT THEY CAME WITH A GREAT WARRANTY AND THAT MICHELIN WOULD REPLACE THE TIRE IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO THEM DURING THEIR WARRANTY PERIOD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME WITH A SPARE. DEALER MISREPRESENTED THE ACTUAL REPLACEMENT AND MAINTENANCE COST OF THE TIRES THAT NOW APPEARS TO BE ON AN 18 MONTH 20-25,000 MILE BASIS. BASED ON MY PAST EXPERIENCE, A GOOD SET OF TIRES AVERAGE 5 YEARS 45-50,000 MILES AND HAVE A COST OF 50% LESS TO MAINTAIN / REPLACE. BASES ON THEIR ACTUAL COST AND THE RATE OF WARE, THE TIRES WILL COST ME 4 TIMES AS MUCH AS A COMPARABLE STANDARD SET OF TIRE. THERE IS ONLY A HANDFUL OF DEALERS IN MY LOCAL AREA THAT ARE EQUIP TO DEAL WITH THIS TIRE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF TIRE AND SPECIAL TRAINING NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TIRES, NATIONWIDE, THERE IS LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF DEALERS THAT COULD HANDLE A BLOWOUT PROMOTING FOR POTENTIAL PRICE GOUGING. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY FOR ONE YEAR WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE REFRIGERANT LEAKED OUT DUE TO A SMALL HOLE IN THE CONDENSER COIL. THE HOLE CAME FROM A SMALL ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT THAT WAS KICKED UP WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE COIL IS UP FRONT, BELOW THE FRONT LICENSE PLATE, AND FULLY EXPOSED TO ROAD HAZARDS. THE DESIGN DEFECT HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS FOR HUNDREDS OF OTHERS ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION ON VARIOUS WEB SITES. THE DEALER ADVISED IT WILL COST $700 TO REPAIR AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SUGGESTED I CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN HONDA (CASE# N012007-08-2400679) BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM. THE DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER CLAIMS TO HAVE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AS WELL AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED. *TR

THIS IS A WIDELY REPORTED PROBLEM, WHICH HAS HAPPENED TO MANY HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS, SOME MORE THAN ONCE. I HAVE A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L WITH FEWER THAN 15K MILES ON IT. I T TOOK IT TO THE DEAL BECAUSE ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING OUT OF IT. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING OUT OF MY RADIATOR. THE DEALER ATTRIBUTED THIS TO A STONE HITTING THE RADIATOR AND CAUSING THE LEAK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE 2006 ODYSSEY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE AS I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF OF THE ROAD. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE COULD HAVE SEIZE DUE TO LACK OF COOLANT AND I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A SERIOUS WRECK AND POSSIBLE INJURY TO ME, MY PASSENGERS OR OTHERS. I RECOMMEND THAT THE NHTSA TAKE ACTION ON BEHALF OF ALL CONSUMERS WHO OWN THIS VEHICLE TO FORCE A RECALL FROM HONDA TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
