OUR PILOT DRIVE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ONE DAY, WE PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS. NOW OUR ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE FOUND OUT THAT WE NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION! WE HAVE LESS THAN 100,000 MI. ALSO, OUR GAS PEDAL STICKS, TO ACCELERATE WE TAKE OFF EXTREMELY FAST FROM A DEAD STOP. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT!!! IT STARTED OUT A LITTLE STICKY AND IS NOW VERY BAD. *TR
2004 HONDA PILOT DRIVER SIDE REAR SUBFRAME CROSSMEMBER RUSTED AND FALLING APART. STARTED TO RUST AROUND 2010 THEN WORST AT 2019. ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE IS RUSTED AND BAD. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS NO ISSUES.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY WHEN THE D (DRIVE) LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. I DROVE LESS THAN A HALF MILE DOWN THE ROAD TO PICK UP MY CHILDREN AT SCHOOL, I PUT THE CAR IN P (PARK) AND THE D LIGHT KEPT BLINKING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WENT INTO THE SCHOOL TO PICK UP MY CHILDREN, WHEN I CAME BACK OUT AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE D LIGHT WAS NO LONGER BLINKING. I SPOKE TO A MECHANIC THIS MORNING AND IT IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SO NOW I NEED TO TAKE THE DAY OFF OF WORK AND GO GET IT LOOKED AT. I'M SURE IT WILL ALSO BE A PRICEY FIX IF THE TRANSMISSION IS INVOLVED. I AM DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY CONSIDERING I HAVE JUST OVER 80K MILES ON MY PILOT, AND HONDA VEHICLES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELIABLE. WAS THERE A PROBLEM WITH 2004 HONDA PILOT VEHICLES, SPECIFICALLY WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS? *TR
FUEL FILLER NECK ON MY 2004 PILOT HAD A FUEL LEAK. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED A LEAK IN THE NECK OF THE GAS TANK FILLER TUBE WAS DETECTED AND REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 95,000 MILES. *TR
SEAT HEATER IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF MY 2004 HONDA PILOT GETS VERY HOT AND I CAN SMELL SOMETHING BURNING WHEN TURNED ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A BURNING ODOR WAS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
2004 HONDA PILOT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HEATER GETS EXTREMELY HOT AND WILL BURN SKIN. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *KB
TOOK 2004 HONDA PILOT IN FOR SCHEDULED 75,000 MAINTENANCE. TWO MOTOR MOUNT FAILURES. REPLACED FAILED PARTS. CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY REFERENCES TO IDENTICAL PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 TO 40 MPH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM INFORMATION CODE P0740 ON 10/24/2009 AT 110,326 MILES AND AGAIN ON 09/15/2011 AT 162,313 MILES. DEALER REPLACED 4TH GEAR PRESSURE SWITCH AT ~$265 EACH OCCURRENCE. TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WAS ALSO A PROPOSED OPTION. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WHICH IS DEMONSTRATED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION AND THERE IS NO HONDA RECALL OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT ADDRESSES THIS. BUYERS RARELY RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM HONDA. THE RECALL NO. P30 DOES NOT COVER ALL THE VEHICLES THAT EXHIBIT THIS PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION FAILURE DURING OPERATION WOULD LIKELY CAUSE INJURY TO BOTH PERSON AND PROPERTY. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND NOT CHANGING GEARS CORRECTLY; SHE NOTICED THAT IT WOULD ACCELERATE THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE. THERE WAS A NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING WHICH PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 124,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
THE PAINT STARTED PEELING ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO (OCT, '09) ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2004 MIDNIGHT BLUE PEARL HONDA PILOT, AT FIRST IN SUCH A SMALL AREA I CONSIDERED ITS CAUSE TO BE THE OCCASIONAL 'FLYING ROCK DING'. THEN IT STATED PEELING ON THE RIGHT REAR FENDER APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO, AND I BEGAN TO TAKE MORE NOTICE. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO IT STARTED PEELING OFF IN LARGE SHEETS ON MULTIPLE AREAS ON THE CAR (TWO PASSENGER DOORS, REAR FENDER, TAILGATE). I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA, AND ALTHOUGH THE LOCAL AGENT ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE MIDNIGHT BLUE PEARL PAINT MIXTURE USED ON THE 2004 ODYSSEYS (AND HENCE, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THAT COLOR PAINT ON THE ODYSSEYS), THERE WAS "NO BULLETIN" ON THE HONDA PILOTS AND THEREFORE, NOTHING WOULD BE DONE. *TR
THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT BOTTOM SEAT HEATER OVER-HEATS. DEALER WANTS $900-1000 TO FIX. THIS IS A MUCH REPORTED FAILURE ITEM FOR 2004-2005 PILOTS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 HONDA PILOT AND WAS TOLD WHEN I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AT 90K THAT THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED PART IF IT IS THAT COMMON. *TR

MY TRANSMISSION MAKES A SHUTTER/VIBRATING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AT 25-50 MPH. *TR
2004 HONDA PILOT V-6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PREMATURE FAILURE CAUSING VEHICLE TO COME OUT OF GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING, TRANSMISSION TO SLIP WHEN CLIMBING HILLS OR ATTEMPTING TO PASS AND ALSO CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO LOCK UP WHEN TRAVELING AT ROAD SPEED. THIS PROBLEM WAS ADDRESSED IN RECALL ON OCTOBER 29, 2004 BUT ONLY INCLUDED A LIMITED VIN RANGE. VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED AFTER THE VIN RANGE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION AND THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT WERE NOT RECALLED AND HONDA DEALERS AND AMERICAN HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THEY ARE HARD PRESSED TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECALL ITSELF UNLESS YOU TELL THEM YOU REALIZE THERE WAS A RECALL AND GIVE THEM THE DETAILS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 HONDA PILOT. THE SEATBELT SENSOR SWITCH CAME ON AT AROUND 63K MILES. TOOK TO HONDA, THEY SAID PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAGS SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND THEY HAVE TO TAKE SEAT APART TO REPAIR. PROPOSED COST IS AROUND $500. HAVE NOT REPAIRED YET DUE TO COST. INQUIRED WITH OTHER OWNERS IN MY TOWN THAT OWN SAME CARE, MAKE AND MODEL YEAR 2004 AND 2005. 6 OTHER WOMEN IN MY TOWN HAVE HAD EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR PILOT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE A WARRANTED PART DUE TO IT BEING A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE OF A DEFECTIVE SENSOR ON THE PILOT. COMPLAINED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP, HERB CHAMBERS HONDA, WESTBOROUGH, MA. THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD SOME REPAIRS LIKE THAT BUT NOT ALOT AND IT IS NOT A RECALL PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE IT INVESTIGATED TO SEE HOW MANY HONDA PILOTS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IF IT SHOULD BE A HONDA COST FOR SUCH A DEFECT. HONDA DOESN'T NOT EVEN TELL YOU TO NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT INSPITE OF THE SENSOR BEING ON INDICATING A DEFECT. *TR

THE DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A RECALL; HOWEVER, HER VIN WAS EXCLUDED. SHE STATED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 04V176000. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000. INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS ON MY 2004 PILOT WERE CRACKED AND THAT I WOULD START TO NOTICE THIS IN VIBRATION OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING SEEN QUITE OFTEN IN THE PILOT AND ODYSSEY. 2004 PILOT WITH 91K MILES. *TR
DEFECTIVE MOTOR MOUNTS IN HONDA PILOT. *TR
I AND MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN LOYAL HONDA OWNERS SINCE 1984. IN THOSE 25 YEARS WE HAVE PURCHASED 8 HONDA AUTOMOBILES. UNTIL RECENTLY THE SERVICE AND SUPPORT PROVIDED BY HONDA AND ITS DEALERS HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL. THAT WAS ALL UNTIL OUR MOST RECENT VEHICLE, A 2004 HONDA PILOT. IT IS A VEHICLE MY WIFE AND I LOVE BUT ONE THAT HAS HAD A HIGH LEVEL OF IRRITATING SMALL PROBLEMS. THE LATEST PROBLEM INVOLVES THE MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR THE REAR LICENSE PLATE. THE METAL HOLDING THE TWO WELDED ON MOUNTING NUTS IS SO THIN THAT AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF VIBRATING THE METAL BACKING SIMPLY BREAKS AWAY. IN SEEKING A REPAIR TO THE PROBLEM MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAD NO CLUE AS TO HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND HIS ONLY REMEDY WAS TO SEND ME TO A LOCAL RETAIL BODY SHOP FOR A $234.00 REPAIR. MY LOCAL DEALER INDICATES HE WAS NOT ABLE TO OBTAIN REPAIR SUPPORT FROM THE FACTORY BECAUSE THESE PROBLEMS ARE DUE TO 'THE USE OF HEAVY LICENSE PLATE HOLDERS'. IN RESPONSE TO THAT DEFENSE LET ME STATE THE FOLLOWING: 1.RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET QUICKLY REVEALS THAT THE HONDA PILOTS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS. DOZENS OF HONDA OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. 