4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND MONTHS APART WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT GOES ON. MAX SPEED AT THIS POINT IS ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR. EACH TIME I HAVE LIMPED THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY AND SHUTDOWN. I WAITING A FEW MINUTES THE CAR STARTS BACK UP AND DRIVES OK BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. WHEN I GET HOME OR WORK AND THE CAR IS PARKED FOR AN HOUR OR SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CLEARS AND BECAUSE OF THIS DEALERSHIP CAN NOT CODE IT. NOT SURE IF IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE OR COMPUTER ISSUE. SEEMS VERY RANDOM BUT ONLY OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WITH NO PROOF AND IT BEING RANDOM DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. SAW A NEWS REPORT FOR A RECALL BUT NOT MY VIN, BUT THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM WAS VERY MUCH THE SAME. JEEP SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED DURING ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS.
THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AS IF IN THE PROCESS OF STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN, WHENEVER THE CAR WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR ACCELERATING THE STALL LIKE JERKING WOULD OCCUR AGAIN.
MAKING A LEFT TURN, ENGINE SHUT OFF NO POWER, STATED I MUST BE IN PARK TO SHIFT WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING (ALL KINDS). WOULD NOT RESTART FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. RAN FINE PRIOR TO THIS. FINALLY RESTARTED AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP (ITS ONLY ABOUT A MILE AWAY). EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED THEY HAD NO CLUE WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN BUT THEY CHECKED OIL WHICH WAS VERY LOW (WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE). CHANGED OIL AND SO FAR SO GOOD. COMPLAINT - WHY WOULD ENGINE SHUT OFF BECAUSE OF THAT? WHY WOULD A BRAND NEW CAR WITH UNDER 30,000 MILES BURN THAT MUCH OIL? WHY DIDN'T THE INDICATOR TELL ME THERE WAS LOW OIL OR LOW OIL PRESSURE? IF THIS THING BURNS THAT MUCH OIL WITHIN THE ALLOTTED OIL CHANGE TIME - MAY NEED TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE - THIS IS DANGEROUS IF THE CAR SHUTS OFF ON A FREEWAY OR IN BUSY TRAFFIC.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT CAME ON AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ARE ALL RED,P,R,N,D. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS. THE CAR APPEARED TO BE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. AFTER STOPPING AND TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING THE LIGHTS WENT OFF.
I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND "SERVICE SHIFTER" POPPED UP ON MY DASH AND ALL THE SHIFT LIGHTS CAME ON, THE VEHICLE STILL MOVED AND I DROVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY TO WORK (APPROX 2 MILES)
I BOUGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE NEW, AT 17,896 MILES, A MESSAGE DISPLAYED "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER WERE LIT UP. A NEW SHIFTER WAS INSTALLED. THEN AT 67,631 MILES, SAME THING HAPPENED THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING. BOTH TIMES, THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BUT RUNNING IN A PARKING LOT.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS RECENTLY PRESENTED A SAFETY ISSUE. TWICE, IN THE LAST TWO DAYS, THE TRANSMISSION HAS CUT OUT AS I MADE A LEFT TURN. A MESSAGE APPEARED, "PUT IN P TO CHANGE GEARS." LUCKILY, BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED, I WAS TURNING OFF THE ROADS AND INTO A PARKING LOT. IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE. WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. I FEEL THIS IS A DIRE SAFETY ISSUE! BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME SO I IMMEDIATELY DROVE BACK HOME. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE JEEP SERVICE DEPT. TOMORROW. TIME WILL TELL WHAT THEY SAY.
OVERHEATS TEMP GOES UP TO 240 DEGREES AND THE SHIFTER KEEPS ACTING UP. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP IN RED BOTH KEEP HAPPENING ALMOST WEEKLY.
WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, "SHIFTER SERVICE" LIGHT CAME ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. I WAS A LITTLE SCARED AS ALL THE TRANSMISSION LIGHTS CAME ON (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL DRIVE) AND I COULD NOT TELL HOW FAST I WAS GOING. SINCE THE CAR DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE DRIVING ISSUES I CONTINUED THE 20 MILES TO HOME. WHEN WE TURNED THE CAR OFF THE WARNING DID NOT COME BACK ON WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. AFTER CHECKING THIS ISSUE ONLINE I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. AND IT SEEMS THAT JEEP IS NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. JEEP DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS CAUSED BY U1465-00 AND P1C86-1D CODES, AND ARE GOING TO REPLACE SHIFT BEZEL AND HARNESS. MORE THAN A FEW PEOPLE ONLINE SAID THE SAME PROBLEM CAME BACK AFTER THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS COME ON FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2016. IT'S BEEN SERVICED TWICE AND LAST TIME I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND I SHOULDN'T BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE THIRD REPLACEMENT OF A FAULTY SHIFTER.
ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS (3 SO FAR) THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON. BY SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION THE PROBLEM WOULD CLEAR. ON NUMEROUS OTHER OCCASIONS I GOT A "CHECK TRANSMISSION" ...UNKNOWN PROBLEM WARNING. THESE WARNING MESSAGES ALL OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON CITY STREETS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER AND A CHECK CAME UP WITH "TRANSMISSION MODULATOR, UNKNOWN PROBLEM" WAS NOTED. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE BUT THE MESSAGES CLEARED ON IT'S OWN (2 OCCASIONS FOR THE TRANSMISSION WARNING). THE DEALER ADVISED ME THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE WITHOUT THE MESSAGE BEING ACTIVE.
JEEP ONLY HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON...IT ILLUMINATES MY ENTIRE GEAR SHIFT RED AND THE NOTIFICATION TAKES AWAY MY SPEDOMETER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 62 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO BELOW 40 MPH. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SPEED UP. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SLOWLY DROVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. SPITZER MOTOR CITY INC (13001 BROOKPARK RD, BROOK PARK, OH 44142, (216) 267-2100) AND THE MANUFACTURER BATTLED WITH THE CONTACT FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS 200 MILES OVER THE LIMIT. THE DEALER OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS AS LONG AS THE CONTACT AGREED TO A TWO YEAR CONTRACT FOR OIL CHANGE SERVICE. THE CONTACT REFUSED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,250.
WHILE DRIVING, MY JEEP WILL COME UP WITH A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER WILL COME ON. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
I JUST PURCHASED THE JEEP A MONTH AGO & IT HAS 43,000 MILES. WHEN THE JEEP IS IN GEAR A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE POPS UP ON DASH. ONCE IT POPS UP YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR MILES PER HOUR UNTIL YOU PULL OVER, SHUT THE JEEP OFF & RESTART. I WAS PULLED OVER & CITED FOR MY SPEED BUT I HAD NOWHERE TO PULL OF THE HIGHWAY TO. I FEEL LIKE IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE MESSAGE ONLY POPS UP RANDOMLY EVERY THREE OR 4 DAYS & EVERYONE I CALL SAY THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS & IT NOTHING COMES UP WHEN HOOK UP CODE READER.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON DASH MONITOR. ALL LIGHTS TURNED RED NEXT TO SHIFTER.
MY AIRBAG LIGHTS JUST RANDOMLY CAME ON AND I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING OR NOTHING HIT ME AND I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR TWO MONTHS AGO.
MY RADIO DOESN'T GET SIGNAL ANYWHERE. I GET ONE STATION AND EVEN IT HAS STATIC. IT'S NOT JUST IN MY HOMETOWN EITHER. WHEN I GO ON TRIPS IT IS NOTHING BUT STATIC AND THEN YOU FIND A STATION EVERY NOW AND THEN. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS, BUT IT HAS DONE IT THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHILE DRIVING, AND HESITATES. LOOKS LIKE ENGINE IS SHAKEN. THE DEALER STATES THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.
AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED. AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK THEM ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MONEY AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM. NOW AT 56,000 MILES THIS SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON AGAIN AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AS SOON AS I SHIFTED INTO PARK, STAYED ON UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF, DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR THE NEXT 20 MILES.
AROUND 76K ON 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT ENGINE THAT MESSED UP GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, I QUICKLY EXITED THEN IT SHUT OFF AND DID NOT WANT TO STAY RUNNING. NOW DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ZERO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDERS. I KEPT OIL CHANGED EVERY 3K DUE TO DAILY MILES. IT IS TERRIBLE THAT THE MANUFACTURE CANNOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE WITH ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. HAVING TO REPLACE SHIFTER AND SHIFTING HARNESS. WHEN WARNING CAME ON ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND WAS NOT ABLE TO USE SHIFTER.

AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF OWNING THE CAR THE ERROR MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" CAME ON. THE MESSAGE COMES AND GOES WITHOUT WARNING USUALLY AFTER DRIVING THE CAR OVER AN EXTENDED TIME PERIOD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT LOCKS YOU OUT OF THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER AND YOU HAVE TO RESET IT BY HOLDING A FEW BUTTONS AND IT WILL COME BACK ON.
