While operating my 2019 Honda Ridgeline at normal driving speed, the vehicle experienced a sudden and catastrophic engine failure without warning. Immediately prior to failure, a loud metallic knocking/hammering noise developed from the engine area. Within seconds, the engine lost power and shut off completely while the vehicle was in motion. After the shutdown, the vehicle would not restart. Attempts to start the engine resulted in minimal or no crank, even when using a jump start. The vehicle had to be towed. A subsequent inspection determined that the engine had no compression, indicating severe internal mechanical failure. The failure occurred abruptly and without any prior warning lights, temperature issues, or drivability concerns. This failure created a significant safety hazard, as the vehicle lost all power while driving, which could have resulted in a loss of control or increased risk of collision, especially in higher-speed or traffic conditions.

The contact's boyfriend owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while her boyfriend was driving at highway speeds, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode with the check engine and emissions warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and was later towed to the dealer. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic discovered that an engine rod had gone through the engine block, resulting in engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. A case was filed with the dealer for financial assistance, but the case was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

On 1/5/2026 while pulling unto a major intersection, my 2019 Honda Ridgeline with 64,000 miles suddenly jolted, lost engine power, and every dash light came on indicating that all electronics were inoperable. Fortunately there was no fast moving on coming traffic. After examination in mechanics shop, it was found that the camshaft was bad. attached is the $3,900.00 invoice. Attached also is a picture of the sensor showing that the camshaft was moving and hitting the sensor which caused the truck to go into safe mode. According to your own investigation and speaking to the Honda service department, this obvious is a factory defect that Honda needs to address. The cam obviously is not strong enough. There are 4.3 million complaints. I want to be reimbursed or will never, ever buy a Honda product. This is a safety issue as well as a consumer protection issue.
The engine light came on and cam shaft caused the rod bearing to fail. I see there is a recall 23v751. But my vehicle vin. Is not on it 2019 honda ridgeline
My engine started knocking from the connecting rod bearings and my vehicle is now not usable. The active recall on 2017 and 2019 Ridgelines is not covering my VIN and I have read many others are having the same issue. This issue if left untreated could cause my vehicle to die resulting in a loss of power. The manufacturer is refusing to repair the issue.
I own a 2019 Honda Ridgeline rtl. I presently have 66000 miles and am having issues with my engine emmision system, the number 2 sensor keeps going off and on and fuel rpm at 1.5 make my truck sputter until it gets pass 2 rpms. The lights going off and on! And the media system goes from music to GPS and volume goes up and down spontaneously! Honda in Calhallen Texas say no recalls on it! Not sure what is going on i just don't want it to leave me in the road! I take care of my vehicles with the miles it has it shouldn't be having these many mechanical problems. Hope you can help or advise!
I was driving to work, engine starting knocking, check engine and battery light came on, and truck shut down. I coasted to a stop and had truck trailered 110mi. to dealer.

Truck started clacking going down the freeway after religiously maintaining it for the last 5 years. Took it into the dealer at 153,000 miles and was told my engine needs replacing due to rod bearing knock. A little premature on a Honda that has been religiously maintained! Called Honda customer service and was told my vin is not included in the rod bearing safety recall for my exact vehicle, year, make, and model!
The vehicle lurches forward when accelerating. You start off from a stand still, as you are accelerating the vehicle slows, then speeds up, then slows then speeds up. this happens multiple time. You can watch the tachometer, it goes up then down, then up then down. It can happen 10, 20 times while accelerating.
Failed camshaft thrust bearing per Honda. This same part on other 2019 Ridgeline models was subject of Recall number 23V-751. While this failure is not covered by that recall it is very difficult to believe this part wasn't defective as well. The fix is very expensive ($4500) and I can't be the only 2019 Ridgeline owner in this situation.

