TAKATA RECALL. AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I AM TOLD THAT IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, IT WILL COST NEARLY 2300 DOLLARS SINCE THE PASSENGER SEAT MUST BE REPLACED
SEVERE CORROSION ON FRONT SUBFRAME. IT IS A RECALL BUT NO FEEDBACK FROM HYUNDAI. SALT BELT CORROSION (LAWSUIT) AGAIN NO FEEDBACK. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS , COULD RESULT IN INJURY
FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE DUE TO RUST WHILE BEING DRIVEN. PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND CALLED TOW TRUCK. OPERATOR TOLD ME TO LOOK UP SONATA RECALLS BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE ONE. IT WAS RECALL # 09V124000. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES IN TWO DAYS ALWAYS GOING TO ANSWERING MACHINE. THIRD DAY DROVE TO DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT. TOW GUY SAID EVERY TIME IT IT WAS MOVED MORE DAMAGE WOULD BE DONE. HE DIDN'T WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY. DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T PICK IT UP. TOW GUY CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND HE BROUGHT IT THERE (8/20/16) FIVE DAYS AFTER THE BREAKDOWN. AFTER 5 DAYS SECOND DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A RECALL ITEM AND SAID TO CALL HYUNDAI AMERICA. BEGAN DISCUSSIONS WITH HYUNDAI AMERICA- MANY CALLS- AND AFTER OVER 60 DAYS THEY DECIDED IT WAS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND SOME OTHER DEPARTMENT OF HYUNDAI AMERICA AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. DEALERSHIP GAVE ME ANOTHER # TO CALL BUT THAT # HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF MY CASE. THE EXPENSE OF BEING WITHOUT THE CAR HAS BEEN QUITE DRAINING. CASE # WITH HYUNDAI AMERICA IS 9566309. I WOULD LIKE THE CAR COMPLETELY REPAIRED BUT CAN'T GET ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING. THANKS
THIS IS MY SECOND ATTEMPT SUBMITTING THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE HYUNDAI CORP HAS NOT FIXED MY CAR NOR GIVEN ME A LOANER NOR CONTACTED ME AND IT'S BEEN 3 MONTHS.

UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION, IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS INTERNAL CORROSION ON THE FRONT SUBFRAME AND THE SEAL WAS DETERIORATING. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF, UNTIL I TURN THE CAR OFF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, SUBFRAME FRACTURED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE FRONT AXLE TO FRACTURE AND SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT AXLE WAS CUT AWAY FROM THE SUBFRAME TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V124000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,000.

MY FOOT SLIDE OFF THE BREAK, AND HIT MY VAN IN THE BACK BUMPER IN MY DRIVEWAY AND TWO WEEKS LATER MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND NEVER WENT OFF. AT MY HOME, NO REPORTS, OR DAMAGE OTHER THEM CUT ON MY BUMPER DUE TO THE HAUL ON THE VAN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V124000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
FRONT SUB FRAME RUSTED. CRACK IN THE SUB FRAME NEAR THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. CAR HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT. DANGER OF SUBFRAME BREAKING AND CONTROL ARM DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY WAS BENT AND RUBBED AGAINST THE TIRE, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
EXTENSIVE UNDERCARRIAGE RUST AND CORROSION EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE LOOKS BRAND NEW ON BODY AND INTERIOR AND HAS <40,000 MILES. RUST HAS EXTENDED INTO BRAKES SUBMOUNTS. BEEN TOLD BY MECHANIC IT MAY BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS LOWER CONTROL ARM OR BRAKE LINES COULD CORRODE THROUGH AND CAUSE COLLISION. HYUNDAI STATES IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL, EVEN THOUGH PURCHASED AND DRIVEN IN PA.

SEVERE RUST AFFECTING UNDERCARRIAGE. VEHICLE WAS PART OF RECALL FOR SUB FRAME ASSEMBLY AND HAD TO HAVE ENTIRE ENGINE CRADLE REPLACED. REMAINING SECTIONS OF UNDERCARRIAGE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL, FUEL LINES, BRAKE LINES, SUSPENSION ARE ALSO SEVERELY CORRODED AS WELL AS LARGE PORTIONS OF THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE BODY PANELS. BRAKE LINES IN REAR PORTION OF VEHICLE CORRODED SO BADLY THEY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. TOP PORTION OF FUEL PUMP LOCATED IN TOP OF GAS TANK ALSO SEVERELY CORRODED.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED OUT INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT 15 STARTS IT WAS OFF AND ON. THEN AROUND 03/11/2004 IT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. *TR
ENGINE CODE P0401 REPLACED EGR VALVE TWICE AND LIGHT IS STILL ILLUMINATED

