THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SPRAY GUM OUT INSIDE OF THE FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE PLATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED IN THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE., THE DRIVER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES WHICH HE RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION ON THE SCENE AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK OPTIMO H426 TIRES, SIZE: P205/55R16. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CONTACT COULD FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,300. THE DOT WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE INDICATOR LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OFF AND ON BECAUSE THE DOOR IS BEING INDICATED AS OPEN. IT SUBSEQUENTLY UNLOCKS THE DOORS AND TURNS THE DOME LIGHTS REPEATEDLY ON AND OFF AGAIN. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT OTHER CAR FUNCTIONS TURN OFF IF THE DOOR IS "OPEN". *TR
MY DAUGHTER HAS A HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2013 WITH 6700 MILES, SHE WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH ON A FREEWAY AND HER PASSENGER FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. SHE LOST CONTROL AND RAN INTO THE CONCRETE BARRIER ON THE FREEWAY. SHE HAS FRAME AND BODY DAMAGE TO HER FRONT END. THANK GOD SHE IS OK EXCEPT FOR HER COLLAR BONE AREA BEING BRUISED FROM HER SEAT BELT. SHE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING BEFORE THE BLOW OUT. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. NO TIRE WITH ONLY 6700MILES SHOULD HAVE A BLOW OUT LIKE THIS ONE DID. THE CAR HAS NEXEN CP671 TIRES. I AM WAITING ON NEXEN TIRE COMPANY TO CALL ME BACK. HYUNDAI REALLY HAS NOT OFFERED ANY HELP. *TR
SECOND SIDE WALL TIRE BLOW OUT ON HYUNDAI ELANTRA WAS DRIVING ON A PRETTY TYPICAL ROAD (BUMPS ETC) BUT NO HUGE CHUCK HOLES AND TIRE SIDEWALL GAVE OUT. *TR
THEY CAR DRIVES FINE UNTIL YOU HIT A ANY SORT OF BUMP OR HOLE IN THE ROAD. WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE BACK END WIGGLES AND IN THE RAIN IT IS MUCH WORSE. IT IS EVEN WORSE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH DRIVERS FACING SIMILAR ISSUES. I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL ONE DAY LOSE CONTROL. I DO NOT FEEL LIKE I AM IN CONTROL OF THE CAR, I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS FINE AND THAT IS JUST HOW THE CAR DRIVES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS, THE SERVICE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE MADE A METALLIC LOW GROANING NOISE WHICH FOLLOWED BY A ABNORMAL DELAYED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER THEY CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,500.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR. IT WAS A DARK ROAD IN THE NIGHT. PERHAPS SHE DIDN'T SEE THE STOP SIGN AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE COMING FROM RIGHT HAND SIDE, GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION MY WIFE WAS GOING. MY WIFE CRASHED THE OTHER VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. IT WAS SERIOUS CRASH IN WHICH THE ENTIRE FRONT PORTION OF THE CAR IS DAMAGED. BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT COME OUT. MY WIFE HAD HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD AN INJURY. TIRES THAT CAME FACTORY ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT LAST AS LONG AS THE TIRE WAS RATED FROM THE MANUFACTURES WEBSITE. THEY ARE NEARLY BALD, DUE TO HIGHWAY DRIVING, AND THE MANUFACTURE AND CAR COMPANY WILL NOT HONOR THE TREAD LIFE WARRANTY. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOT AN OWNER WARRANTY BECAUSE I DID NOT PURCHASE THE TIRES. THIS IS CONFUSING TO ME, ONLY BECAUSE I BOUGHT A $24,000 CAR! CONTINENTAL WAS CONTACTED BY ME TO DISCUSS THIS, AND I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. NEITHER IS WILLING TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THE TIRES DID NOT LAST LIKE THEY HAD ADVERTISED. WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT. MY CAR SUDDENLY JUMPED AND ACCELERATED AND SLAMMED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. THE AIR BAG ALSO DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2014, IT HAD 41053 MILES ON IT. AS I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS RAINING VERY HARD AND I NOTICED THAT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE CAR IN MY LANE; MY CAR WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT, NOT ONLY THAT, I HIT A BUMP OR MANHOLE AND THE BAD END OF THE CAR FISHTAILED SO BAD THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR THAT WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE. I WAS DRIVING A FEW DAYS LATER, I HIT ANOTHER POTHOLE AND THE CAR DID THAT SAME THING BUT THIS TIME THE ROADS WERE DRY. AT THIS POINT, I REALIZE THAT THE FIRST INCIDENT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ROADS BEING WET, IT WAS THE SUSPENSION ON THE CAR THAT'S CAUSES THE CAR TO PULL TO ONE SIDE AND FOR IT TO FISHTAIL THE WAY IT DOES. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I REALIZED THAT HYUNDAI OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOMETIME BUT THE HYUNDAI CORPORATION FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A PROBLEM; THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. TO BE HONEST, I'M A LITTLE FRIGHTEN TO DRIVE MY CAR; HYUNDAI CORPORATION NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A SUSPENSION PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL AND THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. *TR
2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *TA
ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2014, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING OUR 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA (PURCHASED JANUARY 2014) TO SCHOOL ON A SURFACE STREET. SHE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND UPON ACCELERATING HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY INTO A PARKING SPACE. SHE NOTICED THAT SHE HAD A FLAT TIRE. SHE CALLED ME IMMEDIATELY AND I SHOWED UP TO CHANGE THE TIRE. I NOTICED A LARGE HOLE IN THE OEM HANKOOK OPTIMO TIRE AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (HYUNDAI INLAND EMPIRE) FOR REPAIR. THE HOLE WAS TOO BIG TO REPAIR AND I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TIRE. TWO HOURS LATER THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME AND STATED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE RIM BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED. THE COST OF REPLACEMENT WAS $399 FOR THE RIM AND $153.67 FOR THE TIRE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THE RIM WAS CRACKED. THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT MECHANISM TO CRACK THE RIM. THIS WAS A SIMPLE FLAT TIRE ON A HIGH TRAFFIC, 30 - 40 MPH STREET, AT 7:30 IN THE MORNING. BOTH OF MY DAUGHTERS WERE IN THE CAR AND BOTH CONFIRM THAT THEY HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. THERE WAS NO TIRE SIDEWALL DAMAGE AND NO EVIDENCE OF RIM DAMAGE. I HAVE OWNED 8 CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL FLAT TIRES, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CRACKED RIM. THIS IS AN 8 MONTH OLD CAR WITH LOW MILES AND THERE IS NO OTHER REASON FOR A CRACKED $399 RIM, OTHER THAN MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND 12 OTHER REPORTED CASES OF CRACKED RIMS IN THE 2013 ELANTRA. AS A PARENT, WHO PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR HIS DAUGHTER BASED ON THE SAFETY RATING, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE TIRE BLOW-OUT AND THE CRACKED RIM. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI, BOTH CUSTOMER CARE AND THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO COVER THE COST OF THE RIM OR ADMIT ANY DEFECT OR FAULT. A NINE MONTH OLD RIM SHOULD NOT CRACK WITH A SIMPLE FLAT TIRE. THE FACT THAT 12 OTHER CASES HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS IS SUBSTANTIAL. *TR
THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR MY WIFE ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND I DRIVE IT VERY LITTLE. WHEN I HAVE, THE CAR SEEMS TO WONDER REAL BAD, MUCH WORSE ON NEW ROADS. IT IS ALMOST LIKE IT FLOATS SIDE TO SIDE. THE TIRES THAT CAME WITH MY ELANTRA ((HANKOOK H426 215/45 17) HAD TO BE REPLACED IN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS AS THE SIDE WALL WAS BULGING DANGEROUSLY. MY SON WHO HAS A 2010 ELANTRA WITH HANKOOK TIRES HAD A BLOW-OUT WHILE DRIVING. I THINK THESE HANKOOK TIRES ARE DANGEROUSLY UNRELIABLE. THANK YOU. *TR
COMING TO THE END OF A PASSING LANE AT ABOUT 60 MPH, CARS GOT CONGESTED, BRAKE HARD AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR, STARTED TO GO INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. JUST ARRIVED AT MY RESIDENCE WHEN POWER STEERING STOPPED. HAD TO FORCE CAR TO TURN IN MY DRIVE. ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL AND ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHTS ON. DELIVERED CAR TO DEALER ON 8/19/2014. DEALER HAD CAR FOR THREE DAYS FOR REPAIR. NEW STEERING COLUMN WITH ANGLE SENSORS HAD TO BE INSTALLED AND ADJUSTED. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS ON THIS SITE. *TR

UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF PARK. THE ELECTRICAL WORKED (RADIO, WINDOWS). I INSERT THE KEY AND TURN BUT THE CAR WONT TURN OVER (START). I HAVE TO USE THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE TO START THE CAR. THE PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND THERE IS NO PATTERN.
WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A INTERSECTION AND T BONED A PICK UP TRUCK, EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO FRONT END OF THE ELANTRA FRONT END,[ AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON THE ELANTRA ] EVEN THOUGH THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS TORE OFF. DRIVER DOOR DAMAGED,WINDSHIELD CRACKED BOTH FRONT FENDERS DAMAGED, PLUS UNKNOWN IF TRANSMISSION AND OR TRANSAXLE HAS BEEN DAMAGED UNTIL THE CAR CAN BE REPAIRED. HYUNDAI HAS STOP ANY REPAIRS UNTIL THEY SEND A HYUNDAI INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE CAR, WHICH THEY SAY COULD TAKE UP TO 6 TO 8 WEEKS TO CHECK IT. *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING IN A REMOTE AREA AND WHILE GOING DOWN A HILL THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM ALERT CAME ON. THERE WAS NO PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD DUE TO GUARD RAILS, SO I SLOWED DOWN AND CONTINUED DOWN THE HILL UNTIL I COULD PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE AND THIS CAR HAS NO SPARE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS NOT COMPLETELY FLAT AND A NAIL WAS SEEN IN A REPAIRABLE AREA OF THE TREAD ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDES FREE ROAD SERVICE, BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE, I HAD NO CHOICE EXCEPT TO USE THE PROVIDED TIRE REPAIR AND INFLATION KIT. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE FOLLOWED AND THE TIRE WAS INFLATED TO 32 PSI AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS. I DISCONNECTED THE TIRE REPAIR AIR PUMP FROM THE VALVE STEM AND MY WIFE WAS ABOUT TO REPLACE THE VALVE STEM CAP WHEN THE TIRE EXPLODED AND FORCE FROM THE AIR KNOCKED HER TO THE GROUND AND ONTO THE ROADWAY. SHE SKINNED HER KNEES AND HAD A HEADACHE FOR HOURS AFTER THIS. THE FORCE OF THE TIRE EXPLOSION ALSO SHATTERED THE WHEEL WELL PLASTIC LINER. HAD THE TIRE EXPLOSION BEEN ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE MY WIFE WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN GRAVELY INJURED. THE LOUD SOUND FROM THE TIRE EXPLODING GOT THE ATTENTION OF A RANCH CREW REPAIRING FENCES IN THE AREA. THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. ONE OF THE CREW MEMBERS OFFERED US USE OF HIS PHONE TO CALL FOR HELP. WE SPENT 2 HOURS IN THE HEAT ARRANGING FOR A TOW AND WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST TIRE SHOP THAT HAD THE CORRECT SIZE TIRE FOR SALE. THIS WAS OVER 25 MILES AWAY IN PINETOP, AZ. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI NUMEROUS TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT FOR THEM TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND INJURY TO MY WIFE CAUSED BY THEIR TIRE REPAIR KIT WITHOUT ANY REASONABLE RESPONSE FROM THEM. IN MY OPINION, THEIR TIRE REPAIR KIT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI, AND I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED. *TR
ON JULY 18, 2014, MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA RAN INTO A SUBWAY RESTAURANT AT 12150 S. CICERO, ALSIP, IL. I WAS GOING INTO THE SUBWAY PARKING LOT, MY GOAL WAS TO PARK, BUT MY CAR DID NOT STOP WHEN I PUT ON MY BRAKES. MY CAR KEPT GOING; IT DROVE OVER THE SIDEWALK, THROUGH THE SCRUBS, AND HIT THE BUILDING HEAD ON. HITTING THE BUILDING IS WHAT STOPPED MY VEHICLE, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I THEN PUT ON THE BRAKES, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND BACKED OFF THE BUILDING, BACKING INTO THE PARKING PLACE THAT I WAS ORIGINALLY GOING INTO TO PARK. ONCE MY CAR WAS PARKED, IT BEGAN TO SMOKE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND THE SUBWAY BUILDING, CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY, STATE FARM AND MY SON. THE 2 EMPLOYEES IN THE SUBWAY, CALLED THE POLICE AND THE SUBWAY RESTAURANT OWNER. *TR
