NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Hyundai Tucson. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches). The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were on back order. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure.
There has been an urgent safety recall with no fix for 4 months. I need the issue to be resolved so that my vehicle is no longer a safety hazard, but both the dealership I purchased it from and the manufacturer have stated that it's not a big deal.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact was informed by the Turo App that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I am reporting a repeated brake system issue on my 2024 Hyundai Tucson involving premature rotor warping and brake failure at very low mileage. On April 30, 2025 (11,007 miles), I first noticed significant vibration and shaking when braking. On May 29, 2025, Colonial Hyundai diagnosed the issue and resurfaced the brakes under warranty (Hyundai case #40826529). The issue persisted immediately after repair, and on June 13, 2025, I was informed that both front and rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. On June 19, 2025, all brakes and rotors were replaced under warranty, resolving the issue temporarily. Less than 8 months later, on February 12, 2026 (under 10,000 additional miles), the same braking vibration returned. The original dealer attributed the issue to driving behavior. At Hyundai’s direction, I sought a second opinion on February 26, 2026 at Piazza Hyundai of West Chester. They confirmed that the brakes and rotors again required replacement and indicated this was unusual for such low mileage. On March 16, 2026, despite the dealer’s findings, Hyundai Corporate declined to cover the repair under warranty. This vehicle has now required three brake-related repairs within a short period and low mileage, including resurfacing and full rotor replacement, followed by another failure. This pattern suggests a potential defect in the braking system, materials, or related components, rather than normal wear. Component/System Failed: The failure involves the braking system, specifically repeated warping/failure of front and rear brake rotors and premature brake wear. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. When braking, the vehicle experiences significant vibration and shaking in the steering wheel and chassis, which affects braking smoothness and control. This condition can reduce driver confidence, increase stopping distance, and may lead to loss of control during braking, particularly at highway speeds or in emergency stop.
While driving at approximately 70 mph on a highway under normal conditions, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power. A check engine light illuminated at the time of the failure, and the vehicle was unable to maintain normal acceleration or consistent speed. The loss of power created a hazardous situation in active traffic, as the vehicle could not safely maintain speed with surrounding vehicles. The vehicle was later inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed severe internal engine damage, including cylinder damage and engine misfire requiring major repair or replacement. No clear root cause has been provided. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms before the incident. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: NONE OBSERVED. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. DEALER CONFIRMATION: YES. MANUFACTURER INSPECTION: UNKNOWN.
I am submitting a vehicle safety complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The vehicle has a recurring engine warning issue (code P0471) that has not been resolved despite multiple repair attempts by an authorized Hyundai dealership. Additionally, there is a concerning discrepancy regarding vehicle usage while in dealership custody. My records indicate a substantial increase in mileage during service, which is not reflected in official service documentation. This raises concerns about vehicle handling and accountability. Hyundai has declined to escalate or properly address the issue and has advised that they will continue repair attempts without further resolution. Given the recurring nature of the issue and the lack of accountability, I am concerned about potential safety risks. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and recorded as part of any ongoing safety investigations.
My car was parked, without any trees or other objects that could possibly damage my car near by, and the glass on my front windshield cracked for absolutely no reason. It starts where the glass attached to the car and spreads to the middle of my windshield. I believe there is an installation defect because this car is only 2 years old and has never had any damage to it. I also read that this is a common problem with other Hyundai models.
The problem first appeared after I bought my car to the dealership to replace an amplifier. Since then, my car has been there twice and they have not been able to identify the problem. I’m going back-and-forth with the dealership and hyundai corporation. after numerous incidents with my other vehicles, I no longer trust this place to repair and at this time it’s a safety issue while I’m driving. I work in a school district in [XXX] when the kids are around I need my front and back up cameras to work. it’s a safety concern for me and I need your advice. Driving to work, going into a turn with no obstructions my car frequently alerts to a "collision warning" that is not there. Additionally, I have been driving on the highway, with no obstructions in front of me and my car emergency brake despite an emergency not being present. In both instances, it is extremely distracting and induces anxiety as I am alerted of a threat that is not there. Further at highway speeds (65-70 mph) on the highway, and braking despite having no emergency nearly caused an accident. I was able to push further down on the gas to force the car to keep going to not stop on the highway. The collision warning has been an issue since purchase of the car in June 2024, the emergency brake occurred in February 2026.
