THE LIGHTS IN THE INSIDE COME ON BY IT SELF WHEN WHILE DRIVING THE DOME LIGHTS N THE OTHER PANEL LIGHT. SUSPENSION UNDER THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR RATTLE. ALSO WHEN STOPPING THE CAR WHEN IT RAINING IT SLIDS
WATER LEAKING FROM A/C BOX THROUGH THE VENTILATION FAN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WEBSITE RESERCH REVEALED THAT THIS ISUE IS BECOMING A REGULAR PROBLEM FOR HYUNDAYS AND THE OWNERS CANNOT ANYTHING TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. THEREFORE, BECOMING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE PREVENTED BY MANUFACTURING PROPER AC DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.
CAR STARTS BUT WON'T STAY ON, NEW BATTERY INSTALLED, STILL DOESN'T TURN ON, IN GARAGE AND IS BEING TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WINDOWSHIED FOG CONSTANTLY, AND ALL F A SUDDEN AFTER 10 MINUTES AND ONLY WAY TO DEFOG---OPEN WINDOWS., HAPPENS EVERY AM AS DRIVING TO WORK ON FREEWAY OR HOME AT NIGHTS. THE CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED. GAS MILEAGE IS NOT 33 MILES PER GALLON. DISAPPOINTED. ALSO SUN ROOF DOESN'T CLOSE, WAS FIXED, AND STILL DOESN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY WITHOUT ME DOING FANCY MANEUVER WITH SWITCH. CONCERNED- MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!
REAR OF THE VEHICLE TENDS TO FISHTAIL OR SWAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH WHILE OPERATING ON SNOW COVERED ROADS, DURING RAINY ROAD CONDITIONS, WHEN THE VEHICLE TRAVELS UNEVEN PAVEMENT SUCH A STEEL BRIDGE DECK JOINTS. I CHECKED AND THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 20 SIMLIAR COMPLAINTS IN THE FIRST 80 COMPLAINTS THAT I LOOKED AT. SO 25% PERCENT OF THE FIRST 80 COMPLAINTS THAT I LOOKED AT FOR AGAINST THIS CAR ARE SIMILAR IN NATURE. THESE CONDITION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND HE DECLINED TO SAY THERE ARE ANY KNOWN ISSUES AS DESCRIBED. I JUST MOUNTED MY WINTER TIRES AND WAS MADE AWARE OF SEVERE WEAR AS IF ONLY 1/3 OF TIRE IS ACTUALLY IN CONTACT WITH THE ROAD SURFACE. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE CAR IS UNSTABLE IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS. I JUST HAD THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED AND IT WAS FINE. THE POOR DESIGN OF THE REAR END AS FAR AS TRACKING GOES COULD EXPLAIN WHY TIRES ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY AND WHY THE VEHICLES FISHTAIL. I OWN A HYUNDAI 2013 ELANTRA AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR HAS SEVERAL TIMES REFUSED TO START AND THE BREAK PAD GETS STUCK AND I CAN'T MOVE THE CAR OUT OF PARK. I'VE HAD TO CALL THE TOW TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE CAR START AGAIN IS TO MANUALLY SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, THE CAR ALMOST RAN OVER ME, ONCE WHEN I DIDNT APPLY THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON WHEN THE PERSON WAS MANUALLY PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL!!!! ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR SHAKES. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY INSPECTED IT. ONCE I CAME BACK THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, AND THAT THE SHAKING WAS DUE TO THE POWER OF THE MOTOR, THAT I NEEDED TO GET USE TO IT!! I'VE HAD TO ALSO REPLACE MY TIRES BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO WEAR OFF, AND I CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE OVER ANYTHING WITHOUT SWERVING. I'VE HAD THE CAR ALIGNED AND MY CAR STILL SWERVES/PULLS TO THE LEFT! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS CAR!! I CANT GET MY CAR FIXED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT! I AM NOW STUCK MAKING CAR PAYMENTS TO A LEMON CAR! I'VE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS ON THIS CAR ALREADY ONE I REPORTED TO THE MY INSURANCE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX IT. UNABLE TO KEEP CAR IN LANE. STEERING ISSUE
