My wife was with my Aunt and driving at 70mph on PGBT highway and instant the check engine light come on and the car started smelling of burnt equipment and stalled. The cabin was filled with white smoke and the windows jammed as well. The car was stalled in the middle of the highway with traffic zooming past and severing to save us. This car put my family is a life threatening situation and I want that to be recorded. We use this vehicle for our family trips and it haunts me to think what it can do to my wife and kids. I have started a formal complaint with Hyundai corporate and the complaint number is [XXX]. Also the car is with Hyundai Dealership at Address: 1301 N Central Expy, McKinney, TX 75070 (469) 525-4300) and I am yet to receive a diagnosis from them on what actually happened to the vehicle. Cops were called at the scene but a formal police report was not given. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
System Failed: Shut off in traffic. Vehicle can be inspected upon request. Safety risk: Potential for collision. Input from Dealership: Dealerships error code/diagnostic code was P213800. Reset system and recharge battery. Warning lights came on at the same time as the car shut down. One month prior check engine light came on, but car was operating normally. Dealership ran diagnostic test which did not indicate any issues. The suggestion was to tighten the gas cap.
We fist noticed a problem with the car having a hard time accelerating and a hard shift at 25-35 mph back at the end of November. We then got a check engine light that came on that said P013A00 Powertrain. We brought it to the dealership the first week of December and were told that the transmission just needed an update. Upon taking the car home it was better for about a week then the issue came back sporadically. Then on March 20th my wife was driving the car and it would not accelerate past 35 mph while getting onto the interstate. Cars were going by her at 70+MPH as she sat there helplessly pressing the accelerator. Eventually she got the car up to 50 mph but it would not go any faster. We brought it into the dealership that day and once again they said the transmission needed an update. I then contacted Hyundai corporate and submitted a complaint and they started a case for the issue. After the second time at the dealership the car was ok for a week and then started with the same issues. After taking it to several other dealerships they all tell me that it’s a transmission issue that they don’t know how to fix but they change what they say once Hyundai corporate talks with them. Presently the car will have very high RPM and jump forward almost colliding with cars in front. It will also not accelerate such as the peddle is on the floor and the RPMs are high but the car will barely move until it shifts gears and jumps forward.
This car has 36,000 miles, purchased new and serviced on schedule. The car is at the dealer for the third time since purchase. The first was a fuel injector issue/drivetrain error. The second time was a bad spark plug. The most current issue is another fuel injector. People on the internet have reported similar problems. The dealership has directed us to come get the car, which is unacceptable, because this is an engine error. I spoke to Hyundai Customer Car and they directed me to rent a car at my own cost and to not drive the car.
For the second time vehicle has lost power and slowly began slowing down. This time it was on the interstate which almost caused a collision with a semi. It is due to faulty fuel injectors which is a known issue with hyundai.
Fuel injector failure in fuel injector #2 Hyundai is aware of the issue and has a technical service bulletin. Hyundai only replaced the one fuel injector in November of 2023. July of 2024 failure in fuel injector #3 and they are now replacing all remaining fuel injectors. I have opened up a complaint with corporate Hyundai and I’m awaiting a response. This failure caused my engine to misfire and a loss in acceleration causing the car to be unsafe to drive.
I was driving & my sunroof shattered. My sunroof was closed but it completely broke. It sounded like a loud bang, or gun shot. When I pulled over, I realized it was the sunroof.

