NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Honda Prologue. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Loud clicking noise/knocking when I turn left or right. I first notified Honda service on 9/24/25. I was told I would need a new axle but the part was backordered nationwide. The noise seems to be getting worse with small vibrations when turning. I called the same dealership service today 3/5/26 and was told Honda corporate release guidance two weeks ago that this is not a safety issue and that they would not cover a new axle unless it was part of a recall.
I got my honda prologue in may 2024, brand new. I have since had it into the shop about to be for the 2nd time due to clicking when i turn . CV JOINTS . they replaced all of them in 9/25 and now again in 11/25... not even 3 months later. I currently also have issues with the mileage, i used to get 260 when i would charge to 80% not i only get 230 if i am lucky. Also , my temp gauges tend of be wrong. along with my mileage showing i have more than i start driving and it goes down by 10-15 miles.... This car is worthless and the constant issues witht he CV JOINTS needs to be recalled so our cars can get bought back .. this is causing more issues for the owners than it needs to be
Every day when backing out of the driveway the car activates the rear emergency breaks as it “sees” my neighbors parked truck across the seat. At no point is my car anywhere near th parked truck. Also, the emergency brake activates multiple times.
cv problem clicking sound every time I turn with low speed .
Broken/Clicking CV joints. This could lead to all loss of power transfer to the wheels, causing a sudden and unexpected stop to the vehicle while driving. Honda is aware of this defect, but has no permanent fix. This is confirmed by multiple Honda Service Centers. High Voltage Warning. Loss of heat, car will not charge, car shuts down/becomes undrivable, or enters "limp mode." This is an extreme safety issue. The car loses the ability to properly cool the main battery. This could result in thermal runaway (a rapid, uncontrollable, and self-sustaining increase in battery cell temperature), resulting in a fire that is difficult to extinguish, burns extremely hot, may reignite hours or days after the initial incident, and/or result in explosion. This is confirmed by multiple Honda Dealerships. The warning has occurred multiple times, even after multiple repair attempts.
Front axel joint needs to be replaced, dealer unable to replace as was told No part exists.
The issue appears to involve the steering and/or front drivetrain system. When making any U-turn, particularly at low speeds with the steering wheel turned to full lock, a distinct clicking sound is heard from the front of the vehicle. The sound occurs consistently during tight turning maneuvers.Because U-turns are often performed in intersections or busy roadways, any unexpected mechanical failure could put me, my passengers, and nearby drivers or pedestrians at risk. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any other entity. No warning lamps/ messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the start of this issue.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that two key fobs were programmed for his spouse and his seat. While reversing with the key fob programmed for his wife, the seat moved to her preset position, and the contact was concerned about losing control of the vehicle during an unintended seat adjustment. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that while making right or left turns, there was a loud clicking sound coming from the wheel wells. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the front driver’s and passenger’s side CV joint axles were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the parts to repair the vehicle were on back order. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 10,000.
The CV joint makes a clicking sound when turning, the car has 8000 miles on it
I got several false positives from the radar or perhaps optical system that caused the vehicle to spontaneously and suddenly brake at freeway speeds. I believe it was the optical system that was at fault due to the shifting lines on the freeway but I can't be sure. I got the radio update service bulletin work completed by the dealership and it seems to have abated. However, any 2024 prologue that has not received the update is subject to the same error. From what I understand, Honda has stopped performing the service bulletin at this time due to update failures that have "bricked" the car's software.
My Honda Prologue is experiencing CV joint issues, primarily manifesting as a loud clicking or knocking noise when turning, even at low mileage. I have only just reported this to my Honda dealer, but the vehicle is still within the warranty period. From what I have read, the part was not designed correctly and it will fail on every single vehicle. The problem is widespread enough that there should be a recall issued and Honda should be forced to fix the part on every single vehicle it sold.
The vehicle's steering and suspension are making a clicking noise at the CV joint. There are no clear dashboard signs or error indicating that there is an issue with the vehicle. It started a couple months ago and I see that it is a common issue in Honda prologue coming from Chevy component reuse.
