SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING ON DASH WITH ALL RED LIGHTS NEXT TO ALL GEARS ON SHIFTER. AS SOON AS I PUT IN DRIVE, THE WARNING CAME ON AND ALL LIGHTS LIT UP. WILL NOT RESET BY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE.
AT ABOUT 20K MILES, A WARNING ON THE DISPLAY POPPED UP THAT SAYS, "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL OF THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ALL LIT UP. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES, ONCE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND ONCE WHILE IT WAS PARKED. AFTER THOSE TWO TIMES, IT STOPPED AND DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL NOW. THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED AT 45K MILES AND IS HAPPENING A LOT. WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE I'M MOVING, THE ENGINE REVS UP REALLY HIGH. WHEN I'M PARKED AND IT HAPPENS, I HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON BEFORE I CAN SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WITH THAT..THE LIGHTS NEXT TO THE PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL AND DRIVE LETTERS ALL TURN RED. I'M TAKING IT TO A DEALERSHIP THIS SATURDAY AND I KNOW THAT IT WILL COST ME. I HAD MY TWO KIDS IN THE CAR 1 AND 3 YEARS OLD WHEN IT HAPPENED. MY CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN MY GARAGE BECAUSE IT'S BEEN RAINING ALL WEEK AND I DIDN'T WANT TO GET OUT INTO THE RAIN TO LET MY TWO KIDS INSIDE. I DROVE IT ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THIS PROBLEM STARTED. I READ THAT THIS IS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING. SOME SAY THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE LIKE THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND OTHERS SAY THEY HAVE TO KEEP PAYING TO HAVE IT 'FIXED' BUT THE PROBLEM WITH KEEP HAPPENING. ALSO MY VEHICLE HAD A MISFIRE ON THE 2ND CYLINDER AND MY VEHICLE KEPT JERKING TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT BUT WE ALSO PAID TO GET THAT 'FIXED'. I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I NEEDED SOMETHING RELIABLE TO DRIVE MY FAMILY AROUND IN AND IT'S CAUSING ME MORE HEADACHE AND NOW I HAVE TO WORRY IF MY KIDS ARE SAFE TO RIDE WITH ME IN IT.
CAR SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING! LOOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! DEALERSHIP EXPLANATION IS THAT THE OIL IS LOW AND CAR IS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IF THE OIL IS LOW. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND NO OIL LIGHT EVER CAME ON. MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME AND THAT THIS ENGINE BURNS A WHOLE QUART OF OIL PER 750 MILES!!!
"SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE WITH SOLID RED LIGHTS ON SHIFTER PANEL (P-R-D, ETC.). WHEN VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED MESSAGE DISAPPEARS. THIS SITUATION OCCURS RANDOMLY AND HAS HAPPENED ROUGHLY 10 TIMES IN LAST SIX MONTHS. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT NON HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A FORWARD DIRECTION WITH THE TRANSMISSION SET TO D THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES ALL FORWARD DRIVE AND BEHAVES AS IF TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL. APPLYING THROTTLE INCREASES ENGINE RPM BUT AS NO EFFECT ON FORWARD PROPULSION. THE 'D' NORMALLY ILLUMINATED ON SHIFTER CHANGES FROM SOLID TO FLASHING AND A MESSAGE MAY APPEAR IN THE DASH CONSOLE. ONE RECENT MESSAGE READ SOMETHING LIKE ' REDUCE SPEED TO 0 AND SHIFT INTO PARK'. THESE SPONTANEOUS EVENTS OCCUR UNDER A WIDE VARIETY OF DIVING CONDITIONS; FORM ROLLING SLOWLY THROUGH A PARKING LOT OR CITY STREET DRIVING, TO FULL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE CAN GO DAYS OR WEEKS BETWEEN EVENTS OR PRESENT SEVERAL IN THE SAME DAY. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION I'VE HAD TO SUDDENLY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC FROM HIGHWAY DRIVING LANES TO A SHOULDER WHERE I COULD STOP AND CYCLE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER FROM D TO N AND BACK TO D THEN REJOIN TRAFFIC.

WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL, THE VEHICLE UNINTENTIONALLY SHIFTED OUT OF FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE FAILURE LIGHT DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MTN. VIEW CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (6276 ALABAMA HWY, RINGGOLD, GA 30736, (706) 935-2328) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF INTERNAL GEAR DAMAGE IN THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,203.*DT*JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70-80 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS VIBRATING. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH POINTE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (5210 S IH 35 FRONTAGE RD, AUSTIN, TX 78745 (512)774-6306) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OUTPUT SHAFT AND PVT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I CONTINUE TO GET ERROR ON DASH THAT READS "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL OF THE GEARS LIGHTS, LIGHT UP. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE HAD THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND HOUSING UNIT REPLACED. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND IT HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN GEAR ON AT LEAST 2 OCCASIONS. THIS IS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 46K MILES WHICH I HAVE HAD FOR 14 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPLACED, WAS AFTER HAVING THE JEEP FOR 3 MONTHS, THEN HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER, HAD ASSEMBLY REPLACED A SECOND TIME, AND IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR THE 3RD TIME TO HAVE IT REPLACED AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED DUE TO IT SLIPPING AND GETTING STUCK IN GEARS. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN I FIRST TURN THE CAR ON, AND WILL RESET ITSELF IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. ON 2/28/20, IT HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY BOTH WHEN PARKED AS WELL AS WHEN I AM DRIVING, WHICH IS CONCERNING.
I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND JUST THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR (2020) I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMING ON WHILE GOING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH. BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE LIGHT JUST COMES ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER PANEL LIGHT UP. IF I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF THEN RIGHT BACK ON THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL STAY ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I'VE CONTACTED SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND THEY TELL ME THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF SINCE I PURCHASED IN MARCH 2019
Since I purchased this vehicle it has had issues with the 9-speed transmission. The transmission at times, shifts so hard, it feels like you have been rear-ended. The transmission shifts very hard at times and feels as if it's confused. In addition, there is a dangerous delay from when you hit the gas pedal to when the transmission actually engages. There have been times when I hit the gas to get through an intersection and the car has lost power and the transmission was delayed at least 2-5 seconds engaging; almost resulting in multiple accidents.
TODAY A MESSAGE CAME ON IN MY MESSAGE WINDOW ON THE DASH THAT THE SHIFTER NEEDS TO BE SERVICED AND ALL THE SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON ALONG WITH IT. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE ALREADY HAD 2 RECALLS, BATTERY REPLACEMENT, AND TRANSMISSION THERMOSTAT REPLACED ON IT. IT SUCKS THAT THESE COSTS HAVE HAD TO COME OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE MOPAR/ JEEP HAS MADE SUCH A LEMON OF A CAR. I'VE HAD TO HAVE TOWED TWICE SO FAR.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING APPEARS IN MAIN CONSOLE DISPLAY WHICH REPLACES YOUR DIGITAL SPEED INDICATOR. WILL NOT DISAPPEAR UNTIL YOU STOP AND RESTART CAR. HAPPENS WHILE MOVING. AFTER GOOGLING THE ISSUE APPEARS QUITE A FEW OTHERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. IS JUST DISTRACTING IF YOURE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH YOUR CURRENT SPEED SUDDENLY REPLACED WITH A WARNING. AS PER OTHERS ON GOOGLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE.. HAD TO HAVE THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS REPLACED.
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE APRIL 6, 2019. IT REPEATEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR AND COMES TO A STOP.THE SRVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO HERB CHAMBERS JEEP IN MILLBURY MA. 4 TIMES AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX IT. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED ON APRIL 22,2020 THE CHARLTON MA. POLICE RESPONDED AND HAD TO DIRECT TRAFFIC AROUND MY CAR TILL IT WAS TOWED. I DO HAVE A POLICE REPORT WITH 3 PICTURES IF NEEDED. THIS WAS ON RTE 20 IN CHARLTON WHILE MOVING.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE ALL RED LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SHIFTER COME ON AND A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DASH SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER, THE CAR DROPS OUT OF DRIVE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. I SOMETIMES CAN RESET IT BY SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING BUT THAT DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK AND THE CAR THEN HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO BE PUT IN SOME VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. WHAT IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN BEING ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOSING ALL FORWARD MOTION.
AT ANY GIVEN TIME, WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND USUALLY WHEN SWITCHING GEARS, THE SHIFTER MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING AN INTERRUPTION IN MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, I HAVE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY!
