TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED, SHOOK, AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ECONOMY HONDA SUPERSTORE (6001 LEE HWY, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37421, (423) 381-6429) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BURNING. THE DEALER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 09868694. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A LOUD EXPLOSION SUDDENLY OCCURRED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR DISLODGED FROM THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. DURING THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT MADE CONTACT WITH ANYTHING TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE HONDA PILOT HAS A FEATURE CALLED AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP. TO MEET EMISSION STANDARDS, THIS FEATURE PUTS THE ENGINE INTO A STOP/OFF MODE WHEN YOU BRAKE FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS. HOWEVER, THIS FEATURE SOMETIMES CAUSES THE CAR BATTERY TO FAIL AND THE CAR TO STALL. THIS COULD HAPPEN WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR ON A HIGHWAY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. IF THE BATTERY HASN'T HAD ENOUGH TIME TO RECHARGE, THE CAR MIGHT STALL AND NEED TO BE COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN, WAIT A WHILE AND MAYBE WILL RESTART. WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IN LATE 2015. THE ISSUE PRESENTED ITSELF BY 2016/2017, MOSTLY AS BRIEF BLIPS AND THE CAR WOULD RESTART. IN SUMMER 2018, AFTER REPEATED VISITS TO HONDA AND NUMEROUS TIMES OF THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, WE CHOSE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. OUR HONDA SERVICE CENTERS KEPT TELLING US THAT THE BATTERY TESTS SHOWED IT WAS FINE AND THAT THE FEATURE ISN'T SUPPOSE TO ENGAGE IF THE BATTERY DOESN'T HAVE "ENOUGH JUICE" TO RESTART. BUT CLEARLY, THAT DOESN'T WORK, BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD INDEED COMPLETELY STALL AND NEED TO TRY TO RESTART. I ONCE HAD TO WAIT FIVE MINUTES STUCK AT A LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A 3 LANE ROAD, AND MY CAR FINALLY RESTARTED. BUT ONCE WE PAID TO REPLACE THE BATTERY (THAT SUPPOSEDLY WAS FINE), THE CAR DIDN'T BLIP OR STALL. BUT ONE YEAR LATER, IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL JUST BLIP, WHERE ALL THE LIGHTS, RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONING WILL BRIEFLY CUT OUT AND THEN COME BACK ON AS THE FEATURE RE-ENGAGES THE ENGINE. BUT SOMETIMES, IT JUST WON'T RESTART. THERE IS A BUTTON YOU CAN HIT TO DISABLE THE AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP FEATURE. BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER TO HIT EVERY TIME YOU START THE CAR. IF YOU FORGET, ALL IT TAKES IS STOPPING AT ONE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE CAR COULD STALL. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ONLINE REPORTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS FEATURE.
SEEING AN ISSUE WITH FUEL INJECTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED FOR IT.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE 2016 PILOT BACK HOME ONE AFTERNOON(8/15/2019) AND SHE SAW THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON. THE MILES ARE EXACTLY 52500(3.5 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP). I DROVE THE PILOT TO THE HONDA DEALER NEXT DAY MORNING AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE FUEL INJECTORS HAVE GONE BAD AND THE COST IS AROUND $1239.48 TO REPLACE THE FUEL INJECTORS. AS WE NEED TO HAVE THE PILOT ALL THE TIME FOR OUR FAMILY FOR OUR DAILY NEEDS, I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TALK TO HONDA AND EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. SO, I PAID THE SAID AMOUNT AND GOT IT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. THEN I CONTACTED HONDA BY EMAIL(CASE #09801917) TO REIMBURSE ME AND THE HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT SAID I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND HONDA CAN'T HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I TOLD THEM THAT FUEL INJECTORS ARE LIKE THE HEART OF A VEHICLE, AND THEY SHOULD NOT FAIL SO EARLY IN A CAR'S LIFE AND THAT THEY SHOULD RUN FOR LIFE OF THE CAR. BUT STILL THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE INSISTED THAT MY 2016 PILOT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND HONDA CAN'T REIMBURSE ME. I'VE ALL THE RECEIPTS OF THE WORK DONE AND CAN PROVIDE UPON REQUEST
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED WHILE ACCELERATING, WITHOUT WARNING. POHANKA HONDA OF FREDERICKSBURG (60 S GATEWAY DR, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22406) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
FOR HONDA PILOT 2016 , THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION THAT CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO OVERHEAT. THE OVERHEATING ISSUE LEADS TO A 'JUDDER' IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR ACCELERATES IN A VERY JERKY WAY ESPECIALLY BETWEEN 30 AND 50. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE. AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE REACHES 80,000 MILES HONDA WILL NO LONGER COVER THE SO-CALLED 'REPAIR' WHICH IS TO FLUSH THE BURNT TRANSMISSION OIL MULTIPLE TIMES. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AN ERROR WITH THE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM" KEEPS RE-OCCURRING. AN ERROR CODE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" SHOWS UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY RE-SET THE COMPUTER (FOR A PRICE), BUT ERROR CODE RETURNED 24 HOURS LATER. DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2016 HONDA PILOTS.
