2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L LIFTGATE STRUTS NOT WORKING. I HAD THE HATCH DOOR OPEN & IT SUDDENLY SHUT HARD ON IT'S OWN. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE GETTING GROCERIES FROM THE VAN AT THE TIME. UNTIL THIS TIME, THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE PARTS WERE WEARING. I JUST HAD THE VAN IN A HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 4/21 FOR REPAIRS THAT INCLUDED HAVING THEM CHECK OUT WHY THE CARGO AREA WAS FILLED WITH WATER. I WILL ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS & INSTALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE MINUTES LATER AND NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED A SECOND TIME AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY ONCE THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000. 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY 36K MILES. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR NO LONGER LATCHES CLOSED IN THE BACK WHEN IT CLOSES. THIS IS A GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
DRIVER WAS SWITCHING LANE ON A FREEWAY. THE SIGNAL DID NOT WORK. ON THE SAME DAY, THE POWER DOOR LOCK AND POWER SLIDING DOOR AND KEYLESS ENTRY DID NOT WORK TOO. AFTER TAKING IT TO HONDA, ACCORDING TO THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN ON 11/12/08, THEY CLAIMED IT IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND B-CAN DTC AFTER EXPOSURE TO THE WATER LEAKS. THE SERVICE BULLETIN CLAIMED WATER ENTER WHERE THE CONNECTOR C701 BEHIND THE LEFT REAR SIDE TRIM PANEL. THE CORRECTION ACTION IS SEAL THE PWR SLIDING DOOR PULLEY MOUNT, REPOSITION THE FOAM BLOCK, DRY CONNECTOR C701, AND APPLY DIELECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONNECTOR. IF THE ISSUE OCCURS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY, A GOODWILL CONSIDERATION WOULD BE OFFER BUT NEEDS TO BE REQUESTED. I END UP PAYING HALF WHICH I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR BECAUSE: 1) I PARK MY VAN IN MY GARAGE 2) MY VAN IS 4 YRS OLD AND IS ONLY 37K YOUNG, 3) I LIVE IS A RELATIVELY DRY CLIMATE, IN CA FOR THESE REASONS, MY CAR IS INDOOR 95% AND SPENDS 98% OF ITS TIME IN DRY CLIMATE. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS A DEFECT AND DOES CAUSE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT IMPACTS TURNING SIGNALS. ANOTHER REASON WHY I THINK IT IS UNFAIR IS THE DAY I GOT MY CAR BACK AFTER IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 5 DAYS, IT WAS WORKING WHEN I PICKED IT UP AND THEN BY THE TIME I GOT HOME, IT WASN'T WORKING. I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG AND I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE IDENTIFY A ROOT CAUSE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE PASSENGERS SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR, THERE WAS AN UNUSUALLY LOUD RUMBLE AND THE ENTIRE DOOR FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE ALTHOUGH THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO TWO TREES AND SUFFERED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH; THE FAILURE WAS DUPLICATED BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE WHEN THE BUTTON ENGAGED TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WHICH WOULD NOT CLOSE WHEN THE BUTTON WAS ENGAGED. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
BASED ON A REPORT TODAY THAT HONDA IS RECALLING 2003/2004 HONDA ODYSSEY WHERE THE ISSUE INVOLVES THE IGNITION INTERLOCK, A DEVICE INTENDED TO ENSURE THAT THE KEY CAN ONLY BE REMOVED WHEN A VEHICLE IS FIRMLY SHIFTED INTO PARK. I HAVE A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY AND HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE IN 2010 WHERE AFTER PARKING AND REMOVING MY KEYS AND I GOT DOWN, THE VAN MOVED BACKWARDS AND THE MY FRONT DOOR HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING LOT DAMAGING BOTH CARS, AND I HAD TO FILE A CLAIM WITH UNITRIN DIRECT. THE RESULT BEING I HAVE A FAULT ACCIDENT RECORD ON MY LICENSE AND MY INSURANCE WENT UP FOR NO FAULT OF MINE. I THINK HONDA SHOULD RECALL EVEN THE 2006 MODEL AND PAY ME BACK FROM MY REPAIRS AND EXTRA INSURANCE PAYMENTS THAT I HAVE PAID AND WORK WITH DMV/UNITRIN TO REMOVE THE FAULT ACCIDENT RECORD THAT I HAVE ON MY LICENSE. *TR
TORQUE CONVERTER PULSATION AND VIBRATION. *TR
I WAS CLEANING MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WHEN I NOTICED AFTER LIFTING UP THE HOOD OF THE MINIVAN THAT THE GROUNDING STRAP FROM THE ENGINE CHASSIS WAS NOT ATTACHED TO A NON-PAINTED SURFACE ON THE CHASSIS. THE SURFACE THAT THE STRAP WAS ATTACHED TO WAS PAINTED THE SAME COLOR AS THE MINIVAN. I TOOK OUT MY OHMMETER AND MEASURED ABOUT 100 AND 200 MILLIOHMS FROM LUG TO CHASSIS AT TWO DIFFERENT POINTS. THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN WHAT IS ALLOWED BY ELECTRICAL SAFETY GUIDELINES AND E3 STANDARDS. THIS FLAW COULD CAUSE ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND E3 ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE.
