TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,900.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEARS, WHEN COASTING DOWN A HILL IF YOU APPLY THE BRAKES THE RIM REV UP TO 4,000-5,000 AND WILL NOT STOP UNLESS YOU PRESS ON THE GAS OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL.
ONGOING ISSUES REGARDING VEHICLE, MULTIPLE FAILURES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. SERIOUS POWERTRAIN ISSUES, VEHICLE SLOW TO RESPOND DRIVER ACCELERATION INPUT, ERRATIC ACCELERATION AND SHIFT PERFORMANCE. AIRBAGS, STABILITY CONTROL, FORWARD CRASH MITIGATION/AVOIDANCE, AND OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS FAILURE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. POWERTRAIN REPLACED, MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES WITH NO RESOLVE, INTERMITTENT ISSUE PERSISTS. *JS
DRIVING TO WORK ON HWY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I ACCELERATED UP A SMALL HILL CAR JERKED THEN POWERED DOWN ON HWY AT 65 MPH I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND PULL OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD THEN NOTICED SERVICE TRANSMISSION, CHECK PARKING BREAK, PUT CAR IN PARK AND THEN SELECT GEAR ALL CAME ON AS MESSAGES ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. PUT CARE IN PARK AND RESTARTED ENGINE ALL LIGHTS/MESSAGES STILL ON DASH AND CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR FOR DRIVING. TRIED TWO MORE TIMES AND FINALLY COULD DRIVE UNDER 50 MPH STRAIGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT REMAINED ON DURING MY ENTIRE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED ACCELERATION WHEN IN TRAFFIC COASTING AND MY FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL. ALSO HARD SHIFTING MULTIPLE TIMES LIKE IT WAS SKIPPING GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING. VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE SITUATION TO BE IN.
WHILE IN DRIVE ENGINE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AS A VIOLENT JERK FROM TRANSMISSION OCCURS ( LUCKILY AT SLOWER SPEEDS) DISPLAY SAYS "SHIFT TO P TO SELECT DESIRED GEAR" GOTO PARK AND RESTART IS SPINNING STARTER SOLENOID SEVERAL RETRIES AND ITS LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED, TOOK TO DEALER AND REOCCURRED ENROUTE DEALER ASKED IF "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT " CAME ON I SAID NO, HE CLAIMS THATS IMPOSSIBLE, THEN SHOWED HIM THE PICTURE I TOOK OF DASH, SAME THING 2 DAYS IN A ROW VERY DANGEROUS IMO
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER VEHICLES OR ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH. ONE OF THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND THERE WAS A VEHICLE FOLLOWING BEHIND HER AND THEY IN TURN HAD TO SLAM THEIR BRAKES ON TO AVOID HITTING HER. OF COURSE THIS ENRAGED THE DRIVER BEHIND HER THINKING THAT SHE WAS INTENTIONALLY SLAMMING ON HER BRAKES. ANOTHER TIME MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM SLAMMED THE BRAKES ON HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE THE ABS SYSTEM. THANK GOD THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS OR SEMI'S BEHIND HER OR SLICK ROADS AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT. THE TWO OTHER TIMES WERE THE SAME, THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATING FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP ON 11-13-2015. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALER I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF THE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN CORRECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HADN'T BEEN LOOKED AT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T ON THE LIST OF REPAIRS, WHEN ACTUALLY THIS IS WHY THE APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE WAS SET. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO GO AHEAD AND TAKE THE VEHICLE AND BRING IT BACK ON 11-23-2015. I REFUSED TAKING THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS NOT SAFE FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE. AFTER ARGUING, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE. WE WERE NOTIFIED AGAIN ON 11-19-2015 THAT THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOMS WITH THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. ON 11-20-2015 I WENT TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN REFUSED THE PICK UP OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND IS SAFE FOR MY WIFE TO OPERATE. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JEEP MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THIS ORDEAL AND HAVE AN OPEN CASE ON THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON 10/18/2015, WHILE FLAT TOWING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON I-5 NEAR SAN CLEMENTE, CA BEHIND OUR RV, WE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE SWERVING SENSATION. WHILE WORKING TO CONTROL THE RV, I VIEWED VIA THE REAR CAMERA, THE CHEROKEE ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE, VIOLENTLY SHAKING THE RV. THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO BE FLAT TOWED BEHIND THE RV, AND WAS CONNECTED TO THE RV WITH A BLUE-OX TOWING SYSTEM. I HAD PREVIOUSLY TOWED THE JEEP CHEROKEE APPROXIMATELY 14,000 MILES PRIOR TO THIS EVENT WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE VIOLENT SWAYING CONTINUED THROUGH THE BRAKING PROCESS, AND DID NOT CEASE UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER STOPPING ON I-5, A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION DID NOT IDENTIFY AN OBVIOUS CAUSE SUCH AS A FLAT/SOFT TIRE ON THE RV OR JEEP, LOOSE OR DAMAGED TOW BAR. I SLOWLY EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND PARKED IN A SAFE LOCATION FOR A CLOSER INSPECTION. TURNING THE JEEP'S IGNITION TO "ON" WITHOUT STARTING, I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC STABILITYCONTROL LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER CHECKING VARIOUS RV FORUMS, I DISCOVERED THAT OTHERS WITH 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WHICH SEEMS TO RESOLVE ITSELF AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I CONTINUED ON MY JOURNEY WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS AND THE WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH RESET WITHIN A DAY OR SO. IT APPEARS TO BE A UNIQUE PROBLEM TO 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES ACCORDING TO VARIOUS RV FORUMS. MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ACTIVE DRIVE II TRANSMISSION SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR FLAT TOWING BEHIND MY RV.
I HAVE REPORTED THREE EARLIER INCIDENTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN THIS UP WITH GM. THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FIX THIS 3 PREVIOUS TIMES. ON 9/22/215 THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED PART 68214620AB. I WAS GOING TO AN EVENT AN HOUR AWAY ON OCTOBER 17, 2015. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 75 AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS GOING ABOUT 70. WHEN WE REACHED A PASSING LANE, I ATTEMPTED TO PASS GOING ABOUT 80 MILES AN HOUR. AS I PULLED EVEN WITH THE OTHER CAR, THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED AND THE ENGINE RED LINED WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE ENGINE ROARED AND DID NOT RETURN TO NORMAL RPM UNTIL I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I WAS RUNNING OUT OF PASSING LANE. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I CONTINUE TO BE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AS THERE IS NO PREDICTING WHEN IT WILL SHIFT OR HOW IT WILL RESPOND TO CHANGES IN SPEED. I HAVE NOT DRIVIN IT VERY MUCH SINCE THE "REPAIR" ON 09/22/15 FOR THIS REASON.
THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY SLIPS OR HAS A DELAYED ENGAGEMENT COMING OFF A FULL STOP OR AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO SAY MAKE A LEFT TURN THE TRANSMISSION HAS A SIGNIFICANT DELAY PRIOR TO ENGAGEMENT WHICH PUTS THE CAR AND THE DRIVER (ME) AT RISK OF A COLLISION. I HAVE TAKEN TO AVOIDING PASSING OR INITIATING A TURN WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT CLEARANCE FROM TRAFFIC AS I FEAR GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR DEALERSHIP SERVICE TEAM SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND VIRTUALLY EVERY OTHER OWNER OF A CHEROKEE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I KNOW JEEP DELAYED THE LAUNCH OF THE CAR DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND BELIEVE THEY KNEW AND KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE AND SUBJECTING DRIVERS TO AVOIDABLE RISK AND INJURY, OR WORSE. THE ISSUE HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, NOT JUST A SINGLE EVENT.
