Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I NOTICED A CONTINUOUS GRINDING SOUND WHILE DRIVING THAT WAS COMING FROM SOMEWHERE. LOWERED MY WINDOWS AND DETERMINED THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. UPON INSPECTION THE BRAKE PAD WAS CRACKED INTO 2 PIECES AND JAMMED ONTO THE ROTOR. MADE AN IMMEDIATE REPAIR OF ALL BRAKE PADS ON THE CAR BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. NEW BRAKE PAD STILL MAKES CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR WHILE DRIVING AND NOISE GETS WORSE WITH BRAKING. THIS IS NOW CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIGHTLY PULL TO THE LEFT AT ALL TIMES.
FRONT BRAKE CALIPER CAME APART WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS NO LONGER OVER THE ROTOR OR PAD. TWO CALIPER BOLTS MISSING FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I HEARD THIS TAPPING SOUND. IT WAS THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER HITTING THE INNER WHEEEL.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
