WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES THE BSD SYSTEM TURN OFF WITHOUT ANY ADVANCE WARNING, THIS COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS, THE BLIND SPOT COLLISION WARNING HYUNDAI NEED TO BE REVIEWED WELL AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE. MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. *TR
MY VEHICLE ENGINE IS STALLING YET MY VIN IS NOT ON THE LIST AND IT SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE LIST BECAUSE MY ENGINE IS COUGHING AND I WOULD LIKE THE ISSUE RESOLVED BEFORE IT SHUTS DOWN ON ME.
Oil Consumption Test Failed, I was originally told if I could prove it was burning oil and not leaking then I would receive a new engine. New engine rejected saying Hyundai no longer warranty engines for that reason. Was told that when motor seized to have it reevaluated for bearing or rod failure. No way to determine bearing or rod was cause of oil consumption without tearing the motor apart. Knocking noise from engine and experienced Engine Failure, resulted in being stranded in middle of highway with my kids 1 yr after oil consumption test. Hyundai rejecting engine replacement due to low compression from cylinders. Not willing to honor their warranty after an obvious lemon of a motor.
AFTER A PERIOD OF DRIVING, WHICH IS RANDOM AT BEST, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL APPEAR AND THE VEHICLE WILL START TO SHUDDER AND LOSE ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND HAPPENS BOTH ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS, AS WELL AS ON CITY STREETS IN LOW SPEEDS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THIS TO STOP IS TRY AND GET TO A SAFE SPACE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FREEWAY TRAFFIC AND IN MOUNTAIN PASSES AS YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THIS COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON 7 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS AT RANDOM TIMES.
From April of 2020 to July of 2021. I have had 3 sets of 3 oil consumption tests for my car at 3 different Hyundai dealerships. I have spent $400-500 dollars on oil changes, oil filter cleaning, and fixing an oil peg that was broke. Which was not brought to my attention right away even though I was going to dealer ships almost every month this year. I just finished the final oil consumption test here in Conroe, Texas. Even though from the latest oil consumption tests, I have burnt .50-1 full quart of oil. They still have denied me an engine replacement. My oil changes does not last 5k miles but barely 1k. The oil is always black, it never is honey gold for long . Because Hyundai is not giving me a new engine to resolve this issue despite all these tests and there being a lawsuit on this make /model. I now have to pay for an oil change every month rather than the average of 2 times a year. I do feel treated unfairly and not heard by Hyundai. It does not feel right to not have this fixed. I understand it is out of warranty . Can I please open an investigation on this matter ? Thank you
I HAVE OWNER THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP CAUSE I WAS CONTACTED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A CAMPAIGN UPDATE CAR GOT THE UPDATE ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE ON HIGHWAY CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE SPEED DROPPED FROM 60 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THEY DID ANOTHER UPDATE TOOK CAR ABOUT MONTH LATER WHILE ON HIGHWAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THEY DID ANOTHER UPDATE ON CAR PICKED IT UP DROVE IT ANOTHER MONTH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THE DID ANOTHER UPDATE AND CHANGED WIRING HARNESS PICKED CAR UP AGAIN DRIVING ON THE STREET ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY DID A LOWER BEARING TEST WHICH SENT RESULTS TO HYUNDAI AMERICA CORPORATE OFFICE AND DID ANOTHER UPDATE ON CAR LOWER BEARING TEST CAME BACK GOOD CAME TO PICK CAR UP ON MY WAY HOME FROM DEALERSHIP ON HIGHWAY AGAIN IT GOES INTO LIMP MODE SPEED DROP FROM 60 TO 30 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AGAIN TAKE IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP THE ADVISOR TELLS ME TECH READ THE CODES TURNED OFF LIGHT BUT HAD IT RUNNING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON I WAS TOLD TECH WAS WAITING ON ENGINEERS TO CONTACT HIM TO SEE WHAT NEXT STEP HE SHOULD TAKE MIND YOU THEY NOW HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS BY THIS TIME I REACHED OUT TO CUSTOMER RELATIONS TO ESCALATE CASE TECH SAID A DUPLICATE CODE CAME UP ON CAR P1326 I WAS TOLD THAT PART WAS REPLACED WHICH WOULD BE THE SECOND WIRING HARNESS AFTER AT LEAST 5 UPDATES TO CAR TECH TEST DROVE CAR HE SAID NO LIGHTS AND NO METAL WAS FOUND /LF WIRING INSTALL/NOISE INSP ALSO SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT WIRING HARNESS-KNOCK SENSOR PICKED CAR UP ON 4/27 DROPPED OFF ON 4/07 SINCE PICKING CAR UP SEEMS TO DRIVE WORSER THAN IT DID BEFORE DROPPING IT OFF THE RPM GAGE SEEMS TO STRUGGLE TO MOVE WHEN ACCERATING IT NOT HAPPY OR SATISFIED WITH WORK DONE SCARED TO HAVE MY FAMILY INCAR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET WHEN I MADE IT TO A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION I PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY 3 CARS TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. PRIOR TO THAT MY WIFE MADE THE COMMENT THAT IT HAD HAPPENED TO HER AND SHE HAD TO GET HELP TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BECAUSE THE STEERING WAS TO HARD FOR HER TO TURN IT ALONE. THIS IS A VERY VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2010 AND 2011 MODELS THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS IN LATER MODELS. THEY'RE AN GREAT AMOUNT OF PEOPLE ONLINE THAT HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE.