WE PURCHASED THE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA BRAND NEW IN DEC 2013. THE CAR NOW HAS APPROX 9,200 ON JULY 31, 2014, WENT TO MAKE A TURN AND SEVERAL ALARMS WENT OFF ON THE CAR. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE MY TURN. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED THAT THE "COLUMN & SHAFT ASSEMBLY" WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT IS VERY SCARY TO BE DRIVING A CAR DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN NOT BE ABLE TO STEER THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL FELT "LOCKED".. *TR
SUN ROOF (MOON ROOF) EXPLODED. WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, WITH THE SUN ROOF CLOSED AND THE INTERNAL CEILING SHADE CLOSED, AN EXTREMELY LOUD POP CAME FROM THE ROOF OF THE CAR. VERY LOUD! THEN, THE SOUND OF WIND AND BROKEN GLASS STREAMING OVER THE CAR AND ONTO THE CARS TRAVELING BEHIND US. WE PULLED OVER AND FOUND THE SUN ROOF SHATTERED FROM EDGE TO EDGE. WE MADE OUR WAY TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER AND PERSUADED THEM TO VACUUM OUT THE GLASS. THEY TOLD US THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A ROCK HITTING THE TOP AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. AT APPROX. 7:20 AM ON JULY 24, 2014 THE SUNROOF ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT WITH PANORAMIC ROOF EXPLODED WHILE TRAVELING ON RTE 495 IN MA. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST IN THE CAR. ALL WINDOWS WERE UP AND THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED. THE SHADE WAS OPEN. I ESTIMATE 75% OF THE GLASS BLEW UP AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. SOME REMAINED IN THE FRAME OF THE SUNROOF AND SOME FELL DOWN INTO THE CAR, A SMALL AMOUNT UPON MY HEAD AND DOWN MY BACK. THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF OR NEXT TO ME IN THE THREE LANE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE PERFECT, THE HIGHWAY HAS BEEN RE-PAVED IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. THE OUTSIDE TEMP. WAS IN THE MID 70'S, NO RAIN, NO HEAVY WINDS, NOT TOO WARM OR TOO COLD. THERE WAS A COMMERCIAL VAN BEHIND THAT EXPERIENCE A SPRAY OF TEMPERED SAFETY GLASS. AS I PULLED OVER THEY PASSED ME WITH LOOKS OF ASTONISHMENT ON THEIR FACES. THEY WERE CHECKING TO SEE IF I WAS OK AND CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY. THEY DID NOT STOP AFTER SEEING I WAS NOT INJURED. AFTER CHECKING EVERYTHING OUT I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARRANGED TO GET ME A LOANER CAR AND TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. AFTER SEEING THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE (REALLY?) AND THAT THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE WAS NO APPARENT INDICATION IF THE SUNROOF WAS STRUCK OR NOT STRUCK WITH ANYTHING. BUT THAT "GLASS JUST DOESN'T BREAK BY ITSELF" SO IT WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. THEY WERE ALSO SURPRISED A HYUNDAI ENGINEER WAS AVAILABLE TO INSPECT THE SUNROOF SO QUICKLY SINCE IT TYPICALLY TAKES SEVERAL DAYS TO SCHEDULE ONE TO GO SEE THE CAR IN PERSON. 5 DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME THEY SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT THEY WERE TOLD THE SAME THING THAT THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE HAD REPORTED.