MY HONDA ODDYSSEY WHEN I TAKE A CURVE AND I NEED TO STOP, THE BRAKES ARE SO SOFT AND MY VAN TAKE TOO LONG TO STOP. THE DEALER SAID THAT WAS UNABLE TO REPLY THIS PROBLEM, SO THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND I STILL WITH THAT PROBLEM, I DON'T KNOW WHO CAN HELP ME TO MAKE MY DEALER FIX MY PROBLEM, I FEEL IS NOT SAFE
POWER LIFTGATE CLOSES UNEXPECTEDLY EVERY TIME IT IS OPENED ON MODEL YEAR 2006 ODYSSEY TOURING VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH POWER OPERATED REAR LIFTGATE. VEHICLE OWNER HIT IN HEAD BY CLOSING LIFTGATE. RIGHT POWER LIFTGATE GAS STRUT HAS WORN OUT PREMATURELY AND FAILS TO HOLD THE POWER LIFTGATE IN THE FULLY OPEN POSITION. PARTS REPLACED BY DEALER TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY REAR TAILGATE STRUTS FAILED COMPLETELY, CAUSING THE REAR TAILGATE TO "FREEFALL" WITH NO SUPPORT. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS UNDER THE GATE WHEN IT INITIALLY COLLAPSED, BUT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I'VE SEEN THAT HONDA IS VOLUNTARILY RECALLING 2005 MODELS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NOT THE 2006 WE OWN.
PLEASE REVIEW YOUR 10V-055000 CONCERNING 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING'S REAR LIFT GATE SUPPORT CYLINDERS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2006 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF THE 36 MONTH/36000 MILE WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY, MY WIFE DID NOT TELL ME OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL A WEEK AFTER THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY EXPIRED. HONDA SHOWS THE PART NUMBER FOR THIS LIFT CYLINDER AS 74820-SHJ-A61. THIS PART NUMBER WAS USED ON 2005-2008 VEHICLES. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AT FIRST WAS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING. AFTER I INSISTED HE CALL HONDA, HE INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL IN PROGRESS. HOWEVER, SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT CURRENTLY A PART OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE BEST HONDA WOULD DO WAS PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IF I PAID THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE LABOR. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HONDA KNOWS THEY HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM, BUT ARE UNWILLING TO EXPAND THE RECALL. INSTEAD, THEY ARE TRYING TO FIX THE LARGER PROBLEM ON THE CHEAP. AND THEN, ONLY IF THEY ARE CALLED TO TASK ABOUT IT. IT IS CLEAR TO ME, THAT AS TIME GOES ON, THE 2006, 2007, AND 2008 VEHICLES WILL EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEMS. PLEASE GET THIS RECALL EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2006-2008 VEHICLES, AS WELL AS THE 2005 VEHICLES. IT IS THE SAME PART NUMBER FOR ALL VEHICLES, 2005-2008. *TR
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 78000 MILES SUFFERED BROKEN ENGINE MOUNTS, SEALS. ALSO HAD POWER STEERING PUMP FAILURE CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN STEERING WHILE DRIVING

WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX ON SLIGHT SLOPES AT APPROXIMATELY 25-35 MPH UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION, MY VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHUDDER STRONGLY ENOUGH THAT I CAN FEEL IT THROUGH THE FOOT PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY IN MY IN-TOWN DRIVING FOLLOWING FREQUENT STOPS, AND CONTINUES FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL I INCREASE SPEED AND RPM. IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A STRONG FORWARD JOLTING MOTION WHEN MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS AS I AM SLOWING BEHIND OTHER CARS OR AS I AM SLOWING TO MAKE A TURN OF MY OWN. THE JOLT FORWARD HAS BEEN SO STRONG THAT IT FEELS LIKE I'M HITTING THE ACCELERATOR, AND I HAVE HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO KEEP FROM OVERSHOOTING MY TURN OR REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE FEELING 'SOFT'. I HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE RECALL FOR THE SAME MODEL FROM 2007 TO 2008. HOWEVER, DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE OUR CAR IS FROM 2006 MODEL YEAR. *TR
AN OBJECT, MOST LIKELY ROAD DEBRIS LIKE ROCKS OR PEBBLES, IMPACTED THE A/C CONDENSER CAUSING THE A/C TO LEAK RENDERING THE SYSTEM INOPERABLE. DUE TO HONDA'S DESIGN OF THE FRONT BUMPER, THE A/C CONDENSER IS COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO DEBRIS. IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE CONDENSER MUST BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD COST AN ESTIMATED BILL OF CLOSE TO $1000 IN PARTS AND LABOR. EVEN AFTER THE FIX, THE CONDENSER STILL REMAINS EXPOSED AND THE LIKELIHOOD OF THIS EVENT HAPPENING AGAIN REMAINS HIGH DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE FRONT BUMPER. THIS PROBLEM WAS OBVIOUSLY FIXED BY HONDA IN THE 2008 YEAR BY INSTALLING A "HONEYCOMB" TYPE GRILLE TO COVER THIS AREA TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF DEBRIS IMPACTING THE CONDENSER. *TR
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY SOMETIME IN EARLY 2007. ON MARCH 12, 2010 WE HAD TO RESURFACE THE ROTORS OF OUR BRAKES FOR THE 3RD TIME BECAUSE OF WARPED BRAKE ROTORS. RIGHT NOW THE ODYSSEY HAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES ON IT. SO BASICALLY, WE HAVE HAD TO RESURFACE OUR BRAKES ROTORS ON AVERAGE EVERY 23,000 MILES. BEFORE WE DO EACH RESURFACING, THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WOULD SHAKE AND SHUDDER WITH BRAKING THAT OCCURS AT SPEEDS OVER 35MPH. WE HAVE HAD 6 DIFFERENT CARS IN OUR LIVES AND NONE OF THE CARS HAD TO HAVE THEIR ROTORS RESURFACED, EVER. *TR
SINCE EARLY 2010, THE STEERING PUMP IN MY 2006 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN MAKING AN INTERMITTENT WHINING NOISE. WHEN IT MAKES THIS NOISE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES DIFFICULT TO TURN. A FEW DAYS AGO IT BECAME BAD ENOUGH TO TAKE IN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. PRIOR TO TAKING IT IN, I NOTED THAT HONDA HAS 2 TECH SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS ISSUE, ONE TO THE REPLACE THE PUMP (DEC 2010) AND ONE TO REPLACE THE STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR (2009). THE BULLETIN FOR THE PUMP SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THE PUMP DESIGN WAS INSUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER FOR THE STEERING SYSTEM, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY A HIGHER POWER PUMP WITH A NEW PART NUMBER. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO TRY TO GET THIS COVERED BY HONDA AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT (BAD STEERING), THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR $250 OUT OF A $750 TOTAL REPAIR BILL. MY CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS OUT OF WARRANTY TIME LIMIT, BUT UNDER WARRANTY MILEAGE (35000). I FEEL THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE (STEERING) AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL BEFORE A STEERING FAILURE AND SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR WORSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER HER VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 35200.
