ON MY WAY TO WORK ONE MORNING I NOTICED THAT I HAD NEXT TO NO PRESSURE IN MY BRAKES. WHEN I HAD MY NEIGHBOR INVESTIGATE WHAT WAS WRONG, HE NOTICED THAT MY HARD BRAKE LINES WERE SO RUSTED AND CORRODED DUE TO SNOW/SALT/ETC, THAT MY BRAKE LINE NEARLY CRUMBLED TO THE TOUCH. I HAD TO REPLACE THIS BRAKE LINE FOR MY CAR TO BE SAFE. THE PERSON THAT WORKED ON MY CAR INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A GROOVE THAT THIS LINE SITS IN, WHICH CAUSED IT TO SIT WITH THE SALT/SNOW THAT CORRODED IT. MY CAR IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD, AND I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. THIS IS IN MY OPINION A VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION INITIALLY WENT OUT ON MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE FROM THOSE REPAIRS AND AS I DROVE HOME APPROX 3 MILES I FELT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S RESPONSE, THEN THE STEERING GRABBED AS I MADE A RIGHT TURN AND DID NOT RELEASE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO STRIKE A VEHICLE. THE STEERING WAS "GRABBING" OR STICKING TURNING LEFT AND RIGHT, I RETURNED TO THE DEALER, THEIR INSPECTION DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING RACK "LET LOOSE", THE DEALER PUT IN 2 POWER STEERING PUMPS, AND TWO STEERING RACKS AND FLUSHED THE SYSTEM MULTIPLE TIMES. THE THIRD RACK SEEMED TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE HOWEVER THE DEALER COULD NOT SAY HOW OR WHY THIS HAPPENED OR WHAT CAUSED THIS ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THE STEERING PRIOR TO DROPPING THE VEHICLE OFF FOR THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WORK. THE DEALER STATED THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS ISSUE AND COULD NOT GIVE ME ANY EXPLANATIONS TO THE CAUSE. *TR
PURCHASED SONATA 2006 IN SEPT 2012 AT 16,400 MILES . AT APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. THE PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR AND SEAT BELT INDICATOR FLASHES ON AND OFF,. BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME. EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER FLASH . IF I LOCK THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT, THE SENSORS SEEMS TO WORK , BUT IT DOESN'T LAST LONG .HAVE.BEEN READING ABOUT SAFETY RECALLS.HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHICH VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. PRESENT 32,567.MILES. *TR
NOTICED A SHIMMY VIBRATION LOUDER THAN NORMAL WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON HIGHWAY, UPON EXITING ON MAIN ROAD HEARD VERY LOUD THUMP BANG ON LEFT REAR DRIVERS SIDE. I ASSUMED IT WAS A BLOW OUT AS I COULDN'T STEER THE CAR (PULLING TO RIGHT) BUT MANAGED TO MAKE INTO PARKING LOT OFF THE MAIN. UPON INSPECTION LEFT REAR TIRE STILL ON CAR NOT FLAT, BUT ON A TOTAL SLANT APPROX 45 DEGREE. I WAS VERY GLAD TO BE OFF HIGHWAY HOWEVER STILL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER TOWING TO GARAGE, MECHANIC CALLED ME LATER AND SAID THE ENTIRE REAR SUB-FRAME ROTTED AND BROKE FROM CAR NEEDING TO REPLACE EVERYTHING SUSPENSION SUB-FRAME, INCLUDING CONTROL ARMS, AND WOULD NEED AN ALIGNMENT, HE ALSO SAID THAT'S WHY MY TIRES WORE DOWN QUICKER THAN USUAL DUE TO SUSPENSION ISSUE. I DIDN'T CONTACT DEALER SINCE CAR NO LONGER ON WARRANTY, AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET FOR USED PARTS (COULD NOT AFFORD NEW PARTS AS MECHANIC'S ESTIMATE WAS ALREADY AT THE $1800.00 MARK) WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ALREADY POSTED WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I DID REPAIR THE CAR WITH A TOTAL BILL (USED/RECYCLED PARTS) FOR $1567.00. I STILL DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. WHY WOULD IT TAKE SO LONG TO HAVE A RECALL...IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A DEFECT WHICH COULD CAUSE SERIOUS CRASH, FATALITY SERIOUS INJURY AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY HYUNDAI FOR REPAIR OR FULL REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE. RECALL ID #09V122000 DEALER OFFERED NO HELP,SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY ,I WOULD HAVE TO ABSORB COST. *TR
