TAKATA RECALL AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD REMAINS LIT AT ALL THE TIME
IT IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT THE ENGINES ARE BEING RECALLED FOR NOW. IT IS MAKING TAPPING AND PINGING SOUNDS. I HAVE LOOKED THE VEHICLE AND HAVE SEEN PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR 2006 HYUNDAI SONATAS DOING THE SAME THING. SCRAP YARDS HAVE THESE CARS THERE WITH BLOWN ENGINES. MY SON IS HAVING TO PAY ON A LOAN ON A CAR THAT HE CAN NOT EVEN DRIVE. WE HAVE CALLED THE BANKS AND INSURANCE. IT WILL COST MORE TO FIX THE ENGINE THAN WHAT HE OWES. WHY ARE 2006'S NOT BEING RECALLED ALSO?
HYUNDAI SONATA 06. AIR BAGS LIGHT ON FOR NO REASON. FOUND CODE B1448 STORED. AIR BAGS NOT WORKING PROPERLY TO PROTECT DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS FROM DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY IN THE CRASH.
THE SUN VISOR ON DRIVER SIDE KEEPS FALLING DOWN AND DOES NOT STAY UP. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN SUN IS IN MY EYE AND I CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WOULD HATE AN ACCIDENT WITH SUN IN MY EYE AND GETTING BLINDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID THREE ROTATIONS BEFORE CRASHING INTO THREE VEHICLES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DRIVING OR IDLE.
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH LEFT REAR BRAKE CALIPER;IT IS PROBABLY RUSTING AND FREEZES UP,CAUSING THE LEFT REAR BRAKE PAD TO NOT OPERATE.THE RESULT IS THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS BRAKING ON THREE(3) WHEELS.THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE COMPANY(HYUNDAI) IS NOT ADDRESSING.THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 150 COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE.THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED WITH NO RESULTS.
TAKATA RECALL ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT MY CAR WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE.IT HAS TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THERE.I DROVE AROUND TO THE STORE AND IT WON'T GO OVER 60MPH.
I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CONTROL ARM IT WAS NEVER FIXED SO HOW DO I GET IT REPARIED
THE CAR EITHER ACCELERATING OR BRAKING JERKS AS IF IT STARTS AND STOPS ON IT'S OWN. I AM AFRAID OF DRIVING IT. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES AND MY FIRST COMPLAINT WAS THAT IT JERKED INTO GEAR. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF REVERSE OR FORWARD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE DEALER REPLACED A SHIFT SENSOR BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOR THE STOP AND START AT RANDOM TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR SLOWS WAY DOWN AND I BARELY CAN GET IT TO GO FORWARDS. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AT NIGHT. I PULLED ONTO A STREET FROM A STOP SIGN INTO TRAFFIC. I BARELY WENT HALF A BLOCK AND HAD TO PULL INTO A DRIVEWAY TO GET OUT OF THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY ON THE DASH. I LOOKED AT THE OFF SWITCH AND IT WAS ILLUMINATED. I PUSHED IT OFF I THINK. THE ROAD WAS DRY AND THERE WAS NO REASON THAT TURNING AT 5 MPH WOULD CREATE A REASON FOR SUCH A REACTION FROM THE CAR. I ONLY HAVE 30K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA WHEN I GO TO LOCK THE DOOR THE LIGHTS STAY ON. I USE THE REMOTE AND MANUALLY AND THEY STILL STAY ON. THERE ARE TIMES THE LIGHTS WHEN FINALLY GO OFF THEY GO ON BY THEMSELVES WHEN PARKED. THIS PROBLEM IS FAIRLY COMMON ON 2006-2010. POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD! HOW COME NO RECALL! LRETIRING SOON AND WILL BE LOOKING FOR A NEW VEHICLE AND NEEDLESS TO SAY HYUNDAI WILL NOT BE ONE I WILL BE LOOKING AT.
ESC LIGHT COM'S ON RANDOMLY CAUSING CAR TO DECELERATE BECOMES HARD TO STEER AND CAR LOOSES POWER. HAVE HAD VARIOUS THINGS DONE TO CAR BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. DIAGNOSTICS FROM DIFFERENT MECHANICS INDICATE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AM TOLD CARE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT 83,000 MILES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL2006 HYUANDI SONATA
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON IN THE DASH BOARD AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SIGN IS LIT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT STARTED SHOWING COUPLE OF DAYS BACK AT THE 106,000 MILES. I CALLED THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY MENTIONED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OPEN. I SEE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V161000 RELATED TO AIRBAGS FOR 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OCS FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR FAILED, BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V161000 (AIR BAGS). RIGHT FRONTWHEEL HAS A SQUEEKING NOISE THAT OCCURS WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. RIGHT SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY INUPRIGHT POSITION.
I DONE HAD 2 ACCIDENTS IN THIS CAR, EACH TIME A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH OR BETTER AND I HIT IT AND TORE MY FRONT END UP BOTH TIMES AND EACH TIME THE AIRBAGS NEVER CAME OUT, SO THIS LAST TIME, MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE AIRBAG NEVER POPPED OUT...
