COMPLAINT WITH MICHELIN PAX SYSTEM RUN-FLAT TECHNOLOGY: 235-710R 460A 104T. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRES A 2ND TIME IN ONLY 45K MILES. THEY WEAR TOO FAST. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. I WAS NEVER TOLD BY HONDA I WOULD HAVE THESE ISSUES. I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS BUT TO PURCHASE THE SAME TIRES AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BY EITHER HONDA OR MICHELIN. I KNOW I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT HAD HER VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) IN 2007. TWO YEARS LATER, SHE EXPERIENCED AN ABNORMAL SURGE AND SLIPPAGE WHILE IN SECOND GEAR. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE HER TRANSMISSION AT THE COST OF $2,100, WHICH WAS A FIFTY PERCENT DISCOUNT. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HER TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 79,475.
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY, ELECTRIC SIDE DOOR REMAINS AJAR WILL NOT CLOSE THEREFORE DRIVING WITH A DOOR THAT WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY, AFTER SPEEDS ABOVE 100KM AND I OPEN FRONT WINDOWS IN FRONT IT SEEMS THE SIDE DOOR CLOSES, DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS CAUSED BY VACUUM SUCTION? HOWEVER THIS PAST WEEK DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF WHILE ON THE ROAD? THANK GOD NO ONE WAS IN BACK WHILE DRIVING.. *TR
HARD STEERING OCCURS WHEN CAR IS HOT. HONDA DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO COVER THE REPAIRS. NEEDS TO CHANGE STEERING WHEEL PUMP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN ENERGY LX4 TIRES(NA), SIZE 235/70R17. THE DOT NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD NEED TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER REPLACED THE TIRES WITH THE SAME TYPE OF TIRES THAT WERE ORIGINALLY ON THE VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. HE WAS INFORMED AGAIN THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE EXHIBITING TREAD WEAR AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES, BUT NOT THE REAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
STEERING BECOMES STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO STEER AFTER DRIVING 25MINS. NOTICING WHINING POWER STEERING NOISE. STARTED AT 40,000 MILES AND IT IS NOW 55,000 MILES AND THE DEALER WILL NOT OVER EVEN PART OF THE $600 COST. *TR
MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY DOOR HAD BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR A FEW MONTHS WHEN I TOOK IT IN YESTERDAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. WHEN THE AUTOMATIC REVERSING MECHANISM KICKED IN THE PREVIOUS NIGHT, A ROLLER BEARING SNAPPED OFF. I SHOWED THE BROKEN BEARING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, BUT HE SAID HE COULDN'T FIX IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO USE THE MANUAL OVERRIDE. WHEN I GOT BACK HOME, I PUT MY DAUGHTER INTO THE MIDDLE CAR SEAT AND COULD ONLY OPEN THE SLIDING DOOR HALF WAY MANUALLY. I CLOSED IT MANUALLY AND REOPENED IT AND THE DOOR FELL OFF SMASHING INTO MY KNEES PINNING ME AGAINST THE ADJACENT CAR, AND I REQUIRED ASSISTANCE TO REMOVE THE DOOR FROM MY BODY. THE DOOR HAD TO BE SECURED WITH RATCHET STRAPS AND TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE BEEN INJURED BY THE DOOR. *TR
I WAS CLOSING THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR ON MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WHEN IT SUDDENLY REVERSED PINCHING AND CRUSHING MY RIGHT ARM. I USED THE EXTERIOR HANDLE, PULLED IT ONCE, AND MOVED TO THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AS I WAS PASSING BY THE MOVING DOOR, I WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE MINIVAN SLIGHTLY. IT GAVE AN AUDIBLE ALERT AND IMMEDIATELY REVERED PINCHING MY RIGHT BICEP BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE SIDE OF THE VAN. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY BACK IN NOV, 2006. WHEN I WAS LOOKING FOR A VAN I ASKED THE SALES PERSON IN ROCK HONDA IN FONTANA, CA THAT I NEEDED A GOOD CAR BECAUSE I HAD CHILDREN AND I DID NOT WANTED TO BE HAVING PROBLEMS ON THE ROAD AND OF COURSE I'M WAS A WOMAN THAT DIDN'T DO ANY AUTO WORK, SO I NEEDED SOMETHING EASY TO MAINTAIN, WELL TO MY SURPRISE THE TIRES THAT THIS VAN HAS, BUT THAT I WAS NOT TOLD AT THE DEALER THAT THESE TIRES (PAX SYSTEM) WEAR REALLY FAST AND ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND ONLY A HONDA DEALER CAN CHANGE THEM. WHEN I TOOK MY VAN TO HAVE THE TIRES CHANGED, I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND TOLD ME THAT ONLY A HONDA DEALER OR A CERTIFIED SHOP COULD DO IT AND THE COST IS $1,500.00 TO CHANGE THEM. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE ROCK HONDA AND THEY ACTUALLY HUNG UP ON ME 3 TIMES, ONE OF THE SALES PERSON TOLD ME THAT TIRES WERE EASY TO CHANGE THAT "HE COULD PURCHASE AND CHANGE TIRES IN HIS OWN GARAGE" THAT THE PEOPLE FROM THE SHOP DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. WELL I CALLED HONDA MOTOR CO,INC AND MICHELIN AND THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS APOLOGIZED FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE MAINTENANCE I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT, BUT OH WELL I'M STUCK WITH IT NOW, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THE ROOF IS LEAKING AND THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER LEAKS, AND THE DOOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN IT OPENS AND CLOSES BUT IT'S THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE WARRANTY. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER. HONDA KNEW THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN SOME MODELS THAT ALLOWS ROCKS TO GO THROUGH THE GRILLE AND HIT THE CONDENSER MAKING A HOLE. *TR
FRONT BRAKE PADS WEAR FAST AND CAUSES STEERING TO SHAKE AROUND 30-40 MPH. *TR
PAX TIRES ON HONDA ODYSSEY. THEY QUICKLY WEAR OUT, AND COST $1300 TO REPLACE. THE ONLY SOURCE FOR THE TIRES IS THE HONDA DEALER -- NO OTHER VENDORS AVAILABLE. IF WE REPLACE THE WHEELS WITH NON-PAX PARTS WE WILL HAVE CONSTANT COMPUTER WARNINGS WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WILL REGISTER "0 PSI" TIRE PRESSURE. TIRES SPECS PROVIDED BY THIS WEBSITE (WIDTH, RIM, ETC) ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NUMBERS FROM TIRES. TIRES SAY "ENERGY LX4 RADIAL XSE 235-710 R460A 104T PAX" NONE OF THESE FACTS WERE DISCLOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR. *TR
AT LOW SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING PUMP ON MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L LOOSES ALL ABILITY TO TURN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLESOME WHEN TRYING TO PARK. THE ONLY WAY TO ALLEVIATE THIS IS TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL, APPLY A FOOT TO THE BRAKE, AND APPLY SLIGHT PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL. THIS OBVIOUSLY SPEEDS UP THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH ALLOWS ME TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS NOT A SAFE SOLUTION TO PERFORM FOR ANY REASON. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY MINI VAN. SINCE FEB 2009, THE POWER STEERING ASSISTING SYSTEM FAILED TO WORK AT LOW SPEED. IT'S HARD TO OPERATE THE STEERING WHEEL AT THIS MOMENT. MOST TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN I TRY TO MAKE A TURN IN PARK LOT OR LOCAL ROAD. THIS PROBLEM ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I DIVERT FROM HIGH WAY TO THE RAMP. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WARMER BURNED THE LEG OF A NINE YEAR OLD CHILD. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN TO THE DOCTOR AND SUFFERED SECOND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS ON HIS LEFT CALF. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I OWN A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM IS WITH MY AC. IT WORKED ONE DAY AND THE VERY NEXT DAY IT STOPPED WORKING. GIVEN THE FACT THAT I VE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS, I DECIDED TO GOOGLE THE INTERNET JUST TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAVE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. AND SURE ENOUGH I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
