TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE DEALER (HERITAGE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OWINGS MILLS, 11212 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117) WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
MY TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO SLIP, MOSTLY WHEN I'M DRIVING AT A SLOWER SPEED; IS THAT NORMAL FOR A CAR I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD FOR 2 YEARS? I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS A RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT COULD BE MAKING IT DO THIS? I'M WORRIED; I'LL NEED TO GET IT LOOKED AT FOR SURE.

WHILE DRIVING THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE AT 60 MPH WITH THE JEEP IN TOW, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE JEEP WAS SWAYING VIGOROUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN JEEP DEALER (THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ON VACATION), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WHILE TOWING THE JEEP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT 2016 GOT STUCK IN A GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. IT HAPPENED 5 TIMES ON MY WAY HOME FROM A ROAD TRIP AND WAS VERY DANGEROUS. THE JEEP APPARENTLY NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND I BELIEVE I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 30K MILES ON IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SIEMANS CHRYSLER DODGE RAM JEEP (8691 RED ARROW HWY, BRIDGMAN, MI 49106) AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO ADD OIL TO THE VEHICLE EVERY 1,000 MILES TO KEEP IT FROM RUNNING LOW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. *TT UPDATED 12/13/18*JB
VEHICLE WAS HEADING DOWN A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. ANOTHER CAR PULLED INTO TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF JEEP AND HIT HEAD ON. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE DRIVER WAS SEVERELY INJURED.
I WAS DRIVING TO TOWN AND THE LOW OIL PRESSER LIGHT CAME ON I GET OFF THE ROAD THEN MY CAR DIED I WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART IT. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS EMPTY? I PUT 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN IT AND THEM IT STATED RIGHT UP. I TOOK IT TO THE CAR LOT THE NEXT DAY AND THERE WAS ONLY 1 QUART OF OIL IN IT. AT THIS TIME I HAD ONLY DROVE IT 23 MILES SINCE I HAD PUT THE OIL IN THERE, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT ANY LEAKS AND THAT THEY WOULD FILL IT UP AND FOR ME TO COME BACK IN A WEEK. I REALLY HOPE THAT I CAN MAKE IT A WEEK WITH THE OIL THEY PUT IN THERE I HAVE SET THE MILLAGE THING IN THE CAR TO 0 AND I WILL SEE HOW MANY MILES I DRIVE AND IF IT IS OUT OF OIL WHEN I GO BACK.
THREE TIMES RECENTLY I WAS PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. I THOUGHT THE ENGINE HAD DIED BUT IT WAS STILL ON/RUNNING. THEN ON A SEPARATE INCIDENT I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH WHEN THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON AND THE SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO 20 MPH AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BATTERY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CENTURY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM, 13500 VETERANS MEMORIAL PKWY, WENTZVILLE, MO 63385), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTING HAD BEEN SWITCHING BETWEEN DAY AND NIGHT MODE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THEN WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AND GAVE A MESSAGE "YOU MUST BE IN PARK BEFORE SHIFTING GEARS". THE ENGINE THEN STOPPED. THIS OCCURRED IN A ROTARY, LUCKILY ON A QUIET STREET. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND IT APPEARED FINE.
TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY GOES INTO NEUTRAL & THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS PULLING OUT ON AN EXTREMELY BUSY HIGHWAY & MAKING A RIGHT TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. MY CAR FROZE IN THE LANE & 3 CARS NEARLY HIT ME AT HIGH SPEEDS SWERVING AROUND ME. I BROUGHT IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY & AFTER A FEW HOURS, THEY CALLED & SAID IT WAS READY & IT WAS JUST A "SOFTWARE UPDATE". WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY THIS TIME WHILE MAKING A LEFT TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. I WAS IN THE MEDIAN WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR & WHEN IT DID, I WENT - AGAIN IT WAS LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL & THIS TIME I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI-TRUCK WHO NEARLY JACK-KNIFED TRYING NOT TO HIT ME. BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP I WENT EXPRESSING MY TERROR & THE FACT THERE IS NO WAY I FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR UNTIL IT'S FIXED. I'M SUPPOSE TO PUT MY 15 YEAR-OLD SON BEHIND THE WHEEL OF IT WHEN HE GETS HIS PERMIT IN A FEW WEEKS?? TODAY IS THURSDAY & MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE 7:30AM LAST FRIDAY. I HAVE TO PICK IT UP TOMORROW AFTER WORK. THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THEY "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" & RECOMMENDED I "DRIVE WITH THEIR TECHNICIAN TO SEE IF IT CAN BE DUPLICATED WITH HIM IN THE CAR..." SERIOUSLY!? CONSIDERING THIS IS A RANDOM/INTERMITTENT ISSUE, & DOES NOT COME WITH WARNING, THE DUPLICATION EFFORT IS NOT LIKELY. I RELAYED THE RESEARCH I HAD DONE SINCE ONLINE & RECOMMENDED LOOKING AT THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT HAVE CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME CAR. EXPLAINING THEY DESCRIBE THE SAME PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING. I WAS TOLD THEY "CANNOT USE INFORMATION FOUND ON GOOGLE" & "THEY'VE CHECKED ALL SOFTWARE UPDATES, RECALLS, & TSR'S..." BUT "THEY'RE ALL BASED ON THE DATE IT WAS BUILT & NOTHING'S COME UP". I AM LITERALLY TERRIFIED TO DRIVE. I KNOW THERE'S A LEMON LAW HERE, BUT I'M AFRAID THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS I MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY. HELP!!??
WHEN GOING DOWN INCLINE THE ENGINE AND RPMS GAUGE SURGE UP AND DOWN.
SHORTLY AFTER FUELING MY VEHICLE MY VEHICLE WILL LOSE ALL ACCELERATION. IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS FIRST PURCHASED AND CONTINUES WITH 30,000 MILES. IT OCCURS ABOUT 70% OF THE TIME AFTER FUELING. THE MOST RECENT OCCOURANCES CAUSED ME TO STALL ON A MAJOR ROADWAY. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY A TRAILER. IN ORDER FOR ME TO GAIN POWER AGAIN I MUST SHIFT TURN THE CAR OFF SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN RESTART THE CAR..
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee was RANDOMLY coming up with "Service Shifter" warning light. The dealers tell me they "can't replicate the problem" even though it still happens and THOUSANDS online complain about the same issue. If this is a serious shifter issue, it could cause problems driving. I have figured out that if I cover the sunlight sensor on the dashboard when the lights are set to auto (effectively keeping the interior lights dimmer) I can drive without the warning coming up. Within SECONDS of uncovering it, the interior lights brighten and the "Service Shifter" warning comes on instantly. THAT is why I think it's electrical. The fact that Jeep is shrugging it's shoulders and doesn't acknowledge a problem is absolutely disgusting!
MY CAR WON'T START INTERMITTENTLY AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT STARTED AFTER 15 MINUTES OF BEING IN THE FAST LANE WITH MY FLASHERS ON WHICH WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT EASILY. THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURING AMONG A LOT OF CUSTOMERS OF JEEP. THEY NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE.
WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALL LIGHT WENT OFF AND BRAKE PEDAL STUCK DOWN. I PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED KEY. TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE AND NOTHING STARTED... LIGHT JUST CAME ON THE DASH WITH EVERY ITEM FLICKING. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STILL STUCK DOWN. IF I OUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, UNABLE TO PUSH VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO REMOVE PARKING BREAK. KEEP IN MIND I'M AT A VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC INTERSECTION. TOOK ABOUT 5 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR TOLD ME TO PRESS BREAK TO RELEASE PARKING BREAK . I TURNED THE KEY AND THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. NOW I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP. MY CAR HAS 19300 MILES.... NOTHING TO THIS EXTENT SHOULD BE GOING WRONG.
SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DRIVING ON I270 IN MARYLAND AND COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER AT 60MPH AND HAD TO CAREFULLY COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELARATE ANYMORE. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW BACK IN VIRGINIA AFTER GETTING TOWED FROM I270. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 27000 MILES.