THE VISOR ON BOTH MY 2006 AND 2007 IS BROKE AND DOES NOT STAY UP. HAD TO GLUE IT. ALSO WE HAD AN THIRD 2007 WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY HAZARD. THE OTHER DAY I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS BLOCKING THE SUN WITH ONE HAND AND HAD THE OTHER ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND USING ONLY ONE HAND ALMOST HAD ME IN THE OTHER PEOPLE WRECK.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE DUE TO BAD SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALER THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE PRETENSIONERS HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 2007 AND DID NOT FALL UNDER THE WARRANTY/RECALL. AFTER READING THAT MY CAR FALLS UNDER THE REPAIR STATUE AND STATEMENT MADE BY HYUNDAI MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER THAT I AM REFERRING TO IS CAMPAIGN NUMBER PE14023. THE FIRST REPAIRS OCCURRED AT 30K AND 35K MILES APPROXIMATELY.
AFTER A VISIT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY ESC SYSTEM - UNIT IS IN FAILURE MODE. MANUFACTURER INFORMED OF "DEFECTIVE PROBLEM" CONCERNING THEIR PRODUCT. CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COSTS RELATED TO REPLACEMENT REPAIR. $3000.00 > THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, IN WHICH HYUNDAI CORPORATION SHOULD ISSUE A "RECALL" OF YEARS 2006-2009, MODELS THAT ARE IN "FAILURE MODE" AS PER DEALERSHIP TODAY
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH BOARD LIT UP AND STAYS ILLUMINATED. LOOKING THROUGH OTHER COMPLAINTS THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
THE SUN VISORS IN THESE VEHICLES FAIL, AND RANDOMLY FALL WHILE DRIVING WHICH HAS NEARLY CAUSED ACCIDENTS ON THE ROAD WITH ME SEVERAL TIMES. THEY ARE POORLY MADE CHEAP MATERIALS. THE WAY THE VISOR FALLS PREVENTS VIEWING OF THE ROAD ENTIRELY FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL YOU CAN SHOVE IT BACK UP, AND STRAP IT BACK INTO PLACE, WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE.
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 10/11/2016 AT J.D. BYRIDER OF MANSFIELD AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A CLICKING TYPE SOUND WHEN STARTING VEHICLE. ON 10/14/2016 WHILE MY WIFE WAS LEAVING WORK SHE WENT TO TURN THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS VERY HARD BUT MANAGED TO GET HOME AND WOKE ME UP, I THEN WENT OUT AND VIEWED THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS VERY LOOSE AND THAT THERE WAS A PULLEY LAYING BY THE ENGINE; JD BYRIDER FIXED THE ISSUE OF PULLEY AND BELT; AFTER WE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK WE NOTICED THAT THE CLICKING TYPE NOISE WAS STILL THERE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE AND EVAPORATOR LINE WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED DUE TO SALT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WENT TO MY CAR TO GET A BLANKET AND NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF AND MY ESC OFF LIGHT IS ON.
THE ESCOFF AND ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ONCE IN A WHILE. INTERMITTENTLY, THIS PROBLEM ALSO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. AFTER OVER NIGHT OR WAITING FOR COUPLE OF HOURS AND STARTING THE VEHICLE IT GOES OFF.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE LIFT, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND MULTIPLE HOLES WERE PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
RECENTLY SUDDENLY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND IT NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AFTER STARTING THE CAR. WHEN I START THE CAR, IT BLINKS ONCE AND THEN REMAIN LIT. I USED THE CODE READER TO GET THE CODES AND IT GAVE TWO CODES FOR AIRBAG SYSTEM, B1102 AND B1448. ON FURTHER GOOGLING, THE 1ST CODE INDICATES LOW INPUT VOLTAGE AND 2ND ONE INDICATES PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTING SYSTEM FAULT. NOW I AM CONCERNED TO USE THE CAR AS THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF .
AIRBAGS OFF SIGNS ARE SUDDENLY APPEARING IN THE VEHICLE. PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF SIGN ALSO APPEARING. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT. HYUNDAI HAS FAULT DESIGN AND HAVE TO FIX THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE FRONT UNDERCARRIAGE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
PURCHASED THIS SONATA USED 3 MONTHS AGO WITH 45,800 MILES ON IT, DROVE IT 4,000 MILES AND IT DEVELOPED A ENGINE TICKING NOISE WHICH NOW HAS TURNED INTO A KNOCKING SOUND AT 1800 RPMS GOES AWAY, THEN COMES BACK AT 2200 RPMS. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE TO ESTABLISH A CASE NUMBER. THE DEALER HAS REMOVED THE OIL PAN AND FOUND SHAVINGS SAYING IT NEEDS A "SHORT BLOCK" MOTOR REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $5,800. HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA DENIED THE REQUEST FOR REPAIR TOTALLY. I FIND THAT AT 50,000 MILES AND BEING ONLY THE SECOND OWNER, THIS MOTOR HAD A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS A DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT! THIS IS MY THIRD HYUNDAI, NEW 2005 AND NEW 2007 AND I'M SERIOUSLY IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW SUV BUT IF HYUNDAI WON'T STAND BEHIND A COSTLY DEFECT LIKE THIS THEY WILL LOOSE A 10 YEAR VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER FOREVER.