TAKATA INFLATORS. AIR BAG SENSOR FOR PASSENGER SEAT IS FAULTY. HAVE HAD REPAIRED TWICE AND LIGHT STILL STAYS ON.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON, THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I ONLY HAVE 38000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR
EARLIER IN THE DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING WITH MY NEPHEW AND SISTER, THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT TIME I DROVE IT, THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AND WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, TURNING A CORNER, WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE DRIVER REAR SIDE. I STOPPED AND SAW A LARGE RUSTY METAL PIECE HAD DETACHED FROM THE FRAME ON THAT SIDE AND WAS DRAGGING ON THE ROAD, THE WHEEL WAS TIPPED OUT WOBBLY. I KNEW IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. I CALLED AAA AND HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE. DUE TO HOLIDAY WEEKEND, MY HUSBAND SAW THE MECHANIC ON MONDAY 7/8/13, WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A REAR SUBFRAME CORROSION AND FAILURE. HE ADVISED US TO CHECK FOR A RECALL AS HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH A PRIOR FRONT FRAME RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO. HE HAD OTHER REPAIRS AHEAD OF US, SO WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC 15 MILES AWAY. WHEN OUR MECHANIC GOT IT ON THE LIFT WE WERE TOLD THE DAMAGE WAS VERY SEVERE: THE REAR END WAS ROTTED, NEEDING REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT OF REAR CROSSMEMBER, 2 UPPER AND 2 LOWER ARMS, L/R UPPER CONTROL ARM AND JOINT, WITH REAR SHOCKS AND MOUNTS, AND ALIGNMENT.WE CALLED HYUNDAI REGIONAL OFFICE, OPENED CASE # 5870260. THE AGENT REPORTED NO RECALLS AND THIS WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT HE STATED HE WAS "VERY FAMILIAR" WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM IN OTHER YEARS AND MODELS. HE ADVISED CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, AS THEY MAY BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING. (HERB CHAMBERS OF AUBURN, MA.) THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED US TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM AT OUR EXPENSE (40MI.) HIS LACK OF EMPATHY AND TELLING US THAT HYUNDAI WOULD TAKE LITTLE OR NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS, OUTSIDE OF A RECALL, PROMPTED US TO HAVE OUR MECHANIC DO THE WORK. REPAIRS WERE DONE WITH HYUNDAI FACTORY PARTS, ($2,640 INCLUDING LABOR). WE ARE CONVINCED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A DEFECT WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY, AND/OR DEATH HAD IT HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWERVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A CLASS ACTION SUIT OF THE PASSENGER SEAT " OCS" ISSUE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS BEEN ATTEMPTING TO GET THE PASSENGER SEAT FIXED FOR YEARS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) FAILED TO IDENTIFY WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS DISABLED.
MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA HAS TWO MAYBE MORE DOOR HANDLES THAT HAVE EITHER BROKEN ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BREAKING INSIDE THE DOOR. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE/DESIGN DEFECT AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURE TO CORRECT. HAVE MADE NUMEROUS CONTRACTS TO THE MANUFACTURE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND TO THERE ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PARTY (BBB) THEY SUGGESTED AND STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION TO THE CORRECTION. I HAVE THE PACKAGE EMAILABLE THAT WAS SENT TO THE ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PARTY HOWEVER THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS TO OLD TO MEET THEIR ARBITRATION CONDITIONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY SISTERS CAR AND NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM AND THEN COME BACK ON AFTER A SECOND.. I WENT TO A GAS STATION TO GET GAS AND A GENTLEMAN PULLED IN NEXT TO ME SAYING HE TURNED AROUND TO LET ME KNOW MY LIGHTS FLICKERED DULL TO BRIGHT. HE SAID A FRIEND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN THEIR SONATA AND HAD IT TO DEALER MANY TIMES AND NO FIX. HE SAID THEY TRADED FOR A HONDA. MY SISTER LOVES THIS CAR AND ITS PAID FOR, BUT IF THIS IS A PROBLEM, IS THERE A RECALL? *TR
MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) AND ABS LIGHTS COME ON WHILE BRAKING EVEN AFTER RECALL WAS CORRECTED FOR THE STOP LAMP SWITCH. BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE CONSISTENTLY EITHER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HARMONIC BALANCER DETACHED WHILE DRIVING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,597.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON OUR 2006 SONATA STARTED INTERMITTENTLY GOING ON AND OFF SEVERAL YEARS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER AT OUR REGULAR SERVICE. THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT GET THE LIGHT TO COME ON. AT A LATER DATE THE LIGHT CAME ON PERMANENTLY WHILE DRIVING. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER IN 2010, WHO CHARGED ME $100 INSPECTION FEE. HE CONCLUDED THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON AS A RESULT OF A SEAT MALFUNCTION BUT TOLD US NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE LIGHT. IN JUNE 2013, WE WERE ON A TRIP TO THE EAST COAST AND NEEDED AXLE WORK (WHICH WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY AT 85,000 MILES) AND I AGAIN ASKED THAT DEALER TO CHECK THE SEAT BELT LIGHT. HE INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH SOME BOLTS IN THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS AND THAT MY AIR BAGS WERE NOT FUNCTIONAL AS LONG AS THE LIGHT WAS ON. EVEN THOUGH I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED DEALER WARRANT FOR THIS VEHICLE, I WAS AGAIN CHARGED FOR THE INSPECTION AND NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER OR WARRANTY COMPANY WILL STEP UP TO COVER THIS REPAIR. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD SAFETY PROBLEM THAN IT APPEARS AND THAT BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND TRADE KNOWS THIS LIFE THREATENING FLAW EXISTS. I AM APPALLED BY THE FREQUENCY OF AIRBAG COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN LODGED AND THAT THE DEALER WOULD ALLOW US TO DRIVE FOR YEARS WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF THESE SAFETY FEATURES. *TR
I WENT TO A SEARS AUTO CENTER BACK IN DECEMBER 2012 TO GET AN ALIGNMENT. IN THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY 2013, I WENT BACK TO SEARS TO HAVE MY ALIGNMENT RECHECKED BECAUSE I WAS EXPERIENCING SHAKING WHILE BRAKING. THEY TOLD ME MY REAR BRAKE SHOES WERE CORRODED AND FALLING APART AND I NEEDED TO CHANGE THEM, ALONG WITH GETTING NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. AFTER HAVE THESE PARTS INSTALLED, THE MECHANIC CALLED ME OVER REGARDING MY ALIGNMENT AND SAID THE REAR SUSPENSION FRAME WAS CORRODED AND RUSTED IN 2 PLACES, CAUSING THE TOW TO GO OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THEY SAID I NEEDED TO EITHER REPLACE THE WHOLE SUBFRAME OR HAVE A STEEL BEAM WELDED TO IT FOR STABILITY SO THEY COULD GET THE CORRECT ALIGNMENT SPECS. IF I DIDN'T FIX IT, THE ALIGNMENT WOULD ALWAYS BE OFF. THEY ALSO WARNED ME THAT IF I TRAVELED WITH MY VEHICLE LONG DISTANCE, THE FRAME COULD BREAK WHERE THE CORROSION OCCURRED, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. 