WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65MPH AFTER 15 MIN THERE IS A BURNING RUBBER SMELL, THE OIL IS LOW EVEN THOUGH I CHANGED IT 3 WEEKS AGO, IT IS CONSUMING TWICE AS MUCH GAS AS BEFORE. I CALLED A CERTIFIED HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY HAVE NO AVAILABILITY, I HAVE A SAFTEY CONCERN BECAUSE ENGINE FIRES CAN HAPPEN. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO ABS RECALL
The engine failed. The failure started at 56,000 miles with knocking and got worse over time. My entire family and others safety was put at risk due to the engine failure and possible lack of performance at any time and chance of fire. The dealership and an independent mechanic confirmed engine would fail and has inspected the vehicle. There was no warnings or lights that illuminated on the vehicle
AFTER GETTING GAS, I NOTICED A STRANGE SOUND COMING FROM MY CAR. I DROPPED IT OFF WITH MY MECHANIC WHO RECOGNIZED THIS AS A HYUNDAI GDI ENGINE HAVING DEFECTS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT CONFIRMED THE BEARINGS WERE WORN AND ENGINE ROD WAS ALMOST THROUGH THE ENGINE. HYUNDAI HAS REFUSED TO COVER EXPENSE TO REPAIR.
THE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR STARTING RANDOMLY GOING OFF VERY SPORADICALLY SINCE WE HAD THE CAR. THEN ONE DAY IT STARTED GOING OFF ALMOST EVERY MINUTE FOR ABOUT 7-8 MINUTES THEN AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED AND IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE. CAR IS A 2015...AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IN RESEARCHING MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI MODELS AND YEARS. WE HAVE TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP, TAKEN IT TO A LOCKSMITH (COULDN'T OPEN WITH A SLIM JIM AND AN INDEPENDENT THAT USED TO WORK FOR HYUNDAI WHO SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO DESTROY THE PANEL TO GET INSIDE TO CHECK THE ASSEMBLY AND REPAIR. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IF A FAST EXIT IS NEEDED. HYUNDAI FORUMS HAVE THE ISSUE BEING ASKED ABOUT FREQUENTLY INVOLVING ONE DOOR OR WITH MULTIPLE DOORS
PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED OVER MY HEAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING, JUST STARTING TO MERGE ON THE FREEWAY.
RECALL 194 IS RELATED TO POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL FIRE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OUT SINCE 9/2020 AND YET NO DEALERSHIP HAS PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CALL AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND GET TOLD "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE". LAT CALL IS THE DATE BELOW.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE; TOLD TO PARK CAR OUTSIDE AS IT COULD CATCH FINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WAS TOLD DIAGNOSTIC SHOW ABS MODULE WAS NOT LEAKING, THEREFORE NO REPAIR NEEDED ALTHOUGH THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT WOULDN'T LEAK IN THE FUTURE. CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE (LISTENED TO CAMPAIGN 953) DETAILING THAT AN ELECTRONIC UPDATE WAS INSTALLED WHICH IF THE LEAK OCCURS, THE CAR WOULD BE PLACED IN A MODE THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO BE DRIVEN FAST AND TO IMMEDIATELY GO TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. I WANT MY CAR REPAIRED AND PART REPLACED. THIS ELECTRONIC UPDATE DOES NOT DO THAT ... IF THE CORPORATION KNOWS THE PART IS FAULTY THEY SHOULD REPLACE ALL, NOT JUST THOSE THAT TEST BAD AT THE TIME OF THE CHECK. WAS GIVEN NO OTHER RECOURSE.