2.HONDA REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES HAVE ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY IN SOME CASES AND NOT IN OTHERS. 3.THE 'HEAVY LICENSE PLATE FRAME' BEING BLAMED IS AN ITEM SUPPLIED BY THE DEALER AT TIME OF PURCHASE AND DOES NOT REPRESENT AN EXTRA HEAVY BURDEN. 4.THE LICENSE PLATE HAS VIBRATED UPON CLOSING THE REAR HATCH FROM DAY ONE OF PURCHASE. IT IS THE NATURE OF THE DESIGN USING ONLY TWO MOUNTING POINTS. 5.THE FACT THAT THE LICENSE PLATE AND FRAME CAN SUDDENLY FALL FROM THE VEHICLE AND BOUNCE INTO THE FOLLOWING TRAFFIC REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH HONDA SHOULD HAVE WARNED OWNERS OF WHEN THEY FIRST DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM. *TR

SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF GAS PEDAL STICKING UPON ACCELERATION. ON MAY 14, 2009, I INFORMED HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A FUEL INDUCTION CLEANING SERVICE. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THEN ON NOVEMBER 10, 2009, I INFORMED THE HONDA DEALER THAT GAS PEDAL CONTINUED TO STICK AND IT WAS HARD T PUSH THE PEDAL ALSO. DEALERSHIP CLEANED THROTTLE BODY AND PLATE. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES AND I HAVE SEEN ON CUSTOMER HONDA WEBSITES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. MY WIFE AND I ARE BOTH IN OUR 70'S AND ARE WORRIED ABOUT AN ACCIDENT OCCURRING BECAUSE OF THE GAS PEDAL STICKING. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS INTERMITTENTLY FROM 20-35 MPH. DIAGNOSED AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR 50% OF $4000.00 BILL. *TR

SRS LIGHT CAME ON. HONDA DEALER SAID OPDS UNIT NEED REPLACING. WAS REPLACED 5/6/09. DROVE ABOUT A MONTH AND SRS LIGHT COMES BACK ON. HONDA DEALER SAID UNIT MAY BE DEFECTIVE. UNIT REPLACED. DROVE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND SRS LIGHT COMES BACK ON. HONDA DEALER STUMPED. THEY JUST KEEP RESETTING THE UNIT BUT SRS LIGHT JUST COMES BACK ON. IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME NOW. *TR
TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER CAUSING SERIOUS SHUDDER AND POSSIBLE LOCK-UP. *TR
TORQUE CONVERTER STUTTERS AT 25-30MPH. VERY DISTURBING AND CAN RESULT IN TRANSMISSION DAMAGE WHILE DRIVING. *TT
MY 2004 HONDA PILOT REQUIRES A NEW TRANSMISSION AT ~60,000 MILES WITH REPAIR FEE OF $4,000. I FOUND THIS RECALL INFORMATION. I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS RECALL INFORMATION IN THE PAST. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR. I AM READING THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD HAVE LOCKED UP. THIS IS ALARMING AND I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MANY OTHER FAMILIES (INCLUDING MY FRIENDS) WHO DRIVE THE PILOT. THE REASON WE PURCHASED THE PILOT WAS TO TRANSPORT OUR FOUR CHILDREN AND THEIR FRIENDS. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V176000 COMPONENT: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DETAILS: ON SOME MINI VANS, SPORT UTILITY AND PASSENGER VEHICLES, CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS CAN RESULT IN HEAT BUILD-UP BETWEEN THE COUNTERSHAFT AND SECONDARY SHAFT SECOND GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO GEAR TOOTH CHIPPING OR GEAR BREAKAGE. CONSEQUENCE: GEAR FAILURE COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. CORRECTIVE ACTION: ON VEHICLES WITH 15,000 MILES OR LESS, THE DEALER WILL UPDATE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SIMPLE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE TO INCREASE LUBRICATION TO THE SECOND GEAR. ON VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 15,000 MILES, THE DEALER WILL INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION TO IDENTIFY GEARS THAT HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. IF DISCOLORATION