I HAVE OWNED MY CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS NOW. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY FOB NOT UNLOCKING MY CAR. I WOULD HAD TO PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES TO UNLOCK. THEN I ALSO STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN ON MY CAR(WITH THE PUSH START) BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS REALLY STIFF. I HAD TO PRESS HARD ON THE BRAKE IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY TURN ON MY CAR. RECENTLY I'VE HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON SPORADICALLY. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DURING MY DRIVES IN THE CITY. TWO DAYS AGO, I ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON MY CAR AND THE CAR BEGAN TO START, BUT CONTINUED TO MAKE THE IGNITION START SOUND FOR SEVERAL SECONDS--ABOUT 10 SECONDS-- THAN USUAL. THIS WAS OF COURSE NOT THE NORM, SO I PRESSED THE START UP BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE CAR. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON AGAIN, IT TURNED ON FINE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN. I WENT TO PEP BOYS AND MENEIKE TO CHECK THIS OUT AND THEY SAID THAT I HAD A P2096 PROBLEM. THIS CODE WAS FOLLOWED WITH THE DESCRIPTION AS FOLLOWS: POST CATALYST FUEL TRIM SYSTEM TOO LEAN BANK 1. ESSENTIALLY I WAS TOLD THAT THE RATIO OF OXYGEN AND FUEL , THE ENGINE TAKE IS OFF. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A LEAK THAT WOULD CAUSE THE LACK OF FUEL GOING INTO THE ENGINE, BUT WHEN THEY INVESTIGATED IT, THEY DIDN'T FIND A LEAK. AS OF NOW, I DON'T HAVE A REAL DIAGNOSIS FOR MY CAR. I'M NOT SURE IF ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS CORRELATE OR HAVE A DOMINO EFFECT ON EACH OTHER, BUT THE ISSUE WILL TAKE A WHILE TO TAKE CARE OF.
AT 16,000 MILES CAR WILL SIMPLY NOT TURN ON AGAIN. AAA HAS DONE TESTING OF BATTERY, STARTER, RECHARGING SYSTEM AND BATTERY DRAIN; ALL PASSED. DID SOME RESEARCH OF COMPLAINTS AND THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF SERIOUS, KNOWN ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THESE CARS (DRIVING THEMSELVES OFF THE ROAD, CATCHING FIRE). CALLED HYUNDAI AND THEY STATE NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES. GETTING RID OF IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (AFTER AAA COMES BACK OUT TO GET IT TO TURN ON AGAIN).
THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONSISTENTLY OVER-TORQUED THE WHEEL LUG NUT/BOLTS AND IT SEEMS THAT THE SITUATION IS GETTING WORSE. THE SPECIFICATION FOR THE LUG NUTS IS UP TP 79 FT-LBS.. THE LAST SERVICE BY THE DEALERSHIP TIGHTEN THEM TO 200-300 FT-LBS, OR MORE. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP DEFENDED THEIR WORK AND DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT A FT-LB WAS, NOT ALONE THE ELASTIC LIMIT OF THE BOLTS, NUTS AND ALLOY WHEELS. THEY SEEM TO THINK THAT THE CAR IS SAVE TO DRIVE, BUT CAN'T SAY WHY THEIR OVER-TORQUING MIGHT EVEN BE CONSIDERED A HAZARD . I POSE THAT THERE IS AN SYSTEMIC OVER-RELIANCE ON "TORQUE STICKS" ON IMPACT WRENCHES FOR TIGHTENING BOLTS. THEY DO NOT USE TORQUE WRENCHES. YOU SHOULD WATCH FOR LUG BOLT FAILURES BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SYSTEMATIC ISSUE. REGARDS, GEORGE BOSKOSH BSEE. MSMINE
WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A RAINY AND WINDY WEATHER WITH A SPEED OF 35-40 MPH ON A HIGHWAY I REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE IS SLIDING ON THE ROAD! IT REALLY SLID ON THE ROAD AND THE WIND PUSHED THE CAR TO THE LEFT. I WAS HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL SO HARD AND REDUCED MY SPEED A LITTLE BIT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I REMEMBER MANY OTHER SIMILAR MOMENTS I HAD EXPERIENCED. IN FACT, WHENEVER THERE IS A LITTLE BUMP IN FRONT OF ME AND I MOVE OVER IT THE CAR BECOMES VERY UNSTABLE AND I FEEL I CANNOT CONTROL IT FOR LESS THAN HALF A SECOND. IF I MOVE OVER MORE UNEVEN PARTS OF ROAD THE CAR BECOMES VERY UNSTABLE. THIS HAPPENS IF MY SPEED IS OVER 20MPH AND WITH SMALL BUMPS! AGAIN LAST NIGHT, RIGHT AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, I WAS STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION OF TWO HIGHWAYS. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I WAS TURNING LEFT WITH A SPEED LESS THAN 15MPH THE REAR WHEELS WERE SLIDING SO BAD THAT FOR A MOMENT I THOUGHT I WON'T BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND WILL DEFINITELY CRASH INTO SOMETHING! IT WAS AN AMAZINGLY SCARING EXPERIENCE. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR'S SUSPENSION.
