CONVERTIBLE TOP GOE'S HALF WAY DOWN AND GREEN FLUID FLOWS INTO CABIN DOWN REARVIEW MIRROR AND WON'T GO BACK UP.THIS PROBLEM HAS A NAME, THE GREEN SHOWER PROBLEM, THAT JAGUAR HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED, AND KNOW'S ABOUT.. IT HAS HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS.IT IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM, SERIOUS.CAR WAS IN STOP POSITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JAGUAR XKR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE OIL WAS ADDED TO THE ENGINE. UPON ADDING, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OIL HAD LEAKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE OIL COOLER FEED PIPE HOSE LINE HAD RUPTURED AND THE CYLINDERS WERE DAMAGED BY LACK OF OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000. ..UPDATED 02/25/13 *BF THE MECHANIC AT THE REPAIR SHOP INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THERE WAS A CAMPAIGN OUT FOR HIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. HOWEVER, WHEN THE REPAIR FACILITY CALLED THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED THE CAMPAIGN HAD EXPIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED RECEIPTS, PROVING HE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR OIL CHANGES. UPDATED 03/13/13
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN INTER=STATE 101 WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE BEGAN SPUDDERING AND STOPPED RIGHT BY AN EXIT. WE PUSHED THE CAR IN FRONT OF AN MC DONALDS..ALL OF THE OIL POURED OUT OF THE ENGINE.WE HAD IT TOWED BENEDETTI BROS REPAIR ON SEBASTOPOL CALIF..THEY STATED THE MAIN OIL HOSE EXPLODED AND RUINED THE ENGINE..THEY DID STATE THAT THIS VERY SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR HAD A RECALL FOR THIS VERY REASON..I RETURNED MY CAR TO JAQUAR OF MARIN IN CORTE MADERO CALIF WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND TO NO AVAIL COULD I GET IT REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL..I WROTE TO WASH DC AND TO NEW JERSEY AND WAS TURNED DOWN BY BOTH AGENCY,S..EVEN THOUGH THIS VIN NUMBER WASN'T COVERED I THINK IT IS DEPLORABLE THAT THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY CAR WHICH WAS THE SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR THAT JAQUAR RECALLED..PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHY? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JAGUAR XK8. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,100.
I WAS DRIVING FOR ABOUT 1.5 MILES WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC UNTIL I SLOWED AND THEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AT THE CORNER OF HIGHWAY 29 (LAWRENCEVILLE HIGHWAY) AND OAKLAND IN LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT THE FIRST AT THE LIGHT, AS I WAS UNABLE TO TURN RIGHT UNTIL THE LIGHT CHANGED AT LEAST 3 MINUTES LATER. WHEN THE LIGHT FINALLY CHANGED, I WAITED AND THEN TURNED RIGHT, INTO THE LEFT OF THE TWO EASTBOUND LANES (BECAUSE I WAS PLANNING TO TURN LEFT WITHIN ONE BLOCK ONTO HUFF ROAD). AS I COMPLETED THE TURN AND WAS STRAIGHTENING MY WHEEL I SAW A RED SIGNAL ON THE DASH WHICH STATED 'CRUISE CONTROL UNAVAILABLE'. I THOUGHT THAT ODD BECAUSE CRUISE WAS NOT ON AND HAD NOT BEEN ENGAGED THIS JOURNEY. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER THE MESSAGE CHANGED TO 'DCS SYSTEM FAILURE' (NOT SURE OF THOSE THREE LETTERS BUT I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT IT SAID). I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL WHEN I NOTICED THE RED WARNINGS AND THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING FAST, MAYBE 5-10 MPH. AT THAT POINT, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DCS FAILURE MESSAGE, THE BRAKES ENGAGED, LURCHING ME FORWARD. THE BRAKES DISENGAGED AND I IMMEDIATELY SAW A THIRD MESSAGE WHICH STATED 'POWER SYSTEMS FAILURE'. THE CAR WAS NOT AT A STANDSTILL BUT WAS ROLLING FORWARD SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL. THE TACHOMETER INDICATED THE ENGINE WAS REVVING QUICKLY TO ABOUT 3700-4000 RPM, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING FORWARD FASTER IN RESPONSE. I TRIED TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL BUT IT HAD NO EFFECT ON EITHER THE VEHICLE'S SPEED OR ON THE TACHOMETER. I PUT ON THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AS SOON AS THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME. THEN I PUT THE GEARSHIFT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I HAD THE VEHICLE PLACED ON A FLATBED TRANSPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER DISCUSSIONS FOR 2 WEEKS WITH JAGUAR ENGINEERS, A THROTTLE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A THROTTLE ASSEMBLY HAD TO DO WITH SUDDEN BRAKING. JAGUAR HAS INDICATED I HAVE 'PROVIDED INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE OF MY CLAIM AND SO IT HAS BEEN REJECTED". *TR