The vehicle began popping when turning left near the axel. Once brought up to Honda we were made aware that they know about the issue but my vehicle didn’t fall as necessary to fix…..yet and they are hoping for a recall in order to address my issue. Till then I’m supposed to drive around with a potentially broken axel with my children.
The front suspension (CV joint or drive shaft) makes a clicking/popping/knocking noises when turning right and left from a standstill. The car has 15,000 miles. The noise started around 10,000 miles.
Faulty CV joint that produce knocking sounds when turning, recently, along with the knocking noise there is a loud bang noise when trying to turn with some acceleration, the noise is very loud and seems to be something is going to break. It may break down on turning. CV joints were replaced for this car twice and the problem is still comes back, recent diagnosis determined they will need to be replaced again. No warning lights are associated with this problem.
The contact owned a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact while depressing the accelerator pedal and attempting to make a left or right turn, there was a clicking sound coming the front of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. Neither a dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,600.
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn, there was a clicking sound coming from the front driver’s and passenger’s side wheels. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the vehicle was inspected, and the contact stated that the vehicle was operating as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,800.
CV joints making clicking noise when turning both sides.
Both screens went black during drive - no visuals for mph, safety features including blind spot assist, pedestrian signal and back up camera are included not working. When vehicle is off the radio is still playing. Soft reset did not work. This is second time this has happened. I am taking it to dealer for a hard reset - hopefully this works.
The right side bumper has separated from the hinges, and I feel that this might be related to the previous 2024 Honda Prologue recall about the right control arm. I just want to make sure that it is reported as it looks like a manufacturing fault. My car only has 1500 miles on it.
Hello good morning my car is sounding too bad noise more and more everyday went to showroom 3 times show them and they giving reply that this is honda manufacturing default we are working on it to fix it everytime they are responding the same and everyday me and my family is scared to drive this car on highway please help we are paying so much for this car and we are not having no answer And i attach the photo of how the honda people are replying me on everycall please help us we are soo disappointed of this car paying this much money and we got this car i dont need this car so upset with honda
At 1200 miles the car began to have clicking noise when doing sharp turns which appeared to be a CV joint/ axle issue. At 3900 miles dealership replaced both axles. Claimed original parts were defective. Left dealership and with in 9 miles of driving, the same problem problem continued with the clicking, only louder. Car also has "sticky" unresponsive steering for brief moment every time when attempting change lanes or exit freeway. This is an issue expereince only when the car is driven at higher speeds. Lane depature system is always disabled so it should not contribute to this problem. Car is now back at the dealership to have the axles replaced again with only 4000 miles on it. This means the car is now on it's third set of axles in under 9 months and with 4000 miles.
- CV Joint(s), front, both left and right are failing. Clicking on both sides is getting progressively worse. Yes would be available for inspection. - To date, no safety incidents. - Vehicle has been inspected twice now by the dealership. First at ~6 months old, now at ~10 months. Honda is acknowledging this problem, but is not allowing the dealership to fix the problem as it is under " investigation". The CV joints are clearly failing and Honda is doing nothing about it.
This is not one incident, but a building problem. We are hearing a clicking sound from the front of the car whenever making a turn. I think it is the same CV joint problem so many other Prologue owners are complaining about. Is this dangerous? This is our fourth Honda vehicle, and one would expect a reputable company like Honda to stand by their vehicles. A recall is certainly warranted with so many having this issue.
Since ~7000 miles, there is loud clicking noise hearable as soon as the wheels are turned either to the very right or left on the car.
According to my research the part that has failed in the CV joint for my right front wheel. This was made evident to me by an occasional clicking noise when I turn and accelerate. The part is not available for inspection. So far, it has not put myself or others at risk. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer. Neither the vehicle nor the component has been inspected by those you listed above. There have been no warnings or other symptoms before the CV joint failed and the clicking noise began.