VEHICLE FAILED TO START IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. EVENTUALLY AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS MOVING THE SHIFTER VEHICLE STARTED. THIS HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS. DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED ISSUE AS HAVING TO DO WITH A FAULTY RANGE SWITCH. I WAS PARKING MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT OF A STORE. I SLOWED DOWN AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. SOMEHOW THE BRAKES FAILED AND I HIT ANOTHER CAR. THE COLLISION STOPPED THE CAR. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 1 YEAR AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE.
UPDATE TO TICKET # 1119161 - 4 SEPARATE APPTS, WITH,90 PLUS DAYS ACCUMULATED TOTAL AT A HYUNDA SERVICE CENTER EXPANDING 21 MONTHS AND 15000 MILES. 43 DAYS AT CURRENT SERVICE DEPT WITH NO UPDATE, VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE DRIVING, ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS CONTINUE TO EXPAND AFTER INTERIOR WAS SOAKED FROM A CONFIRMED/REPAIRED DEFECT IN SUNROOF FRAME. BEYOND THE ABILITY OF SERVICE TECHNICIANS TO DIAGNOSE, ENGINEER INSPECTED AND CONFIRMED VEHICLE STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND MESSED UP INTERIOR JULY 2016 FROM SUNROOF LEAK, REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE BUT VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE DRIVING, IN ADDITION ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS CONTINUE TO DEVOLOP THAT HYUNDAI WILL NOT RESOLVE, VEHICLE WAS IN BUYOUT REVIEW WITH HYUNDAI BUT WAS STOPPED DUE TO MY COMPLAINT FILED WHICH SOUTH CAROLINA CONSUMER AFFAIRS REQUESTING A REPURCHASE THAT HYUNDAI DENIED. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE NOR AM I BEING TOLD WHAT'S GOING ON. IF TECHNICIAN CANT DIAGNOSE A CONFIRMED ISSUE BY THEIR ENGINEER THEN WHY IS VEHICLE STILL AT SERVICE CENTER AND WHY ARE THEY NOT CALLING TO ADVISE AFTER 43 DAYS.
THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY AROUND 1PM. I WAS HEADING HOME WHEN I APPROACHED A INTERSECTION WHEN A LADY COMING FROM A STREET ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS COMING OUT AND EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD A STOP SIGN SHE FAIL TO FULLY STOP AND ME HAVING NO TIME TO REACT I HIT THE MIDDLE OF THE CAR (T-BONE HER).
10/2015 VEHICLE STALLED, WHEN PUTTING CAR IN PARK AND TURNING ENGINE OFF, INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKERED UNTIL CAR DIED, WOULD NOT RESTART. INTERIOR SOAKED FROM HEADLINER DOWN WINDSHIELD, BEHIND DASH TO FLOOR, WATER MARKS DOWN DOOR WINDOWS, DOOR PANELS TO FLOOR, CARPET WET ROLLIN DOWN UNDER DASH, SEATS MOIST, INTERIOR GLOVEBOX MOIST. VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO HAVE CRACK IN PANORAMIC SUNROOF FRAME AND WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, SERVICE COULD NOT DUPLICATE STALLING. 12/2015 FILED A CLAIM WITH MANUFACTURER, VEHICLE DEAD OR STALLING CONTINUED, VEHICLE MILDEWED. 6/2016 ON INTERSTATE 70MPH CAR SHUT OFF STEERING LOCKED UP, THEN STARTED AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, ENGINEER CAME 7/2016 SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER FIRST SEEN MADE REPAIRS ATTACHED. 4/2017 VEHICLE STALLING AGAIN WHILE DIVING, DOES NOT START IMMEDIATELY BUT WILL USUALLY RESTART AFTER SITTING AWHILE. 52 PLUS DAYS AND CURRENTLY ATI SERVICE DEPT.SUNROOF OPENED AND CLOSES SPONTANEOUSLY, POWER SEATS WORK SPORADICALLY, DRIVER PASSENGER WINDOW OPENS SPONTANEOUSLY, REAR LIGHT ARE INTERMITTENTLY DIM.