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE RANDOMLY COME ON WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON AND AS OF TODAY WILL NOT TURN OFF COMPLETELY. THEY CAN BE SLOWED TO AN INTERMITTENT POSITION OR RUN AT FULL SPEED BUT WILL NOT TURN OFF.THIS BEGAN TO HAPPEN ONLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, NOW THEY ARE ON WEATHER DRIVING OR IN PARK, AND ONLY STOP WHEN THE VEHICLE IN TURNED OFF.
WHILE DRIVING IN CRUISE, GOING 70 MPH DOWN A HIGHWAY, MY JEEP DISPLAYED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE SHIFTIER" AND ALL MY GEARS LIT UP RED. THIS IS MY 2ND JEEP AND THE FIRST PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LAST YEAR. THE CAR IS UPDATED WITH ALL OIL CHANGES AND MECHANICAL WORK AND HAS NEVER GIVEN ME A SCARE. JUST HOURS AFTER THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED, I TOOK IT TO BE LOOKED AT AT MY LOCAL AUTO ZONE AND EVEN WITH A SECOND OPINION FROM A WORKER WHO USED TO WORK FOR CHRYSKER, THEY COULD NOT SEE A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE SEEN 5 OTHER TIMES THIS YEAR WITH NEWER JEEPS THAN MINE AND SOME SIMILAR TO MY MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO KNOWN SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE BUT TO DRIVE WITH CARE BECAUSE THIS ISSUE COULD LEAVE ME IN A SITUATION WHERE I AM UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK OR WHERE MY GEARS SHIFT ON THERE OWN. I AM AT A TOTAL LOSS AS TO HOW TO FIX THIS OR WHAT IS EXACTLY WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE.
GEAR SHIFTER SERVICE WARNING
JEEP BEEN CUTTING OFF ALOT, BUT CAN RECRANK, LIGHTING BOLT COMES UP WHEN DIES, NOW GETTING WORSE AND LIGHTNING BOLT STAYS ON. LOOKING UP WHAT IT MEANS, SHOWS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE. JUST CUTS OFF NO WARNING, REGARDLESS HOW OR EHETE YOU AT DURING DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFT ALL TURN RED. I PULLED OVER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF DROVE AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS TURN RED AGAIN REPEATED THE PROCESS AND AND IT TURNED ON AGAIN. CALLED THE DEALER THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM LOOKED IT UP AND SAID THAT THE SHIFT NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED BUT THEY SAID IT IS OK TO DRIVE.
IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET GOING 35 MPH THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF; STEERING AND BRAKING BECOME DISABLED AND CAR COSTS INTO TRAFFIC. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR DASH BOARD SYMBOLS TURNED EVER ON. VEHICLE HAS TO BE TOWED TO A SHOP TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED/REPLACED AFTER ONLY 200 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. ENGINE BURNS OIL (NOT LEAKING) AT A HIGH RATE. OIL NEEDS TO BE CHECKED WEEKLY AND REPLACED ON A 2-3 MONTH SCHEDULE. ONLY 35,000 MILES ON THE CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD WHILE THE BATTERY FAILURE WARNING LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRED MARTIN SUPERSTORE 3195 BARBER RD, BARBERTON, OH 44203 (330) 753-4444, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND THAT IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT AN OIL CHANGE BE PERFORMED. THE OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,527.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE EMERGENCY BREAK CAME ON WITHOUT WARNING HALTING THE CAR IN MOTION . CAR DID NOT SLOW . CAR LOCKED UP. UNABLE TO PUT IN NEUTRAL . REQUIRED FLATBED TOW. NO PROVIDED NO PRIOR WARNING
A SERVICE SHIFTER SOON WARNING COMES ON AT RANDOM AND BLOCKS THE SPEEDOMETER WHILE DRIVING. IT CLEARS WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND WILL RANDOMLY RETURN.
ON FEB 6, 2020, I WAS GETTING READY FOR WORK WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY JEEP HAD A MESSAGE APPEAR ON THE DASH BOARD REGARDING SHIFT SHIFTER. I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX WHEN MY CAR STOPPED OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR STOPPED AND THE MESSAGE APPEAR WHILE STILL ON DRIVE. WHEN I LOOKED OVER THE SHIFT SHIFTER, THE PRND WERE ALL LIGHTEN UP IN RED. I HAS CAUSING TRAFFIC AND HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED.
