THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING FACILITY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT ARM AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE EYES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 7 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WENT OVER A CURB AND FRACTURED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE AND POSSIBLY BE THE AXLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE GEAR SHIFT IN MY AUTOMATIC DRIVE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WILL NOT SHIFT BACK INTO PARK OCCASSIONALY. WITH SOME TRYING IT HAS GONE BACK INTO PARK OR USING THE SHIFT LOCK. I ASSUME THAT THIS COULD CAUSE SOME POTENTIAL DANGER HAD I NOT BEEN ON A FLAT SERVICE OR IN AN AREA WHERE I COULD TRY TO GET IT TO GO BACK IN TO PARK. LUCKILY I WAS STATIONARY ON A LEVEL LOT DURING THE 5 TIMES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 55K MILES.
REPEATEDLY WHITE CLOUD SMOKE FROM TAIL PIPE WHEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATING FROM 20 TO 40 MILES/HR. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN ENCOUNTERED BY OTHER SAME MODEL CAR OWNERS AS I FOUND ON INTERNET. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE CAUSE SOME THEORIES - OIL OR COOLANT BURNING FROM WORN-OUT VALVE RINGS, OR WATER CONDENSATION POSSIBLY FROM MUFFLER LEAKING. SEEMS OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS, SUCH AS ACCENT, HAVE ALSO SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS DONE ONLY 30K MILES. OTHERS HAD SAME PROBLEM AT AS LOW AS 14K MILES.

THE GEAR SHIFT IN AN AUTOMATIC DRIVE ELANTRA CAR WILL NOT SHIFT BACK INTO PARK OCCASSIONALY. WITH SOME TRYING IT HAS GONE BACK INTO PARK. THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGERS TO SOMEONE WHO STOPS ON A HILL AND CANNOT MANUEVER THE GEAR SHIFT BACK INTO PARK. I WAS STATIONARY ON A LEVEL LOT BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED TO ME AND BOTH TIMES WERE IN A PARKING LOT. THIS OCCURRED 2 IN THE LAST 4 DAYS AND THE CAR HAS A LITTLE LESS THAN 75,000 MILES.
TAKATA RECALLL. MY CAR DOES NOT CRANK, BUT THE DASH LIGHTS UP AS IF IT IS GOING TO CRANK. MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TRYING TO CRANK IT.

PARKING LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF, CAR WON'T START WITHIN MINUTES/SECONDS LATER, HAD 7 ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMP START ME IN TWO MONTHS, PLUS OTHERS FROM SECURITY GUARDS, ETC. MY CAR IS ON RECALL FOR THESE PROBLEMS, JUST MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T, THE HYUNDAI-IT DIES WITHIN SECONDS.IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM WAITING IN MY CAR, NO ENGINE ON, WHEN I RUN THE RADIO ENGINE OFF, ALWAYS AFTER THE ENGINE IS OFF, WITH OR WITHOUT RADIO PLAYING OR EVERYTHING IS SHUT OFF, IT HAPPENS--MY PARKING LIGHTS STAY ON UNLESS I GET OUT OF THE CAR, OPEN THE DOOR, AND LOCK IT IMMEDIATELY IF I TAKE A FEW STEPS AND COME BACK TO LOCK IT, IT'S ALREADY DEAD, HAS LEFT ME AT WORK, SCHOOL, IN MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, EVERYWHERE, ANYWHERE, ENGINE CUTS OF AND ON WHEN TAKING OFF OR MAKING A SLOW CURVE, CAR DIES WHILE PARKED DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD APPROVE MY ISSUES TO BE FIXED BECAUSE NO RECALL ON MY VIN # BUT I HAVE NO CAR HALF THE TIME ENGINE CUTS OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES GRIND STRANGE NOISE. *TR
ON JULY 11, 2016 HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEREIN THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE STERNUM. DRIVER REAR ENDED A VEHICLE WHICH WAS STOPPED ON THE ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY.
