TO TOP IT OFF WHEN IT RAINS MY DRIVER AND NOW FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR MATS ARE GETTING WET FROM THE UNDERNEATH THE PROTECTIVE MAT (MILES 105,000)! YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS ABOVE MATTER IS MOST APPRECIATED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND MAKING NOISE. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD PARTIALLY REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE WINDOW REGULATORS AND POWER DOOR LOCKS ON THE HONDA'S I OWN KEEP FAILING AND COST MORE THAN 300 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM ON THE HONDA'S. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON ALL 4 DOORS OF MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD AND 2 DOORS ON MY 2004 HONDA PILOT. HONDA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. PEOPLE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A SYSTEMIC ISSUE IN THE CAR, WHICH CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS YOU CAN'T PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN OR UP ONCE THIS HAPPENS. *TR
WATER LEAKING INTO FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR.*TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT V6. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE INTERIOR FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER CHROME DOOR HANDLE EXHIBITED A CRACKING AND SEPARATION. THERE WAS ALSO A SHARP EDGE ON THE CHROME PLATE SURFACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES WITH REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HANDLE. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURY TO THEIR FINGER FROM THE DEFECTIVE DOOR HANDLE. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE SECOND SERVICE REPAIR COST WAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $40. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ALL FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. NONE OF THE VEHICLE DOORS LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN USING A REMOTE OR USING THE POWER LOCK BUTTONS ON EACH DOOR. THE PROBLEM IS NOW PERMANENT ON ALL FOUR DOORS. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED ON THE FRONT TWO DOORS AND EVENTUALLY TO THE REAR TWO DOORS. ALL FOUR DOOR ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. I AM CONCERNED A DOOR WILL BE LEFT UNLOCKED AND MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS WILL BE STOLEN. IN ADDITION, THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK ALL FOUR DOORS WHILE I AM DRIVING, SUCH AS IF I FEEL UNSAFE IN A LOCATION I AM DRIVING AND WANT TO IMMEDIATELY LOCK ALL THE DOORS WHILE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT (FOR EXAMPLE, SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND SOMEONE APPROACHES MY CAR). *TR
IN MAY 2007, U-HAUL OF KINGSTON, NY INSTALLED A TRAILER HITCH ON MY 2004 HONDA PILOT. ON APRIL 4,2008, MY TURNING SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING AND I SMELLED A BURNING ELECTRICAL SMELL. I SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR APRIL 8, 2008. I STOPPED USING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR ALARM BEGAN TO GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY, WITHOUT PROVOCATION. WHEN WE TRIED TO START THE CAR TO BRING IT TO THE SERVICE APPT., IT WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE TECH'S LOCALIZED THE SMELL TO THE REAR OF THE CAR AND BEGAN INVESTIGATING THE TRAILER HITCH INSTALLATION. THE "HIGH ENERGY 3 TO 2 TAILLIGHT CONVERTER" HAD OVERLOADED AND THE CASING AROUND THE UNIT HAD MELTED THROUGH. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 HONDA PILOT EX THE DRIVER'S SEAT RIGHT SIDE GETS EXTREMELY HOT WHEN THE SEAT HEATER IS TURNED ON. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY INJURY OR ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE BUT I HAVE SEEN WHERE IT HAS ONLINE DURING MY RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM. SEAT WARMER BURNED A HOLE IN DRIVERS SEAT WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT IS A VERY COLD DAY HERE AND I HAVE LOTS OF LAYERS ON SO I DID NOT FEEL THE BURN FOR A WHILE. WHEN I FELT IT BURN ME AND SMELLED THE LEATHER BURNING I SHUT OFF THE SEAT WARMERS. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT WILL COST $800 TO BE REPLACED. YIKES - WHAT IF THE SEAT WARMER ACCIDENTALLY GETS TURNED ON WHEN I AM OUTSIDE MY VEHICLE - WHEN IT IS BELOW ZERO OUTSIDE I WARM UP MY CAR FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES -WILL MY CAR CATCH ON FIRE? *TR
VTM-4 LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. WAS TOLD THAT GAS CAP BEING LOOSE MAY CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN BUT I HAVE BEEN ENSURING THAT IT IS PROPERLY SEATED EVERY TIME I REFIL THE VEHICLE.*CN
