The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated when she was reversing (R) out of the parking space, when she straightened the vehicle and shifted to drive (D) the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle crossed over several parking lot barriers and crashed into the front end of a parked vehicle. The contact stated that the acceleration happened so fast she was not able to depress the brake pedal and she did not notice how fast she was moving. It was unknown if any lights illuminated. The vehicle crashed into the front end of the parked vehicle. The contact's driver's side hood and grill were crushed, and her driver's side wheels well and fender were also crushed and damaged. The driver's side door was badly damaged and could not be opened. The contact was transported by ambulance to a hospital. She said she was treated for a bruise on her left knee, she had no other injuries. The parked vehicle was unoccupied. The police were on the scene but did not file a report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and the contact stated that her insurance company later called to advise her that the vehicle was a total loss. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
I honestly have no idea what system failed but I was doing 80 on the interstate and my car shifted into nuetral . All of the lights came on parking brake , brake and then my car would not drive any longer , luckily I was able to coast onto the shoulder but I literally could have been killed. I had just passed road construction that went from 4 lanes to 2 barracaded lanes. i waited 30 minutes and my car restarted like nothing . So I thought maybe it was a glitch until I was driving again and it did it again. I had to keep putting my car in park and then shifting it back to drive . It has not been inspected yet as i'm trying to get it to the dealership without it cutting off .
When gas pedal is pressed starting from a stop, the jeep doesn’t move right away, then jerks forward. Also, when driving, it sounds like the automatic gear is not shifting up, sounds like the jeep is “reving up”. Another thing happening, is as I start moving, I hear a clunk sound, towards the rear of the jeep, like something might fall off
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50–60 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. While driving 75 MPH and decelerating to 55 MPH, there was a thumping sound detected, and the vehicle started shuddering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving, at any speed, for any length of time (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours) the car will act like it is shifting to neutral, no matter how fast I am traveling, it’s happened at 10 mph and up. It’s random, no rhyme or reason. It has been in 4 shops since November and does not code for errors. No one has found the issue. It is unsafe as it will redline the rpm, make the accelerator useless, and the only cure is to drop the car into neutral and abruptly stop. This can lead to a serious accident as there is not time to come to a safe stop or pull over safely on certain roads. It appears like this may be the same issue as a recall from 2016, maybe the fix didn’t fix the hazard? Some lights flash on the dash. Immediately when it happens, the traction control light comes on, and occasionally the “service transmission” warning will briefly appear. My transmission has been checked multiple times now and it appears to be in good condition. One jeep dealer thought it could “maybe” be a transfer case issue as it wasn’t going into gear. They did the W20 recall and it hasn’t had that issue since. The red lining and apparent neutral shift is still happening. We had another shop give us a 2nd opinion on the transfer case, it was functional and nothing was wrong with it. Two shops concluded the transmission and transfer case were fine. We have had three diagnostics on the car, one came back with a faulty oil sensor, which turned out to be unplugged, however we replaced it anyway to be safe. And one came back with voltage errors since it sat in their parking lot for a month, they replaced a battery cable and nothing else came up. But they were willing to replace the transfer case in a maybe, which prompted our second opinion. This is frustrating and I am terrified to drive it. The last time I did I nearly got hit by a semi truck when it redlined the rpm and I had to abruptly stop where there was no safe place to pull over. This happened 4x in 20 miles
Upon trying to enter a slightly inclined parking space in a parking garage, as I was lightly pressing on the accelerator, the car suddenly accelerated (tires screeching) and hit the concrete half wall. No time to even brake properly as it happened so fast. I had noticed a lack in acceleration that morning driving to my destination. Thankfully no injuries.
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING THE CAR DOWN A CITY STREET WHEN IT HAS FOR NO KNOWN REASON SHUT OFF AND BECOME IMMEDIATELY INOPERABLE. THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS WAS IN JUNE 2020. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT GOT NO INDICATION FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC THAT SPECIALIZES IN ELECTRONIC ISSUES. THEY FOUND AN ISSUE IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT THEY SAID MAY HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM. I HAD IT REPAIRED AND THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. THIS PAST SATURDAY (1/16/21) I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN A CITY STREET WHEN AGAIN, WITH NO WARNING, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AGAIN AND AGAIN, THEY CAN FIND NOTHING DIAGNOSTICALLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE ISSUES BUT IT IS IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT IS AT THE MECHANICS. I CAN PROVIDE IF NEEDED.
WHILE EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE "JERKS", OR "LUNGES". THOUGH I APPLY THE PEDALS SMOOTHLY (GRADUALLY), THE CAR MOVES AS IF I WERE PUMPING THE BRAKE AT ~1 SECOND INTERVALS. BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE, THIS CAUSES DRIVERS BEHIND ME TO GET AWFULLY CLOSE (AS MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT SIGNAL THAT I AM STOPPING). THIS HAPPENS CHRONICALLY (>1X /WEEK).

