ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND 4X4! CAME ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. DROVE OUT OF WORK'S DRIVEWAY STOP AT SIGN THEN ACCELARATE DOWN A STEEP WINDING HILL AND MY CAR WAS ACCELERATING BY ITESELF..RPMS WENT FROM 3 TO 4 AND I WAS NOT PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE..I PULLED OVER BECAUSE THE CAR DIDNT WANT TO STOP..ABS FELT LIKE IT CAME ON AND FELT LIKE NO BRAKES..LUCKILY IT DID STOP WITH PUMPING AND DIDNT FLIP OVER INTO THE HUGE DRAIN DITCH. WE HAVENT EVEN HAD THIS CAR A YEAR AND WE ALREADY HAD TO SPEND OVER 1 GRAND IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS FOR THE RELAY..IN WHICH THERE IS NOT EVEN A PART TO REPLACE IT..GUESS I EITHER QUITE WORKING AND LIVE ON THE STREETS OR TAKE MY CHANCES EVERY DAY DRIVING THE DEATH TRAPS THAT WE ARE PAYING THOUSANDS FOR..AND IT SEEMS THESE HAVE ALL BEEN KNOWN ISSUES ..
3 TIMES NOW OVER A 9 MONTH SPAN WHILE IN A TURN THE STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED UP AN UNABLE TO BE MOVED, YOU HAVE TO SLAM BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP AND HOPE NO BODY IS IN FRONT OF YOU .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (DIEHL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FUSO OF MOON 5408 UNIVERSITY BLVD, MOON, PA 15108) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OXYGEN (O2) SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR. IT HAS 73,000 MILES. DRIVING IN 100 DEGREE TEMPS GOING 75-80 AND TRANSMISSION GREEN LIGHT COMES ON. SOUNDS LIKE IT CAN'T CHANGE GEARS. I EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND ROTTED OUT. THE CONTACT CALLED TRI-CITY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AT 800-491-6295 (LOCATED AT 189 RTE 108, SOMERSWORTH, NH 03878) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
TROUBLE WITH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND LIGHTS STOP WORKING AT TIMES.
JEEP STALLED AFTER FILLING IT WITH GAS. STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, DUE TO OVERFLOW OF GAS. FIX WOULD REQUIRE REPLACING WHOLE GAS TANK AND SYSTEM.
CATYLIAC CONVERTER RECALL MY JEEP HAD SUDDEN ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAY UNTIL IT BROKE DOWN AND I WAS NEARLY IN A ACCIDENT TOOK JEEP TO MIDAS WHO FOUND THAT MY ENGINE OVERHEATED DESTROYING OTHER COMPONENTS IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND ENGINE HAD BLOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OTHER COMPONENTS COST 2000 DOLLARS AND ENGINE WILL COST 6000 DOLLARS BY JEEP TO BE REPLACED BUT ALSO MY CATYLIAC CONVERTER WAS RECALLED I WAS INFORMED BY SEVERAL MECHANICS THAT CATYLIAC CONVERTER FAILING COULD CAUSE THE AIRFLOW ISSUES FOR MOTOR AND CAUSE CYLINDERS TO LOSE COMPRESSION DUE TO CYLINDERS RODS BENDING AND DAMAGING ENGINE AFTER RUNNING COMPRESSION TEST CYLINDERS HAD NO COMPRESSION I INFORMED DEALERSHIP WHO CALLED MIDAS LIARS AND ACCUSED ME OF NOT KNOWING ANYTHING I GOT CATYLIAC CONVERTER REPLACED BUT MOTOR IS ALREADY DESTROYED CHRYSLER CORPORATE DENIED ALL FAULT EVEN AFTER PROVIDING ALL EVIDENCE PROVING THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS THE ORIGINAL ISSUE I FEEL THAT IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE THE POTENTIAL THAT THE ENGINE COULD FAIL AND CAUSING THE CYLINDERS TO LOSE COMPRESSION