I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WHEN I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS HEADED THE TOWARDS ME. I SUSTAINED MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE IN A COLLISION AND THE CAR WAS TOTALED, AND NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE OTHER VEHICLE A CHRYSLER PACIFICA, SUSTAINED LESS FRONT END DAMAGE AND BOTH OF THEIR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH TO SPIN MY CAR COMPLETELY AROUND SO I WAS FACING THE OPPOSITE WAY AND ENDED UP FACING THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE CAR THAT HIT ME.
WHEN I START MY CAR, THE DASH SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND THE ' P R N D' ALL STAY LIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH/ MONTH AND A HALF. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT. IF I RESTART MY CAR, IT SEEMS TO GO AWAY FOR THE TIME BEING.
TRANSMISSION MISSES WHEN IT IS BOTH UP AND DOWN SHIFTING. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. CAR BALKS WHEN GOING UPHILL AND TRANSMISSION STRUGGLES. WHEN YOU ARE GOING DOWN HILL AND LIFT YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE TRANSMISSION BALKS AND STRUGGLES SHIFTING DOWN.
'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE KEEPS POPPING UP ON THE DASH, ACCOMPANIED BY ALL GEAR LIGHTS IN RED. USED TO STOP AFTER POWERING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN. I'VE SEEN THAT SO MANY OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL? SO UNFAIR FOR THOSE OF US OUTSIDE OF A WARRANTY.
I KEEP GETTING THE SERVICE THE SHIFTER MESSAGES
PURCHASED 75,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH TOB. AROUND 30,000 MOTOR REPLACED. OIL CONSUMPTION. NC. HAD IT AT MIDAS AT 67,584 MILES BECAUSE OF UNUSUAL NOISES IN THE FRONT END. HAD IT THERE TWICE, MIDAS GREENWOOD TWICE AND FLETCHER CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP RAM IN FRANKLIN INDIANA TWICE. EACH MADE REPAIRS TO IT COSTING ME $595 TOTAL IN OUT-OF-POCKET DEDUCTIBLES. BILLING TO WARRANTY COMPANY: MIDAS $1933.57, FLETCHER $618 AND TOB $2267 WHICH IS "THE MECHANIC" (MECHANICAL REPAIR SERVICE CONTRACT) TEL # 800-621-2130. CONTRACT # GW227456. THE VEHICLE HAD THESE ISSUES OF UNUSUAL NOISES ON ROUGH PAVEMENT, WANDERING WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP GOING THRU SHIFTING GEARS MOVING FROM RIGHT TO LEFT THEN BACK TO STRAIGHT THEN GOING BACK TO THE RIGHT EVERY TIME ON SHIFTING. AT 75,000 MILES THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND UP TO THAT TIME "NONE" OF THE COMPANIES FIGURED IT OUT NOR FIXED IT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE LEMON LAW DIDN'T APPLY. SO NOW AT 80194 MILES IT'S SO BAD THAT IT'S UNTRUSTWORTHY AND IT'S GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY. I CAN'T FIND ANYBODY TO FIX IT ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS OUT AND THE ONLY PLACE THAT WE CAN TRADE IT IS BACK AT TOB WHICH WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THEM. I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS FOR ALL REPAIRS MADE THAT DID NOT FIX IT. SO WE ARE STUCK. CAN'T FIX IT NOR TRADE AND GET A GOOD PRICE FOR IT.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THEN AGAIN ON STREET. THE "PRND" LIGHTS ALL LIGHT UP AS WELL. VEHICLE RETURNS TO NORMAL AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT, AND IF LIGHT/WARNING IS NOT ON THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD AND A MESSAGE STATING SHIFT TO PARK DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. A CASE WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
APRIL 2019 SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE KEPT GOING ON AND OFF TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WAS CHARGED TO REPLACE SHIFTER BEZEL KIT AND JUMPER WIRING. THEN IN JANUARY 2020 THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE CAME ON AND OFF AGAIN AND WAS NOW CHARGED TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER.. MESSAGE ALWAYS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND WENT OFF WHEN TURNED ENGINE OFF. I SE AS ARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR.