1st Incident: Merging on to the freeway car started to stall but was able to safely make it off the freeway at next exit. Less than 2 miles was unable to accelerate to properly merge on freeway. A slow merge & slow driving on to a freeway is extremely dangerous. 2nd Incident: 6 months later, Nov. 2023. Driving about 65-70 MPH on the freeway with my son, the car started to stall again. I was able to safely move from the 2nd lane, to the shoulder. Waited over 2 hours in the dark for AAA to safely move us. 1st time documented issues with Hyundai dealership. Fuel injector was main issue and was replaced. No check eng light. 3rd Incident: May 2024 was driving about 75MPH in the fast lane when the car stalled. I was unable to move fully out of the lane as the car just died. I was half in the shoulder and the fast lane. I was crying with fear while I had to wait for CHP to move me. Multiple times feared other cars would hit me at 80MPH+ while I waited 30mins+ for CHP to stop traffic and move me to the shoulder. Took the car to the dealership for the second time to be "fixed" for the same issue as Nov. 2023. Fuel injector, and catalytic converter were "replaced". This now being the second time for the fuel injector issue. No check eng light. 4th Incident: April 2026 driving on a school night home from dinner with my son at about 9:45pm. It was raining and was traveling at about 55MPH on the highway. Car started to stall/ shut down again. Was able to go about15MPH to a safe spot and waited for assistance late at night. This happened on a highway where people tend to drive recklessly and try to pass other vehicles which causes a lot of head on collisions, [XXX] . Vehicle was towed to Hyundai dealership for the 3rd time & 3rd time documented for the fuel injector and 2nd for the catalytic converter. The vehicle's main purpose is to safely transport and I've had nothing but nightmares and put in extremely dangerous situations with my son. I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding a series of ongoing safety issues with our HYUNDAI TUCSON 2022 (leased in 2022). We have encountered alarming problems that are affecting the safety and reliability of the vehicle. On July 29, 2023, my husband was driving the vehicle up a sharp incline when the car started shaking/jolting and abruptly shut off. This resulted in a highly dangerous situation as the car began to roll back. He was unable to restart the vehicle, and it had to be towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. It took over a week for the dealership to address and rectify the issue...so we thought (see below). Also, please note that there was smoke coming out from the exhaust when the tow truck came. It looked like smoke from a flame inside. Fast forward to November 8, 2023, the vehicle was experiencing the same issue as before: continuous shaking/jolting, and the vehicle abruptly shut off once again... stalling in the middle of a highway. A police officer saw what happened and helped my husband relocate the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway to avoid oncoming traffic/collision. He waited with my husband as he kept trying to get the vehicle to turn on. After 30 min, he was able to get it back on. The "check engine" light was illuminated. My husband drove home while the car was still shaking/jolting. We plan to, once again, have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership today. We were told the issue had been "resolved" from the last time this happened in July. Clearly, it was not resolved and I feel this vehicle should be recalled. These recurring problems are deeply unsettling for a vehicle that is not even two years old. Given the repeated and unresolved safety issues with this vehicle, I am concerned for the safety of myself, my family, my unborn child as I am expecting and other road users. I would like to request your immediate attention and intervention to address these problems effectively.
In the last 4 months my vehicle has had 2 bad fuel injectors. In both instances my check engine light came in while I was driving down the road. The vehicle shuttered and could not accelerate. Luckily both times J was close to home and was able to turn around. This came with no warning. Both times, I had previously driven the car that day with no issues. When I went out for another trip, the vehicle then had an issue. I am concerned the fuel injectors for this vehicle/model may have a defect of some kind, as I have lost two in a very short amount of time. If this happened in a congested area or highway it could absolutely present a safety issue. The first incident occurred when the vehicle had about 59,000 miles on it.
My panoramic sunroof shattered in the middle of expressway and nobody has been able to help two pieces of my sunroof of shattered and haven’t had this car for more than 6months and dealership won’t help my insurance won’t cover it it’s impossible and expensive to repair. How is it possible to have two accidents with just sunroof
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently went into LIMP Mode with several unknown messages displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately 15-20 seconds before the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Car lost ability to accelerate and was shuddering for the second time. My personal code reader pulls up codes P0191 and P0303. Engine misfire. Second time since June28,2023. Bought the Hyundai Tucson brand new in December of 2021. First time car lost acceleration and was shuddering on the interstate with my toddler son and pregnant wife stranded. The second time was tonight, October 30th, 2023. I was in the car with my still pregnant wife and toddler son.
The collision avoidance system has been going off randomly when there are no cars around, and also in the middle of traffic when I am more than two car lengths away from other cars; when I am on the highway driving fast and when I am on side streets driving slow, and even in my driveway. Additionally, some of the times that the warning system flashes and sounds off the car brakes and stops in the middle of the road. There is no pattern for when the incidents occur not are there any adverse road conditions. Roads here are flat and this has occurred during periods of no rain. Safety of myself my passengers and other driver is at risk due to the vehicle stopping for no reason. I took the car to the dealer, and they could not duplicate the problem and did not find any issues when checking the diagnostics.
I purchased a Hyundai tucson 2022 in November 2022 and Ive been having great issues with the vehicle since. Ive had to bring the car in over 3 times in less than 2 years for powertrain issues. The first was in Oct 2023, then Nov 2023, followed by Jun 2024. Today is engine light is back on and the diagnostic code is saying Powertrain. The car misfires and there is little or no acceleration. This happened on the highway more than once and i was terrified. Also the car does this jerky shaking thing. When i spoke to the dealer about it they made it seem like an uncommon issue but after doing my research, there are lot of complaints about similar situations.
