THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON AND STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING.
VEHICLE FREQUENTLY IS LOCKED INTO GEAR, RECENTLY STUCK IN PARK WHILE BLOCKING A BUSY DRIVE-THRU. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO BECOME STUCK IN DRIVE MAKING IN NEARLY IMPOSIBLE TO SAFELY LEAVE THE VEHICLE PARKED IN OUR ENCLOSED GARAGE. THIS HAS BECOME A FREQUENTLY OCCURING ISSUE AND MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE THAN WE PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT.
OIL DRIPS FROM THE ENGINE ONTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL. INTERIM RECALL WITH INTERIM REPAIR GIVEN. RECALL CLOSED IN 2015 WITH NO PERMANENT REPAIR. THIS IS MY FOURTH ALTERNATOR TO GO BAD. WITH THE LAST REPAIR MADE UNDER THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V-415. THE DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE SITUATION CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DIE SUDDENLY PUTTING THE OCCUPANTS IN THE CAR IN DANGER. THIS LAST TIME THE CAR DIED WITH MY WIFE DRIVING IN THE TRAVEL LANE OF ROUTE 9 SOUTH IN HOWELL NJ.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMED AND VARIOUS INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE STEERING ASSIST OPERATED IMPROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR EXPERIENCED OIL DAMAGE DUE TO AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IN DECEMBER 2014 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS LIT ON MY DASH. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLED IN AN INCIDENT. I CAME OUT ONE DAY & MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON.
A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY ALSO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.

WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT OIL LEAKED ONTO THE ALTERNATOR DUE TO A FAULTY GASKET. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT IN 2010, THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000(ENGINE), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
ESC OFF LIGHT STAYS ON DESPITE PUSHING BUTTON TO TURN ON ESC, UNTIL RESTART THEN WILL GO OFF. ALSO HAVE PROBLEM WITH GEAR SHIFTER NOT WANTING TO SHIFT AS IF IT IS STICKY. HERE AGAIN TURN OFF AND BACK ON PROBLEM GOES AWAY COMES BACK WITH ESC OFF PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM STARTS OFF AS CAR IS BEING DRIVEN.

THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
REGARDING SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: SWITCHES: BRAKE LIGHT RECALL FOR 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ, NHTSA REFERENCE #09V122000. MY 2007 VERACRUZ SUFFERS FROM SOME OF THE EXACT PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL BUT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL DESCRIBES THE FOLLOWING: "A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY ALSO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE." FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS THE ESC LIGHT ON MY 2007 VERACRUZ HAS ILLUMINATED PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN STARTING THE CAR, AND IT WILL REMAIN ON UNTIL THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. PRESSING THE ESC ON/OFF BUTTON ON THE DASH WILL NOT SHUT THE LIGHT OFF WHILE IN PARK OR DRIVING. TURNING THE CAR OFF IS THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM, THEIR ANSWER WAS THAT THE LIGHT ILLUMINATING IS NORMAL AND NOT TO WORRY. ALSO, FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS, PERIODICALLY THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. YOU MUST SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE CAR A FEW TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO OPERATE. I BELIEVE THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE RECALL AND MY VERACRUZ SHOULD BE INCLUDED SO THAT MY VEHICLE OPERATES PROPERLY. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK IN THE VALVE COVER GASKET CAUSING OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING TO FAIL AS WELL. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000 (ENGINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 183,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD TO CALL THE DEALER MANAGER. THE DEALER MANAGER WAS CONTACTED, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE CONTACT LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE. CASE NUMBER: 10212461 WAS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.
WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 25 TO 35 MILES AN HOUR THROUGH RESIDENTIAL AREAS THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MARLTON, NJ BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO DIAGNOSTIC TEST IF THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON (THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME). THIS HAPPENED AT 112,000 MILES AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING NOW AT 140,000 MILES WITH NO RESOLVE. I'VE HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED, THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHANGED AND HAD THE MECHANIC RIDE WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE TO WITNESS THE ISSUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED WITH THE MECHANIC IN THE CAR THEY STILL COULD NOT EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS THE CAUSE. I ASKED IF THEY COULD CHECK THE FUEL PUMP, BUT YET AGAIN THEY STATED THAT WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUN A TEST AS THEY NEED TO KNOW THE CODE THAT IS REGISTERING FOR THE ERROR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE WAS NOT REGISTERING WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V122000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY CAR BEING IN DRIVE AND THEN WHEN I STOP NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IT TO GO INTO PARK. THE ESC LIGHT IS ALSO ON.