I OWN A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH MICHELIN PAX RUN-FLAT SYSTEM. THE PAX TIRES WORN SO PREMATURELY COMPARED TO OTHER REGULAR TIRES. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED AROUND 25K MILES OF DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, AND A HONDA DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE CAUSED BY MY DRIVING HABITS, AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE COVERED BY ANY WARRANTIES BOTH BY HONDA AND MICHELIN. NOW AT THE MILEAGE OF +40K, ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE ALMOST NO TREAD TO GRAB THE ROAD AND THE REPLACING COST IS JUST RIDICULOUSLY HIGH AROUND $1200. BY OBSERVING SO MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ON THE SAME DEFECTS, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOTH HONDA AND MICHELIN VOLUNTARILY RECALL THESE FAILED PRODUCT SO THE SUFFERING OWNERS COULD SWAP THEM WITH REGULAR PERFORMERS. *TR
MY WIFE PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE AND TOOK POSSESSION OF OUR 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. I IMMEDIATELY NOTED A VERY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED, THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT ROLLED FORWARD WHILE THE BRAKE WAS SET BUT I FEEL IT MAY IF IT SAT LONG ENOUGH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. NO REPAIR HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED AS I'M NOT CERTAIN OF THE CAUSE. BRAKE FLUID IS NOT LOW SO I ASSUME AIR HAS SOMEHOW GOTTEN INTO THE BRAKE LINES. *TR
I WAS MAKING A THREE POINT TURN IN A PARKING LOT AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE THE CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE. IT ACTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO A DEALERSHIP NEXT WEEK. FORUMS STATE THE THIS HAS OCCURRED QUITE OFTEN IN LEXUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, SHE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE ABS/TCS OR VSA MODULATOR CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN EXPENSE OF $1200.00. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE09024, SERVICE BRAKES HYDRAULIC ANTI LOCK IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. IT APPEARS TOO BE HAPPENING ON ALL THE 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. I BELIEVE IT COULD EASILY LEAD TOO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
2006 ODYSSEY HAS WARPED BRAKE ROTORS, BUT THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP; THIS IS "VERY NORMAL" FOR ODYSSEY EVEN FOR 1 OR 2 YEAR OLD VAN. MY ROTORS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY ARE WARPED, NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR (BECOMING TOO THIN). THIS IS MORE LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT PARTS THAN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR PROBLEM. *JS
EVERY YEAR, WITHIN 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES, OUR 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT BRAKES. THE PROBLEM BEGINS WITH A MILD SIDE TO SIDE SHAKING OF THE FRONT END WHILE BRAKING, TYPICALLY WORSE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THIS SHAKING CAN BE FELT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE CABIN, INCLUDING BY ALL SEATED PASSENGERS. IF LEFT UNRESOLVED FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME, THE SHAKING CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY THE LONGER YOU WAIT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE INTENSITY OF THIS ISSUE LITERALLY CAUSES US TO AVOID BRAKING IN ORDER TO AVOID EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT IN FOR THIS PROBLEM WE ARE TOLD THAT THE FRONT ROTORS HAVE WARPED, AND WE WILL NEED TO REPLACE BOTH THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS IS AN UNREALISTIC TIME FRAME FOR CONSUMERS TO HAVE TO ABSORB SUCH A SUBSTANTIAL COST RELATED TO THE SAFETY OF A VEHICLE. THE REASON I AM REPORTING THIS ISSUE IS THAT THIS HAS BEEN A YEARLY ONGOING SAFETY ISSUE FOR US, AND IN DOING SOME CONSUMER COMPARISON I AM FINDING THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN EXPERIENCING IT. NEARLY EVERY ODYSSEY OWNER I SPEAK WITH CONFIRMS THE SAME ISSUE. ALL OF US ARE BEING TOLD BY HONDA THAT "IT MUST BE THE WAY YOU DRIVE". MY LOCAL MECHANIC RECENTLY ADDED THAT HE DISCOVERED THAT HONDA IS NO LONGER OFFERING ANY WARRANTY COVERAGE OVER THESE PARTICULAR PARTS - IN HIS OPINION AN ADMISSION THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THEIR