FIRST, OIL IS LEAKING ON ALTERNATOR AND AREA AROUND, CAR NEEDS A VALVE COVER GASKET, DRIVER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON, PASSENGER SUN VISOR WONT STAY UP, THE VEHICLE HAS 149000 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE TO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THESE SUBJECTS, A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE REAR CROSSMEMBER RECALL IN 2016. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RUSTED THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT HOWEVER THE DID REPLACE THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER BECAUSE IT HAD HOLES IN IT AND WAS RUSTED. THEY REPLACED RUSTED BRAKE AND FUEL LINES (WHICH I PAID FOR) THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN RIGHT SINCE AND NOW THE POWER STEERING LINES ARE RUSTED AND THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE CAR HAS 87,787 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT, NOT DRIVEN IN THE WINTER. THERE IS NO REASON THIS CAR SHOULD BE IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN. WITH THE CAR NOW OUT OF WARRANTY BY A FEW MONTHS HYUNDAI REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING EVEN THOUGH THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED CORRODED LINES AND OTHER PARTS LAST YEAR WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WE ALSO OWN A 2006 BUICK WHICH WAS DRIVEN IN THE WINTER AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE SPECK OF RUST ON IT. THIS IS A KNOWN HYUNDAI ISSUE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE LAST REPAIR, CERTAINLY NOT THIS ONE. THE ONLY REPAIRS MADE HAVE BEEN TO CORROSION OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. THE BODY IS COMPLETELY INTACT WITH NO RUSH.
2006 SONATA: THE ESC ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT. IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE START, THE DASH LIGHT GOES OUT SOMETIMES; MAY RETURN THE NEXT TIME I START THE CAR..
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE, VISIBILITY OBSTRUCTED AND DANGEROUS.
IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE THE AIR BAGS LIGHT BEEN ON IN THE DASHBOARD. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE LIGHTS, THE FUSE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08E021000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
SENSOR IN PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND ALSO CAUSES THE AIRBAG TO NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED FROM HYUNDAI AS THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS SAME COMPLAINT.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH. HAVE TRIED TO RESET BY PULLING THE FUSE AS WELL AS DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR 2-5 MINUTES, BUT TO LIGHT COMES RIGHT BACK ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,348.
CLUNKING , TRUNKING AND SQUEAKING NOISE FROM FRONT SIDE SIDE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR TURNING.COMPLAINED TO DEALER IN 2008 AND 2011 .THEY TEST TEST DROVE AND SAID IT IS NORMAL OR CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.IN 2016 THEY ARE SAYING IT NEED REPLACEMENT OF FRONT UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS COSTING AROUND $2000. I SEE FROM DISCUSSION FORUMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER MAY BE AVOIDING TO ADDRESS WHEN VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY SONATA 3.3L V-6 ENGINE WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE SEEMS TO BEGIN STALLING AND SLAMMING INTO 3RD GEAR FAIL SAFE MODE, LUCKILY I HAVE NOT BEEN REAR-ENDED DUE TO THIS YET! I HAVE READ UP EXTENSIVELY ON THIS AND FOUND MANY WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT ON WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM WEBSITE. IT APPEARS MANY DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE AS THEY HAVE HAD VEHICLE IN TO BE PROBLEM SOLVED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM MORE SO THAN A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING MY CAR INTO 4 DIFFERENT SHOPS INCLUDING A DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WITH NO FIX AND ONLY A 'IF WE CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WE CAN'T FIX IT' RESPONSE I GET MAD. WE HAVE RULED OUT EVERYTHING POSSIBLE; TRANSMISSION, ENGINE, RELAYS, ETC. FOR 4 MONTHS IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SHOPS TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHICH IS HAPPENING SO OFTEN NOW IT IS NOT SAFE AND I AM HAVING TO TAKE OUT A LOAN TO TRY AND BUY A NEW CARE. I CANNOT TRADE THIS IN DUE TO THE PROBLEM. WHEN IT IS RUNNING IT RUNS GREAT, UNTIL IT SLAMS INTO 3RD GEAR WITH NO WARMING AND YOU LOOSE ALL ACCELERATION OR IT DIES COMPLETELY. YOU CAN SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART IT AND IT RUNS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED, UNTIL IT STALLS AGAIN. THE LAST MECHANIC HAVING VERIFIED EVERYTHING HE WAS TOLD TO CHECK HAS DETERMINED IT MUST BE IN THE COMPUTER. SOME INDIVIDUALS SAID EARLY ON THEY HAD THE COMPUTERS REPLACES (AT A BIG COST) ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. MY CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 118,000 MILES ON IT. I HATE HAVING TO GET RID OF THIS CAR BUT THERE IS NO WAY IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. HYUNDAI SEEMS TO BE IGNORING THIS COMPLAINT AS NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND NO HELP IN REPAIRING THE PROBLEM. THE LIGHT OF PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR CONSTANTLY ON. THE PASSENGER SEAT PAD WAS ALREADY CHANGED BY THE DEALER ON A RECALL. , HOWEVER THE SENSOR LIGHT IS STILL ON. CONSUMER DOES NOT KNOW IF AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY OR NOT. THIS MIGHT BE CONSIDERED A SERIOUS HAZARD. THE DEALER WILL NOT RECOGNIZED GRAVITY OF SITUATION OR PERHAPS DENIED IT. THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR LIGHT WILL BE CONSTANTLY ON WHETHER THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN HIGHWAY.