MY 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA DID NOT START ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST MONTH. THE DASH LIGHTS AND INDICATORS CAME ON BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT CRANK OR MAKE ANY SOUND. EVENTUALLY AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS OVER 10 MINUTES, THE ENGINE STARTED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. ON ONE OTHER OCCASION AFTER STARTING, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF THE PARK POSITION.
FOR THE SIXTH TIME MY CAR WONT START.IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES AND IS VERY ANNOYING. I AM SICK OF THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THAT THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP FOR THEM OR THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED AND IT HAS BEEN FIXED FOR A CAMPAIGN. ALL MY ELECTRIC STUFF TURNS ON WITH NO PROBLEM. NOW I AM CURRENTLY MISSING A DAY OF WORK THAT IS GOING TO BE UNPAID.
I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I NOTICED MUCH LIKE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE THAT WHEN I HIT BUMPS OR POTHOLES OR UNEVEN ROADS, IT SEEMS TO SWAY. ALMOST FEELS LIKE YOU ARE LOSING CONTROL. I AM STARTING TO THINK THIS MIGHT BE A MAJOR ISSUE AND MIGHT RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. WHICH IN TURN MAY RESULT IN MAJOR LAWSUITS. THE CAR SEEMS TO IDLE MORE THAN IT SHOULD, CONSIDERING IT IS A 2013. I HAVE FELT IT IDLING HEAVILY AT DEAD STOPS WAITING AT A RED LIGHT, IN WHICH I WILL INCH UP AND THE IDLING STOPS. I'VE NOTICED THIS AFTER ONLY ABOUT 5K MILES ON THE CAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. THERE IS ALSO A WHINING BUILD-UP SOUND WHEN I HAVE A COLD START. I TURN ON THE ENGINE AND HEAR A SLIGHT WHINE FOR ABOUT 4-5SECS. IT DIDN'T DO THIS IN THE VERY BEGINNING. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR, IT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS AN ELECTRIC CAR BECAUSE IT WAS SO QUIET. NOW IT IDLES AND WHINES AT START-UP. THE CAR SHAKES WHEN IT IDLES AND THE ONLY TIME I HAVE FELT THAT MUCH SHAKING WAS IN MY DAD'S OLD TRUCK FROM THE 90'S.
BRAKES: AT 36K, I HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS WHICH MAY NOT BE UNCOMMON, HOWEVER, IT WAS THE BACK BRAKES. THE FRONT BRAKES HAD MORE THAN HALF THE LIFE LEFT ON IT AND THE BACK BRAKES WERE ALMOST BARE. ENGINE: IN SUMMER (JULY?) OF 2013, I CAME OUT FROM WORK, AFTER A FULL DAY OF THE CAR SITTING OUT IN THE SUN (APPROXIMATELY 85 WEATHER), I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE ENGINE AND IT CONTINUED TO TURN, BUT NOT WOULD NOT IGNITE/ START. AFTER TRYING IT FOR ABOUT 5MIN, I GAVE IT A BREAK AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10MIN. AFTER WHICH, I TRIED AGAIN AND IT WAS VERY HESITANT TO START (YOU COULD HEAR IT WANTED TO), THEN EVENTUALLY STARTED. I DROPPED IT OFF TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER (JULY?) 2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR SAT OUT IN THE 80 WEATHER IN THE SUN ALL DAY. I CAME OUT FROM WORK AND MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON; THIS TIME, THE ENGINE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CONTINUE TO TURN LIKE WHEN YOUR BATTERY IS DEAD. I CALLED ROADSIDE AND HE JUMPED THE CAR. HE ALSO CHECKED THE BATTERY AND SAID IT SHOULDN'T DO THAT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO DEAD. I AGAIN TOOK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO REPLICATE MY ISSUE, LEAVING IT IN THE SUN; NO LUCK. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AGAIN. I HAVEN'T SEEN THE ISSUE SINCE, BUT I AM WORRIED THAT A NEW CAR COULD EVEN HESITATE TO START LIKE THIS.