THANKFULLY, AFTER READING A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY, WE WERE STILL IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN REVERSE AND STARTED TO BACK OUT WHEN WARNING CAME UP TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN SELECT GEAR. SO PUT IN PARK AND PUT INTO DRIVE TO PULL BACK INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN WARNING CAME ON TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. READING OF A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS THIS SAME ISSUE, SOME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE
A MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE SHIFT" APPEARED IN THE MESSAGE BOARD AND RED LIGHTS CAME ON NEXT TO ALL SHIFTS, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY ON MY DRIVE TO WORK.
CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF ON RAMP. NO CONTROL BECAUSE CAR TURNED OFF.

ABOUT 13 MONTHS AFTER I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING APPEARED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. IF SO, NOT TO WORRY. THE WARNING APPEARED AGAIN ANOTHER FEW THOUSAND MILES LATER AND CONTINUES TO POP UP RANDOMLY EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT MAY BE A GLITCH THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD FIX, BUT HASN'T BEEN FIXED WITH UPDATES SO FAR. I JUST ROLLED OVER 36,000 MILES SO THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD THE SAME WARNING APPEARED TODAY. I'M CONCERNED THAT NOW THE ISSUE WILL REQUIRE A MAJOR HARDWARE REPLACEMENT THAT THEY WILL RECOMMEND NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. ONE OF MANY ISSUES WITH THIS JEEP. MY FIRST AND LAST TIME BUYING A JEEP.
KEEP GETTING A NOTIFICATION THAT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER" DASH LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER THAT LIGHT UP RED P,R,N,D. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM, BUT IS NOT A RECALL. I'VE DONE SOME HOMEWORK TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS IN FACT A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP AND HAS BEEN ONGOING. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT! AT FIRST THIS THE SERVICE SHIFTER WOULD APPEAR AFTER MY JEEP WAS STARTED AND GO AWAY ONCE I RESTARTED IT AND WOULD NOT APPEAR AGAIN. NOW THE "SERVICED SHIFTER " IS STAYING ON AND NOT ALLOWING ME TO SEE ANYTHING ON MY DASH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOTIFIED ME TO GET IT TO COME OFF I MUST PAY A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE PART. 2 OTHERS WHERE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE AT THE SAME TIME I WAS, AND AS YOU COULD IMAGINE NONE OF US WERE HAPPY TO LEARN THIS WAS NOT A RECALL. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES OF THE FAULTY GEAR SHIFTERS IN THESE JEEPS!!!!! AT FIRST THE NOTIFICATION CAME ON AT START UP, BUT NOW COMES ON WHILE DRIVING!!
"SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE WITH SOLID RED LIGHTS ON SHIFTER PANEL(P-R-D, ETC.). MESSAGE DISAPPEARS WHEN VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS SITUATION OCCURS RANDOMLY AND HAS APPEARED APPROXIMATELY 6-8 TIMES IN LAST SIX MONTHS. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IN IN MOTION AND AT NON HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE AND RED LIGHTS LIT BY GEARS ON SHIFT. IN MOTION. STARTING IT UP. ALL THE TIME
THE CAR DASHBOARD KEEP SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. THIS HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING ANYTIME ON ALL ROADS AND PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN THE MORNING AND AFTER MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF AT RANDOM TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND EVENING. COULD BE A CRANKING ISSUE AS IT HAPPENS MOSTLY WITHIN A HALF HOUR OF STARTING. EVERY INCIDENT WHERE THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING HAS BEEN ON A STREET AND WHILE ACCELERATING IN MOTION. BEFORE SHUTTING OFF, THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER, WILL SHUT OFF.
FOLLOWING DAY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH . DEALERSHIP CONTACTED AND VEHICLE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. DEALER CONCLUDED THAT ENGINE HAD NO OIL, ALTHOUGH INTERNAL INDICATORS FAILED TO ADVISE AND SHOWED VEHICLE HAD 60% OIL LIFE REMAINING AND 3000 MILES UNTIL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. DEALER ADVISED THAT VEHICLE IS KNOWN TO BURN OIL, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3X ALREADY. THE JEEP CHEREOKEE MANUAL STATES OIL CHANGES SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 8,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN GETTING MY OIL CHANGES WAY BEFORE THE STATED REQUIREMENT OF 8000. THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. I HAVE A 10 MONTH BABY AND I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IT RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN AND STALLS. IAM SO SCARED FOR MY LIFE EVERYTIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS ALL I HAVE . I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW!! MY ENGINE IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.