I am submitting this complaint regarding Hyundai Safety Recall #290 (NHTSA Recall No. 25V893) as it applies to my vehicle, VIN [XXX] . I received the official recall notice by mail on February 13, 2026. The recall identifies a defect involving the tow hitch wiring harness control module, which may allow water intrusion. According to the recall documentation, this defect can cause inoperative stop lamps and, in rare cases, an electrical short that could result in overheating or a vehicle fire. Since receiving the notice, I have contacted Hyundai Motor America corporate customer care three separate times seeking escalation and guidance on how to safely address this recall. During each call, Hyundai stated that no repair solution, parts availability, or timeline exists for remedying the defect. Despite the recall involving a documented fire risk and potential brake/stop lamp failure, Hyundai representatives advised me that I could continue driving the vehicle while waiting indefinitely for a remedy. No interim safety measures, inspections, alternative repairs, or mitigation steps were offered. I am concerned that Hyundai is failing to properly execute a federally mandated safety recall and is placing consumers in the position of operating vehicles with known, unresolved safety defects. Being advised to continue driving under these circumstances creates a risk to vehicle occupants and to other motorists. I am requesting that NHTSA review Hyundai’s handling of Recall #290, specifically regarding recall remedy delays, lack of escalation, and failure to mitigate an acknowledged safety risk, and take any enforcement or compliance action deemed appropriate. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I’d like to file a complaint regarding Hyundai Recall#290, a potential fire hazard with my cars “trailer wiring harness accessory module”, which Hyundai has not offered a remedy at this time. I spoke to Hyundai’s customer service representative yesterday (3/18/26) about this recall that’s now over a month old, and asked if I could get reimbursed for my out of pocket costs to remove the hitch’s wiring at a Hyundai dealership. The rep said Hyundai won’t pay for my out of pocket cost to remove the harness wiring because they don’t have an official “remedy” yet. My local Hyundai dealership said the cost to unplug/remove the wiring would be about $200, which in my opinion would solve the problem and certainly is a “remedy”. Hyundai refuses to reimburse me this cost even though they have a Hyundai recall reimbursement program for out of pocket expenses due to recall issues. My complaint: 1 - Hyundai has failed to provide a no cost recall remedy within a reasonable period of time. 2 - if I choose to pay for removal of the wiring, my out of pocket cost of $200 will not be reimbursed by Hyundai. 3 - Hyundai’s recall says I could continue to drive my 2024 Hyundai Tucson, but apparently if the car gets wet, the wiring could ignite and cause a fire, which I’m not very comfortable with. 4 - I don’t use the trailer harness module at all since I bought the car used from the original owner, so removing the entire harness would be a reasonable solution and allay the fire risk. Thank you.
On Wednesday February 4, 2026 my car began to shake and shudder and almost stall out and the check engine light came on again. I had just gotten my car back from Burlington Hyundai the day before for the same problem. I drove it straight to the dealership for service. This time, they said it was a problem with the EGR system. They replaced some things and I got my car back on Friday February 13, 2026.
On Saturday January 31, 2026, I was driving and the tachometer started to go low like the car was going to stall out and the car began to shake. Then the check engine light came on. I was afraid to drive it, so I parked it in a church parking lot and had it towed to Burlington Hyundai on Sunday February 1, 2026. On Monday February 2, 2026 Burlington Hyundai said there was a problem with the spark plugs and that was why the check engine light came on. They replaced the spark plugs and it was covered under warranty. I got my car back on Tuesday February 3, 2026.
I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car.