OWNED CAR SINCE NEW. HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES FOUR TIMES. EACH TIME WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND. EACH TIME WITH ONLY 5000 TO 15000 MILES THE TIRES WILL GET SIDEWALL BUBBLES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY RANGE INHIBITOR. IT WILL OCCASIONALLY PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT IS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS.
THE FRONT AXLES ARE LOOSE, MAKING A CLICKING NOISE EACH TIME THE CAR ACCELERATES OR DECELERATES. SAFETY ISSUE MAY RESULT IF THE AXLE BECOMES LOOSE ENOUGH TO FALL OFF THE CHASSIS.

ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, MY CAR WOULD STALL OUT DURING LEFT TURNS ( MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS) AND WHILE ACCELERATING ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO STALLING. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE/ DIAGNOSTICS. I WAS TOLD IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE ELANTRA TO SUCK UP TO 1QT OF OIL PER 1000 MILES! DUE TO THE MECHANICS OF THE CAR, IT COULD STALL OUT WHILE TURNING IF LOW ON OIL. I WAS DUE FOR MY REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND IT WAS COMPLETED DURING THIS SERVICE AT WHICH TIME THEY STATED I WAS 2 QTS LOW !! IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I COME IN EVERY 2000 MILES TO HAVE IT CHECKED. MY CONCERN IS -WITHOUT WARNING LIGHTS, DO I HAVE TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TO LET ME KNOW MY OIL IS LOW ????
BRAKING DIFFICULTIES AND AIR BAGS STRUCTURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE INDICATOR CURRENTLY REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER (RICK CASE HYUNDAI DULUTH, 3180 SATELLITE BLVD NW, DULUTH, GA, 30096, 855-254-5290) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPOINTMENT WAS NOT SCHEDULED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TRIED TO RESET THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CLOCK SPRING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUTSIDE OF THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE TRIP RESET BUTTON DOES NOT RESET AND THE NUMBER OF MPG GOING CRAZY AND NOW I HAVE THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH ON SUDDENLY AND STAYED ON. I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOID OR WONT WORK ON A ACCIDENT. SAFETY. THIS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
OVER A PERIOD OF 1-2 DAYS, VEHICLE STEERING BECAME " MORE HEAVY" - IN OTHER WORDS -- MORE RESISTANCE IN THE STEERING --- IT REQUIRED A LITTLE MORE EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE CONDITION STILL EXISTS
MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON APRIL 9TH 2016 IN HER 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. . BOTH VEHICLES WERE AT A DEAD STOP AT AN INTERSECTION BEFORE EITHER OF THEM STARTED MOVING. MY DAUGHTER WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TURNING, BOTH OF WHICH WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. MY DAUGHTERS CAR HIT THE FRONT FENDER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE CAUSING A BENT WHEEL AND A SMALL DENT TO THE FENDER. MY DAUGHTERS HYUNDAI, TOTALED. EVERY AIRBAG IN THE HYUNDAI DEPLOYED, INCLUDING THE BACK SEAT WHICH SEEMED STRANGE SINCE IT WAS A FRONTAL CRASH. THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T GO IN TO ANY OTHER GEAR IT WAS STUCK IN DRIVE. THE HOOD WAS SMASHED UP TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR WAS OVER $12,000 THERE HAS TO BE SOME FAULTY PART(S) OR EQUIPMENT ON THE CAR TO CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE AT SUCH LOW SPEEDS. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN A CRASH IN A HYUNDAI. I WROTE TO HYUNDAI ABOUT SAFETY CONCERNS OF THEIR HYUNDAI ELANTRAS, THEIR RESPONSE WAS UNACCEPTABLE: "WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE DESIGN OF THE 2013 ELANTRA AND WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY DISAPPOINTMENT THIS HAS CAUSED YOU. THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO ALL APPROPRIATE PARTIES WITHIN HYUNDAI FOR REVIEW, INCLUDING HYUNDAI MANAGEMENT." REALLY HYUNDAI! PEOPLE CAN BE SEVERELY INJURED OR DIE IN THESE VEHICLES WHICH I FEEL HYUNDAI NEEDS TO BE A LITTLE MORE CONCERNED.