2/12/18 ,2016 JEEP CHEROKEE, 26,300 MILES. DRIVING ON I-5 IN WASHINGTON TO SEATTLE TP PICK UP MY PREGNANT WIFE FROM THE AIRPORT ABOUT 45 MILES FROM HOME SPEED WAS 72 MPH. SERVICE TRANSMISSION DISPLAYED ON DASH WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WOULD REV BUT SLOWLY ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. ONCE STOPPED THE CAR WOULD REV BUT BARLEY MOVE FORWARD. PULLED INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE FOR ANY FLUIDS. ONCE I STARTED THE CAR IT WOULD CREEP FORWARD SLOWLY UNTIL IT REACHED 45MPH. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION CLEARED FROM THE DISPLAY BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY BUT SHIFTED ROUGH. TURNED AROUND TO HEAD HOME THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION DISPLAYED AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER AGAIN TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF AND RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON BUT LIMPED 45 MILES HOME. I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR THE VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF! IT HAD 14500 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE SYSTEM HAD JUST STARTED TELLING ME THE OIL WAS DUE TO BE CHANGED, IT WAS GOING TO BE THE 4TH OIL CHANGE. AFTER 15 MINUTES THE CAR JUST RESTARTED LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. AFTER A LITTLE GOOGLE SEARCHING I DECIDED TO CHECK THE OIL AND THE DIPSTICK HAD JUST A SLIGHT TRACE OF OIL..I CALLED THE DEALER QUESTIONED THEM AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE SINCE THEY JUST SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I NOW CHECK MY OIL EVERY 2000 MILES SO IT DOESN'T RUN LOW CAUSING AN ENGINE PROBLEM THAT WILL BE MY FAULT.
TODAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2018 I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AND MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE AND IT SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING IT. I WAS ON A BUSY STREET IN MY TOWN AND ALMOST GOT T-BONED BY ANOTHER CAR. I AM 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I FEARFUL TO STEP BACK INTO MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY A DINGING NOISE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE CAME UP LOST ALL POWER WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE TRAFFIC BEHIND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS MY CAR ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT
I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE END OF NOVEMBER 2016. ABOUT 1 YEAR INTO OWNING THE CAR, A CURIOUS NOTE BEGAN TO POP UP READING "SERVICE SHIFTER." WHEN THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO JEEP DEALERSHIP TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS MAKING THE NOTIFICATION COME ON AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANT. I IGNORED THIS FOR THE TIME BEING. IN THE NEXT YEAR, THE MESSAGE MUST HAVE SHOWN A MINIMUM OF 20 TIMES, IN 2020 IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND LEFT ALONE FOR HOURS, THE MESSAGE WILL NOT APPEAR AGAIN. I DON'T KNOW IF ANYTHING CAUSES THIS TO HAPPEN AS I'VE DRIVEN IN COLD WEATHER, HOT WEATHER, OFF ROAD, SMOOTH ROAD AND THERES NO CONSISTNENT BEHAVIOR THAT CAUSES THE NOTIFICATION OF SERVICE SHIFTER. OFTEN TIMES THE MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR AND THE SHIFTING IN AUTOMATIC MODE WOULD BE LESS SMOOTH AND TRANSITION WORSE THAN WITHOUT THE MESSAGE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME IT SHOWED AND EACH TIME I GET THE SAME RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP; "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT MAKES THIS MESSAGE APPEAR," "WE CAN'T MAKE IT APPEAR WHILE ITS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP" "WE'VE NEVER SEEN THIS MESSAGE BEFORE" "THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO". IT IS CONCERNING THAT OVER THIS 3.5 YEAR PERIOD, THERE IS NOT DIAGNOSIS OR THE ISSUE OR ANY UNDERSTANDING OF IT. I AM SUBMITTING THIS MESSAGE TO ENSURE THERE IS A DATABASE FOR JEEP OWNERS WHO RECEIVED THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTE.