The same incident has occurred 4 times ( [XXX] While driving on the freeway in light traffic and no vehicles in front. The forward collision sensor triggered dropping the vehicle in speed approx 30 mph almost instantaneously. This is San Diego so no snow, rain or sleet and we were driving eastbound each time with the sun at our back. Hyundai kept the car for a week for diagnostics and found nothing. We have since escalated to corporate and are going in for another round of diagnostics. We have been exceptionally fortunate that we were not rear-ended. We have since installed a dash-cam to record the next event INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Component: Engine/Powertrain/Electrical System Incident Description: I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening "Loss of Motive Power" (Dead Pedal) in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson (Alabama-built). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to respond to throttle input during high-risk maneuvers, specifically while merging into 45+ MPH traffic. The vehicle "chugs" and stalls, refusing to exceed 15 MPH despite full accelerator depression. This defect leaves the vehicle and its occupants stranded and defenseless in the path of oncoming high-speed traffic. Technical Context: This vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA Recall 23V-526 (Hyundai Campaign 246) for electronic controller damage that can cause "CAN communication disruptions." I believe the "Dead Pedal" failure is a direct result of these communication disruptions between the engine and transmission control modules. Furthermore, Hyundai has issued TSB #24-AT-001H-1 for "Hesitation when accelerating," yet the authorized dealer (Ed Voyles Hyundai) has been unable to remedy the defect after 84 cumulative days out of service. Safety Risk: This is not a convenience issue; it is a critical safety failure. The unpredictable nature of the power loss makes it impossible to safely judge gaps in traffic. The vehicle effectively becomes a stationary object on active roadways without warning. Manufacturer Response: The manufacturer has been formally notified via certified legal counsel. Despite 79 consecutive days in the current repair attempt (since Jan 16, 2026), the manufacturer has failed to provide a fix or acknowledge the severity of the safety risk. An informal third-party evaluator attempted to dismiss the claim despite the vehicle's documented inability to maintain motive power. We are requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of Recall 23V-526 and TSB #24-AT-001H-1, as these measures have failed to resolve this life-threatening "Dead Pedal" condition in my vehicle.
My 2024 SEL hybrid has a very annoying acceleration delay after a full or partial stop. The delay has occurred many times. It is present no matter which mode the car is on. It is not a matter of slow acceleration, but a 1-2 second delay of anything happening after I press the pedal. this could be a safety issue when you're at a stop sign and you need to proceed and you can't go.
My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contacted a second dealer, who said they don't have a reader. I inspected the floormats before the car was towed, as that was an initial suspect, but it was locked in and clearly there was no obstruction. She was wearing tennis shoes and doesn't recall ever having an instance of hitting the wrong pedal in any vehicle. She thinks she was only coasting, not even touching the brake yet.
I was rear-ended at an extremely high speed by an intoxicated driver. The impact from being rear-ended pushed my vehicle into another car, damaging the front and rear of my vehicle. My car was a 2024 Tucson with 14,646 miles in perfect condition. No warning lights were on the vehicle, as I consistently take excellent care of my cars. The airbags did not deploy. My car was totaled. I had several injuries from the accident.
While operating the vehicle, an intermittent audible warning sound occurs without any corresponding alert, message, or notification displayed on the dashboard or infotainment screen. The specific component or system causing the warning is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition puts my safety at risk because the unexplained warning sound occurs while driving and causes me to divert my attention from the road in an attempt to identify the source or meaning of the alert, creating a driver distraction. The issue has been reproduced multiple times under normal driving conditions. I demonstrated the condition to the dealership and provided video evidence; however, the issue has not been diagnosed or confirmed, and no root cause has been identified. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, but no explanation or resolution has been provided. The manufacturer is aware of the issue through an open case. There were no warning lamps, messages, or prior indicators associated with this condition. The audible warning occurs without any visible alert or explanation. The condition began shortly after purchase in November 2025 and was later documented and demonstrated to the dealership in January 2026.
(NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) I am updating my existing complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson (NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) for an ongoing safety concern involving an intermittent warning chime while driving. This issue began shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Nov 2025 and has been reported to the dealership multiple times over several months. The warning chime occurs randomly while driving without any visible warning message or dashboard alert. This creates uncertainty because I do not know what the vehicle is trying to warn me about, which is distracting and creates a safety concern while driving. The dealership previously replaced both front seatbelt buckle assemblies after identifying intermittent high resistance as a possible cause. However, after that repair was completed, the warning chime occurred again while I was driving to the dealership for a follow-up visit. This confirmed that the issue was not fully resolved. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership, and they are now performing further diagnosis. I was advised that if the issue reoccurred, the next possible areas for diagnosis could involve the instrument cluster or the control module, both of which are safety-related systems connected to warning alerts and seatbelt functions. In addition, during this same visit, the dealership confirmed there is an actual oil leak requiring repair. This is significant because when I first raised this concern after an outside inspection in December 2025, I was told it was likely leftover residue from a prior oil change. The dealership has now confirmed it is a real leak and kept the vehicle for repair while providing a loaner vehicle. Because this vehicle was sold as Certified Pre-Owned and these safety and mechanical concerns continue shortly after purchase, I remain concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle.
I had to retrieve something from the back of my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SUV, opened the back door. I retrieved several items and placed them in a safe area. Got back into my vehicle and proceeded to drive into my garage (with the rear door fully open). Next thing I heard was my Tucson crashing into my garage door. I had no warnings, flashing lights or audio sounds nothing that would help me avoid that collision. The reason I purchased this particular vehicle was because it comes with sensors and cameras completely around the vehicle (including the rear). In fact on the rear door is sensor and a camera. In fact I can park the Tucson out of the vehicle. The sensors will ensure that it will not collide with anything. Same is true in a very tight parking spot. Anyway the other 4 passenger doors have several warning signals. From low ibeeping to very loud annoying audio sounds that you cannot ignore. I’ve contacted Hyundai Motor America and they’ve denied my complaint. They claim that the extent of the “warning is a red light on the dash”. My local dealership kept my Tucson for 11 days not knowing what to do and how to resolve this problem. I’ve come to reply on the audio warning system, and as a Senior Citizen, not to look at the dash to prevent collisions. This is very serious ,especially, if that door is not locked while I’m driving, any thing can push open the door, resulting in injury or death to people in the vehicle or on the road. This is compounded by the fact that Hyundai produces many types of SUVs, including Genesis.
At high speeds above 40 MPH vehicle automatically brakes with no vehicle or objects in front while vehicle is in operation. Very concerning when driving on interstate.
The panoramic sunroof in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited shattered while driving on the interstate. It sounded like an explosion and frightened me while driving. I was able to maintain control of my vehicle, and fortunately, my headliner was closed, preventing glass from falling on me. The flying debris created a hazard for other drivers. I took my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership where I purchased it, and I am awaiting a response from the Service Manager for repair. The vehicle is less than a year old and has less than 9,000 miles on it.
On October 8, 2025, my car's tachometer started to dip and my car began to shake like it was going to stall as I approached a traffic light. The check engine light came on. I was close to my destination (about a 1/4 mile) so I drove to the parking lot and turned off the car. I started it again and the check engine light turned off and the car was running fine. On October 13, 2025, I took my car in for a routine oil change to a local repair shop and when they tried to reset the oil change reminder, the system would not work. Within a day, the entire computer system for the radio, warning systems, air conditioner/heat, etc, would not work. I took it to Burlington Hyundai on October 15, 2025 and they had to replace the CPU in the car. I got my car back on October 22, 2025. They said the check engine light did not come on again. It was covered under my warranty. I had my brakes replaced while they had the car out of convenience.
See attached document for complaint.