2015 HYUNDAI SANT FE LIMITED 3.3L AWD, PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALERSHIP, 129,280 MILES. ROUTINE OIL SERVICE WITH MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC AND WIX FILTERS SINCE PURCHASED. TRAVELING 75MPH ON I-10 (FLORIDA) WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. NOT TOWING, TRAVELING STRAIGHT. AS THE VEHICLE STARTED UP A SMALL GRADE IN THE ROAD, THE CRUISE CONTROL SURGED (AS NORMAL TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE SPEED) I HEARD A BANG, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, OIL LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE DIED IMMEDIATELY. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND LOOKED OUT THE PASSENGER WINDOW TO MERGE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND NOTICED AN ORANGE GLOW OUTSIDE (IT WAS NIGHT). ONCE STOPPED, OPENED HOOD AND NOTICED SMELL OF OIL, OIL POOLED IN THE UNDERBODY FAIRING. CHECKED OIL DRAIN PLUG AND FILTER, AS I HAD AN OIL CHANGE 700 MILES PRIOR. BOTH WERE STILL PROPERLY INSTALLED. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC, DIAGNOSIS WAS SEIZED ENGINE. INSPECTED ENGINE BLOCK AND NOTICED FIST SIZED HOLE IN BLOCK (SEE PHOTOS). TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WAS INFORMED THEY HADN'T SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THIS ENGINE. I INFORMED THEM I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2001 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH 220K MILES ON IT AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING/MAINTAINING CARS FOR 30 YEARS AND I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE EITHER. WAS INFORMED THAT THEY SUSPECT IMPROPER OIL MAINTENANCE. OIL AND FILTER BOTH REPLACED EVERY 5000 MILES. ALWAYS MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC AND WIX (GOOD QUALITY FILTERS/OIL). I SUSPECT HYUNDAI HAS ENGINE RELIABILITY ISSUES. NO PRIOR ENGINE ISSUES NOTICED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS PRIOR. NO OIL LIGHTS ON PRIOR. WE JUST COMPLETED A TRIP TO NASHVILLE, TN (860 MILES ROUND TRIP) AND WERE RETURNING FROM JASPER, FL (460 MILES ROUND TRIP). OIL AND FILTER REPLACED RIGHT BEFORE TRIP. TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED. IN OTHER WORDS, I MAINTAIN MY CAR.
MY 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM (ABS) MODULES THAT COULD LEAK BRAKE FLUID INTERNALLY AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICA SHORT OVER TIME. THE PISTON SEALS IN THE ABS MODULES'S HYDRAULIC VALVE COULD LEAK BRAKE FLUID INTO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (EUC) . AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE ABS MODULE COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THE SAFETY RECALL LETTER I RECEIVED 12-24-20 STATED TO CALL THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. I CALLED ON JAN 12, 2021 TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL WERE NOT IN YET AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I FIND THIS TO BE VERY CONCERNING THAT I MAY HAVE A CAR THAT ANYTIME COULD CATCH ON FIRE AND HYUNDAI CANNOT FIX IT.
I I HAD THE CAR INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT SINCE MARCH 2020 AND THEY WENT OUT AGAIN ON 1/6/2020 IS IT POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD BE THE WIRING HARNESS THAT IS NO GOOD.
AS PART OF NHTSA RECALL #20V-520, HYUNDAI RECALL #194, I WAS INFORMED THE PART THAT HAS STARTED FIRES, WOULD MAY MERELY BE INSPECTED AND NOT REPLACED. THIS PART SHOULD BE REPLACED SINCE IT IS KNOWN TO START FIRES.
VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REPAIR IN DECEMBER 2018 TO HAVE A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED FOLLOWED BY A LOAD BANG AND THEN THE CAR ACCELERATED. THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES AND LOOKED NO FURTHER. IT HAPPEN A FEW TIMES AFTER BUT NO VISITS TO DEALER. IN JANUARY 2021 WHILE PARKING THERE WAS NOISE COMING FROM UNDER VEHICLE AND IT STOPPED RUNNING. CAR WAS TOWED AND TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION. IT DID NOT HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEED. I FEEL THE BANG AND THE ACCELERATION WERE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSION STARTING TO FAIL.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle stalled and the two catalytic converters became inoperable. Additionally, the blue link screen failed to load and link the features. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed two catalytic converters that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 115,000.
ABS failed while merging causing a collision that ended up totaling my car.
The sunroof screen will not close therefor is no protection if the sunroof were to shatter. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. It is not covered by the warranty. There were no warnings prior to the incident. I have tried to close it regularly and it still won’t close.