"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE HAD MY CAR LOOKED AT A COUPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUES AND NO LUCK GETTING IT FIXED. WHILE DRIVING ON BOTH HIGHWAY AND REGULAR ROADS I WILL GET A WARNING CHIME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SERVICE PARKING BRAKE, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE- OVERHEATED LIGHTS COME ON. I THEN LOSE POWER STEERING, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES VERY STIFF AND THE BRAKES STOP WORKING. IT IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER TIME, TO NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR VEHICLE. I AM PREGNANT AND HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD CHILD AND DO NOT WANT THIS JEEP ANYMORE UNLESS FIXED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE WITH THE SAME JEEP EVEN DIFFERENT YEARS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE HELP! THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM? MY 2016 CHEROKEE DIES WHILE I'M DRIVING (CITY & HIGHWAY ["DINGED" BUT DIDN'T DIE-I WON'T DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY]). IT IS FRIGHTENING AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO WHEN OR WHY THIS HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS REPEATEDLY AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT IDENTIFY NOR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE COMPUTER DOESN'T REGISTER ANY CODES AND DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THAT THE VEHICLE HAS DIED. NOTHING SHOWS ON THE DASHBOARD EITHER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE IS A "DING" AND THE CAR DIES. I HAVE BEEN READING (ONLINE) MANY OTHER IDENTICAL ACCOUNTS OF THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHERS WHO WON THE 2015 & 2016 CHEROKEE MODELS. MY CAR IS, YET AGAIN, AT THE DEALERSHIP. PLEASE HELP ME? THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. AND, OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING EXACTLY THE SAME THING. THANK YOU!
JEEP WOBBLE. I WAS TOWING MY VEHICLE BEHIND MY MOTOR HOME. I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 300 MILES WITHOUT PROBLEMS. NEAR THE END OF MY TRIP I MADE A RIGHT TURN. JUST AFTER MAKING THE TURN I FELT A VIOLENT SHAKING. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED ESTIMATED TO BE 20 TO 25 MILE PER HOUR. I LOOKED INTO THE REAR CAMERA AND WAS ABLE TO SEE THE VEHICLE OSCILLATING FROM SIDE TO SIDE.I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO A STOP TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP. SINCE I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC I CONTINUED ON TO A SAFE PLACE. AFTER PROCEEDING ABOUT A MILE TO MY DESTINATION, I HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP CONCERNING THE ISSUE. THEY STATED THAT IT WAS ON ME TO BUY A WIRING KIT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON DECEMBER 31, 2017, I TOLD THE DEALER THAT I WAS IN THE MARKET FOR A VEHICLE FOR TOWING. THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE WITH THE EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR TOWING IN STOCK BUT STATED THEY COULD GET ONE FROM LOUISVILLE KY. I AGREED TO HAVE GET IT. IN SHORT I PURCHASE A VEHICLE THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS READY FOR TOWING. AT NOW TIME DURING THE SALES PROCESS OR AFTER WAS I EVER NOTIFIED A A WIRING PACKAGE REQUIREMENT. I JUST LEARNED OF IT IN RECENT DAYS WHEN I HAD IT IN THE SHOP. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR THE FIX AND NOT ME AS THE CONSUMER BASED ON THEIR REPRESENTATION THAT THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR TOWING.
ENGINE THERMOSTAT WENT BAD AROUND 60,000 MILES. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT WARM UP TO TEMPERATURE ON COLD DAYS AND WOULD NOT STAY COOL ENOUGH ON WARM DAYS. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE DIDN'T SOUND LIKE IT SHOULD WHEN RUNNING. THE THERMOSTAT HAD TO BE REPLACED, COSTING ALMOST $500 FOR A FIX THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE COST THAT MUCH.
SINCE MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, 11048717 I WAS DENIED A BUY BACK BY FCA, LLC VIA FIRST CLASS MAIL STATING I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE UNDER GA LEMON LAW REGARDLESS OF IT BEING OUT OF SERVICE MORE THAN 30 DAYS. SINCE THIS LETTER THE VEHICLE HAS DIED 3 TIMES WHILE IN MOTION AND CONTINUES TO SKIP ALONG WITH A DECREASE IN RPMS WHILE IDLING (OBSERVED MY DEALERSHIP SERVICE). I ALSO HAD SMOKE AND A STRONG ODOR COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITH NO REASON AS TO WHY. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A TOTAL RECALL SINCE IT IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR SO MANY PEOPLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND I HEARD AN AUDIBLE ALERT WHILE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIT ON THE DISPLAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED INTO THE RIGHT LANE TO GET OFF THE NEXT EXIT, AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING LIGHTLY. AS I WAS ON THE EXIT RAMP, MY GAS PEDAL WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. SEEMS LIKE IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. I GLIDED TO A STOP AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE SOME PHONE CALLS. THERE WAS A TECH SERVICE BULLETIN "TO REPROGRAM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WITH UPDATED SOFTWARE". I FEEL THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT JUST A TECH SERVICE BULLETIN. THE DEALER WAS EXCELLENT IN HANDLING THIS SITUATION, BUT I'D LIKE TO SEE THIS PROBLEM TURN INTO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE TROUBLE CODE THEY FOUND IS "P088700 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CIRCUIT". THANK YOU.