EXISTS, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE REPLACED IF DISCOLORATION IS NOT PRESENT, THE DEALER WILL PERFORM THE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 21, 2004, FOR PILOT, ODYSSEY, AND MDX OWNERS. OWNERS OF THE ACCORD VEHICLES WILL START RECEIVING LETTERS ON JUNE 28, 2004, AND ON JUNE 29, 2004, FOR OWNERS OF THE TL AND CL VEHICLES. DEALERSHIP SERVICE STAFF INFORMED ME THAT MY 04 HONDA PILOT NEEDS TWO MOTOR MOUNTS (FRONT AND RIGHT SIDE) REPLACED. I HAVE HEARD THAT MANY OTHER PILOT OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WITH JUST 75K MILES, AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE, I WOULD THINK THAT A RECALL IS IN ORDER. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE MOTOR MOUNTS ON ANY OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED: 72 OPEL MANTA; 79 CHEVY MALIBU; 80 AND 88 TOYOTA COROLLA'S; 83 OLDS CUTLASS; 94 GEO PRISM; 98 TOYOTA CAMRY. I HAVE NOT HAD THEM REPLACED AS YET, BUT THE DEALERSHIP REPLACEMENT CHARGE IS ESTIMATED AT $547.00. *TR
WAS A HEAD ON CRASH AT BOTH PARTIES GOING 60 MPH. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH MY WIFE HAD MULTIPLE BRUISING FROM HITTING THE SIDE WINDOW AND B PILLAR. INJURIES BESIDES ABOVE 2 HOLES IN COLON, DAMAGED 6" OF SMALL INTESTINE MULTIPLE CUTS AND BRUISING AND ALSO PULLED TENDONS FROM LEFT FOOT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN APRIL OF 2009, THE DRIVE GEAR KEEP BLINKING. CALLED THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID TO TURN OFF ENGINE AND IT SHOULD GO AWAY. IT DID GO AWAY, ONCE THE ENGINE IS OFF. THEN IN JULY 2009, IT BLINK AGAIN, AND IT GO AWAY ONCE THE ENGINE IS OFF. NOW THE DRIVE GEAR BLINKING LIGHT IS ON MORE FREQUENTLY THEN BEFORE. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHY THE D DRIVE IS BLINKING. *TR
RUMBLE STRIP NOISE AT 35 TO 40 MILE PER HOUR. TAKEN IT TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. TECH HAS HEARD IT. TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS WINDSHIELD MOLDING. WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE 2 HONDAS, THEY WILL BE MY LAST PURCHASE FROM HONDA. *TR
I HAVE SEVERE BRAKE SHUTTERING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. IT STARTS OUT AS A MINOR SHUDDER AND SHAKE AT FIRST, AND THEN OVER TIME GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, UNTIL IT IS QUITE VIGOROUS. A LITTLE BACKGROUND: THE CAR IS A HONDA CERTIFIED CAR- 2004 PILOT I BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO. AS A CONDITION OF THE SALE, THE DEALER (SAM SWOPE IN LOUISVILLE, KY) SAID THEY WOULD FIX A SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND A GRINDING OF THE BRAKES. THEY SAID IT WAS A MINOR PROBLEM. THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED 2 WEEKS BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK 4 DAYS LATER AND THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, AND THEN THE PROBLEM STARTED COMING BACK- SLOWLY AT FIRST AND THEN GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. 3 MONTHS LATER THEY RESURFACED THE ROTORS. THE SAME PROBLEM PROGRESSED AGAIN, AND 3 MONTHS LATER, THEY REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS AGAIN. I PUT UP WITH A SHIMMY IN THE WHEEL AS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN . FINALLY, AFTER ABOUT 8 MONTHS, MY WIFE COULDN'T TAKE THE SHIMMY ANY MORE AND MADE ME TAKE IT IN AGAIN. I WAS RELUCTANT BECAUSE EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN NOTHING HAPPENED, AND I'D ALREADY SPENT OVER $700 TO NO AVAIL. ONCE AGAIN THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED, THE FRONT PADS WERE REPLACED AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DRUM WAS TURNED. TWO MONTHS LATER I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS NEED TO BE RESURFACED AGAIN. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 4/21/09, TALKED TO TINA AND SHE SAID I WOULD LIKELY BE DENIED ANY HELP BY WALTER MENIGVAR THE EXEC. REVIEW MANAGER BECAUSE HONDA CORPORATE CONSIDERS THE BRAKES TO BE A REPAIR ITEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY IT'S DESIGN, AS I HAVE DRIVEN NUMEROUS CARS OVER 29 YEARS- MANY OF THOSE MILES IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WVA, AND HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM OF THIS SORT. I HAVE ALSO HEARD ABOUT OTHER HONDA PILOTS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO THINK IT IS UNSAFE. *TR