WAS SENT CHRYSLER CSN S13 SAFETY RECALL DUE TO FLAT-TOW ISSUE BEHIND MOTOR HOME. VEHICLE BEGINS TO SWAY L TO R VIOLENTLY IF IT IS MOVED ONTO SHOULDER OR CHANGE IS SURFACE. CHRYSLER TO ADD WIRE HARNESS WHICH KEEPS BATTERY ON DURING TOW TO RE-CENTER STEERING WHEEL. BATTERY IS DEAD IN 3-HOURS IF THIS FIX IS ADDED. VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO US AS TOWABLE PLATFORM AND NOT DISCLOSED OF THESE ISSUES. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE LEAVING OUR HOME DEVELOPMENT AND TURNING RIGHT LAST OCTOBER 2015. THE VEHICLE CORRECTED ITSELF WHEN STOPPING AND CONTINUING. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IN FMCA, I'VE DECIDED TO TAKE TO DEALER AND WRITE FORMAL SAFETY COMPLAINT. THIS IS SECOND SAFETY COMPLAINT BEHIND TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH WAS CREATED SOME MONTHS AGO. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE CAN DAMAGE THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS OUR MOTORHOME. SOLUTION FO WIRE HARNESS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR US DUE TO BATTERY FAILURE AND SHOULD NOT BE TO ANY OTHER CUSTOMER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE (AS ADVERTISED) AS TOW VEHICLE.
WE USE THIS CAR AS A DAILY DRIVER AND ALSO FLAT TOW IT BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME. WE ARE UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO TOW THE CAR,BECAUSE IT HAS A DANGEROUS FRONT END WOBBLE WHILE BEING TOWED. WE HAVE TEN YEARS EXPERIENCE TOWING CARS BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. JEEP HAS BEEN INFORMED, BUT HAS TAKEN NO ACTION TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WE FEEL THIS WOBBLE COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IT NOT CORRECTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB BRADY AUTO MALL (4025 E BOYD RD, DECATUR, IL 62521, (217) 876-3800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WOULD BE SENT OUT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: IT JUMPS WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL RIGHT AFTER I START MY CAR. IT SELF ACCELERATE WHILE I'M DRIVING. JERKS FORWARD WHEN I FIRST START DRIVING THE CAR SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION.

WAS DRIVING IN VERY BUSY TOWN, LUCKILY TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, JEEP HAD LOST ALL POWER, AND WAS SHOWING ENGINE LIGHT, ETC LIGHT FLASHING, AND TRACTION CONTROL WAS SHUT OFF. GOT THE JEEP RUNNING AGAIN ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, AUTO ZONE WAS NEXT DOOR BUT THEY COULD NOT READ THE CODES. HAD TO DRIVE AN HOUR TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL THAT NEEDED TO BE UPDATED, WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT SO MANY MILES TO RESET EVERYTHING, THEN SENT BACK ON MY WAY. THE NEXT DAY I WAS PUTTING THE REQUIRED MILES ON IT, IT LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY WITH YOUNG CHILD, GOT IT TO START AGAIN AND MADE IT BACK TO PARK IT THE REST OF THE DAY. NEXT MORNING DROVE 1/4 MILE DOWN ROAD AND IT HAD LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS BRINGING IT BACK, JEEP WOULD NOT GO PAST 3RD GEAR, ALMOST HIT MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD. GOT TO DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME IT IS UN-DRIVEABLE AFTER DRIVING OVER AN HOUR TO GET THERE, THEY HAD JEEP ALMOST 3 WEEKS. MILEAGE WAS AROUND 18,000. WOULD NEED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION, WHEN THEY FINALLY CALLED TO SAY IT WAS READY, I WAS TOLD IT WAS BC IT NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE...WITH ONLY 3500 MILES ON THIS CHANGE(FEB2015-MARCH2015). NOW(OCT2015) JEEP SHOWS ENGINE, ETC, TRACTION CONTROL, AFTER TURNING AT LIGHT IN NEIGHBORHOOD. TOOK JEEP TO NEW DEALERSHIP, COULD NOT RECREATE PROBLEM, 3 DAYS FOR DIAGNOSIS.