USED KEY FOB TO UNLOCK DOORS, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. HAD TO USE KEY TO UNLOCK DOORS. TRIED TO START CAR AND THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER. NO DASH LIGHTS, NO RADIO, CAR DID NOT START. INSPECTED BATTERY CABLES, NO CORROSION, NOT LOOSE. GOT IN CAR AND IT STARTED. THIS IS SECOND TIME TODAY IT HAS HAPPENED.
WOULD NOT START. MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS TO HYUNDAI ON LINE SINCE 2011. HYUNDAI IS IGNORING US. CAR WILL NOT START AND EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS...SEEM IT MAY BE A RANGE SWITCH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON UNEVEN ROADWAYS THE REAR OF THE CAR LIKES TO FISH TAIL..IE POT HOLES, ROUGH ROADS ETC.. THE FRONT OF THE CAR ALWAYS WANTS TO SWAY BACK AND FORTH ON ANY TYPE TO ROAD SURFACE AS IT FELLS LIKE THE CAR IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE ROAD. WINDY DAYS ARE EVEN WORST AND PASSING SEMI'S IS JUST AS BAD. YOU CONSISTENTLY HAVE TO FIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT SEEMS TO BE A UNSAFE CAR. WE NEED A RECALL TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM...ALSO MY STEERING WHEEL IS MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND POPS WHEN TURNING AND IT HAPPENS ALL DAY LONG
VEHICLE WILL NOT START DESPITE A CHARGED BATTERY AND FOLLOWING PROPER STARTING PROCEDURES. THE VEHICLE IS A PUSH-TO-START VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. AFTER A TIME (10-15 MINUTES), AND TRYING DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES, IT DOES START. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE HYUNDAI ELANTRA OWNERS, WHETHER IT IS PUSH-TO-START OR KEYED IGNITION.

MY CAR HAS 7000 MILES AND THE BRAKES GRIND EXCESSIVELY AND WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS 40 MPH OR HIGHER, THE CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATES SO HARD I AM AFRAID THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. LAST YEAR, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER (FAIRFAX HYUNDAI IN FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA) FOR THIS PROBLEM AND ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THIS WAS DUE TO RUST BUILDUP EVEN THOUGH MY CAR JUST HAD LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST NEEDED TO BRAKE HARD TO GET RID OF THE RUST. THIS HAS NOT HELPED AND I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED.

SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS THE VEHICLE SPORADICALLY WILL NOT START OR TURN OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN PUSHING THE IGNITION BUTTON. IT APPEARS TO ME THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OR THE IGNITION BUTTON. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET AS I WANTED TO CHECK TO SEE IF THERE WERE COMPLAINTS OR RECALLS. APPARENTLY MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-75 THE SWAYS SIDE TO SIDE. YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY FIGHT THE CAR FROM THE SWAYING AND IF THERE IS A BUMP OR UNEVEN PAVEMENT IT IS EVEN WORSE. IF YOU HIT A POTHOLE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD THE REAR OF THE CAR WILL JUMP OUT AND YOU FILL OUT OF CONTROL. THE STEERING IS LIKE AN 1980'S VEHICLE WITH ALL THE BACK AND FORTH ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS THE WORST DRIVING CAR I'VE EVER HAD ...PLEASE HELP FIX MY CAR AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT HAVE PROBLLEMS. THE HYUNDAI DEALER TOOK PICTURES AND SENT THEM TO THE MANUFACTURE. THEY REPLACED MY SUNROOF AFTER AN INVESTIGATION. I GOT MY CAR BACK A WEEK LATER.
I HAVE INFORMED MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW THAT THE FRONT BRAKES MAKE A CLATTERING NOISE AND DO NOT SEEM TO BRAKE THE CAR EFFECTIVELY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED WITH A LITTLE MORE PRESSURE THAN NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME SAID THAT THE BRAKES ARE FINE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ELANTRA OWNER WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SITUATION. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS OVER 60,000 MILES (OUT OF GENERAL WARRANTY) AND HYUNDAI WILL NOT EVEN RETURN MY E-MAILS. PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT WORK LESS THAN 5MPH CAR ACCELERATED AND HIT THE PARKING GARAGE WALL. REPORTED TO MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY, CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AFTER BODY SHOP. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING ON DIAGNOSTIC REPORT.
