2020 HYUNDAI PALISADE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO STRIPPED LUG NUT SCREWS.
My tire was losing air so we took it to a local tire shop to be repaired thinking it had a nail in it or something. Turns out it was losing air because the wheel was cracked and slightly bent. The only 2 people who drive this car are my husband and I and neither of us could recall hitting or running over anything. The Hyundai dealer refused to submit a warranty claim (car had 16,200 miles on it), so we called Hyundai corporate and they submitted a warranty claim that would be assigned to a case manager and they would get back to us. That was 5/24 and by 6/15 we still hadn't heard anything back from them in spite of calling 3 more times to check the status of the case. I believe either this particular wheel was defective or the engineering design of the wheel is wrong. We still have the wheel for inspection. No warning lights other than the low tire pressure warning came on. The dealer inspected the wheel twice and Les Schwab (tire place) inspected it twice and installed a used ("take-off") wheel for us yesterday. The tire had no damage and there was no damage of any kind anywhere on my car, so I find it hard to believe that we could have hit something so hard to crack the wheel but had no other damage and couldn't remember any such event. The crack is over 1 inch long and absolutely could have caused a blowout or accident, so we weren't able to use the car much for a month except right around our home.