THE CHROME PLATING ON THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCHES IS PEELING OFF CAUSING PASSENGERS TO CUT THEIR HANDS/FINGERS WHEN OPENING THE DOOR. *JS
TOOK CAR TO MECHANIC FOR FUEL PUMP WORK. HE INFORMED US THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR AND IS UN-SAFE TO DRIVE. I FOUND THE RECALL ONLINE AND CALLED HYUNDAI. THEY INFORMED ME THAT REMEDIATION HAD BEEN DONE IN 2009. (A NEW HOLE FOR DRAINAGE HAD BEEN DRILLED IN THE ENGINE CRADLE FRAME AND A SEALANT APPLIED). EVIDENTLY THIS DID NOT STOP THE CORROSION OF THE FRAME AND CAUSED A WEAKENING OF THE FRAME AND A CRACK IN THE STRUCTURAL AREA OF THE FRAME. IS HYUNDAI LIABLE TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT? I CAN SUPPLY PICTURES OF THE DEFECT AND CRACK IN FRAME IF NECESSARY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 HYUNDAI SONATA AND AIR BAG LIGHT SUDDENLY WENT ON THEN OFF. THEN IT WENT BACK ON A FEW MINUTES LATER AND HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS NOW.
WE OWN A 2004 HYUNDAI SONATA (109,000 MILES) WE HAD A FRONT END COLLISION WITH SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. ME AND MY WIFE SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE FOUND OUT ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE ARE FREQUENT COMPLAINTS IF THIS FAILURE AROUND THE NATION AND ALSO IN MANY HYUNDAI MODELS ACROSS MULTIPLE YEARS. WE ARE FILING THE COMPLAINT SINCE THE ERROR IS CRITICAL AND SEEMS TO BE SYSTEMIC IN HYUNDAI VEHICLES. WE DO NOT KNOW IF NHTSA HANDLES CARS THAT ARE OVER 100,000 MILES BUT WE FELT A COMPLAINT WAS WARRANTED SINCE THE CONSEQUENCE OF THE ERROR IS SO EXTREME. WE FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY WITH THIS VEHICLE NOW! BEING A DISABLED VETERAN, ON A FIXED INCOME, WE FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT THAT HYUNDAI TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM. ITS NOT EASY FOR US TO REPLACE THE CAR. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON HIMILAYA &CAME TO A SLIGHT CURVE IN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN THE LEFT LANE NEXT TO ME, IT DROPPED TO THE GROUND AND I HEARD A VERY LOUD SCRAPING NOISE.I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO FIND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARM & THE BOLT & PIN MEANT TO KEEP THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FROM DETACHING WAS GONE. THERE IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL, FRONT RIGHT PANEL OF THE VEHICLE, FLUID IS LEAKING & THE CAR IS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL/CAPABLE OF DRIVING. SPLIT FUEL TANK ON THE SIDE, 2ND FUEL TANK TO FAIL IN THE LAST 5 YEARS. HYUNDAI CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEMS WITH FUEL TANKS, BUT GOOGLE THE SONATA FUEL TANKS AND THERE IS A TON OF COMPLAINTS. HYUNDAI WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. NO RECALL, NO NOTHING. HOUSE AND GARAGE HAS SEVERE GAS SMELL AND A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE FLOOR. *TR