The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-010 related to the fuel injectors; however, his vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
I just purchased a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. When driving I noticed the hood vibrating or shaking. I checked to ensure it was closed all the way, and it was. When I did research, I found there is a safety recall for this exact issue, and the year, make and model of my truck falls into the affected years. However, when I look up my VIN, it does not comeback with the recall authorization. Please advise. The recall number is: 21V932

The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while the vehicle was parked inside the garage, the horn and panic alarm activated independently, and the headlights started flashing. The contact disconnected the battery to stop the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. An unknown software update was performed on the vehicle. The contact stated that when the windows were completely closed, there was a musty odor inside the vehicle. The contact was unsure where the odor was coming from. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
While driving with the cruise control set at 52mph, I was coming to a known left curve with a stop sign four way intersection that follows it (I drive this route at least 50% of the time whenever leaving my home). I hit the 'Cancel' button to stop the cruise control as I came to the curve, and there was no response. I hit the brakes and again there was no response. At that point I prepared for a wreck because I knew the curve was tight, followed by that intersection's stop sign, and I was almost upon the curve. Continuing to try to apply brakes and getting no response, I could not hold the curve of the road and left the roadway to the right side. I narrowly avoided a lightpole, and then I was finally at the ditch of the crossroad already mentioned. The truck struck the ditch embankment facing me and likely launched airborn at that point, going across the first lane of the crossroad. After about the width of that lane, it appears that's when the front suspension landed, gouging the asphalt and deploying the airbag on me at that point. This seems to be when the braking system finally responded as I started to slow down some, as it bounced and jerked across the remaining lanes, leaving skid marks on that part of the road. I steered it between two signs on the far side, still barely under control but it finally slowing down into the 20s or so, where I had control and brought it to a stop. The vehicle had no known issues or ODBII scan codes prior to this incident. *After the incident*, there was an ABS system fault code present, and it also showed an ABS fault message on the vehicle information screen after the incident. I believe this could be related to the cruise control malfunction, as I know that the ABS system is often involved in modern cruise control systems to control hill descent speeds. The road section just prior to where I attempted to turn off the cruise control was on a slight hill descent, but I don't know if that was related to what happened to me.
Transmission hesitates during acceleration. Truck was purchase new and the problem began within 10k miles. Dealer suggested changing transmission oil every 30k miles but the problem would happen soon after every change. Transmission failed on highway with 99k miles. Dealer charged 10k to replace transmission with admitting they are seeing this issue on other 6 speed transmission.
Transmission jerks when shifting thru gears, car shudders and rpms jump when both upshifting and downshifting. Have had the transmission serviced several times by Honda dealer, fluids changed and updated with no change in performance.
My 2019 Honda Ridgeline vehicle has less than 70,000 miles and we have always gotten our oil changed at the recommended times. The last time was about 2,000 miles ago at the Honda dealership. We also regularly check the oil. While driving down the interstate near where we live, the car engine suddenly stopped working and smoke came from the engine. Thankfully, we were in right lane and were able to coast it to the shoulder. We had the car towed to the nearest Honda dealership. For some reason which the Honda dealership won't disclose nor would corporate Honda, the piston in the engine blew two holes in the number 5 cylinder. This damage is consistent with the possible damage that a recent recall addressed. In that recall the piston bearings needed to be replaced. Although some 2019 Honda Ridgelines were included in that recall, our VIN number was not. There was also a recent investigation by the NHTSA into similar instances involving similar damages and vehicles not being included in the baring recall. Although we were not hurt, if the highway had been more crowded or the car not in the right lane, we could have been seriously hurt. Furthermore, the engine will cost $17,548 to replace. After requesting assistance from the Honda through their goodwill program, we were denied. The car has not yet been repaired. We would like to request further investigation into this and similar instances. Thank you.
The Transmission error continues to flash on the dash. It has now happened on four (4) occasions. Transmission was flushed and still occurs. Diagnostic Error Code P0741 stored. Torque Converter issue. Honda has extended the warranty for most of these vehicles, mine is not showing in the extension. However, it appears to meet all the specifications that it should be covered. Have it at the dealership which confirms all above. They claim Honda Corporate has to decide to extend the warranty. Talked to Honda Corporate today and they said the NHTSA has to extend the warranty, they do not decide.
(This incident report is for my replacement transmission, I have already submitted an incident report for my original transmission which also failed in the exact same manner.) 1. My replacement transmission started bucking and clanging and down shifted extremely hard while I was driving in traffic, I lost all power and the vehicle would not accelerate but the RPM's kept rising. 2. My safety was at risk because I lost power while in traffic and my vehicle became disabled on the road and I required the assistance of good Samaritans to help move my car off the road way, causing their safety to be at risk too. 3. My vehicle has been inspected by Honda. Their recommendation was to replace the original transmission, so I did, and the second transmission (the subject of this incident report) also failed, in the same manner. 4. The vehicle monitoring system did not give any prior warning that something was wrong till after the vehicle bucked, down shifted and lost power, only then did the car warnings go off and say "Transmission system" and then "emissions system"