CAR PURCHASED NEW (LIMITED TRIM) IN DECEMBER 2012. DURING WINTER 2013 (DEC/JAN TIMEFRIME), I HIT A SIGNIFICANT POTHOLE ONA LOCAL HIGHWAY ON-RAMP BLOWING OUT THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE TIRE. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (NO SPARE TIRE SUPPLIED), TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW IDENTICAL TIRE. SERVICE STATION CALLED ASKING FOR AUTHORIZATION TO REPLACE D/S FRONT TIRE ALSO SINCE IT HAD A SIDE-WALL BUBBLE. I DECLINED PERMISSION AND WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR BROUGHT IT TO ADVANTAGE HYUNDAI FOR THE SECOND TIRE. ON JULY 11, 2014, I FOUND ANOTHER SIDEWALL BUBBLE ON THE D/S FRONT TIRE AND HAD THE SAME DEALER AGAIN SELL ME A NEW TIRE. TODAY 10 DAYS LATER, ANOTHER FRONT D/S TIRE SIDEWALL BUBBLE. NO ABNORMAL POTHOLES ENCOUNTERED. INCLUDING THE BLOWOUT, THIS IS FOUR TIRE FAILURES IN 19 MONTHS AND 25,000 MILES. TIRES ARE 17" LOW PROFILES AND RUBBER IS FROM HANKOOK. SITUATION IS UNSETTLING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ANYONE DRIVING IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

ON 06/19/14, I PURCHASED A 2013 MODEL CAR AT RICK CASE DEALERSHIP, LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA. ODOMETER SHOWED 7413 MILES. SUPPOSEDLY CERTIFIED AND WITH 10 YRS WARRANTY, ETC. I DRIVE SOME 7000 MILES/YR SO VEHICLE STAYS IN DRIVEWAY MOST OF THE TIME. VERY SELDOM DO I TAKE IT OUR ON THE HIGHWAY. AT ABOUT 7715 OR SO MILES OF SLOW, STREET DRIVING, I TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICE A LOUD RACKET, BANGING NOISE. I TAKE IT IN THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS THEY FOUND "A COUPLE OF LOOSE BOLTS" WHICH THEY TIGHTENED AND THAT WAS IT. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. ABOUT A WEEK LATER,[AROUND 7850 MILES] I TAKE IT AGAIN ON THE ROAD. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MILES OR SO OF 70+ M/H DRIVING FOR THE RACKET TO SHOW ITSELF AGAIN. I TAKE IT ONCE MORE TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME I POINTED OUR THAT I HAD NOTICED SOMETHING UNUSUAL WITH THE ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR,LEFT SHOCK ABSORBER. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER TELLS ME THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT AS THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS ALL BANGED UP, THE ABSORBER IS MISALIGNED, THE BRAKE LINE IS HANGING PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE TIRE, ETC AND THAT I MUST HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. [THEIR GALL AND AUDACITY IS AMAZING!], AS A RESULT, I HAVE TO ASSUME ALL COSTS!. THEY CLEARLY WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME, THE CUSTOMER. SALES MANAGER SAYS THAT I "SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED" THE CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT..AGAIN, THE GALL OF THIS MAN! I SAW NO PROOF THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN "THOROUGHLY INSPECTED" AS HE CLAIMS. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STARTING THE CAR AND NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED WITH APPROXIMATELY 9,750 MILES ON THE CAR. THE MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING IS ON THE PARKWAY AND EXPRESSWAY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN. HOWEVER, IT IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME THAT THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITH SUCH LITTLE MILEAGE ON THE CAR. I WAS JUST VERY FORTUNATE IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS NOT DRIVING. *TR
I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN NOV 2013. IN JULY 2014 FOR THE FIRST TIME MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON. I HAVE MY CAR SERVICED AT MY HYUNDAI DEALER REGULARLY. EVERY SERVICE I MENTION THIS PROBLEM. AS OF APRIL 1ST THE LIGHT HAS COME ON ONCE A WEEK. THE TIRES GET DANGEROUSLY LOW (22LBS). TODAY APR. 23 I BROUGHT MY CAR IN AGAIN FOR SERVICE AND RECEIVED THE SAME RUN AROUND ABOUT THE TIRES. THEY ROTATED THEM AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NO SIGNS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM. ALSO THE CAR DOES NOT SEEM SOLID WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT JUMPS AND SWAYS AT EVERY LITTLE BUMP. MY BRAKES WERE ALSO VIBRATING. BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AS A CLOSEOUT ON MAY 30TH 2014. I WAS ON INTERSTATE 57 GOING SOUTH ABOUT 60 MILES OUT OF PADUCAH KY DRIVING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. WITH NO WARNING THE CAR WENT TO THE LEFT ACROSS 3 LANES AND THEN BACK TO THE RIGHT 3 LANES AND AGAIN TO THE LEFT 3 LANES BEFORE I COULD REGAIN CONTROL. THE SEMI BEHIND ME JUST ABOUT JACK KNIFED TRYING TO AVOID HITTING ME. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER IN PADUCAH THEY SAID IT WAS MY BRAKES, THEY CUT THE ROUTERS. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR OVER 55 MPH AS IT WOULD WANDER TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY HOME STATE I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM TO RETURN IT TO HYUNDAI. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM SO THIS IS A COVER UP BY HYUNDAI. THE STEERING ON THE HYUNDAI IS BAD! THERE NEEDS TO BE A MAJOR RECALL ON THIS ELECTRONIC STEERING. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. THE NEXT MORNING, I SPOKE WITH THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS STARTING FOR THEM JUST FINE. HE SAID THERE ARE SO MANY SENSORS THAT IT COULD BE ONE, BUT THEY WOULDN'T KNOW WHERE TO START AS THERE ARE SO MANY AND COULD NOT MAKE AN EDUCATED GUESS. HE WANTED TO KEEP IT OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF IT WOULD ACT UP FOR THEM. IT IS NOW 2PM TWO DAYS LATER AND THE MECHANIC CLAIMS THERE IS STILL NO ISSUE, HE SAID THEY HAVE LET IT RUN ALL MORNING AND IT IS FINE. TAKING A CORNER AT 5 MPH IN 2ND GEAR, HEARD A METALLIC SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE CUT OUT, LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. PULLED OVER USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. TOWED CAR TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. I WAS TOLD THE TOP OF THE PISTON HAD A CRACK IN IT THAT DEVELOPED OVER TIME AND FINALLY FAILED. DEALERSHIP MECHANIC SAYS WHOLE COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE PART IS BACK-ORDERED, NOT KNOWING HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO REPAIR. *TR
I HAVE FOUND THAT SINCE PURCHASING MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA THAT ANYTIME I HIT A POTHOLE OR BUMP THAT THE WHOLE CAR SHIFTS TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. I WENT AROUND A CORNER THE OTHER DAY AT A LOW SPEED AND HIT A BUMP, THE WHOLE BACK END SLID TO THE RIGHT. I FIND THIS VERY UNSETTLING. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS A SUSPENSION PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE OR A VEHICLE DEFECT IN GENERAL WITH THIS CAR. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND HER SEPTUM WAS RIPPED. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CAME WITH HANKOOK OPTIMO TIRES, AND THEY ARE ONLY 10 MONTHS OLD WITH ABOUT 22000 MILES ON THEM, WELL UNDER THE WARRANTY. HAD TO GET A FLATBED TOW AND PURCHASE A BRAND NEW TIRE FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP. *TR

PURCHASED NEW 2013 FROM DEALER. MILEAGE AT PICK UP - 212. I PICKED THE CAR UP, APPROXIMATELY 2 WKS AFTER SIGNING PAPERWORK, BECAUSE MY MOM WAS HOSPITALIZED. I DROVE THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF WKS - TO WORK, THE HOSPITAL. I'M 48 YRS OLD, I DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY. IT'S MY FIRST NEW CAR IN 17 YEARS. I'M PARKING FAR FROM ALL CARS + BEING VERY CAREFUL WITH THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN HAVING SOME PROBLEMS SO I GAVE IT A REALLY CLOSE INSPECTION + DISCOVERED THE FRONT TIRE HAD A SMALL BUBBLE, THE SIZE OF A QUARTER, IN THE OUTER WALL. AT THAT POINT MILEAGE WAS UNDER 700 MILES. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER, SALESMAN IMPLIED THEY WOULD FIX IT - NOT THE CASE. THE DEALER SAID NOT OUR PRODUCT AND SENT ME TO A TIRE COMPANY WHO THEY SAID DEALS W/ NEXEN WARRANTY PAPERWORK - NOT THE CASE. I CALLED NEXEN ON JUNE 12TH (MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 726 MILES) + REPORTED IT. I GAVE THEM TONS OF INFORMATION + TOLD THEM THE NAME OF THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH ON THE MULTIPLE CAR ISSUES. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL THE DEALERSHIP + SEE IF THEY COULD GET THEM TO COOPERATE WITH THEM. THEY ALSO SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SEE ABOUT REPLACING THE TIRE ON A 1 TIME BASIS. TO DATE I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. THE TIRES ARE WRITTEN ABOUT EXTENSIVELY ONLINE - MANY PEOPLE HAVE TROUBLE WITH THIS TIRE ON THIS CAR. SOME THINK IT COULD BE THE COMBINATION OF THE TIRE SIZE 17" + THE CAR, SPECULATING THE CAR MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THIS SIZE. IT'S A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. BUBBLES EQUAL BLOW OUTS, ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF THOSE IN THE CAR + THOSE DRIVING OR WALKING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. HYUNDAI IS ALSO MISREPRESENTING THE CAR AND SO ARE THE SALES PEOPLE AT MIRAK. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT LOW PROFILE TIRES. THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT LOW PROFILE TIRES. AND THEY TOLD ME TO LOOK AT THE STICKER. THE STICKER DOES NOT SAY LOW PROFILE TIRES. BUT THE TIRE PROS SAY - THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE LOW PROFILE TIRES. *TR