No warning lights. Had started making a small noise that morning but nothing of concern, sounded like a rock in my tire. Was driving up hill, started struggling, then lost all power, had no brakes, Parts went flying out from under car. Smoke came out from hood. Had no brakes or power. Cars behind me could have been hit by flying parts, left a trail of parts on road. I had my kids in car and if we would have been going down hill I wouldn’t have been able to stop. Had entire engine replaced. Hole in engine block. Piston and and valve pieces on road
I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR AND THE BATTERY LAST YEAR. CAR WAS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. RECENTLY IN LAST COUPLE MONTHS NOTICED ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKES WHILE ON FREEWAY THE STEERING WOULD SHAKE AND FEEL LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL. JUST RECEIVED NOTICE OF A BRAKE RECALL BUT THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY. HOW LONG DO I WAIT FOR THEM TO COME UP WITH A REMEDY?

AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WITH SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS PULLED OVER TO SHOULDER AND BLACK SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE ENGINE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO POHANKA HYUNDAI OF FREDERICKSBURG (5200 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY A, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408). THE NEXT DAY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A CONNECTING ROD BECAME DEFECTIVE AND LED TO COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN LATE SEPTEMBER WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION ("CAMPAIGNE194") FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING THAT A BREAK FLUID LEAK IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WITH POTENTIAL FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. MY WIFE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE DEALER, FITZGERALD HYUNDAI ROCKVILLE MD, TO GET IT FIXED. THEY SAID THE FIX WAS NOT READY AND THAT WE WOULD BE CONTACTED. WHEN TOLD THEM THAT WE PLANNED TO DRIVE TO SOUTH FLORIDA (FROM JUST NORTH OF WASHINGTON DC), THEY BRUSHED OFF HER CONCERN WITH A CARELESS ATTITUDE. WE ARE NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ALL AND SEE ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS OBLIGED "TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL FOR YOUR VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER". WE HAVE RECEIVED NO FOLLOW-UP FROM THEM AND FEEL THAT GIVEN THIS BEGAN IN AUGUST, A "TIMELY MANNER" HAS NOT BEEN MET. IS OUR VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE?! WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE.

I FOUND ABS ALARM MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD. WHEN I VISITED LOCAL DEALER SHOP, IT IS PROBLEM ON ABS MODULE. BUT I HEARD 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS RECALL FOR ABS MODULE. BUT DEALER SHOP TOLD ME MU CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL.I JUST WONDER WHY MY CAR IS NOT AVAILABLE RECALL. IT IS SAME KIND OF CAR. I WOULD LIKE THEY INVESTIGATE MY CAR IS AVAILABLR RECALL.

ENGINE SEIZED ON 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. NO WARNING AT ALL. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP. DID NOT TAKE TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC FOUND NO OIL IN THE DIP STICK. SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE DONE A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO. VEHICLE JUST WENT OVER 100K IN MILEAGE. I'VE KEPT UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES. HAS TO BE SOMETHING WITH THESE HYUNDAI ENGINE.
THE VENDOR HAS HAD MONTHS TO HAVE A REMEDY TO FIX THE ABS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING CAUSING POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRES.

THERE IS ONE RECALL OUT ON MY 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT HAVING TO DO WITH RISK OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THE ABS SYSTEM CAN LEAK ONTO AN ELECTRICAL MOTOR AND CAUSE AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED AN OFFICIAL WORD ON THIS RECALL - ONLY WORD OF MONTH/ RADIO. THERE IS NO REMEDY YET UNTIL END OF OCTOBER 2020.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO HERB CONNOLLY HYUNDAI, 520 WORCESTER RD, FRAMINGHAM, MA 01702, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS PERFECT ON ARRIVAL AND WAS NOT REPLICATING THE FAILURE OF THE SMOKE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MIRAK HYUNDAI, 1165 MASSACHUSETTS AVE, ARLINGTON, MA 02476, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TOO MUCH OIL WAS ADDED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT WAS TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE FOR THE OPEN RECALL OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V520000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V520000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. GREENWAY HYUNDAI OF ATHENS (4160 ATLANTA HWY, ATHENS, GA 30606, (706) 612-9500) WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR WAS BOTH TO DEALERSHIP ON 3/7/2020 -3/12/2020 THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT THEY REPLACED THE BCM RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP ON 3/19/2020 HEADLIGHT NOT TURNING ON HEATED SEAT WENT OUT AND REAR WINDSHIELDWIPER NOT WORKING GOT BABK 3/20/20 BOUGHT BACK AGING ON 4/22/202 AND RETURNED TO ME ON 5/07/2020 FOR SAME THING IT IS BACK AGAIN AT DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME THING. I WENT TO START THE CAR UP TO GO TO WORK AND THE LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON IT WAS RAINING THAT DAY AND TURNED ON THE REAR WIPER ON THAT DID NOT TURN ON THEN I TRIED THE HEATED SEAT TURNED IT ON AND IT WENT OUT.
WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, GOING APPROXIMATELY 65-75MPH FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AS I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR TO PREPARE FOR A LANE CHANGE, I REALIZED THAT I COULD PUT THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT APPEARED. I TRIED AGAIN UNSUCCESSFULLY, THEN TRIED THE BREAKS. THE BREAKS WERE VERY STIFF, AS IF THEIR POWER TO THE ENGINE WAS CUT OFF. I TRIED TO TURN OFF OF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE CURB, AND I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO VERY STIFF. ALTHOUGH I COULD TURN, IT TOOK MUCH MORE STRENGTH THAN USUAL. I LET THE SPEED DECLINE NATURALLY UNTIL IT STOPPED ENTIRELY ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WHILE STOPPED, I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO USE THE BREAKS, GAS, AND TEST THE STEERING, BUT THE SAME ISSUES WERE THERE WITH ZERO SUCCESS. ONE THING I CAN NOTE WAS THAT THE BATTERY APPEARED TO BE WORKING JUST FINE, AS MY RADIO WAS ON THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE CAR ON AFTER SOME TIME AND IT IMMEDIATELY WORKED - WITH EVERYTHING ELSE APPEARING TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE LIGHT AT THIS TIME WAS OFF, AND HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, BUT BECAUSE THE LIGHT TURNED OFF, THEY CLAIM THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO READ WHAT HAD HAPPENED DURING THIS INCIDENT. THEY GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME WHILE OFFERING NO SUGGESTIONS, THEY DID NOT EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT THE ENGINE. THEY EVEN SAID THAT THEY WOULD TRADE IN THE CAR FOR RESALE - AS IF THEY WOULD LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I AM LUCKY I DIDN'T DIE, AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. MY PROBLEM APPEARS TO LOOK MUCH LIKE THE RECALLS OF OTHER SANTA FE YEARS AROUND 2015. I HAVE TRIED FOR A WEEK TO CONTACT HYUNDAI WITH NO SUCCESS IN GETTING IN CONTACT WITH A CASE MANAGER. FAILURE MILEAGE AROUND 83,000.
FUEL CONSUMED MORE , LIGHTENING IN BACK NOT CLEAR , ENGINE SOUND ,
My Santa fe sport has had oil consumption issues since 80k. It got worse prior to 90k. Made appt for oil consumption test. It's burning 1 qt or more every 1000 miles and hyundai refused there was an issue. Since I've had mutiple incidents with check engine light coming on. In spring 2022 I was told I need spark plugs and GDI cleaning which was done. This did not make any difference and check engine light back on couple months later. Recently at 130k I lost power on highway and barely made it home. Dealership reported cylinder 3 is misfiring and need engine. I was told it wasn't covered with extended warranty and I need to pay.

