TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JAGUAR S-TYPE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ALONG A BUSY HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE ENGINE TO START BACK UP. WE EVENTUALLY NEEDED POLICE ASSISTANCE TO MOVE THE CAR FROM THE FAR LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY TO THE FAR RIGHT (SHOULDER). THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PUCHASED IT 9 DAYS PRIOR. THERE WAS GAS IN THE CAR AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.THE CAR STOPPED TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN IT UP WITH RIGHT REAR IN A LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
STRONG GAS SMELL WHENEVER I FILL UP GAS LEAKS WHEN FILLING UP BEHIND PASSENGER BACK SEAT . CAR TURNED OFF WHILE STOPPED TO MAKE A TURN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERNAL ROAD ~45MPH, NOT ACCELERATING , JUST MAINTAINING SPEED. THE ENGINE BASICALLY SHUT DOWN, AND I HAD TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS BARELY MOVING EVEN THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR, ENGINE LIGHT ON, AS WELL AS "ENGINE SYSTEMS FAULT, PARKBRAKE FAULT, DSC NOT AVAILABLE" MESSAGE SHOWING UP ON THE DASH. I RESTARTED THE CAR BUT NOW THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER ISSUES MENTIONED BEFORE AND THE CAR BATTERY DRAINED OUT COMPLETELY AND WENT LIMP. I GOT THE CAR JUMP STARTED AND EVEN THEN IT SHOWED A "ABS FAULT". I WAITED FOR 30 MINS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THEN FINALLY DROVE IT BACK TO MY HOUSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ATLEAST 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 1 MONTH. ONLINE FORUMS SAYS THAT THIS IS A THROTTLE SENSOR ISSUE AND ITS A COMMON ENOUGH PROBLEM THAT JAGUAR NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THESE CARS. I AM VERY PERPLEXED THAT A CAR WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN ON THE ROAD, PUT ITSELF INTO "LIMP MODE" AND BE ABSOLUTELY FINE AN HOUR LATER. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL, AND THEN THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE . USUALLY SHE HAS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESET THE ERROR CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE ENGINES SOFTWARE WAS RESET. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27280. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34300.