The contact owned a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife was reversing out of the work parking space, the brake pedal was depressed, and when the gear shift was shifted into drive(D), the vehicle then accelerated independently. The contact stated that the engine revved, hit a parked vehicle, bounced off that vehicle, and continued to accelerate independently, abruptly veered the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting a tree. The contact's vehicle then hit a second parked vehicle, where it came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated, and none of the warning alarms sounded. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to a collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that before the vehicle stalled, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated before the instrument cluster went black. The contact pulled over and shifted to park(P) and was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The contact stated that the failure had occurred intermittently and at various speeds. The vehicle also occurred while stopped at a traffic signal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
Driving 70 on the interstate without any cars in front or side of me and car auto hard braked down to 60 and red emergency brake light was on. An 18 wheeler was behind me. Luckily no injuries or accidents happened.
As I am driving on the Garden State Parkway on sunny days and rainy days at approx 70-75 mph the Emergency Braking System notification activated on the dashboard in red, a noise activates and the car feels like it is going to stop short. This seems to occur about one and a half hours into my ride There are no cars in front of me or directly next to me. This occurs randomly and has happened seven or eight times since I leased the car in December 2024. It is very scary and the service techs at the dealership where I leased it cannot duplicate the occurrence because it is random. I feel unsafe driving the car because I am afraid at some point the car may stop on the highway. As it is now it feels like it is going to stop because it slows down.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (TRAILER HITCHES); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the third brake light remained illuminated after the vehicle was turned off and the key was removed from the ignition. The tow hitch wiring harness was replaced but the failure persisted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
All of a sudden my 2024 Tucson gages indicated emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds and the front end went down as though I was stopping (scared me ). I was so happy no one was behind me. No one really behind me or to my left. Only one car to the right of me in another lane. Also, had to replace air bag at 6176 miles
Owner [XXX] [XXX] . Driver [XXX] [XXX] ) [XXX] All of a sudden my 2024 Tucson vin: [XXX] gages indicated emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds and the front end went down ,(my wife and I went foward ) as though I was stopping (scared me ). It was the forward collision avoidance sys. I was so happy no one was behind me. Avoided a rear end collision. [XXX] we were Traveling west in the left lane of a three lane highway. I released the gas pedal to make a left turn in a left turn lane. The light was red. No one really behind me or to my left. Only one car to the right of me in another lane. This is dangerous! This is my wife’s car. Enough said!!!! Car was at the dealer for a couple of hours. They could not duplicate. Said it could have been my floor mat “that made my emergency lights come on the dash.” “STUPID” This occurred the day after picking up my car from the dealer. Feb. 28, Hyundai replaced the Air bag. STS light came on. Picked the car up Monday. Today [XXX] Thursday) the STS Airbag light came on again. The bag was replaced again. [XXX] the front collision sys emergency stop sys alerted again. Again, Hyundai declared they could not duplicate. This is an unsafe car. A death trap. Hyundai warns death may occur if using while driving can cause death. They also warn us using the emergency brake while driving may damage the brakes or cause a collision. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in June. Since February 28, 2025 the SRS indicator lights have come on twice. Hyundai replaced the airbag twice. In March, the emergency brake system red lights illuminated, and the car came to an abrupt stop. Luckily, there were no Cars behind me. Seconds later, the car resumed, and the lights disappeared. Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again. No cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate. The car has less than 8000 miles. I won’t allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone. It’s unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car. I will send attachments of invoices, NHTSA complaints and Hyundai manual info about unsafe condition.
Forward Collision Emergency Braking. Have had this happen on 5 different occasions. Very dangerous. The vehicle without warning slams on the emergency brakes and issues a warning. Took into dealer and they could find NO error codes and did nothing. First time this happened I thought maybe a bag or something flew up and obscured the forward facing sensors. Pulled over and checked nothing. Then 3 times it happened within 5 minutes. Pulled over and sensors looked fine no dirt or anything on the sensors. Can not drive car with this and so have been disabling the system except for a warning tone. Today it activated it again. Usually when I approach something the sensors turn yellow and then red when getting real close to an object. But today when it activated when not close to anything and driving down the road all the forward sensors activated with the warning but it was gray. (not yellow or red) Since I had it on warning only the brakes did not activate. This is very dangerous and unless you disable the automatic emergency braking could lead someone to plow into the backend of the SUV and it evidentially does not cause error codes. Yes,someone can contact me concerning this. This has happened multiple times. Intermittently.