WATER COLLECTS IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN OR GOING THROUGH A CARWASH. ELECTRICAL FIRE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE COMPONENTS BEING UNDER WATER. WELDING ISSUE? REFER TO NHTSA RECALL R67. THIS AUTO IS DEMONSTRATING ALL SYMPTOMS BUT THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
48K MILES ON A 2016. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. MESSAGE APPEARS ON DASH TO "SERVICE SHIFTER". ALL IF THE LIGHTS IN THE SHIFTER ARE NOW LIT UP. HAD TO PULL OVER AND GO THROUGH THE OWNER MANUAL ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ONCE THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, MESSAGE HAS NOT REAPPEARED.

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WE GET A MESSAGE IN THE DASH THAT SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER AND THE RED LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER WHICH INDICATE WHICH GEAR YOU ARE IN ALL LIGHT UP AT THE SAME TIME, PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE, & DRIVE. IF WE PULL OVER AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF IT CLEARS THE ERROR AND STAYS OFF FOR A WHILE. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED OCCURRING, I TOLD THE SERVICE WRITER WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT JOHN L SULLIVAN IN YUBA CITY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT GIVING A CODE SO IF IT WASN'T HAPPENING AT THE WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN HE COULDN'T HELP. SO IT WAS ONLY HAPPENING EVERY FEW MONTHS SO I DIDN'T WORRY AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING DAILY AND I AM SURE JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THE SAME EXACT THING. NOT SURE IF IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT IT IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD OWN UP TO AND TAKE CARE OF ON THEIR DIME. IT HAPPENS AT ANY TIME IT'S MOVING REGARDLESS OF SPEED.THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS BUT JUST RECENTLY ALMOST EVERY DAY.
MY GEAR SHIFT KEEPS LIGHTING UP AND IT TELLS ME SERVICE GEAR SHIFT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I TURN OFF MY CAR AND RESTART IT. THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FREQUENTLY. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT THE CODE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED, IT DID NOT WORK AND I EVEN TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I WAS CLOSE BY. HE JUST SAYS BRING IT IN. I TOOK IT IN TODAY AND HE TOLD ME UNLESS THEY FIND SOMETHING WHEN THEY RUN IT, THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANY THING TO IT. THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVE THE POWER SHIFTER MESSAGED APPEARED, EVERY TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF THEN WHILE DRIVING WOULD COME BACK ON EFFECTING THE WAY THE VEHICLE DROVE. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE A SENSOR NOW MY ENGINE IS KNOCKING AND HARD SHIFTING. I KEPT UP ON OIL CHANGES AND OTHER MAINTENANCE THE CARE IS ONLY AT 44K FOR THE MILES.
MY SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEP COMING ON WITH CODE P2803. SPOKE WITH THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ISSUED FOR IT AS IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 7/23/2019. CODE AND LIGHT CAM ON THE FIRST TIME 8/27/2019 AND WAS CLEARED THEN IT CAME ON AGAIN 9/19/209, WAS CLEARED THAT MORNING AND CAME BACK ON THAT AFTERNOON.
'SERVICE SHIFTER' APPEARS ON DASH. ALL LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON SHIFTER PRND
MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE OCCURRING WHILE DRIVING OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER DEPARTURE. MUST PLACE CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF VEHICLE. RESTART VEHICLE NO FURTHER ISSUES. DOES NOT TYPICALLY REOCCUR WITHIN A FEW DAYS. 1-6 WEEKS BETWEEN OCCURRENCE. NO ERROR MESSAGE, NO ISSUES NOTED BY MECHANIC. CONCERNING FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THIS DID NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE, AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN WHICH I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY. AFTER COUPLE TIMES OF ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FINE TO WORK. THIS WAS REALLY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WITH I HAD NO ENGINE PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY TO WARN THAT SUCH THING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.

THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO START FOR A FEW MOMENTS THEN RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. BAYIRD DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM OF WEST MEMPHIS (1901 E. SERVICE RD, WEST MEMPHIS, AR 72301, (870) 394-9608) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT LINKED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
BANGS INTO 2ND OR 3RD GEAR INTERMITTENTLY AFTER A STOP OR WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS 25-30 MPH ESPECIALLY. MOST ERRATIC IN CITY DRIVING. THE JOLT IS SO HARD THE DRIVER TAKES NOTICE. THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE AT TIME FROM A STOP THEN JUMP FORWARD LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL CAUSING FRONT WHEELS TO SPIN. AT LOWER SPEEDS IN CITY THE VEHICLE HAS A DELAY FROM ENGINE TO TRANSMISSION CAUSING A JERKING MOTION EVEN WHEN PRESSING EVER SO LITELY ON GAS PEDDLE. THE TRANSMISSION HOLDS GEARS AGGRESSIVELY BEFORE UP SHIFTING, SO ENGINE SPEED HANGS HIGH BETWEEN SHIFTS. THE VEHICLE SHIFTS OCCASIONALLY IMMEDIATELY INTO 2ND GEAR FROM A STOP AND THEN DRAGS IT OUT AND CLUNKS INTO 3RD GEAR CAUSING UNTIMELY SHIFTING. LITHIA JEEP AND PELLETIER JEEP BOTH DID SOFTWARE UPDATES WITH MARGINAL IMPROVEMENT OR MADE IT WORSE. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION UP SHIFTS TO SOON OFTEN FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. VEHICLE AT TIMES HAS MIND OF ITS OWN FOR TRANSMISSION NEVER REALLY KNOWING WHAT TO MAKING NOT VERY PREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE SPEED CONTROL IS DANGEROUS AND A NIGHTMARE. ALL PRND INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER UNIT ILLUMINATE AT ONCE, AND STAY LIT. "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING APPEARS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY. WHEN "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING IS DISPLAYED, CANNOT BE TURNED OFF AND DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER READINGS (OR OTHER INFORMATION) ARE NO LONGER DISPLAYED. PRND SHIFTER INDICATOR LIGHTS BLINK SPORADICALLY UNTIL WARNING FINALLY DISPLAYS. LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED AFTER WARNING APPEARS. PRND LIGHTS AND DISPLAY WARNING APPEAR WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED/STATIONARY AS WELL AS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. STARTED SPORADICALLY, ROUGHLY 6 MONTHS AGO (EARLY 2019) AND WOULD TYPICALLY GO AWAY IF VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RE-STARTED. THESE WARNINGS NOW HAPPEN DAILY, EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE, AND ALMOST NEVER GO AWAY. UPON RESEARCHING THIS CONCERN ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT MANY HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SINCE AROUND 2012. MOST WEB INQUIRES INDICATE THAT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO A WIRING HARNESS? I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $700 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER, AND THAT IF I DO NOT REPLACE, I COULD FIND MYSELF UNABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON AND TURNS OFF WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. ALSO OVERHEAD LIGHTS ABOVE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TURN ON AND OFF OCCASIONALLY.THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION AND ARE RANDOM. ALSO WHEN IN REVERSE, SOMETIMES THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGES.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed while standing almost up. In addition, the electronic brake failure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with brake booster failure. The contact was informed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated the failure had occurred three times, and the brake booster was replaced after each failure. In addition, the contact stated that on two occasions, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V572000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 74,407.
JEEP CHEROKEE WOULDN'T START. IT TRIES TO TURN OVER, ALL OF THE LIGHTS AND THE RADIO COME ON, BUT THE ENGINE WON'T START. I'VE TRIED JUMPING IT AND MADE SURE THERE WAS ENOUGH GAS, AND STILL HAD NO LUCK. HAPPENED LAST WEEK, HAD BATTERY CHECKED AND IT WAS FINE.
MY VEHICLE RANDOMLY HAS THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT COME ON AND STAY ON. THE DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND DON'T KNOW THE CAUSE. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL RANDOM TIMES. SITTING, MOVING, CITY, HIGHWAY, GOING STRAIGHT, TURNING. IT DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO SEE MY LARGE SPEED LIMIT ON MY SCREEN. MANY PEOPLE REPORT THE SAME ISSUE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER.
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET AT APPROX. 35MPH, MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF, STATING "SHIFT TO P AND THEN DESIRED GEAR" AND THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS BEFORE THIS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, AND WAS THEN HESITANT TO RESTART. AFTER STARTING, THE VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD A BIT BUT WOULD NOT PROPERLY DRIVE, AND WAS TOWED HOME AND THEN ULTIMATELY TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSIONS ISSUE AND WAS ALSO FOUND TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE BATTERY 3 WEEKS AGO, SO THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF THIS VEHICLE CONTINUE TO GROW. AFTER RESEARCHING, I LEARNED THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE, OFTEN CAUSED BY LOW OIL, OR NO CAUSE FOUND. THERE ARE HIGH RISKS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FOR A VEHICLE THAT WILL JUST SHUT DOWN AT WILL WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