MY CAR IS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE AND ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. I KEEP UP WITH MY MAINTENANCE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY HEAT ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MOBILE, AL THIS MORNING AND THEY ARE SAYING MY WARRANTY FOR THIS IS UP. THEN, A FEW WEEKS LATER, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AFTER FULL STOP AT REDLIGHT ON A MULTI LANE ROAD WITH A CENTER MEDIAN. WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART IN 4WD TO LIMP OFF ROAD, BEFORE TRANSMISSION SHUT DOWN AGAIN. ON/OFF RESTORED FUNCTION AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE DIRECTLY TO DEALER. CAR ?REPAIRED? BUT HOURS AFTER RETURN FROM DEALER SIMILAR PROBLEM ATTEMPTING TO ENTER A LIMITED ACCESS HI-WAY: TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. PROBLEM OF DRIVE TRAIN ENGAGING HAS ALSO OCCURRED FROM A COLD START, AND IT TOOK SEVERAL ON/OFF CYCLES TO ENGAGE TRANSMISSION AND GET CAR BACK TO DEALER. DEALER HAS FOCUSED ON ADAPTIVE SENSORS AND WIRING HARNESS (BECAUSE OF A LOW VOLTAGE READING), WHICH MAKE NO SENSE TO ME. CONFUSION CREATED BECAUSE WITH EACH TRANSMISSION FAILURE EVERY WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WENT OFF. READING THESE NHTSA BULLETINS, I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR POSTINGS ABOUT THE POWER TRAIN NOT ENGAGING, SO I KNOW MY PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED. I MENTIONED TO DEALER A 2016 GRAND CHEROKEE RECALL FOR BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID, WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE CAUSED A SIMILAR TRANSMISSION DISENGAGEMENT MY SUGGESTION WAS DISMISSED. CAR ONLY 1 YEAR OLD AND I HAVE BARELY HAD USE IN LAST 45 DAYS. WE ARE NOT CRAZY, AND WE HAVE A GOOD BASIS OF COMPARISON THAT SOMETHING IS FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG AND STILL UNDIAGNOSED. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON. NOTHING ELSE SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED, SOMETIMES WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON THE LIGHT DISAPPEARS. OTHER TIMES, IT REMAINS ON. THE DRIVE ABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS UNAFFECTED, HOW EVER SOMETHING IS OBVIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS. THIS FIRST OCCURRED WHEN BACKING FROM MY DRIVEWAY, I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE DINGED, AND THE LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH. NOW IT WILL RANDOMLY DO IT, DOESN'T MATTER WHEN OR WHERE, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, OR SIMPLY TURNING ON THE VEHICLE.

I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN. DRIVING ON HWY 11/25/17 AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION MSG CAME ON. TRANSMISSION DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND CAUSED CAR TO BE STUCK IN ONE GEAR. WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND MADE IT TO DESTINATION. WHEN CAR WAS AT A STOP IT WAS HARD TO ACCELERATE BECAUSE IT WAS STUCK IN A HIGHER GEAR. WE TURNED IT OFF AND PUT IT IN PARK, WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED IT SEEMED TO RESET BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. RECURRED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME AS WELL AS ON 11/26/17. BROUGHT CAR INTO CHRYSLER DEALER ON 11/28/17. RODE WITH TECHNICIAN AND PROBLEM WAS DUPLICATED. ONCE CAR HITS 8TH GEAR ALL WARNINGS RETURN. DIAGNOSTIC TEST GAVE CODE FOR TCM POWER CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH,VEHICLE WAS FLASH REPROGRAMMED AND I WAS ADVISED THAT IT SHOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS WAS MOST RECENT SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH CAME ON 4/4/17. AFTER A TEST DRIVE ISSUE CURRENTLY SEEMS RESOLVED. REPORTING IT BECAUSE IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT AND WANT IT KNOWN THAT NEWER MODELS ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT MAKES IT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY.