2019 Honda Ridgeline alarm started going off at random times. This is a safety concern because it causes drain on battery and could affect vehicles ability to operate . The part is the keyless entry unit located behind glove box. I had to go out to check the car in the middle of the night several times. This part has been reported and listed here under bulletin SB-21-055. Honda offered extended warranty and fixed some vehicles as reported by some Ridgeline owners. This random alarm was reported by 86 Ridgeline owners according to Ridgeline owners club. The repair cost me $957 including a $287 charge for labor- according to the NHSTA bulletin SB 21-055 labor should be .03 to .08 hours to repair - beware of over charge for labor. Courtesy Honda of Palm Harbor Fl. Offered $100 off when informed of the keyless entry unit history. I escalated to American Honda who offered nothing, not even goodwill discount. This is the keyless entry unit for bind Ridgeline and Pilots. There is a documented issue with this part (SB 21-055) it’s a safety concern considering the draw on battery power not to mention where you are when the alarm starts blaring. This part has a known history of being faulty, has been documented with NHSTA (SB 21-055) Ridgeline Owners Club has 86 different entries for that part alone and could effect lighting and driver assist functions considering the draw on battery power. The alarm goes off without warning or indication and happens randomly.
On 5/10/25, while driving 5 warning icons came flashing on after another. 1) emissions system problem 2)VSA systems 3) Hill assist problem 4)TSA 5)Power steering system problem . This 2019 Honda Ridgeline with 49272 miles ended stalling 3 xs in the middle of traffic!! Frank Brown Honda was called and not very helpful! I’m waiting to hear on expensive warranty what can be done. I don’t have towing so stranded at my house with the car. This was scary and upsetting!! Please help if you can
The back up camera has goes to a black screen. The wires in the harness at the tailgate appear pinched/damaged. I am not able to see animals or children in the camera.

My check engine light started blinking, and the engine began to idle roughly. Took into dealership, and there was a connecting rod bearing failure on cylinder 1. Seems related to recall 23V-751.
While driving in traffic, the transmission made a clunk and the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, instead the rpms kept rising, (zero change in speed) the vehicle never shifted up or down again after this. Had to keep the car driving at around 35 mph till I got to a safe location to park the car.
I am writing to advise you of Recall Notices I have received but have been unable to get addressed on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. Over the last year I have received 3 Recall Notices and have not been unable to get them taken care of. Shown below are the actions I have taken relative to the Recall Notices. Perhaps you can assist me in this endeavor. February, 2024- Received Recall Notice (Copy Attached) March 5, 2024: Contacted Dealership (Don Moore Honda, Owensboro, Ky.) Was advised to call back the first week of April to see if the parts had come in to do the necessary mechanical work. May 13, 2024: Contacted Dealership- parts had not arrived yet. Advised to call back in the fall of the year. Parts may have arrived by that time. Late May, 2024- Received 2nd Recall Notice from Honda Automotive December, 2024- Received 3rd Recall Notice from Honda Automotive January 14, 2025- Contacted Dealership- was told parts still not on hand. Woman I spoke with said she would order the parts and advise when parts arrived. Today is March 12, over a year since I received my first Recall Notice. I have received two similar Recall Notices since then. And still no activity to address the possible problem. If the Recall is not necessary, then would someone please let me know, so I can disregard the Recall Notices. If the Recall Notice is important, then please advise what I can do to get the issue resolved.
Considering purchasing but, after checking VIN, there was no report of Camera harness or fuel pump recall being completed.
I have had to replace the transmission fluid at least 5 times. The vehicle shifts extremely hard and feels like your being rear ended, That is my indicator to change fluid. Also will not shift and continues to run at 4500+ rpms on the highway. The clutch converter my self destruct and I feel that it is a poor design and I should not have to pay for this over and over and hope it does not have a catastrophic failure at some point. I know they Honda has replaced some clutch converters but mine is not one of the six speeds chosen.

