I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER THAT SAID I WOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER ONE FOR A DEFECT THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED CONCERNING MY IGNITION SWITCH. I NEVER RECEIVED IT AND AM STILL WAITING SO THAT I MAY TAKE MY CAR IN AND HAVE IT REPAIRED. MY CAR HAS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SWITCHED OFF AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH GO ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. YOU SAY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS MATTER TAKEN CARE OF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER ACTUATOR, NUID PUMP, AND PURGE SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE WE MAY HAVE TO TURN THE KEY 40-50 TIMES TO ACTUALLY GET THE VEHICLE TO START! I HAVE BEEN TO DAVID STANLEY JEEP DEALER/SHOP IN NORMAN THIS MORNING THEY WILL NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE JEEP! I THEN DROVE TO FOWLER JEEP IN OKC AND THEY THINK IT IS THE STARTER THEY WANT ME TO LEAVE IT WITH THEM 4-5 DAYS AND THEY ARE NOT EVEN SURE THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM! I'VE CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE! THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO UNTIL THE PART IS MADE... BUT CAN'T TELL ME HOW LONG WILL BE UNTIL THEY GET IT MADE. CAR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND JEEP LOST POWER. HAD TO RENT A CAR TO TAKE MY KIDS TO SEE SANTA. THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDS REPLACED UNDER RECALL P41 BUT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM MANUFACTURER. CAR IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND SAYS THEY ARE SORRY BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. RECALL IS OVER 3 MONTHS AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE SO MANY OWNERS ARE FACING. IT IS DANGEROUS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A SLIPPERY ROAD DURING A SNOWFALL, MY WIFE OBSERVED ALL OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHT UP SIMULTANEOUSLY. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND CONSEQUENTLY A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON THE SLIPPERY ROADWAY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE SLID INTO A HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE MARKER ALONG THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER AND BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE. OUR CONCERN IS THAT THIS INCIDENT IS APPARENTLY DUE TO A DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH IS THE SUBJECT OF A CURRENT RECALL (14V-438) ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER ON 9/3/14. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT PROVIDED A REMEDY FOR THIS DEFECT, CITING THE UNAVAILABILITY OF REPAIR PARTS, AND AS OF THIS MORNING THE MANUFACTURER HAS NO IDEA AS TO WHEN THESE REPAIR PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. IN THE MEANTIME, THE PHENOMENON OF THE DASHBOARD INDICATORS SUDDENLY AND SPONTANEOUSLY ILLUMINATING WHILE DRIVING CONTINUES TO RECUR RATHER FREQUENTLY, AND WE ARE AFRAID THAT A RECURRENCE OF THE ENGINE SHUTOFF AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST WILL ALSO RECUR, PERHAPS AT A TIME AND LOCATION WHERE A MUCH MORE SERIOUS CRASH WILL RESULT. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY THE JEEP LOST POWER AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH FROM THE ON RAMP ON TO THE RIGHT LANE OF THE FREEWAY. ALL THE LIGHTS SHUT OFF, ALL THE GAUGES SHUT DOWN, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. IT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 4-5 SECONDS, AND AFTER STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE JEEP RE-ENGAGED AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO A SAFE DESTINATION. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND AFTER ABOUT 1.5 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS HIGHWAY OPERATION, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MOVE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND BRAKE TO A STOP. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY TO OFF, AND RE-STARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
