TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, HER KNEE TOUCHED AGAINST THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. SHE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALER BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED AN ADDITIONAL FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET RECEIVED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,353.
WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE THERE IS NOT POWER. THERE IS BOXES AROUND ALL GEARS (PRND). THE DISPLAY FLASH "SERVICE PARK ASSIST". THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. CALLED CHRYSLER SAID TO TAKE TO DEALER AND FIND OUT WHAT THE REPAIR WILL BE. DEALER SAID IT WAS A U0404 CODE INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM GEAR SHIFT CONTROL MODULE AND A P0700 CODE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. THIS MODULE IS $700 AND CHRYSLER SAID IT WAS HELPING ME OUT AND DOING ME A FAVOR BY LETTING ME JUST PAY $200. I HAVE FOUND THIS EXACT PROBLEM MENTIONED ON MULTIPLE JEEP FORUM SITES. MY PARENTS HAVE REPLACED THE SAME PART AND MY BROTHER IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS NOW. I'VE TALKED WITH CHRYSLER ASKING WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A PART THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING IN A UNSAFE MANNER AND WAS TOLD IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. *TR
ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER I HAVE DEFECTIVE CORRODED TIRE VALVE STEMS WHICH ARE NOW CRACKED AND CAUSE THE TIRE TO CONSTANTLY LOSE AIR PRESSURE CAUSING AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE PROBLEM I AM TOLD IS DUE TO THE ALUMINUM VALVE STEM BEING CORRODED BY THE METAL VALVE STEM CAP. ALL IS ORIGINAL FACTORY PARTS. I AM AFRAID IF THE VALVE STEM COMPLETELY FAILS AND THE TIRE GOES FLAT WHILE DRIVING IT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THE CHRYSLER/JEEP DEALER HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS AND IN FACT AT MY LAST SERVICE WHICH INCLUDED AN ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION DID NOT WANT TO PASS THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THE SITUATION WAS TO DANGEROUS BUT STILL REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLED WHILE AT A STOP AND DURING TURN. LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. CANNOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. WAITING TO HEAR FROM DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE METAL VALVE STEM OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM CORRODES WHERE IT PASSES THROUGH THE WHEEL AND RESULTS IN UNEXPECTED SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. AMBER TPMS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE IS IMMEDIATELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL/STEER. ONCE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, AIR CAN BE HEARD AND FELT ESCAPING FROM VALVE STEM AREA ON WHEEL AND ONE CAN WATCH THE TIRE CONTINUE TO DEFLATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON MY VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS: 01-2009 AT 111,000 AND 05-2013 AT 219,000. *TR
I WROTE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND REALIZE OTHERS ALSO HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. WHEN WILL CHRYSLER BE FORCED TO RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST FOR THIS TO BE CONSIDERED SERIOUS? THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE SUV WHICH STARTED WITHIN 3 YRS OF HAVING THE TRUCK. THE DEALERS LOOKED AT IT, I PAID FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND STILL NOTHING. BESIDES ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATING, ACTUALLY ALL THE INSTRUMENTS GOING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING; ALSO, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT LIGHT UP WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN AUTOMOBILE WITH ALL THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT NO ONE CAN FIX. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I TRY NOT TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ALONE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE PCM. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WATER PENETRATED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE AND SOAKED THE FLOOR. THE WINDOWS WOULD ALSO NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT 70,000.