AFTER EVERY SINGLE TIME I FUEL UP MY CAR, THE WHOLE CAR SPUTTERS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN AND HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND RECEIVED A TUNE UP. LAST WEEK, AFTER HAVING ALL OF THIS WORK DONE, I GO TO FILL UP MY TANK, I TURN THE CAR ON IT SPUTTERS AS I ACCELERATE OUT OF THE GAS STATION, THEN I PULLED OUT ONTO A VERY BUSY STREET TO DRIVE HOME AND NOT EVEN A QUARTER MILE DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR STALLS OUT, POWER STEERING IS LOST, AND I ALMOST GET HIT FROM ON COMING TRAFFIC DUR TO ME LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND IT SEEMS FINE. AGAIN THIS ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING GAS. THIS ISSUE IS APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN BUT THERE IS NO RECALL OUT YET. ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION LIGHT AND FLASHING LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE WOULDN'T EXCEED 30 MPH. OCCURRENCE FIRST HAPPENED WHEN TURNING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO SHUT DOWN/RESTART VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, AT TIMES, TO GET BACK TO BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY, OTHERWISE, IF ABLE, I WILL PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PLACE THE CAR IN PARK TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY CHANGES. LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY COME ON AND DRASTICALLY ALTER ABILITY TO OPERATE VEHICLE. OTHER OCCURRENCES APPEARED WHILST WAITING IDLE IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU, DRIVING DOWN CITY STREETS--STOP SIGN TO STOP SIGN, DRIVING OVER ROAD IMPERFECTIONS LIKE BUMPS OR POTHOLES, EVEN SAFETY SPEED HUMPS. FROM MY OWN RESEARCH ONLINE, I BELIEVE I HAVE AN IDEA TO WHAT THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS. DUE TO THE FLASHING LIGHTNING BOLT SIGNAL, IT SEEMS THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HAS FAILED.
DRY, HOT SURFACE ON HIGHWAY. IN CONSTRUCTION MOVING THROUGH STOP AND GO AS TWO MAJOR ROUTES WERE MERGING. APPROACHED AREA GOING UNDER A OVERPASS, SLIGHT DOWNWARD AND SWEEPING LEFT CURVE. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH OFF AND ON DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC FLOW. GENTLY DEPRESSED BRAKE TO SLOW THEN WENT TO GENTLY ACCELERATE AND CAR JUST QUIT, HAD NO ACCELERATION. LOOKED AT INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ESC LIGHT IS ON. BE PUT HAZARDS ON, PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED. EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. TRULY TERRIFYING AS THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR A TOW TO EVEN GET TO ME OR FOR ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR! I WAS AGAINST LEFT SIDE WALL, ON A CURVE, UNDER A BRIDGE IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC CONSTRUCTION ZONE IN CLEVELAND! DEALERSHIP WILL CHARGE ME $115 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. READING UP I FIND THERE WILL NOT EVEN BE A CODE SO WHY BOTHER. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS!
VEHICLE STOPS MOVING RANDOMLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND MUST BE RESTARTED TO GET IT TO MOVE. WILL BARELY ACCELERATE AND RPMS ARE EXTREMELY HIGH ST LOW SPEEDS. VEHICLE SURGES AND WON'T ACCELERATE. HORRIBLE WHINING NOISES. VEHICLE STALLS, OR WON'T MOVE WHEN TRYING TO ASCEND UP HILL OR WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THER MECHANIC TWICE AND HAD THE COMPUTER RUN DIAGNOSTICS. THE CAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS IS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS PROBLEM REGARDING THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS.
VEHICLE CANNOT BE INSPECTED DUE TO AN INSPECTION DONE BY SHANNON TIRE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON A LIFT WHEN THE PERSON FOUND THE SUBFRAME COMPLETELY GONE. THE MOTOR IS CLOSE TO FALLING OUT AND WE HAVE READ NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE THIS SAME ISSUE HAS TAKEN PLACE.
MY 2011 JEEP COMPASS FAILED INSPECTION SINCE IT NEEDS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT. WHEN I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS ONE STARTED IN MARCH OF 2019, HOWEVER, MY VIN # DOES NOT QUALIFY. SINCE I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL, I FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE ADDED AND THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.