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DRIVERS SIDE DASH HAS COME ON FOR NO REASON AND IS STAYING ILLUMINATED. PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR THAT SHOWS A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE SEAT WITHOUT A BELT ON IS FLASHING. BOTH OCCURRED AT THE SAME TIME. SEEMS LIKE A RECURRENT PROBLEM THAT THE MANUFACTURER WON'T DEAL WITH DUE TO THE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS READ ONLINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLIES, ALIGNMENT, AND THE LOWER ARM PLATE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE CROSS MEMBER LATER FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V354000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 161,000.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND SEAT BELT LIGHT BLINKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE HYUNDAI SONATA. DEALER NEEDS TO RECALL THE PASSENGER SEAT/FAULTY SENSOR FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS
WHILE DRIVING, THE DAMPER PULLEY SEPERATES AND THE POWER STEERING FAILS ALONG WITH THE WATER PUMP AND THE ALTERNATOR. THIS DAMPER AS IT IS CALLED IS A DEVICE THAT DRIVES ALL THE BELT POWERED DEVICES ON THE ENGINE. I ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND THE REPLY WAS NO. HOW CAN A POWER STEERING FAILURE NOT BE A RECALL? WHEN YOU ARE TURNING AND THE POWER STEERING FAILS I WOULD SAY THE MAJORITY OF DRIVERS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE OUT OF THIS SITUATION. LOOK ONLINE AND VIEW ALL THE PLACES THAT LIST THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE THE VEHICLE STEERS VERY HARD AND IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH AT APPROX 86,600 MILES; FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ALSO NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT SIGN NEAR THE CENTER CONSOLE IS FLASHING EVEN IF THERE IS NO ONE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.
MY 2006 SONATA ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES. BUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALWAYS ON FROM THIS YEAR AND BRAKE LINE WAS RUST. FOR THE AIRBAG, THE LIGHT IN DASHBOARD IS ON WHEN CAR STARTING, AND THE PASSANGER AIRBAG IS OFF EVEN IF SOMEONE SITTING ON PASSANGER SEAT. FOR THE BRAKE, THE FRONT BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED LAST YEAR AND ALL THE BRAKE OIL IS TOTALLY LEAK OUT, SO THERE IS NO BRAKE WHEN DRIVING IT. AND THE REAR BRAKE LINE IS BROKEN THIS YEAR DUE TO RUST. I AM IN FREEWAY WHEN THE REAR BRAKE LEAKS, SO IMAGE HOW TERRIABLE IT IS. NEVER SEEN THIS FROM OTHER 10 YEAR OLD VEHICLES.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON FOR A COUPLE YEARS
TAKATA RECALL..WE'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE NOVEMBER, 2015. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD AND HAS REMAINED RED WHENEVER THE IGNITION IS ON.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT AND PASSENGER WEAR BELT LIGHT CAME ONE EVEN WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE CAR HAD NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON LAST WEEK AND HAS NOT GONE OFF SINCE. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY LIGHTS ON MY DASH BOARD ILLUMINATE. THE MECHANICS ARE QUOTING RIDICULOUS PRICES TO FIX IT AND I AM NERVOUS TO DRIVE IT WITH THE LIGHT ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE DRIVE GASKET WAS LEAKING ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,158. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
VEHICLE HAS 101,564 MILES. DRIVER SIDE VISOR FLOPS DOWN INTO DRIVER FIELD OF VISION. VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN UP POSITION WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. MUST BE REPLACED AS THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT WHICH CORRECTS THE DEFECTIVE CONDITION. AFTER READING FORUMS THIS WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT BY OTHER OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE BRAKING, THE VEHICLE VEERED RIGHT OR LEFT AND A SCRUBBING NOISE WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM WAS FAULTY. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CHICAGO CITY STREETS AND TEMP GAUGE STARTED TO RISE SLOWLY AND I BEGAN SMELLING ANITFREEZE. LATER THE TEMP GAUGE ROSE SIGNIGIGANTLY THE ANTIFREEZE BEGAN LEAKING HEAILY FROM BENEATH AND SMOKE BEGAN RISING FROM UNDER THE HOOD VERY HEAVILY. UPON AUTO SHOP INSPECTION THE REPAIRMAN NOTICED THAT THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM AN AREA BY THE ENGINES' HEATING CORE RUBBER HOSES. THE REPAIRMAN REMOVED THE HEATING CORE RUBBER HOSES FOR INSPECTION AND FOUND THAT THE ENGINES' HEATING CORE METAL TUBING NOSLES/NIPPLES APPEARED AS THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN DIPPED IN ACID. THE REPAIRMAN CONCLUDED THAT HEATER CORE METAL TUBING NOSLE/NIPPLES SEVERE CORROSION IS NOT NORMAL WEAR OR TEAR OR A COMMON AUTOMOBILE PROBLEM.
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 TO 10 MILES MY ESC OFF CENSOR COMES ON & DOES NOT GO OFF BY PUSHING ESC BUTTON ,UNTIL I TURN OFF VEHICLE.