STARTED CAR IN THE MORNING AND MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED - CAR WORKED JUST FINE THE NIGHT BEFORE WHEN IT WAS PARKED. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND IT CAME BACK WITH CODE P0304 AND A RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE ALL FUEL INJECTORS AND RAILS (PIPES) FOR A TOTAL COST OF $1,311.19. CAR ONLY HAD 46,473 MILES. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD ON TIME SERVICE ALWAYS AND ONLY SERVICED BY DEALER. CAN PROVIDE REPAIR INVOICE IF NEEDED
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM MESSAGE ON DASH. WASN'T ABLE TO START VEHICLE FOR 5 MINUTES. ONCE STARTED WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP ENGINE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH 2016 HONDA PILOT. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS ISSUE UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE CAR WILL NOT START.
OUR HONDA PILOT SHUTS DOWN WHILE BEING OPERATED, TYPICALLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESUME DRIVING AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED AT INTERSECTIONS, MAKING TURNS, RED LIGHTS, ETC. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BECOME UNRESPONSIVE, INCLUDING STARTER, SHIFT CONTROLLER, HAZARD LIGHTS, ETC. TYPICALLY TAKES TO 5 MINUTES TO RESTART, LEAVING US STRANDED IN TRAFFIC; AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAS OCCURRED (5 TIMES SO FAR) WITH THE "AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP" ENGAGED AND IS SUSPECT. 1ST ATTEMPT BY DEALER TO DIAGNOSE & REPAIR INVOLVED REPLACING THE BATTERY DESPITE TESTING "GOOD". SHUTDOWNS CONTINUED; THE LAST OCCURRED IN A 5-LANE HIGHWAY WITH MY WIFE AND 3-YEAR OLD CHILD ON BOARD. 2ND ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE & REPAIR, TOOK 4 WEEKS AND A SUGGESTED REPAIR OF REPLACING THE BATTERY (PREVIOUS BATTERY LESS THAN A YEAR OLD) AND A NEW STARTER @ $1,600; EVEN THOUGH THE TECHNICIAN STATED BOTH WERE "GOOD". CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEALERSHIP/TECHNICIANS ACKNOWLEDGE THE SUSPECTED PROBLEM ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER BASED BUT THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER DOES NOT RECORD THESE EVENTS. THE DEALERSHIP/TECHNICIANS STATE THEY REPORTED AND RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE VIA THEIR IN-HOUSE TECH SITE BUT WE WERE TOLD THIS ISSUE IS UNKNOWN AND ISOLATED TO OUR CAR. OUR SOLUTION BEING A MUTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE, UNNECESSARY REPAIR. I DEBATED THEIR $1,600 "SOLUTION" AND QUESTIONED WARRANTY COVERAGE AND WAS INFORMED IF NOT DONE, WOULD BE RECORDED AS "CUSTOMER REFUSES REPAIR". WHEN I ASKED IF THE $1,600 WOULD BE REFUNDED WHEN THE ISSUE RESUMED (SINCE WELL AGREED THE SUGGESTED REPAIR WAS NOT THE SOLUTION), I WAS INFORMED "NO". WE HAVE NOT DONE THE REPAIR. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AS WE WERE TOLD AND IS EVEN RECORDED HERE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE NUMEROUS TIMES, VERBATIM TO OUR EXPERIENCE.