DID NOT KNOW THAT WAS A RECALL ON THECATALYTIC CONVERTER THEY FIX IT THEY HAD THE PART IN IM WOUDERING ABOUT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ADS LIGHT BECAUSE COURTESY DODGEJEEP RAM IN CONYERS GA IS CHARGING ME ABOUT 800.00 HUNDRED DOLLARS PLUS 190.00 FOR A BATTERY I CAN'T AFFORD THAT. MY CAR WAS ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON I THOUGHT THE BRAKE FLUILD WAS LOW COURTESY DODGE SAID THAT IT WAS READY BEFORE I COULD DRIVE THE JEEP OFF THE LOT THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE BATTERY, NOW THEY TELLING ME ANTILOCK BRAKES. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY 1,190.00 DOLLARS.
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, LOST ALL POWER. COAST TO THE NEXT REST STOP, FLASHERS ON ONLY GOING 40MPH ON HIGHWAY. THEN CAR OFF, RESTART AND PROCEEDED HOME. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME SENIRO. NEW TRANSMISSION FROM JEEP, $3300. I THINK THEY SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEMS.
2011 MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH 115K MILES. HIT A POTHOLE AND BEGAN MAKING NOISE IN ENGINE. TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP. THEY FOUND METAL FRAGMENTS IN TRANSMISSION FLUID RESERVOIR. STILL SHIFTS OK.
THE ETC LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE WON'T GO WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS. THE ENGINE CUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. SOME DAYS IT STARTS SOME DAYS IT DOESN'T. REPLACED THE RELAY SWITCHES TWICE AND THE ETC. NEITHER SEEMS TO HELP. I DRIVE A HIGHWAY TO WORK EVERYDAY AND I PRAY THAT IF IT ACTS UP, I CAN FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER
WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, THE CAR STARTED TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP, IT WAS PUSHING FORWARD BUT JUST ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD INTO A GAS STATION. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED, I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. IT WOULD START BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THAT WHAT THEY SAID IS THE PROBLEM. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 160K MILES AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION SO SOON!
AFTER NOTICING MY REAR TIRES WEARING UNEVEN, WE TOOK OUR CAR IN TO HAVE THE REAR SUSPENSION INSPECTED. WE GOT A CALL TELLING US THE REAR SUBFRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE.
THE CAR WENT INTO LYMPH MODE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AND ON, BUT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE. IT IS A PROBLEM IN THE TRANSMISSION. EVEN IF THE TRANSMISSION IS REPLACED, THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IT IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE ENGINE THAT CAUSES THIS. JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT RECALLED OR ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. LIVES COULD BE LOST. PLEASE DEMAND THEY RECALL AND PAY FOR THE PROBLEM.
HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL ISSUES, HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING, INTERIOR LIGHTS WORK AND THEN DONT, DASHBOARD LIGHTS WORK AND THEN DONT. HAD ENGINE LIGHT COME ON BUT WHEN I TIGHTENED GAS CAP IT WENT OFF. STARING HAVING REALLY HARD TIME UPON ACCELERATION, FELT LIKE THE ENGING WAS WORKING REALLY HARD AND THEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID HE WAS SURE IT WAS TIPM AND WAS TRYING TO SEE IF HE COULD FIX IT WITHTOUT TOTAL REPLACEMENT. TURNS OUT ACTUATORS ARENT FIRING BECAUSE TIPM IS A TOTAL WASH AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT FOR 1100 BECAUSE ITS OUT OF WARRANTY. CAR ONLY HAS 72,000 MILES. I HEAR CHEROKEE AND DURANGO HAD RECALLS.
STALLED AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. THE MECHANIC WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT AFTER FIXING WHAT THEY THOUGHT IT MAY BE. $500 DOLLARS LATTER. IT IS STILL STALLED AFTER I FILLED UP. VERY SCARY CROSSING 4 LANE'S OF TRAFFIC AFTER YOUR CAR STALLED, STARTS RIGHT BACK, THEN STALLED AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE TELL IT MAY BE IN THE GAS TANK. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR ALL THE GUESSING. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!