CAR IS USING OIL CAN'T GO BUT 1000 MILES CAR NEEDS ATLEAST 2 QUARTS OF OIL HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CV AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT CALLED CRYSTAL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BROOKSVILLE LOCATED AT 14358 CORTEZ BLVD, BROOKSVILLE, FL 34613, (352) 597-1265, AND NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V678000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), HOWEVER HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
The contact owned a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously stolen, and she related the failure to Hyundai Campaign Number: 993. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly to approximately 45 MPH. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The contact stated while driving into the driveway and coming into a complete stop, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that she quickly depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle hit the barbecue grill, and the barbecue grill struck the residence. The contact stated that the failure recurred while at the ATM, and the vehicle nearly crashed into another vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and engaging the turn signal, the turn signal unintendedly activated in the opposite direction. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where she was informed that unknown repairs needed to be completed on the vehicle. The mechanic referred her to the dealer for the repairs. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken back by the auto finance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
THE CAR WAS MAINTENANCE ON THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED INTERVAL. A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY OF 2020. NOT KNOWING THIS WASN'T A FLUKE ISSUE AND NOT HAVING A WARRANTY ON THE CAR. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT ENGINE ON MY OWN DIME COSTING A TOTAL OF $6500 IN REPAIR. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SOONER BY THE MANUFACTURER.
The paint on the vehicle is peeling. It started on the roof and has progressed to the hood, frond fenders, and trunk. Because I am not the first owner, Hyundai will not not cover repairs. On 23 Aug 2023 I also had to replace the transmission at 115,416 miles. Again, Hyundai refused to cover any repairs.

HI MY 2016 REAR BREAK LIGHT DOESN'T LIGHT UP NEITHER JUST THE REAR WINDOW LIGHTS UP..MYMY WARNING LIGHT ON DASH DASH BOARD DOESN'T LIGHT UP IS THERE'S A RECALL FOR THIS AND FRONT PARKING SOCKET IS NO GOOD I CHANGE BULBS TO NO HELP AND YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE WHOLE FRONT LIGHT ASSEMBLY WHICH IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR A PARKING LIGHT CAN HELP WITH THIS MAGER PROBLEM
I WAS TRYING TO BACK INTO A PARK AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T TURN. AN INDICATOR LIGHT WITH A STEERING WHEEL INSIDE OF A CIRCLE WITH A ! CAME ON ALONG WITH TRACTION INDICATOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND RUNNING, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND IGNITED ITSELF AND EXPLODED. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING INDICATORS. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WHO WAS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT CRAWLED OUT THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NO INJURY WAS REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE WILKINS MAZDA DEALER (630-279-3000, LOCATED AT 740 S YORK ST, ELMHURST, IL 60126) WHERE THE RECEPTIONIST STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
PARKING BREAK LIGHT NOT SHOWING WHEN IT IS APPLIED MY CAR IS A HYBRID AND THAT'S WHY DEALER SAID RECALL NO 164 DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND SAME VEHICLE ONLY BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS HYBRID DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR MY CAR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CAR AND ENGINE START TO SHAKE. THE SHAKING IMPACTS THE STEERING WHEEL AND DRIVABILITY OF THE CAR. THE CAR LOSES ANY ACCELERATION POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE ISSUE USUALLY LASTS 1-2 MINUTES. AFTERWARDS, THE SHAKING SLOWS DOWN AND STOPS, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 5 MONTHS LATER WE ARE THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING.
