THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER RESET 3 TIMES AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS NIGHT TIME WHEN THIS OCCURED. THE ROAD WAS SMOOTH WITH NO APPARENT BUMPS. *TR
MY CAR HAS A RECALL, MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER P41. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER STATES RECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE. YET THEY SAY THIS MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKING ASSIST INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH AND DISABLING ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLES SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS. I HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN OFFICIALLY NOTIFIED. I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE AND CAME ACROSS THIS. I WENT TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX IT YET, AND THEY CAN NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY DO 70 MPH AND WE HIT A BUMP AND THE JEEP LOST ALL POWER. IT SHUT RIGHT OFF. THANK FULLY WE WERE IN THE OUTSIDE LANE AND COULD GET PULLED OVER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE WE GOT PULLED OVER WE SHUT THE KEY OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS FINE. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON.THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH SINCE JUNE OF 2014 AND THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I HAVE A CHILD AND DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT NOW. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE GETTING MY BOTH OF MY FRONT SEAT BELTS TO LATCH. I HAVE TO HOLD THE RED BUTTON DOWN FOR IT TO ATTACH. THEN ON APRIL 3, 2015, EVEN THOUGH MY FRONT SEAT PASSENGER LATCHED THE SEAT BELT, THE SENSOR NEVER QUIT CHIMING. THE DEALERSHIP, MACK GRUBBS MOTORS, IN COLUMBIA, MS HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, AND STAYED ON. CHECKED OBVIOUS ENGINE PROBLEMS, OIL, BELT, GAS CAP, ETC. NO OBVIOUS CAUSE. TOOK TO LOCAL MECHANIC. CHECKED CODE AND RESET. ADVISED IT HAD TO DO WITH CENTER CONSOLE SHIFT LINKAGE? ADVISED TO BRING BACK AS SOON AS COMES ON AGAIN. THIS IS HOWEVER NOT THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT HAS COME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AT LEAST TWICE BEFORE ON INTERSTATE TO CHECK ENGINE. NO CAUSE FOUND. AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS, LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, AND CAR RAN, THOUGH SLUGGISH AND AT TIME LABORED. *TR

THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY. ALL DASH LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF, SPEEDOMETER AND TACH GOES TO ZERO AND AIR BAG, ABS AND STABILLTY CONTROL WARNING COMES ON AND STAYS LIT TILL I RESTART ENGINE AND MULTIPLE ERROR CODES. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE HE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL AS OF YET.

MY JEEP ACTS AS IF I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. TODAY IT DID IT AGAIN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH. I HAVE NO ADDITIONAL KEYS ON THE KEY CHAIN. MY SEAT IS SLID BACK AND THERE WAS NO CONTACT WITH MY KNEE AND THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AND HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SINCE 2007. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL (P41 / NHTSA 14V-438), THAT I WAS FINALLY NOTIFIED ABOUT BY MY DEALER A YEAR AGO BUT THERE ARE STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE WIN MODULE WERE BOTH FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PTM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND/OR REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA07007 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, POWER TRAIN) DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN) FOR THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND FAILURE WERE SIMILAR BECAUSE THE INVESTIGATION INVOLVED THE 4.7L V-8 ENGINE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A 5.7L V-8 ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER OPENED A CASE ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF REGARDING THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE TWO OF THESE 2006 COMMANDERS WHICH ARE DRIVEN BY MY TWO DAUGHTERS. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH MONTHS AGO BUT IT SAID THAT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, WHICH IS APPARENTLY STILL THE CASE. HOW LONG ARE MY GIRLS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THESE VEHICLES IN THIS CONDITION? WILL THESE PARTS EVER BE AVAILABLE? I SOLD A PREVIOUS JEEP TO BUY THIS ONE BECAUSE THE OLD ONE, AS I FOUND OUT AFTER I PURCHASED IT, WAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO GAS TANK EXPLOSION. AND NOW THIS. VEHICLE LOSES IGNITION POWER WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. DASH CLUSTER WARNING LIGHTS FLASH MULTIPLE TIMES. SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, FUEL, TEMP GAUGES FALL TO ZERO POINT. STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT/INOPERABLE. VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES REGAIN POWER. RECALL RELATED TO IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN OPEN SINCE SEPTEMBER 3, 2014. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT ISSUED ANY SOLUTION/REMEDY. MANUFACTURER HAS SUGGESTED "REMOVING EXTRA KEYS/KEYCHAINS FROM IGNITION KEY AND AVOID BUMPING THE IGNITION KEY WITH KNEES." THIS IS NOT A REMEDY. THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY JEEP COMMANDER STARTED HAVING TROUBLE SKIPPING. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CONTROL MODULE AND THE FIX DETERMINED BY CHRYSLER WAS TO RE-PROGRAM IT. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE RECALL PERFORMED AND THE TRANSMISSION CHECK AFTERWARDS. WHEN I ARRIVED TO PICK IT UP, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE TECHNICIAN WAS OUT SICK SO ALL THEY COULD DO WAS THE RECALL. THE CAR DROVE WORSE AFTER I STARTED HOME AND FAILED TO GET TRANSITION BETWEEN GEARS. I WAS FORCED TO STOP AT THE CLOSEST TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEIR CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. SO, I HAD THEM THEY REPLACED IT. WHEN THEY WENT TO TEST DRIVE IT, APPARENTLY THE NEW TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED DUE TO THE CONTROL MODULE. THEY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD A NEW CONTROL MODULE INSTALLED. AFTER REPAIRING THE NEW TRANSMISSION, I WAS CHARGED $4000. WHATEVER THE RECALL "FIX" FOR THE CONTROL MODULE WAS, IT CLEARLY WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE TRANSMISSION'S DESTRUCTION. THE OTHER RECALL FOR THE IGNITION COULD NOT BE DONE BECAUSE CHRYSLER HAS NO MANUFACTURED PART TO FIX IT. I SOLD THE COMMANDER THE NEXT DAY. I NEEDED RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER. UPDATED 04/06/15
VEHICLE TURNED ON AND AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF DRIVE WAY, THE TRUCK TURNED OFF AND COULD NOT GET IT TO TURN BACK ON, IT MAKES ONLY A CLICKING SOUND, I HAVE CALLED THREE DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS AND SAY TO NOT HAVE THE PART OR KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL, HOW MUCH LONGER SHOULD ANY ONE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE AVAILABILITY OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE, WHICH IS MY ONLY MEANS OF COMMUTING. WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, MOST OR ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, WIPERS CAME ON, HORN STARTED HONKING AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE HORN CONTINUED TO HONK, THE WIPERS TO OPERATE AS IF I HAD TURNED THEM ON, WHICH I HAD NOT. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE, THE INCIDENT STOPPED AND OPERATED FINE UNTIL THE NEXT OCCURRENCE. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME THIS SAME THING HAPPENED; I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 60 AND 70MPH, AND ALL THE ABOVE RANDOM THINGS HAPPENED AGAIN, ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE DID NOT STALL. THE FOURTH TIME I WAS DRIVING IN SUBURBAN TRAFFIC AND STOPPED AT A LIGHT, ALL THE SAME THINGS HAPPENED AND THE ENGINE DID STALL. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE HORN FROM BLARING, NOR SHUT OFF THE HIGH BEAMS THIS TIME, EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE WAS STOPPED AND THE KEY WAS WITHDRAWN. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE TO SHUT OFF THE HORN AND LIGHTS. ONCE I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY, ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, ALL WAS FINE AGAIN. THESE 4 OCCURRENCES HAPPENED OVER THE LAST ~2 MONTHS AT RANDOM TIMES IN VARIOUS TRAFFIC AND WEATHER CONDITIONS.