WHEN I START UP MY CAR MY CAR SOUNDS LIKE IN GRINDS THEN IT STOPS ITS THE CHAIN TENSIONER REPLACEMENT
I WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT ON DECEMBER 15, 2015 THE OTHER DRIVER CUT ACROSS THREE LANES AND INTO MY CAR AT MPH 40. MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK THRUSTING IT INTO A SMALL WALL AND POLE. MY SEAT BELT UNBUCKLED AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY I THINK THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THE FRONT WAS SMASHED IN THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS AND THE AIRBAGS AND NOT THE PLOY AND I NEED HELP.
AIR BAG LIGHT IN INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. ESC INDICATOR TURNS OFF AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. REAR SUSPENSION KNOCKS WHEN FUEL TANK IS LOW (I.E. NEAR EMPTY).
ON LAMBDA/LAMBDA II MPI SERIES ENGINES, ENGINE OIL CAN LEAK ONTO THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH COULD AFFECT CHARGING SYSTEM FUNCTION AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL AND NOT RESTART. THIS WOULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER AS WELL AS AFFECT POWER BRAKING AND POWER STEERING SYSTEM FUNCTION, WHICH WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASE STEERING AND BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT, POTENTIALLY INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCES AND THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. EVERY MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS ENGINE HAS OIL LEAKS ON THE ALTERNATOR AND OTHER CRITICAL COMPONENTS (I'VE REPLACED 3 ALTERNATORS SO FAR! ~$200 EACH! + LABOR!!!) YET ONLY A CERTAIN YEAR OF THE "VERA CRUZ" RECEIVED A RECALL BECAUSE THE COST TO HYUNDAI WOULD BE HIGHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES (AZERA, SANTE FE, AND MY SONATA ETC. MODELS)

OIL LEAK FROM ENGINE VALVE COVER - LEFT (FRONT) SIDE OF 3.3 V6. THIS IS DIRECTLY ABOVE ALTERNATOR. EVENTUALLY ALTERNATOR FAILS DUE TO SEVERE OIL/DIRT CONTAMINATION. FIRST NOTICED WHEN BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AT IDLE, SHOWING CHARGING PROBLEM. BY THEN DAMAGE IS DONE. VALVE COVER MUST BE REPLACED ALONG WITH ALTERNATOR OR PROBLEM WILL QUICKLY RECUR. *THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR HYUNDAI VERACRUZ WITH SAME ENGINE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. SONATA IS NOT INCLUDED, BUT A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON, WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE WAS ABLE TO BE ADJUSTED BACK INTO PLACE, BUT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V354000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT REPAIR THE CROSS MEMBER ASSEMBLY AND ONLY SPRAYED THE CROSS MEMBER WITH A COATING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA HAS A DESIGN PROBLEM. THE CUP HOLDER IS LEVEL AND NEXT-TO THE GEAR SHIFTER. WHEN I BRAKE, OCCASIONALLY FLUID FROM A BEVERAGE MAY FALL ONTO AND INTO THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE SHIFTER ENCLOSURE ALLOWS FLUID TO FLOW INTO IT AND COLLECT AROUND A CONNECTOR PROVIDING ELECTRICAL SIGNALS THAT END-UP COMMUNICATING TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER'AND THEN ONTO THE TRANSMISSION THAT I DOWNSHIFTED WHEN I DID NOT DOWN SHIFT. THE RESULT IS I HAVE TO FLIP OVER TO 'SHIFTRIONIC' MODE BECAUSE THE CAR IS PERFORMING LIKE I PUT IT IN THAT MODE WHEN I DID NOT. I TRY TO UPSHIFT BUT IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY'I END UP BEING DISTRACTED TRYING TO PUT THE CAR IN THE RIGHT GEAR AND THE CAR ENDS UP GOING FASTER THAN I INTENDED. I GENERALLY DON'T NOTICE THE DOWNSHIFT UNTIL THE ENGINE