2004 HONDA PILOT - INSIDE COMPARTMENT WATER LEAK. FOR 2 YEARS WE HAVE HAD WATER COMING IN THE FRONT FOOT WELLS. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT BY DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND PRIVATE REPAIR SHOPS. THE DEALERSHIPS SAID IT WAS THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH WE HAVE REPLACE TWICE, AND THE PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP SEALED ALL AREAS THAT COME INTO THE CAR. I'VE CALL HONDA CORPORATION TWICE AND HAVE COMPLAINED. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH CALLS ON THIS PROBLEM TO MAKE IT A RECALL. THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE ON LINE (HONDA.ORG) THAT HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT THE WATER IS COMING IN UNTIL THE CARPETS ARE SOAKED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR WENT IN TO FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT WENT ON, AND STAYED ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS RESTARTED. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE KNOCK SENSOR HARNESS WIRING DUE TO RODENT DAMAGE. *TR
ON SUNDAY NIGHT MY 9 YEAR OLD CHILD WAS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT OF MY HONDA PILOT. WHEN SHE TRIED TO PUT HER SEAT BELT ON IT GOT CAUGHT AROUND HER NECK. SHE THEN TURNED TO TRY AND FIX IT AND IT GOT WRAPPED AGAIN. IT LOCKED AROUND HER NECK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. EVEN AS I TRIED TO LIFT HER TO GET ROOM AROUND HER NECK THE BELT KEPT TAKING IN THE SLACK. SHE HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE SEAT BELT BY A ONLOOKER WHO HAD A KNIFE. BY THAT POINT SHE HAD QUIT BREATHING. SHE HAD TO BE HOSPITALIZED AND HAVE NUMEROUS TESTS RUN ON HER TO ACCESS HER CONDITION. SHE HAS MASSIVE SWELLING TO HER FACE AND HER RIGHT EYE WAS SWOLLEN COMPLETELY SHUT. SHE HAS BROKEN BLOOD VESSEL FROM HER NECK UP ALL OVER HER FACE AND EVEN IN THE BACK OF HER THROAT. SHE HAS SO MANY BROKEN BLOOD VESSEL IN HER EYES THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN SEE THE WHITES OF HER EYES. AT THE TIME ALL OF THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK WAS AT A STAND STILL IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE THROUGH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT EX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD NOISE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
EVERY TIME IT RAINS EVEN IF CAR IS NOT MOVED, IT LEAKS TO FLOORBOARDS OF DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE. HONDA PILOT IS FREE FROM ANY WRECKS OR DAMAGE. *TR
I NOW HAVE BEEN THE VICTIM FOR THE 2ND TIME OF WHAT IS UNQUESTIONABLY A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION / TORQUE CONVERTER OF THE SHARED POWER TRAIN FOR HONDA PILOTS ('03 ,'04) HONDA ODYSSEY VANS ('02 TO '04) & ACURA MDX ('01, '02). I OWNED A PRISTINE 2001 ACURA MDX WITH JUST OVER 100K MILES ON IT WHICH EXPERIENCED THE ALL TOO COMMON TRANS./ TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE ONLY A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM A HONDA DEALER. THIS HAPPENED IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT THE POWER TRAIN RECALL (SANCTIONED BY NHTSA) HAD BEEN COMPLETED IN 2004. I PARTED WAYS WITH THE VEHICLE, INCURRING A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS. BUT THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES, AS UNFORTUNATELY, MY OTHER VEHICLE IS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2004, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER SINCE THE MODEL WAS SUBJECT TO A NEARLY IDENTICAL POWER TRAIN RECALL AS THE MDX AND ODYSSEY. MY DEALER SAID MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, & THAT MY NEW PILOT SHOULD BE FINE. YET @ 60K, THE "D" LIGHT ON THE SHIFTER DISPLAY STARTED TO BLINK FROM TIME TO TIME. EACH TIME THE DEALER SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE; SHUTTERING ON DOWNSHIFTING OVER THE YEARS WAS PASSED OFF BY THE DEALER AS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE. THEN LAST WEEK, THE POWER TRAIN FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE AS WELL. THIS TIME MY SON WAS DRIVING, & THE CAR SHUTTERED SO BADLY THAT IT NEARLY WENT OUT OF CONTROL. THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED & I HAVE ALL SERVICE RECORDS. CLEARLY THE RECALL "REMEDY" FOR THIS MAJOR DESIGN FLAW HAS NOT SOLVED THE ISSUE, AND THESE POWER TRAINS STILL PRESENT A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE OPERATOR & OTHERS ON THE ROAD WHO MAY NEED TO AVOID A DISABLED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING! IF YOU TOTAL ALL THE POWER TRAIN COMPLAINTS FOR THE RECALL YRS. ON THESE 3 MODELS, YOU GET NEARLY 3000. THE LEGITIMACY OF NHTSA IS AT STAKE. THIS "SOLUTION" WAS A GOOD DEAL FOR HONDA, BUT IT HAS NOT PROTECTED THE PUBLIC! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE RETRACTABLE REAR SEAT DISLODGED AND SLASHED THE FACE OF THE REAR PASSENGER. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AS OF OCTOBER 3, 2007, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,000.