OWNED VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS, HAVE BEEN NOTICING A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE THAT IS THE RESULT OF THE POOR SUSPENSION. THE MIL CAME ON TODAY HINTING TO POSSIBLE SENSOR ISSUES, THE VEHICLE ALSO CONSTANTLY SHAKES AND TREMBLES WHEN IDLE. THE CORE OF THE PROBLEMS APPEARS TO BE THE RESULT OF POOR SUSPENSION AS THE VEHICLE ROCKS UP AND DOWN AFTER HITTING ANY IDEA SPEED BUMP, HILL OR POTHOLE. IT PUTS DRIVERS AT A DIFFICULT POSITION SINCE THE ROCKING OF THE VEHICLE CAUSES IT TO JUMP OVER TO THE RIGHT WHEN YOU ARE ON A HIGHWAY. PLEASE SERIOUS LOOK INTO THIS. EVERY DEALERSHIP IS ADVISING THIS IS NORMAL BUT NO OTHER VEHICLE DOES THIS.
I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE AN ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRE BECAUSE OF A BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL. I HAD THE SERVICE DONE AT MY DEALERS, FROM WHOM I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN NOVEMBER 2012. IT IS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. THE DEALER KINDLY CHECKED WITH YOU AND WAS TOLD THAT IT DID NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY REPLACEMENT CREDIT. THEY SHOWED ME THE CURRENT WARRANTY INFORMATION WHICH SPECIFICALLY LISTS 'BULGE' AS A ROAD HAZARD NOT COVERED. HOWEVER, I AM ATTACHING A COPY OF THE WARRANTY RECEIVED WITH THE CAR AND YOU WILL NOTE THAT 'BULGE' IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXCLUSIONS. IT APPEARS THAT THE FREQUENCY OF 'BULGES' BECAME SO GREAT THAT YOU FOUND IT NECESSARY TO INCLUDE THEM IN YOUR EXCLUSION LIST.
I HAVE TAKEN MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA INTO RED MCCOMBS HYUNDAI IN SAN ANTONIO TX. ON I-10 WEST SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WIT THE STRUTS. AND THEY DID WORK ON THE SURGING PART OF THE ENGINE BUT IT STILL SURGES WHEN SPEEDING UP. I WAS TOLD BY FIRESTONE THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND I WAS TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS HERE IN KERRVILLE, TX THE SAME THING BUT THEY SAID I WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND SHOULD TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND INSIST THEY REPAIR IT. SO I'LL TRY ONE MORE TIME. THE FRONT END MAKES A LOUD CLICKING SOUND WHEN TAKING OFF AND FEELS LIKE IT BOTTOMS OUT WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP. IT IS A BIT NERVE RACKING. THE LAST MECHANIC TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON 3/14/2016. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MILES AN HOUR MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED SENDING GLASS ALL OVER MYSELF AND IN MY CAR LUCKILY I HAD A HAT ON WICH SHIELDED MY EYES AND MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE INITIAL FAMILIAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED CAR FEB/2015 FROM A DEALER CAR HAD 69245 MILES ON IT DROVE MAY HAVE MISSED ONE OIL CHANGE IN BETWEEN THAT TIME AND NOW THE MOTOR HAS A LOUD TICKING INSIDE AND IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED BY DEALER IT NEEDS A NEW MOTOR. I DRIVEN OLDER CARS A LOT LONGER AND MISSED A SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND CAR IS STILL RUNNING WITH NO MOTOR ISSUES OF COURSE THAT WAS A CHEVROLET. THE NEW CARS WONT LAST AT ALL IF YOU MISS A OIL CHANGE DATE.