On 10/17/23 I was driving about 55 MPH up a hill when the vehicle began to decelerate rapidly and would not accelerate. The vehicle was shaking and jerking and would not go over 34 MPH. I was fortunately in the right lane and was able to make a right turn into a long merge lane. I turned off the car and tried to start again, and it began shaking uncontrollably while making a strangled noise. I pressed on the gas and smoke began to exit the exhaust. I turned the vehicle off again. I waited about another 5 minutes to try to start the vehicle and was met with the same scenario as above. This time, all the lights on the dashboard turned on; car battery, engine, oil, etc. The brake pedal was also locked up, unable to depress to put the car in neutral. Had the car towed to the dealership and the service advisor indicated it was most likely the fuel injector. He started the vehicle and the same strangled sound and shaking started. The cabin quickly filled with the smell of gasoline. The service advisor stated that it would take maybe a week or more before the vehicle could even be seen as all service centers in the area were understaffed and backed up. No rental/loaner car is allowed to be issued until the car is diagnosed by the technicians. Earlier in the day, the Bluelink app was not functional to remotely start the vehicle. Attempted to remote start the vehicle from two devices, no success. Called Bluelink and the rep had me delete and redownload the app, reset the system in the car by pressing the small reset button, and even tried to send a remote start request from her end and was unsuccessful. She stated a ticket for further assistance is needed. On 10/19/23, the Bluelink app notified me of an issue in the car: DTC P030200 POWERTRAIN. I have read other reports of this occurring in this vehicle. Huge safety issue, especially when on highways. Still waiting on Hyundai to service the call. I hope all fuel injectors are replaced instead of one.
The audio suddenly stopped working (no warnings). This happened 3 times within the last few weeks. Dealer have fixed it each time (i.e. audio is back). Without audio important safety audio warning is not working. Dealer told us Hyundai won't fix it because it will cost over $3000 to replace the amplifier.
While driving vehicle, car lost power and show down on highway. Car would not start. Eventually started and sputtered white smoke and the smell of fuel. Car would only go 2 miles and hour. Took to dealership and they said it was the fuel injector pump. No recall has been issued even though several other Hyundai and Genesis i models have recalls for same issue.
I am dealing with my 3rd clogged fuel injector. My car lost power, starting shaking and wouldn’t accelerate. The engine light went on when it happened, not before. The first time I was on the highway, second time on a major thoroughfare. Not places where I could just pull over. Very scary. I got the first one fixed in 2023. This happened again a year later with a different fuel injector. I just got my car back 2 weeks ago and it is doing it again. I will have it towed but NOT to the dealer this time. They told me it wasn’t a problem with this car, until I called them out on it. Then she said she misunderstood. They are well aware of the problem. I can’t believe the dealer because they aren’t upfront about the problem. They didn’t even give me the paperwork this second time, just a receipt. I when I get this third one fixed, I will never be comfortable driving it
While driving the check engine light comes on and the car loses power and starts running very ruff and almost stalls at times. This is the second time this has happen in 3 months, last time they replaced a fuel injector. I look up the problem and it seams to be common problem with the 2022 Hyundai Tucson.
July.2023: Check Engine Light On ; It came as we were driving on the highway. Acceleration was sluggish due to this issue. Error code indicated that 1 of the 4 engine had issues. Escalated the issue to Hyundai Customer Service. Issue was resolved during first week of Aug.2023. Sept.2023 We were driving on the highway and Check Engine Light came once again. It was late at night. The acceleration was sluggish and managed to drive to a nearby hotel. Contacted Hyundai Customer Service. 2 out of 4 cylinder had issues (replace rotor, wiring etc.,). Dropped the car in a Hyundai dealership (Urbana, IL). Rented a rental car to drive back to MI. Given the recurring cylinder issue, Hyundai Customer Service is NOT willing to accept the issue with Engine. 2 out of 4 cylinders had issue. Remaining 2 cylinders may have similar issue. Given the issue, quality of 2022 Hyundai Tucson Engine design and build quality is a MAJOR issue and RISK for customers. Should you be driving in a freeway, acceleration will be sluggish and can cause major accidents.
Vehicle would not accelerate leaving driveway. Was bucking as I went down the street. At end of street when I tried to turn off it stopped as I accelerated and I was almost rear ended. I pulled over there were no warning lights on at all. I pulled out as I wanted to turn around and go home and it would not accelerate again. I was able to make it home. I looked up problem on line and it seems like I am not alone. As it is Sunday going to call dealer tomorrow but not expecting them to take it in soon as most appointments take over 1 month to get. I am very scared to drive my car.