MY WIFE LEFT WORK AND DROVE HOME, APPROXIMATELY 2MILES, AND ADVISED SHE SMELLED/SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISE THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. LOCAL FIRE INSPECTOR INVESTIGATED AND ADVISE THE SOURCE OF IGNITION WAS IN THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN THE AREA OF THE REAR A/C UNIT AND PBC. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY RESPONDED THAT "IF YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY DOES NOT SUBROGATE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO." THE RECENT SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE WAS AN OIL CHANGE AND NEW TIRES APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH PRIOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CONTACT HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE CONTACTS BRAKING ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AS THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL FULLY INTO THE FLOOR PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER A FIVE YEAR SPAN AND HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDER ON MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. MILES IS ABOUT 86000, TOOK VAN TO HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD SERVICE MANAGER SAID THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN KNOWN FOR SHUDDER PROBLEMS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLES WEIGHT WAS NOT MATCHED TO THE TRANSMISSION PROPERLY IN DESIGN. SHUDDER HAPPENS AT ABOUT 30-40 MPH WITH A LIGHT ENGINE LOAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED FURTHER INTO THE FLOORBOARD THAN USUAL BEFORE ENGAGING. THE DEALER ADVISED BLEEDING THE BRAKES BEFORE PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC AND IF NEEDED, WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE MODULE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,777.  
ALL MOTOR MOUNTS ON VEHICLE ARE DAMAGED AFTER JUST 45,000 MILES. COST OF REPLACEMENT IS EXCESSIVE ($1600). VIBRATION ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE IS EXCESSIVE AND CAUSES TEMPORARY STEERING LOSS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR DID NOT LATCH COMPLETELY CAUSING THE DOOR TO PARTIALLY SLIDE OPEN WHILE DRIVING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE REAR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
THE SLIDING DOOR OF MY ODYSSEY (TOURING) MODEL WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. SIMILAR TO ANOTHER COMPLAINT, THE DOOR GETS CLOSE TO BEING CLOSED, BUT WILL NOT CLOSE EITHER ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. THE VAN IS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN WITH THE SLIDING DOOR OPEN. THIS FIRST HAPPEN AT ONLY 29K MILES AND CONTINUED TO HAPPEN PERIODICALLY UNTIL I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP WHO COULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP (THAT WAS ABLE TO FIX IT) SHOWED ME THAT IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW OF THE "CENTER ROLLER" FOR THE SLIDING DOOR. THIS IS A PART LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE DOOR ATTACHING IT TO THE VAN'S BODY. THERE ARE TWO PLASTIC ROUND PARTS THAT ACT LIKE BALL BEARING ROLLERS, AND THEY BECOME OUT OF PLACE CAUSING THE DOOR'S ALIGNMENT TO BE OFF. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DOOR NOT TO CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSON SAID IF HONDA SPENT $8 MORE ON MAKING THESE ROUND PARTS METAL INSTEAD OF PLASTIC, THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. POWER STEERING PUMP FAILING. NOTHING LEADS UP TO THIS, JUST THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. THE ISSUE IS MAINLY AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN TRYING TO PARK - THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPS WORKING. WE NEEDED TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED AND NEW FLUID ADDED. WHEN TAKEN TO MECHANIC, TOLD MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE SAME ISSUE AS WELL AS WELL DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. *TR