FILLED TANK AND CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING AWAY THREE TIMES (AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE) CALLED FOR A TOW AND TAKEN TO MECHANIC WHERE THEY COULDN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEN AGAIN, APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, STALLED AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK WHILE MAKING A LEFT OUT OF THE GAS STATION ACROSS TRAFFIC. QUICKLY RESTARTED THE CAR, IT BUCKED AS THOUGH ABOUT TO STALL AFTER ANOTHER 3/4 MILE, AND THEN RAN FINE. LARGEST CONCERN IS DIRECTLY AFTER FILL UP, BUT THERE IS FREQUENTLY A BUCK/HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING AS WELL.
WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN CAR STARTED TO SWERVE FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND THE BRAKES LOCKED. SHE SMASHED INTO THE BARRIER AND WHOLE CAR WAS TOTALLED. DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW WE CAN GET COMPENSATION FOR THIS. *DT*JB
TRIED TO GET INSPECTED AND REFUSED DEALER SAID SUBFRAME IS RUSTED AND REAR-CROSSMEMBER RUSTED , DEALER SMAIL SAID. NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRENTY !! SO MY QUESTION IS WHY WOULD MY JERP FRAME BE RUSTED WHEN IT'S A 2011 !!
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHILE ON RT 90, MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE I HAD TO GET ACROSS TRAFFIC TO CRAWL OFF HIGHWAY TO GARAGE. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID WEREN'T SURE, PERHAPS TRANSMISSION. AFTER A WHILE WHEN I RESTARTED WAS ABLE TO CRAWL HOME ON LOCAL ROADS. IT SEEMED BETTER UNTIL ANOTHER TIME ON RT 91 I WAS IN DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN AUTO STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I WAS ALMOST HIS BY TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. LUCKILY I CRAWLED BACK HOME AGAIN. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. FEW DAYS LATER I WAS GOING TO TAKE TO GARAGE AND IN MIDDLE ROAD IT STOPPED AND WOULD NO LONGER DRIVE AT ALL. IT SAT IN MIDDLE STREET UNTIL I HAD IT TOWED TO REPAIR. THEY COULD HELP AT MY USUAL REPAIR GARAGE AND I HAD TO HAVE TOWED AGAIN TO JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME TRANSMISSION WAS BLOWN AND IT WOULD COST ALMOST $6500 TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION, THROTTLE BODY AND MANIVERTER. MY SISTER HAD A 2015 JEEP THAT HAD SAME PROBLEM YEAR AFTER SHE BOUGHT AND SHE WAS ALSO IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON HIGHWAY SAME AS MINE. HERS WAS RECALLED. MY CAR IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD AND THIS KIND OF REPAIR IS OUTRAGEOUS. I HAVE HAD IT TOWED 3 TIMES AND CANNOT MOVE IT AT ALL. IT SEEMS TO HAVE MESSED UP CRUISE CONTROL WHICH FEW MONTHS PREVIOUSLY STOPPED WORKING BEFORE TRANSMISSION QUIT ALL TOGETHER. RESEARCH HAS SHOWED ME THIS IS A CHRONIC AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH JEEP VEHICLES AS MECHANICS HAVE ALSO INFORMED ME. THIS HAD BEEN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR SOME MONTHS UNTIL IT STOPPED DRIVING AT ALL. JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THESE DANGEROUS VEHICLES. I HAVE STATEMENT FROM LIA JEEP OF NORTHAMPTON, MA STATING NECESSARY REPAIRS BUT MY PRINTER IS NOT WORKING SO I CANNOT UPLOAD.