STARTS ROARING'.DROPPING INTO SECOND GEAR ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY IS VERY UNSETTLING. AGAIN, I TRY TO MAINTAIN MY SPEED BY PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND ATTEMPTING TO UPSHIFT AND IT'S VERY DISTRACTING. I HAVE HAD A 'PLUS 5' DRIVER RATING FOR OVER 2 DECADES AND I OWN TWO OTHER CARS AND I NEVER BEEN TICKETED WITH EITHER CAR. BUT I RECENTLY HAVE BEEN TICKETED TWICE WITH THE SONATA AND IN BOTH CASES THE CAR DOWN-SHIFTED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. THE PROBLEM STARTED SPORADICALLY ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND INITIALLY I DID NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. IT TAKES A LITTLE WHILE FOR THE BEVERAGE SPILL TO CREATE A SHIFTER MALFUNCTION, SO IT'S NOT OBVIOUS WHAT IS HAPPENING FOR A WHILE. THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON THAT THERE ARE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE. IT IS A SIMPLE BUT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW.
THE ABS LIGHT WOULD SOMETIME COME ON AND OFF, CAUSING THE RADIO AND LIGHTS TO CLICK ON AND OFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR.
CAR HESITATE TO START. ONCE ON ESC OFF LIGHT IS ON AND YOU CAN GO ANY FASTER THAN 15MPH. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND CRANK IT AGAIN THE LIGHT GOES OFF BUT YOU CAN GO PASS 2500 REMEMBER OR ELSE IT BUCKS AND JERKS AND ENGINE REVS BUT YOU CAN'T INCREASE YOUR SPEED. IT HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF RECALL FOR THE 3.3 LIKE ENGINE, BUT HYUNDAI WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE MY ENGINE IS 2.4L. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HYUNDAI ON APRIL 25, 2015.
THE ESC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT START OF VEHICLE. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR.
THE "ESC OFF" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY ON MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2006 MODEL KEEPS COMING UP INTERMITTENTLY. I CHECKED AND DID NOT FIND ANY OPEN RECALLS ON THIS. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH ON THE WEB THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON HYUNDAI ISSUE / PROBLEM ACROSS DIFFERENT HYUNDAI MODELS INCLUDING SONATA, SO I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HYUNDAI HAS NOT IDENTIFIED THE ROOT CAUSE AND ISSUED A RECALL TO FIX THIS. IS THERE SOME OTHER COMMON RESOLUTION FOR THIS THAT NEED TO BE CARRIED OUT BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN THE INTERIM?
AT APPROX. 79K MILES, WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON YOU COULD HEAR A MILD KNOCKING NOISE, AND THEN IT WOULD FADE. TOOK TO DEALER THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. AT APPROX. 96K MILES VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF. COULD NOT RESTART. TOWED THE VEHICLE AFTER WARDS VEHICLE STARTED UP AND KNOCKING NOISE GOT LOUDER. THE NOISE IS NOW ON ALL THE TIME AND HAS A CYCLIC KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. ADVISED MANUFACTURER OF OTHER PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2015. THE ENGINE STALL HAPPED IN MID AUG OF 2015. HAD VEHICLE DIAGNOSED ON AUG 27, 2015. I HAVE UPLOADED THAT DIAGNOSIS. DEALER ADVISED POSSIBLE METAL DEBRIS, BUT SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ADDISTIONAL FEES TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE DIAGNOSIS STATES THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V-568 AND HYUNDAI CAMPAIGN # 132. LOUD TAPPING NOISE WHEN RUNNING COMING FROM BOTTOM END ROD. NEED ENGINE REPLACED. THIS WAS DOCUMENTED BEFORE THE NEWS BROKE OUT ABOUT THE ENGINE RECALL.