RECALL FROM HYUNDAI: AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVE COVER GASKET COULD CAUSE ENOUGH OIL TO DROP ONTO THE ALTERNATOR TO DAMAGE IT, RESULTING IN A FAILURE OF THE CHARGING SYSTEM. IF THE ALTERNATOR IS DAMAGED, THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LAMP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL ILLUMINATE, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER AND THE VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING; AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT TELLING OWNERS THAT THIS RECALL EVENTUALLY CAUSES THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE AS IT HAPPENED TO ME AND I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR MORE THAN 3 WEEKS, WAITING TO HEAR FROM HYUNDAI CORPORATE IF THEY ARE GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO FAR, THEY HAVE NOT INDICATED ANYTHING. AS THE OIL IS LEAKING, THE CAR NEVER OPERATE AT THE OPTIMAL AMOUNT OF OIL, CAUSING FRICTION IN THE ENGINE WHICH EVENTUALLY BLOCKED THE PUMP SENDING THE OIL TO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE IN MY CAR. HYUNDAI HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE TO HELP RECTIFY THE SITUATION. CALLING ON THE SAFETY BUREAU FOR ACTIONS AND WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE SINCE MY RENTAL BILLS ARE ADDING UP. I HAD TO CHANGE MY ALTERNATOR TWICE, PRIOR TO THE DEALER HAVING TO CHANGE IT TWICE AS WELL WITHIN 4 YEARS DUE TO EXCESSIVE LEAKAGE OF OIL.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO MANUFACTURER STALLING REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM PAYMENTS FOR RECALL NOTICE 14V-415 REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A REPUTABLE MECHANIC, AFTER HYUNDAI REQUESTED THE CONSUMER GO TO THE DEALER, TO VERIFY THE WORK HAD BEEN DONE. *JB
ESC LIGHT CAME ON, GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK, DRIVE OR REVERSE UNLESS GEARSHIFT RELEASE BUTTON IS PUSHED. ESC LIGHT BEING ON RESULTS IN SHIFTER NOT MOVING, NO BRAKE LIGHTS, NO REVERSE LIGHT AT ANY TIME. THIS RECALL WAS MADE IN 2009 WAS REPAIRED AND THE SAME ISSUE HAS RETURNED BUT HYUNDAI WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THE RECALL IS CLOSED. IT IS CAMPAIGN 092 STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT. THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS BRAKES AND BRAKE LIGHTS SO WHILE DRIVING OTHER DRIVERS HAVE NO IDEA WHEN YOU ARE STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN RECALLED ONCE FIXED AND IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN SHOULD MEAN ANOTHER RECALL AND DIFFERENT FIX FOR THE VEHICLES. HYUNDAI WAS NOTIFIED YET REFUSES TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED ONCE. WE WERE TOLD TO HAVE IT FIXED AND WE COULD POSSIBLY RECEIVE A REFUND. THIS ISSUE IS CONTINUOUS AND HAPPENS WHILE PARKED, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND CITY STREETS.
TAKATA RECALL - WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE WENT OUT BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT THE NUT THAT FASTENS THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SECURE ENOUGH CAUSING THE BLADE TO BE TOTALLY INOPERABLE. EVEN WHEN THE NUT IS REFASTENED OR REPLACED, IT WILL LOOSEN DURING AN EXPECTED RAIN SEASON THAT REQUIRES MUCH USE. IT IS LIKELY THE STANDARD NUT FOR THIS DEVICE COULD BE REPLACED BY A LOCK NUT.

THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V472000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,835. ABS, AWD AND ESC LIGHTS COMING ON AND STAYING ON AT 90,000 MILES. THE ISSUE IS A FAULTY REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. DEALER WANTS $1,200 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR! THEY CLAIM THE SENSOR CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE REAR AXLE. THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE OVER AN INEXPENSIVE SENSOR. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THE AXLE MUST BE REPLACED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR.
THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS SLIDING ON ICY ROAD. ANOTHER CAR HIT THE VEHICLE WHILE TRYING TO AVOID THE COLLISION.THERE WAS A RECALL ON DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG HOWEVER BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FAILED TO DEPLOY AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE FACIAL SCARS THAT REQUIRE SURGERY. HYUNDAI INVESTED AND RESULTS HAVE NO BEEN DISCLOSED. *TT *JS
2 TIMES HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACE DUE TO A OIL GASKET LEAK WHICH WAS ON A RECALL. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE A FEW MONTHS LATER VEHICLE WAS LOOSING POWER LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING.,WENT BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER FOR THE ISSUE, THEY ADVISED BATTERY, HAD NEW BATTERY PUT IN VEHICLE, THE POWER STILL CONTINUE, THEN WAS TOLD NEEDED A TENSIONER AND SERPENTINE BELT AS THIS WAS BEING REPLACE THE TECH STATED OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE TIMING COVER WHICH DAMAGE THE THE ALTERNATOR FOR THE THIRD TIME. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OF HYUNDAI AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND FELT THAT THIS AS WELL WAS PART OF THE RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM BEHIND THE TIMING COVER (WHICH WOULD NOT BE APPARENT) THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IS ONCE THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN ON YOU) I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE AND GET BACK TO ME, TOOK 2 WEEKS TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM TO ADVISE THAT THE WARRANTY WAS UP AND THAT THERE WAS NO COVERAGE. I COULD NOT QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT A WARRANTY WOULD MATTER IN A SITUATION OF THIS NATURE THAT WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP $2,271 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY TOOK VEHICLE IN AGAIN FOR A DIFFERENT RECALL. REALLY HYUNDAI THIS ISN'T RIGHT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BELT TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK BEHIND THE TIMING VALVE AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. ..UPDATED 05/09/16 *BF
I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SAFETY WARRANTY WORK. CAR CITY HYUNDAI IN ST JOSEPH MISSOURI COMPLETED THE NATIONAL RECALL FOR OIL LEAKING ON TO THE ALTERNATOR . AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR APPROX 30 MILES THE DASH LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I HAVE SPOKE TO JOE 631613 FOR HYUNDAI HE IS NOT A PART OF HYUNDAI CORP. HE IS A CSR FOR SOME CALL CENTER. THEY ARE STATING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHANGES THE DID ON MY CAR AND THAT IT IS A SENSOR THAT HAS MAGICALLY WENT OUT AFTER THE RECALL WORK. MY ESC OFF LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK.I COULD HEAR CLICKING IN THE WHEEL..HIT CRUISE CONTROL AND WIGGLED THE WHEEL AND IT FINALLY WENT TO DRIVE. IT WOULD GO INTO NUETRAL OR DRIVE AND WOULDN'T GO INTO PARK.I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUT THE E-BRAKE ON AND TURNED THE KEY OFF BUT OF COURSE THE KEY WOULDN'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITION BECAUSE OF THIS...WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. IT EVENTUALLY DOES AFTER FULLING WITH IT. READ ABOUT A RECALL ON THE CABLE OR SOME LAMP OR ESC LIGHTING OR SOMETHING IN 2007-2009 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ'S BUT IT IS NOT UNDER MY VIN. PURCHASED VEHICLE JANUARY 2, 2015. MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER WENT COMPLETELY OUT ON ITS OWN IN MARCH. THE DEALER I MADE THE PURCHASE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MADE AN ADJUSTMENT THAT WAS NEVER SUFFICIENT. IN FACT, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC 4 TIMES WITHOUT HAVE TO LEAVE THE LOT. HE MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN IT AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A USED MOTOR THAT COST $350.00 PLUS $68.00 FOR INSTALLATION. IT IS ONLY SOLD A MOTOR + TRANSMISSION NOT MOTOR ONLY. SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF OIL LEAKING ONTO ALTERNATOR FROM FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVE COVER GASKET- COATING ALTERNATOR, NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO START OR CHARGE WHEN JUMPED. CAR BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND SERVICED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. LOCAL REPAIR SHOP HAS DOCUMENTED AND NOTED THAT THERE IS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURNING FROM FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVUE COVER, WHICH IS DRIPPING AND COATING THE ALTERNATOR. INQUIRED HELP FROM HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING CAR INTO A DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. UNFORTUNALTLY THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO START AND THIS WOULD REQUIRE A TOWING SERVICE TO TOW MY VEHICLE TO THE CLOSET HYUNDAI SERVICE AND DEALERSHIP, WHICH IS OVER FOURTY FIVE MINUTES FROM MY CURRENT LOCATION. ALL EXPENSES HAVE TO BE PAYED OUT OF POCKET FROM THE VEHICAL OPERATIVE (THIS INCLUDES: TOWING AND ALL REPAIRS). I SENT A COMPLAINT APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AGO AND RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION. HAVEN' T HEARD ANY FOLLOWUP FROM HYUNDAI ALTHOUGH THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO SEND A REMEDY NOTICE. I SOLD THE VEHICLE AT A VERY REDUCED PRICE WHEN IT WASN'T RUNNING AND THE REPAIR MAY HAVE BEEN NECESSARY DUE TO THE RECALL ISSUE. ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2014, MY SON WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN OUR 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN. HE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A REPAIR SHOP NEAR HIS WORK. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE TIMING BELT, THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $1,650.00, BECAUSE A SCREW HAD BROKEN OFF WHICH REQUIRED ADDITIONAL REPAIR IN ADDITION TO THE TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT. THE REPAIR SHOP MANAGER OFFERED TO PURCHASE THE CAR AT A VERY REDUCED PRICE ($1600.00), WHICH WE ACCEPTED. MY SON USED THE FUNDS AS A DOWN PAYMENT ON A NEW CAR. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER FROM HYUNDAI CONCERNING OUR RECENTLY SOLD VERACRUZ (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V-415). THE LETTER INCLUDED A SECTION EXPLAINING REIMBURSEMENT CONSIDERATION FOR PREVIOUS REPAIRS. THE RECALL INVOLVES ENGINE OIL LEAKING ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND DAMAGING IT ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE CHARGING CENTER. WE HAVE REPLACED OUR ALTERNATOR THREE TIMES AND HAD A MAJOR ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN JUST TWO YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER TO EXPLAIN OUR SITUATION. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE WE HAD SOLD THE VEHICLE, WE WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REPAIR (OBVIOUSLY) OR REPAIR REIMBURSEMENT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT I HAVE PAID OVER $2,000.00 OVER THE YEARS FOR REPAIRS QUITE POSSIBLY CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND IT TURNED OUT FRONT AND REAR VALVE COVERS GASKETS HAD LEAKED AND DUMPED OIL ONTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO BURN UP. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled and lost electrical power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that engine oil was leaking onto the alternator, causing the alternator and battery to fail. The dealer diagnosed that the alternator, battery, and valve cover gaskets needed to the replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the ABS had failed. The alternator and battery were replaced at the owner’s expense. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion on the ABS failure. The independent mechanic advised the contact that the ABS was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not cover the repair of the valve cover gaskets as the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The alternator was replaced several times. The ABS warning light, check engine warning light, and stability control warning light was illuminated. The contact later received NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V705000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. A second dealer Lynnes Hyundai (401 Bloomfield Ave, Bloomfield, NJ 07003) was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle also experienced a charging failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000. 2007 VERACRUZ ALTERNATOR VALVE COVER GASKET DEFECT. *MW THE CONSUMER STATED ON OCTOBER 4, 2013, THE VEHICLE STALED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. A TOW TRUCK WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BOOSTER BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKED OIL ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND DESTROYED IT. THE ALTERNATOR AND THE VALVE ROCKER COVER WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $758.46.*JB