ALL I'M ASKING IS TO FIX THE ENGINE FAILURE BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. THE DEALER IN THE DOMINICAN US WILLING TO COOPERATE IF HYUNDAI USA GIVES THEM THE GREEN LIGHT. 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FEE I BOUGHT NEW, TURBO SPORT. AT 26,750 MILES THE DISC PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS FELL OFF THE STEEL BACKING PLATES. THE PADS IN THE FRONT WERE PAPER THIN AND THE BACK WERE SOMEWHAT BETTER. THE "SQUEALERS" THAT WARN YOU OF PAD THICKNESS NEVER MADE A SOUND. DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'M A 50 YEAR SERVICE MECHANICS, NEVER SAW THIS BEFORE. THE PADS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH LACK OF STOPPING. I'M NOT ASKING FOR MONEY BACK FROM THEM, WARNING OWNERS NOT TO EXPECT THE 50K MILEAGE STANDARD FOR HYUNDAI VEHICLES. I CALLED THEM AT HEADQUARTERS TO WARN THEM OF THIS SITUATION. COULD HAVE CAUSED GRAND MOTHER AND CHILD SOME SERIOUS OUT COME AS THAT IS THE ONLY USE FOR THIS VEHICLE. BEWARE
2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport all recall repairs made. Catastrophic engine failure in March 2020. Hyundai took vehicle in to replace engine, called me a liar when I gave them towing receipt. Never got an apology, took 3 years to get the $35 towing fee back. Hyundai had another recall- don't park in garage- fire could occur and they changed out fuse. During this time my dash instrument panel still worked but after recall, I could not change from Jan 1, 2000 to current date. Hyundai told me to take it up with them during the next recall. I did and they took 4 days to tell me that it was a bad sim card in the large display and it would cost me $600. Hyundai has ignored 4-5 letters to their corporate HQ in California and have provided much disservice and do not care about customers, service nor support. They adjusted the transmission so that it jumps or shudders under load going up a hill. There is no sense wasting time dealing with local, mid Atlantic or National Hyundai representatives as they do not care about quality, service so I have instructed loved ones to buy Honda or Subaru instead of Hyundai or Kia. I want to write to South Korea HQ of Hyundai but that does not seem to work. Hyundai HQ- 10550 Talbert Avenue, Fountain Valley, CA 92728 0850, USA is worthless. Their head of customer service told me that she is the highest ranking person with whom I will deal with as she accused me of lying to her about my $35 cash tow, plus my insurance payment and a $10 tip. I could not get an apology nor anyone from Hyundai Corp to deal with this customer dis-service representative. I guess I am lucky that the car is still working with transmission shuddering but a new engine almost 60k miles ago. I will trade in shortly and supplement my kids payments to buy anything but Hyundai or Kia products in the future. Heck when I bought it the dealerships first oil change took 3 hours as they lost the car and never provide the free car wash. Total rip off and they don't care
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING (0 RPM ON DASH). I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE ENGINE/CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I REMEMBER SMELLING A BURNING SMELL THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. ALSO, SMELLED THE SAME BURNING SMELL FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT AFTER THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY TURNED OFF. THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON OR ANYTHING PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION HYUNDAI!
At around 55,000 miles, my family vehicle displayed signs of concern by rattling and shaking- especially when I would turn the vehicle. When bringing it for regularly oil maintenance my mechanic had me listen to clear signs of distress within the engine. Knowing I drive my two children with me regularly in this vehicle, he asked me to bring it to Hyundai’s local dealership. On 3/12/2020, I waited approximately an hour and a half to be seen for my scheduled appointment only to be shooed away and told there is no issue. Nobody bothered to run testing or evaluate the issue besides a quick walk by. 7 months later, the problem has worsened and continues to leave me worried that my children and I will be left stranded due to an unreliable engine. The shaking has worsened and the car has produced concerning smells of burning. Hyundai finally admitted that I do need a new engine, but since I am not the original owner, they are not providing replacement. Hyundai engines appear to be a problem in many instances, and I fear this is another situation. Engine failure at 55,000 miles on a 5 year old car is unacceptable and proves safety is not on the forefront of Hyundai’s mission. I appreciate any assistance recalling Santa Fe engines on the 2015 model so the many families who drive this vehicle can do so safely.
FOLLOWING WARRANTY WORK ON DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCKS, THE REAR TAILGATE OPENS ELECTRONICALLY BUT OFTENTIMES WILL CLOSE IMMEDIATELY ON YOU. IT IS INCONSISTENT, SOMETIMES IT OCCURS TWICE IN A ROW AND SOMETIMES IT IS EVERY THIRD OPENING. IT HAS COME DOWN ON MY HEAD AND THAT OF MY WIFE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND HAPPENS WHEN USING THE INTERIOR BUTTON, THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AND THE BUTTON ON THE TAILGATE HANDLE.