System failure: Powertrain/transmission. Safety: Driver is stranded without vehicle four hours from home. Driver and passenger could have been rear-ended when vehicle stalled and slowed. Confirmed and Inspected: Vehicle was towed at Hyundai's expense to local dealership but cannot be examined for 9 days. Warning: Engine light came on and vehicle was immediately parked. Symptoms: The 2022 Hyundai Tucson was purchased new on April 14, 2022, and has only 13,800 miles on it. Early in September 2023 when accelerating, the tachometer went way too high; and the vehicle stalled like it was in neutral. Four times on September 15, 2023, at 60 MPH, the vehicle jerked like it was going over rough pavement and fish tailed in the rear end. On September 16, 2023, at 60 MPH, the vehicle again acted like it was on rough pavement. When slowed for in-town traffic a few minutes later, the vehicle began jerking and shuddering constantly at around 30 MPH and would go no faster. The vehicle was barely able to go up a small incline, and the engine light came on. The vehicle was parked immediately. Today, September 18, 2023, Hyundai Customer Care towed the vehicle, at its expense, to the closest Hyundai dealer four hours away from where the driver lives. The local dealership cannot look at the vehicle until September 25, 2023, at 2:30 PM. The dealership where the vehicle was purchased refused to tow the vehicle at its expense and would only say "We can't do anything until we look at it." The dealer stated the vehicle has a misfiring cylinder caused by a No. 4 fuel injector. The fuel injector has been ordered, but the vehicle is still at the dealership.
Driving on hwy 24 about 6 weeks ago car started missing badly. Engine light came on had to pull off hwy almost got rear ended. Waited for roadside assistance over 2 hours was 110 degrees outside. Called Hyandai road side assistance they said another 2 hours. We called dealer they said to just try driving it to dealer. They had car 2 weeks finally figured out had bad fuel injector car had 22000 miles. We got car back still didn't run right. Three weeks later same thing happened they had for one week different fuel injector bad. This time broke down with grandkids in car. There is service bulletin for the problem. Very unhappy care very unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that there was a delay in the operation of the rearview camera to provide an image while reversing. The contact stated that the rearview camera remained activated temporarily while the vehicle was in drive(D). The contact stated that the infotainment system screen turned off and activated functions unintendedly while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment system and the rearview camera were replaced twice; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to shift from reverse(R), the gear shifter was sticking and failed to shift to drive(D). The contact was able to shift to drive(D) after several attempts. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the rough road ahead message was displayed instead of the tachometer. Additionally, the contact stated that there was constant beeping coming from the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,600.
Sound stopped working. No warning just stopped no alarms/alerts. First time was August 14th, 2023 less than 5000 miles. Looked up seems problem has been acknowledged but no recall. Had to reset battery for system to rest. Fuse is problematic per reports. Must happen 3 times for dealer to replace.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, an unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
Spring and Summer 2023: Multiple safety sensor malfunctions during highway rides pose a risk. The official dealership reset the system, but issues have persisted over the last few months. I have a 2022 Hyundai Tucson with about 15k miles on it. I have had it serviced twice for oil changes and the recommended manufacture recommended maintenance. However, I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT loss in power upon acceleration with this vehicle. My new car drives very rough and this is a safety issue due to the fact when entering the interstate, the car will not increase speed as requested putting myself and others on the road in danger. Additionally, simple maneuvers like turning into cross traffic are of concern because the vehicle doesn't respond to acceleration when accelerating from 0mph as well as in stop and go traffic. There are no engine lights or codes that I can visibly notice but even in sport mode the acceleration of the vehicle is not responsive. This is a KNOWN issue at Hyundai as one local dealership offered me a service visit 6 months out because they are so overbooked with these issues. A quick Google search also brought up numerous owners experiencing similar and and escalated issues to include complete engine failure and vehicle overheating. This vehicle needs to be recalled immediately! I experience this loss of power EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE and I don't feel safe driving my new car anymore. I have mentioned this to my dealership and they are going to take a look at it today. Occasionally, the car will also indicate to me that I should keep my hands on the steering wheel when I typically drive with BOTH hands on the steering wheel.
My signals completely stopped working. Cameras are not showing from either side mirror either. Tried turning off and turning on the car and it still does not come back on.