JEEP 2016 POWER LIFTGATE WON'T OPEN OR CLOSE. THIS LEADS TO THE INABILITY TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE LIFTGATE, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY LUMINATED. THERE ARE RECALLS; HOWEVER MY VIN ISN'T LISTED. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER WHO CHANGED THE STRUT FOR OVER $300 AND IT STILL OCCURS.
I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS WERE FROZEN IN PLACE AND THE ELICTRICAL EQUIPMENT ON THE DASH WENT HAYWIRE FOR A MOMENT. THE MESSAGE CENTER THEN SHOWED THE MESSAGE "START STOP SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE/ PLEASE RETURN TO PARK, THEN CHOOSE DESIRED GEAR." I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON MY FLASHERS, BUT DESPITE SHIFTING TO PARK AND TO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE ENGINE DID NOT SEEM TO BE RUNNING. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON WITH THE KEY SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE TURNED OVER. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT THE NEXT TWO STOP LIGHTS. I DROVE ABOUT THREE MILES PAST THE THIRD STOPLIGHT, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 55 MPH. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I TURNED ON MY FLASHERS AND CAME TO A FULL STOP COASTING WITH NO BRAKES AND NO ABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON WITH THE KEY AGAIN AND THE CAR SEEMED "FINE." I USED THE DASH BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE AUTO-OFF MECHANISM AND DROVE THE LAST TEN MILES HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I'M NOT SURE WHETHER THE ESS SYSTEM IS RELATED TO THE MALFUNCTION, HOWEVER THE ERROR MESSAGE AND RESULT OF TURNING IT OFF SUGGESTS IT IS. I STILL HAVE A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "SERVICE AUTO ON OFF SYSTEM." CALLING DEALERSHIP TODAY.
FIRST THE CAR KEPT REPORTING THAT MY FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS LOW AND EVEN AFTER I CHECKED THE PRESSURE, IT CONTINUED TO DO SO. IT TOOK SEVERAL HOURS FOR IT TO STOP. NOW I HAVE A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ERROR AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER ARE ON. I HEAR A HIGH-PITCHED ELECTRONIC SOUND WHEN I SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL FORUMS AND THERE ARE CONSUMERS REPORTING THAT WHEN THAT HAPPENED TO THEM, THEIR WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED. A FEW OF THE CARS WERE TOTALED! I AM GOING TO CALL THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. APPARENTLY THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED ENOUGH FOR JEEP/CHRYSLER TO CONSIDER A RECALL. ONE LAST NOTE: WHEN THESE ERRORS LIGHT UP ON THE DASH, YOU CANNOT ACCESS ANY OTHER INFORMATION. YOU CANNOT EVEN SEE YOUR SPEEDOMETER.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,500.

WINDOW WOULD NOT GO DOWN WHEN THE SWITCH WAS PUSHED. LATER WHILE DRIVING WINDOW STARTED SLIDING DOWN BY ITSELF. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THE RETURN WAS BROKEN AND 2" OF THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW WAS BROKE OFF. NO ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE HAD BEEN DONE TO THE DOOR. BREAKAGE SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH EARLIER JEEP MODELS. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER REPAIR AND CHANGED OVER $900 TO REPAIR.
AUTO ON/OFF WILL STOP WORKING AND NOTIFY ME ON MY SCREEN. IT WILL STATE I NEED TO GET IT SERVICED. ALSO IT WILL POP UP THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER STOPS WORKING, AND NEED TO GET IT SERVICED. BOTH WILL DISAPPEAR AFTER ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON.

FIRST TIME , 21,218 MILES, DEALER SAID PROBABLY LOW ON OIL, BUT OIL CHANGE WAS NOT OVERDUE AND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EVER SHOWED. THEY DID OIL CHANGE AND THEN CHECKED CAR AT NEXT OIL CHANGE, THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. AT 30,930 MILES, CAR STALLED AGAIN DRIVING 30 MPH OUT OF NOWHERE. BARELY ABLE TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. DEALER AGAIN SAID OIL ISSUE AND WE ARE ADVISED TO RETURN TO DEALER IN 1000 MILES TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. IN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO GET RESOLVED. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ISSUE, BUT A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE.