INTERIOR DOOR PANELS BREAK AT THE DOOR HANDLE LOCATION LEAVING THE DOOR HANDLE INOPERABLE AND THE PASSENGER UNABLE TO OPEN THE VEHICLE DOOR. THIS IS A PROBLEM ON ALL FOUR PASSENGER DOORS. *TR

MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 75TH ANNIVERSARY ED 6CL RANDOMLY STALLS AND LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES WHILE MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. MOST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING MY 2 DAUGHTERS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO WARNING AND ALL POWER IS LOST WHILE DRIVING INCLUDING POWER STEERING... THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND CAN'T FINS ANYTHING WRONG. IT'S TIME TO SELL THE BEAST BEFORE MY KIDS GET HURT. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS AT NO PARTICULAR TIME, ROLLS BACK ON AN INCLINE AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL, VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF AT NO PARTICULAR TIME. JEEP HAS RECALLS FOR THESE PROBLEMS BUT THE VIN SAYS NONE IS AVAILABLE THEREFORE DEALER WILL NOT PERFORM RECALL. RECALL IS FOR THE V8 MODEL BUT THE VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION AND HAS THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS EVEN THOUGH IT IS A V6 MODEL. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHILE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
AFTER COMPLETING A ONE MILE TRIP WITHOUT INCIDENT, I GOT BACK IN MY 2006 3.7 LITER V6 4X4 JEEP COMMANDER AND STARTED IT UP. I THEN PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND BEGAN TO BACK UP WHEN MY POWER-STEERING FAILED. I PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE POWER-STEERING WAS FUNCTIONING AGAIN, SO I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND BEGAN TO BACK UP. AFTER ABOUT FIVE FEET THE POWER-STEERING FAILED AGAIN, THEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AND IT WAS INCREDIBLY HARD TO BRAKE. THE ABS LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I THEN BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED IT. THE POWER-STEERING WAS STILL FAILING AND THE ABS LIGHT STILL LIT UP. THE ENGINE THEN DIED AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T START AND THE RED ALARM LIGHT CAME ON. THE BATTERY IS GOOD. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE INTERIOR PANEL HAS CRACKED AND FALLEN APART AROUND THE HANDLE. *TR
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES/CUP ARE MADE WITH BRITTLE RESIN AND FRACTURE EASY. WITH A BROKEN CUP THE HANDLE DANGLES IN THE DOOR MAKING EXIT VERY DIFFICULT WITHOUT EMERGENCY REPAIR. THE REPAIR REQUIRES THE ENTIRE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $800 PER DOOR. PRIOR TO WARRANTY EXPIRING ONE DOOR WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER 2 MORE DOOR HANDLES ARE NOW BROKEN. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP PRODUCTS AND SHOULD HAVE TRIGGERED A SAFETY RECALL. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 5.7L HEMI STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL LEVELS OF SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. ALL POWER IS LOST, AND I HAD TWO INSTANCES OF THIS OCCUR WITHIN ONE WEEK WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THREE VISITS TO THE DEALER VIA TOW TRUCK IN TWO WEEKS AND AFTER I WAS TOLD IT WAS DONE YESTERDAY, SIX MILES INTO MY RIDE HOME, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. BUILD DATE IS 5/06. ALL TSBS HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO NO AVAIL. NEED HELP!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT DRIVETRAIN(?). VEHICLE BUCKS AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. ELECTRICAL POWER ALSO SHUTS OFF. THIS IS THE THIRD OCCURRENCE OF SUCH AN INCIDENT, AND ALL THE INFO SUBMITTED HERE PERTAINS TO THIS 3RD INCIDENT. *TR
REFERENCE COMPLAINTS 10244597, 10247128. TODAY, DRIVING IN THE RAIN, LIGHTS DIMMED AND CAR HESITATED, EVENTUALLY STALLING WHILE IN MOTION. WHILE WE WERE AT A STOP, THE CAR AGAIN STALLED AND TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO RESTART. I NO LONGER DRIVE WITH THE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND HAVE NOT SINCE THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT AT 61K. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING JEEP THROUGH MY DEALER, WITH NO RESPONSE. TODAY I SENT AN EMAIL VIA THEIR WEBSITE, HOWEVER, I AM NOT HOPEFUL OF ANY RESPONSE. THIS WILL BE THE FINAL TIME I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT, AS I HAVE CALLED THE BANK AND TOLD THEM TO COME AND GET THE CAR. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THE PERSON WHO CONSIDERS PURCHASING MY CAR, AS I AM SURE ANOTHER UNSCRUPULOUS SALESMAN WILL PUT THE CAR UP FOR SALE, DOES HIS OR HER RESEARCH AND FINDS THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE FILED HERE AND WITH THE PA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 2 MONTHS AGO AND THE JEEP HAS STALLED AROUND 10 TIMES TO DATE. I TOOK THE COMMANDER TO BARTON JEEP HERE IN SPOKANE...THEY SAID THEY "FLASHED" THE COMPUTER. THEY SAID THIS SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. NOPE! STALLED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK (WHICH IS WHEN WE GOT THE JEEP BACK FROM BARTON JEEP). MY CONCERN IS THAT MY WIFE COULD GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THE VEHICLE DECIDES TO STALL ON THE FREEWAY OR SOMEWHERE ELSE. PLEASE HELP ME! *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE JEEP'S ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE JEEP HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS BUT NO PROBLEMS HAVE SHOWN UP ON THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS, SO SERVICE TECHS WON'T TOUCH IT. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING WITH THE V6 ONLY THE V8.