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED UP, THERE IS A SUDDEN PERIOD OF UNWARRANTED ACCELERATION (LESS THAN A SECOND). IT FEELS LIKE THE ACCELERATOR INPUT IS MISREAD AND RE-CALIBRATED AND THEN THE PROBLEM DOES NOT COME BACK. I HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM MORE OFTEN IN COOLER WEATHER THAN OTHERWISE. *TR

2006 HONDA ODYSSEY ROTOR BRAKES PROBLEMS! IN THE PAST 4 YEARS I HAVE REPLACED MY ROTOR BRAKES AND PADS 2 TIMES! HONDA DID A COURTESY REPLACEMENT IN 2007 AFTER COMPLAINING TO THEM THAT THE BRAKES ARE MAKING SCREECHING SOUNDS AND WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THAT JUST AFTER LESS THAN ONE YEAR THE ROTOR BRAKE IS WARPED. LAST OCT 2009, DURING SERVICE CHECK THEY SAID THE ROTOR BRAKE IS CRACKED/WARPED AGAIN AND WE NEED TO REPLACE IT AND THEY CANNOT COVER I HAD TO PAY. I USED THE VAN FOR WORK ( 8 MILES ONE -WAY). I COMPLAINED TO HONDA DCH OXNARD AND TOLD THEM THAT THE ROTOR BRAKE AND PADS WAS JUST REPLACED IN MID 2007 AND HOW A VAN THAT IS JUST USED FOR WORK COULD HAVE ITS ROTOR BRAKES FAIL IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. THEY GAVE A LAME EXCUSE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
MANUAL SLIDING DOORS BROKE. BOTH MANUAL SLIDING DOORS BROKE WITHIN ONE MONTH OF EACH OTHER. CABLES APPARENTLY SNAPPED WHICH PREVENTED THE DOORS FROM BEING OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. HAD TO HAVE CABLES ON BOTH DOORS REPLACED. AN EXPENSIVE SAFETY DEFECT. *TR
CONSISTENT LOSS OF STEERING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ONLY WHEN ACCELERATING WILL STEERING WORK, ALMOST AS IF AT IDLE OR IN PARKING LOTS, NOT ENOUGH POWER TO STEERING UNIT TRANSPIRES. IT GENERALLY REQUIRES SEVERAL ADDITIONAL MOVES IN A PARKING LOT TO GET OUT OF A SPACE, BUT SOMEWHAT DANGEROUS IN THAT YOU HAVE TO ALLOW FOR CAR TO ROLL, IN ORDER FOR STEERING TO WORK. THE MOST DANGEROUS SITUATION IS WHEN YOU'RE COMING TO A STOP AND WHEN YOU REACH 10MPH OR SO, ON THE WAY TO A STOP, YOU DON'T HAVE STEERING FOR THOSE FEW SECONDS. IT'S DANGEROUS IN A PARKING LOT IF YOU HAVE TO TURN SUDDENLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY SINCE WE'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE, EVERYONE I KNOW HERE AT THE OFFICE, FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO OWN ONE, HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM. A RELATED ISSUE IS, WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY, THE POWER STEERING UNIT EMITS A HISSING SOUND, ALMOST AS IF THE BELTS ARE ABOUT TO SNAP, SIMILAR TO THE NOISE AMERICAN POWER STEERING UNIS MADE IN THE 80'S AND 90'S. I BELIEVE THE UNIT IS NOT ENGINEERED PROPERLY FOR THE VEHICLE. BOTH OF THESE HAVE BEEN PERSISTENT PROBLEMS, SHAME ON ME FOR NOT REPORTING IT SOONER, PERHAPS IT'S THE AURA OF HONDA THAT MAKES ONE BELIEVE THEY'RE PERFECT VEHICLES. THEY ARE FAR FROM IT. *TR
I OWN A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN, WITH ALMOST 70,000 MILES ON IT. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN LAST WEEK FOR SERVICE REGARDING A "MOANING" NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, RIGHT OR LEFT. THE TECHNICIAN LATER INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND ITS COMPONENTS ARE NO LONGER WORKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED... $700 DOLLARS LATER. AFTER GETTING THE PARTS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS PUMP GOING BAD, I CHECKED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS BEEN REPORTED PREVIOUSLY. I CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA, WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE GIVEN LIFE SPAN OF THIS PART IS APPROX 120-140 MILES, AND THAT WOULD PRORATE ME BACK 50% THE COST OF MY SERVICE CHARGE. THIS WAS VERY NICE AND I AM AWAITING THE CHECK IN THE MAIL. MY ISSUE IS THAT IF THERE IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS PART, AND IT "GOES" OUT AT VARIOUS MILEAGE ON THESE VEHICLES, IT WOULD BE HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE TO HAVE THE PART RECALLED AND REPLACED ALL TOGETHER. AM SURE MOST PEOPLE DON'T BRING THEIR CARS IN AT THE FIRST INSTANCE THEY HEAR A NOISE, ETC. SINCE I HAVE CHILDREN AND CAR POOL OTHERS, I NEVER TAKE ANY CHANCES WITH MY CAR. NONE OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. VAN WAS HIT HARD IN FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. THE SIDE AIRBAGS BARELY CRACKED THE CASINGS AND DIDN'T DEPLOY OUT AS DESIGNED. THIS HAPPENED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. A CHILD WAS SITTING BEHIND THE DRIVER. *TR
MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A SOFT SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL, OFTEN GOING LOWER THAN THE ACCELERATOR WHILE BRAKING, ALLOWING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR TO BE DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BRAKE WHILE THE ENGINE IS RACING. 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY - POWER STEERING PUMP. THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHINES, BUZZES, OR HUMS AND INTERMITTENTLY BECOMES VERY HARD TO STEER. MECHANIC SAID POWER STEERING PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS SEEN THIS MANY TIMES ON 2005-07 ODYSSEYS. LOCAL HONDA DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT THAT HONDA HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND HAD TO STOP SUDDENLY AND IT TOOK MY VAN ABOUT 6-8 FEET TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAD TO APPLY PRESSURE WITH BOTH FEET. I HAD TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO AVOID REAR-ENDING A TRUCK. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VAN WHILE GOING DOWN HILL. THE FIRST TIME, IN 2008, RESULTED IN A REAR-END COLLISION. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES. THE SECOND TIME, I HAD TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AGAIN THE SAME WAY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IT SEEMS THE BRAKES DON'T CATCH WHEN GOING DOWN A HILL AND NEED TO COME TO A QUICK STOP.

TRIED TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP GOING 25 MILES EARLY ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP ON TIME AND BRAKE WILL TERMINATE IT DISTANCE BEFORE THE ACTUAL CAR STOPPED. IT HAS SOFT BRAKES FROM THE BEGINNING BUT NOW IT IS GETTING WORSE AND THE BRAKE DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. WE WERE LUCKY BECAUSE NO OTHER CAR WERE AROUND AS WE STOPPED 10 FEET IN THE INTERSECTION. DURING NORMAL DRIVING THE BRAKES FAILED THEN BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN USING THE SERVICE BRAKE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW AS EXPECTED DESPITE INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THERE WAS NO COLLISION OR ACCIDENT. PRIOR THE INCIDENT THE BRAKES WORKED NORMALLY. AFTER THE INCIDENT THE BRAKES WORKED NORMALLY. IT HAPPENED ONCE ON 1/13/10 AND ONCE IN NOVEMBER 2009. IT HAPPENED DURING TYPICAL RURAL DRIVING, ~35MPH 2-LANE ROADS. THE HONDA DEALER INSPECTED THE BRAKES, ROAD TESTED THE CAR AND PRONOUNCED EVERYTHING WAS OK ON 1/14/10. THEY MADE NO REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME AS NHTSA INVESTIGATION PE09024 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHO IS THE NORMAL DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I OWNED A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 5 YEAR / 60000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ON JAN 4, 2010, A/C STOP WORKING AND I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER EXPECTING FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. HOWEVER, THE DEALER TOLD ME THE DAMAGE WAS DUE TO ROAD HAZARD AND WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER STATED THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL YEAR BUT THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. THEY CAN NOT REPAIR ANY DAMAGES DUE TO ROAD HAZARD. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY HONDA OWNER HAD EXACT PROBLEM AS I DID. IF IT A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, WHY HONDA IS NOT COMING UP WITH A FIX TO MINIMIZE THE CHANCE. DEALER IS ENJOYING THIS "DESIGN" FLAW BY CHARGING INNOCENT CUSTOMER WITH MORE THAN $1300 REPAIR. THE STEERING PUMP WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED AT APPROXIMATELY 9200 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOW HAVING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FLUSHED, RESERVOIR REPLACED AND NEW SYNTHETIC FLUID INSTALLED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING MAY HAVE FAILED DURING OPERATION CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