VEHICLES IN THAT AREA. PLEASE REQUIRE HONDA TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY OF THESE VEHICLES BY SOLVING WHATEVER INADEQUATE DESIGN OR PRODUCT IS CAUSING THE FRONT BRAKES TO EXPERIENCE SUCH FREQUENT AND DRAMATIC FAILURES. BOUGHT HONDA ODYSSEY ON MAY,2006;REPLACED TIRES ON JULY,2008 FOR $1300 (35,000K),TIRE WENT FLAT DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION, PAID $550 TO FIX THIS TIRE'; IT HAPPENED ON CHRISTMAS EVE, 160 MILES AWAY FROM HOME,WERE ABLE TO DRIVE ONLY 10MILES (NOT 125) ,COST $300 TO TOW A CAR, TIRE STARTED SHAKING RIGHT AFTER REPLACEMENT, FIXED FOR ADDITIONAL $100 ON MARCH, 2009. I JUST PURCHASED A BRITAX MARATHON CARSEAT FROM BABIES R US IN WAPPINGERS FALLS/POUGHKEEPSIE NY. WHEN I GOT THE SEAT HOME I OPENED THE BOX AND WAS GETTING READY TO SET IT UP TO FIT MY 6 MONTH OLD SON AND PUT IT IN MY CAR. IT IS AT THIS TIME THAT I NOTICED THE "LATCH" BELTS WERE MISSING. I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS JUST THIS SEAT, I PLAN TO TAKE IT BACK TO GET ANOTHER ONE MONDAY, OR IF ALL THE ONES AT THE STORE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I OWN ANOTHER ONE OF THIS EXACT SEAT FOR MY 2.5 YEAR OLD AND THIS IS HOW I CAUGHT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY RECALLS, BUT WOULD LIKE TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS. THESE STRAPS ARE SEWN ONTO THE SEAT AND THEREFORE IT IS NOT JUST THAT SOMEONE REMOVED THEM FROM THE BOX. I HOPE THAT THERE ARE NOT OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE USING THIS SEAT WITHOUT THE PROPER LATCHES. AS I WAS LOOKING FOR THE INFORMATION ON THE SEAT, I WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE MODEL NUMBER, AND THE EXACT DATE OF MANUFACTURING. IT JUST SAY ON THE BOX (NOT THE SEAT) AUGUST 2008. POWER STEERING FLYWHEEL FELL OFF AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED DRAINING THE BATTERY. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT APPROX 35MPH. WHEN TRIED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, THE CAR POWER SYSTEM FAILED. THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED COMPLETELY AND LOST ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR. THE CAR HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE SIDE IN BUSY STREET. IT REQUIRED THE ASSISTANCE FROM GOOD SAMARITANS. SAFETY HAZARD IF IN REMOTE AREA AND OR BUSY STREET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 35 MINUTES, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MOVE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. BEGAN DURING COLDER WEATHER WITH WHINING NOISE FROM POWER STEERING WHEN WEATHER BELOW 40 F. THIS OCCURRED TWO YEARS IN A ROW. CURRENTLY AT SLOW SPEEDS < 30 STEERING INPUT IS MORE DIFFICULT AND REQUIRES MUCH MORE EFFORT TO STRAIN AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL. HONDA WAS CONTACTED FIRST YEAR OF WHINING AND STATED PROBLEM WAS DUE TO COLD WEATHER. SINCE THEN I HAVE LEARNED THAT THREE SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED FOR SAME COMPLAINT. HONDA TSB 07-005 DATED 01/26/07 THEN REPLACED BY TSB 07-005 DATED 06/17/08 THEN TSB 07-005 DATED 08/21/09. I BOUGHT A NEW 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX REAR DVD AND NAVIGATION VAN. A FEW DAYS BACK (AT 26,000MILES AND LESS THAN 3YRS), THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF THE CAR... I QUICKLY PULLED OVER CALLED THE DUBLIN HONDA, CA DEALER. THEY ADVISED ME TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER I THAT I WAS ADVISED THAT THE A/C CONDENSER HAS A HAIR-PIN SIZE HOLE (NOT VISIBLE TO NAKED EYE) AND THAT'S THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY HONDA BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY.. I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT. I HAD TO PAY $880.76 FOR THIS REPAIR FOR A $40,000.00 VAN WHICH IS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY.... THIS IS RIDICULOUS.. HONDA PUT THE CONDENSER AT THE WRONG PLACE (WITHOUT A FRONT GUARD) AND MAKE ITS CUSTOMERS PAY FOR ITS RIDICULOUS DESIGN.. IN THE NEW MODELS NOW THEY HAVE PUT A GUARD TO PROTECT THE CONDENSER. OUR 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY'S BRAKE PEDAL WAS FINE UNTIL THE DEALER REPLACE THE VSA MODULATOR DUE