I BUCKLED MY 3 MONTH OLD SON INTO HIS BRITAX MARATHON CAR SEAT. I MADE A WIDE LEFT TURN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HE STARTED TO SCREAM. I PULLED OVER AND PARKED MY CAR AND GOT OUT TO CHECK ON HIM. HE HAD SLID OUT FROM UNDER THE STRAP AND WAS LAYING PERPENDICULAR TO HIS SEAT. HE WAS UNINJURED, BUT WHEN I CALLED BRITAX TO TELL THEM, THEY WERE UNCONCERNED AND BLAMED ME. I KNOW HOW TO PUT HIM IN HIS CAR SEAT. I KNOW I TIGHTENED THE STRAPS, THEY SOMEHOW LOOSENED AND HE WAS ABLE TO SLIDE UNDER THEM. *JB
BROKEN FRONT ENGINE MOUNT DETECTED ON MY 2004 HONDA PILOT WITH 45000 MILES. NOTICED A VIBRATION WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A COMPLETE STOP. FIRST NOTICED PROBLEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO BUT DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. HAD VEHICLE SERVICED RECENTLY AND WAS INFORMED OF PROBLEM. HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PILOTS. ALSO HAD FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS REPLACED AT 40000 AT DEALERS ADVICE. VEHICLE IS USED STRICTLY ON PAVED ROADS AND THOUGHT IT WAS ODD THAT THEY WOULD GO OUT SO EARLY. *TR
ON EVENING OF 3-25-07, AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. 3-27-07, WENT TO DEALER -COMPUTER OUT. PART ORDERED-TO BE IN 3/29. COME PICK UP CAR. DID SO - DROVE IN FEAR. 3/29- PART NOT IN UNTIL 4/3. TOLD NO RENTAL CAR AS CAR IS DRIVABLE (UNDER WARRANTY). CALLED NATIONAL/ZONE - AGREED WITH THIS. TOLD CAR IS DRIVABLE. WOULD NOT TELL ME CAR IS SAFE BUT THAT IS HONDA'S POLICY. THAT IF THE CAR IS DRIVABLE - THEY DO NOT GIVE A RENTAL. SO- TO ME - HONDA IS SAYING MY LIFE AND THAT OF MY FAMILY IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND IT'S UP TO ME TO GET A RENTAL. THE CAR IS DRIVABLE BUT NOT SAFE AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS. I AM THE MEDICAL PROVIDER FOR A LARGE BRAIN INJURY REHAB FACILITY. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE MORE CLIENTS DUE TO HONDA'S POLICY!!! IF THE CAR IS UNSAFE OR DANGEROUS - IT IS NOT DRIVABLE!!!! A RENTAL CAR SHOULD BE SUPPLIED. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HONDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR POLICY AND FEEL THAT IT GOES AGAINST NHTSA BELIEFS. DEFECTIVE MOTOR MOUNT 2004 HONDA PILOT - SEVERE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY, 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON HONDA, PILOT 2004, AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER, THE CAR JERKED AND STARTED TO KNOCK. I HAD TO SPEED UP AGAIN TO 60 MPH AND THE SOUND WENT AWAY. I PUSHED THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD AND NO HELP. I FINALLY SLOWLY SLOWED DOWN THE CAR. THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE (VT-4) LIGHT WENT OFF, BUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LIGHT IS STILL ON. *NM
THE NOISE IN OUR CAR HAS PROGRESSIVE GOTTEN WORSE AND THEN WE STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH OUR LOCKS AND LIGHTS IN OUR CAR. WE FINALLY FOUND OUT THAT THE DOOR SENSOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS NO LONGER BEING "TURN-OFF" AS IT SHOULD BE. THIS IS APPARENTLY BECAUSE THE DOOR IS SLOWING SEPARATING FROM THE CAR. NOT NOTICEABLE FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE WORSE SYMPTOM IS WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS THE DOORS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. THIS SEEMED PRETTY SCARY THINKING THE DOORS MIGHT OPEN. *TR
THERE IS A AUDIBLE VIBRATION IN MY '04 HONDA PILOT WHEN I DRIVE AT ABOUT 1400 RPM. IT SOUNDS LIKE A STRONG WIND NOISE, LIKE SOME SORT OF COVER VIBRATING. IT IS INTERMITTENT. ONCE THE RPM GOES BEYOND 1600RPM, THESE VIBRATIONS RARELY HAPPEN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE EXHAUST LINE, INCLUDING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VIBRATIONS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THE VIBRATION SEEMS TO COME FROM THE UNDERBELLY OF THE CAR, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. *JB
SMOKE FROM THE DASH WAS NOTED. IT CAME FROM THE JUNCTION OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE UPPER PART OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THE SMELL OF BURNT PLASTIC REMAINED IN THE CAR FOR ~4 HOURS. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A HONDA DEALER (FAIRFEILD HONDA - WILLIAMSPORT, PA). IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR 4 1/2 WEEKS AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE? *JB