SUBJECT: 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GLS TROUBLE WITH TPMS SENSORS COMMENTS: I UNDERSTAND YOU WANTED THESE IN ALL NEW CARS. WHILE THAT IS GREAT IT'S COSTING SOME CONSUMER'S WAY TO MUCH MONEY AND HEADACHES INCLUDING MYSELF. THEY AREN'T REGULATE TO FINE SPEC'S OF MANUFACTURING THEM AFTERMARKET OR OEM. ALONG WITH TIRES INCLUDED. I CAN BUY AFTERMARKET CHEAPER OR TIRES CHEAPER ONLINE AND SHOULD HAVE THAT CHOICE. I BOUGHT NEW SENSORS FROM MR. TIRE FORMALLY KOST TIRE MY BILL IS ABOUT $386.00 AND THEY DON'T WORK BEEN THERE 4-5 TIMES TRYING TO RESET AND TO NO AVAIL. TOLD ME TO TAKE TO A DEALER BUT THAT'S ANOTHER COST TO ME TOO. I'M NOT ALONE IN THIS PROBLEM. I SUGGEST GET RID OF THEM OR GET ON THE BALL AND FIGURE IT OUT. COSTING ME A LOW INCOME PERSON MONEY AND STILL COSTING. DO NOT MAKE THEM PART OF AN INSPECTION TILL ALL BUGS ARE OUT. THANK-YOU.
SAME ISSUE AS MANY OTHERS. THE CAR RIDES VERY ROUGH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. I HAVE HAD ONE INSTANCE WHERE THE FRONT LEFT TIRE BULGED AND EVENTUALLY WENT FLAT ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT. TURNED OUT THE RIM WAS ALSO DENTED. THE SECOND OCCASION WAS WHEN MY DAUGHTER RAN OVER A POTHOLE AND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WENT FLAT AND THE RIM BENT. I FILED A CASE WITH HYUNDAI AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH TE DEALER TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE CAR IS FOR MY NEW DRIVER DAUGHTER BUT I FEEL IT IS VERY UNSAFE FOR HER TO USE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 ELANTRA GT. AROUND FEBRUARY 4, 2016 I HIT A POTHOLE, ON MARYLAND ROUTE 175, DUE TO ROAD WORK COMBINED WITH INCLEMENT WEATHER. A DISTURBING SOUND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE OCCURRED AFTER CONTACT WITH THE POTHOLE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE TIRES AND RIMS ALL SEEMED WELL. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2016 (AFTER BEING STATIONARY SINCE THE INCIDENT), A LARGE GOLF BALL SIZE BULGE APPEARED ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND A SMALLER ONE ON THE REAR RIGHT TIRE. THE TIRES HAVE ONLY 7,815 MILES ON THEM. DUE TO THE BULGES IN BOTH RIGHT TIRES I FEAR A BLOWOUT COULD OCCUR IN ONE OR BOTH TIRES, LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR, BEFORE SAFELY BEING DRIVING THE 15 MILES IN CITY TRAFFIC TO THE DEALERSHIP.
I 2/2/2016WHEN PARKING HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2013 IT SUDDENLY BARRELED FORWARD COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL OVER THE CEMENT MARKER AND SLAMMED INTO A TREE. PER INSURANCE INSTRUCTIONS CAR WAS TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALER.AFTER A VERY EXPENSIVE FRONT END REPAIR THE SERVICE DEPT "TESTED" THE CAR AND PRONOUNCED IT IN GOOD CONDITION-NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR.THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS HE DOES NOT KNOW OF ANY OTHER 2013 ELANTRA HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I WAS BRAKING TO MAKE A TURN ON A AN ICY ROAD WHEN THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT PRESS IN PROPERLY - SORT OF LIKE IT WAS FIGHTING BACK. I THOUGHT IT WAS A RESPONSE BY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL BECAUSE OF THE ICE, BUT THEN LATER THE SAME DAY, SLOWING DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SAME SOUND OCCURRED AGAIN ON A COMPLETELY DRY ROAD SURFACE. THE SOUND CONTINUED WHILE BRAKING FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP WHILE BRAKING ON DRY ROADS. I EVEN TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKES WITH DIFFERENT FORCE - LIGHTLY AND SUDDENLY - TO THE SAME RESULT. STOPPING DISTANCE AND BRAKING QUALITY WERE COMPROMISED - IT DEFINITELY TOOK ME LONGER TO STOP SO I AM VERY THANKFUL I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I WILL ALSO NOTE THAT THE SOUND OCCURS TOWARDS THE END OF A LONG DRIVE (APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR), NOT RUNNING BRIEF ERRANDS. SO IT IS AS IF THE CAR MUST BE RUNNING HOT FIRST AND THEN THE ISSUE REPLICATES.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAS BLOWN OUT TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR. THE CAR WAS PARKED, AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING THE LOW TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER STOPPING TO GET AIR I DISCOVERED THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT, AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A FLAT TIRE. IN TOTAL, THIS IS THE FOURTH OR FIFTH TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS TIRE DURING THE DURATION OF THE CAR'S LIFE, AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN DUE TO HITTING ANYTHING OR RUNNING OVER ANYTHING. IT JUST MYSTERIOUSLY HAPPENS. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN OCT 2012 AND THERE ARE CURRENTLY ABOUT 57000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE IN TERMS OF COST AND TIME, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, I CONSTANTLY FEAR AND DREADFULLY ANTICIPATE THE NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE A FLAT AND NEVER FEEL COMPLETELY SAFE WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE WAS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE AND TIRE WAS 20,000.