WHEN I DROVE IT WOULD SEEM TO LOSE POWER AND NOT ACCELERATE LIKE WHEN ON HIGHWAY CHANGING LANES. I WAS ALMOST IN A BIG ACCIDENT, HAD TO LIMP OFF MASS PIKE HIGHWAY TO GARAGE AND AFTER COOLED DOWN WAS ABLE TO LIMP BACK HOME INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO MY DESTINATION, STAYING OFF HIGHWAY. IT OFTEN SMELLED HOT. SINCE THEN IT GOT WORSE JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND MADE A SQUEALING SOUND AND NOW WON'T DRIVE AT ALL EVEN THOUGH MOTOR IS RUNNING. LAST WEEK IT STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF STREET WHEN DRIVING AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I CANT AFFORD A $1500 PLUS REPAIR FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A DESIGN FLAW. MY SISTERS 2015 JEEP WAS RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUES.
WE (MY HUSBAND AND I) WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY TO WORK AT 7:00AM WHEN IT IS STILL DARK OUTSIDE, WHEN ALL THE LIGHTS SHUT OFF (HEADLIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS AND THE HAZARDS WOULD NOT WORK). THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS THEN SHUT OFF AND IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE. WE HAD THE JEEP TOWED HOME. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT ONE OF THE COMPLAINTS THAT COMPASS OWNERS HAVE IS THE TIPM WILL GO OUT AND CAUSE SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE WHOLE VEHICLE. I HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR $651.00 BECAUSE IT IS A DEALER SPECIFIC PART. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PART HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED IN THE COMPASS WHEN IT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE GRAND CHEROKEE, WRANGLER AND DURANGO. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT IF MY HUSBAND WASN'T SO QUICK TO GET THE JEEP OFF THE ROAD AND GET US OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC.
TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP FOR A KNOCKING IN THE REAR. FOUND THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED/ROTTED OUT. ON NOV 18TH, THE 3RD WEEK AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHILE STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION. WE WERE PULLED INTO THE LANE TO OUR LEFT. PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION TO A SERVICE STATION, FEELING LIKE WE HAD A FLAT TIRE AT THAT POINT. A DRIVER BEHIND US PULLED IN CONCERNED SAYING THE FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS PERPENDICULAR FROM THE REST OF THE VEHICLE AS WE WERE DRIVING FORWARD. TOWED TO A SHOP WHO THEN INFORMED US THE CROSS MEMBER WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME RUST ISSUES AS THE REAR AND HAD BROKEN.
WHILE TRAVELING 45 MILES AN HOUR VEHICLE STOPPED DRIVING. ENGINE WAS RUNNING CAR WAS IN DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS NOT WORKING.
THE COMPASS DOWN SHIFTED ON IT'S ON AND WOULD NOT GO. DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCK ALONE. WHEN CAR DOWN SHIFTED OR SLOWED DOWN BY ITSELF WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED ON INTERSTATE 10. THINKING IT WAS TRANSMISSION OIL, HAD IT CHANGED AND FILTER CHANGE. NOPE PROBLEM CONTINUES. ALMOST REAR-ENDED AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE WHEN IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. THEY RECALLED TIPM MODULE OTHER MAKES OF JEEP BUT NOT ON THE COMPASS, WHEN READING CAR COMPLAINTS FROM COMPASS OWNER'S THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THE OTHER JEEP MODELS EXPERIENCED. PLEASE HELP GET THIS VEHICLES TIPM MODULE RECALLED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER'S AND THOSE DRIVING AROUND THEM. IF WE DO GET REAR-ENDED BEFORE THIS IS REMEDIED, I GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE A LAWSUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER JEEP!
MY CAR IS GOING INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING, GOING DOWN REALLY QUICKLY BASICALLY. WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE CAR DECIDED TO GO INTO LOW SPEED TWICE NO ALMOST CAUSING A REAR-ENDED COLLISION THANKFULLY DRIVER BEHIND WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND I ONLY RECEIVED ROAD RAGE FROM DRIVER. IT SHOOK MY WIFE UP SO MUCH SHE WAS HOME FOR TWO DAYS WITH XTRA ANXIETY MEDICATION. SINCE THAT INCIDENT CAR COMES AND GOES IN LIMP MODE, SO NOW THE CAR SITS MY WIFE IS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT. I KNOW RECALL ON OTHER JEEP MODELS, I FEEL THIS TOO SHOULD BE RECALLED.