HAD CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN TO REACHING SPEEDS OF 85 MPH. IF CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED ON NOW IT ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN AND I MA NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED AT ALL. HAVE TAKEN CAR TO DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. FRONT WINDSHIELD LEAKS AND LETS IN TOO MUCH AIR. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS SINCE IT IS A DEFECT. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOES NOT GO DOWN. NOW REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS STARTING TO GET STUCK. HAVE REPLACED DRIVER SIDE SWITCH AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW GOES DOWN BUT THE DRIVER SIDE WHICH HAS CONTROLS TO ALL THE WINDOWS DOES NOT WORK FOR ANY OF THE WINDOWS. MY CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN ON A DAILY BASIS. IT CAN GO FROM 35 MPH TO UNCONTROLLABLE SPEEDS. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY NEVER FIND THE PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP CANT EVEN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL WINDOWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND IT SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ROLL WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 1,500 FEET ACROSS THE STREET, DOWN A HILL, AND CRASHED INTO A DECK AT ANOTHER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE TURNED ONTO ITS SIDE. THERE WAS AN OCCUPANT IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE MASSIVE IMPACT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND THERE WAS PERSONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS REFERENCE ODI COMPLAINT #10244597. RECEIVED CAR BACK FROM DEALERSHIP RAN FINE FOR TWO WEEKS. THE CAR IS NOW STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH NEAR OUR HOME. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEN THE PARK ASSIST SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND WENT OFF AGAIN. I GOT THE CAR HOME. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT OUT. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND NOT SHIFTING INTO HIGHER GEAR. TODAY TAKING THE KIDS TO THE BUS IT STALLED AGAIN. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND THE CAR HESITATE, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE PRETTY MUCH DECIDED ON VOLUNTARY REPOSSESSION, AS MY KIDS ARE WORTH MORE THAN THE DEFICIENT BALANCE. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS HAD A NUMBER OF DEFECTS. THE MOST COSTLY HAS BEEN THAT IT LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS OR GOES THROUGH A CAR WASH. I HAVE HAD THE SUNROOF CLEAN OUT AND THE PROBLEMS "FIXED" IN SEPTEMBER BUT IT HAS BEGUN LEAKING AGAIN. WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 38,000 MILES ON IT I HAD TO HAVE THE BEARINGS IN THE DRIVERSIDE FRONT WHEEL REPLACED COSTING ME OVER 300.00 DOLLARS. MY MECHANICS INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TO YOUNG TO BE HAVING THIS PART REPLACED. I'M JUST CURRENTLY WAITING FOR SOMETHING ELSE TO GO BAD ON MY "YOUNG" VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER IS VERY PRONE TO DEVELOP WINDSHIELD CRACKS. WITHOUT OBVIOUS IMPACTS, IT HAS DEVELOPED CRACKING THAT HAS REQUIRED THE WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 18 MONTHS. *TR

AFTERWARDS, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AS WELL. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE NOT A FACTOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED BUT THEN SHUT OFF ONCE HE ARRIVED AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
A/C BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR KEEPS FAILING. ORIGINAL FAILURE ON 9/4/2008, REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR, MILEAGE 57771. FAILURE # 2, 5/18/2009, SAME FAILURE, BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED, MILEAGE 64773. FAILURE # 3, 6/1/2012, MILEAGE 115274, BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR REPLACED, ALSO PAID FOR "NEW BAFFLE SCREEN" PER JEEP, A DESIGN FLAW AND DEBRIS COMING IN AND GETTING LODGED IN AC MOTOR FAN BLADES, WOULD CORRECT PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I PAID FOR 1/2 OF THE PARTS AS I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT WAS GIVEN A "GOODWILL REPAIR" CREDIT ON LABOR FROM DEALER AND $100 REFUND FROM CD FOR PARTS ON THIS REPAIR, MILEAGE 115274. FAILURE # 4, 11/19/2012, SAME FAILURE, BLOWER MOTOR, EXCEPT THIS TIME, BLOWER MOTOR SMOKED, ELECTRICAL BURN AND SMOKE INSIDE VEHICLE, I HAD TO EVACUATE MY VEHICLE ON SIDE OF FREEWAY, MIND YOU I AM DISABLED WITH SERVICE DOG. DEALER COVERED REPAIR WITH THEIR OWN PARTS AND REPAIR WARRANTY. FAILURE # 5, 4/30/2013, MILEAGE 131318,.....CURRENT STATUS, WAITING REPAIR....BECAUSE IT IS FAILING INTERMITTENTLY, ONLY LOW AIR SETTING, AND NOT OTHERS, LITHIA DEALER REQUESTING I WAIT UNTIL COMPLETE FAILURE, WHICH I FIND UNSAFE. I HAVE CALLED JEEP AND TOLD THEM THAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I WILL FILE A LAWSUIT, THIS IS A "UNSAFE" PROBLEM FOR IT'S CONSUMERS. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING "EXTREME IDLING" AFTER THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) WAS RE-PROGRAMMED 2 MONTHS AGO. MY TRUCK REVS UP AND DOWN VERY FAST, SO MUCH, WHILE IN PARK, OR STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, THAT IT IS CAUSING MY TRUCK TO BURN ALOT OF GAS FASTER. MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 5.7L SOMETIMES LOSES ALL THE DISPLAYS IN THE FRONT PANEL DASH BOARD. EVERYTHING GOES OUT. MY A/C WILL NOT TURN ON. NO RADIO, ETC. THIS IS AN UPDATE OF MY PREVIOUS POST. MY 2006 3.7 LITER COMMANDER 4X4 HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER SINCE MONDAY THE 7TH. WHEN I TOOK IT IN IT HAD BEEN STALLING NOW AND THEN, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE DISPLAY "SERVICE PARK ASSIST" HAD CAME ON THE DAY BEFORE I TOOK IT IN. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, IT SHUT DOWN NO BREAKS, STEERING, NOTHING. THE DEALER TESTED IT AND SAID IT GAVE THEM A CODE U1400 WHICH WAS THE TCM MODULE. THEY REPLACED IT AND TOLD ME TO COME AND GET IT ON JUNE 9TH. I PICKED IT UP AND ON THE WAY HOME, GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE ABOUT A BLOCK FRO THE DEALER, IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN, AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD DOWN THE HILL, AND ALL I COULD DO WAS PULL THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND PRAY THAT IT STILL WORKED, IT DID. AFTER THREE TRIES, I GOT IT STARTED AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO PUT A COMPUTER ON IT AS SOON AS I GOT THERE, THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO GET A RIDE HOME, AND THE NEXT DAY CALLED AND SAID IT NEEDED ECM MODULE, THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY HAD A 1000 PIECE BACKLOG ON THEM. I ASKED THEM WHAT I SHOULD DO FOR TRANSPORT, AND THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD CALL CHRYSLER BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MAJOR RECALL ON THE 2006 4.7 LITER COMMANDER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NOT THE 3.7 MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GREAT, BUT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN UNREAL TO DEAL WITH, THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER, AND HAVE BEEN NO HELP. I CALLED THE DEALER TODAY TO LET THEM KNOW THAT CHRYSLER TOLD ME THE PART WOULD BE READY FOR DELIVERY ON JULY 18TH, BUT MY GUESS IS THAT IF THERE'S 1000 BACKORDERED, IT WILL BE SOME TIME BEFORE I WILL GET MINE. ON MONDAY JULY 7TH WHEN DRIVING THERE FOR THE APPOINTMENT, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND IT SHUT DOWN, NO BRAKES, NO STEERING, NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH, NOTHING. I GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT RE-STARTED AFTER 3 TRIES. I MADE IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CALLED MY TODAY AND SAID IT WAS READY AND THEY HAD TO INSTALL A TCM MODULE. I WENT TO PICK IT UP, AND ON THE WAY HOME, IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, THE ONLY THING IT DIDN'T DO WAS DISPLAY THE ENGINE LIGHT, BUT THE STALLING AND THE "SERVICE PARK ASSIST" CAME BACK ON. I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR ALL FOUR OF MY VEHICLE DOORS HAVE CRACKED AND BROKEN BEYOND RECOGNITION. PIECES HAVE FALLEN FROM THE DOORS, AND THE LEVER MECHANISMS WORK ONLY HALF THE TIME. MOST OF THE TIME THE DOORS HAVE TO BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE, BY ANOTHER PASSENGER. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE. EACH TIME THAT WE ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN THE DOORS. IF WE SHOULD HAVE AN EMERGENCY, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR RECALL INFORMATION, BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL. EACH TIME THAT I HAVE TALKED TO A DEALER, THEY HAVE STATED THAT NO RECALLS ARE ON FILE. *TR
WHILE OPENING THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE, THIS PREVENTED THE PASSENGER FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES RELATING TO THE DOOR HANDLE. I REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. TWO MONTHS LATER THE LEFT REAR HANDLE BROKE AND THEN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER HANDLE BROKE. I MADE REPAIRS TO BOTH OF THOSE HANDLES AS WELL. LAST MONTH THE RIGHT REAR HANDLE HAS BROKEN AGAIN, I HAVE DID A TEMPORARY REPAIR ON THE HANDLE. MY FEARS ARE THAT IF I WAS TO GET IN SOME TYPE OF ACCIDENT WHERE THE PASSENGER(S) WOULD HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN A HURRY THAT THE HANDLES WILL FAIL AND THE PASSENGER(S) WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER AND COULD RESULT IN THE PASSENGER(S) BEING TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF SAFETY RECALL.