VEHICLE BEGINS TO SPUTTER WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON BOTH RESIDENTIAL STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. WAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS SPARK PLUG ISSUE, SO HAD ALL SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM IS CONTINUING LESS THAN 1 YEAR LATER.
Excessive oil consumption. Failed the oil consumption test preformed by Hyundai multiple times. Hyundai performed full engine cleaning and still consumes an excessive amount of oil.
USED CAR WITH 86,000 MILES ON IT. ON THE 90TH AFTER BUYING CAR FROM USED CAR DEALERSHIP, A RATTLING NOISE BECAME APPARENT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC, IT WAS DETERMINED THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SEIZED AND IF I HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY, IT COULD'VE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND A PROPOSAL FOR THE SETTLEMENT OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INCLUDING MANY HYUNDAI AND KIA CARS. THE SETTLEMENT INCLUDED ALL HYUNDAI SONATA VEHICLES YEARS 2011-2018 AND SOME 2019 VEHICLES. MY CAR IS CLEARLY ONE OF THE CARS AFFECTED. I AM SEEKING HELP FROM THE NHTSA SO THAT HYUNDAI CAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR CARELESS MISTAKES THAT HAVE ALREADY RESULTED IN MANY ACCIDENTS AND CAR FIRES. A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WILL BE LOOKING AT MY CAR ON JANUARY, 6TH 2020. I'M ANTICIPATING THEM TRYING TO BRUSH THIS UNDER THE RUG AND BLAMING THE ISSUES ON ME DESPITE HAVING THE CAR FOR ONLY 90 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE ALONG WITH THE ABUNDANT KNOWLEDGE OF HYUNDAI AND KIA KNOWINGLY USING FAULTY ENGINES. I NEED YOUR HELP TO ENSURE THEY FIX THEIR MISTAKES AT NO COST TO ME AND OTHER OWNERS. THESE MISTAKES NEED TO BE RESOLVED SWIFTLY SO THAT NO MORE CONSUMERS SUFFER UNNECESSARY HARM AND FINANCIAL BURDEN FOR THE MISTAKES HYUNDAI AND KIA KNOWINGLY MADE.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, WITH A SEMI-TRUCK BEARING DOWN ON ME. AS I ACCELERATED SO I COULD PASS THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE SEMI-TRUCK, MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION (AT ABOUT 4000 RPMS) AND WOULD NOT GO AT ALL, IN FACT IT STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I LET OFF THE GAS, BECAUSE IT WASN'T DOING ANY GOOD, AND AS THE RPMS WENT DOWN, TO ABOUT 2000 RPMS, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 55MPH BEFORE I COULD GIVE IT GAS AGAIN AND GET IT BACK UP TO THE SPEED OF ALL THE OTHER TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE WAS NO OTHER WARNINGS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. LUCKILY, THE SEMI-TRUCK WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE IT HIT ME. THE NEXT DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE IT WAS PUT ON A COMPUTER AND IT CAME BACK WITH THE CODE "P200A", WHICH IS THE "BANK ONE INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROLS". THE REPORT STATED THAT "THIS HAS BEEN SEEN BEFORE ON CARS LIKE MINE, AND THAT THE MOST LIKELY FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE VARIABLE CHARGE MOTION ACTUATOR (VCMA)". I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART FOR MY CAR AND FOUND QUITE A FEW POSTS AND COMMENTS OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. MY CAR HAS 93,000 MILES ON IT, BUT IN OTHER REPORTS I SAW ONLINE, THE CAR ONLY HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
I LIVE IN STAMFORD CT 06902 I WENT IN A TRIP WITH MY KIDS TO VIRGINIA BEACH LAST SUMMER 2019 THEN I STOPPED A REST STOP FOR BATHROOM WHEN I CAME BACK TO TURN ON THE CAR THE CAR WAS WITH NO POWER IT CAME ON MY PANEL TELLING ME THE HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE I WAITED 1/2 HOUR AND WORK AGAIN .A WEEK AGO HAPPEN ME THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN I AM WORRIED BECAUSE IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE I DRIVING I CAN'T RELY ON THIS VEHICLE
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH SLIGHT HESITATION AND REDUCED POWER DURING ACCELERATION. CAR WAS ON HIGHWAY WITH IN TEN MINUTES FROM HOME FROM MY RESEARCH INDICATE THIS CARE ISSUE COULD BE CAUSED FROM HYUNDAI SONATA SOFTWARE ISSUE.