VEHICLE IS GIVING KEYLESS START PROBLEM ERROR. VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO START (TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START). KEY FOB BATTERY REPLACED, CAR BATTERY REPLACED. IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT OCCURS WITH BOTH KEY FOBS. IT OCCURS AT VARIOUS TIMES OF DAY, AFTER SITTING FOR VARIOUS AMOUNTS OF TIME. VEHICLE IS ALWAYS STATIONARY AS IT IS PARKED AND OFF BEFORE STARTING.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" HAS BEEN POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD FOR PAST MONTH WHEN I START THE CAR. IT HAPPENS WITH BOTH KEY FOBS. I HAVE 60,000 MILES ON PILOT. DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT CAR YET BUT I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS CAUSING ISSUES WITH CAR NOT STARTING. ONLINE COMMENTS SUGGEST HONDA HAS NO CLEAR WAY TO FIX IT.
THE SYSTEMS EMISSION LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND OFF. ALSO THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH RECEIVING FUEL CORRECTLY AND THE CAR SEEMS TO HESITATE ABOUT WHEN ACCELERATING. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTORS ON THE 2016 PILOT BUT MINE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON.
KEYLESS ENTRY PROBLEM CAR WON'T START
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light and after releasing the brake pedal the fuel-saving feature had malfunctioned and the engine did not immediately restart. During the incident, the message "put vehicle to park mode" had displayed. The contact indicated that the failure was very intermittent and when the vehicle was taken to the local dealer the failure could not be duplicated therefore no problem was found and no service was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR MESSAGE WHEN STARTING ENGINE. 2016 HONDA PILOT 45K MILES. MY HONDA SERVICE DEPT WANTS TO HOOK IT UP FOR $170 TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. HE DID SAY IF THE WARNING LIGHT IS ORANGE, NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT TOO MUCH (I GUESS RED MEANS WORRY). NEW BATTERIES IN BOTH FOBS. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING INTERMITTENTLY FOR 6 WEEKS - NOW CONSTANT
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE ERROR MESSAGE COMES AND GOES OVER THE LAST WEEK. WHAT'S CONCERNING IS THE REPORTS OF THE ENTIRE CAR TURNING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING OR IDLING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN 2016 HONDA PILOTS YET NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.
MY 2016 HONDA PILOT HAS STARTED DISPLAYING "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" ON DASHBOARD AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STILL OPERATES NORMALLY WITH EXCEPTION OF NOTICE ON THE DASHBOARD. I'VE RESEARCHED AND NUMEROUS OTHER 2016 HONDA PILOTS ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION.
THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR STILL STARTED BUT IT APPEARS TO BE A MALFUNCTION IN THE WARNING LIGHT SYSTEM ITSELF.
THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKY AND CLUNKY IN LOWER GEARS. OFTEN WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST AND SECOND GEARS THE PILOT JERKS AND MISFIRES. HAPPENS SPORADICALLY, BUT CONSISTENTLY. STARTED AROUND 25 -30K MILES AND GETTING WORSE.
WHEN I COME TO A STOP, THE AUTO STOP FEATURE TURNS THE ENGINE OFF, IF I TRY TO GO AT THE SAME MOMENT IT TURNS OFF, THE CAR STALLS. IT IS VERY RARE BUT HAS HAPPENED 2-4 TIMES. THE CAR STARTS AGAIN BUT IT TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS.
AUTO START BUTTON FAILURE. JUST HAPPENED TO ME AT 36,000 MILES. DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS QUITE COMMON. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE NO PERMANENT FIX. WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE PURCHASING ANOTHER HONDA.
MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 50K MILES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I RECEIVE A DASHBOARD MESSAGE THAT SAYS "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" WHEN I TURN ON THE VEHICLE. THE MESSAGE STAYS DISPLAYED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ON, AND WILL ONLY GO OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.
FACTORY STEREO. I HAD BROUGHT MY CAR TO LIA HONDA IN ENFIELD TO SEE WHY THE FACTORY RADIO WORKS FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE SIRIUS XM RADIO. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD NEED A NEW ANTENNA AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG. CAR HAS 58827 MILES ON IT AND IS A 2016. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 750 DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY ANTENNA.
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN MY EMPLOYER'S PARKING LOT, THE REAR/BACK WINDOW SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PIECES. AFTER RESEARCHING, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING EXTREMELY WARM TEMPERATURES LATELY SO I AM NOT SURE IF THAT IS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. EITHER WAY IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO COME OUT TO YOUR VEHICLE AND NOT HAVE A REAR WINDOW.
WHEN I PUSH THE KEYLESS START/STOP BUTTON I GET AN ERROR THAT READS KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. AT FIRST THE ERROR ONLY APPEARED EVERY NOW AND THEN. NOW IT APPEARS ALMOST ALL THE TIME. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON, SOMETIMES 8 TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO START. NOW WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON TO SHUT OFF THE CAR, SOMETIMES IT WON'T SHUT OFF THE CAR. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON 2 OR 3 TIMES. THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FROM THE BLOGS I READ, HONDA CHARGES UNREASONABLE AMOUNTS TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM AND OFTEN IT IS NOT RESOLVED. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN THIS PROBLEM RESOLVES. WHEN I GET IT TO START THE ERROR MESSAGE REMAINS WHILE DRIVING IT.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AS A "CERTIFIED PRE OWNED BY HONDA" AND FOUR DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, IN "PARK" WHEN I HIT THE START/STOP ENGINE BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START. ALARMS STARTED TO GO OFF SO I ASSUMED IT WAS THE KEY WAS STILL INSIDE THE HOUSE. AS I WENT INSIDE TO CHECK, MAYBE A FEW SECONDS, WHEN I WENT BACK OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WAS GONE. I FOUND IT IN MY FRONT YARD. IT HAD ROLLED OFF WHILE IN PARK WITHOUT ENGINE ON. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED TO HONDA, DAYS LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE START/STOP ENGINE SYSTEM AND THAT IT ALSO NEEDED THE ENTIRE A/C SYSTEM REPLACED. ATTACHED YOU WILL FIND THE PHOTO I TOOK OF THE VEHICLE STILL IN PARK WHEN I FOUND IT IN MY FRONT YARD.
WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR PUT ITSELF INTO PARK WITHOUT MY (THE DRIVER) KNOWLEDGE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE HOWEVER THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT DO SO. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON IN ORDER TO PLACE THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION.
2016 HONDA PILOT BEGAN DISPLAYING "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" ON DASH BOARD AFTER STARTING CAR. VEHICLE STILL OPERATES NORMALLY MINUS THE WARNING LIGHT AND MESSAGE ON DASH. NUMEROUS OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND YEAR.
MY CAR IS AT 37,000 MILES (OF COURSE JUST OVER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY) AND NOW HAS FUEL INJECTOR FAILURE. CAR IS HESITATING AND SPUTTERING DURING ACCELERATION ON ANY ROAD. THE FAILURE IN OUR FUEL INJECTORS HAS CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO BECOME DIRTY AND IS MAKING THE CAR DRIVE STUTTER AND HESITATE DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD WE NEED TO REPLACE FUEL INJECTORS AND REPLACE TRANSITION FLUID. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD.