2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ON DECEMBER 24, 2013, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED ON A ROAD WITH A 35 MPH SPEED LIMIT. WITHOUT ANY DEVIATION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JUMPED TO 60 MPH. WHILE AT THE SUBSEQUENT STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE'S RPM'S REMAINED HIGH (APPROXIMATELY OVER 5,500 RPM). THE ELANTRA WAS THEN DRIVEN TO A HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, RPM'S CLIMBED TO 5,000 (WHILE IN "PARK"). NO OTHER MODULES WERE BEING USED AT THIS TIME - INCLUDING CRUISE CONTROL OR "ECO BOOST." THE VEHICLE'S RPM RATE REMAINED AT AROUND 2,500-3,000 ONCE PUT INTO "DRIVE", RESULTING IN THE SPEED REACHING APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH. THIS IS WITHOUT THE FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND TRAVELING OVER SMALL HILLS AND GRADE VARIANTS. SUMMARY: WHILE 2013 ELANTRA IS IN PARK, RPM'S REST AT 5,000. WHILE IN DRIVE, RPM''S BOTTOM OUT AT 2,500-3,000, DISALLOWING THE ABILITY TO NATURALLY STOP. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO RESIDE IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE COMPONENTS LOCATED THEREIN. I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2015. I WAS LOVING THIS CAR UNTIL I WAS ON WET/BUMPY ROADS. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE HYUNDAI STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE.WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WAS GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. YOU FEEL ALL THE BUMPS IN THE ROAD. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS CAR. MOST OF MY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY. DRIVING ON WET ROADS COMING TO A STOP OR HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE CAR SWERVES AND MAKE ALOUD GRABBING NOISE. SOUNDS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE COMING UP THROUGH THE FLOOR. I LOVE THE CAR BUT DON'T LOVE THE WAY IT DRIVES. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PAD WITH A FULL ALIGNMENT. THIS VEHICLE STILL DRIVES THE SAME WAY EVEN WHEN ALL THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED.

SOUNDS EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS THAT LED TO THE RECENT SONATA RECALL. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED: I WAS SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT WHEN I HEARD A STRANGE CLICKING/KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE A VERY ROUGH IDLE, SHAKING NOTICEABLY. THE ENGINE THEN STALLED. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS OF TRYING, I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN BUT STILL EXPERIENCED A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD LOOKED AT MY CAR, THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE BEARINGS HAD FAILED, AND THAT WHEN THEY DON'T WORK PROPERLY TO REDUCE FRICTION IN THE ENGINE, METAL SHARDS CAN GET INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. AS I UNDERSTAND IT FROM READING ABOUT THE RECENT CLASS-ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI, THIS SOUNDS VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE SONATA ENGINES THAT ULTIMATELY LED TO THE RECALL. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR ABOUT THE WARRANTY (I'M STILL UNDER THE FULL 5 YEAR/60K MILES CPO WARRANTY), BUT WANTED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE SINCE WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD IS SO SIMILAR TO THE ISSUES WITH THE SONATA ENGINES.