AS A CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR I WANT TO INFORM YOU ABOUT THE SAFETY BELT SYSTEMS IN THE HONDA PILOT, ACURA MDX, TOYOTA SIENNA AND ANY OTHER VEHICLE WITH THE CENTER SEATING POSITION LAP/SHOULDER BELT EXTENDING FROM THE INTERIOR ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH LAP/SHOULDER BELTS PROVIDE UPPER BODY PROTECTION, THESE BELTS DO NOT FIT CHILDREN AND SOME ADULTS PROPERLY. EVEN CHILDREN USING BACKLESS BOOSTERS DO NOT FIT PROPERLY IN THE BELT SYSTEM. I DO NOT HAVE EVIDENCE OF ANY INJURIES OR DEATHS AT THIS TIME. IT IS MY OBSERVATION, BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY, THE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO REDESIGN THIS SEAT BELT SYSTEM. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AT 5 MPH, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND THE ENGINE REVVED. THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A CURB AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND TWO OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS YET TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER OR A MECHANIC. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 22,000. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE AIR CONTROL VALVE AND THROTTLE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM 1 YEAR PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. UPDATED 09/18/07. *JB

CONSUMER WOULD LIKE REIMBURSEMENT FOR TWO TIRES REPLACED ON A 2004 HONDA PILOT. *KB THE CONSUMER MECHANIC NOTICED UNEVEN TREAD WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT SHE DEFINITELY NEEDED NEW TIRES BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO OTHER THAN SELL HER NEW TIRES. THE TIRE WERE ONLY TWO YEARS OLD. THE CONSUMER PURCHASE NEW TIRES ELSEWHERE FOR A BETTER PRICE. THE CONSUMER MECHANIC STATED THAT LOW TIRE PRESSURE COULD CAUSE WEAR. THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE OTHER TWO TIRES PRESSURE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRES WERE UNDERINFLATED AT 32 PSI. THE PRESSURE IN THE DOORJAMB OF THE VEHICLE ALSO INDICATED 32 PSI. THE MECHANIC LOOKED ON THE TIRE AND SAW THAT THE MAX PSI WAS 44 AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT SHE SHOULD MAINTAIN 40 PSI, NO LESS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN DRIVE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN THE VEHICLE RESPONDED IT SURGED FORWARD. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONTINUED TO STICK. AT 1034 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE PEDAL WAS STICKING AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS MAKING AN UPGRADE FOR THE COMPONENT. WHEN THE UPGRADE WAS AVAILABLE, IT WAS INSTALLED. TWO MONTHS LATER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STARTED STICKING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE GASKET AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AT 3395 MILES. THE VEHICLE WORKED PROPERLY IN WARMER CONDITIONS. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEGAN STICKING WHILE DRIVING 9 MONTHS AFTER THE PREVIOUS REPAIR. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED AGAIN, THE MECHANIC STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN HOME. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON A BRIDGE AND THE CONTACT HAD TO DRIVE IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO AVOID HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF THE BRIDGE, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. THE MECHANIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE FROM THAT LOCATION AND DETERMINED IT TOOK 2 FEET TO STOP THE VEHICLE. A NEW THROTTLE BODY WAS INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED IT WAS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM AND THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED EVERY 15,000 MILES. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN 16,000 MILES. IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE THE VEHICLE, A NEW CABLE WAS INSTALLED TO THE THROTTLE BODY 2 DAYS AGO, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO CURRENT PROBLEMS.