This Tucson Limited has 3500 miles on it from purchase last September - 2022. Less than 1/2 mile from home and accelerating to about 35mph the engine lost power where speed reduced to about 20mph, acted like air intake was being choked. Did not see any caution lights on the dash. I coasted for 30 feet - luckily the street had no traffic - and the engine began to operate normally. I continued traveling about 2 miles and it happened again but briefly - still on town roads, continued driving and it happened once again climbing a hill. Made it part way up and power came back. Continued driving to destination another 2 miles, parked the car for about 45 minutes, came back, car started normally, drove home without incident. If this occurred on a busy road or highway I'm sure the trip would have ended in an accident. I believe this is a dangerous fault. Car is in for service now and they say the ECU was updated. Hope that corrected the problem as my wife refuses to drive it without some confidence level improvement.
Check Engine Light comes on randomly.
-There are 3 problems. The 1st and most dangerous, is a combo of the engine, transmission, and fuel system. The 2nd is malfunctioning sensors. The 3rd is water leaking in under my glove box onto the floor mat. The car upon 3 different occasions has stopped accelerating in the middle of traffic. 1st: the car would not go past 30mph and it stuttered/ shook. I parked and turned the car off, but 5 minutes later it reset and ran "normal". The 2nd time in Dec 2022, I was on Annapolis Rd.(Maryland) at about 10pm while alone. It would not accelerate past 35mph, the check engine light came on, and the engine/transmission started shaking and stuttering. I was almost rear ended so I pulled over. The next day when I called the dealership, the car had once again reset itself. The dealer brushed me off, said the cars are so computerized that if they couldn't replicate it they couldn't fix it and said they were backed up on appointments. The 3rd time, the car stopped accelerating on the beltway as I was taking my exit home, almost got rear ended, as I was pulling off the exit and trying to pull over the car started producing white smoke and the smell of gas, the engine control system (1st time of these 3 instances) alerted to shut the car down. The gear shift would not work properly while trying to shut it off. It massively leaked gas out of the vehicle and into the oil/ oil filter. While broken down, multiple cars almost ran into it as it had shut down after a major intersection. The car almost exploded/ caught fire. It was towed to an autobody shop to be inspected as I did not trust the dealership. No repairs were made. Only an oil change and new oil filter. There was a random misfire code. But ran normally once reset. There was no damage that he inspected and called it a Lemon. The dealer has the car, and has yet to diagnose it or give me a loaner. All regular maintenance performed and all system checks have come back normal up to this point.
Sudden braking / collision warning. Approximately 10 times in reverse at a very low speed. 2 times in forward Drive (once at a very low speed & once at approximately 30 mph). Dash constantly alternates between warnings for Uneven Roads Ahead and Slippery Roads Ahead. I took it to Brookshire Hyundai service on 7/19/23. I was told that Hyundai is aware of the problem but doesn’t know how to fix it so just take my car home and check back to see if they have a fix in a month or so.
Car intermittently will loose power (shortly after commencement of driving). This will remedy itself by shutting off engine and restarting. This has happened 4 or 5 times within the fist 3,000 miles. This is a vehicle and traffic SAFETY issue that could cause lives!
I was driving on the highway, and at roughly 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost power; it seemed to regain function momentarily, and then the check engine light went on, and then the vehicle shut down. The vehicle was then rolling. Thankfully I was able to throw hazards on quick enough and the vehicles around me were alert enough not to collide into my vehicle and I was able to get the vehicle over to the shoulder before the lost momentum. The vehicle was then towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. The dealership informed me that the engine produced code P030200, meaning that the fuel injector on Cylinder 2 had failed. They were able to replace it. The vehicle was at 24188 miles at the time.
Constantly having warning lights on, car jerking into other lanes, emergency braking randomly, brakes went to the floor and car propelled through an intersection
My vehicle wouldn't start.3 warning indicator lights came on. I had just driven my car 4 hours ago and was going to delivery a cake. My car was parked in my garage. I pushed starter but vehicle wouldn't start. Had to push starter several times before indicator lights would shout off. Had to have vehicle towed to dealership on 7/9/23
Without any warning indicator my 2022 Hyundai Tucson (11850 miles on car) stalled on the road. I received an alert on my phone from Hyundai, after the car shut down that there was a system failure. Car was towed to Pugi Hyundai dealership (where I purchased in new in Jan. 2022) and after several days I was advised the following: Cause: P0303 Cylinder #3 misfire active. Hyundai technical service Bulletin 23-FL-002H-1 addressed concern. 20DA14R1 Replace 1 GDI fuel injector which includes ((1) injector assey-fuel, (3) combustion seal ring, (1) pipe-high pressure, (4 ) k-Bolt. The dealership and Hyundai Corp. state that until the vehicle breaks down they aren't able to replace the KNOWN defective parts. Therefore, I am left driving a vehicle that WITHOUT warning can stall on the road which is a MAJOR safety risk!!!! This is absolutely not acceptable. This should be a recall! The dealership stated they can replace the remailing 3 fuel injectors for $799.00 pre-tax. I asked what batch of fuel injectors are they using and the Service Manager stated the new and improved. The old batch was discarded!!!! How is this legal??????