2 WEEKS AGO, I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LISTED TO THE LEFT ABOUT 45 DEGREES AND MY REAR WHEELS STARTED TO LEAN IN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS ALSO TURNED OUTWARDS WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO FISHTAIL AND SWERVE UNCONTROLLABLY DURING DRIVING. I FELT VERY UNSAFE AND MY CAR HAS BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE UNTIL I CAN GET IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. *TR
DASH AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT CONCERNING THE 2006 SONATA (SEE SAFERCAR.GOV DATABASE). IN MY CASE, THE DEALER SAYS THE PASSENGER SEAT NEEDS REPLACING AT A COST OF OVER $2000. I NOTE IN THE ABOVE DATA BASE THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE A WIDE VARIETY OF CAUSES FOR AIR BAG FAILURE. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR SO OFTEN IN THE 2006 SONATA, AND CREATE SUCH A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NHTSA SHOULD REQUIRE HYUNDAI TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THESE AIR BAG PROBLEMS FOR GOOD. I JUST WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. *TR
THE TIRES THAT I AM FILING A COMPLAINT ARE,GENERAL TIRES EXCLAIMS,225/50/ZR17. THESE TIRES WERE PURCHASED FOR MY WIFE'S CAR ON 01/13/2011. HER CAR HAD 29,340 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME THEY WERE INSTALLED BY PARAMUS HYUNDAI ROUTE4 EAST PARAMUS,NJ. HER CAR AT THE PRESENT TIME HAS 47,990 MILES ON IT,WHICH MEANS THAT SHE HAD ONLY DRIVEN HER CAR WITH THESE TIRES FOR 18,650 MILES. I NOTICED THAT THEIR WAS A WEAK SPOT "BUBBLE" ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. I HAD MY WIFE TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED THE TIRES. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED HER THAT THREE OUT OF THE FOUR TIRES HAD WEAK SPOTS AND BUBBLES ON THE SIDE WALLS OF THE TIRES AND THAT GENERAL TIRES HAD DISCONTINUED THE EXCLAIMS BRAND AND THAT SHE MUST REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES. I THEN NOTIFIED GENERAL TIRES BY EMAIL ON 05/18/2013,AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM,AND THAT I HAD REGISTERED THE TIRES ON THEIR WEBSITE AND THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED US OF THE PROBLEM. MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR EVEN KILLED DRIVING HER CAR WITH THREE OUT OF THE FOUR TIRES WITH "DEFECTS". THEY INSISTED THAT THE WEAK SPOTS AND BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALLS WERE CAUSED BY "ROAD HAZARDS" WITHOUT LOOKING AT THEM OR CHECKING THEM. I WOULD AGREE IF THE DEFECTS WERE ONLY TWO TIRES AND BOTH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR BUT I DO NOT AGREE WHEN IT ENTAILS THREE TIRES. RIGHT FRONT,LEFT FRONT,RIGHT REAR. THE PERSON AT GENERAL TIRE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A CONTINENTAL DEALER AND HAVE THEM INSPECT THE TIRES WHICH I DID. THE PERSON THAT LOOKED AT THE TIRES DID NOT PUT THE CAR ON A LIFT HE WALKED OUTSIDE AND LOOKED AT THE TIRES IN A PARKING SPACE. HE SAID THAT HE DID NOT THINK IT WAS A DEFECT BUT A "DESIGN ERROR" THAT CAUSED THE WEAK SPOTS AND BUBBLES AND THATS WHY THE TIRES WERE DISCONTINUED. IF THAT'S THE REASON THEN GENERAL TIRES SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES AND NOTIFIED US OF THE PROBLEM. THE D.O.T. NO.S PS403R7,S403RY3S10,S403RY3710, PS403RY, WOULD NOT FIT IN SPACE PROVIDED ON FORM. CASUAL DRIVING JUST PROCEEDING FROM A STOP SIGN AND SUDDENLY ESC FLASHES AND STEERING GOT STIFF AND BRAKES SEEMED TO STUTTER AND GRINDING SOUND WITHOUT MY PRESSING OF BRAKE. HAD COSTLY REPAIR DONE AT HYUNDAI DEALER AND EXACTLY 12 MONTHS LATER SAME PROBLEM. THE ESC SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AND DOES INTERRUPT NORMAL DRIVING EVEN IF THE ESC IS OFF. *TR