MILEAGE 26,000+ TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THIS MORNING. REVS WENT VERY HIGH BUT COULDN'T GENERATE SPEED TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON)...CAR DIDN'T MOVE PAST 2ND GEAR. HAVING READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES CAUSE BY THE LACK OF "MATURE" SOFTWARE AS CITED BY FIAT CHRYSLER CEO SERGIO MARCHIONNE, I'M WONDERING WHY THE VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED TO PREVENT A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS EVENT FROM OCCURRING. I WAS LUCKY I COULD GET OFF THE HIGHWAY THIS MORNING AND GET TO A DEALERSHIP CLOSE BY. AT THIS STAGE - THE VEHICLES HAS HAD A RECALL FOR THE RADIO R40), WIPERS, LIFTGATE.. WHAT ELSE MR. MARCHIONNE... DO THEY RIGHT THING FOR YOUR CONSUMERS AND RECALL THE VEHICLES WHO ARE AS YOU SAY LACKING "MATURE" PROGRAMMING. NAVIGATION SYSTEM NOT WORKING EITHER. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING TRADING THIS IN FOR A NON CHRYSLER CAR.
9 SPEED AUTO TRANS RECALLED FOR SOFTWARE UPDATE PERFORMED BY DEALER. TRANS CONTINUALLY SEARCHING FOR LOWER GEARS AND WHEN FINDS GEAR WILL SHIFT HARD AND LURCH FORWARD AT TIMES BREAKING TRACTION WITH SUDDEN ACCELERATION. HIGHER GEARS WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT WITH ENGINE LUGGING IN 7TH GEAR AT 40-42 MPH. THE SOFTWARE RECALL DONE BY DEALER MADE SHIFTING WORSE. LAST TRIP TO DEALER WITH TRANS COMPLAINTS RESULTED IN DEALER SAYING NOTHING WILL HELP AND THAT CHRYSLER CONSIDERING TRANS REPLACEMENT ON ALL 2014 CHEROKEES. COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY TIME FRAME ON REPAIRS FOR OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS A DANGER WHEN VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD IN LOWER GEARS. IS THIS DEFECT BEING ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER? ON-GOING AND CONTINUOUS PROBLEM AND DEFECT.
STARTED MY VEHICLE TODAY, DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE. RETURNED HOME. TURNED VEHICLE OFF. WENT TO RESTART VEHICLE AND IT WOULD MOVE TO THE ACC AND ON POSITIONS BUT WOULD NOT START AND THEREFORE WOULD NOT RUN. HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRONIC GREMLINS WITH THIS CAR WHERE THE TAILGATE WOULDN'T LATCH, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THIS IS AN UPDATE TO A PREVIOUSLY MADE CLAIM (10761069). TO SUMMARIZE, AFTER 4 FAILED ATTEMPTS TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REPAIRED IN SEPTEMBER, 2015 THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND IT IS STILL DRIVING VERY SIMILAR TO THE OLD TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO FAILURE. THERE IS A LARGE LAG BETWEEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND ACCELERATION. THIS IS ALARMING WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC. ALSO, THERE ARE MANY HARD SHIFTS AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE GEARS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY AND THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS SUSPECT. I HAVE STARTED THE ARBITRATION PROCESS AND WARN OTHER CONSUMERS TO CONSIDER ISSUES PRIOR TO PURCHASE.

SHIFTING IS STILL AN ISSUE, DEALER CLAIMED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE YET THE CHECK IN & OUT MILEAGE REMAINED UNCHANGED AT 20,635. THE PARKING SENSORS GO OFF IN DRIVE THRU'S, YET ANOTHER ISSUE THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHICH IS NEEDED FOR WORK!!! AFTER MORE THAN 3 DEALERSHIP VISITS AND FLASH MODULE AND SOFTWARE UPDATES THE VEHICLE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH LOSS OF POWER AND NOW UNEVEN SHIFTING INCLUDING JERKING WHEN SHIFTING. IF YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL DOWN THERE IS A DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE GOES. I HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES FROM THE GET GO 3K MILES AND NOW HAVE 8.5K ON IT WITH NO FIXES OR END IN SIGHT. FCA HAS HAD LITTLE TO NO COMMUNICATION WITH ME UP TO THIS POINT AND AM STILL WAITING ON A CALL BACK FROM THEM.