CAR'S REAR PASSENGER SIDE CALIPER GRABBED THE BRAKES, STARTED TO WEAR ROTOR. WE REPLACED CALIPER HOSE, WHICH WE THOUGHT FIXED THE PROBLEM. FEB 10 2014, STARTED NOTICING ODOR. GOT WORSE ON 2/16, BROUGHT CAR INTO BRAKE PLACE ON A SUNDAY. REPLACED THE ROTORS, MANUALLY TESTED CALIPERS, WHICH SEEMED FINE. 2/22, SMELLED SAME BRAKE METAL SMELL; BROUGHT CAR BACK IN, THEY SAW ROTOR WAS AGAIN WORN BLUE FROM HEAT, AND THEY REPLACED CALIPER AND ROTOR AGAIN. SAME SMELL ON 2/25, AFTER DRIVING CAR ONLY ~30 MILES. CALIPER APPARENTLY AGAIN MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TO THIS DAY. DURING A TURN (LEFT OR RIGHT) AT NIGHT WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS ACTIVATED THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. ONLY JIGGLING THE TURN SIGNAL STALK WILL RESTORE THE HEADLIGHTS. PROBLEM ALSO OCCURS DURING SIGNALING FOR LANE CHANGES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. NO SUGGESTED ACTION HAS BEEN OFFERED TO DATE. *TR

OUR HYUNDAI VERACRUZ AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY INFORMED US THAT THE SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR HAD GONE BAD. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT THIS WOULD BE A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY CONCERN IF THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T WORK. IT WOULD ALSO SEEM TO ME THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT FAIL UNDER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NOTE: NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON 6/25/2013. CALLED DEALER, SET UP AN APPOINTMENT, DROPPED CAR FOR RECALL WORK ON 6/26/2013. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE FEW HOURS. SO, WENT TO PICK UP AFTER WORK @5:45 PM (DEALER'S SERVICE WORKSHOP CLOSES AT 4 PM. SO, THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD LEFT KEYS WITH SHOWROOM RECEPTIONIST). GOT IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT TO REALIZE THE AIR BAG SIGN WAS ON. CALLED DEALERSHIP'S AFTER HOURS SERVICE NUMBER. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE SERVICE MANAGER THE NEXT DAY. SO CALLED NEXT DAY, DEALER ASKED FOR MORE MONEY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM IN THE CAR AND EVEN MORE MONEY IF THERE ARE ANY REPAIRS NEEDED. CALLED HYUNDAI ABOUT THE SITUATION AND DEALER'S UNWILLINGNESS TO CHECK WHY THE AIR BAG SIGN IS ON BUT HYUNDAI DID NOTHING. FRUSTRATED WITH ROUTE 4 HYUNDAI DEALER IN PARAMUS, NJ. HYUNDAI OWNERS BEWARE OF THOSE SCAMMERS. FIRST THEY WILL SCREW UP THE CAR AND THEN ASK FOR MORE MONEY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I EVEN DOUBT THAT THEY HAVE PERFORMED THE RECALL THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PERFORM. HOW CAN ANY DEALER HAND OVER A CAR WHICH HAS THE AIR BAG SIGN ON, WHICH CAME ON AFTER HIM SERVICING THE CAR. AFTER READING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CLOCK SPRING RECALL, I THINK HYUNDAI NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING SERIOUSLY ABOUT THIS AIR BAG SIGN. I HOPE NHTSA LOOKS IN THIS MATTER. *TR
MY ESC OFF LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON THE DASHBOARD CAUSING THE CAR TO NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THERE WAS A RECALL OF THE STOP LAMP SWITCH WHICH WAS PERFORMED IN 2009. I READ IN A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE THAT THERE IS AN UPDATE TO THIS RECALL WHICH WILL BE PERFORMED STARTING IN JUNE 2013. DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM THE RECALL WORK AT THIS TIME AND HYUNDAI USA STATES THAT THE RECALL (CAMPAIGN 110) IS NOT VALID FOR 2007 VEHICLES, ONLY 2008-2009. I AM VERY CONCERNED, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND HYUNDAI REFUSES TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, NHYSA 14V-415. RECALL WORK WAS THEN DONE. I ATTEMPTED TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THE MONEY SPENT THE FIRST TIME THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT. I SENT IN ALL PAPERWORK REQUIRED AND WAITED. I PHONED IN TO SEE WHAT THE DELAY WAS, THEY WERE MISSING OUR PROOF OF PAYMENT RECEIPT. I SENT THAT IN AND WAITED SOME MORE. EACH TIME I CALLED I HAD A NEW "CASE WORKER" BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE(S) WERE NO LONGER WORKING THERE. EACH TIME MY CASE MUST HAVE BEEN PLACED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STACK. EACH TIME THEY PROMISED TO EXPEDITE MY CLAIM. I'M STILL WAITING. NOT ONLY THAT, THEY RECALL REPAIR WORK DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. WE KEEP GETTING "FLUID" LEAKING ONTO THE ALTERNATOR. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING MORE UNLESS HYUNDAI PUTS OUT ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE. I WON'T BUY HYUNDAI AGAIN!