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING, VEHICLE SUDDENLY SPUTTERED A BIT AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR THEN WOULD BARELY MOVE OVER 15-20 MPH. WE FOUND OUT THAT THESE ARE THE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS OF A TPS ISSUE, FOR WHICH HYUNDAI ISSUED TSB 10-FL-010. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALL OF THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS FROM THAT TSB TWICE WITH NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. AT LEAST TWICE IT HAS OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE, AND I FELT WE WERE LUCKY TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE WITHOUT ANOTHER CAR RUNNING INTO US. I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED THAT THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS WE WON'T BE AS FORTUNATE, AND SOMEONE CAN BE SERIOUSLY HURT. THIS IS ALSO A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH HYUNDAIS. FRANKLY, I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF SOMEONE HAS ALREADY BEEN HURT BECAUSE OF THIS. I AM ALSO SURPRISED HYUNDAI HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL OR FOUND A BETTER SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND URGENT SAFETY ISSUE. IN FACT, WE WOULD LIKE TO GET RID OF THE CAR, BUT WE CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR, NOR AM I TOO KEEN ON INFLICTING THIS PROBLEM ON SOME OTHER UNSUSPECTING PERSON THINKING THEY ARE BUYING A GOOD, RELIABLE CAR. PLEASE TRY TO PRESSURE HYUNDAI TO COME UP WITH A BETTER SOLUTION. *TR
THERE IS AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON IN MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. MY MOTHER AND STEPFATHER ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2007 HYUNDAI SONATA. THEY CALLED THEIR LOCAL DEALER, AND GOT THE CAR IN. THEY SAID THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON DUE TO A FAULTY SEATBELT, AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE SEAT, SEND IT TO CALIFORNIA AND IT WOULD COST ME $300. I THINK THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. THE CONSUMER ASKED ABOUT THE CAUSE, AND THE DEALER STATED IT WAS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE, AND DISCOVERED A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THE CONSUMER FILED A COMPLAINT AND HYUNDAI RESPONDED BY SAYING THEY DID NOT SHOW ANY OPEN CAMPAIGNS ON HIS VEHICLE. IN OCTOBER 2013, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL # 13V354000 WHICH OUTLINED AN ISSUE WITH CORROSION THAT COULD RESULT IN DETACHMENT OF THE INBOARD CONTROL ARM MOUNTING POINTS. AS A RESULT OF THE NOTICE, HE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD, IT APPEARED TO BE RELATED AND THAT IT WOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST. CONSEQUENTLY, WHEN HE CALL THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE ISSUE IDENTIFIED IN THE NOTICE AND HIS ISSUE WITH THE BUSHINGS THAT WERE STARTING TO SEPARATE WERE TWO DIFFERENT ISSUES AND THAT THE INITIAL ISSUE WOULD NOT BE A PART OF THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ONLY THING THE DEALER DID, WAS ADD A CORROSION KIT UNDER-COATING AERO AND RUST PREVENTIVE V. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY WERE NOT REPLACING THE CROSS-MEMBER ON ANY VEHICLES, THEY WERE MERELY USING SOME KIND OF PROTECTANT TO PREVENT FURTHER CORROSION.

I HAD 3 PREVIOUS DEALER ALIGNMENTS AND WAS TOLD BY DEALER IN APRIL 2013 THERE IS NO MORE CAMBER/CASTER ADJUSTMENT POSSIBLE, MY CAR IS "OUT OF SPECS", THAT I NEED A $650 AFTERMARKET CAMBER ADJUSTMENT KIT. HAVING OWNED QUITE A FEW CARS AND ALL FOR MORE THAN 7 YEARS AND NONE HAS EVER HAD THEIR DOOR HANDLE SNAP LOOSE. TO REPLACE A DOOR HANDLE COSTS AROUND $150.00. I HAVE REPLACE THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE. SEEMS TO ME THAT LOSING 3 OUT OF 4 DOOR HANDLES IS A RESULT OF A MAJOR DEFECT IN THE CAR AND SHOULD BE THE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY. THIS PROBLEM MAKES THE CAR BOUNCY AND UNSTABLE. THERE IS ALSO A KNOCKING OR LOUD CLICKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AT CRUSING SPEEDS, WHEN I BARLEY PUSH THE GAS PEDAL. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE. IT GOES AWAY WHEN I ACCELERATE. THE RADIO AND CRUISE CONTROL ELECTORNICS SEEM TO WORK ONLY WHEN THEY WANT TOO!