WHEN HAVING MY CAR ALIGNED, A TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THAT THE RIGHT FRONT SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH. SUPPOSEDLY HYUNDAI FIXED THIS 5 YEARS AGO, WITH ONE OF TWO FIXES: EITHER REPLACEMENT OR DRILLING DRAINAGE HOLES AND APPLY A RUST PROTECTOR. ONE CAN SEE A HOLE DRILLED ON THE LEFT SUBFRAME BUT NOT THE RIGHT SIDE. BESIDES MY CAR, ONE HAS TO ASK: DID HYUNDAI REALLY DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS SITUATION OR DID THEY ACT LIKE THEY DID? A CAR RUSTING THROUGH THE FRAME IN FIVE YEARS IS UNHEARD OF, AND I FEAR OTHERS MIGHT HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. HYUNDAI DOES NOT WANT TO TALK TO ME. *TR
MY WIFE SOMEHOW GOT HER FOOT CAUGHT IN HER SANDAL AND TRYING TO GET IT UNSTUCK HIT A CONCRETE LIGHT POLE. THE AIRBAG SHOT WHITE POWDER OUT ,LIGHT WENT ON TO SHOW AIR BAG WENT OFF BUT IT NEVER DEPLOYED. HAD IT BEEN A WORSE ACCIDENT FATAL INJURY COULD HAVE OCCURRED BECAUSE OF FAULTY AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING YET SHOWING IT DID BY ALL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS THE LIGHT, WHITE POWDER AND THE SEAT BELT CANNOT BE MOVED AND WILL NOT OPERATE. THE HORN STARTED SOUNDING FOR NO REASON IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT THE HORN SWITCH IN THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY IS BROKEN AND IN THE CLOSED POSITION. THE PART COST IS A RIDICULOUS $1,000.00. ALL AIRBAG ASSEMBLIES IN ALL THE LOCAL WRECKING YARDS ALSO HAVE BROKEN HORN SWITCHES. HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED? THE HORN IS A VERY NECESSARY SAFETY DEVICE THAT SHOULD LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF A VEHICLE. WHY HASN'T A RECALL NOTICE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS CONDITION? ALL OF SUDDEN THE AIR BAG ICON IS CONTINUOUSLY ON. ALL FUSES FOR AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND PROBLEM STILL EXIST. THE COMPANY STATES THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO RECALL. BUT READING INTERNET BLOGS THERE APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM DOES OCCUR ON THIS MODEL WHEN IT REACHES THE 100,000 MILE LIMIT. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL PARKING AREA. IT HAD BEEN BACKED INTO THE SPACE. AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, THE CAR ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS OCCURRED SO QUICKLY THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARED THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK. THE VEHICLE HIT A CAR IN THE NEXT ROW OF CARS. BECAUSE OF RAIN, THE CAR THEN SKIDDED 180 DEGREES AND STRUCK TWO CARS IN THE SAME LINE OF CARS FROM WHICH IT HAD DEPARTED. ONLY AT THIS TIME BY TURNING GETTING THE CAR OUT OF GEAR AND TURNING THE KEY COULD THE CAR BE STOPPED. THE DRIVER BELIEVES THIS WAS THE RESULT OF EITHER A THE ACCELERATOR STICKING ON ITS OWN OR A THICK RUBBER WINTER MAT SLID UP AND JAMMED THE ACCELERATOR. *TR

I CALLED HYUNDAI REGARDING THE BRAKE LAMP RECALL ISSUE IN MY CAR. I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE OF MY BRAKE LAMPS. WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE BRAKES THE LAMPS ARE ALWAYS ILLUMINATED IT ONLY GOES OFF WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THIS CAUSES SEVERAL PEOPLE TO MISTAKE IF I AM BRAKING OR NOT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL PEOPLES COMPLAINTS ON THE RECALL WEBSITE, AND ALL OF US ARE TOLD THAT " THE RECALL HAS NOT AFFECTED YOUR CAR" AFTER GIVING THEM THE VIN. WELL I SAY IT IS. I HAVE THE VERY PROBLEM SPOKE OF IN THE RECALL. SECOND THE RECALL DOES NOT SAY THE CAR MUST ALSO BE UNABLE TO COME OUT OF PARK. THERE ARE THREE SEPARATE ISSUES. MY SUB FRAME IS ROTTING AWAY AND POSES A GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF AND OTHER MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD IF MY ENGINE SHOULD FALL OUT OF MY VEHICLE
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CALLED THE DEALER TO ASK ABOUT A RECALL THEY SAID NONE WERE ISSUED, HOWEVER IT NEEDED TO GET LOOKED AT BECAUSE THERE COULD BE A DEFECT. AND THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE AIR BAGS COULD DEPLOY ON THEIR OWN AT ANY TIME OR NOT DEPLOY AT ALL IN AN ACCIDENT. THE COST TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM LOOKED AT WOULD BE AROUND $125.00 WHICH WOULD BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE COST OF THE REPAIR IF YOU CHOSE TO GET IT FIXED BY THE DEALER THE TOTAL COST COULD RUN AT LEAST $500.00 I WAS WONDERING IF THERE HAS BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THIS IS A COMPLAINT, THERE WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION AREA. I HAVE HAD THE REAR STRUTS REPLACED AND ONE BUSHING ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY THE DEALER AND FOUR INDEPENDENT SHOPS. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE INDEPENDENT SHOPS HEAR THE NOISE BUT CAN'T LOCATE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM. ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE MANY REFERENCES REFERRING TO THE ISSUE. I AM RELUCTANT TO TRAVEL A DISTANCE NOT KNOWING THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE. I HAVE WRITTEN TO HYUNDAI. THEY SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY RECORD OF COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THIS ISSUE. I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW CAR BUT WOULD NOT SELL OR TRADE IN NOT KNOWING THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.