WHILE IDOL AT RED LIGHT, THE AUTOMATIC IDOL KICKED IN FOR POWER SAVE YET JERKED AND ALL RED LIGHT INDICATORS TURNED ON, INCLUDING PARKING BREAKS, AND CAR SEIZED UP. NO POWER, NO ABILITY PUT CAR IN PARK OR DRIVE. ON/OFF SWITCH NO REACTION TO TURN CAR ON OR OFF. NO BRAKE FUNCTION. I SAT IN AN UNRESPONSIVE VEHICLE AT VERY BUSY INTERCETION. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME WAS STOPPED AND ONLY LAID ON THEIR HORN FOR 2 RED LIGHT CYCLES RATHER THAN HITTING ME. I ACTIVATED MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS YET OTHER DRIVER DID NOT RESPOND. I REPETITIVELY KEPT PUSHING POWER BUTTON IN EFFORT FOR CAR TO RESPOND AND RESTART, EVENTUALLY DID AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF. HAVE APPT WITH DEALERSHIP IN AM.
CAR WON'T START. KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM
GETTING AN ERROR - KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM THIS ERROR APPEARS AS SOON AS CAR IS STARTED AND DOESN'T GO AWAY
WHEN DRIVING IN ECO MODE THE CAR SHUTS PARTIALLY DOWN AT RED LIGHTS AND OTHER STOPS AS IS EXPECTED, BUT LIGHTS, RADIO, AC., ETC STILL FUNCTION. EVERY 5 OR 6TH TIME MY CAR NOW SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND REQUIRES ME TO RESTART IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CURRY HONDA GEORGIA (5525 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, CHAMBLEE, GA 30341), WHERE THE FUEL RAILS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN MY CAR STOPS WHILE APPLYING THE BREAK PADDLE COMPLETELY, THE CAR MAY START 'IDLE STOP' WHICH TURNS OFF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE MAY RESTART EITHER BY RELEASING THE BREAK PADDLE OR WHEN AC OR BATTERY NEEDS THE ENGINE TO TURN BACK ON. WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES WHERE THE CAR WILL COMPLETELY RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN ALL THE LIGHTS, DISPLAYS, RADIO AND ENGINE, AND IT MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES, IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE PRESSES OF THE ENGINE START BUTTON WHICH MAY TAKE MULTIPLE SECONDS AT A STOP. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHERE CARS BEHIND MAY REAR END US WHILE WE TRY TO RESTART. TODAY, IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE IN MOTION AFTER THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I WONDER IF THIS COULD EVEN HAPPEN ON A RAILWAY... WE REPORTED IT TWICE AND TRIED FIXING IT AT A HONDA SHOP (1ST TEXAS HONDA @ AUSTIN, TX), THEY MADE MULTIPLE CLAIMS INCLUDING BAD BATTERY THAT REQUIRED REPLACING IT (ISSUE STILL REOCCURRED), BLAMING IT ON A POWER CABLE THAT GOES TO AN OPTIONAL TRAILER HITCH CONNECTION THAT IS NOT IN USE, BUT HAVE NOT TRIED TRIED REPLACING THE FAULTY IDLE START/ENGINE MODULE. SEARCHING THRU THE INTERNET, THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, TRYING TO TAKE A VIDEO/PHOTO WHEN IT HAPPENS IS NOT SIMPLE, LARGELY, BECAUSE WE DON'T HOLD OUR PHONES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND SECONDLY, IT'S RANDOM EVENT WHEN IT HAPPENS... THE ISSUE REPEATS MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK, BUT NOT ON EVERY STOP. WORSE AT HOT TEMPERATURES.
MY SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED TODAY WHILE WAITING TO EXIT A PARKING LOT. THE SUNSHADE WAS CLOSED SO NO GLASS SHARDS FELL INTO THE CAR. WE WERE MOVING AT OR UNDER 5MPH ON LEVEL GROUND. THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE HIGH 80S WITH CLEAR SKIES AND BRIGHT SUN HERE IN ROCKLAND COUNTY NY, TODAY JULY 7TH 2019. THE GLASS WAS NOT STRUCK BY A STONE OR DEBRIS, THIS WAS MOST LIKELY A DEFECT IN THE GLASS.