THE VEHICLE WENT IN TO LIMP MODE CAUSING NO ACCELERATION, NO POWER. THE CAR IS NOW STICKING IN LOW GEAR. THIS IS ON GOING AND COSTLY. AND ABOVE ALL DANGEROUS WHEN THE VEHICLE DECIDES NOT TO WORK ON THE INTERSTATE. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND CONTINUES TO IGNORE ISSUE AND THROWS COST BACK ON CONSUMER. ALSO, DOES NOT GIVE ANY CODES TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH JEEP.
FOR OVER TWO YEARS MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. I TRIED TO LOCATED THE A POSSINLE FUSE BUT FOUND THE FUSE BOX WAS MISLABLED ON THE DIAGRAM. CHECK YOU TUBE AND DIAGRAM IN MANUAL DID NOT MATCH. SO I LIVED WITH THE ISSUE BECAUSE FOR INSPECTION IT DID NOT AFFECT EMMISSIONS. NOW THAR I AM PASSING THE VEHICAL TO MY DAUGHTER I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT ALONG WITH A STEERING NUT TO CHECK. I WANT THE VWHICLE TO BE SAFE FOR HER. I ALREADY PUT A LOT OF MONEY INTO THE JEEP FROM A NEW TRANSMISSION, WIRING CONCERNS LOCATED UNDER DRIVERS FRONT TIRE, TIMING BELT AND GENERAL MAINTAINANCE.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN THE FREEWAY ABOUT 70MPH . OUT OF NO WHERE CAR CAN NOT BE ACCELERATED AND LOST ALL POWER. I WAS LUCKY THAT TRAFFIC WAS NOT BAD OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE GOT OTHER AND MYSELF HURT. CALL JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ADVISED ME TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL FOR 15-20 MINUTES TO LET THE TRANSMISSION "COOL OFF" AND TO TRY IT AGAIN. TO MY SURPRISED IT WORK. HOWEVER ABOUT AN HOUR LATER SAME THING HAPPEN. I TAKE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE ADVISE ME TO GET RID OF THE CAR, HE TOLD ME THAT JEEP KNOWS WELL THAT THIS CARS ARE TRANSMISSION ARE OVERHEATING AND LOSING ALL POWER BUT THEY REFUSE TO MAKE A RECALL AND FIX THE ISSUE. I CAN NOT EXPRESS TO YOU GUYS HOW SCARY IS TO BE DRIVING AND KNOWN THAT AT ANY MINUTES YOUR CAR CAN LOSE ALL POWER AND YOU WILL BE HIT OR KILL. I URGE YOU GUYS TO TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AND HELP ME AND OTHERS THAT ARE DRIVING THIS CARS TO HAVE JEEP FIX THEM. I CALL JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED THEM WHY THEY HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, I WAS TOLD THAT ALL SHE CAN DO WAS "DOCUMENT" MY CONCERNS BUT THAT WAS ALL SHE CAN DO. I AM VERY UPSET KNOWING THAT EVEN IF I SPEND THE MONEY TO PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION THIS ISSUE WILL NOT GO AWAY SINCE ALL THIS TRANSMISSIONS ARE DEFECTIVE. PLEASE MAKE JEEP BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MATTER AND HAVE THEM RECALL ALL THE CARS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. OTHERWISE THE PUBLIC IS AT RISK TO HAVE MAYOR ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS. THANK YOU.
MY 2011 JEEP COMPASS ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I STARTED TO LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF A SMALL MEDIAN STRIP AND WAS LATER TOWED TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE HEATING SYSTEM HAD TO BE TURNED ON IN ORDER FOR THE WARNING INDICATOR TO TURN OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY 200 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
TH E COVERAGE OF THE SEATS BELT IS EXPOSED. THAT IS IN THE TWO FRONTS SEATS. THE MIRROR OF THE WINDSHIELDS WERE TAKEN OFF PARTLY AND/ OR TOTALITY BROKEN.