BURNING SMELL IDENTIFIED BY MECHANIC AS ELECTRICAL LIKELY PLASTIC INSULATION THAT IS BURNING. ONLY ELECTRICAL WORK DONE WAS BY HYUDAI RECALL TO CORRECT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT THAT AIRBAGS WERE NOT OPERATIONAL SPECIFICALLY THE DEFECT WAS TO HAVE NECESSITATED REMOVING THE PASSENGER SEAT AND FIXING/REPLACING A SENSOR. SINCE THAT WAS CORRECTED THE INSIDE LIGHT DOES NOT GO ON WHEN THE CAR DOOR OPENS. THE BURNING SMELL COMES ON AFTER THE CAR HAS WARMED UP -BEEN RUNNING TEN-15 MINUTES. SO FAR NO OTHER EFFECTS. I HAD HOPED THE BURNING SMELL WOULD GO AWAY. TODAY IS THREE WEEKS AND BURNING SMELL HAS NOT DIMINISHED FORCING ME TO OPEN WINDOWS TO VENT WHILE DRIVING. NOW I MUST MAKE A APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE DASHBOARD REMOVED TO LOCATE DEFECT.
ON 17 AUGUST 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA AT 75 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE OF I-64 NEAR NITRO, WV. CORROSION OF THE STEEL CROSS MEMBER IN THE REAR END CAUSED THE LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM TO DETACH SUDDENLY. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE I HAD PREVIOUS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND RECALL WORK PERFORMED. LATER THAT EVENING I RESEARCHED THE NHTSA SITE FOR RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING NOTICE WHICH I HAD NOT RECEIVED: REPORT RECEIPT DATE: AUG 12, 2013 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V354000 COMPONENT(S): SUSPENSION WHEN I QUESTIONED THE SERVICE PERSONNEL AS TO WHY I DID NOT RECEIVE THE NOTICE, THEIR RECORDS SHOWED MY VEHICLE AS REGISTERED TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2007. THERE APPEARS TO BE GROSS NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF BOTH THE DEALER AND HYUNDAI IN NOT INFORMING ME OF THIS RECALL. AS STATED ABOVE, THE DEALER HAD PERFORMED RECALL WORK ON MY VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS IN THEIR SHOP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OVER THE PAST 3.5 YEARS.

THE SUN VISOR SUDDENLY DROPPED AND IT WILL NO LONGER STAY UP. DANGEROUS IMPEDIMENT TO VISION WHILE DRIVING. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT HYUNDAI WILL NOT REPAIR IT ALTHOUGH THEY COULD DO SO AT ONLY MINOR COST.
VEHICLE FRONT SUSPENSION MAKES SOUND WHEN WE DRIVE ON UNEVEN ROADS, BUMPS. CHECKED WITH COUPLE CLINICS, ALL SAYS DESIGN FAULT. I HAVE THIS SOUND FOR 2+ YEARS AND I AM WORRIED. FRONT BOTH TIRES SUSPENSION MAKES THIS SOUND.
THE PARKING LIGHTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY COME ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND THERE'S NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE RETURNED TO MY CAR FROM WORK AND THE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON DRAINING THE BATTERY. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE ABS/ESC LIGHT COME ON PERIODICALLY BUT USUALLY WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN THE ABS/ESC LIGHT WOULD GO OFF. ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT @ 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT STOP. THE FIRST TIME AFTER PUSHING ON BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES THE CAR STOPPED USING EMERGENCY BRAKES. THE SECOND TIME VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP USING BRAKES OR EMERGENCY. THE VEHICLE SPEED UP TO 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED AFTER DRIVING UP A HILL TO A SLOWER SPEED.