A COUPLE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, WAS ROUNDING A TURN, GOING UPHILL, AND ACCELERATED. AT THAT POINT, THE CAR WOBBLED VIOLENTLY. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND FOUND ALL TO BE AROUND 48#. SINCE THE TIRES HAD BEEN INFLATED WITH NITROGEN AT THE DEALER I WENT THERE AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE OVER-INFLATION WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE. THE "TIRE TECHNICIAN" TOOK A FEW POUNDS OUT OF EACH TIRE AND PRETTY MUCH SAID IF THE TROUBLE LIGHT IS NOT LIT, THE PRESSURES ARE FINE. WHEN I GOT HOME, I CHECKED THE PRESSURES AND COMPARED WITH THE TPMS DISPLAY. NONE OF THE TIRES HAD THE SAME PRESSURE AND ALL OVER 40#. I ADJUSTED THE PRESSURES OF THE TIRES TO THE PRESSURE STATED ON THE TIRE STICKER ON THE DOOR JAMB. I CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE A WOBBLING AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES. I AGREED TO DOCUMENT WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING AND UNDER WHICH CONDITIONS. I EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT, BUT FREQUENT WOBBLING UPON ACCELERATION BETWEEN 10 AND 20 MPH USUALLY IN SECOND GEAR. ON NOV 2, THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE WOBBLING AND STATED THAT JEEP DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AT THIS TIME. THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE THE FRONT AXLES DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SLOP TO TAKE LEFT/RIGHT MOVEMENTS OF ENGINE AND BOTTOMS OUT ON AXLE SHAFTS. SHOULD BE FEBRUARY. WHEN I CHECKED IN MARCH, I WAS TOLD JEEP REVISED DATE TO BE 3Q 2015. SEP 29, I WAS NOW TOLD 4Q 2015. I THEN CONTACTED FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GO BEYOND THE DEALER FIND OUT FACTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE REP SAID THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER FOR THEIR INPUT WHILE I HELD ON THE PHONE. SHE GOT BACK ON THE PHONE AND SIMPLY SAID THAT THERE IS NO ETA FOR THE FIX AND TO CONTINUE CHECKING BACK WITH THE DEALER OR GO TO ANOTHER DEALER AND SEE IF THEY CAN FIND SOMETHING ELSE WRONG. NO FIX AFTER ALL THIS TIME, THAT'S TERRIBLE. THE FCA REP MISHANDLING MY CONCERN, IN MY OPINION IS AS BAD.
I FLAT TOW THIS VEHICLE BEHIND A MOTOR HOME ALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH JEEP SPECS. JEEPS HAVE BEEN A POPULAR VEHICLE FOR TOWING FOR MANY YEARS. WHILE TOWING THE VEHICLE WILL, WITHOUT WARNING, BEGIN LUNCHING SIDE TO SIDE VIOLENTLY. IT IS SO VIOLENT THAT IT STARTS THE ENTIRE 27,000 POUND MOTOR HOME ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE. WATCHING IN THE REAR CAMERA IT APPEARS THAT THE WHEELS ARE TURNING FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND THAT THE JEEP IS TRYING TO ROLL OVER. BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY AND FEAR OF MECHANICAL DAMAGE I HAVE STOPPED TOWING THIS VEHICLE. TALKING IN THE RV COMMUNITY I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH JEEP CHEROKEE'S MANUFACTURED SINCE 2014. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND WITH DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER TOW BARS. THE LAST ONE IS SHOWN BELOW ON THIS FORM HAPPENED WHILE TOWING AT 60MPH AND I REFUSED TO TOW THE CAR ON THE RETURN TRIP. THE JEEP IN THE YOUTUBE VIDEO IS BEING TOWED AT 25-30MPH. COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE LURCHING. I VIEW THIS AS A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION AND BELIEVE A SMALLER, LIGHTER RV COULD BE TURNED OVER BY THIS VERY POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.