Noise coming from the CV axles when the steering wheel is turned either left or right.
Bad Axle causing car to mange click noise when turning left or right
Vehicle charge will drop signficatinally when parked for over night. Car was charged to 100 % then dropped to 92% overnight. Car only gets 50-60% of mileage stated from the dash and app. Car has 3997 miles on it, yet as has charge history shows it has been charged enough throughout history to have 8,100 miles.
Car makes loud clicking noise while making turns. Steering doesn’t come back to center after making sharper turns. Suspect bad CV joint, common when searching online for this problem.
Forward collision warning system activated Automatic Emergency Braking system and brought car to an immediate stop. This has happened multiple times for no reason. Sometimes it will activate on a street with no other vehicles, today it almost got me rear-ended in traffic.
Frequently engages erroneously due to heavy rain or pavement markings. Last week when it was raining heavily, AEB engaged at least 10 times while I tried to back out of my garage (there was nothing/nobody in my driveway). And this past Friday it engaged 3 times on different colorings for patched pavement cracks in a parking lot while backing out of a parking spot.
When you turn on Reverse at night, the back up camera is so dark it is hard to see if it’s not fully lit outside by other means. Either the camera needs to be better quality for night viewing or another lighting source should be added to see safely. Thank you.
Vehicle makes clicking noises when making sharp turns at low speed. Replacement of left front axle done at 3,833 miles by dealership service department on 5/22/25. Clicking was reported again on 6/15/25 but was unable to replicate in noisy surroundings. Dealership advisor stated there is no solution to repair the problem and this would keep happening. Noise worsened and vehicle was taken to a different dealer on 7/21/25. The service advisor stated that they were "unable to determine cause at this time. Concern is under investigation." Advisor claimed this "may possibly be a normal characteristic."
The vehicle emits a loud clicking or popping noise from the front axle/CV joints when turning from a complete stop, despite having very low mileage. It has already been serviced twice and is currently in service for the same issue. A failing CV axle is essential to steering and can pose significant safety risks, especially at higher speeds.
I purchased brand new honda prologue almost spent 60k and from the day i bought the car starting the next week it start making slow sounds from front tire or suspension and slowly slowly it going more and more i went for my 1 service complain about that to the service advisor he finish the service and come back to me and give me the answer that this is manufacture default honda is having we cannot do nothing in this case indeed not having no help i leave from there the sounds getting more and more i am getting too scared to drive this vehicle on highway on 70mph because i feel the tire will break i went again for 2 service recently with more noice and they gave me the same answer that honda have manufacturing default i mean spending 60k with this kind of response is crazy i cannot believe i am soo disappointed and upset to have this car i am soo scared i need help please help me asap
At almost 20,000 miles my car shut itself off while I was still driving. I was slowing down to a stop but my car was not functioning properly, could not turn my car off, put in park or turn of parking break. I had to sit in the middle of the street for at least a minute until I was able to shut off my car and restart it again. I drove straight to the Honda dealership. Waiting on diagnostic results. Also, I have always had a problem reversing out of a parking space when it rains. The emergency sensor reads an object behind me and automatically breaks even though I am the only car in the parking lot. It takes me minutes to back out enough to turn my car.
Both CV axles are making cliking noises and popping sounds honda refuses to make repairs
Subject: Safety Complaint – 2024 Honda Prologue – Clicking Noise When Turning (Possible CV Axle Defect) I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2024 Honda Prologue Touring due to a persistent clicking noise when turning, which appears to be related to the front axle or CV joint. Vehicle Information: Year: 2024 Make: Honda Model: Prologue Touring Mileage:10300 VIN: [XXX] Description of Issue: The vehicle produces a noticeable clicking/popping noise when turning left or right, especially at low speeds such as in parking lots or during tight turns. The noise is consistent and reproducible. The issue appears to originate from the front axle/drivetrain area and raises concern about potential failure of a critical drivetrain component. Safety Concern: This defect may indicate premature wear or failure of the CV joint or axle assembly. A failure of this component while driving could result in loss of power to the wheels and create a dangerous driving condition, increasing the risk of an accident. Dealer Response: I brought the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. The dealer acknowledged the issue but stated that no repair or fix is currently available and advised me to contact Honda directly. The issue remains unresolved. Additional Notes: Based on my research, multiple other owners are experiencing similar issues with the same vehicle, suggesting this may be a widespread defect rather than an isolated incident. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting the 2024 Honda Prologue. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 1. Infotainment system completely shuts off at random moments and not form of reset will bring them to work again. 2. Forward Collision Warning: Will sound at times even if there is absolutely nothing ahead of you. 3. Lane departure is not always “available at this time”.