I WAS DRIVING HOME AND SLOWED TO LET SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME TURN LEFT INTO A GROCERY PARKING LOT. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SURGING MAD I COULD NOT STOP IT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. HOWEVER, I DID HIT THE CAR IN FONT OF ME, WITH NO DAMAGE TO HER CAR. I HAD POPPED THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUMPER ON MY CAR. SO WE WENT ON WITH OUR BUSINESS WHEN SHE FOUND NO DAMAGE TO HER VEHICLE. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF TO STOP THE CAR FROM MOVING. I CALLED THE DEALER GLENN HYUNDAI AND TOLD THEM OF THE INCIDENT, THEY IN TURN TOLD ME THIS WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN! IT DID HAPPEN!! THEY CALLED ME AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE VIA TOW TRUCK AND TOLD ME THE THROTTLE WAS DIRTY AND NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. SO I TOLD THEM GO AHEAD AND THEN ABOUT HALF HOUR LATER THEY CALLED AND SAID THE CAR NEEDED A THROTTLE POSITION ASSEMBLY REPLACED. THEY HAD ALREADY CHARGED ME FOR THE CLEANING OF THE THROTTLE, AND THEN CHARGED ME TO REPLACE IT ALSO. DOESN'T CLEANING COME WITH REPLACING THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY? I THINK THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER HYUNDAI'S HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THEY SUPPOSEDLY CONTACTED HYUNDAI CORPORATE USA, HOWEVER, I HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING FROM HYUNDAI. IN MAY 2015, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA CONCERNING A DEFECT IN MY 2006 SONATA'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES (CAMPAIGN TXX2) CAUSING THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO WACO HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 1501 W. LOOP 340, WACO, TX 76712 ON 5/14/15 FOR THE CAMPAIGN NOTICE AND OTHER MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS. WACO HYUNDAI FAILED TO HONOR THE CAMPAIGN LETTER REFUSING TO REPAIR MY SONATA BASED ON THE FACT MY SONATA HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY WRECKED. I PURCHASED MY SONATA A FEW YEARS PRIOR WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT KNOWING IT HAD BEEN WRECKED AT SOME POINT PRIOR. IT HAD 76,002 AT THE TIME I DROPPED IT OFF FOR SERVICE. IT TOOK HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA OVER A MONTH, BUT THEY TOO WOULD NOT HONOR THE CAMPAIGN LETTER BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY WRECKED. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED, PASSES STATE INSPECTION AND IS ROAD WORTHY BY ALL APPEARANCES AND APPLICABLE STANDARDS, BUT NEITHER WACO HYUNDAI NOR HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA WOULD HONOR THEIR OWN CAMPAIGN TXX2 NOTICE.
I WISH TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ON THE SAFETY OPERATION OF THIS CAR. SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT NEW FROM SANSONE AUTO MALL THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON 4 TIMES AND NOW A 5TH TIME IN MAY OF 2015. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ALWAYS POINTS TO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ON THE DRIVERS SEAT. EVERY TIME WE TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI THEY HAVE NO CONCERN OF THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH WE COMPLAIN. THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EXCEPT REPLACE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY ANYTHING. ALSO TALKED WITH HYUNDAI AND THEY HAVE NO CONCERN EITHER ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WE FEAR THE SAFETY OF NOT JUST THE DRIVE BUT THE PASSENGERS SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR AND THEY AIR BAGS DON'T DEPLOY OR THE SEAT BELTS WORK CORRECTLY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION ALSO BECAME DEFECTIVE WHICH HAD TO BE REPAIRED AS WELL. HYUNDAI AND THEIR DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING US AND AVERAGE OF $350.00 EACH TIME FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH WE BELIEVE IS THEIRS. APPARENTLY AS WE SEE IT THEY HAVE NO CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THIS MODEL CAR SERIES. WE HAVE TO TAKE IT AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM PRIOR TO MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION IN JULY OF 2015.

I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. AS I DROVE OFF THE SERVICE LOT, MY AIR BAG LIGHT WENT BACK ON. I CALLED CORPORATE AND ON MAY 29, 2015, THEY ORDERED THE PASSENGER SEAT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER AND SUPPOSEDLY THEY FIXED THE ISSUE. TODAY IS JULY, 15, 2015 AND MY AIR BAG WARNING LAMP IS ON ONCE AGAIN. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