IN APPROXIMATELY EARLY 2006, I NOTICED THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD SHIMMY WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TYPICALLY IT WOULD OCCUR AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN STEEPER GRADES IN THE MOUNTAINS. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE HONDA DEALER IN APRIL 2006 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 35,418 MILES. THE HONDA DEALER DISMISSED IT AND SAID IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE FRONT WHEEL STILL WANTING TO PROVIDE POWER WHILE THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. CONSEQUENTLY, THE BRAKE SYSTEM CHECKED OUT FINE DURING THEIR INSPECTION. UNFORTUNATELY, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS AND IS GETTING WORSE. I'VE ALSO NOW NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN I DRIVE ON FLATTER SURFACES AS WELL. THE PROBLEM IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN STOPPING AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH AND IS EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN DRIVING DOWN HILLS. MY CONCERN AT THIS POINT IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BECOME UNSTABLE BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE SHIMMY THAT OCCURS IN THE FRONT WHEELS WHILE BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS OR ON AN INCLINE. *TR
WHILE GOING AT ABOUT 20 MPH IN LIGHT RAIN, CAR IN FRONT OF ME BROKE SUDDENLY CAUSING ME TO HIT THE BRAKES. UPON STEPPING ON THE BRAKES, I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND. THE CAR KEPT ON ROLLING AND DID NOT STOP. I TRIED MOVING LEFT ONTO A TURNING LANE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT. THE CAR SKIDDED OFF THE MEDIAN, AND CAR JUMPED THE MEDIAN WITHOUT LOSING VELOCITY. THE CAR WOUND UP ON INCOMING TRAFFIC, AT WHICH POINT A CAR COLLIDED WITH ME RESULTING IN INJURIES TO THE THAT DRIVER AND MYSELF. PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO COMPLAINT ON FILE ODI ID NUMBER : 10117818. PROBLEM WILL BE REPORTED TO HONDA AS A POSSIBLE DEFECT. *NM

THE CONTACT LATER FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED DOWN THE HILL AND HIT AN OBJECT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A BAD IGNITION SWITCH. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2004 HONDA PILOT. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 65 MPH AND HAD WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A BLOWOUT. HUGE BANG AND THUD. WE WENT TO PUT THE SPARE ON AND SAW THAT THE RIM HAD SPLIT IN TWO RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER GROOVE, WITH TWO FIST SIZE HOLES ON EACH SIDE. THE DEALER SAID I MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING BIG, BUT I WAS IN THE CAR AND KNOW THAT WE DIDN'T. DEALER SAID THAT HE WOULD COVER IT JUST THIS ONCE AND PUT A NEW RIM AND TWO NEW TIRES ON THE CAR. DEALER SAID THAT HE WAS SENDING THE RIM BACK TO HONDA. DEALER SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT IN THE 25 YEARS OF WORKING WITH CARS. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A RIM SPLITTING IN TWO AND I KNOW THAT IF I WAS DRIVING THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. *NM
THIS VEHICLE FROM ORIGINAL PURCHASE HAS HAD A WHEEL VIBRATION THAT SEEMS TO BE INCORRECTABLE BY DEALER. I BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURE HONDA. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO NEEDED BRAKE ROTORS RESURFACED AT LESS THAN 20,000 MILES AND IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR PARTS TO HAVE TWO TIE RODS REPLACED.
THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO WORK WHEN THE CAR IMPACTED A VEHICLE HEAD-ON. THE AIR BAG FAILED A 2ND TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED IN THE REAR BUMPER. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE IN THE REAR WAS GOING APROXIMATELY 50MPH. THE CHILDREN IN THE REA SEATING HAD VERY SOAR NECKS FOR A WEEK. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THE VEHICLE WAS A SAFE VEHICLE. I HAD FOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TALKED TO THE HONDA MECHANIC, HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT BECAUSE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO CARS THE AIR BAG COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS CONFUSED ON WHERE TO SEND THE AIR... I THINK THAT IS WRONG! THERE SHOULD BE A SIGNAL THAT WHEN CONFUSED ON WHERE TO GO, SET ALL OF THE AIRBAGS OFF. BY NOT SENDING ANY OFF, IT INDANGERED MY FAMILY... AFTER NOTICING THE SEATBELT/AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, I ARRANGED TO HAVE IT CHECKED BY THE DEALER, KEN DIXON HONDA OF WALDORF, MD. I ALSO REQUESTED AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I DROPED THE CAR OFF, THE GENTLEMAN ASKED IF I WAS THERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I SAID YES BUT I WAS REALLY THERE TO HAVE THE SEATBELT/AIRBAG SYSTEM CHECKED AND THE LIGHT RESET. HE ASKED IF I WANTED MY CAR WASHED; IT WAS FREE. HALF WAY HOME, (I LIVE ONE HOUR AWAY) I REALIZED THE WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THE NEXT DAY, FRIDAY, WE DROVE TO GEORGIA. ON OUR WAY HOME, WE ROLLED THREE TIMES IN OUR HONDA PILOT. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS OPENED. ALTHOUGH WE WALKED AWAY, WE SUFFERED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES, NONE OF WHICH WERE LIFE THREATENING.