TO FAILURE ON OCT 8,2008.THE BRAKE PEDAL FEEL VERY LOW AND SPONGY WHEN APPLY BRAKE PRESSURE. ON NOV 9, 2009, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A 15,000 MILES SERVICES AND HAVE THEM CHECK THE LOW BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN. THEY EVEN FLUSH THE BRAKING SYSTEM TWICE AND STILL FOUND PEDAL SLIGHTLY LOW. OUR QUESTION IS WHY DOES HONDA NOT INCLUDE OUR 2006 ODYSSEY IN THE 2007 & 2008 ODYSSEY RECALL AS WELL IF IT PRESENT THE SAME PROBLEM FOR OUR 2006. THE REAR HEADPHONE SYSTEM (BOTH WIRED AND WIRELESS HEADPHONES) DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE DVD SYSTEM IS IN OPERATION. THE HEADPHONES WORK FOR CD AND RADIO FUNCTIONS, BUT NOT THE DVD. THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN PRIMARILY WHEN THE CAR IS IN GEAR. WHEN I GET IN THE BACK TO CHECK OUT THE SYSTEM WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK, IT WORKS FINE. WHEN WE'VE STARTED DRIVING, IT STOPS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS. *TR
OCCASIONALLY DURING HEAVY RAIN, WE LOOSE OUR POWER STEERING FOR A PERIOD OF 20-45 SECONDS OR MORE. AT THE SAME TIME THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS UP. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURS. FORTUNATELY IT HAS NOT HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT AS OF YET. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. JUST PURCHASED A USED 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX ON 8/14/08 WHICH HAD PASSED SAFETY INSPECTION AS REQUIRED BY STATE OF MISSOURI ON 8/13/08. THE BRAKES FEEL VERY SOFT AND EVEN ON A NORMAL STRAIGHT ROAD, IT REQUIRES A LOT MORE TRAVEL AND PRESSURE TO BE APPLIED BEFORE IT WILL COME TO A STOP. JUST TODAY ON 8/16/2008, WAS IN A NEAR ACCIDENT ALONG OLIVE BLVD AND FEE ROAD DUE TO THE BRAKE TRAVEL WAS MORE THAN NECESSARY. WILL BE TRAVELING OUT OF COUNTRY ON 8/19/08 FOR 10 BUSINESS DAYS. ONCE BACK, WILL SEEK OUT HUEY'S HONDA ADVISE. MY SUSPICIONS RAISED, THIS BEGINS TO SOUND LIKE A REHEARSED STORY OF "A ROCK HAS HIT YOUR AC CONDENSER PUTTING A HOLE IN IT" . IT WOULD APPEAR THAT HONDA NEGLECTED TO INCLUDE A SIMPLE GRILL IN THE AREA BENEATH THE LICENSE PLATE FRAME THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS FROM OCCURRING. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM THAT LEAVES IT VULNERABLE TO ROAD DEBRIS THAT CAN PASS THROUGH THE GRILL AND PIERCE THE CONDENSER LEADING TO LOSS OF FREON AND NO A/C. ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY SON AND DAUGHTER HAVE HAD THERE HAND CAUGHT IN THE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR ON OUR 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE ELECTRIC DOOR BOASTS OF A AUTO REVERSE FEATURE WHEN IT ENCOUNTERS RESISTANCE. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE LATCHING FRONT SIDE OF THE SLIDING DOOR. THERE IS NO SUCH SENSOR ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE DOOR. IN ADDITION, THE REAR SIDE OF THE DOOR IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE MIDDLE AND REAR SEATS. SO THAT DAY I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM SERVICE AND SURE ENOUGH THEY SAID A ROCK HAS DAMAGED YOUR CONDENSER AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THAT IS CONSIDER ROAD DEBRIS AND IT WILL COST YOU 800.00. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY SEE THIS EVERY WEEK AND THEN HE SAID I MEAN ONCE A MONTH SO I WAS CURIOUS AND GOT ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYBODY ELSE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND SURE ENOUGH HUNDREDS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA CORP AND THEY SAID SORRY IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT IS ROAD DEBRIS DAMAGE. IT?S NOT MY FAULT AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER CONSUMERS FAULT THAT THEY POORLY DESIGNED THE HONDA ODYSSEYS AND HONDA ACCORDS. I NOTICED ON THE NEW 2008 VANS AND CARS THEY HAVE A PROTECTION ON THE FRONT NOW. BUT THAT?S NOT FAIR FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED A VAN OR CAR 2007 OR EARLIER. I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS MATTER AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I DIDN'T PAY $30,000.00 FOR A VAN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