The navigation/backup camera screen gets stuck on the loading page. This problem began right after the warranty period ended, which appears to be a common complaint on the message boards. When it first became a problem, it eventually would load, but would take approximately 15 minutes. Now, it fails to load at all (just continuously displays "loading"), which renders the backup camera, navigation system, maps, radio, satellite, clock and all associated controls useless. A backup camera is essential for me--I will not drive a car without one, since it a safety concern due to kyphosis. Having the navigation on a large screen (versus my phone or a printed map) is another reason I chose this car. So, not repairing it is not an option. It is a safety issue. When trying to find a solution, I found hundreds upon hundreds of complaints for the same issue with the same model as my car. The dealership also was aware of it. So, I figured I would report it since it is so common, hoping to save others from the $1000+ bill I received to repair it.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A POLICE TOW YARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. DON MOORE HYUNDAI (3200 VILLA POINT, OWENSBORO, KY 42303, (270) 685-5555) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT A RATE OF 20MPH ON A DECLINE, WE BEGAN TO SLIDE IN THE SNOW, AS WE SLID I BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES TO SLOW US DOWN BUT THE HILL MADE US GAIN SPEED EVEN THOUGH THE WHEELS WERE NOT SPINNING. AFTER SLIDING DOWN HILL FOR CLOSE TO 100 YARDS, WE MADE IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE MADE DIRECT IMPACT WITH THE SIDE OF THE MINIVAN. IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH FOR THE FRONT BUMPER OF MY VEHICLE TO BE COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF, MY RADIATOR CRACKED, THE MINIVAN IS TOTALED AND ALL THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF IN THE MINIVAN, BUT MY AIRBAGS NEVER DID RESULTING IN MY CHIPPING MY TEETH ON THE STEERING WHEEL, AGGRAVATING A FRACTURED WRIST, HURTING MY RIBS, AS WELL AS MY PASSENGER HITTING THEIR HEAD HARD ENOUGH TO GIVE THEM A PHYSICIAN DIAGNOSED CONCUSSION PUTTING THEM OUT OF WORK FOR 2 DAYS AND GIVING HER WHIPLASH. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY STANDARDS AND REPUTATION OF HYUNDAI WITH THE PLAN TO BE HAVING CHILDREN, WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT WE HAVE NOT HAD CHILDREN YET.
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 114,000 MILES THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN IT, WE HAD IT REPLACED. NOW AT 134,000 MILES THE ENGINE WENT OUT, THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THAT ALSO. IT HAS BEEN SITTING AT HYUNDAI SINCE DECEMBER 2019 IT IS NOW FEBRUARY 2020 AND STILL WITHOUT A CAR OR A RENTAL. SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUILT AND NEW ENGINE AFTER THEY TESTED THE ENGINE IT STARTED MAKING NOISES AGAIN AND APPARENTLY HYUNDAI SENT THEM SOME PART THAT DIDN'T FIT NOW THEY HAVE TO FIX IT AGAIN... HYUNDAI CORPORATE HAS ONLY OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT BROKE.
IN JANUARY MY ALTERNATOR FAILED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE BAD PART. TWO DAYS LATER THAT PART FAILED AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SWAPPED THE PART AGAIN FREE OF CHARGE. ON FRIDAY SEPT 6TH MY ALTERNATOR FAILED AGAIN AND DESTROYED THE IN-LINE FUSE AND KILLED THE BATTERY. ONCE ITS FIXED IT WILL BE MY 4TH ALTERNATOR IN LESS THAN 80K MILES. ALL OF THE TIMES THAT THIS PART FAILED IT WAS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AT THAT POINT DRIVING IT STRAIGHT HOME THE ENGINE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, ONCE WHILE MAKING A TURN THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, I WAS LEFT WITH NO POWER. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE ISSUES I READ INVOLVING SANTA FE ENGINE RECALLS FOR THE 2013, 2014, AND 2017 MODEL YEARS.
USED VEHICLE (80,000 MILES). POWER STEERING CUT OUT WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONG CURVE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH OUR INFANT SON IN THE BACK. MANAGED TO SAFELY STOP, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. DEALERSHIP INDICATED IT HAD FIXED PROBLEM WITH ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM, BUT THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. HAPPENED TO MY WIFE A THIRD TIME WHEN SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPACE. DEALER COULDN'T IDENTIFY PROBLEM, SAID WE NEEDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE STEERING ASSEMBLY.