I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ON FEBRUARY 14, 2020 FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO HOPEFULLY FIX THE HESITATION I EXPERIENCE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT JOLT. THE UPDATE HAS MADE THIS ISSUE WORSE, SO BAD THAT I HAVE NECK PAIN, SCARED TO PULL OUT WITH TRAFFIC, HAS CAUSED MY WHEELS TO PEEL OUT MULTIPLE TIMES, AND HAVE A HARD TIME ACCELERATING WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR MERGING ON THE FREEWAY. THE JOLT THAT HAPPENS MAKES EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE JOLT FORWARD AND CAUSE THE SEAT BELTS TO LOCK UP. I AM TO THE POINT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE HAVING MY KIDS IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF HOW OFTEN MY CAR LOSES POWER TO ACCELERATE OR GETS LOCKED IN A LOWER GEAR. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT SUDDENLY TURNED ON WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, WITH ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS ON. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED ENGINE, THE LIGHT IS GONE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MPH MY CAR STARTED BEEPING AND SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION. RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE SPEED AT ZERO. ONCE IS GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE IT WAS AS IF MY CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME SPEED UP OR ANYTHING NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED ON THE GAS. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND MY SPEED KEPT DECREASING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT 3 TIMES TRYING TO GET OVER TO RESTART MY CAR. ONCE I FINALLY GOT OVER I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE AND I'M TERRIFIED I'M GOING TO BE IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT WHILE RUNNING A TEST, A CODE CAME UP INDICATING THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT CALLED BREEDEN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (5900 US-71 BUS, FORT SMITH, AR 72908 (479) 646-473) AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,444.
HI I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES. WHEN I DRIVE (20-25 MPH), THE CAR JOLTS AS IF SOMEONE HAS HIT ME FROM BEHIND ALMOST AS IF THE CAR IS SHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING GEARS. WHEN IM APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND GRADUALLY SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT MY FOOT ON EITHER THE GAS OR BRAKE, THE CAR JOLTS BACK AND FORTH. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN IM DRIVING UPHILL AND DOWNHILL AROUND 20 MPH. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR AS THIS IS A RISK THAT I WILL CRASH DUE TO THE SHIFTING. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES, THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE IN WHICH DID NOT WORK, I EXPERIENCE EVERYDAY WHEN I AM DRIVING AND CONTINUE TO BE WORSE EVERYDAY.
I EXPERIENCE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN COASTING. WHEN THE CAR ATTEMPTS TO DOWN SHIFT, THERE IS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE RPMS AND A SUDDEN AND UNINTENDED INCREASE IN SPEED. I HAVE GOTTEN NO SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER. THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE. NOTE: WHEN THIS OCCURS MY FOOT IS ON NEITHER THE GAS OR BRAKE PEDALS. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY ON LEVEL STREET AND HIGHWAYS.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THIS CAR HAS JUST STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION. DASHBOARD LIGHTS LIGHT UP, GET TRANSMISSION WARNING. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO BE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED AN UPDATE ON THE COMPUTER. IT IS VERY SCARY TO BE DRIVING A CAR AND NOT KNOW WHEN OR IF IT WILL SHUT OFF, AND THAT AN "UPDATE" WOULD CAUSE SUCH AN INCIDENT. I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THIS CAR SINCE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO JEEP AND THEY JUST SAID TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP SO THEY COULD RUN TESTS ON IT, THIS WAS AFTER IT HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS. IT SEEMS LIKE MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME MODEL CAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF SOMETHING ISN'T DONE WITH THESE ISSUES. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL IN THIS FAULTY VEHICLE. I AM POSTING THAT THIS NEW OCCURANCE HAPPENED TODAY, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS.
WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL IT EXCELERATES WHEN GOING DOWNHILL AND DOESN'T DISENGAGE WHEN BREAKING OR TURNING OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS, CAUSING EXCESSIVE RPMS, ABRUPT AND JOLTING SHIFTS, AND SUDDEN VARIATIONS IN RPMS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HAVE TIRED MULTIPLE TIMES GOING TO DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE SOLVED, BUT HAVE ONLY BEEN GIVEN NEW UPDATES WHICH HAVE FAILED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR THE TRANSMISSION MADE A HORRIBLE SOUND AND JUST WENT BEZERK. ALL I COULD DO IS PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND COAST TO THE SIDE. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR NOT EVEN PARK. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY SEVERAL VEHICLES TRYING JUST TO GET OVER. HE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE WERE TOLD IT WAS FIXED ON OUR WAY HOME IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I AM LITERALLY TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN.
USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) VEHICLE WITH START TO STOP WHEN A VEHICLE IS LEFT TURN LANE EITHER ALREADY THERE OR TURNING INTO WHEN IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE REQUIRING OVERRIDE WITH GAS PETAL. STARTED INTERMITTENT; OVER 6 MONTHS PERIOD MORE CONSISTENT WITH THIS PROBLEM. SPEED FROM 25 TO 45 MPH.