My a/c system has a strong mold/mildew smell. The dealership flushed the system and said a bunch of black mold came out. It has been 3 months and the issue is back. It can’t possibly be safe and healthy to be constantly breathing in mold spores. I have seen a ton of other owners complaining about the same issue. I definitely think the a/c drain design is faulty in some regard.
While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson at highway speeds on a clear day with no surrounding traffic, I was startled by an extremely loud bang that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of shattered glass rained down inside the passenger cabin, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This incident was a traumatic experience. The sudden and unexpected event had the potential to cause serious injury to the driver, as well as increase the risk of a collision due to the shock and distraction it caused. Additionally, other pieces of shattered glass were propelled from the vehicle, posing a risk of injury or damage to other drivers on the road. Upon physical inspection, it was noted that the glass from the panoramic sunroof was bowed upwards, which suggests the explosion originated from within the sunroof and NOT an external factor such as road debris or a rock. The vehicle, which is less than a year old, is currently at the Hyundai dealership pending an investigation. Given the severity of the incident and the potential risks to driver and passenger safety, I strongly recommend that a recall be issued or a comprehensive investigation be initiated by the NHTSA to prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents. Safety must be a priority, and swift action is necessary to ensure that no other drivers or passengers are at risk of similar events.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the manual speed limit assist erroneously activated causing the vehicle to suddenly decelerate, and the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Sudden loss of speed for no reason. was traveling at 35 mph when vehicle suddenly dropped to 22 mph. Stepped on gas with no response. I know the 22 mph because it showed up on warning illuminator. Car behind me almost hit me because he had no indication (prior warning). Turned off at closest exit, turned vehicle off then on restart things were normal. Took to dealer and they found nothing in computer code or mechanical to explain why this happened. Am an older women afraid what will happen if repeats on highway going 70+ mph. Please made Hyundia find and fix.
My car automatically braked in the middle of an intersection and caused my vehicle to be rear-ended. This was the third time automatic braking engaged when it should not have been. In the most recent incident on [XXX] I was injured and had to have medical attention. I googled automatic braking and there were many reports of automatic braking being deployed when it should not have been. Horns failing after being replaced by Hyundai. A kid was running and heading on a path in front of the SUV. Pushed the horn and another failure. Luckily the brakes work - the kid didn't stop. First attempt to fix: 14,612 miles - current miles at 2nd failure 17463.
On multiple occasions the vehicle has not transferred from EV to mechanical mode and has stalled out. Shutting the car and restarting it resolved the problem each time. Hyundai has not been able to find the fault after multiple trips to the dealership and no code is recorded or reported. I bought a code reader and the last time this occurred recorded a code. P1120 $07e8Pd I brought the car back into Hyundai and reported the code to- It was not saved in the car's memory. They have had the car for over 3 weeks now and repairs have not been completed.
While sitting in stopped traffic on the interstate in the dark in the rain on 11/25/2024 my car was in drive; my foot was on the brake. Twice the car rolled away despite my attempts to brake or put the car in Park (I shoved the shifter into Park and the car continued to roll). I rolled into the back of a semi because I could not get my vehicle to stop. This had already been noted as a problem with 2024 Tucsons, yet your search engine tells me there are 0 unrepaired recalls for my car. I want to call this out as an unrepaired recall. I have left it with the Hyundai dealer at the moment. They tell me if they cannot make the problem happen for them they won't do anything to fix my car. This is a dangerous situation for me and for anyone with a Tucson that may have the same problem.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the horn was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the horn needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB: 23-BE-008H (Horn Assembly); however, the VIN was not included in the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 68,412.
