THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, BACK, AND SHOULDER INJURIES. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD INJURY, NECK, AND BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. TOOK TO THE DEALER, WEBB HYUNDAI IN HIGHLAND, INDIANA. THEY SAID $502 TO FIX IT. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. LATER, THEY SAID SINCE I'M A LOYAL CUSTOMER (BOUGHT 5 HYUNDAI'S) THEY'D FIX IT FOR $177. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE! MY WIFE DROVE THE CAR HOME. INVOICE SAYS "CUSTOMER DECLINED REPAIR AT THIS TIME. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE." SHE'S CRYING. EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRES IN 2 DAYS. CAR HAS 97000 MILES ON IT. HYUNDAI HAS LOST MY BUSINESS AND I WILL LET OTHERS KNOW ABOUT THEIR TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS. I DON'T HAVE A FAX MACHINE TO SEND COPIES OF THE RECEIPTS.

EVENTUALLY DIAGNOSED SRS CODE B1706 "PASSENGER BUCKLE PRETENSIONER RESISTANCE TOO HIGH" ADVISED AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY OR AT ALL UNTIL REPAIRED. AFTER READING ABOUT THE HYUNDAI SONATAS PROBE (2006 - 2008), I BELIEVE THE PROBE SHOULD EXPAND TO INCLUDE MY 2006 HYUNDAI TUSCON. SINCE JANUARY OF 2014, MY PASSENGER SEAT INDICATOR LIGHT ( ON THE DASH BOARD) HAS BEEN ON SAYING "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF". EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS PRESENT IN THE SEAT AND THE SEAT BELT IS FASTENED. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with the air bag module needing to be replaced. The independent mechanic cleaned the contacts for the seat sensors however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON A TWO LANE ROAD. I HEARD A LOAD BANG AND MY CAR BEGAN TO SPEED UP. I TRIED BRAKING BUT I COULD NOT SLOW OR STOP THE CAR. WITH TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME I PULLED INTO THE LEFT LANE NOT SEEING ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEN A CAR WAS COMING IN THAT LANE SO I THREW THE CAR INTO PARK AND PULLED UP ON EMERGENCY BRAKE. I WAS A PASSENGER IN A HYUNDAI TUCSON INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON MAY 15, 2011. MY CAR WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT THE FRONT WHEEL WELL. THE CAR WAS TOTALLED AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT, YET NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *TT