FILLED THE 2011 JEEP COMPASS WITH GAS AND PULLED OUT OF GAS STATION. TWO SECONDS LATER MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I MANAGED TO GET IT PARTIALLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY LETTING IT ROLL AND BRAKE, BUT CARS BEHIND ME WERE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS AND 3 CARS SWERVED OUT OF THE WAY AT THE LAST MINUTES BEFORE SLAMMING INTO ME.
THE READ SHOE BRAKES CONTINUOUS NOISE IN THE BRAKES. JEEP PAID FOR REPLACEMENT OF DRUMS AND PADS. ONLY RESOLUTION BY CAR DEALERSHIP TO GO IN REVERSE TO REMOVE THE NOISE.
ENGINE CRADLE AND CROSSMEMBER CORROSION. ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH, WONT PASS INSPECTION. I DON'T DRIVE OFF ROAD. WONT PASS INSPECTION. DROVE TO THE MECHANIC AND WHEN HE LIFTED IT HE WAS ABLE TO SEE DAYLIGHT THROUGH THE RUST HOLES.
FRONT CROSSMEMBER HAD A RECALL I WAS NEVER CONTACTED AGAIN NOW THE CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION
MY WIFE AND I JUST EXITED THE HIGHWAY WHERE WE WERE TRAVELING 70 MPH (RT 75 SOUTH TENNESSEE). WE CAME TO A STOP LIGHT THAT WAS RED AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. WE HEARD A LOAD SOUND FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AND THE WHEEL PULLED FROM MY HANDS. I EXITED THE CAR TO FIND THE LOWER A FRAME HAD BROKEN OFF THE SUB FRAME. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON THE EXIT RAMP, WE WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED. THE POLICE AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND AGREED IF THIS HAPPENED AT SPEED, WE MAY HAVE BEEN HURT. TOWED THE 2011 COMPASS TO A DODGE DEALER IN CLEVELAND, TN.
WHILE IN MOTION, I NOTED A TRANSMISSION TEMP WARNING LIGHT, AND A TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, WHILE MY CAR WENT INTO A NEUTRAL LIKE STATE, WHICH THE MANUAL STATES IS A SAFETY MODE. DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED A COMMUNICATION ERROR, AND IT WAS INDICATED I NEEDED A NEW TIPM MODULE. I HAD THIS REPLACED AT A JEEP DEALER. AFTER REPAIR, I CONTINUED TO INTERMITTENTLY GET THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, BUT WITH NO CHANGE TO VEHICLE PERFORMANCE. BACK TO SHOP, DIAGNOSIS INDICATED COMMUNICATION ERROR. WHILE IN MOTION AGAIN, CHECK ENGINE, TRANSMISSION TEMP AND TRACTION CONTROL ILLUMINATED, AND I LOST ALL POWER. BACK TO SHOP, CONTINUE TO HAVE COMMUNICATION ERROR. ALL OTHER DIAGNOSTICS ARE FINE. MECHANIC NOTED THIS IS COMMON AMONG THIS MAKE/MODEL. I PERFORMED RESEARCH AND NOTED MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING TIPM MODULE. I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER HAD RECALLED SAME PART ON DURANGO AND GRAND CHEROKEE, BUT NOT OTHER MODELS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAVE SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY ON AN ISSUE THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF. MY VEHICLE IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONAL.
WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ABS AND ROAD HAZARD AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHTS STARD FLASHING. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE SEVERED AND THE ATTENDED SAID THE SENSOR IN THE RIGHT TIRE WENT OUT.

CAR WILL STOP ANY ACCELERATION, TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT LIGHT COMES ON AND YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN SPEED WITH FLOW OF TRAFFIC. CREATE A HAZARDOUS SITUATION TRYING TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, OCCURRED AT 70 MPH. JEEP DEALERSHIP CANNOT DETECT ANY PROBLEM WHEN DIAGNOSING FROM PRIOR SIMILAR EVENT. IN ADDITION WHEEL BEARINGS IN REAR AXLES WEAR OUT ON AVERAGE EVERY 35,000 MILES I HAVE REPLACED TWICE NOW PLUS BALL JOINT IN FRONT NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT BETWEEN 36,000 AND 40,000 MILES