AIR BAGS LIGHTS KEEPS COMING WHILE WE'RE IN SEATBELTS
11/4/19 I HAD A POWER STEERING FAIL. WHILE DRIVING I LOST MY POWER STEERING, POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND DUE TO TRAVELING IN THE SLOW LANE I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR IN TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON ONLY TO INDICATE I WAS HITTING THE EMERGENCY GROOVES OUTSIDE THE LANE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHILE IN PROCESS OF CONTACTING AAA - I STARTED THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I TOOK THE CAR TO TARR HUYANDAI THE NEXT MORNING AND THERE WERE 3 CODES PRESENT. MY STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS RECALIBRATED. MY CONCERN IS WHAT CAUSED THE FAIL AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER. THIS SITUATION CREATED A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD HAD I BEEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THIS OCCURRED AND ME UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR IN MANUAL MODE. I CONTACTED HUYANDAI AND APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH 2016 SONATA MODELS BUT MY CAR WAS MFG AT A PLANT THAT WASN'T ON RECALL. SO AT THIS POINT - THE MFG PLANT WHERE MY VEHICLE WAS MFG APPARENTLY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE BEING THE FIRST REPORTED. I FEEL TOTALLY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR ESP TRAVELING ON INTERSTATES, NIGHT TIME, ETC SINCE NO ONE CAN ANSWER WHY MY POWER STEERING QUIT AND RESET WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I WAS TRAVELING ON HWY 160 IN MORRISTOWN TN WHEN THIS OCCURRED - I AM ALSO CONCERNED WHEN I TOLD TARR THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE TRACTION CAME ON WHEN HIT THE OFF ROAD GRIDS THEY LISTED TRACTION CONTROL LAMP WAS ON AND DID NOT MENTION THE POWER STEERING. THAT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER WITH THIS CASE .
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that oil was leaked underneath the vehicle onto the ground. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,868.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45 AND 60 MPH, ON A ARKANSAS STATE HWY AND A US HWY BOTH HEAD LIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN CAME BACK ON. TWICE IN OCT. 2019 WHILE CHANGING FROM HIGH BEAM TO LOW BEAM, ONCE IN NOV 2019 HEAD LIGHTS WENT OFF WITH OUT USING HIGH BEAM TO LOW BEAM. TAKING CAR TO DEALERSHIP ON 12/4/19.
MY TRUNK WOULDN'T OPEN. I USED THE KEY FOB & NOTHING HAPPENED. IT WAS POURING RAIN AND I HAD GROCERIES I WAS TRYING TO PUT IN MY TRUNK. I TRIED THE BUTTON ON THE PANEL STILL NOTHING. I PUT MY GROCERIES IN THE BACK SEAT AND GOT OUT MY OWNERS MANUAL. IT SAID IN CASE OF THE TRUNK NOT OPENING USE YOUR KEY. I DID & IT OPENED & NOW I CAN'T GET IT SHUT! I TRIED W-D40 ON THE LATCH & IT DIDN'T HELP. MY HUSBAND TIED IT DOWN WITH A ROPE. I NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE BEFORE & NOW MY TRUNK IS HELD DOWN WITH ROPE. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S COVERED BY MY WARRANTY BUT IT SHOULD BE. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE GROCERY STORE.
YESTERDAY EVENING 14OCT2019 VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO POWER UP, HYBRID SYSTEM HEV WARNING LIGHT WENT ON AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TRIED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR GOING. FINALLY GOT IT GOING. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS 15OCT2019.
MY VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND TOLD ME THE CALL THE MANUFACTURER TO GET AN APPROVAL. ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS AND STILL NO ANSWER, WHEN I CALLED THEM THEY OPENED A CASE # 16722184 AND SPEAKING TO A WOMAN NAMED ANGIE. SHE SAYS SHES WAITING TO BE APPROVED. SHE CONFIRMED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THAT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN DORAL FLORIDA.
THE CAR WHEN DRIVEN HIGHWAY MILES WILL NOT CRANK WHEN YOU STOP THE ENGINE. THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM LIGHT MESSAGE COMES UP. THE CAR WILL NOT START FOR 15 TO 45 MINUTES. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON ONCE THE CAR STARTS BUT THE NEXT DAY THERE ARE NO LIGHTS OR DIAGNOSTIC CODES. STOPPED IN A DRIVE WAY AND HAD TO PUSH IT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. HAPPENED 3 OTHER TIMES.

ALSO, THE OIL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO PAST FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO THEN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ROUTE 46 HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 28 ROUTE 46, HACKERS, NJ 07800, 908-850-0050) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO FRACTURES WITH SEVERAL ENGINE PISTONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 16076286. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
Car lost power and went into limp mode, it was pretty dangerous. The car is burning a large amount of oil and is making the spark plugs dirty. I have brought the car for about 6 oil consumption tests and Hyundai does nothing to fix it. Engine oil light has come on twice, and even the dealership said that it should not be burning so much oil.

AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE (APPROX 5K)
ON SEPTEMBER 1,2019 MY CAR WOULDNT START. I PURCHASED A BATTERY AND A IT TURNED OVER. ON SEPTEMBER 8TH I DROVE TO GET A OIL CHANGE AND TUNE UP WHICH SEEMED ABNORMAL WHEN I GOT HOME. THERE WAS A TICKING NOISE. I WASNT SURE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE TICKING NOISE SO I DIDNT DRIVE THE CAR. ON SEPTEMBER 9TH I GOT INTO CAR AND STARTED IT WHEN I NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE, THE NOISE ACCELERATED ONCE I PRESSED ON GAS PEDAL SO I DIDNT WANT TO DRIVE IT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS RAPIDLY BLINKING.
2016 SONATA ENGINE FAILURE. VEHICLE'S ENGINE SEIZED WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. CYLINDER #4 PENETRATED THE ENGINE BLOCK AND DAMAGED THE BELL HOUSING OF THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ARE HAVING TO BE REPLACED.
AIR BAG LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON
The engine keeps stalling and the engine light is flashing. The engine burns oil every 1,000 miles and the oil light will illuminate and go away. The dealership has said they fixed the issue but the issue keeps arising with no resolution. This issues is known for all Hyundai's and they are not doing anything about it. My car has stalled out on highways and I don't feel comfortable driving it out of the state.
CAR SHAKES ERRATICALLY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND HAS NO POWER AFTER HITTING ACCELERATOR. IT STRUGGLES TO GET ANY POWER TO GET GOING AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. GEAR CHANGES GET STUCK AND I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN STUCK IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION WHILE DOING A LEGAL U-TURN IN A BUSY BUSY LA INTERSECTION WITH MY 10YR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT OF THE SITUATION WAS TO TURN CAR OFF AND TURN ON AGAIN WHICH POSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR BOTH MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF. TOOK CAR IN TO SERVICE LAST WEEK AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED ISSUE BUT ONE WEEK LATER HERE WE ARE WITH SAME PROBLEM. SERVICE TOLD ME IT LOOKS LIKE SOLENOID IS GOING OUT. WHICH SEEMS STRANGE FOR A 2016 CAR WITH ONLY 27,000. SO IF THIS WAS THE CASE WHY NOT CHANGE IT BEFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME. ALSO CAR HAD PRIOR ISSUES BEFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME ACCORDING TO SERVICE. I SMELL RECALL???? I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION BUT THE DEALER HAS ALL SUPPORTING PAPERWORK.
I GOT MY CAR IN 2017 AND IT'S 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2019 AFTER AN OIL CHANGE MY CAR BEGIN LEAKING OIL AS WELL AS SHOOTING OUT OIL FROM THE OIL RESERVOIR. TOOK IT TO PRIDE HYUNDAI IN BATESVILLE MS, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY OIL SHOOTING OUT FROM THE OIL RESERVOIR WHEN I KNOW IT WAS. ALL THEY DID WAS DIAGNOSE FOR FREE OF CHARGE, AND TELL ME I NEEDED A OIL CHANGE DID BY THEM. I TOOK IT FOR THE RECALL THAT WAS ON IT ECM AND THEY DID, BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T ANOTHER RECALL ON IT AND IT IS STILL LEAKING OIL AND SHOOTING IT OUT FROM THE RESERVOIR UNDER THE HOOD. SOME NEED TO BE DID ABOUT THIS CAUSE IT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL AND I'M STILL PAYING ON THIS CAR AND ONLY HAD IT GOING ON TWO YEARS NEXT MONTH.

REAR BRAKES ARE NEVER APPLIED EVENLY. EVERY TIME CAR BRAKES IT LURCHES FORWARD BETWEEN TIMES WHEN IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE ENGAGING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY. WHEN GOING ABOVE 45 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL WILL ALSO SHAKE AFTER BRAKES ARE ENGAGED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
CAR WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 75MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT JERKED REALLY HARD THEN LOST ALL POWER, MAKING IT A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR NOT ONLY MY FAMILY BUT ALSO OTHER DRIVERS. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT ALL CRAZY AND IT HASN'T STARTED SINCE THAT HAPPENED, CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY ARE STATING IT'S A RECALL ON THE ECM.