WHILE DRIVING AROUND THE CITY OF SF, I STARTED TO HERE A GRINDING NOISE. THERE ARE TWO THING THAT WOULD STOP IT. FIRST, WOULD BE AN ACTUALLY STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN DOING SO IT MADE A HARD DOWNSHIFT NOISE AND CRUNCH. SECOND WOULD BE USING THE MANUAL OVERRIDE ON THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT AND SHIFT THE GEARS. ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH GETTING ONTO THE BAY BRIDGE I HEAR A SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE THAT WOULD ONLY LAST FOR A FEW HUNDRED FEET.
EXPERIENCED AN UNCONTROLLABLE CAR WOBBLE PROBLEM THREE TIMES, WHILE FLAT TOWING OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEHIND OUR MOTOR HOME IN SEPTEMBER ON TRIP FROM WYOMING TO MICHIGAN. AN IRREGULARITY IN THE HIGHWAY INITIATES A VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE WOBBLE OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WHICH APPEARS TO ATTAIN A NATURAL FREQUENCY THAT REQUIRES BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE HALT TO STOP THE OSCILLATING. THE THIRD TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS LIFE THREATENING ON I-80 SOUTH OF CHICAGO AT RUSH HOUR WITH FIVE LANES OF TRAFFIC AT 60 PLUS MPH. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE WHERE I COULD GET MY RIG OFF TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHICH OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE NEW JEEP CHEROKEE. EVEN THOUGH CHRYSLER SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED THE NEW JEEP CHEROKEE TO BE FLAT TOWED BEHIND A MOTORHOME, AND WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, THE UNPREDICTABLE DANGER THE WOBBLE PROHIBITS FLAT TOWING. A FAST GROWING NUMBER OF CONSUMERS WHO EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM NEED ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER ON HOW TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE INSTIGATE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER AS THERE HAS BEEN NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE PROBLEM ON THEIR PART. THE ERROR MESSAGES THAT CAME ON THE DASH WERE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION< SERVICE EMERGANCY BREAK,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" MINOT AUTOMOTIVE WROTE ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC PAPER THAT CODE U0402 "IMPLAUSIBLE DATA RECIEVED FROM TCM" AND CODE P0975- SHIFT CONTROL SOLENOID B CIRCUIT CONTROL PERFORMANCE ERRORS WERE STORED. DEALER UPDATED THE TCM AND PCM SOFTWARE TO VERSION FOR TSBS 18-031-14 REV A AND 21-043-15 THEY CLEARED THE CODES THE RETURNED. ON SEPTEMBER 23 THE JEEP JUST DIED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIWAY AT 65 MPH, IT RESTARTED AN HOUR LATER AND AGAIN TOOK TO DEALER WHO PROMPLY SAID IT WOULD BE 4 WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. CALLED JEEP/CHYSLER SERVICE # AND ASSIGNED CASE #27877752 AND TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK. JEEP AGAIN DIED ON SEPT 23 2015 2 MORE TIMES AS THE DEALER SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND JEEP WOULDN'T PAY FOR A RENTAL. I NEVER WAS CALLED BACK FROM JEEP SO CALLED THEM AGAIN.THIS TIME ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER WHO JUST STONEWALLS ME AND NEVER RETURNS CALLS. JEEPS BRIGHT IDEA WAS TO HAVE IT TOWED 150MILES AT MY EXPENSE OF $664 TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO WOULDN'T LOOK AT IT FOR 2 MONTHS. CAR DIES AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 65 ON SEPTEMBER 24 2015. IF WE OR THE OTHER MOTORING PUBLIC LIVE THRU THIS IT WILL BE A MIRACLE.
THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT IN WHICH THE COMPUTER OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE HAS MALFUNCTIONED. I HAD IT SERVICED FOR THE SECOND TIME JUST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. IN THIS PARTICULAR ACCIDENT, THE SCREEN FROZE, MY PHONE WAS CHARGING AND WHEN THE SCREEN FROZE MY PHONE WAS POWERED OFF ALONG WITH THE CHARGING PORT, AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO BRAKE DUE TO IT BEING A RED LIGHT AND CAR IN FRONT OF ME THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE OR SWITCH LANES. A SERVICE LIGHT FLASHED AT ME WHEN EVERYTHING FROZE BUT THEN DISAPPEARED. OF COURSE, AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, THERE WERE NO ISSUES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAR HAS FROZEN ON ME. I'M UNSURE OF THE BETTER TERM TO DESCRIBE THIS. BUT THIS TIME RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS NOT IN MY CONTROL DUE TO MY BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKING. I WAS TOLD TWO WEEKS AGO MY CAR WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL SERVICE ISSUES. APPARENTLY THIS WAS INCORRECT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH JEEP. I ALSO HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY SAFETY RECALLS REGARDING THE KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THE BRAKE HACK DUE TO THE 3G AND UCONNECT COMPUTER SYSTEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED.

WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE,I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD A FLUID LEAK. THE ENTIRE UNDER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID! THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS AND NO MESSAGES! I WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED!
MODEL:2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 2.4 LITERS. MONTHS OLD: 13 FIRST FAILURE: "THE TRANSMISSION KICKED BACK AS IF IN REVERSE". THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8293. IT WAS IN SCHOOL ZONE AREA. THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOW. STOP AND GO. AT ONE POINT, WHEN THE TRAFFIC STARTED MOVING THE DRIVER (MY WIFE) RELEASED THE BRAKE AND SLIGHTLY PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WITH HER FOOT, THE VEHICLE ALL OF SUDDEN ACCELERATED BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE BEHIND STARTED HONKING AT HER. SHE WAS ABLE TO HIT THE BRAKE, JUST INCHES BEFORE SHE HIT THE FRONT END OF THAT VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND A LONG MESSAGE APPEARED, ONLY MOMENTARILY ON THE DASH SCREEN WHICH INDICATED (SOMETHING ABOUT) "BRAKE" AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION". IN A PANIC, MY WIFE COULD NOT RECALL THE WHOLE MESSAGE. SOMEONE AT THAT DEALERSHIP TOLD ME HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE ON 2.4 L JEEP CHEROKEES. AFTER 2 DAYS TROUBLESHOOTING, JEEP DEALER INSTALLED "NEW SOFTWARE IN BCM", THE LATEST SOFTWARE VERSION (I WAS TOLD) AND TOLD ME THE VEHICLE WAS NOW FIXED, SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. (PLEASE NOTE: FCA RECALL RO1: REPROGRAM TCM AND PCM HAD BEEN PERFORM ON 04/17/15). SECOND FAILURE: "SAME PROBLEM AS THE FIRST FAILURE AND TRANSMISSION STALLED WHILE ON DRIVE". THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8373. TWO DAYS AFTER THE FIRST FAILURE WAS "FIXED". WHILE PULING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT VERY LOW SPEED WITH A 3 YEARS OLD SLEEPING BABY IN THE REAR CAR SEAT. STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THE DRIVER (IT WAS ME) FELT LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO MOVE AS IF IN REVERSE, THEN THE TRANSMISSION STALLED AS IF IN NEUTRAL. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL A FEW TIMES BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. SAME INDICATIONS FLASHED ON THE DASH SCREEN AS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THAT SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IN BOTH OCCURRENCES, NO ONE WAS HURT, NO ACCIDENT BUT IT COULD BE MUCH WORSE.
I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACE BY JEEP YET THE TRANSMISSION STILL CONTINUE TO DO HARD SHIFTS, LUNGING, UNEXPECTED DISENGAGEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NOT ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY IN EMERGENCY. IF THE GAS IS PRESSED, THE ENGINE LAGS AND OVER REVS BUT GOES NO WHERE. THEN IT WILL JUMP FORWARDED. I KEEP TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO JEEP AND BUT KEEP BEING TOLD THE ENGINE WORKS AS DESIGNED.

THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IN THE UCONNECT 8.4 AN FROZE CONSTANTLY DURING DRIVING. WHEN IT WAS NAVIGATING ME FOR LONG DISTANCE, THE SYSTEM CRASHED AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE NAVIGATION PROCESS. THE PROBLEM WAS REPEATABLE, FOR EXAMPLE FOR THE ROUTE FROM "133-42 39TH AVE NEW YORK, 11354" TO "69 N EAGLEVILLE RD, STORRS, CT 06269".