HondaLink does not work. I cannot rely on the app to charge or use any functionality of the app. I have to use other charging apps to charge my car.
Knocking noise when making a right or left noise. Noise seems to slowly get louder.
The vehicle produces a ratcheting / clicking sound from the front axle area when turning the steering wheel, especially during low-speed turns such as pulling out of a parking space or making sharp turns. The sound appears to originate from the front drive axle or CV joint area. The noise is repetitive and occurs when the vehicle is under light acceleration while the wheels are turned. This problem has been widely reported by other Honda Prologue owners and appears related to defective front drive axles or CV joints. There are reports and a current lawsuit alleging that the 2024–2026 Honda Prologue vehicles have axle defects causing clicking or ratcheting noises when turning. I am concerned that the drivetrain component may fail prematurely and potentially affect steering or vehicle control. Because this involves the axle and drivetrain, it may represent a safety risk if the component degrades or fails while the vehicle is in motion. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated for potential safety defects affecting Honda Prologue vehicles.
Multiple warnings: AWD temporarily unavailable, service stabilitrak, reduced acceleration drive with care. Not braking completely when speeding
Vehicle Make: Honda Model: Prologue Year: 2024 VIN: [XXX] Description of the issue: I own a 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN [XXX] ) with approximately 7,500 miles. I began noticing a clacking or clicking sound when turning the steering wheel fully left or right. There is also visible grease on the inside of the front wheels, indicating a possible failure in the axle system. I took the vehicle to Honda White Plains, where I was informed that the front axles must be replaced. The issue is reportedly covered under warranty, but the dealership is waiting for Honda’s approval to proceed with the replacement. I am filing this report because I am concerned about potential safety implications related to steering or suspension, and to document this issue in case other owners are experiencing similar failures. While driving my 2024 Honda Prologue, the automatic emergency braking system (part of Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System) has activated unexpectedly and forcefully multiple times — with no obstacle or vehicle ahead. The most serious incident occurred on 6/28/2024, while traveling at approximately 70 mph. The vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes without warning or any visible threat in the road. We did not crash, but the vehicle behind us narrowly avoided rear-ending us. This also happens about 50% of the time we reverse the vehicle. Given the potential severity of this defect — especially involving passenger injuries and potential crashes — I am deeply concerned. Many other Honda owners have reported similar phantom braking behavior across multiple models, and I believe this defect needs to be investigated urgently by NHTSA. Honda has not issued a recall or provided public guidance on how to disable or address the system, leaving drivers at risk.
I got in my car and received the following error messages immediately upon turning on the car: - Brake System Failure 43 MPH Max Speed - Brake Assist Failure. Press hard to brake. Speed limited. - Service Stabilitrak - Auto Hold Unavailable Driving the car was very unsafe as the brakes were extremely difficult to engage, taking my full body force to fully depress the pedal and have the brakes slowly engage. I have taken the car to my Honda Dealership, which (at this time) has been unable to replicate the issue or find a problem. This is a safety issue to have unresolved, as the brakes suddenly becoming extremely difficult to work makes the car unsafe to drive.

Seems like cv joint issue. Every turn you make with the prologue there is a clicking sound. It happens on a left and right turn and sounds like clicking or tapping noise.