MY CAR KEEPS DISPLAYING 'KEY START SYSTEM PROBLEM' IT COMES ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES FOR A WEEK OR JUST A FEW DAYS. I HAVE NOW TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHY IT COMES ON THEN TURNS OFF. THIS LAST TIME LASTED A WEEK AND IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO MOVE WHEN I ACCELERATED. THIS IS CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA PILOTS. I CHECKED ONLINE AND OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM, THEY TRIED REPLACING THE PUSH TO START BUTTON, KEY BATTERIES AND THE HARNESS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START MY CAR ONLY, I HAVE NOT MADE ANY ALTERATIONS TO MY VEHICLE. I JUST GOT MY CAR IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR.
KEY FOB SYSTEM ERROR
FOR AT LEAST THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF I KEEP GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS, KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERIES IN MY FOB BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD CREATE THIS MESSAGE. DURING THE LAST MONTH I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR IS NOT STARTING UP IMMEDIATELY LIKE IT USED TO WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE START/STOP ENGINE BUTTON.I HAVE TO PRESS IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE CAR WILL START. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS TRYING TO START IT TO LEAVE FOR WORK.
IN ADDITION TO "KEYLESS ENTRY ERROR" MESSAGE THAT KEEPS POPPING UP ON MY DISPLAY THESE PAST FEW MONTHS, TODAY, MY CAR WON'T START AND IS DISPLAYING THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGES : "VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM", "HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM", "TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM", "ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM". MILEAGE IS ABOUT 54,000. I HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP IN BOTH 2017 AND 2018 FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, TOO. THIS IS THE WORST HONDA I HAVE EVER OWNED.
CAR SHUTS DOWN AND STALLS WHEN IDLE STOP ENGAGES VERY FREQUENTLY OVER THE PAST YEAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION OR HIGHWAY. HAVE TAKEN IN TO HONDA DEALERS MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND SAY THE BATTERY TESTS OK YET RECOMMEND CHANGING THE BATTERY?!
THE BOARD IS SHOWING THIS MESSAGE AFTER I TURN THE ENGINE ON: KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM
MY HONDA PILOT WILL STALL OUT WHEN COMING OUT OF THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING IN JULY 2019 AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION DOUBLE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOW HAPPENED FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS WHO ARE LEFT STRANDED AT AN INTERSECTION. MY WIFE HAS TO ATTEMPT TO RECYCLE THE POWER TO THE PILOT BY HOLDING DOWN THE POWER BUTTON TO THE PILOT. MY WIFE HAS CAPTURED MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF THE DASH WITH ALL THE ERROR MESSAGES POPPING UP AFTER IT HAS DIED.
WHEN SHIFTING FROM R TO D, THE VEHICLE WOULD PERIODICALLY SHIFT TO PARK AND THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WOULD BE ON DURING THIS TIME. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, IT WOULD RESET AND YOU COUPDNDRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT SAID THAT HONDA HAD THIS KNOWN ISSUE AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AFTER THIS AND OWNERS DEEMED THE CAR DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THE DEALER AGREED TO PURCHASE IT FOR CASH.
I AM GETTING A KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR. THIS COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO NOT START OR STOP. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING ON THESE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AND THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY IN THESE SWITCHES.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after stopping at a traffic light, the Auto START/STOP feature failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed by the dealer to replace the battery; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM
AT ABOUT 47250 MILES ON MY 2016 HONDA PILOT LX AWD, KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM DISPLAYS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. STARTED ON 6/29/2019. ALL I DID WAS PUSH THE ENGINE START STOP BUTTON 2 TIMES BEFORE PRESSING THE BRAKE AND ACTUALLY STARTING UP THE VEHICLE. THEN THEN MESSAGE APPEARS. NO HESITATION UPON STARTING EITHER OR ANY WEIRD SOUNDS, NOR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON DISPLAY. VEHICLE PURCHASED AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WITH ABOUT 20000K ON IT IN 2018. KEY FOB BATTERY IS GOOD IN BOTH KEYS.