Headlights get covered with slush and snow while driving causing you to lose vision of the roadway at night. You are not able to see creating a safety risk to you and others on the road, potentially causing an accident that would cause serious injuries or death. Yes, it can be inspected upon request. Notified our dealer and was advised that this has never been brought to their attention as a problem from any other buyer. During our last vehicle service at our dealership when notifying them of the concern no issues with the vehicle were found. Warning lamp (obstruction) appears while driving. When the warning lamp illuminates, we need to pull over (sometimes not in a safe environment), wipe the slush/snow off of the headlights and proceed traveling. After wiping the headlights off, warning lamp on dashboard returns to normal operations.
Two incidents while driving on the highway. 1. Emergency braking activated on its own. No cars around me. It was a rural area. The red emergency braking activated light showed up and my car braked but resumed driving. This is a new car with less than 4k miles on it. 2. The hands free assist and cruise control were activated. My care swerved to the right abruptly. My hands were on the wheel and I was able to correct this but this is very concerning as my daughter drives this car on mountain roads when she is going to college. I have read online reports when others driving the same make, model and year vehicle.
Forward radar sensor pass side lower grill/bumper area. 1st told a sensor recall but after 3 hrs and then seeing the vehicle in the shop with the entire front bumper clip removed the sensor was out of its driver side socket and 1 side flopping around which may have caused a small dimple from the inside to pop out on the 6x5 cover that is the entire lower rubber/plastic black bumper/grill. Told the vehicle was hit, YET no visible damage to bumpers or painted surface can be found by their 2 dealerships and their 1 body shop, + 2 mangers, and 1 independent collision shop.1 manager drove the vehicle 10/11 and stated after "is operating as it should". Warnings have come on again since then refueling at additional 77 mile and then at 92 miles 10/14. Hartford ins has been notified and pending I hope an inspection. Vehicle purchased 1st March 2024, 1st warning at 5336mies currently at 5421 miles. They triggered the service engine light and stated via onboard computer it was an issue with a lower front driver side radiator something that may have been bumped while taking off the front clip, which they chipped and area and left a bit of gap at the fender connection. Other than the small dimple on the plastic from what I believe the sensor had been bouncing against, there is no damage. A safelight windshield company stated there is a notice/recall on the "auto headlight sensor on dash" but they do not cal them, only the optic sensor top center of windshield. BUT per the manual that top sensor plus lower radar can control the forward crash, cruise setup and auto braking. Need some help since my firm works with all auto/tire mfg and conducts DOT tire testing for USA and worldwide independent firms/gov's.
Car throttle, AC, Cruise control, car transmission and gears not correct, radio turns off completely and messes up CarPlay. Also no updated radio. Scary car is still new with all of these issues.
Both horns failed in less than 15k miles. Any time spent on the internet shows this is a known issue. Reporting as a safety problem as you will not know they are gone until you need them to warn another car or person and you have no sound. Luckily I was not speeding and paying attention but the kid who rode a bike in front of me when my horns failed - wondered right out. I stopped just short of them. Only resulting in them falling over when they finally saw me and freaked out/fell over. Horns are located extremely close to the ground and can only be accessed if you remove the entire front bumper and side trim. So this isn't an easy fix for most people when/if they go out.
While driving in light traffic, speed at 45 mph, my Tucson alerted me with a beep, steering wheel vibrated and a red alert on the dash was present for about 3 seconds then the speed automatically slows down to 15 mph all on its own while my foot is still on the accelerator. This has occurred at a minimum 6 times. I purchased this vehicle brand new and driving it off the lot it had 22 miles on it. I've taken it to a Hyundai dealership, and they can't figure out what it wrong with it. I feel very unsafe and unhappy now of this major safety concern. This has high probability of getting rear ended. I see that this has been occurring with various years of Hyundai and am wondering why there has not been a recall on this issue. I owned a Hyundai prior to this 2024 (Tucson 2011) and it was wonderful. This is highly concerning for me, and I am not confidant driving this vehicle and will more than likely trade it in for another vehicle. Can someone please research this issue with the automatic emergency brake system. This can autonomously go off whether you are in traffic, highway, street or completely zero vehicles or pedestrians around.