2006 JEEP COMMANDER DRIVING AT 50+ MPH ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY ENGINE DIED. POWER BRAKES AND STEERING WAS LOST AS WELL AS ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FUNCTION. THE JEEP RECALL FIX FOR ENGINE STALLING HAD BEEN PUT ON WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED DRIVING, THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. I GOT NOTICE FOR A RECALL ON IT, RECALL H19 ABOUT BAD SOFTWARE PROGRAMMED INTO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. I TOOK IT IN AND 2 DAYS LATER MY TRANSMISSION LOCKED INTO 3RD GEAR. I'M NOT A MECHANIC BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS POWERTRAIN. I TOOK IT IN TO GET CHECK AND THEY SAID I NEED A NEW SOLENOID WHICH GETS ITS SIGNAL TO SWITCH GEARS FROM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THEY WON'T COVER IT THOUGH. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY ALSO SAID THEY WON'T COVER IT. I ASK THE GARAGE IF THEY COULD CHANGE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE THE RECALL AND THEY SAID NO. MY JEEP WAS RUNNING FINE BEFORE I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE RECALL. ANYWAYS AFTER ARGUING WITH EVERYONE ABOUT IT I GAVE UP AND DECIDED I'LL PAY FOR IT, BUT COME TO FIND OUT, A TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK FOR JEEP COMMANDERS ARE ON FACTORY BACKORDER AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY'LL GET THE PART. SO THAT GOES TO SAY THAT ALOT OF JEEP COMMANDERS TRANSMISSION SOLENOIDS ARE GOING BAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER REPEATEDLY FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND THE MAP SENSOR WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURERS REPORT 20824940 WAS FILED AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD LIKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE THE VEHICLE OR GIVE THE CONTACT HER MONEY BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,493 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

I ALSO HAD THE STEREO WORKED ON BECAUSE I GUESS IT TOOK LESSONS FROM MY HEATER, AND WOULD CHANGE STATIONS OR NOT TURN AT ALL .IT STILL DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AT THIS POINT I'VE KIND OF GIVEN UP ON IT.BUT THEN THE WINDOW S STARTED NOT GOING UP ALL THE WAY THEYWOULD GO HALFWAY UP THEN GO BACK DOWN IN THE DOOR. I HAVE JUST TAKEN MY CAR ON FRIDAY TO GET NEW TIRES, MONDAY FOR AN ALIGNMENT,WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ONE BECAUSE MY TIEROD HAD TO MUCH PLAY IN IT AND WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. MY DEALERSHIP NO LONGER HAS THEIR LICENSE SO I HAD MY CAR TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST JEEP PLACE AND MY WARRANTY COULDN'T BE FOUND AND I BASICALLY STOOD ON THE STREET TO WAIT FOR A RIDE AS THEY CLOSED FOR THE NIGHT. BUT THEN WHEN I GOT TO TALK TO THEM AGAIN I NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS ALL THE WAY AROUND AT A GRAND TOTAL OF 600.00 . *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER THAT HAS A WINDSHIELD DEFECT. I HAVE REPLACED THIS WINDSHIELD ONCE ALREADY AND HAVE 2 NEW STONE CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL AND THEY ARE SEEING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN MALFUNCTION. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CAR STALLS USUALLY WHEN TURNING, HOWEVER IT HAS DONE IT AT A RED LIGHT. CAR IS POWERLESS (BRAKES, STEERING, ETC) AND CONTINUES MOVING UNTIL THE KEY IS PULLED OUT OF THE IGNITION. IT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 10 TIMES, MOST OF WHICH HAVE BEEN TURNING AT LIGHTS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, ACCIDENTS WERE AVOIDED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HER VEHICLE; HOWEVER, SHE HAS SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE VEHICLE AND EVEN AN INVESTIGATION FOR THE SAME FAILURE. SHE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER FOR LATER IN THE WEEK. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 15,300. UPDATED 5/30/08 *CN