3 OF 4 ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS UNRESPONSIVE ONE BY ONE, ALMOST SIMULTANEOUSLY (WITHIN A MONTH OR TWO), EACH DOOR LOCK BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO THE MASTER/DRIVER'S SEAT CONTROLS. ALSO DO NOT WORK USING KEY FOB. DOORS MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED AND KEY DOES NOT WORK IN FRONT PASSENGER DOOR TO LOCK OR UNLOCK. THE ONLY DOOR LEFT WHERE THE LOCK WORKS PROPERLY IS THE DRIVER DOOR. THE "BROKEN" LOCKS SOUND LIKE THEY ARE WORKING, BUT THEY DO NOT MOVE. DEALER WANTS $200 PER DOOR TO FIX. *TR
I'VE HAD VIBRATION/NOISE ISSUES AROUND 40 MPH WHILE IN TOP GEAR, I'VE NOTED ACCELERATING FORCES A DOWNSHIFT, OR I CAN MANUALLY SHIFT TO D3. EITHER ACTION GETS RID OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
I AM FIRST OWNER OF MY PILOT (MY FIRST HONDA) AND I TOO AM SUFFERING FROM THE 35-45MPH SHUDDER FROM THE KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT'S WORSE THAN JUST SHUDDERING, IT IS GRINDING TO SHIFT DOWN AND SOUNDS LIKE A SEMI TRUCK GEARING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE IT THIS WAY FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS. HONDA CORPORATE INSISTS I PAY THE LOCAL DEALER FOR REVIEW (ANOTHER $90 BILL) BEFORE TALKING TO ME BUT INSISTS THERE IS NO RECALL BEYOND WHAT WAS DONE IN 04V176000 , BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND I DON'T HAVE $5000 TO SPEND ON REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION. PURCHASED A USED 04 PILOT FROM A CAR DEALER AND DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF OPERATION I HEARD SHUTTERING NOISES LIKE GOING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP. I RESEARCHED THIS ON LINE AND WAS HORRIFIED TO FIND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS (TORQUE CONVERTER) AND A RECALL BY ACURA FOR SAME REASON. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER TO GET MY MONEY BACK AND LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE PILOT BY TRADING IT FOR ANOTHER TRUCK ON THE LOT. I FEEL SORRY FOR THE NEXT PERSON WHO UNKNOWINGLY (NOT LIKE HONDA) PURCHASES THIS WITH THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY TO DRIVE THEIR KIDS AROUND IN AND ARE IN A POSSIBLE DEATH TRAP! THE HEATED SEAT IN MY 2004 HONDA PILOT BECAME UNCOMFORTABLY HOT WHENEVER I USED IT FOR ABOUT ONE WEEK. EVENTUALLY IT CAME TO A POINT WHERE THE SEAT BECAME SO HOT THAT I COULD NOT USE THE HEATED SEAT ANYMORE. I OWN A 2004 HONDA PILOT AND I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS ABOUT A 'SHUDDER' THAT OCCURS BETWEEN 30-50 MPH. IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING OVER A WASHBOARD IN THE ROAD AND IT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL YOU PUSH DOWN OR LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR. THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT, BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER TESTS. THEY ALSO SAID THAT IT MAYBE SOMETHING THAT HAS TO GET WORSE BEFORE THEY CAN FIGURE IT OUT. TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER /VIBRATION BETWEEN 35 AND 40 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN MY 2004 HONDA PILOT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR OVER 18 MONTH NOW TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO HEAR OR EXPERIENCE WHAT I WAS WITH MY VEHICLE. FINALLY WHEN THE VIBRATION WAS SO BAD IT COULD BE HEARD AND FELT. IT WAS FINALLY HEARD/FELT BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT LOCAL HONDA DEALER. WHEN I WAS TOLD WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT IT WOULD COST $2500 TO FIX, I GOT A SECOND OPINION, WHEN THAT OPINION WAS CONFIRMED, I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL THAT I HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF. I DID NOT FIND ANY RECALLS BUT FOUND THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE MANUFACTURER OF POWER TRAIN/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS:TORQUE CONVERTER. I WAS LIVID THAT THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINT WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW OR IF THEY CONVENIENTLY CHOSE NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE MY PROBLEMS ALMOST TWO YEARS NOW. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO WHEN I CONFRONT THE DEALERSHIP WITH MY COMPLAINT. UNTIL I EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM I LOVED MY VEHICLE, NOW EVERYTIME IT VIBRATES/SHUDDERS I AM JUST SICK ABOUT IT. *TR