Engine light is on at 6,000 miles, they fixed but on again a month after repair.
My pregnant wife’s 2022 Hyundai Tucson lost engine power while on the interstate with our 16 month toddler in the car. Luckily she was able to get off the interstate and into a safe parking lot. The car only has 23000 miles and has been kept up with Hyundai’s scheduled maintenance from their dealership. The engine is knocking and experiencing rough idle. Once I arrived I was able to read that there was an engine cylinder 2 misfire. About an hour later the “MyHyundai” app sent the same error codes. It took the tow truck driver 15 minutes to go 10 feet to the flat bed as the car would turn its self off. Incredibly dangerous for a car less than two years old. I hate that I might’ve gotten my wife and son such a dangerous vehicle.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for an alternator replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at 45,000 however, upon retrieval of the vehicle, the mileage was 29,000. While driving, the idle START/STOP became inoperable. The radio failed to shut off and caused the battery to be drained. The contact called the dealer who informed him it would take six weeks for the battery to recalibrate. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
New 2022 tucson limited power train stalled, would not accelerate randomly while on the highway in NJ on [XXX]. Had to get to side of the road and put hazards on as was unable to accelerate past 40mph in a 65mph zone. Once turning off the car, the electrical systems reset. It was crazy i only had the car for 200miles. Thank God it was a leased car. Flash forward it occurred twice before hitting 1k miles. Took it to get serviced and service department had no idea and said nothing was found to be the cause after the second time it stalled. Other incident was around 20k miles gas lock latch broke somehow and couldn't open gas tank to put gas in car. Went to 3 dealerships, 2 couldn't see me without an appointment. Had to get it snapped off then come back to get car serviced which took 2 additional hrs. Unreliable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving our 2022 Hyundai Tucson, with panoramic sunroof, on the highway my wife and son suddenly heard a very loud bang, like a gunshot. After pulling over an inspection of the car found the sunroof had completely shattered and there was a large hole in the roof. Fortunately, the interior fabric cover was closed otherwise they would have been showered with shattered glass while driving. When this occurred there was no indication of any flying or falling objects and inspection of the glass shards captured by the fabric cover didn't show anything but glass, no rocks, etc.
All electrical systems proceeded to malfunction with the check engine and driver safety system warnings blaring. Vehicle proceeded to accelerate from 10-40 mph on its own for approximately 400 meters on the freeway. Vehicle brake and acceleration system did not respond to any driver input for approximately the entire length. Vehicle then proceeded to respond normally temporarily allowing us to pull over to a nearby parking lot and engage the emergency parking brake and out the gear into park. Transmission gear indicator then proceeded to switch randomly from Drive to neutral to park and repeating with infotainment system glitching. After engine was shut off and given time it was restarted and vehicle operated normally. Vehicle is currently under diagnosis with service center (Huffines Hyundai McKinney).
On 6/2/2023, my 16 year old Granddaughter was involved in a head on collision involving a driver who ran a red light. Upon impact of the two vehicles, none of the airbags in my Granddaughter's 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL deployed. The impact was so severe that the Hyundai Tucson was totaled. My Granddaughter and her passenger's safety were severely at risk because of this malfunction! To my knowledge, no problem of this nature has been reproduced for confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The car is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representative. The Police and EMT on the scene saw that the airbags did not deploy. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai Corporate Office in Alabama. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
On two occasions, both on busy highways traveling at about 65mph the engine just quit running. Very scary but fortunately was able to drift to the side of the road and wait for assistance. The car was towed to the nearest dealer two hours from my home. After the fuel injectors were replaced it was returned to us two weeks later. It only had 9,000 miles on it. This is a very dangerous problem to just stop running with no warning. We could have been hit from behind and killed.
On Friday 05.26.2023 I was driving on the highway and lost all acceleration power to the vehicle and was almost rear ended by a semi. Iwas able to pull off the road but had no power of more than 2 MPH to do so. No warning lights came on, no engine error codes. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership pending review. I have only 1,355 miles on the vehicle. I am afraid to drive this car.