ON JUNE 23, 2015, I HIT A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD AS I WAS SLOWING TO STOP BEHIND SOMEONE AT A RED LIGHT. INSTEAD OF STOPPING, IT SLOWLY CONTINUED AND REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME DOING ABOUT $7,000 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY 2013 ELANTRA. THE DEALER FINALLY FINISHED THE REPAIR WORK AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME ON APPROXIMATELY JULY 31, 2015. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, THE ESC AND EPS LIGHTS WOULD GO ON INTERMITTENTLY AND STAY ON FOR A DAY OR SO BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER LAST THURSDAY, SEPT 27, 2015 TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND SET THE STEERING ANGLE SENSORS WHICH I HAD READ ABOUT HELPING ONE PERSON IN THIS BLOG. IT WAS SEEMINGLY NORMAL WHEN I TOOK IT TO THEM. THE CAR WARRANTY WAS VOIDED BEFORE I GOT IT DUE TO A PRIOR COLLUSION IN WHICH A PRIOR INSURANCE COMPANY WROTE IT OFF AS COSTING MORE TO FIX THAN IT WAS WORTH. A BODY SHOP PURCHASED IT AND DID THE REPAIRS AND IT IS NOW CLASSIFIED A RESTORED SALVAGE TITLE (HENCE NO MORE WARRANTY) EVEN THOUGH WAS INSPECTED BY THE STATE OF ARIZONA AND DEEMED COMPLETELY FIXED. I PAID TO HAVE THE COMPUTER RESET AND THE STEERING ANGLE SENSORS ADJUSTED. THE DEALER BELIEVED THIS WOULD FIX IT. TWO DAYS LATER THE ESC AND EPS LIGHTS WENT BACK ON AND HAVE STAYED ON FOR 4 DAYS NOW. I HAVE A CODE READER AND THERE ARE NO FAULT OR ERROR CODES TO CLEAR BUT THE LIGHTS STAY ON. I AM SOMEWHAT CONVINCED THAT THE STEERING COLUMNS THAT HOUSE THE STEERING ANGLE SENSORS ARE FAULTY. WHEN THEY MALFUNCTION, IT MAKES THE EPS SHUT DOWN. A RECALL TO INCLUDE THESE WOULD BE GREAT. I CANNOT AFFORD ANY EXPLORATORY REPAIRS AT THIS TIME AND CANNOT DRIVE THE 2013 CAR. PLEASE HELP!

WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WILL HAVE A SLIGHT LOCK TO IT THAT WILL BE UNLOCKED BY OVER-CORRECTING THE WHEEL. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN MARCH AND WAS LOOKED AT BY HYUNDAI WHO SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THAT WHAT WE WERE FEELING WAS COMMON IN AN ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM. IN OUR IGNORANCE WE ACCEPTED THEIR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME WORSE SINCE THEN, ON 5/23/15 AS I WAS DRIVING THE PROBLEM WAS SO BAD THAT IT FELT AS IF THE WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP ENTIRELY AND WAS POINTED IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DITCH, I CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT HAD TO USE MORE FORCE THAN ANY PREVIOUS TIME AND IN DOING SO THE CAR JERKED INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE, HAD A VEHICLE BEEN IN THE OPPOSITE LANE I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM HEAD ON. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD AS HARD OF A LOCKUP SINCE THEN HOWEVER WE HAVE NOT GONE OVER 55 SINCE THEN EITHER. IN THE CITY AT LOWER SPEEDS OF 25-45 YOU CAN STILL FEEL IT LOCKING UP AT TIMES HOWEVER IT IS MUCH MORE EASILY CORRECTED. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS AT ANY SPEED AND DISTANCE, BUT ON 5/23 WAS THE WORST INCIDENT YET AND I EXPECT THAT IT WILL GET WORSE UNTIL IT IS PROPERLY CORRECTED. HYUNDAI THOUGH SAYS THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND ITS ALL PART OF THE NORMAL OPERATIONS OF AN ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM, I HOWEVER AM NOT CONVINCED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THE CONTACT ALSO CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE VEHICLE BEING DIFFICULT TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTO OTHER GEARS AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS PROGRESSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