JEEP LOST ALMOST ALL POWER WHILE IN MODERATE 2 LANE (55MPH) HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. WITHOUT ANY SORT OF WARNING THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON, WITH A "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" MESSAGE. LUCKILY, THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME WAS ALERT SO I DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I COASTED TO A STOP ON A VERY NARROW SHOULDER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND ON THEN ON. I WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE JEEP BACK HOME IN "LIMP MODE". THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT APPEARS TO HAVE SEVERAL PREVIOUS REPORTS.
IN NOVEMBER 2016 I WAS DRIVING IN A 35MPH ZONE. THE CAR BEGAN TO SKIP AND JUMP FORWARD. WITHOUT WARNING THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL MY LIGHTS FOR THE SHIFTER CAME ON (P,R,N,D). THE CAR WHICH WAS IN DRIVE IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND I LOST ALL CONTROL. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AND CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE ISSUE WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID IT'S A DEFECT IN THE SHIFTER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY VAGUE WHEN EXPLAINING THIS TO ME. TWO WEEKS LATER I I WAS TOLD I COULD PICK UP MY CAR. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY 10/04/2017, MY CAR DID THE SAME THING. I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH THIS TIME AND LOST ALL CONTROL. I HAD TO JUMP A CURB AND DRIVE ACROSS THE LAWN AND INTO THE PARKING LOT. I HAVE READ MANY ISSUES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS. WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED? ESPECIALLY IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I COULD HAVE CAUSED A LARGE ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS DURING RUSH HOUR. SAFETY OF CONSUMER AND OTHERS ON ROAD NEED TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.

THE MOST RECENT SEPT. 27, 2017 WAS WHEN I WAS IN TRAFFIC ON A SIDE STREET IN WORCESTER MA.. IT TOOK 5 MEN TO PHYSICALLY PUSH MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING. UNACCEPTABLE. AFTER HAVING A TUNE UP IN MID-JULY 2017, THE CAR DIP STICK IN LATE SEPTEMBER WAS DRY. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALER I FOUND OUT IT TOOK 4 QUARTS OF OIL. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT. I AM NOW GOING TO HAVE TO CHECK EVERY 500 TO 1,000 MILES NOT TO MENTION THE HIGHER COST TO PURCHASE SYNTHETIC OIL. THE
AFTER HAVING MY BRAND JEEP FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS, THE SERVICE PARK BRAKE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE, AND TRACTION LIGHT WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING. MY CAR THEN PROCEEDED TO JERK WHILE DRIVING SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. UPON RESTART OF THE JEEP, ALL THE LIGHTS WERE GONE AND THE JEEP DROVE FINE. 5 TO 6 MONTHS (AROUND MARCH 2017) LATER THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND THE WHEEL BECAME STIFF AND HARD TO TURN. SINCE THE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON BEFORE, I DID THAT BUT THE LIGHTS STAYED ON. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPT WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEN THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. THE LIGHST STAYED OFF, AS THE APPOINTMENT WAS 2 WEEKS AWAY, SO I CANCELLED IT. AS A SINGLE PARENT I CANNOT AFFORD TO WASTE MONEY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WOULD NOT SHOW AN ERROR BECAUSE THE MALFUNCTION LIGHTS WERE OFF. IN AUGUST OF 2017 THE LIGHTS CAME ONE AGAIN, THE WHEEL BECAME HARD TO STEER. THESE LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR 2-4 DAYS THEN WENT OFF. THIS OCCURENCE HAPPENED AGAIN IN BETWEEN AS WELL MY SONS BDAY WEEKEND FEBRUARY 2018. MY PARENTS WERE DRIVING THE CAR AND THIS MADE THEM UNCOMFORTABLE. SINCE THEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON MORE FREQUENTLY, USING GO OFF WITHIN A DAY OR 2, ONLY TO COME BACK ON AGAIN. IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS THE LIGHTS HAVE COME ON DAILY, CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, AND CUT BACK ON. THE BRAKES NOW MAKE A VIBRATING SENSATION WHEN DRIVING, AND 3 TIMES WHEN BACKING UP THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED ITSELF. IN THE HISTORY OF OWNERHSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE I HAVE USED MY PARKING BRAKE MAYBE 3 TIMES. I AM FRUSTRATED WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW WITH 7 MILES ON IT TO BEING EXPERIENCING SO MANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE SEPT 2016 (NOT EVEN 2 FULL YEARS ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM STARTED EARLY ON) AND ONLY HAVE 25K MILES ON IT.