Bought this 2019 Honda Ridgeline on 1/2/25. Honda corrected the recall for fuel pump and after that, my car is burning fuel like crazy. Now they said that I need to replace my fuel pump and they said my VIN is not included on the recall for fuel injectors. Honda know that they should recall all their 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN. They need to recall this faulty fuel injectors with the new one and honor the 10 years and 150,000 miles fuel injectors warranty on all the 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN numbers. This is safety issue and should be addressed by Honda.
The trailer hitch receiver broke off the trailer hitch frame, which caused out travel trailer to become completely disconnected from the truck. The hitch was standard equipment on the truck when we bought the truck new, and the hitch is rated as "Class III", which means it should be able to tow a trailer weighing up to 8,000 pounds, with a tongue weight up to 800 pounds. Our trailer has a dry weight of 3,500 pounds, and a hitch weight of 535 pounds. We've owned the truck since it was new, and the truck has never pulled a heavier trailer. By a stroke of incredibly good luck, the trailer broke free from the truck when we were going 5 mph in a level parking lot. We were 1450 miles into a trip, and many of those miles were at highway speed. If the trailer receiver had broken at highway speed, the trailer would have been completely free of the truck at highway speed.
Recall is from Feb. 2024. Repeated calls starting in Feb. 2024 to Vans Honda in Green Bay, WI. Called 4 or 5 times and talked to a Service Rep. They are responded that they did not have the part needed to fix the issue and did not know when the part would be available. The ALL said that I would be contacted as soon as the part was available to set up an appointment to have the defective part replaced. On 1/6/2025 I again contacted Vans Honda. The rep said they did not have the part but that he would put in an order TODAY to order the part for me. I asked why after calling five time the part was not on order already. He did not know. My vehicle now has another issue. The display is showing "Emissions System Problem". I believe this new issue has to do with the fuel not being delivered to the engine properly due to the defective part in the fuel pump. I believe Honda needs to fix all the engine problems this recall has given to my vehicle.

already had to replace camera and shop billed me approximately 1000 and although have extended warranty it is not covered. Also, have had the transmission serviced by them and it still jumps and dealership said is standard for the truck to perform lot that when it cold. This has just recently started happening but say nothing they can do.
Torque Converter malfunctioned causing vehicle to bang into first gear with slow acceleration there after as I was accelerating/merging onto the highway. Tractor trailer that was coming up to where I was merging needed to swerve into other lane to avoid hitting me. Brought vehicle to dealer and they confirmed that my torque converter needed to be changed. There were no previous warning signs or warning lamps indicating there was a problem. Honda has a service bulletin out # 23-078 for faulty torque converter issue for my year but Honda dealer states that my VIN is not part of that service bulletin so I have to pay to replace the torque converter.

Excessive wear on connecting rod or crankshaft bearings. While performing a pre-road trip oil change after only 1600 miles, I found a large amount of copper glitter metal particles in the engine oil. I have oil samples and the oil filter available for inspection. And I have pictures. If the bearings seize the engine will stop running possibly causing an accident. I had put just 15 miles on the fresh oil while driving it to the Honda dealer. They drained the fresh oil and said they did not find metal - not surprising because I had just changed it. They said the connecting rods weren't knocking and to drive it another 5000 miles then bring it back. I hear some faint knocking when the engine is cold that goes away as the engine gets warm.
There is a fuel pump recall on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The danger of this is it could go out causing a crash and or injury. I have been trying to get this replaced for ONE YEAR now, to no avail. I want to avoid this happening while driving at freeway speeds, and need to have it replaced ASAP.

I had to replace a bank of injectors and I only had about 75000 miles on vehicle. this is a defect they should not fail so early. They are TSB and recalls on my model just not my VIN
I am writing to express my concern regarding an ongoing transmission issue with my Honda Ridgeline. I initially experienced problems with the transmission around 60,000 miles, which manifested as gear slippage or shuddering. After bringing the vehicle in for inspection, I was informed that this issue had been noticed with other Ridgeline models, although Honda has not issued a recall for it. Instead, a Service Bulletin was issued, recommending a transmission fluid flush followed by a test drive at various speeds, and repeating this process three times. This procedure was performed, and the issue seemed to resolve temporarily. However, I am now experiencing the same problem again at 79,000 miles. While the flush worked previously, it seems unreasonable that I would need to repeat this process, especially considering the associated costs of flushing the transmission fluid multiple times without a lasting solution.
Fuel pump module - truck surges, stumbles ,slows down at 20-40 mph. Contacted 2 Honda dealerships mid- late May 2024 ( Gunn Honda, HillCountry Honda San Antonio TX), was told parts to fix unavailable. Contacted same 2 November 16 , told parts still unavailable to fix, even though It’s been 7 months since I received recall notice and contacted the dealerships.
Was extended warranty for my make model and year for faulty fuel injectors. Exact same codes on the bulletin but wasn't covered due to vin specific.
